Henan Museum was founded in 1927. It has a rich collection and is one of the most worth-visiting museums in China.
It is a display area of Henan’s 5,000-year history and the best window to understand Henan. It houses more than 140,000 cultural relics.
The museum has eight exhibition halls arranged in chronological order, including the Lotus and Crane Square Pot from the Pre-Qin period, each of which is a national treasure not to be missed.
From Tuesday to Sunday, there will be performances of ancient Chinese music in the museum. The performances are at 11:00 and 16:00 respectively, and each performance lasts about 20 minutes.

There are only one elephant Zhongyuan exhibition hall and one calligraphy and painting exhibition hall. The main hall has been under construction for several years and I don't know when it will be open. There were a lot of people queuing during the National Day holiday. You can get free tickets by swiping your ID card.
Don’t underestimate this Elephant Central Plains Exhibition Hall. Although it is small, it still contains many treasures.
The modern and contemporary calligraphy and painting exhibition was not very interesting. I just went in and took a look around and then left.
I came here because the main hall was under renovation and only the secondary hall was open, so the collections were not fully displayed. But this is Henan, there are so many good things. The pictures show the seven good things I found after a day and a half of stay, reading the introduction and using the guide others found (bone flute, flower petals, iron sword, a little green in the snow, big camel, sunny sky after rain, and Chinese cabbage). I like the first one, the Jiahu bone flute, the most, but it's a pity that I can't take it out, ah ah ah.
Since the Henan Provincial Museum is still under repair, the main hall is not accessible. In addition, a treasure exhibition hall was opened in a hall on the side, where the three treasures of the museum that appeared in "National Treasure": Jiahu bone flute, Fuhao owl urn and cloud pattern bronze ban can be seen at a glance~ (unfortunately, another treasure of the museum - Lotus Crane Square Pot was not found)
Henan Museum was founded in 1927 and is one of the earliest museums in my country. Located in the middle section of Nongye Road, Zhengzhou City, the museum covers an area of 126 acres and a building area of 55,000 square meters. In 2009, it was selected as one of the first batch of national museums jointly built by the central government and local governments.
Henan Museum currently has more than 170,000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics in its collection, with prehistoric relics, Shang and Zhou bronzes, ceramics from various dynasties, jades and stone carvings being the most distinctive. The number of fine cultural relics is large, the types are complete, the quality is high and the value is great. It is a treasure house of culture and art that witnesses the development of Chinese civilization and displays the development of Chinese history.
Currently, the museum has the basic exhibition "The Great China Choosing the Central Plains to Build its Capital" and the special exhibitions "Henan in the Ming and Qing Dynasties", "Ancient Stone Carving Art Exhibition in the Central Plains", "Danxi Jijin - Bronze Art of the Chu State in the Central Plains", "Skillful Craftsmanship - Treasures from the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the Museum", "Outstanding Central Plains - Henan Red Culture Exhibition" and "National Treasure Special Exhibition". There are also "Social Education Experience Hall" and "Chinese Ancient Music Hall" to match the exhibition.
Here is a little tip. After entering the museum gate, you can see several places for renting audio guides. It is recommended to pay more attention to it. There is an automatic rental cabinet for audio guides where you can rent double headphones, so renting one audio guide is completely enough for two people.
I looked up various guides before coming here and was prepared to walk a lot, but I was still shocked by the number of treasures here. I felt very tired after visiting about five or six museums.
Henan Museum requires advance reservations and ID card swiping to enter. Elderly people are exempt from reservations. First go to the third and fourth floors to see the key cultural relics. The disadvantage is that cultural and creative products are expensive.
The history of Henan is half of the history of China, so the most worthwhile place to visit in Zhengzhou must be the "Henan Museum".
.
Henan Museum, a national museum, has a total of eight exhibition halls, from the Neolithic Age to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, telling the history of China for thousands of years through the display of cultural relics.
.
The museum has 9 major treasures:
Fuhao Owl Zun: A wine vessel in the shape of an owl, with the inscription "Fuhao" cast on the inner wall and a bow-shaped coin with an animal head on the back. Its discovery proves that the Chinese Bronze Age reached a new peak.
