Lijiang River, belonging to the Xijiang River system in the Pearl River Basin, is the common name for the upper reaches of the tributary Guijiang River. It is located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The traditional starting point of the Lijiang River is Maoer Mountain in Yuechengling, the source of the Guijiang River. The modern hydrological definition is Lingqukou in Rongjiang Town, Xing'an County, and the end point is Sanjiangkou in Pingle. The upper reaches of the Lijiang River are Dayongjiang River, and the lower reaches are the traditionally named Guijiang River. The Lingqu River estuary is the dividing point between the Dayongjiang section of the Guijiang River and the Lijiang River section, and the Lipu River and Gongcheng River estuaries are the dividing points between the Lijiang section and the Guijiang section. The total length of the Lijiang River section is 164 kilometers. The riverbed along the river is mostly water pebbles, with little sediment and clear water quality, and the two banks are mostly karst landforms. The tourism resources are rich, and the famous Guilin landscape is on the Lijiang River.

If you want to visit the whole journey, of course you have to take a boat. I want to experience it myself, so I chose the Xingping section of the Li River. The Xingping section of the Li River is not long, only about ten kilometers, and it is very suitable for people like me who have decent leg strength. After I went to Xingping Ancient Town that day, I entered the Li River coast from the ancient town. There were many people along the way. I walked for about two hours and arrived at Jiuma Painting Mountain, which is the end of the Xingping section. Jiuma Painting Mountain is the background of the famous 20 yuan RMB. What made me unhappy was that I was asked whether I wanted to take a car on the road. About ten people asked me. At first, I declined one by one. Later, I was really impatient and ignored them directly. I was really angry. I thought, I am so interested in hiking, why do I look like I need to take a car? However, on this stretch of road, the scenery of the Li River is unobstructed, and the landscape is a painting in itself. I really recommend hiking along the Li River. The comfort and pleasure can't be felt by taking a car.

I followed a one-day tour group. The boat was closed during the day to receive government personnel, so the afternoon rafting was temporarily moved up to early morning, which should be a blessing in disguise. In the morning, there were few people, the water was clear, and it was not too hot. There was still smoke in the mountains. The sound of the electric bamboo raft was acceptable, similar to the sound of the old washing machine at home. I was probably used to it. The raftman I met was very good. Although he explained that we could give tips, we didn't give any and it didn't matter. He didn't drive fast because he was overtaken by other boats several times on the way. He also said that it depends on luck to meet the raftman. The river is wide but not turbulent, the mountains are beautiful and have different shapes, and you can enjoy it with more imagination.

Personally, I think it is better to take a cruise from Guilin to visit the Li River. The Li River cruise from Yangshuo is either the Xingping Bamboo Raft Tour or a boat tour. We chose the bamboo raft tour, took a car to the town, and then queued up to take an electric car to the riverside (there were a lot of people queuing in the peak season in July and August, and the queuing point was the street outside the open-air ticket office. The sun was scorching. If you don’t want to queue, you can take a private motorcycle for 10 yuan). A queuing passage was built along the riverside. There was no shelter, and the queue was chaotic. You just squeezed forward. The Xingping Bamboo Raft Tour is actually powered by a diesel engine. The bamboo raft is made of plastic to look like bamboo. N rafts are set off at a time. The entire river is filled with diesel engine sounds and other bamboo rafts. It is very good to only look at the mountain scenery without looking at the river. When you get off the bamboo raft, you will turn around and go back. After getting off the bamboo raft, you will be taken to Xingping Ancient Town by electric car. The whole town is very small and can be visited in 10-20 minutes. It is full of shops and old buildings.

If you are traveling independently, please read my review. Before I came here, I followed the guide on China-TravelNote. After I came here, I found that some of them were not what I thought. Here is my itinerary:

1. There was an aunt at the Guilin Railway Station Square who called a shuttle bus to Yangshuo, which cost about 40 RMB per person. I booked a homestay on Qunar.com and someone recommended that I add the tour guide on WeChat. Based on his recommendation, I went to the South Bus Station. There is no bus station next to the Guilin Railway Station!

2. A taxi from the train station to the South Bus Station costs about 30 yuan. There is a shuttle bus from the bus terminal to the South Bus Station, which does not stop in between.

3. There is a bus from the South Bus Station that goes directly to Yangdi Wharf. Please pay attention when buying tickets. I didn't know the situation and bought a bus that went directly to Yangshuo. The bus from Guilin to Yangshuo costs 35 yuan and goes directly to Yangshuo without stopping.

4. After getting off the bus to Yangshuo, walk forward to the station and there is a simple shed with a ticket office. You don't need to buy a ticket at the station to get to Yangdi Wharf. There will be aunties and uncles to call you. Tell them where you are going and they will tell you where the bus is. Buy a ticket on the bus and leave when it is full. A ticket costs 15 yuan to Yangdi Wharf.

