Located on the east bank of the Li River, where the Li River meanders and turns, it is the location of the pattern on the back of the 20-yuan RMB.
After the rafting on the best section of the Li River, you can come here. Compared with the bustling West Street, Xingping is simple and quaint, with smooth bluestone slabs, which shows the original flavor of Yangshuo. There are eight major scenic spots and more than 20 scenic spots in the area, including Jiuma Painting Mountain, Snail Mountain, Lotus Rock, Tianshui Village, etc. Clinton once visited Xingping Fishing Village, which aroused many Chinese and foreign tourists to come.
Don’t forget to try the famous “Songhua Candy” in Xingping after you come here. The brown-yellow-colored Songhua Candy is crispy, densely packed, sweet, crispy, and melts in your mouth.

The ancient town is not big. Since the construction of Yangshuo Station, more and more people have come to Xingping (Yangshuo Station is more than 10 kilometers away from Xingping and more than 30 kilometers away from Yangshuo). The food consumption in the ancient town is not low. You can basically walk through the ancient town in 30 minutes. However, the main attractions in Xingping are to see Yuanbao Mountain (20 yuan background picture), take a cruise to see Jiuma Painting Mountain, climb Laozhai Mountain and Xianggong Mountain (highly recommended), the scenery is very beautiful, and you can watch the sunset if the weather is good. It is recommended to stay in Xingping for one night, or take a ferry to Dahebei Village on the opposite side of the river to walk along the river (be sure to go with friends).
1. Drift to Jiuma Painting Mountain, and after getting ashore, follow the instructions to find the place to take the sightseeing bus to Xingping Ancient Town. Don't listen to the people outside soliciting customers. There is a special place to wait for the bus. Leave when it is full.
2. On the way, you will pass the 20 RMB place, which is towards Banshan Wharf. There are a lot of people there. The car I took stopped before Xingping Ancient Town. It took less than five minutes to walk back. After taking pictures, it took about 15 minutes to walk to Xingping Ancient Town.
3. Xingping Ancient Town, I personally don't recommend going there. Maybe it was during the holidays, there were so many people. We just walked along one street and walked away. It was all selling things. It was too commercialized. I didn't take many photos! There is a bus to Yangshuo from Xingping Bus Station. There are so many people. I waited in line for a long time before I got on the bus.
Xingping Ancient Street is a stone-paved street more than 1 km long. From the southeast of Xingping Ancient Town to the Rongshutan of Lijiang River and the Gudu Wharf, it is convenient for residents and merchants to travel. Guild halls of various provinces are built on both sides of the ancient street. Most of the ancient buildings with brick and tile structures are well preserved. The outline of the city wall is still clear, and fragments of ancient bricks, tiles and ceramics can be seen everywhere. However, the prosperous county town with "carriages and horses coming and going and people watching each other" now presents a solemn atmosphere with green mountains and a few villages.
Xingping is located in the northeast of Yangshuo County, 25 kilometers away from the county seat. Most of the ancient buildings with brick and tile structures are well preserved. As early as the first year of Ganlu in the Three Kingdoms period (265 AD), Xingping Town was the seat of Xiping County, which governed the Yangshuo area. In the tenth year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty (590 AD), Xiping County was abolished and replaced by Yangshuo County, and Xingping was then under the jurisdiction of Yangshuo County. There are eight major scenic spots and 24 scenic spots in the area, including Jiumahua Mountain, Luosi Mountain, Lianhuayan, Tianshuizhai, and Lingbao Pavilion, which are breathtaking.
Take the high-speed rail here in the morning, turn left and you will see the special bus, which costs 5 yuan to go directly to Xingping Ancient Town, pass Fuli Ancient Town, get off at the bus station, turn right and you will see the old street, where you can find all kinds of local delicacies and handicrafts.
After walking through the old street to the pier, you can see the panoramic view of the pier. The bamboo rafts beside are motorized and take 20 minutes to go back and forth. If you have the energy and are not in a hurry, you can rent a bicycle or mountain bike to ride, or walk along the river. There are also battery cars along the river. It takes about two or three hours to complete the highlight section.
There is a pavilion on the top of the mountain next to the pier, which is Laozhai Mountain. It is also a good viewing platform. There are stone steps to the top. If the weather is good, you can go up and have a look. It takes about half an hour to climb. The mountain road is steep, so pay attention to safety. Go down the mountain before dark. You can bring some energy to replenish your energy when you go up the mountain. Go up the mountain lightly and the scenery is unique.
If you have enough time, you can spend another day visiting the ancient fishing village or take a ferry to the other side for a stroll.
Everyone came to Xingping to see the 20-yuan background image. We had been to other background image locations before, but no one took pictures with the money. But when we came here, the tour guide took the lead in lending us banknotes to take pictures. The tour guides here all love taking pictures...
