I came at the end of April. The water volume was not sufficient and the scenery was average, but the Water Curtain Cave was still very interesting. It is not recommended to take the 50-meter escalator. Taking the escalator up means that you can see the waterfall at the Rhinoceros Beach and then return to take the escalator. This is more suitable for elderly people who are not physically strong enough. It is more recommended to walk down by yourself, first visit the Water Curtain Cave, then visit the Rhinoceros Beach below, and then take the escalator up the mountain to go out. In addition, you will pass a long pedestrian street on the way out. If you want to avoid taking a detour, you can go out from the small door at the entrance.

Huangguoshu Waterfall is the largest waterfall in Asia, the most famous scenic spot in Guizhou, and a must-see for tourists from other places. The rushing river water rushes down from the cliffs more than 70 meters high to the Rhinoceros Pond, making a deafening sound. The waterfall is 101 meters wide, of which the main waterfall top is 83.3 meters wide. Behind the waterfall, there is a 134-meter-long Water Curtain Cave that runs across the waterfall. Huangguoshu Waterfall offers a 360-degree view. You can go around the back of the waterfall via the small path on the hillside of Shuilian Cave, but the path is very narrow and there are often long queues.

The waterfall is at the innermost part of the scenic area. You can either climb down the mountain or take the escalator. Before you see the real thing, you can hear the majestic sound of water.

Half an hour later, we arrived at the plank road opposite the waterfall. There were a lot of people there, so it takes a lot of luck to take a photo of just you and the waterfall.

After playing for a while, we crossed the iron chain bridge to the Great Falls. From the Great Falls, the water spray and smoke screen were even more powerful. There are many buses from Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area back to Jinyang Bus Station, one bus per hour. You can book the return ticket after arriving at the station. There are many aunties and grandmas selling disposable raincoats at the station, saying that they are worn when passing through the Water Curtain Cave. I considered it and felt that I would not need it, but I still bought it for 5 yuan/piece without bargaining. In fact, you really don’t need to buy it, especially in the dry season, you won’t need it. It’s bigger in summer, but it’s good to take it as a shower.

Huangguoshu Scenic Area is divided into three parts. Each scenic area is a little far from each other. From near to far, they are: Doupotang - Huangguoshu Waterfall - Tianxing Bridge. You can take the scenic area minibus, which costs 50 yuan per person, or you can take the scenic area taxi, which also costs 50 yuan per person. It is independently operated. It is recommended for individual tourists to take a taxi. When there are 3-4 people, the taxi will depart. It is more flexible. If there are not enough people, you can wait for 10 minutes and the taxi will depart. It can be regarded as playing in reverse from far to near, which can avoid the flow of people. The essence is mainly in the two farther scenic areas.

Huangguoshu Waterfall is not as impressive during the dry season. You can take the escalator up and down, but it is not far to walk.

It takes about 1.5-2 hours to get to the Great Falls Scenic Area. If it is peak season, it is hard to say. You will see a queue time sign near the Water Curtain Cave. If it is congested, 4 hours may not be enough. Moreover, the exit to the boarding point is a shopping street, which is a bit far away

The third scenic spot: Huangguoshu. When swimming in the waterfalls, you will first pass a bonsai garden, full of greenery, with various potted plants of different shapes and lush branches and leaves. The flowers on the crape myrtle trees are just beginning to bloom, and the bright red and purple flowers are very dazzling. It is said that crape myrtle flowers can improve official luck.

If you continue walking down, you can choose to take the toll escalator directly down to the viewing platform. We walked along Xuanyuan Road to the viewing platform of the Rhinoceros Pond. Since the waterfall drop is about 3 times that of the Duopotang, the sound is particularly surging when you see the tip of the iceberg in the distance. When you get closer, the huge waterfall rushes down from the top of the mountain, stirring up a rain barrier like a veil, with misty clouds and water vapor. It is impossible to get close to the guardrail. I took a few photos in a row and quickly hid back to enjoy it slowly.

Huangguoshu Lake is in the dry season in winter. Without the "sound of the trees being heard ten miles away", it leans gently against the cliff like a veil.

Although it was the off-season, the Huangguoshu viewing platform was full of onlookers. Fortunately, the roaring sound of water in front of me drowned out all the noise, allowing me to take a good look in the quiet.

I have to complain about the management of Huangguoshu. There were too many people on the first afternoon, so I returned. I went there at 7 am the next day. It was still crowded. The connection between scenic spots in the scenic area can be optimized (learn from Xiaoqikong). It makes people feel that the beautiful scenery has been lost, which is heartbreaking.

This time when I came to Huangguoshu, the water was powerful but not clear, the environment was poor (heartbreaking), and the management needed improvement.

Tips:

Huangguoshu Scenic Area has three major scenic spots, the Grand Waterfall, Tianxing Bridge, and Doupotang Waterfall. Since you enter the scenic area by taking a sightseeing bus, the first stop of the sightseeing bus is Doupotang Waterfall, the second stop is Tianxing Bridge, and the third stop is the Grand Waterfall. We strongly recommend that tourists wait until the Grand Waterfall before getting off, first visit the Grand Waterfall, then go to Tianxing Bridge, and finally go to Doupotang. Because Huangguoshu is now in the peak season, there are a lot of people. If you wait until the afternoon to go to the Grand Waterfall, you may not even be able to enter the Water Curtain Cave, which will leave you with regrets.

