The Songhua River Railway Bridge is a bridge in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China, with important historical and cultural significance. The Songhua River Railway Bridge, also known as the Binzhou Line Songhua River Railway Bridge, is the earliest railway bridge on the Songhua River. Construction began in 1900 and was put into use in 1901. The bridge connects Daoli District and Daowai District of Harbin, and has witnessed the historical process of Harbin's development from a small fishing village to a cultural and economic center in the Far East. The bridge is 1,027.2 meters long and 7.2 meters wide, with a total of 19 bridge spans. It adopts a stone pier steel bar structure and is the first railway bridge over a kilometer along the China-Eastern Railway.

The free bridge, the former railway bridge is now a sightseeing bridge. There is a section of the bridge that is made of glass, but the glass is quite stained and one piece is broken.
You can walk to the other side of the river, but it’s too far, so you give up.
There are bridgeheads on both sides of the bridge, which are not open to the public.

I love to see bridges. I came here to see bridges.
I walked under the bridge and found that there were quite a lot of people

I don’t think I’ve been there before, but after my friend went there and took some photos, I didn’t ask him what he thought!

The Songhua River Railway Bridge is still coming, the ancestor of the Manchurian Railway

It's worth going. It would also be nice to walk on the bridge.

You can go to the railway bridge at 3:30 in the afternoon, and you can almost catch the sunset. It is very beautiful.

A bridge with a long history. Now it has become a popular check-in spot.

A bridge left behind shows us a piece of history

Also known as the Binzhou Railway Harbin Songhua River Bridge, it is located east of Stalin Park on the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, at the 2741 km mark of the Binzhou Railway. It serves as the boundary bridge between Daoli and Daowai districts in Harbin.

Construction of the Harbin Songhua River Railway Bridge began in May 1900 and opened in October 1901. It was the first bridge on the Western Line (Binzhou Line) of the Chinese Eastern Railway and the largest single-track railway bridge along the route, earning it the nickname "The First Songhua River Bridge." The bridge was constructed under the personal supervision of Russian bridge expert and Chief Bridge Engineer of the Chinese Eastern Railway Engineering Bureau, Lendovsky, and by engineer Alexeyov. The bridge is 949.185 meters long, and its piers are constructed of granite, making it exceptionally strong. In July 1962, the Northeast Railway Engineering Bureau designed and implemented a reinforcement project for the bridge. The project involved replacing all eight 76.8-meter steel trusses, adding sidewalks on both sides, reinforcing 11 33.5-meter steel trusses, removing pier 17, and reinforcing pier 9 with concrete.

Harbin's earliest railway bridge is full of the city's historical sense

Snow Town is very beautiful and the children had a lot of fun

When talking about Harbin, we can’t leave out the old river bridge on the Songhua River. We walked from the embankment to the bridge. The morning sunlight made our figures look particularly slender. High-speed trains passed over the river bridge from time to time, and various ice and snow entertainment projects slid under the bridge across the Songhua River.

This railway bridge is also a place I like very much. I walked on it three times in five days. It has now become a sightseeing bridge, a bridge that witnesses history. Next to it is the newly built high-speed railway grid.

The Songhua River Railway Bridge can be seen at the Flood Control Victory Monument. The bridge looked like this in 2009.

The profound history and the ups and downs of a century carry the memories of so many people!

The Binjiang Bridge is the Harbin Binbei Songhua River dual-use bridge, also known as the Dongjiang Bridge. It was built by the Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in 1933. It is the first dual-use highway and railway bridge in China.

Across the Songhua River, you can take a cable car to the other side!

The Songhua River is really beautiful
This is the most beautiful check-in spot in my trip to Harbin.

The old bridge and the new high-speed rail line are juxtaposed, which is quite spectacular.

A bridge across the Songhua River in Harbin is one of the beautiful scenery on the Songhua River

The longest bridge on the Middle East Railway, built after Tsarist Russia opened my country's door, was completed and opened to traffic in 1901 and ceased to be used in 2014. Now, a high-speed railway viaduct that was recently opened to traffic lies just to the east of the bridge. One is the sword of the old era, and the other is the red flag of the new era, waving through a century of vicissitudes.