You can choose to pay the photographer to take SLR photos, or you can take photos yourself. There are also ospreys and uncles on the boat. The uncle here only charges 5 yuan. Thinking about it this way, the 10 yuan IQ fee just now is really not right, haha. I imagine that if it is the flood season, there will be water behind you and the mountains will be green, which should be more beautiful
tour
This ancient town is more simple than Lijiang, Dali or other ancient towns. Also, because there are fewer people, it is more like the ancient town you imagine.
Xingping---A shining pearl on the Li River, located in the northeast of Yangshuo County, 25 kilometers away from the county seat.
The reverse side of the 20-yuan note is in Xingping. Most of the ancient buildings with brick and tile structures are well preserved. The Shizidan on the southeast side of the ancient street is the site of Xiping County. The outline of the city wall is still clear, and fragments of ancient bricks, tiles and ceramics can be seen everywhere. However, the prosperous county town with cars and horses coming and going and people watching each other now presents a solemn atmosphere with green mountains and a few villages. What is puzzling is that an ancient banyan tree that is said to be planted when the county was established and can only be hugged by 8 people is still lush and leafy. Its roots have swallowed 5 Bodhisattvas and a large stone weighing about 20 tons into the tree, as if telling people about the vicissitudes of the history of the ancient town for more than 1,730 years...
We stayed at Yangshuo West Street at night. This place is also very beautiful. There is a mountain behind the B&B where we stayed. It feels so good to be able to see the mountain just by turning your head.
After getting off the boat on the Li River, we arrived at Xingping Ancient Town. We had lunch here and then went to the Yinziyan Scenic Area. This is a large karst cave. There are free photo spots inside, but don't buy photos. The photo frames are very expensive, 40 each.
Xingping Ancient Town itself is not very interesting
People come here to take a boat tour of the Li River.
There were too many tourists, so queuing was the norm. We waited for about 20 to 30 minutes.
The reflection of the yellow cloth is the scenery on the back of the 20-yuan RMB. It is actually difficult to capture the feeling of the coin.
There are some special snacks on the boat, which cost about 30 yuan each, but few people buy them.
You can take photos at the bow of the ship when you visit some scenic spots. On the return trip, you can go to the top of the ship. There will be a photographer on board to take photos. You can see the photos after taking them. If you want, you can pay 25 yuan for one photo, 100 yuan for 5 photos, 160 yuan for 8 photos and a small photo album.
There will also be fishermen holding rafts and bringing cormorants on board. You need to pay the fishermen 5 yuan for taking pictures.
I went there during the National Day this year. Many places in the town are still under renovation. The roads are quite dusty and commercial. Maybe the environment will be much better after the renovation is completed. If the weather is good, you can also check in at the 20 yuan position.
Xingping Ancient Street is a stone-paved street more than 1 km long. It runs from the southeast of Xingping Ancient Town to the Rongshutan of the Lijiang River and the Gudu Wharf, which is convenient for residents and merchants to travel. Guild halls of various provinces are built on both sides of the ancient street. Most of the ancient buildings with brick and tile structures are well preserved.
It has not been fully commercialized yet, and it is worth a visit. Take the high-speed rail to Yangshuo Station, then take the high-speed rail bus to Xingping. The ticket is 5 yuan. You can see the bus ticket office after exiting the station. It takes about 10 minutes to reach Xingping, and you can walk to Xingping Ancient Town.
The ancient town where the Li River's essence section rafting ends is very small. You can take a battery car from the Jiuma Huashan Pier to the 20-yuan background viewing point. I was looking forward to Laozhaishan, but unfortunately missed it because I had to go to Yinziyan in the afternoon.
Xingping Ancient Town is not very big, but because it was the off-season when I went there, it gave people a quiet and ancient feeling.
There is a small island in the ancient town. After going to the island, you can feel the different scenery on the bamboo raft along the ring road, which is even more fairyland.
It is not recommended to live in Xingping as the range of activities is limited.
The pace of the ancient town is not fast. There are many tourists at noon. The morning and evening are relatively comfortable. I recommend "that small shop" in the town. The private dishes are delicious and unforgettable. It should be noted that most of the small shops in the town are closed at dark. There is no nightlife.
The most deserted ancient town I've ever been to🤦♀️It's also very small, but it's very close to the 20rmb backside landscape viewing platform, the location is good, you can stroll along the way
Very suitable for self-driving, leisure, daydreaming, and romantic encounters!
The public toilet door is locked, and the private toilet is 2 yuan per person! Such a short-sighted approach! Bad review
It is very close to the Li River rafting, so you can take a stroll after rafting!
I like Xingping Ancient Town very much. I often go there from Yangshuo and take the high-speed rail back to Guilin. The scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere of the small ancient town is very good.
Before I went there, I specially prepared a new twenty-yuan banknote just for taking this photo. I walked along the path, passed a small bridge, and continued walking forward. I bought two stones I liked at a small stall on the side of the road. It was worth the trip.
Xingping Town is a quaint and ancient town with streets paved with smooth bluestone.
There are eight famous scenic spots in the area, including nine horses painting the mountains and reflecting their shadows.
US President Clinton visited the fishing village which belongs to this town.