Generally speaking, the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area has the most people from 11:00 to 13:00, the Doupotang Scenic Area has the most people from 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning, and the Big Waterfall has far more people in the afternoon than in the morning. Therefore, it is recommended that you take the following route to visit: Doupotang - Big Waterfall - Tianxing Bridge.

In the morning, it usually takes about half an hour to visit Doupotang, which is quite relaxing. Then walk halfway to the big waterfall, see the highlights of the scenic area, and take beautiful photos when there are fewer people. In the afternoon, it takes a long time to walk to Tianxing Bridge, where there are fewer people and beautiful scenery. You can take photos without people at any time. Be sure to walk the entire route to see Yinlianzhuitan Waterfall. This route has the least people and saves the most time.

When we arrived at Huangguoshu, there were many people when we took the scenic sightseeing bus. Although there were not many people, it was still a bit like the atmosphere of a group trip on National Day. I could feel the heavy sense of age of the scenic spot all the way. The stone railings, wooden blocks, and rocks on both sides were painted with thick or heavy moss. There was heavy fog around the waterfall, and the mist was hazy. The glasses were covered with water vapor that could not be wiped clean, but the moist air made people feel very comfortable. The Water Curtain Cave was closed, and I was a little regretful that I couldn't experience the filming location of Journey to the West. One of the very bad feelings in the scenic area was that there were always people smoking on the road. No matter where I went, the first breath I inhaled was definitely the smell of smoke, which made people feel disgusted. After half a day of play, overall, due to the gloomy weather, the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area, including the Tianxing Bridge, made me a little disappointed. If the weather was fine, it would be very ideal to wash my lungs in this natural oxygen bar.

Huangguoshu Waterfall is one of the must-see attractions when visiting Guizhou.

It is worthy of the title of "Asia's No. 1 Waterfall". It is so shocking that you can feel the water vapor even if you stand far away. It would be perfect if God gave us a rainbow at this time, but unfortunately the weather is very bad today. . . . . . Actually! Haha, there are heads under the waterfall! ! It is difficult to take a photo with so many people, so we simply climbed higher and admired the Huangguoshu Waterfall from a different perspective. Finally, I took a satisfactory photo. It was another feeling to watch the waterfall at the highest point. I felt that I was no longer small. I had to integrate the momentum of the waterfall into my body, and the small universe exploded. . . . . . . We came down from the height and prepared to go back and cross the bridge to the other side of the river to see the waterfall again. After crossing the bridge, we came to the bottom of the waterfall again. Here we can feel the waterfall more closely, but the angle of taking pictures is slightly inferior to the other side.

Tips: The scenic area has already planned the vehicles in a coordinated manner. If your private car arrives early, you can park it in the scenic area’s parking lot.

In the scenic area, you can only take the car inside. There are two options: one is that there are sightseeing cars in the scenic area, which are like buses, but you have to wait in line; the other is that there is a taxi team in the scenic area, which costs 50 yuan per person and serves as a shuttle bus between each scenic spot. If there are three or four people, this type is recommended. You can get on and go as you please. The taxi will pick us up at the inn where we are staying and will also take us back to the inn in the end. It is very convenient.

The mist from the waterfall is quite heavy, so it is best to prepare a plastic raincoat in advance. Of course, the scenic area also has them, but it is not cost-effective.

The Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area is divided into three scenic areas, namely the Doupotang Scenic Area, the Grand Waterfall Scenic Area and the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area. The core scenic area is the Grand Waterfall Scenic Area. The ticket includes the three scenic areas for two days. You can walk through all three scenic areas, but you may be exhausted after walking through them all. It is recommended that you buy a 50-yuan sightseeing bus ticket. Before getting on the bus, you can ask the driver which scenic area the car will go to first. My suggestion is to go to the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area first, then to the Grand Waterfall Scenic Area, and finally to the Doupotang. If it is the peak season, no one can enter the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area after 9 o'clock, which is super scary. And if you take a car, try to sit on the right side, and you can see a lot of scenery on the right; the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area has two exits. The first exit is at Gao Laozhuang, which is Tianxing Lake. I suggest that you walk through all the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Areas. It may be a little tiring, but I think the beautiful scenery is in the second half, such as the huge and beautiful Yinlianzhutan and Tianxing Cave. In the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area, you can basically see the typical karst landforms such as waterfalls and caves. There is a cable car at the back of Tianxing Bridge, which costs 10 yuan per person and has a unique view. At the exit of Tianxing Bridge, you can take a free sightseeing bus to take you back to the gate of the scenic area to take the shuttle bus. However, after getting off the sightseeing bus (the place where you get off the sightseeing bus is the first exit of Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area - Gao Laozhuang), you have to walk uphill, which is very tiring. The official of the scenic area said that this section of road is only 400m, but I don’t believe it. After visiting Tianxing Bridge, it is basically noon, so you can go to the entrance of the Great Waterfall Scenic Area to have a meal. There are many restaurants at the entrance of the Great Waterfall Scenic Area, and the prices and tastes are not much different. If you are afraid of being ripped off, you can go to Dicos in front of the main gate of the scenic area; the entrance of the Great Waterfall Scenic Area is a botanical garden. You can see various bonsai like this on this road, and you can also see the origin of the name of Huangguoshu - Huangjushu. You can follow a tour guide, and the tour guide will usually point it out. After passing the botanical garden, there is a hall where you can take an escalator down the mountain to see the waterfall. It seems that only cash is accepted for a round trip of 30 yuan and 50 yuan. It takes about 4 minutes per trip. If you don't want to sit, there is a passage on the left side of the hall where you can walk all the way down. The scenery on the side of the walking passage is pretty good. Some forks can also lead to the Water Curtain Cave. If there are too many people in the peak season, don't queue up to go to the Water Curtain Cave. You can queue up for more than an hour and still see nothing. You can bring an umbrella when you go to see the waterfall in the rainy season. The water mist around the waterfall is really big. If you are too tired after visiting the big waterfall, you can give up the Doupotang Scenic Area. There is only one waterfall and a journey to the west in the Doupotang Scenic Area, which makes people less tempted to go. There are food and accommodation in the new city not far from the scenic area. After 6 o'clock in the evening, there is a grilled chicken wing restaurant in the new city square. It's delicious! And cheap! He has a lot of family members, and you can find it by looking at the queue. There is a parking lot at the Xincheng Ticket Center. Self-driving is not allowed in the scenic area, so you can park your car there.