Standing on the railway bridge, I gazed at the scenery on both sides of the Songhua River. The river, calm and still after the rain, reflected the buildings on both sides of the riverbank, creating an elegant and tranquil scene, vast and distant. In the evening after the rain, the bridge became increasingly crowded with pedestrians, and occasionally electric bikes passed by. The glass plank road beneath my feet offered a glimpse of the original railway, bearing witness to a century of history. Suddenly, a rumbling sound reached my ears. It was a train speeding across the new bridge nearby, instantly catching my eye. The alternation of old and new—the city is truly transforming at a rapid pace!
Holding my mother's hand, I ran across the railway bridge, with high-speed trains speeding by next to me and historical relics from a century ago under my feet. The future is full of hope for me! This feeling is really great!
When you stand on the Old River Bridge and look at the new bridge next to it and the surging river, you will find that time has changed, and a century is just a moment!

It is so beautiful, beyond my expectation. In the summer, there are many artists and bands performing, and there are also people throwing iron flowers on the riverside. It is particularly beautiful. The lights of the bridge reflected in the river are particularly charming. In short, it is worth recommending. You must go to the bridge to experience it.

Walking on the Songhua River
Stay in the middle of the ice for a while
This scene seems familiar
Standing between the two bridges
It's like a time tunnel

There's a small section of glass walkway on the bridge. If you have long black hair and a long floral dress, you can stand on it and feel the wind blowing on you, which is really cool.

I went there at night. It's a very ordinary bridge, nothing special. There were very few people there when I went, so I turned back before I got halfway. There is a brief history guide at the bridge head.

There is a railway track on the bridge, which is of historical significance.

Extreme Challenge was filmed here. It's great to stand on the bridge and watch the scenery.

I went there in winter. The river was frozen and there were people playing on the ice. It was fun. I drove a snowmobile to drift and did a slide.

It used to be a railway station, but now it has been built into the Middle East Railway Park, which is worth a visit. It is a good place to overlook the Songhua River.

The railway bridge at night is unique. There are people singing and dancing around. It is beautiful to walk along the road and watch the night view.

The night view is beautiful. It is near the Songhua River Flood Control Memorial Tower. It is very cool to walk around in the summer.

People who are interested in the development history of Northeast China, especially Harbin, can go and have a look.

Although not as famous as the Waibaidu Bridge, it is really pleasant to walk along the river at night. I like and miss the life in Harbin.

The former railway bridge is now a place for sightseeing

The railway bridge lights up around 7:30 pm every day. The bridge is free to pass. You can stroll along the river and occasionally go night fishing. The scenery is pretty good. It can help digest food after a meal. It is also worth visiting for foreign friends to take pictures.

The Songhua River Railway Bridge is Harbin's first cross-river bridge. It was nearly dusk when we arrived, the setting sun bathing the river in its afterglow. Several couples were taking photos on the bridge. The bride, wearing a strapless wedding dress, wore a beaming smile despite the cold breeze. After they left, I ran to their photo booth and struck a few poses myself, but I didn't quite get the "blockbuster" look I'd hoped for.
It is also worth mentioning that there is a glass plank road on the bridge, through which you can see the railway tracks below and the river surface below.

The Middle East Railway Bridge has a history of a hundred years and is now well preserved.

The Harbin Songhua River Railway Bridge, also known as the Binzhou Railway Harbin Songhua River Bridge (formerly the First Songhua River Bridge on the Middle East Railway), is the earliest railway bridge over the Songhua River and Harbin's first cross-river bridge. Located east of Stalin Park on the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin, at kilometer 2741 of the Binzhou Railway, it serves as the boundary between Harbin's Daoli and Daowai districts.

There are two bridges across the Songhua River: one new, one old, one black, and one white. The old black bridge, built during the Guangxu reign of the Russian Tsar and abandoned for many years, has been renovated and transformed into a tourist attraction, providing direct access to the north bank of the Songhua River. The bridge features a glass deck and is open to the public free of charge.

It's nice to stand on the bridge and watch the scenery. There are many people coming here.