Tourists from home and abroad come here to visit, and its popularity continues to rise.
It is also a check-in spot. Maybe it was a rainy day, so there were not many people and it was quite interesting.
The street is not very long, but it took me a long time to walk around it. I think this is the only way to get in touch with the ground and experience the charm of the ancient town.
The mountain view is also nice. In the evening, Xingping is no longer as noisy as it is during the day. It is very quiet and comfortable, which is why I chose to stay overnight.
It's OK, not too commercialized. Living here is also a good choice, the buildings are very old, and the landscape is the most beautiful.
Xingping Ancient Town is a very distinctive and famous ancient town in Guilin. Many people come here every holiday. However, I personally feel that the ancient town is a bit too commercialized, with all kinds of shops scattered throughout the ancient town. In fact, the ancient town is just a town selling souvenirs, so you can just stroll around.
The 20-yuan background scenic spot is about 1 kilometer away from Xingping Ancient Town. After taking photos, we took a tricycle to the end of this mountain road, which is Jiuma Painting Mountain.
At the end of the road, there are uncles and aunts setting up stalls, selling local cakes, corn, ginger tea, and small fish from the Li River.
Xingping Town, located in the northeast of Yangshuo County, 25 kilometers away from the county seat, was the seat of the ancient Xiping County before the Sui and Tang Dynasties. It is an ancient town with a long history. Xingping is surrounded by mountains and water, and is surrounded by strange peaks. Xingping River converges into Lijiang River here, and the scenery is magnificent. There is an ancient saying that "Yangshuo's landscape is in Xingping". It is the best place for Lijiang River scenery, a shining pearl on the Lijiang River, and the location of the pattern on the back of the 20-yuan RMB.
Xingping is a large ancient town along the Li River with a history of more than 1,300 years. Xingping is surrounded by beautiful peaks and clear water, making it a place of scenic beauty along the river. There are famous places such as "Three Rocks, Five Wells, and Twelve Mountains". The green peaks on both sides of the river are arranged in a circle along the natural curve of the "Sickle Bay".
I didn't walk around much, the ancient town was still quite deserted. And the road was under construction, so I just sat in the teahouse and drank tea and ate fried dough sticks, which were super delicious.
It's okay to take a walk while visiting the Li River. The prices are not expensive and the fried fish on the roadside are delicious.
Be sure to go to the nearby Laosai Mountain to watch the sunset, it is super beautiful.
When I was traveling along the Li River, I passed by this place. There was only one street with shops on both sides, and I didn't see any ancient monuments.
Personally, I think this is the best place to enjoy the scenery of the Li River. If you have time, you can stay here for a few more days.
Xingping Ancient Town is most famous for the 20-yuan RMB background.
There is also a Xingping fishing village tour.
It's actually a bamboo raft ride.
Go take pictures in the river;
Others,
It doesn't seem like anything.
The ancient town is not big, you can spend about an hour playing there. It's fun to go to the pier and take a bamboo raft.
Everyone should be aware that there are many black shops selling medicinal materials in Xingping Ancient Town. A friend of mine was deceived by the shop in the picture below. There are special agents. Everyone must not enter this kind of shop, otherwise you will not be able to leave without tens of thousands of dollars! ! ! The most terrible thing is that some of the drugs they sell are banned drugs. If you take them casually, you will die in a few minutes.
Friends who go to the ancient town must be careful not to be deceived. My relative was cheated of more than 3,000 yuan in this store and bought the so-called waist-tonifying medicinal materials. At that time, he was walking around the ancient town alone, and was deceived by several agents and the boss of a medicinal material store to buy the Yinyangzi. Before we agreed on the price, they said it had been ground into powder. This is obviously a scam. The old man was not proficient in Mandarin, so he said it would cost more than 6,000 yuan. Then he only had 1,500 yuan in cash, so he would not be allowed to leave. He called us to come over, and finally gave us more than 3,000 yuan. The domestic tourism environment still needs to be improved. The agents on the street, those who carry briefcases and dress elegantly, are all scammers. They say that Yangsui will have a romantic encounter to attract you to listen, and then this medicine is said to be aphrodisiac and kidney-tonifying. Friends who understand Chinese medicine told us not to eat it and throw it away. Eating too much will cause trouble, and you dare not take the things he grinds into powder! It's too shady!
A very ancient village with many ethnic minorities living in it!
In August 2012, I went to Guangxi for 15 days and Guilin for 2 days. I had a rich and wonderful time in Yangshuo. Xingping Ancient Town is a tourist town in Yangshuo County, a famous tourist county in China. It is a gathering place for cultural relics and a shining pearl on the Li River. It is located in the northeast of Yangshuo County, 25 kilometers away from the county seat. The back of the 20-yuan RMB note is in Xingping. Most of the ancient buildings with various brick and tile structures are well preserved.
Here, the banks are surrounded by green mountains, continuous peaks, clear water and lush bamboo forests. It is the essence of the Li River.