ps: In recent years, Guizhou tourist attractions have been offering great discounts to outsiders, often with half-price or free tickets. You can wait and see the policy when you come. Especially for tourists from Qingdao, Qingdao is a supporting city of Anshun, and Anshun's attractions offer the greatest discounts to Qingdao.

Tips: During the peak season, self-driving vehicles must park in the scenic area parking lot and take the sightseeing bus to the various scenic spots; during the off-season, self-driving vehicles can drive directly to the parking lots of the scenic spots without purchasing sightseeing bus tickets, so friends who drive themselves should ask the staff at the ticket office whether private cars can enter on the day. Friends who do not drive themselves must remember to buy sightseeing bus tickets, because the three scenic spots are far apart, and there is no need to waste time and energy for 50 yuan.

[Recommended route] Doupotang-Big Waterfall-Tianxing Bridge. This route is for off-peak tours, and the Tianxing Bridge, which takes the longest time and is most likely to be crowded with tourists, is placed in the afternoon. This can avoid the congested period when the Big Waterfall passes through the Water Curtain Cave (the passage is narrow and needs to be passed in single file), and reduce the time wasted waiting.

[Big Waterfall] The main attraction of the scenic area, the location of the Water Curtain Cave. Go straight after entering the entrance, pass through the bonsai garden and carp pond. It is recommended to take the escalator up and down to save walking time. After going down the escalator, go forward along the left side, pass through the Water Curtain Cave, cross the suspension bridge and take the escalator back. The waterfall is yellow during the flood season, but the road to the Water Curtain Cave will be closed due to the large waterfall. The picture below is in November.

Let's talk about the sightseeing bus. As soon as you enter the gate of the scenic area, someone will greet you to buy a sightseeing bus ticket. The sightseeing bus is in the form of a taxi (see the photo), which is mainly for individual tourists. At first, I thought it was a scam and unreliable. After personal experience, it is very reliable and has a good service attitude. It is more flexible than the bus in the scenic area. The cost is the same as the bus sightseeing bus in the scenic area, 50 yuan per person.

It is a good choice to come here in summer, a summer resort. The tour time of the scenic area is about 5 hours, and if you visit it carefully, it will be about 7 hours. The ticket is 180 yuan, and an additional 50 yuan is required for the scenic area bus fee. The scenic area is very large, and you need to take a car to go from scenic spot to scenic spot. There are two types of cars to choose from, one is a taxi in the scenic area, and the other is a bus, both of which cost 50 yuan. It is recommended to take a taxi and set off when there are four people.

In fact, Huangguoshu is a group of waterfalls, and the Grand Waterfall is just the largest one. It is said on the Internet that you can hear the roar of the Grand Waterfall at the cable car in the Bonsai Garden, but I didn't hear it. I rushed to the Rhinoceros Pond and walked down the mountain road for more than ten minutes before I saw the Grand Waterfall. I vaguely saw the Grand Waterfall through the bushes, and in the distance there was a deafening roar, and the sound of thousands of horses galloping was like thunder. The Water Curtain Cave was closed, so I couldn't see the Grand Waterfall from the cave. I watched the waterfall from the middle angle. Unexpectedly, the sky cleared and a rainbow appeared. It was a surprise.

We were lucky today. The weather was clear with blue sky and white clouds, and we could see the whole waterfall. If it rained or was cloudy, we would probably only see the lower half of the waterfall, which was covered by water vapor. The only regret today was that the "Water Curtain Cave" was closed to the public. When you get to the front of the waterfall, you must wear a raincoat. The splashes of water are exactly the rhythm of rain. You have to protect your camera and mobile phone from water. If you want to take a photo with the waterfall, you have to pose quickly, otherwise you will become a drowned chicken in a short while. There are actually several viewing platforms at Huangguoshu Waterfall, but we only went to one this time. We are a little tired of seeing too many waterfalls. In fact, although Huangguoshu is the most majestic of the three waterfalls we saw today, the one that impressed me the most is the Yinlianzhuitan Waterfall.

You can check in directly at the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, which is more convenient than going to Anshun.

Take the high-speed rail from Guiyang North Station to Anshun West, 30 minutes. Because it was off-season, I chartered a seven-seater car from Anshun West to Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area for 150 yuan. The return bus to Anshun West cost 22 yuan and stopped at three stations, Anshun West, Railway Station and East Station. The bus waiting point was right at the entrance of Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area, very convenient!

