Then we went to a mountain, drove up, and took pictures of the buildings on the mountain.

I heard there is a huge Thousand-armed Guanyin statue here, so I came here to see it. The whole temple is filled with the smell of money. From the moment you enter the door, all kinds of people come up to you, using overt or covert methods to urge you to burn incense, worship Buddha, and tell fortunes. I avoided them and came to the statue of the Bodhisattva. I was surprised to find that the eyes of this Guanyin are looking straight ahead. This design, looking from the bottom up, looks like the Bodhisattva is rolling his eyes, which is weird!

One of the Eight Outer Temples in Chengde, there is a very large and majestic statue of Avalokitesvara inside. There is a Puyou Temple next to Puning Temple, but it has been burned down. Puning Temple is very large and the whole visit takes about 1-2 hours. After visiting Puning Temple, you can go to the Little Potala Palace.

I went to Chengde for a weekend trip in the winter of 2009. The first stop was Pujing Temple, also known as the Big Buddha Temple, which houses the tallest wooden Buddha in the world. You can’t take pictures inside, so I just took pictures outside.

By China-TravelNote users |

Apart from the Thousand-Handed Guanyin, there is nothing else to see in the scenic area. It depends on personal preference.

By Kawa Wong |

The locals call this the Big Buddha Temple. There is a Thousand-armed Guanyin inside, which is unique in the world. It is very shocking when you go in. In addition, I heard that this is the main temple for locals to worship. Many people come here to interpret the fortune. It is very effective here.

The most famous is the largest wooden Buddha statue in the country.

The solemn and majestic Buddha statue. There are various beautiful towers and buildings in Puning Temple, and it is very popular.

By Bai Xubo |

The biggest attraction is of course the world's largest wooden statue of Avalokitesvara with a thousand hands and eyes. In order to accommodate this huge statue, the main hall outside is also built very magnificently. There are four small pagodas of different colors on the four corners outside the main hall, which seem to symbolize the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind. Similar four-color pagodas can also be seen in several other temples in Chengde. Sometimes they are also arranged side by side with the white pagoda symbolizing "emptiness" to become five-color pagodas. As far as I can remember, I have been to pure Han Buddhist temples and Tibetan Buddhist temples before, but I have never seen such multi-colored pagodas in groups.

Puning Temple, commonly known as the Big Buddha Temple, is located on the north side of the Chengde Mountain Resort. It is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in northern my country. The temple was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It was built by Emperor Qianlong for the Mongolian princes who attended the meeting. It is a Han-Tibetan temple. The front half of the temple is Han-style, with the characteristics of traditional Han Buddhist temples; the back half is Tibetan-style, modeled after the Sangyuan Temple in Tibet, and the two different styles of architecture are integrated. The entire temple is magnificent. You can take bus No. 6 directly to it.

Puning Temple is a typical temple that combines Han and Tibetan styles. The entire temple has a rigorous layout, divided into two parts, front and back, with the main hall as the boundary. The front half is the traditional Han temple layout of the seven-hall layout (Galan means temple. The seven halls are generally based on the mountain gate hall, the Heavenly King Hall, and the main hall as the central axis, with a bell tower, a drum tower, and east and west side halls built symmetrically on the left and right). The back half is Tibetan style, a mandala built in the form of the Tibetan Samaya Temple. The Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara is enshrined in the main building, the Mahayana Pavilion.

The main buildings of the temple are all on the central axis, and the ancillary buildings are symmetrically arranged on both sides. The main building, the Mahavira Hall, is a double-layered hip-and-gable style, known as the "Nine Ridges and Ten Dragons" Hall, which houses the statues of the Three Buddhas and the Eighteen Arhats, surrounded by murals. The two main buildings in front and behind are built on a 1.4-meter-high stone Sumeru platform. The platform in front of the hall is surrounded by exquisitely carved stone railings. In the center of the steps is a stone sculpture art masterpiece "Cloud Dragon Stone Steps", and there are dragon heads called "Chi" at the four corners. There are colored paintings of "Golden Dragon and Seal" and "Six-Character Mantra and Seal" in the temple.

