Nine Horses Painting Mountain

If you are traveling independently, please read my review. Before I came here, I followed the guide on China-TravelNote. After I came here, I found that some of them were not what I thought. Here is my itinerary:

1. There was an aunt at the Guilin Railway Station Square who called a shuttle bus to Yangshuo, which cost about 40 RMB per person. I booked a homestay on Qunar.com and someone recommended that I add the tour guide on WeChat. Based on his recommendation, I went to the South Bus Station. There is no bus station next to the Guilin Railway Station!

2. A taxi from the train station to the South Bus Station costs about 30 yuan. There is a shuttle bus from the bus terminal to the South Bus Station, which does not stop in between.

3. There is a bus from the South Bus Station that goes directly to Yangdi Wharf. Please pay attention when buying tickets. I didn't know the situation and bought a bus that went directly to Yangshuo. The bus from Guilin to Yangshuo costs 35 yuan and goes directly to Yangshuo without stopping.

4. After getting off the bus to Yangshuo, walk forward to the station and there is a simple shed with a ticket office. You don't need to buy a ticket at the station to get to Yangdi Wharf. There will be aunties and uncles to call you. Tell them where you are going and they will tell you where the bus is. Buy a ticket on the bus and leave when it is full. A ticket costs 15 yuan to Yangdi Wharf.

6. Drifting time at the pier: 8am-9.15am (ticket checking stops at 25am) 12.20pm-16.45pm (ticket checking stops at 16.55pm)

7. When I arrived, the ticket office said that there were too many people and I had to wait for an hour before I could go floating. Please note that it is 95 yuan per person. There are four people in a boat. If there are less than four people, a seat is 30 yuan. You can find someone to share the boat with. I found someone to share the boat with.

8. After buying the ticket, there is a queue. Just follow the master they arranged. I went to Jiuma Painting Mountain. When I was almost there, the boatman would remind you that the big rock in front is Jiuma Painting Mountain.

Nine Horses Painting Mountain is one of the famous landscapes of the Li River in Guilin. It is located four kilometers upstream from Xingping. Standing by the river, the stone wall is like a sharp cut. From a distance, it looks like a huge painting screen. The mountain is a sharp cut wall, more than 100 meters high and wide. The picture of horses presents nine heads, a rare thing in the world."

There is a mountain four kilometers upstream from Xingping. It has five peaks, surrounded by mountains on the east, south and north sides, and facing the river on the west side. The stone wall is more than 100 meters high and wide, with green, yellow and white, and a variety of colors, alternating between light and dark, like a picture of a divine horse. Later, because the residents nearby found a pattern on the stone wall that looked like nine horses when they passed by here, they were very curious. Over time, they called this mountain "Nine Horses Painting Mountain". In fact, the correct name should be "Nine Horses Painting Wall".

First, we passed the Nine Horses Painting Mountain. But before we could count how many horses there were, we arrived at Xingping Wharf. I took out the 20 yuan I had prepared and checked in.

The famous Yangshuo landscape, 20 RMB behind the scenery, is really beautiful. The water is deeper, you can't take the artificial bamboo raft like Yulong River, change to a metal electric raft with 4 people in a boat. The two of us paid 50 RMB difference, two people in a boat, the boat's motor is really loud, and communication on the boat basically relies on shouting. Fortunately, the boatman is very good, and he took the initiative to chat with us and introduce the scenery along the way. The scenery is really beautiful. In addition to the noise, the boat is quite cool on a hot day~

The canyon rafting at the foot of Jiuma Painting Mountain is unique in the world. It is only 300 meters away from the Li River. There are too many attractions here, and I didn't make a good guide. I chose to go rafting from Xingping to Jiuma Huashan, but it was actually boring. Everyone must choose the right time and place! Don't go rafting in the afternoon, because the sun is shining and the scenery is not good, and it's not easy to take pictures! Xingping is worth a visit, because the 20 yuan background is here, but you don't have to go rafting here! If you have enough time, don't sign up for a group.

The most famous sight on the boat trip from Guilin to Yangshuo is actually the pattern of weathering of rocks on the mountain. It is said that you can see up to nine horses there, but I didn't see that many.