The ancient town is very small, with only a few streets. After walking out of the ancient town, you can follow the flow of people and cars to the location where the 20-yuan RMB background picture was taken. But in fact, the real viewing platform requires taking a boat to the other side, but the scenery here is not much different.
The essence of Guilin's landscape, here are the famous Nine Horses Painting Mountain and Yellow Cloth Reflection, and Yangshuo is a major tourist town.
It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a variety of scenery, whitewashed walls, black tiles and stone alleys. It is the most beautiful ancient town along the Lijiang River.
Here, I wish to be a wild crane, watching the maple fishing fires on the river, and looking for a paradise on earth.
The ancient town is not big and you can walk around it in about ten minutes. It is very quiet, the commercial atmosphere is not so strong, and there are not so many tourists. The local specialties are good and you can buy some.
Xingping Ancient Town, please imagine the major ancient towns in China. It is a good place to drink milk tea (although I didn't drink it in the end. Tourists go to Xingping mainly to check in 20 yuan and watch the fishing boats singing in the evening, so be sure to prepare 20 yuan notes in advance. Although there is a super large 20 yuan printed note on the scene, if you hold it up, the first picture in my mind is the photo of the winner after winning the lottery, and it is only 20 yuan. The old fisherman on the river is now very capable. He will notify you in advance to adjust the parameters, put the position, and then start casting the net. Generally, he will cast it several times in a row, so don't worry about not being able to take pictures, but there will generally be charges. If you are with a group, don't worry.
I don't ask other people's stories.
Unless she wants to
20 out of 186, it was not easy to complete.
Xingping Ancient Town is very small and can be walked through in ten minutes, but if you want to savor it carefully, you can stay there for half a day. There are more people in the ancient town during the day. I prefer the ancient town in the evening or at night, when there are not so many tourists. After the hustle and bustle of the day, the ancient town begins to reveal its original appearance.
The fishing boats and cruise ships that went out during the day returned to the shore in the evening and lined up neatly in a row. With the rolling mountains in the distance, a single press of the shutter created a beautiful picture.
The ancient town is very quiet. It is so quiet that you can hear the sound of water flowing on the dam, which is so pleasant to the ears. The ancient town at night is not disturbed by too many tourists, showing a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
Highlights: Ancient town scenery, low commercialization, the back of the 20-yuan RMB bill is nearby, and you can climb Laozhai Mountain to watch the sunset
Note:
1. There are many people during the day and few at night. There are relatively few accommodations in Xingping Ancient Town. Most people choose to stay in Yangshuo County or the Li River.
2. Those who come from West Street to climb Laozhaishan need to pay attention to the latest bus time. There will be no bus back to West Street after 6 o'clock, so friends who want to take pictures of the sunset are advised to stay in Xingping Ancient Town or its surroundings for one night;
3. Xingping Ancient Town is very close to Yangshuo High-speed Railway Station, only a 10-minute drive away. After visiting Xingping Ancient Town, you can take the way back to Guilin city.
The background image of the 20-yuan RMB note is located between Xingping Ancient Town and the inn (Yangshuo Banshan Yunshui Boutique Hotel), and there is also a hiking route nearby, which is listed as one of the top ten most beautiful hiking routes in China.
Walking along the way is like walking in a painting. There are endless strange peaks on both sides of the river. Guilin is one of the most beautiful scenery in the world, and the mountains and waters of Yangshuo are the most beautiful of Guilin's mountains and waters.
[Practical guide information on the scenery on the back of the 20-yuan RMB]
Tickets: Free
Opening hours: All day
Time: About 1 hour
Transportation: It takes about 10 minutes to walk to Xingping Ancient Town
Highlights: The back of the 20-yuan banknote, rafting, and China's top ten most beautiful hiking routes
There are many electric cars and bicycles in Xingping Ancient Town. You can play along the river. The water of Li River is really clear. Not only can you see the small fish and water plants clearly, but you can also see the sand and stones on the bottom of the water clearly. The mountains are already very beautiful, and they are even more beautiful when they echo the reflection of the water. There are many historical sites in Xingping Town, which is a longevity town.
Most tourists who come to Guilin will not miss Xingping. After all, the beautiful Lijiang fishing fire behind the 20-yuan RMB is located in Xingping. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with beautiful scenery, white walls, black tiles and stone alleys. It is one of the most beautiful ancient towns along the Lijiang River. The ancient town not only has eight major scenic spots and 24 scenic spots such as Jiuma Huashan, Luosi Mountain, Lianhuayan, Tianshuizhai, and Lingbao Pavilion, but also Tengjiao Temple, a Ming Dynasty building. What I love most is the integration of villagers and towns. The must-check-in is the same as the background of the 20-yuan RMB. It's a pity that the season is wrong and the river water is not abundant. But it is still a beautiful scene of mountains and rivers.
Xingping Ancient Town is actually just a snack street now, but the commercial atmosphere is not too strong. After all, tourists always need to eat when they come here.