In a Buddhist holy place, you can draw lots and tell fortunes. The results are reliable to a certain extent, but! The interpreters inside are really deceptive. After reading your fortune, they don't give you an explanation or are unwilling to explain it to you. They just try their best to sell you Buddhist items just to make money. They have no piety to Buddha in their hearts. As a Buddhist holy place, people with distracting thoughts should be expelled!

By Suiyuan Old Crow |

There are still lamas in Puning Temple, which is different from other temples. You can pray, the scenery is average, the Guanyin statue is very large, but it is difficult to see from different angles.

By He Weiping |

I like the Thousand-armed Guanyin the most, it is really a masterpiece.

By document |

It is a national key cultural relic protection unit, with well-preserved buildings and a Han-dynasty architectural style. The wooden sculpture of Guanyin is very shocking and worth a serious visit.

By Meimei |

Puning Temple is actually the center of religious activities of the Outer Eight Temples. It has witnessed many historical scenes of ethnic harmony and cultural integration. When the Third and Fourth Zhangjia Living Buddhas came to Rehe, they would first go to Puning Temple to pay homage. In the 45th year of Qianlong's reign, the Sixth Panchen Lama came all the way from Tibet to congratulate Qianlong on his 70th birthday. He first stayed at Puning Temple and then went to live in Xumi Fushou Temple.

By Raul |

The overall structure and style are very similar to those of the Lama Temple in Beijing. The misty smoke and monks increase the solemnity of Buddhism. It is a place where you need to feel the atmosphere and appreciate the history.

The world's largest gold-painted wooden Buddha, a Buddhist holy place in the north

By Xiaoyue Qingjiang |

The Puning Temple Scenic Area, located on the banks of the Wulie River in the northeast of the Mountain Resort, consists of the Puning Temple and the Puyou Temple in the royal temple complex. The two temples were built in 1755 (the 20th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign) and 1760 (the 25th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign), respectively, with the meaning of bringing peace to the world and protecting all living beings.

Puning Temple houses the world's largest gold-painted wooden Buddha statue, the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara. Puyou Temple is a Buddhist school where lamas study Buddhist theories and texts. It is the largest Buddhist holy place in the north, with many monks and incense burning.

The Eight Outer Temples refer to the Pu Ren Temple, Pushan Temple (destroyed), Pu Le Temple, Anyuan Temple, Puning Temple, Xumifu Temple, Putuo Zongcheng Temple, and Shuxiang Temple, which are basically temples with Manchu-Tibetan style.

By Mysterious Ark |

I don’t know if it’s because it’s winter, but there are almost no people in the scenic area. It’s hard to see anyone, whether they are visiting or coming to burn incense and worship Buddha.

By Flower's Daughter |

Every two years or so, I would go to Puning Temple to burn incense. Puning Temple, also known as the Big Buddha Temple by the people of Chengde, exudes royal majesty everywhere. The architectural style that combines Han and Tibetan styles reflects the cultural differences of different ethnic groups. The yellow tiles, red walls and blue sky complement each other. Even with the most ordinary camera, you can take pictures that give the feeling of a blockbuster.

By Han nini |

I didn't have high expectations for Puning Temple, so I wouldn't have included it in my itinerary if I didn't have enough time. But after I went there, I unexpectedly liked it. After entering here, I felt like I found the purity of my heart. I recommend everyone to go and see it.

By Xi is a treasure |

This is the most popular place in the Outer Eight Temples. Don't buy incense, there will be three free incense sticks, just pray devoutly.

By The tolerant little red |

Mainly because of the incense there, otherwise I would have walked around more. Puning Street is very unique, with two imperial guards at the door. I recommend going to see the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Buddha there, it's so shocking!

When I was buying tickets at Puning Temple, I met a scumbag from Northeast China. He cut in line and was very confident. I only said one sentence to him. His Northeastern dialect only embarrassed the Northeastern people and also affected my mood for the whole morning. Puning Temple is a product of the combination of Tibetan and Han Buddhist cultures. It is full of characteristics and worth visiting.