I was talking on the phone, so I told her that I had to take a call first and talk to her later. She stood next to me and didn't leave, and kept saying, "Look, I'm so old." I said I'll wait a minute, but she kept saying that she was so old. I was annoyed by her and gave her five yuan. Out of sympathy, if I wasn't on the phone, I wouldn't complain and would buy from her, but are you affecting me like this? You are so old, is it because your children don't support you and force you to sell oranges? I don't want to. There were more than a dozen people next to her. I didn't see her go to others to buy. I saw it because we brought a dog? People bring dogs only because they have feelings for the dogs after raising them for a long time, not because they are rich, okay! Another auntie came to sell chicken and duck eggs from the back. When people asked from a distance, I walked over and bought from her, and also bought a bag of dried sweet potatoes. It doesn't matter whether it tastes good or not, the point is that the feeling of being forced to buy is terrible. In the end, I gave the bag of oranges directly to the auntie selling eggs😠

According to legend, the nine horses were originally divine horses from heaven. They sneaked down to earth when the Monkey King Sun Wukong was not keeping a close watch on them. Unfortunately, they were seen by a painter drinking water by the Li River. The painter wanted to depict them, but the horses got frightened and mistakenly entered a stone wall in a panic, and remained in the human world forever. Since they were all transformed by gods, their shapes are unpredictable and difficult to identify, so the following ballad has been passed down through the ages: "Look at the horse boy, look at the horse boy, how many divine horses do you have? If you can see seven horses, you will win the second place, and you can see nine horses, you will win the first place."

If you want to see the front, you have to take a boat to the other side. When I drove to the scenic spot, the parking lot was empty, the staff had gone off work, and the vendors had left. As soon as I parked the car, a woman ran out from the opposite yard and asked for a parking fee of 10 yuan, but there was no receipt. I had to move the car to the side of the road farther away. She kept muttering: You have come to Guilin, can't you afford 10 yuan? I said you are not a regular staff, why should I pay you? She said I am a villager here, and the land here belongs to us. I was speechless and stopped arguing. When we got to the Li River, the ferryman was even more arrogant. He told us that we were going to the other side to see the Nine Horses Painting Mountain. He offered 60 yuan for a ferry ride across the river. It was 20 yuan per person, and children were also charged. He said, "Who told you to cross the river now? I'm off work now. It's cheaper to cross the river during the day." I saw that the locals were riding for free. Since we were here, we had to let him do whatever he wanted. After crossing the river, we didn't see many horses. It was all up to our imagination. The customs here are really bad. The beautiful scenery made me feel unhappy.

I just came back from Guilin. When I was shopping in Dongxixiang, I saw a store called Lijiangyuanwei doing an event. It gave away tickets and hotels. If you buy 200 yuan of local specialties, you can get tickets to Elephant Trunk Hill. At that time, I thought I had to buy souvenirs for my friends anyway, so I bought 200 yuan for a ticket. The next day, I went to play in Elephant Trunk Hill. It felt very affordable. It was much more cost-effective than taking a boat outside and watching from a distance. If you have friends who go, you can go and have a look. I think it's quite a bargain. I heard from the waiter in the store that you can also exchange for a hotel. I booked the hotel in advance and didn't ask for the hotel. Later, I went to Meituan to check out the hotel. It was a new hotel. The decoration picture looked very good and beautiful, and the reviews were also very good. I went home and searched for this store on Taobao, and I really found it. The things are also cheaper than those sold in physical stores, and you can also participate in the event. If you need it, you can go and find out. It's for reference only.

No matter what kind of boat you go, you will pass by here. I heard that the locals invented a fake tourist route. The promotion was confusing, saying that it was to the Painting Mountain. To be honest, many mountains have patterns similar to the Nine Horses Painting Mountain, so you may be deceived. Everyone should ask clearly and be vigilant. It must be stated that you are going to the Nine Horses Painting Mountain. As for whether you can see the nine horses. Don't mind it, and don't let it ruin your mood for traveling. It's just a fun trip. It is said that when the US President came, he didn't see the nine horses.