Xingping Ancient Town is a small town on the Li River. Now it has been built into an ancient street with old-time characteristics. There are endless tourists coming here. Although it still retains many characteristics of the aboriginals, most of the locals make a living from tourism. Before the car stopped in Xingping Ancient Town, a group of 40-year-old aunts came up and kept asking "Do you want to take a boat?" and "Do you want to take you to Jiuma Painting Mountain?"
We first strolled around the pedestrian street of the ancient town, which is a professional tourist street. It is no different from the ancient towns in Lijiang, Dali, Suzhou and other places. The stone pavement is shiny from being walked on, and there are various souvenir shops and bars on both sides, playing the most popular music of the day, commemorating the old times of this small town that can never be returned.
The pedestrian street is still some distance away from the 20-yuan RMB background image, so we drove there. Friends who don’t drive can take local motorcycles and Bong-Bongs for 10 yuan per person. Those with good physical strength can also choose to walk, which is about 2 or 3 kilometers.
There is a shop called White Coffee in Xingping Ancient Town. The owner is a beautiful woman.
I have a special liking for coffee. If you like to drink coffee, you can go to her house to have a try. It is No. 88, Xingping Ancient Street, very close to the bus station. Every cup of coffee is ground on the spot, relatively fresh, and the taste is relatively mellow. There are basically not many tourists on the street. Maybe everyone comes to Xingping mainly to see the background attractions of the 20-yuan RMB, and the Nine Horses Painting Mountain attractions are all here. You can go up to Laozhaishan next to Xingping Wharf to see the scenery of the entire Li River. In addition to some artworks, there are some restaurants on the street, but the restaurant business here is relatively bleak, and there are not many tourists to eat. From the bus station, go through Xingping Ancient Street to the end and turn right to the exit to reach Xingping Wharf, which is also the place where tourists take bamboo rafts. Walk over from the bridge of the wharf, and you will reach the first scene of the Li River, the 20-yuan background picture, not far away. This section of bamboo rafting is also the highlight of the Li River. Many tourists who follow the group also start rafting here.
After rafting on the best section of the Li River, you can come here. Compared with the bustling West Street, Xingping is simple and quaint, with smooth bluestone slabs, which shows the original flavor of Yangshuo. There are eight scenic spots and more than 20 scenic spots in Xingping, including Jiuma Huashan, Luosi Mountain, Lianhua Rock, Tianshui Village, etc. US President Clinton once visited Xingping Fishing Village, which attracted many Chinese and foreign tourists.
The ancient stage in the ancient town has now been transformed into an ancient stage cafe.
Xingping Ancient Town is not large in scale, but it still has many cultural relics and historical sites, which are mainly concentrated in Xingping Ancient Street and a fishing village about 2 kilometers away from the town. The original historical environment and features have been relatively intact.
The windows are characteristic of ancient opera stages, and some of the designs made by our predecessors are really great.
The handmade accessories that can be found everywhere in the ancient town are so diverse that it is dazzling.
There are also various kinds of rice wine in the ancient town, including glutinous rice wine, osmanthus wine, Sanhua wine and so on.
There are also various kinds of rice wine in the ancient town, including glutinous rice wine, osmanthus wine, Sanhua wine and so on.
There are really a lot of small accessories sold in the ancient town, especially various bracelets, necklaces and earrings.
There are also some small shops selling specialties in the ancient town. Strolling in the ancient town, you can still appreciate the charm of "long old streets and deep ancient alleys".
Most of the buildings in the ancient town are two-story, with railings and corridors on the second floor. They have very good design concepts, and one can't help but admire the design ideas of the ancients.
In recent years, the government has carried out planning and restoration of the ancient town as a whole, and repaired and protected the ancient buildings, ancient theaters, ancient structures, etc. The ancient town is now in a relatively good state.
The beautiful vases and flower arrangements attract passers-by to stop and take a look.
There are still some elderly people living in the ancient town. They stick to their own families, miss the ancient town when it was young, and lament that time flies and people are getting old.
The long stone road under your feet is the most representative of the vicissitudes of life in the ancient town. Walk along the vicissitudes of life stone road and listen quietly to the history of the ancient town.
Xingping is located in the northeast of Yangshuo County, relatively close to Yangshuo High-speed Railway Station. The Li River near Xingping has many bends, and the reflections of the Li River near Xingping are also quite famous. Among them, the most famous is the reflection of the yellow cloth, where the scenery picture on the back of the 20 yuan note was taken.
From a distance, rows of old houses seem to be embedded between the green hills, which is particularly eye-catching. This is the end point of the Yangdi-Xingping section of rafting. After finishing rafting, you can stop by here for a stroll. Of course, if you are cycling, this is still an important stop. It is worthwhile for us to stop here and taste the ancient flavor of Yangshuo.
The town is not too commercial. As you walk along the road, you will see many local residents, all holding paper umbrellas, which is very romantic.
There is a main street in the town with some souvenir shops. It is probably the busiest street in the town, but there are few tourists. Perhaps the owners of these small shops are very Buddhist and live their own lives. But there are also many Internet celebrity shops and Internet celebrity slogans here.