Puning Temple is the only temple among the Outer Eight Temples that still has incense. It houses the world's largest wooden Buddha statue, which is made of five pieces of wood. The Lama Temple in Beijing houses a Buddha statue made of a single piece of wood. Photography is not allowed inside, so I had to remember the big wooden Buddha in my mind.

Puning Temple only sells a joint ticket for 80 yuan, including Puning Temple and Puyou Temple. The two temples are connected together, and Puyou Temple has been burned down by fire and is a ruin. Puning Temple is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in northern my country. Puning Temple is very large, and it takes about 2 hours to walk around and worship Buddha in the temple. You can worship Buddha and pray in various halls when you enter the temple. The most worthwhile thing to see in the temple is the Thousand-Handed Thousand-Eyed Guanyin in the Mahayana Pavilion in the middle of the backyard, which is the largest wooden Buddha statue in the world. In addition, there is Puyou Temple on the east side of the hall of Puning Temple. It is an affiliated temple of Puning Temple and is located in Puning Temple. The ticket is also included in the ticket of Puning Temple, and you can visit it on foot. At the same time, there is also Puning Temple Cultural Street, and the tour guide is generally 100, which can be listened to. There are also tickets purchased according to personal wishes in the temple. You can take bus No. 6 according to your own situation, or walk, and take a taxi for about 7 yuan!

Puning Temple, a Tibetan Buddhist temple, is called the Big Buddha Temple by the locals. It is very popular and many people come here to worship at every time of the year.

I studied in Chengde for three years and it will be three years since I graduated. I go back several times every year to visit friends and visit the school. Of course, I also want to go to the Big Buddha Temple. Although I am not a Buddhist, I also want to feel the sacredness of the temple and receive religious baptism. This makes me half a local.

Let's talk about transportation and tickets first. Take bus No. 6 or No. 26 and get off at the "Puning Temple" stop. I usually take bus No. 6, and the school is the starting point. Tourists can wait for the bus at the stop opposite the Summer Resort. I'm not sure about bus No. 26. Tickets are 80 in the peak season and 60 in the off-season. My family and I went there for the first time in September when school started. When we got the tickets and entered the gate, there was a staff member accompanying us and explaining the whole process. Later, I used the annual ticket to visit and never enjoyed this treatment.

The most recommended is the main Buddha statue of the Big Buddha Temple, the Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, the world's largest gold-painted wooden sculpture of the Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, which is stored in the Mahayana Pavilion. The overall statue is very exquisite, and the sense of majesty and solemnity is beyond words. Are you wondering how such a large Buddha statue was moved into the main hall? In fact, the Buddha statue came first, and the Mahayana Pavilion was built later. My second grandfather lived near the Big Buddha Temple when he was a child. I heard him say that four seven or eight-year-old children could fit on one of Guanyin's palms. Of course, it is difficult to get close to it now.

I always like to go there in the afternoon, sit on the bench at the back and bask in the sun, and feel that this is the most beautiful thing in the world.

By the way, there are incense sellers inside, but I haven't bought any. They should be more expensive than those sold everywhere outside. There is a long alley leading to the exit, with small handicrafts sold on both sides. If you like them and they are not expensive, you can take some as small gifts. If they are too expensive and it is difficult to tell whether the materials are real or fake, don't easily spend money on them.

Puning Temple is one of the Eight Outer Temples in Chengde. It is located north of the Mountain Resort and is one of the most worth visiting temples among the Eight Outer Temples. The ticket for Puning Temple is 80 yuan, and the combined ticket with the nearby Puyou Temple is a bit expensive, but there are many attractions. The biggest highlight is the Mahayana Pavilion behind the Main Hall. The tall Thousand-Handed Avalokitesvara statue inside is enough to shock people's eyes. It's a pity that you are not allowed to take pictures. After all, Buddhist places still have to be exquisite. Although there are pictures of the Thousand-Handed Avalokitesvara on the Internet, you have to see it in person to feel the shock. As the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in the north, even non-Buddhists will gain something when they come here. The Puyou Temple next to Puning Temple was destroyed by lightning and fire in the last century. Just take a look.

