It takes a whole day to visit all three scenic spots. I got on the scenic area sightseeing bus at around seven in the morning and left the scenic area at around five-thirty in the afternoon.



There are only three places worth visiting in the entire scenic area, in short, the three waterfalls. The Tianxing Lake Water Forest and other attractions that we passed by while walking are completely uninteresting and feel like small attractions that are just there to make up the numbers.



One is the Great Falls (including the Water Curtain Cave. You must wear a raincoat when passing through the Water Curtain Cave, otherwise you will become a drowned chicken. Raincoats are sold inside and outside the scenic area, and the price is about the same.)

The Water Curtain Cave is very interesting, but it will be super crowded during peak hours, and it will take a long time to walk through the cave. So you either go to the waterfall early in the morning when the tour group has not arrived yet, or go to the waterfall around 4pm when the tour group has left.



The second is Doubotang Waterfall, which is said to be the location for the 1985 version of Journey to the West where the four masters and apprentices led their horses across the river.



The third is the Silver Chain Falling Pond Waterfall at Tianxing Bridge (you will pass by Tianxing Cave on the way, so if you are interested in caves, you can go in and take a look)



Tianxing Lake is the dividing point between the upper and lower parts of the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area. Personally, I feel that there is nothing interesting or fun to see in the upper part. Anyway, I was concentrating on walking and didn’t take many photos.



Generally, tour groups will leave the scenic area through the exit next to Tianxing Lake after reaching it, but the most salient attraction of Tianxing Bridge, the Silver Chain Falling Pond Waterfall, is in the lower half, so if time permits, you must visit the lower half.



Doupotang Waterfall, unlike the previous large waterfall, is famous for its special fan-shaped structure formed by karst landform.

How to get to Huangguoshu Waterfall? There is a tourist bus at Anshun Passenger Transport East Station that goes directly to Huangguoshu Waterfall. The ticket price is 20 yuan and the journey takes about 50 minutes. We chose to charter a car. We happened to meet a couple from Northeast China who were looking for passengers at the hostel. They had already contacted a driver. The original plan was to go for 150 yuan per trip. Later, we proposed to charter a car for the whole day, which would cost 235 yuan for a couple. If we took a tourist bus + a bus to the scenic area, it would cost 180 yuan for a couple.

It took about an hour's drive and we arrived at the entrance of the scenic area at 08:15. The route planned by the chartered driver for us was: Doupotang-Tianxing Bridge-Huangguoshu, so as to avoid going back.

The drop of Doupotang Waterfall is not very high, with mountains and peaks, and abundant water, which is very beautiful. After a simple stroll, we left the scenic area for lunch. The attractions in Doupotang Scenic Area are still very simple, just the waterfall.

Doupotang Scenic Area: Located 1 km upstream of Huangguoshu Waterfall, the scenic area is 21 meters high and 105 meters wide at the top of the waterfall. It is the widest waterfall in the Huangguoshu Waterfall Group. The waterfall seems to flow from the sky, spreading over the calcified beach dam of more than 100 meters. When a huge amount of flood water passes through, the cave on the left side of the waterfall will produce a strange resonance and emit a low roar, so the Doupotang Waterfall is also called the roaring waterfall. In the scenic area, hundreds of flowers bloom and thousands of birds sing. Hundreds of natural birds live here, and it is also called the "Ecological Ten Thousand Birds Garden". This is also the filming location of the ending song "Where is the Road" of the 1986 TV series "Journey to the West". The scenery is spectacular, and if you are lucky, you can also see a rainbow. There are also fish and shrimps hidden in the Bitan Lake, so the local Buyi people often hold nets to catch small fish and shrimps in the lake. Suggested play time: 45-60 minutes.

There is another special phenomenon of Doupotang Waterfall: before the flood comes, the waterfall will make a roaring sound, so it is also called "Roaring Waterfall". "I heard the roaring sound of water from afar, and looking north from the gap in the ridge, I suddenly saw water pouring down the cliff from the northeast mountain armpit and pounding into the deep abyss. I could only see the white water several feet wide above, with snow surging in the air, but I couldn't see the bottom, probably because it was separated by the opposite cliff." This is Xu Xiake's description of Doupotang Waterfall in "Xu Xiake's Travel Notes".

This scenic spot is very small and 40 minutes is ok.

After entering the scenic area, walk all the way to Doupotang. Doupotang Waterfall is the widest waterfall in the Huangguoshu Waterfalls group.

It's quite standard. If you can walk in and see the panoramic view of Huangguoshu for free, you don't have to go to Doupotang. If you buy a package ticket, you can see all of them.

Doupotang is indeed not big, and it usually only takes half an hour to visit it, but it is still a classic scene in Journey to the West, and I feel that it is more worth visiting than the first half of Tianxing Bridge.

It feels like a name only. I took a few photos and it took about half an hour.

Each waterfall has its own characteristics. After walking for a while, it is still very happy to hear the sound of the waterfall and see its true appearance.