In 1896, Tsarist Russia secured the right to build the Chinese Eastern Railway in my country through the Sino-Russian Secret Treaty. Surveying, designing, and building the Songhua River Railway Bridge began in 1898. Construction officially began on May 16, 1900, was fully completed on August 22, 1901, and was put into use on October 2 of the same year.
The bridge is a reinforced concrete structure with stone piers. It is 1,050.87 meters long, 7.2 meters wide, and has 19 spans. A single track runs along the bridge deck. Due to poor steel quality, cracks began to appear on the bridge in 1941. Consequently, the railway authorities at the time restricted the use of two locomotives and limited the speed of vehicles crossing the bridge to 30 kilometers per hour.
Completed in 1901, the Binzhou Railway Bridge, also known as the Harbin Middle East Railway Bridge, is the oldest railway bridge over the Songhua River and Harbin's first cross-river bridge. It has served Harbin for 113 years. The Binzhou Railway Bridge ceased operations in 2014, while the adjacent Songhua River Bridge on the Harbin-Qiqihar Passenger Dedicated Line is about to open. The bridge will be preserved intact as an immovable cultural relic and become a tourist attraction in the Ice City.

Located on the east side of Stalin Park on the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, at the 2741km mark of the Binzhou Railway, it serves as the dividing bridge between Daoli and Daowai districts in Harbin.

A spectacular iron bridge with trains in the middle, pedestrians on both sides, and boats under the bridge

Well, the night view of the bridge pier is still worth a visit for photography enthusiasts. It is quite cold on the river, so wear more clothes.

The Binjiang Railway Bridge is no longer open to traffic, but it's been rebuilt to allow tourists to cross the river and explore the area. It has a lot of historical charm. It would be much better if there were fewer billboards and more refined details. There's a railway park under the bridge. The locomotives aren't vintage, and the green carriages are the latest model. There's no trace of history, and there's not even a railway or track underneath the carriages. It's so unrefined.

I actually didn't even know this attraction existed at first, let alone plan to visit. But as I emerged from the frozen surface of the Songhua River and walked along the riverside path toward Laodaowai (Baidu Maps said it wasn't far, so I planned to go for a walk), I stumbled upon these two parallel bridges. I also spotted a sculpture of an abandoned train station and the scenic green train under the bridges. Fate is truly a magical thing. These spots are perfect for photos and were practically deserted. Unfortunately, our photography skills are limited, so they probably look quite ordinary. (I highly recommend this place, especially for those who enjoy artistic and fresh styles.)
Standing on the bridge, gazing at the Songhua River below and the skyscrapers in the distance, watching the setting sun and feeling the train whizz by, even the tomboyish in me is awakened. This kind of beauty is the grandeur and understated beauty of history, yet it retains a calm and classic quality that remains unchanged through the passage of time.

Because I bought a house in Jiangbei, I travel back and forth between the city and Jiangbei every day in the summer. The congestion and disorder on the railway bridge every day really make me want to curse. After many years, I still can't change my impression of the Songhua River Railway Bridge.

The Harbin Flood Control Victory Memorial Tower is located on the picturesque south bank of the Songhua River in Harbin's Daoli District, at the terminus of Central Avenue. Built in 1958 to commemorate the Harbin people's victory over the devastating flood of 1957, it stands as a symbol of this heroic city.
Next to it is Stalin Park. At this moment, by the river, I felt the real biting cold wind. My eyelashes felt frozen when I exhaled. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture as a souvenir.

It is known as a railway relic. You may want to take a walk and feel the winter chill.

There is no train here now, it is very unique

The Flood Control Memorial Tower is located behind the Songhua River, and to the east of the Songhua River is the Songhua River Railway Bridge, which is known as the Old River Bridge by locals. This area is collectively known as Stalin Park.
When the Songhua River freezes over in winter, there will be various ice activities that are worth participating in.
The railway bridge is now open and you can walk to Jiangbei from here. The train will pass through the new bridge next to it, which is very interesting.

I love this place so much. It seems like an abandoned tourist attraction and few people come here to take photos, but it is really photogenic.

It is no longer accessible due to ongoing construction! The Old River Bridge carries the memories of the older generation of Harbin residents. This century-old bridge, as they call it, has accompanied them from childhood to old age!

There are two railway bridges, one of which is no longer used by trains, but pedestrians can still cross it. It's a nice walk to the center of the Songhua River to enjoy the scenery. Many people have left messages on the bridge.

Harbin's first cross-river bridge, the Songhua River Binzhou Railway Bridge, now boasts a 115-year history. The "Old River Bridge," officially retired in 2016 and no longer served as a railway bridge. It has now been preserved as a permanent attraction, transformed into a pedestrian bridge and the city's first cross-river park. A 20-25-minute walk takes you to the other side of the Songhua River. The bridge's renovation has been remarkably successful, and in the summer, it's a great place to escape the heat, enjoy the scenery, and exercise. Interested individuals are encouraged to visit and experience it for themselves.