By There is wind in the valley |

Puning Temple is the only temple in Chengde where monks live. The temple is very popular, so naturally there are people who persuade tourists to burn incense and the monks clean the oil lamps meticulously. What impressed me about Pule Temple was the monks doing their daily affairs. There seemed to be differences among the monks, some were idle and some were busy.

By Two trees and one forest |

The bus goes to Puning Temple, and a taxi from Chengde Villa costs about 10 yuan. Puning Temple is a place for Buddhist activities, with many monks and incense. It is a world cultural heritage designated by UNESCO and a 4A scenic spot.

By Paddles singing in the evening |

Very typical Tibetan Buddhism...grand and solemn

By Monicaca |

The 80 yuan ticket is too expensive. People over 70 years old are free. Graduate students don't need student ID cards. It is said that this place is very effective. Many people come here to worship Buddha and burn incense. There are free incense in the temple. You are not allowed to bring in your own incense. The Thousand-armed Guanyin statue in the main hall is very shocking. The architectural style of the whole scenic area is a bit Tibetan. Maybe it is because of Tibetan Buddhism.

By Song Jinqiang |

The ticket is not expensive, another shape of the temple

By ADAN CHEN |

The characteristics of Chengde temples are that they are a combination of Han and Tibetan styles. The front is usually a Han-style temple, and the back is a Tibetan-style temple. The treasure of Puning Temple is a lacquered wooden Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Guanyin, which is housed here.

By Blue on Blue |

It feels like the inside of the hall is very dark, with no lights on, only the doors and windows providing light. The statue of the Buddha and the master make it even more mysterious, perhaps from the perspective of cultural relic protection.

Photography is not allowed inside the hall

By jade_jia |

Don't be fooled by its appearance, this is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in northern China. The prayer wheel next to the main hall clearly tells us its identity. The Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara of Puning Temple is enshrined in this main hall. Unfortunately, it was under maintenance when I went there. Although you can still see the Buddha, it's a pity that the magnificent hall is gone...

By Zhu Geliang Xing is glad to meet you |

The bus that goes directly to the Puning Temple scenic area is No. 6, and the bus stop is called "Puning Temple". Whether you are at the bus station or the railway station, just find a way to take Bus No. 6. Basically, all bus routes in Chengde city have stops where you can transfer to Bus No. 6.

Tickets: Peak season (April 1st to October 31st): 80.00 yuan (including Puyou Temple) Off-season (November 1st to March 31st): 60.00 yuan (including Puyou Temple)

After passing through the mountain gate, you will enter this royal temple. The architectural style of Puning Temple is a very distinctive "combination of Han and Tibetan" architectural structure.

My first feeling after visiting Puning Temple is that there is so much architectural art and knowledge of Buddhism, Dharma and Sangha to learn. This great temple that witnesses the unification of the country is really worth our visit and worship.

If you don't bring a tour guide, you have to go to the tourist center to tell the lot yourself. Of course, it costs 10 yuan to draw the lot, and the lot-telling service also costs money.

As one of the Eight Outer Temples of Chengde, Puning Temple is most famous for the world's largest wooden Buddha statue - the Thousand-Armed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin Bodhisattva. I have visited four such large Buddhas or Bodhisattvas in the temples, namely, the Lama Temple in Beijing, the Xinglong Temple in Zhengding, the Dule Temple in Jixian, and the Puning Temple here. Each one of them shocked me so much that I don't want to miss it.

Puning Temple is indeed the most popular place in Chengde. As soon as I got off the bus, countless aunts surrounded me to sell incense. I am not a Buddhist, so I must ignore them. After entering the door, I hurriedly passed the stele pavilion and the main hall and came directly to the Mahayana Pavilion. First, I carefully looked at the appearance of the Mahayana Pavilion, which felt like it was towering into the clouds. Then I walked into the door and read the introduction absent-mindedly. From beginning to end, I didn't look inside the door, just because I was afraid of seeing the real appearance in advance and reducing the shock.