.
Duling Square Ding: Ding No. 2. There is also a larger one, No. 1, which has been taken away by the state. The Ding is rectangular, flat-bottomed, with the famous animal face pattern on the body, and nipple pattern on the sides and bottom. The Duling Square Ding is the earliest large copper square Ding found in China. There is a video next to the Ding that talks about the casting process. Be sure to watch it.
.
Jiahu Bone Flute: Known as the best flute in China, it is made of the wing bones of a crane and has seven holes. There are also some small holes on the side for tuning, which is very interesting. Its excavation provides important material for the study of Chinese music and the history of the development of Chinese musical instruments.
.
Ru Kiln Sky Blue Glaze Carved Goose Neck Vase: Ru official porcelain was used by the emperor and was only produced for about 20 years in the late Northern Song Dynasty. After that, the Ru kiln disappeared and the technology was lost. It is generally recognized that there are only 67 and a half pieces of Ru official porcelain handed down from ancient times, of which only four pieces are sky blue glazed. Only this sky blue glazed work was found in the archaeological excavation of the Ru official kiln site, which is unique and very precious.
.
Wu Zetian's Golden Tablet: The inscription records that Wu Zetian came to Songshan to pray on July 7, the first year of the Jiushi reign, and sent the palace eunuch Hu Chao to cast a tablet to the gods to ask for forgiveness of sins and disasters. This is not only the only golden tablet found in China, but also the only movable cultural relic related to Wu Zetian that has been found so far.
.
The Four Gods and Clouds Mural: Known as the "Dunhuang before Dunhuang", it features dragons, white tigers, red birds, monsters, ganoderma lucidum, and cloud patterns. It is the most complete tomb mural in China.
.
Cloud-patterned bronze ban: The body of the vessel is supported by copper stems of different thicknesses with multiple layers of hollow cloud patterns. Twelve dragon-shaped beasts are climbing around the ban, and another twelve are squatting under the ban as feet. The discovery of the cloud-patterned bronze ban has pushed the history of China's lost wax craft forward by 1,100 years.
.
Lotus and Crane Square Pot: The pot crown is in the shape of a double-layered blooming lotus petal, and a crane with its wings spread out stands on the flat lid in the middle. The two sides of the pot neck are decorated with dragon-shaped monsters looking back. This is a rare treasure that connects the past and the future in the Bronze Age.
.
Jade-handled iron sword: Known as "China's No. 1 Sword", its excavation pushed China's iron smelting history forward by 200 years.
.
TIPS: It is strongly recommended to hire a tour guide at the entrance of Exhibition Hall 1. The 2.5-hour tour cost 360 yuan for two of us. If we hadn't gone late, we could have listened to the 4-hour tour. Through the tour guide, we can have a more detailed understanding of the cultural relics and the entire history of the development of Chinese civilization. It is very worthwhile.
It is worth going, but you need to grab tickets on the official account 3 days in advance, because there are so many people. You can't store bags at the tourist service center, you can only store them at the entrance. Try to bring small bags or travel light. There are two free stamps on the first floor.
Henan Museum tickets are free, but reservations are required. Visitors without reservations are not allowed.
There are three types of explanations: manual explanation, VR explanation, and recorded explanation.
Manual explanations are very expensive and you need to form a group on your own.
The VR explainer is useless. There are very few exhibits that provide explanations. Sometimes the exhibits cannot be found, and sometimes they cannot be scanned or the corresponding exhibits appear.
I haven't used the recorded audio guide because there were so many people during the National Day holiday that all of them had been borrowed. Many people were waiting next to the machine until others had returned it before borrowing another one.
Personally, I feel that explanations are very important. The experience of going to the Shaanxi History Museum was particularly good because the ticket included a human explanation. However, none of the Henan Museums offer packages with human explanations, and the machine explanations are always much worse, and the experience is just average.
Sima Qian once recorded in his historical book that "the residences of the three dynasties were all between the Yellow River and the Luo River." The wonderful stories collected by the Henan Museum are definitely no less than those in Xi'an. What a pity.