Tour tips:
If you want to reach Xingping Ancient Town, you can take the bus from Yangshuo Bus Station to Xingping. Each bus runs every 10 minutes. You don't have to queue up to buy tickets. You can buy tickets after getting on the bus. The fare is 10 yuan and the journey takes about 40 minutes. Alternatively, you can go rafting on the Li River from Yangdi to Xingping. After getting off the shore, you can reach Xingping Ancient Town. It is free to visit.
The history and culture are very long, and the commercial atmosphere of the ancient town is not very strong. Most of the remaining ancient buildings are well preserved. The town is not big, but it is worth a visit.
It is said that the most splendid scenery of the Li River is in Xingping. However, since Xingping Town is relatively small, most tourists leave after checking in and taking photos at the 20-yuan RMB background picture shooting location, so there are not many tourists staying overnight. If time permits, you can stay in Xingping for one night. When night falls, the tourists disperse and you can experience the more authentic Guilin landscape.
There are far fewer homestays or hotels in Xingping than in Yangshuo, because many tourists or tour groups basically leave after checking in and visiting the ancient town, and they do not stay overnight.
If you want to see the more primitive ancient town, don't enter from the main gate. You can ask the locals to go through the back door, or park your car at the main gate and walk inside.
Compared with Yangshuo, Xingping Ancient Town is a little deserted. It is bustling during the day, but everything becomes quiet at night. This is mainly because it is basically inhabited by local original residents and still retains its original appearance.
The people in the town all seem very gentle. After dinner, they chat, meditate or take a nap, enjoying the quiet time after dinner. They are not in a hurry and have a sense of otherworldliness.
Walking on the stone road paved with blue mud slabs, looking at the old houses and ancient alleys on both sides of the street, it feels like walking into a certain historical time zone, and a feeling of tranquility and simplicity comes over you.
The farther you get to the end, the fewer people there are and the quieter the ancient town becomes. All of this shows the most primitive and tranquil style of the ancient town. Feeling the comfort and tranquility of the ancient town while walking, people's impetuous hearts can't help but become much calmer.
Xingping Ancient Town at night brings me a refreshing and magical feeling. At this moment, I am enjoying every scene of the ancient town under the flickering lights, taking in every detail...
It is surrounded by mountains and rivers and is very quiet. The overall structure is white walls, black tiles, and stone alleys. It feels like an ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River. It is also the most beautiful ancient town along the Li River and is especially suitable for taking photos.
There are very few tourists here, making the narrow streets look very empty. Like other ancient towns that have been commercialized by tourism, this ancient town is basically full of specialty products, whether food or entertainment, and there are also some small cafes and bars.
If you don't take pictures, shop, or go into any store, you can finish the tour in ten minutes. But for those who love taking pictures, you can spend a whole day here. Each store has its own style.
It was still early, so we strolled around Xingping Ancient Town, walked on the ancient bluestone slabs, listened to the breeze blowing through the streets and alleys, and suddenly we smelled a familiar smell. My friend said it was the smell of wood in an old wooden house.
Maybe it was not a holiday, there were not many people entering from the entrance. Like most ancient towns, the shops sold some souvenirs. Only the bluestone road, which was polished very smooth by time, had some old charm. The further you go in, the more depressed it is. Most of the shops are closed, and the houses are empty. There is no human atmosphere. It feels like an abandoned body, silently telling the years. The Xingping specialties mentioned in the introduction of Xingping hanging on the wall are not seen in the ancient town, but there are only tourist souvenirs that are the same as those in the whole country. Xingping Ancient Town, which is next to the essence of the Lijiang River, has developed into this today, which is a pity. It is not as foreign as Yangshuo West Street, but it is not as simple as before. It can be said that the beautiful Guilin landscape and the embarrassing Xingping Ancient Town.
Most of the various ancient brick and tile structures in the town are well preserved, and ancient brick, tile and pottery buildings can be seen everywhere. The pedestrian street in the ancient city is prosperous and bustling, with many shops.
Misty Li River is used to describe the Li River after the rain, the misty look is also very beautiful.
I originally planned to visit the ancient street after arriving in Xingping and then head to Yangshuo, but I suddenly liked this small town with few people and decided to stay in Xingping to experience the tranquility of the Li River. Here I saw the oranges fruiting and blooming at the same time, and occasionally saw sheep running on the road. I found the background picture of the 20-yuan ticket while standing still. I felt the most primitive life in the town when I woke up early in the morning. Fishermen collecting nets, breakfast shops, and farmers going to the market, these scenes felt like being at home. Here, I left some memories and will see you again if I am destined to. I am glad to come to this place and quietly enjoy its quiet beauty. Goodbye, Xingping.
Xingping Ancient Town is small, but there are many people, all of whom are tourists who come here to see the scenery on the back of the 20-yuan RMB.
The driver took us to Chaobanshan Wharf. From the angle of the wharf, we can see the pattern on the back of the 20-yuan RMB --- the reflection of the yellow cloth. However, I compared again and again and found that this angle is not the best angle to take pictures of the reflection of the yellow cloth. Although the scenery is still picturesque when the boats pass by on the river, the angle is not exactly the same.