By Black and white bears should just eat green leafy vegetables |

In fact, Puning Temple is also connected to Puyou Temple, which is included in the ticket. The whole visit takes about an hour and a half. For a detailed introduction to Puning Temple, please search Baidu. The parking fee for all scenic spots in Chengde is 20 yuan with no time limit. I parked in a private parking space outside the parking lot and bargained for 15 yuan.

By A hexagram to ask about the east and west |

The Thousand-armed Guanyin in Puning Temple is really amazing. It is made entirely of wood. Although it is not a whole piece of wood, nor is it one type of wood, it is still amazing. I personally think it is worth seeing. Puning Temple is the only temple in Chengde that burns incense. If you believe in Buddhism, you can try it.

The gate of Puning Temple. Well, after visiting some places, we don’t have much feeling about it. Maybe it’s because we can’t understand Tibetan.

It seemed that there were many incense burners in Puning Temple, as if a religious ceremony was just taking place. We, the "ignorant onlookers", were just watching, but as we watched the tour guide leading the tour group to draw lots and pay the money without any choice in the compensation pad next to us, we were glad that we were traveling independently.

The golden nanmu Buddha is said to be a record-breaking one, and many people worship it. If you have not been to Tibet, you can take a look at the overall building.

It has a long history, many historical relics and stories, and the incense is really strong! The Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Guanyin statue! It is inside the building, very tall and shocking, I didn't dare to take a photo

The incense is strong, the architecture is very distinctive, and the diverse Buddhist fusion is well worth a visit!

There are lamas in Puning Temple. If you go early in the morning, you can see them doing morning prayers. Compared with the Little Potala, Puning Temple is quite good. There is no construction and no peeling of wall paint. It is obviously like a child loved by its mother. However, there are very few tourists. I only met one tour group in the afternoon.

Puning Temple is the largest Buddhist venue in the north. It was the first temple built during the Qianlong period and is a temple that perfectly combines Han and Tibetan architectural styles.

(Ticket price: 80 yuan/person)

There are many tourists here, and the incense is very popular.

The main building in the center, the Mahayana Pavilion, is magnificent! Inside is the world's largest wooden statue, the Thousand-armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (photographs are not allowed), which is more than 20 meters high and weighs about 110 tons.

The people of Chengde call Puning Temple the Big Buddha Temple because there is a very tall and large Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Buddha inside. The ticket is 80 yuan (peak season) and you can get there by taking bus No. 6. Many people come here to worship the Buddha and the incense is very popular.

Puning Temple, the front half is in the architectural style of Han Buddhist temples, and the back half is in the architectural style of Tibetan Buddhist temples.

Puning Temple is the largest Buddhist activity site in the north, the largest Tibetan Buddhist activity site, and is very popular. The main Buddha statue of Puning Temple is Avalokitesvara, which is 27.21 meters tall and is the largest wooden Buddha statue in the world. It has been included in the Guinness World Records. I really have to pay my respects to it. After leaving Puning Temple, I originally planned to visit the Little Potala Palace, but was told that ticket sales had stopped and I could only watch from a distance.

It is one of the Outer Eight Temples. You can take a look around and buy a combined ticket for Bangchui Mountain and the Little Potala Palace.

It takes about 5 minutes by taxi from Bangchui Mountain. The main purpose of coming here is to burn incense, but it is also nice to see the scenery from a high place~~~

Warm reminder, we only found out when we arrived at Puning Temple that we can buy a combined ticket here, which is much cheaper. It usually includes more than 3 attractions, basically several attractions in the Outer Eight Temples, such as the Little Potala Palace + Bangchui Mountain + Puning Temple. I remember it was about 210. If you buy it separately, each ticket costs about 80~~~

This kind of attraction is really not interesting to us girls who have no religious beliefs. Maybe we think all temples are the same, with two generals, "good weather", a group of big Buddhas and similar halls. The weather was so hot that we walked around and stopped, and everyone said that they would never visit temples on their next trip.