The most popular archaeological blind box among the surrounding products, it feels very suitable as a souvenir.
It is a must-see if you come to Henan. I have never felt so shocked by ancient pottery. The bronze ware is also moderate and peaceful, not as gorgeous as Zeng Houyi in Hubei Provincial Museum. If you encounter folk music performances, I recommend going to appreciate them.
The Henan Museum became popular on the Internet during the Spring Festival due to the dance program "Tang Palace Night Banquet" in this year's Henan Spring Festival Gala.
By chance, I visited the reopened Henan Museum on New Year's Day and had the honor of listening to the performance of the Jiahu bone flute from more than 8,000 years ago.
The Henan Museum in Zhengzhou was famous during the period when the movie "National Treasure" was released, but it has been under renovation and its full view has not been visible for five years. For five years, only the "Elephant Central Plains" exhibition hall has been open. I didn't have much hope, but a week before we left, I learned that the Henan Museum would officially reopen on this year's National Day! This means that we can see the new look of the Henan Museum, which took five years to renovate! It is so exciting. The historical relics gathered inside are not just as simple as five thousand years. The prehistoric civilization is just as wonderful. Friends who come to Zhengzhou must take a day to visit here. This is one of the best ways to experience the ancient capital of the Central Plains.
Wherever I go, I will go to the Provincial Museum because there are countless treasures. Henan has been looking forward to it for a long time, because in a big province like this in the Central Plains, you might come across an object if you dig casually. I remember when I was in Kaifeng, the tour guide talked about cities stacked up on top of each other, and I wondered how many good things there must be underground... But the most unfortunate thing is that the main museum is under maintenance, and the treasures have been hidden away and not on display to the public, such as the famous Lotus and Crane Square Pot, Gold-Threaded Jade Clothes, and Wu Zetian's gold medal. It's really not nice, I'll deduct one star from it!
I just went to the Henan Museum. The museum is still under construction. I focused on ancient culture. There are many things before the Han Dynasty, and I have a certain level of appreciation, especially bronze artifacts. The iron jade sword is very 👍🏻. The things from other eras cannot be compared with the National Museum. The number is very small, and I heard that the rich borrowed it in Shenzhen and is not in the museum at present.
Henan Museum is the origin of ancient Chinese civilization.
Very disappointed, the main building is under renovation and there are very few exhibits on display...
I asked the lady working on the job and she said the renovation will take until the second half of next year. It has already been two years... Come back and see it after it is finished!
Exhibits from the first season of National Treasure. The Fuhao Owl Zun, the Cloud Patterned Bronze Ban, and the Jiahu Bone Flute were on tour and were not seen.
There were many exhibits, but due to time constraints I didn't find any of the bronze ban, the lotus and crane bronze square pot, or the white-glazed green-colored long-necked vase. I did see a gold-thread jade burial suit that belonged to someone else, and the golden bamboo slips of Wu Zetian, which made me happy.
❗❗Henan Museum is under renovation❗❗
❗❗Henan Museum is under renovation❗❗
❗❗Henan Museum is under renovation❗❗
Only one treasure house is open, the others are closed!!
I don’t know when the renovation will be completed!!
I came here by train. Don't ask, I'll just cry😭
I went to the Henan Provincial Museum because it was famous, but it was not renovated yet. I could only visit a small exhibition area in the side hall. I didn't see many of the famous treasures of the museum. It was said that they were exhibited in other places. In general, it was a pity that I didn't see the whole museum after it was renovated.
Because the main hall was under maintenance, only a small hall on the west side was open. It introduced the history of the Henan region with highly concentrated exhibits (2-3 display boards, 5-8 artifacts to represent a dynasty), including the Nanzhao ape-man in the Paleolithic Age, the Peiligang, Jiahu and Yangshao cultures in the Neolithic Age, and the subsequent dynastic history was very simple. It only took an hour to finish. And there was no ancient music performance in the afternoon on Friday.