Although the waterfall in the dry season does not have such an astonishing amount of water, it has a bit of gentleness and charm that is not seen in the peak season.

There were fewer people there at the end of November and it was so exciting to walk around. The air was very fresh and the scenic area was very clean. It was a natural oxygen bar that could make people feel instantly happy. No wonder the young lady here said that people here live long lives!

Many people only walked half of the way. If you have plenty of time and the weather is good, it is recommended to walk the entire way. However, it is quite tiring and my legs hurt for two days!

The route we took was recommended by the guide, but it was really hard. The guide for walking to the Doupotang Waterfall said it would take more than ten minutes, but we felt like we walked for half an hour. My friend didn't want to walk downstream after seeing the plank road, so he just found a place to take a bus to Tianxing Bridge. It was really a long, long way. Many tour guides said they would take you a shortcut when you enter the Tianxing Bridge, but don't believe them, it's the same way. Huangguoshu Waterfall can be regarded as the most tiring one on this trip. Friends, remember to prepare dry food.

Huangguoshu Waterfall can be considered to be above medium water.

After entering the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area, you will first arrive at the bonsai garden. The real journey to the waterfall begins after you leave the bonsai area. This is the time to choose whether to take the escalator to the waterfall or walk forward. In fact, it is not far, just half an hour.

It is impossible to take a picture of the waterfall with blue sky, white clouds and rainbow. Well, I won't leave if I take pictures from all angles. The water curtain cave is not open, and the raincoat I carry is not used. I am not satisfied...

The scenic area sightseeing bus first arrives at the first stop, Doupotang. When you walk in, you can see a very large and wide waterfall. Although the sky is gloomy, it is not raining. Here is a key point: you must walk from Doupotang to Huangguoshu! Although you have to walk a distance by yourself, you can see the whole picture of Huangguoshu Waterfall at the top, which is the photo on the ticket. I think this position is the most beautiful to see the waterfall. If you take a sightseeing bus to Huangguoshu Scenic Area after Doupotang, you will miss this excellent location. So I really recommend everyone to take this road. In fact, it is not very far. You will arrive after a while. On the way, you will pass by the statue of Xu Xiake. The first sight of Huangguoshu Waterfall is really super shocking. The famous Huangguoshu Waterfall that I have known since childhood appeared in front of me. It is still very exciting haha! Then slowly walk down to the waterfall. The more you go down, the more tourists there are. Most of them go there by sightseeing bus. Unfortunately, the Water Curtain Cave is under maintenance and cannot be walked in to see it. The prepared raincoat and shoe covers are useless. Seeing the waterfall up close is of course more shocking, and the rumbling sound is even more magnificent. I sigh at the beautiful mountains and rivers of our motherland. We really have all the beautiful scenery. We have a proud face! You can choose to take a paid elevator out of the scenic area, but we still choose to walk. It’s a bit tiring, but fortunately the journey is not too far.

The Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area is divided into three scenic spots: Doupotang, Huangguoshu Waterfall, and Tianxing Bridge. Tickets are valid for 2 days, but you can only enter the same scenic spot once. Because I brought my children with me and like to walk and take photos, I arranged a day and a half to slowly visit. If time is limited, you can actually visit it in one day. You must buy a sightseeing bus ticket. Don't think about saving this cost unless you are a hiking enthusiast and have plenty of time. Tickets do not have to be purchased in the scenic area. If there are many people, you can directly charter a car outside. The cost is similar to that of buying tickets in the scenic area. The only difference is that if you travel in the peak season, you can save time waiting in line for the sightseeing bus. There were not many people when we went there, and almost everyone came and went, so we chose to buy tickets in the scenic area.

Generally, if you plan a day, you will visit Tianxing Bridge in the morning, Huangguoshu and Doupotang in the afternoon. After I finished the trip, I found that this arrangement is indeed the most reasonable. If the weather is good, Huangguoshu must be visited in the afternoon, and it is best to visit around 2-4 o'clock, because the Huangguoshu Waterfall is backlit in the morning, and there will be shadows when taking pictures in the sun. In the afternoon, the sun will shine on the front of the waterfall, and there is a high probability of seeing a rainbow. When we went there, the Water Curtain Cave was closed. The innkeeper had informed us in advance, so the raincoats we brought were not opened. According to the innkeeper, someone committed suicide in the Water Curtain Cave... Later, I met a hawker selling raincoats at the entrance of the scenic area. I only said: Why bring raincoats when the Water Curtain Cave is closed, and the hawker left tactfully.

There are few small attractions at Doupotang and Huangguoshu Waterfall, so the tour is quick.

Although it was the off-season, there were still many tourists at popular attractions, and taking photos with strangers was inevitable.

Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area: Huangguoshu Waterfall is the largest waterfall in China and Asia, and one of the most famous waterfalls in the world. There are six viewing platforms in the scenic area, where you can enjoy the beauty of the waterfall from six directions: top, bottom, front, back, left and right. The Water Curtain Cave and Doupotang scenic areas of Huangguoshu Waterfall are the filming locations of the 1986 TV series "Journey to the West". It is the largest first-level waterfall among the nine-level waterfalls of Baishui River, a tributary of Dabang River in the Pearl River system. It is named after the homonym of "Huangguoshu", a common plant in the area - Huanggerong.

