Erqi Square

Erqi Square is located in the central commercial area of Zhengzhou City, surrounded by department stores. Erqi Memorial Tower is one of the landmark buildings of the city and a must-see for domestic and foreign tourists.
The Erqi Memorial Tower is located in the center of Erqi Square. It was built to commemorate the strike of Beijing-Hankou Railway workers on February 7, 1923. It is a reinforced concrete structure, 63 meters high, with a total of 14 floors, including 3 floors on the base and 11 floors on the tower body. The top corners of each floor are antique-style overhanging eaves, and the roof is covered with green glazed tiles. There is a bell tower on the top of the tower, with six large bells with a diameter of 2.7 meters. The music "The East is Red" is played every hour. The bell sounds melodiously and pleasantly, stretching for several kilometers. The tower plane is two pentagons connected from east to west. From the east-west direction, it is a single tower, and from the north-south direction, it is a twin tower. There is a spiral staircase on one side of the tower and an exhibition room on the other side. Visitors can climb to the top of the tower and overlook the city. After nightfall, a variety of colored lights shine inside and outside, making the twin towers more colorful.

I learned about the February 7th Railway Strike in my middle school textbooks, but it was so long ago that I am a little unfamiliar with this period of history. This time I came to the February 7th Memorial Hall and regained my memory of this period of history. I was still moved by the firm belief and resistance spirit of the railway workers under the leadership of communism at that time.

After leaving the memorial hall, we came to the Erqi Memorial Hall. The design of the memorial hall is very special. From one side, it looks like two towers, and from the other side, it looks like one tower. We wanted to go in and visit, but when we arrived here, there was already a long queue at the door. Maybe it was because I had been away from the crowd for too long, I really didn't want to squeeze into the crowd to queue, so Xiao and I decided to just take pictures and check in at the square, and not go in.

Erqi Square is one of the city centers of Zhengzhou, so it is always crowded no matter day or night. The roads here are also very crowded. So if you encounter rush hour, it is faster to take the subway than to take a taxi, because the taxi is likely to encounter traffic jams, which will delay a large part of the journey. The transportation here is also very developed, and there is a subway entrance and exit next to the square. Of course, there are a lot of people every day. Sometimes there are even flow restrictions. Maybe it’s because it’s the end of the year, everyone is on vacation and out to play. So I really encountered the subway flow restriction issue

It should be a commercial center. There are many shopping malls, but not many businesses. Maybe everyone has gone home for the New Year, so it is a bit deserted.

The pedestrian streets in Zhengzhou are similar to those in other parts of the country. They are average.

The round trip taxi cost 60 yuan, just to see the Erqi Pagoda and check in.

It is meaningful and beautiful, but now there are many high-rise buildings, so it should not be considered a tourist attraction. But it is still worth a visit. Anyway, it is very close to the subway entrance.

The building is very distinctive and commemorative. The area around the square is very prosperous, full of shopping centers and malls. It is a must-visit place in Zhengzhou.

From Dehua Street, it looks like a building.

Zhengzhou is a dirty and messy city. I really don't like it. The only thing is the Henan Museum, which is the only place worth stopping.

The Erqi Memorial Tower is located in the Erqi Square, a bustling commercial area in the center of Zhengzhou, surrounded by department stores. There is a saying that "If you haven't been to the Erqi Tower, you haven't been to Zhengzhou", so it is located in the center of the square and is a landmark building of the city. It is a must-see for domestic and foreign tourists.

The top corners of each floor are antique-style overhanging eaves and covered with green glazed tiles. There is a clock tower on the top of the tower, which plays the song "The East is Red" every hour. It is a unique antique twin tower in my country. There is a spiral staircase on one side of the tower and an exhibition room on the other side. Visitors can climb to the top of the tower and overlook the city. The Erqi Memorial Tower is a landmark building for Zhengzhou and one of the places you have to go. In addition, for Zhengzhou now, it is relatively convenient to take the subway line 1, unlike the crowded buses in the past, which are slow and hot. So when you arrive in Zhengzhou, you can still take the subway to the Erqi Memorial Tower if you have time. The Erqi Memorial Tower is to commemorate the workers' movement and has many historical marks. People enter the tower through the verification of their ID cards. The tower is 14 stories high and there is an elevator in the tower, but it is generally not open. People who are generally physically weak should consider it carefully, because in the tower, except for the scenery at the top of the tower and then receiving education on the workers' movement, there is no need to go in. Just look at it from the outside. The Erqi Memorial Tower is located in the center of the Erqi business circle. There are many large supermarkets and pedestrian streets nearby. If you want to eat, drink and have fun, you can consider it here. The price is moderate. There are basically some entertainment places nearby. Of course, since it is the center of Zhengzhou, there are still many people at the Erqi Memorial Tower. Zhengzhou has many people, and it is not just talk. You can come and try the characteristic humanities of Henan. Of course, when you appreciate the Erqi Square and the cultural customs of Henan, you must be careful. There are many pickpockets in crowded places, so it is best to put it in a lady's bag, just in case. There are still many policemen in Erqi Square. There is no need to worry about safety. It's just that the wallet, mobile phone, etc. are gone, and it feels like I can't find them back. Don't let this disturb your good mood, be careful and make the ship last forever~ Let me introduce it again. For the Erqi Memorial Tower, it is best to go there at night. The night view is very beautiful, and all kinds of red lights are open. It is best to stay near the Erqi Memorial Tower, because the housing prices near the Erqi Memorial Tower are relatively expensive, and the houses are also relatively old. So it is better to change a place to live, the cost performance will be higher. There is a subway here at the Erqi Memorial Tower, and you can take the subway to Shanghai, or the University Town to stay. The hotel is not only new, but also cheap, and the cost performance is very high. If you want to sleep in Erqi Square, it is really difficult to find breakfast here. Generally, the hotels here do not provide breakfast, so it is better not to live here.

This tower looks ordinary during the day, but it is very beautiful at night. It is especially beautiful under the light. So it is recommended to come to Erqi Square at night. At night, there are all kinds of people coming to play. It is very lively. There are various shopping malls and restaurants around Erqi Square. You can take a stroll in Erqi Square after dinner.

When I went to Zhengzhou, I went to visit Erqi Square specifically. The Erqi Memorial Tower is roughly the same as the Liberation Monument in Chongqing. I feel like if you don't go to Erqi Square when you go to Zhengzhou, it would be like you haven't been to Zhengzhou.

By Floating Years |

There is a square in front of the Erqi Tower. There are a lot of cars and people on the square. It is very close to the train station.

A destination with Central Plains characteristics worth visiting

The night view of the entire square is quite good, especially since there are many viaducts built around it, so you can take pictures of the entire square from a high vantage point.

Erqi Square is the so-called shopping center, which is next to Erqi Tower. When I went there, many places were under construction and the environment was really bad. The whole shopping center felt very messy. I don’t have a good impression of it.

Located in the central commercial area of Zhengzhou City, surrounded by shops, it is a concentrated place for enjoying Zhengzhou street scenes, cultural leisure, shopping and dining. The Erqi Memorial Tower is one of the landmark buildings in this city and a must-see for domestic and foreign tourists. When we went there, there were many construction baffles and a large amount of building materials on the square. It was still raining, but there were no shortage of vehicles and pedestrians in and around the square. The roadside parking spaces were charged, which fully demonstrated the prosperity of this landmark.