6. Drifting time at the pier: 8am-9.15am (ticket checking stops at 25am) 12.20pm-16.45pm (ticket checking stops at 16.55pm)

7. When I arrived, the ticket office said that there were too many people and I had to wait for an hour before I could go floating. Please note that it is 95 yuan per person. There are four people in a boat. If there are less than four people, a seat is 30 yuan. You can find someone to share the boat with. I found someone to share the boat with.

8. After buying the ticket, there is a queue. Just follow the master they arranged. I went to Jiuma Painting Mountain. When I was almost there, the boatman would remind you that the big rock in front is Jiuma Painting Mountain.

There is a chapter in the primary school Chinese textbook "Guilin Landscapes are the Best in the World" which refers to the tour of the Li River. The mountains on both sides of the Li River are tall and straight, with various shapes, which are the essence of Guilin's scenery. The most representative landscapes along the whole journey are the Nine Horses Painting Mountain and the Yellow Cloth Reflection. The back of the new version of the 20-yuan RMB refers to the landscape of the Yellow Cloth Reflection. Generally, the main ways to tour the Li River are by boat, bamboo raft and hiking. The Li River Essence Tour (Guilin-Yangshuo) is the Li River section from Guilin to Yangshuo, which is called the Li River Essence Tour, which is the most common way to tour the Li River. The tour lasts about 4.5 hours, and the attractions along the way include: Guanyan, Boy Worshiping Guanyin, Nine Horses Painting Mountain, Yellow Cloth Reflection, etc. This route has large ships and bamboo rafts to choose from, but during heavy rain or flooding, bamboo rafts stop operating. The Yangshuo water tour departs from the Shuidongmen Wharf in Yangshuo County to Puyi and back, passing through Fuli Town, and enjoying the scenery of the lower reaches of Yangshuo along the way. The total tour time is about 3 hours. The scenic spots along the way include: Bilian Peak, Xiucai Kanbang, Shutong Mountain, etc. The Guilin City Water Tour departs from Longchuanping to the upstream Mulongdong Wharf and back, and enjoys the scenery on both sides of the city along the way. The tour time is about 1 hour. The scenic spots along the way include: Douji Mountain, Tashan, Chuanshan, Xiangbi Hill, Fubo Mountain, etc. Bamboo rafting is called rafting, but it is actually a gentle, non-stimulating bamboo raft. It usually goes back and forth from Yangdi to Xingping section. You can see the most important landscapes of the Li River, Jiuma Huashan and Huangbu Reflection. The tour time is generally 2.5 hours.

Taking a boat to tour the Li River is not as noisy as taking a motor raft, but you have to go with everyone, not as quiet as traveling on your own. But it is also the best arrangement on a misty rainy day. During the cruise, the host kept introducing it. He would stop at a specific point for everyone to take a group photo at the bow, and you could also go to the top of the boat to overlook the scenery of the Li River after the boat is stable. If the bamboo raft is the feeling of being in the Li River, then the cruise is the feeling of watching a 3D movie on the Li River. It is undeniable that the mountains and rivers are soothing pictures in any state, and the Li River in the misty rain is just a place to enjoy.

The boat ride takes about 4 hours, and if you include the time from Guilin to the pier and the time waiting to board the boat at the pier, you will need to add another 1 or 2 hours. Although this method takes a long time, it is the most interesting and recommended method because you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Li River along the way, and the environment on the boat is very good and it is very comfortable to sit on.

The mountains undulate on both sides of the Li River, forming a vivid and interesting picture. The most important thing is that three parts rely on seeing and seven parts rely on thinking.

Since it was spring, the Li River was quite cold and not suitable for rafting. Cruise on the Li River is an important part of our trip. Fortunately, we have secured the boat tickets and can see the landscape of Guilin in a down-to-earth manner. If you don't come to Guilin, it's like you haven't come to Guangxi. The Li River belongs to the upper reaches of the Gui River in the Pearl River system. It is one of the 15 most beautiful rivers in the world. In 1982, it was designated as a national key scenic spot by the State Council. The Li River Scenic Area is located in the core area of the Guilin Karst World Natural Heritage and the Guilin Li River Scenic Area. The travel agency will contact the pick-up location by phone the night before, and the bus will pick you up early in the morning. Follow the cameraman on the boat, he will guide you on where to take photos and explain the scenery. Don't go in January, don't go when it rains. The yellow water doesn't show the beauty of the Li River. In the legendary mural of ten thousand horses galloping, you can count how many horses you see, up to 9, the more you count, the better luck you have. I counted 8 horses. At noon, I had lunch at a small restaurant along the river, with only 130 yuan left in my pocket. I could only order a local chicken, and the boss lady took pity on us and gave us a 50% discount and a free vegetable and rice.

The Li River is very beautiful. You can go to Yangshuo to cruise on the Li River. Take the high-speed rail to Yangshuo Station, get off and take the high-speed rail bus to Xingping Ancient Town or Yangshuo County, and then you can cruise on the Li River. It is very convenient.