Arrived at Huangguoshu at 8 o'clock, but there were already many people at the entrance of the scenic spot. Go to the ticket center to exchange for paper tickets, and there is a sightseeing bus for 50 yuan. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the ticket center to the gate of the scenic spot, and it takes 10-20 minutes from the gate to the first scenic spot "Tupotang". It feels good to walk with so many people, and you won't feel tired. But for those who can't walk, it is recommended to take a sightseeing bus. The price is not expensive, which can save time and effort. It is also worth mentioning that the scenic spot tour route is the farthest. When returning from Tianxing Bridge to the ticket center, you will pass by two other scenic spots. Each scenic spot will stop and let people go, so the recommended tour route is: Tianxing Bridge-Big Waterfall-Tupotang. There is a distance from Tupotang to the Big Waterfall. On the way, you will pass by the Xu Xiake Monument, the forest plank road and some pavilions. Those who have plenty of time can stroll around slowly. After entering the range of the Big Waterfall, you can see its figure in different locations, which is magnificent and magnificent. To get to the center of the Great Falls Scenic Area, you need to walk down a winding plank road. Be careful not to slip in the morning or in rainy weather. You will know its magnificence only after you walk down it. At the same time, the crowds are also quite spectacular. There are two ways to go to the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area after visiting the Great Falls Scenic Area. One is to return to the next scenic spot by the original route, and the other is to take the escalator directly from the scenic area to the outside of the scenic area, and then take the sightseeing bus to the Tianxing Bridge (the escalator is charged separately, it seems to be 30 yuan). It is a bit far to return to the sightseeing bus point, and you have to go back a long way. There are also many people queuing for the bus. It was originally only a ten-minute drive, but the queue for the bus should take more than this time. Fortunately, the bus will leave when it is full. Basically, it will leave after a while as long as you get on the bus.

The water-rich period of Huangguoshu Waterfall is indeed well-deserved of its reputation. The majestic water pours down from the top of the cliff, hitting the valley floor like a galloping horse. The water mist rises into the sky, reflecting a gorgeous rainbow in the sun. The momentum and visual impact are shocking. I wanted to immerse myself in this gift from nature, but as far as I could see, it was full of people. The viewing platform was packed with people. It was difficult to find a suitable angle to take a picture. To move forward a step, I had to move slowly with the flow of people. What filled my ears was not the roar of the waterfall, but more of noisy voices and the clicks of camera shutters. I finally got closer, but could only take a few quick glances through the gap. The tranquility of wanting to be alone with nature was completely broken, and the magnificent experience that should have been there was diluted to almost nothing. It was a pity for this rare splendor during the water-rich period.

The Huangguoshu Scenic Area is very large, including three scenic areas: Doupotang, Tianxing Bridge and Huangguoshu Waterfall.



The order of my tour is Huangguoshu Waterfall, Water Curtain Cave, Doubotang and Tianxing Bridge.



It takes a whole day to complete all three tours. I got on the scenic area sightseeing bus at around 7:00 in the morning and left the scenic area at around 5:30 in the afternoon.



There are only three places worth visiting in the entire scenic area, in short, the three waterfalls. The Tianxing Lake Water Forest and other attractions that we passed while walking are completely uninteresting and feel like small attractions that are just there to make up the numbers.



One is the Grand Falls (including the Water Curtain Cave. You must wear a raincoat when you pass the Water Curtain Cave, otherwise you will become a drowned chicken. Raincoats are sold inside and outside the scenic area, and the price is similar. The Water Curtain Cave is very interesting, but it will be super crowded during peak hours, and it will take a long time to walk through the cave. So either go to the Grand Falls early in the morning when the tour group has not arrived yet; or enter the Grand Falls at almost four in the afternoon when the tour group has left.



The second is Doubotang Waterfall, which is said to be the location for the 1985 version of Journey to the West where the four masters and apprentices led their horses across the river.



The third is the Yinlianzhuitan Waterfall at Tianxing Bridge (you will pass Tianxing Cave on the way, so those who are interested in caves can go in and take a look). Generally, tour groups go to Tianxing Bridge, walk to Tianxing Lake and then return. They will not go to Yinlianzhuitan Waterfall, so it is not recommended to join a tour group at Huangguoshu.

The Great Waterfall Scenic Area is the core scenic area of the entire Huangguoshu, and it is also the location of the Huangguoshu Waterfall, the largest waterfall in China. Huangguoshu Waterfall was called Baishui River Waterfall in ancient times because it is located on the Baishui River. It is the largest first-level waterfall in the Huangguoshu Waterfall Group and one of the world's famous waterfalls. It is famous for its huge water. The waterfall is 77.8 meters high, of which the main waterfall is 67 meters high; the waterfall is 101 meters wide, of which the main waterfall top is 83.3 meters wide. Huangguoshu Waterfall is a typical erosion crack waterfall in karst landforms. There are many different rankings of waterfalls, but no matter how the Huangguoshu Waterfall is ranked, it is basically the largest waterfall in China. I have never found out what its ranking is in Asia. Of course, there is still a big gap compared to the world's three largest waterfalls. In order to avoid the surging crowds, we rushed back to the Huangguoshu Scenic Area early the next morning. We arrived at the parking lot at 8 o'clock, and there were not many cars. Please refer to the travel notes for the best route for Huangguoshu Waterfall. Go to the Water Curtain Cave from the No. 3 viewing platform, bypass the Water Curtain Cave, cross the suspension bridge and then go to the No. 1 viewing platform. The whole journey is downhill. Of course, if you want to save effort, you can also take the escalator, which costs 30 yuan for a one-way trip and 50 yuan for the whole journey. However, since you will miss the scenic spots along the way if you take the elevator down, I personally recommend walking down the elevator and not going back. It is both labor-saving and you will not miss the scenery along the way. In order to avoid the crowds, many people will rush to Guizhou for tourism as soon as the summer vacation begins. However, it is not a good time to visit Huangguoshu at the end of June and the beginning of July. First of all, too much rain will make the water of the waterfall look turbid and yellow and ugly. In addition, the Water Curtain Cave will also be closed because of too much water. One of the highlights of Huangguoshu is that you can enjoy the waterfall from four directions, front, back, left, and right. It is indeed a pity if you cannot enter the Water Curtain Cave. It is recommended to wear raincoats and sandals in the Water Curtain Cave. Don't believe the security guards' lies, saying that the water is not as much as your sweat. This is purely a lie to make you leave quickly. If you don't wear it, you will definitely get soaked. Shoes that are not waterproof will also get wet. Because there is water on the ground, the road is slippery, so you need to be careful. The Rhinoceros Pond Observation Deck, where you can look up at the Great Falls and the Rhinoceros Pond, is the most beautiful viewing platform and the shooting point for the official photos of the Great Falls. You can buy a ticket for the escalator at the bottom for 30 yuan one way. I think the escalator is still very attractive for people who have walked for several hours. We walked slowly around the Great Falls for about 3 hours.