So we walked back along the main road. There were fenced-off "private viewing platforms" along the way. They all claimed that their angle was the best angle of the 20-yuan RMB landscape pattern. However, these private viewing platforms were free of charge, and tourists could use the positions to take photos as they pleased. The only thing the businesses made money from was those tourists who didn't have cameras but wanted to take professional photos. A photo cost 20 yuan, and 2-inch photos were free of charge.
I tried several positions but was never satisfied. Finally, I walked to the "First View of Li River" viewing platform and found an angle that was very close.
At this time, the sun occasionally appeared from the clouds, adding a layer of golden light to the water of the Li River. Some sections of the water surface have dried up, revealing a water bed with green grass growing on it. The land in the middle is only 5-6 meters away from the river bank, and the Li River fishing fire show takes place on this grass.
The Li River fishing lights have a history of thousands of years in Yangshuo. An old fisherman wearing a straw raincoat, egrets docked at the bow of the boat, and fishing lanterns are the standard features of the Li River fishing lights.
Using a pole to hit the water, casting a net... these thousand-year-old fisherman's fishing movements have now become a performance. To watch, you need to pay a 60 yuan filming fee and make an appointment in advance. We can only watch from afar on the shore, watching the old man pose in various ways for photographers to take pictures, and it feels a bit boring.
There are also some smart people who ask private bamboo rafts docked on the shore to take them over to the grass 5-6 meters away to take pictures. They pay 10 yuan per person, and if there are a lot of people, the boat owner will take them over, thus saving the 60 yuan fee.
However, this situation depends on luck. It is said that some people have been scolded for taking photos. However, everyone likes to capture the most beautiful scenery in the camera. Whether to watch or not this performance representing Yangshuo folk customs is up to you.
There are many buses from Yangshuo to Xingping. The fare is 10 yuan per person. The last bus is around 6:30.
After more than half an hour's drive, we arrived at Xingping. We immediately went to the old street for a walk.
Compared with Yinshuo, there are fewer tourists here and it is quieter. But there may not be much planning, so it looks very scattered.
Despite this, there are also many specialty stores.
Walk to the riverside and you can take a boat to cruise the Li River. But again, there are a lot of touts. But because it is managed by the travel company, the price is very fixed. They say they can take you to other places to take a boat, which will be cheaper. But it is best to negotiate the price yourself first.
From time to time, people would come out like this to be photographed, but usually they did it to create a highlight for tour groups or photography groups.
In fact, when you come to an ancient town, you don't have to have too high expectations. Low expectations can sometimes bring surprises. Commercialization is definitely here. You should know that the current status of various ancient towns in my country is similar. There are many shops selling ethnic jewelry on the street. I bought handmade stone jewelry from an aunt on the roadside. Because it was off-season, I bargained a little and it was OK. It was still very cheap~
Although it is called an ancient town, people actually go there to cruise the Li River on bamboo rafts. They are called bamboo rafts, but they are actually diesel boats. Except for the extremely loud noise of the diesel engine, everything else was fine.
It’s a beautiful ancient town, but it’s not well preserved. Many new houses are built in the ancient town, which is quite inconsistent. There are also some abandoned houses, which is a pity.
Xingping is a major tourist town in Yangshuo. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers and has a variety of scenery. It is the most beautiful ancient town along the Li River. Xingping Ancient Street is a stone street about 1 km long. The alleys with white walls, black tiles and stone slabs are very interesting. There are not many people on the streets of the ancient town, but the layout is very good. If you have time, it is worth a visit.
The ancient town is now very small, and the most intact part is the ancient stage, which has a unique architectural style, fine workmanship, exquisite patterns, elegance and solemnity, and smooth woodworking knife skills, and has a high cultural relic value. Lion dances, dragon dances, and operas are the traditional cultural activity centers of Xingping Ancient Town during festivals, performing Gui Opera, Peking Opera, Caidiao, folk songs, etc.
In the eyes of Chinese people, Xingping Ancient Town has become a must-see tourist attraction because the pattern on the 20-yuan RMB note is here.
Xingping is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with beautiful scenery, white walls, black tiles and stone alleys. It is the most beautiful ancient town along the Li River. As can be seen from the picture, it is the magic of nature that has created such a beautiful river bend line. The mountains in the distance are reflected on the river surface, which is very charming. This is the business card of Chinese tourism. It is so popular among foreign tourists, which shows that its status is extraordinary.
In fact, you can drive into the Xingping Ancient Town Pier. Similarly, if you don't take the Li River rafting or the pier cruise, there is no charge. So by chance, we spent the least money here, but took the most shocking pictures. There are small stalls around the pier selling tourist specialties, seasonal fruits, etc.