The Songhua River Railway Bridge. The one on the left is the abandoned old railway bridge, which is now open to pedestrians, and the one on the right is the new railway bridge.

The scene was spectacular. It was quite cold when I went there. The night view was beautiful.

I saw the railway bridge over the Songhua River from a distance. It was quite magnificent, but nothing special.

There were many people sitting on the bank of the Songhua River. The bridge had not been built yet.

jThe night view is very beautiful at night, and the night view of the Songhua River is still very beautiful.

Walking on both sides of the bridge, traveling through time and space, from prosperity to desolation, from the present to looking back, at the other end of the bridge, there is this surprise, he witnessed the past of the bridge, and will also witness the future of the bridge

The iron bridge on one side of the Songjiang River has been abandoned, and the train has been using another bridge. The iron bridge on this side has become a place for tourists from other places to take photos. From time to time, people walk over from the other side and stand on the bridge. The wind is very strong. Since the Songhua River is frozen, you can't feel the momentum of the surging river rushing by. If you have time in the summer, come to Harbin to see the Songhua River again.

The Songhua River in winter is definitely a large ice amusement park, with snow rings, large slides, dog sleds... It's definitely an eye-opener for a pseudo-northerner!

With the pressure of transportation, the old river bridge will gradually become a tourist attraction. The new bridge that replaced it has been built across the river but has not yet been opened to traffic.

It's cold on the river, but the scenery is beautiful. Walking on the soft snow along the way, you can reach the bottom of the railway bridge. Just like when I was a child, I look forward to the train passing by.

I think this is the best place to watch the sunset over the Songhua River in Harbin. Watching the sunset from the railway bridge around 4 pm in winter gives you a panoramic view of the scenery on both sides of the Songhua River. There are relatively few tourists, and the narrow walkway on the railway bridge occasionally has people passing by. The river surface is frozen beneath your feet, but in the summer, it should be turquoise.

The Harbin Songhua River Railway Bridge, also known as the Binzhou Railway Harbin Songhua River Bridge, is located east of Stalin Park on the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, at kilometer 2741 of the Binzhou Railway. It serves as the boundary bridge between Harbin's Daoli and Daowai districts.

The Harbin Songhua River Railway Bridge, located east of Stalin Park on the banks of the Songhua River, serves as the boundary between Harbin's Daoli and Daowai districts. This bridge is believed to be Harbin's oldest cross-river bridge. Previously, access to Jiangbei was either by boat or by walking across the railway bridge. A pedestrian walkway ran alongside the train tracks, and many years ago, I used to walk across it. It took about half an hour to get from south to north. However, with the city's development and the construction of newer bridges like the Songhua River Bridge and Songpu Bridge, few people use this route to Jiangbei anymore. The railway bridge is also aging, and the government is planning a new one right next to it. Perhaps in a few years, this place will no longer exist.

It spans the Songhua River, very majestic and spectacular, with trains passing by from time to time.

We went in January, and the Songhua River was already frozen solid, making it easy to walk across. When we first walked from behind the hotel, we saw nothing but a vast expanse of white, covered in snow. At first, we didn't realize it was the Songhua River. Then we saw people walking across it, from one end to the other. Even more amazing was the numerous car tracks along the river. Once we reached it, we realized the ice was solid, making it easy for people and cars to cross. We crossed the Songhua River Railway Bridge and continued on to Stalin Park.

The railway bridge, which served as the Binzhou Line (Bin refers to Harbin, and Zhou refers to Manchuria), is no longer in use, having been replaced by a nearby concrete bridge. Harbin is also divided into Daoli and Daowai Districts by the railway bridge. Daowai District was once home to Chinese residents (Jingyu Street belonged to it), while Daoli District, home to foreigners (Central Avenue), was also the most prosperous area.
Harbin's Binzhou Line Old Railway Bridge, built in 1898 and in continuous operation until its closure in 2014, has witnessed the city's development and served as a crucial link in the former Middle East Railway. It has now become a popular tourist attraction in Harbin. Located very close to Central Avenue, it offers stunning views both day and night, making it highly recommended.