Huangguoshu is divided into three scenic areas: the Grand Waterfall, the Doupotang, and the Tianxing Bridge. Generally, you start with the Grand Waterfall, the most famous waterfall, then the Doupotang, the filming location of Journey to the West. The Tianxing Bridge is the largest and the highlight, so it is recommended to leave enough time for one day! Although the Grand Waterfall is in the dry season, it is still spectacular!

The viewing platform was already crowded. Yes, you have to be prepared for this when traveling in China during the peak season. But it didn't affect everyone's interest at all. Water vapor was gushing from 200 meters away. If you stayed in the viewing platform for a long time, you would get wet. Some people had prepared disposable raincoats, haha. But I didn't need it. I just wanted to feel the impact of Huangguoshu Waterfall. It was so cool.

Some people wanted to go into the Water Curtain Cave along the mountain road next to the viewing platform to have a more intimate experience with the waterfall. However, I saw a long queue of people, stretching from halfway up the mountain to the Water Curtain Cave. It would take at least half an hour to queue. So I gave up. I heard from people who had gone in that they were soaked all over, and the sound of water was so loud that they couldn't hear what they were saying.

There is an escalator in the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area that you can take. It seems to be 30 yuan for a one-way trip and 50 yuan for a round trip. It is recommended to walk at least when going down the mountain, because if you take the escalator up and down, you will miss the two viewing platforms halfway up the mountain.

Tourists often wonder whether or not to wear a raincoat. My suggestion is that if you are going to the Water Curtain Cave, you need to wear a raincoat; if you are not going to the Water Curtain Cave, it doesn’t matter whether you wear one or not.

In addition, I would like to introduce a viewing platform that few people know about, which overlooks the Huangguoshu Waterfall. It is called the "Six-Cornered Pavilion Viewing Platform". It is located between the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area and the Doupotang Scenic Area. If you do not take the scenic area bus on this section of the road, but walk along the trail, you can pass by here and a Catholic church. We even think that the angle here is better than the viewing platform in the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area, and few tourists know about this location.

The so-called Huangguoshu Waterfall is actually a group of waterfalls centered on Huangguoshu Waterfall, distributed in the Dabang River, Baishui River, Baling River and Wanger River, tributaries of the Beipanjiang River in Guizhou Province, covering an area of 450 square kilometers. The river flows down along the stepped terrain, the riverbed breaks off, interrupting the way forward, and the rushing water jumps down the cliff with the wind into the abyss, thus achieving a gorgeous transformation. The river water hangs on the cliffs, forming 18 waterfalls of different shapes, like a natural "waterfall museum". They form a group and appear in people's vision with a common name. This is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in China, which is what we usually understand as the Huangguoshu Waterfall Group.

These 18 waterfalls make up the Doupotang Scenic Area, Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area and the Big Waterfall Scenic Area respectively. Some of them have a relatively low presence. They obviously debuted together, but they have no names. However, as long as you savor them carefully, you will have the surprise of discovering treasures. The ticket to Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area plus the sightseeing bus is 210 yuan. The ticket and the sightseeing bus are valid for two days. They include the Big Waterfall, Tianxing Bridge and Duopotang. The three attractions cannot be entered repeatedly. In fact, there is no fixed order for boarding. There are buses between the attractions. Check where you are going when you take the bus. It is recommended to spend two days to visit all the scenic spots online. I think it is because of physical strength. It will be very tiring to arrange all the attractions in one day. Secondly, there are many people. The roads of Tianxing Bridge and the Big Waterfall are very narrow. Many places can only be passed one by one in order, which will greatly delay time. I think it is best to play Doupotang on the first day. This attraction is the fastest and can be finished in more than an hour. Then go to the Big Waterfall first the next morning (it took me 2 and a half hours including the waiting time), and finally walk to Tianxing Bridge (it took me 3 hours including the waiting time for half an hour), because you have to queue up to enter the Big Waterfall, which takes a long time. Go earlier and there will be fewer people. It is said on the Internet that there are few people in the second half of Tianxing Bridge. I think everyone knows that the second half is the essence, so there are many people in the second half. Tianxing Bridge takes the longest time, so there is no worry if you put it at the end. If you really don’t have enough time and want to finish it in one day, you can give up Doupotang, because they are all waterfalls, and the scale of the Big Waterfall is much larger.