Xingping Ancient Town is a veritable ancient town, with smooth bluestone roads, Tang and Song Dynasty opera stages, Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings, Xiping County ruins, temple ruins, etc., which still exist today. Some opera stages are free to watch, but you have to walk along the prescribed route, and the route is full of tourist products; the oldest street is now crowded with people, and tourists from all over the country and even the world come in droves to see the style of this ancient street. In a corner of the ancient town, I accidentally walked into such a short and remote old street. There is almost no commercial atmosphere, and all local residents live here. Looking at the old houses, old neighbors, and old fishing nets, it seems like walking into a certain historical time zone, and the rustic feeling comes to the face.
The location of the scene on the back of the 20-yuan RMB is lush and green, with mountains and rivers. This is what Xingping looks like. Xingping is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with beautiful scenery, white walls, black tiles and stone alleys. It is the most beautiful ancient town along the Li River. Throughout the ages, the beautiful mountains and rivers of Xingping have attracted countless literati and poets.
I don't like Xingping during the day because of the noisy tourists. It is not like West Street where most people are traveling independently. In Xingping, most people come here for rafting on the Li River. After the rafting, all the tourists will leave, and only the people who live here will remain.
I like the night in Xingping Ancient Town, where there is a strong atmosphere of life. The stone-paved street of more than 1 km can be walked to the end in less than half an hour. At night, the old street of the ancient town is quiet and peaceful. In front of the wooden doors of the old houses, there are residents enjoying the cool air.
The painter Xu Beihong once said that "the beauty of Yangshuo is in Xingping". This is a place suitable for daydreaming. Go into a coffee shop at random. The shop is empty except for the lady working at the bar. Here you can let go of everything and follow your own thoughts.
There are businesses here, which can meet basic living needs, but the business atmosphere is not strong, and the main tone of the ancient town is still simple. The old houses are so old that you can't tell their age. Some are fashionable, some are literary, some are used for living, some are locked, and some are dilapidated.
Some people say that Xingping is not suitable for overnight stays, but I want to say that after all, everyone wants different things in their travels. It would be meaningless if you don’t go rafting on the Li River or climb Laozhaishan Mountain in Xingping during the day. Only at night can you fully experience this feeling of tranquility and comfort.
Get up early in the morning, climb up to the roof of the inn, and watch the mountains looming in the clouds and mist. This is the real fairyland. You have to get up early to see the scenery in Xingping. After 7 o'clock, the tourists in the tour group will arrive and there will be a sea of people.
My travel notes on Guilin/Yangshuo/Longji Terraces: http://www.mafengwo.cn/i/10065982.html
There is a commercial street in Xingping Ancient Town, selling snacks and gifts, but it’s not very interesting.
However, on the way from Xingping Ancient Town to Xingping Wharf, you can see some scenery. There is a reflection of yellow cloth at Xingping Wharf (the location of the RMB 20 banknote).
I stayed in Xingping Ancient Town for three days. I went to the town to find a coffee shop one night, but I didn't visit the town at all. Just from the outside, I knew that there were too many people here, and the specifications and services were not as good as those of the famous ancient towns. However, the scenery near the ancient town was still good. Laozhaishan has been reviewed separately. The rest of the time was basically spent in the river at the 20-yuan viewing platform.
It is called the river, but it is actually a small oasis in the middle of the river. This section is very lively every day in the evening two hours before sunset. Tourists bring the elderly and children to swim in the river (the water depth is just right and the water quality is also OK), and photography groups and internationally famous actor fishermen have also come out to discuss business. The fisherman who fishes with cormorants wears red clothes and has a small white beard. Not only is the costume suitable for the scene, but the acting skills are also very good. For 400 yuan, a photography group can book the performance. From casting nets to fishing fires, the long guns and short guns can be said to be a feast for the eyes. If you want to watch the casting of nets alone, it's 10 yuan per time. If you don't take a good picture, spend 10 yuan to come again. Everything looks happy.
Of course, fishermen will choose to appear around 20 yuan where the background is the most beautiful for taking photos, and it will definitely not be a wrong idea to go there to find the scenery.
Xingping Ancient Town no longer has the bustle of the past. Some shops are even closed. It is crowded with tourists during the day but disappears at night. Everything returns to its normal state.
Xingping Ancient Town belongs to tourists during the day and locals at night. It is a very pleasant thing to chat with the kind old ladies in the ancient town and the bosses of the specialty shops. There are no noisy bars and no roar of cruise ships. Whether it is the locals chatting and laughing by the Li River or the aunties dancing in the square, the Li River has also returned to calm. The peaceful and peaceful scene makes people feel extremely comfortable.
It is highly recommended to stay in Xingping for one night. I personally like to stay in the farmhouse in Xiaobei Village across the bridge. The address is excellent and easy to find. It is next to the Li River and the 20 yuan background shooting location. The innkeepers are all very nice.
If you are lucky, you can go to the top of the building to see the clouds in the morning, or climb Laozhai Mountain to see the sea of clouds and overlook the Li River. However, the mountain road is slippery and steep, so be careful when walking. Or you can climb the small back mountain of Lijiang Bay, which is what the locals call, to overlook the big bend of the Li River. For specific pictures, please see my notes and travel notes