The tour guide Dai Jie provided patient and careful service throughout the whole process, and was responsible for solving small problems that other tourists encountered during the trip. The route selection was very good. We went to Tianxing Bridge and Yinlianzhuitan, and also saw Huangguoshu Waterfall and Doupotang. The time arrangement was reasonable and compact. We were free all the way, pure play, no shopping. You must see Huangguoshu Waterfall in colorful Guizhou! It was really spectacular. For me who came from the north, it was really a surprise. Huangguoshu Waterfall had a lot of water, and the flying fog was like rain. The clear river of Doupotang, the charming scenery of Tianxing Bridge, and the Fengliu Waterfall of Huangguoshu were full of vitality everywhere. The strange rocks and fog around the mountains were spectacular and shocking.

Summary: Although I am physically exhausted, I am still happy!

Generally speaking, this scenic spot is a walk around the waterfall. After entering the scenic area and walking for more than ten minutes, you will see an elevator entrance. It is strongly recommended to buy a round-trip elevator ticket (💰50/person)!!!

✅Behind the first viewing platform is a winding mountain road that goes around to the back of the waterfall, which is like a water curtain cave. I recommend everyone to go and see it. The scenery is great, especially when the weather is good. You can see a rainbow when you turn out and look down. Water mist + sunshine = rainbow.

✅This section will not feel boring or tiring because there are always beautiful views, but you must bring a raincoat, otherwise you will definitely get soaked. In addition, the road is relatively narrow, and if there are many people, it will be very tiring to queue up.

🚩Highlight: On the morning of the third day, we went out for a walk. The location of the Bailian Hotel is so good. The entrance to the scenic area is just opposite the door. If you walk to the left for about a few minutes, there is an observation deck from which you can look straight at the Huangguoshu Waterfall. The different perspective is particularly beautiful. My companions flew a drone here, which is a great location.

As a result, you have to queue up for 50 minutes to take the bus outside the Great Falls Scenic Area. There are actually quite a lot of cars arranged by the scenic area. At the same time, seven or eight large cars are in place to pick up people. Unfortunately, there are more people, and the queue still takes a long time. People are squeezed and they are about to collapse. It is recommended to charter a car for three or four people, which saves time and effort and suffers less. At 2 pm, it costs 200-300 yuan to charter a car. Ps: The elderly who are exempt from tickets and their companions can get on the bus directly without queuing. It is too painful to watch the elderly people queuing.



Accommodation: I hesitated for a long time between Huangguoshu Hotel and Huangguoshu Guest House, and finally decided on Huangguoshu Guest House, mainly because it was more affordable.

After the experience, Huangguoshu Guest House is suitable for students who travel by car. We booked 3 rooms on the same floor of the villa. There is a small living room where we can eat, watch TV and chat together. It's pretty good. The air conditioning in the room is pretty good, and the quilt is not very damp. Although there was a big spider in the bathroom, the waiter dealt with it in time, which is also reliable. The buffet breakfast is also rich in variety. It is not particularly friendly in terms of transportation. The hotel is very large, and you have to take a battery car from the front desk to the room. The bus from Anshun West to Huangguoshu Scenic Area will pass by Huangguoshu Guest House but will not stop. It will stop directly at the passenger center, which is opposite the ticket office. We have to find a place to store our luggage with our luggage. If you eat in that circle, the boss will take you to the hotel for free, or store your luggage for free. We just found a restaurant to eat, and the taste is really not good.

The hotel only has a scenic bus from the hotel to the scenic area every morning from 8:00 to 8:30. You need to buy tickets in advance and swipe your ID card to get on the bus. On the way back, take the same blue bus and tell the driver to get off at Huangguoshu Guest House, but people who have just arrived usually don't understand. We found a black car for 10 yuan to take us back to the hotel from the ticket hall, which is actually only a few minutes' drive.



Huangguoshu Hotel has more convenient transportation and higher prices. It is right next to the Grand Waterfall Scenic Area of Huangguoshu Scenic Area. After taking the scenic area shuttle bus to the Grand Waterfall Scenic Area, it takes 5-10 minutes to walk to the hotel. You don't have to store your luggage, and you don't have to wait for the bus during the peak season. You can just walk there, saving the money for chartering a car. And you can choose to visit the scenic area in the morning when there are fewer tourists, which is good. I haven't stayed there, so I don't know the specific facilities.



Scenic spot: There is no luggage storage at Doupotang, the big waterfall is not clear, and there is a paid locker at Tianxing Bridge, which is good! Convenient for everyone! It is recommended to take the escalator and cable car. There is no scenery on the road, so it is good to save some energy.

Huangguoshu Waterfall is now offering a half-price discount to tourists from outside Guizhou Province. You can buy half-price tickets on China-TravelNote, 130 yuan per person. There are three ways to visit Huangguoshu. The first is to join a group tour, the second is to take a bus to Anshun first and then go to Huangguoshu, and the third is a travel through bus. You can search for Huangguoshu Waterfall through bus on Taobao. Huangguoshu Waterfall is a large scenic area. It is recommended that you visit it in the order of Tianxing Bridge ☞ Da Waterfall ☞ Doupotang Waterfall. Tianxing Bridge is divided into the upper and lower sections. If time is limited, you can go directly to the lower section. The whole section is about 3 hours of brisk walking. Da Waterfall has a water curtain cave, which is not recommended for everyone to go, because it takes about 90 minutes to queue. Doupotang Waterfall is the smallest and it takes less than an hour.

It was flood season when I went there. The waterfall was very big. There was wind blowing out from under the waterfall. The water kept falling like rain. My camera was covered with water. I kept wiping it and took care to protect it. The waterfall was very impressive. The water curtain cave behind the waterfall was temporarily closed.

There were quite a lot of people when I went there, and it was not the peak season. It might also be because it was not the peak season for Huangguoshu Waterfall, so the water flow was not very large, not as spectacular as those photos on the Internet. You can pass behind Huangguoshu Waterfall, because it was not a peak season, so it was okay not to wear a raincoat. Some water would fall on your body, but it would not get you very wet. If the water flow was high, you might have to wear a raincoat.

You must stay in the scenic area, such as Huangguoshu Hotel. There are three scenic areas in Huangguoshu. Tianxing Bridge, Huangguoshu Waterfall, and Doupotang. It is recommended to visit in two days. Arrive at noon on the first day. You can go to Tianxing Bridge in the afternoon. Start at 2 o'clock and walk until 6 o'clock. 4 hours, don't follow the tour group and turn back halfway to Gaolaozhuang, you must walk to the end, the beautiful scenery is all behind, and the 365 broken stones in front are not worth seeing. Then take the cable car out of the scenic area. The bus of the scenic area will end at 7:30. Check in Huangguoshu Hotel at night. Go early the next morning and ask when Huangguoshu Waterfall opens. I opened at 7 o'clock and arrived at a little after 7 o'clock. Except for the staff sweeping the floor, there was no one in the scenic area. Don't look at the bonsai in front. Don't take the escalator, but it's not open so early. Go directly to the first viewing platform of the waterfall. Then go to the Water Curtain Cave. You can hang around until 9 o'clock without anyone. Then go across the rope bridge on the other side. Arrive at the fifth viewing platform, which is just below the first viewing platform. Finally, return to the escalator and buy a one-way ticket. The escalator opens at 8:30. Then you can see the bonsai. Go to Doupotang after 10 o'clock. Only then will you see a lot of tour groups. But half an hour is enough to walk around there.

It was a pity to miss the lower half of Tianxing Bridge. The water was big and the waterfall was full of momentum, but it also made it not as delicate as the promotional pictures. The yellow rapids became the Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River.

Huangguoshu Waterfall is the largest waterfall in China and Asia, and one of the most famous waterfalls in the world.

There are three independent scenic spots in Huangguoshu Scenic Area, Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area, Doupotang Waterfall Scenic Area and Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area. The three scenic spots are connected by guided bus. Huangguoshu is closer to Doupotang, while Tianxing Bridge is a little further away, 7 kilometers downstream of Huangguoshu Waterfall. Both the entrance ticket and the bus ticket are pass tickets, which cannot be purchased separately for any scenic spot. You can enter and exit freely by swiping your ID card after buying the ticket. People over 60 years old are free of admission, but they need to purchase a separate guided bus ticket.

It takes about 2-3 hours to go around Huangguoshu. The glass escalator of the waterfall is under maintenance, so you need to walk the whole way. The Doupotang is small and you can finish the tour in half an hour to an hour. The Tianxing Bridge scenic area is large and takes at least 3-4 hours. You can finish the whole tour in one day during the off-season without rushing.

The Huangguoshu Waterfall Ticket can be used for two days, but you cannot enter the scenic area repeatedly. If you plan to play in Huangguoshu for two days, you can take your time to visit it and visit the places you haven't visited the next day. (Originally, we planned to visit Doupotang on the morning of the second day, but because we went to the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area early in the morning, there were fewer tourists, so we went faster than expected and had a great time in one day.)

The order is up to you, but Tianxing Cave is usually placed last. If you have plenty of time in the afternoon and are not in a hurry to catch up, you can browse it slowly.

My personal opinion: Huangguoshu-Doupotang-Tianxing Bridge. Because the Water Curtain Cave in Huangguoshu is a one-way walk, you need to queue up when there are many people, which may take a long time. It doesn't matter if there are many people at the Doupotang Observation Deck, because the location of the waterfall is such that a single shot will not be affected by the number of people. If you need to take a photo with the waterfall, you can cross the bridge to the other side of the river. Generally, tour groups return by the same route, so there is basically no one on the other side of the river.

Although it is relatively easy to buy food and drinks in the scenic area, they are all in designated locations. There are also some mobile vendors carrying shoulder poles selling local snacks. The Huangguoshu Waterfall was visited early and no food was sold. There were many things in the commercial street outside the scenic area exit, but they were not open when we left. The Doupotang scenic area is small and there is no food inside. There is only one commercial area in the middle section of Tianxing Bridge, Gaolaozhuang. So it is better to bring some water and snacks with you, and buy what you want to eat when you see it.

When we went there, it was the dry season and there was not much water, but after all, it is the third largest waterfall in the world, so it is still worth seeing.

Huangguoshu Waterfall is composed of several places: Doupotang Waterfall, Tianxing Lake and other scenic spots. Huangguoshu Waterfall is not very high. You can go around the back of the waterfall after climbing up the mountain. This is what people often call the Water Curtain Cave. It is quite exciting.