Henan Museum is one of the few "museums" with high standards. Unfortunately, since the renovation in July 2015, only a small hall has been opened. I hope I can have a chance to see the complete cultural relics exhibition next time. There is an episode in the second season of "National Treasure" about Henan Museum, which is very meaningful!
Henan Museum is located on Nongye Road, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is a national key museum, one of the earliest museums in China, and one of the first national museums jointly built by the central and local governments. The predecessor of Henan Museum was Henan Provincial Museum. It was built in the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927) under the leadership of Feng Yuxiang. The old site was located at No. 31 Sansheng Street, Longting District, Kaifeng City. After several changes, the museum moved to Zhengzhou in 1961. The new museum was completed and opened on May 1, 1998. The exhibition hall covers an area of more than 10,000 square meters and has a collection of 140,000 cultural relics. Most of the cultural relics in the collection come from archaeological excavations in Shangqiu, Luoyang, Anyang, Kaifeng, Xichuan, Sanmenxia, Huixian, Xinzheng and other places in the early 20th century. Prehistoric cultural relics, Shang and Zhou bronzes, ceramics and jades of various dynasties are the most distinctive. Among them, there are more than 5,000 national first-level cultural relics and national second-level cultural relics, which have extremely high historical, cultural and artistic values. Some of the collections are known as national treasures. During the Anti-Japanese War, some of the precious cultural relics of Henan Museum were finally collected in the National Museum of History in Taiwan after several twists and turns. The main building of the main exhibition hall is based on the ancient observatory of the Yuan Dynasty (the earliest existing observatory site in China, located in Dengfeng, Henan), and is artistically exaggerated into a "crown pyramid" shape. Its base is a square with a length of 63 meters and a height of 45.5 meters. The interior is designed with five floors, one of which is underground. The crown is in the shape of a square bucket, rising up and covering down, which means that it receives "manna" from above and "earth energy" from below, implying that the Central Plains is the source of China and integrates all directions. The external wall is earthy yellow-brown, which means that the "loess" and "Yellow River" of the Central Plains gave birth to Chinese civilization. The front of the main hall has light blue transparent windows from top to bottom and transparent light strips from top to bottom, which has the majestic momentum of "the water of the Yellow River comes from the sky". Collection masterpieces: Lotus and Crane Square Pot, Fuhao Owl Zun, Duling Square Ding, Cloud Pattern Bronze Ban, Wu Zhao Golden Tablet, Jade-Handled Iron Sword, Jiahu Bone Flute, Four Gods Cloud Painting, etc.
The renovation of Henan Museum has been completed. The museum is worthy of its reputation as the Central Plains Land and its collection of cultural relics is worth seeing.
Because it is under renovation, many exhibition halls are not open, you can only see them in the temporary exhibition halls
The main building is currently under repair and there is only a temporary exhibition hall.
The Henan Museum has a rich collection, but when I went there, only a small part of it was open due to maintenance. I'll go to Zhengzhou to see it again when I have the chance.
The main building is currently under maintenance, with only one exhibition and one group of activities.
The museum contains many precious historical relics and is conveniently located for transportation, making it a worthwhile attraction in Zhengzhou.
The main hall is under renovation. I reviewed the history of Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties in the temporary exhibition hall. I saw Fu Hao's owl-shaped zun and cloud-patterned bronze ban, but the Jiahu bone flute was not there, which was a pity.
When you come to Zhengzhou, you can't miss the Henan Museum. Unfortunately, the museum is under renovation and only one exhibition is open. What a pity!
It was under renovation when I went there, so the main building was not open, which was a bit disappointing.
I went there for the bone flute, but unexpectedly discovered a chime performance. It was not the peak season, so there were not many people watching, but the actors still performed very seriously. Thumbs up.
Since the main building is under renovation, there is nothing to visit. Only a small part of the main building's collection is exhibited in the west, which can be carefully viewed in an hour.
Daxiang Zhongyuan - the birthplace of Chinese culture. It has a long history and rich culture. The shadows of the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Ceramic Culture can be seen everywhere. Here, you can also follow the trajectory of dynasty changes and witness the development of human history and civilization.
The pyramid in the middle is still under renovation, so I didn't go in. The others are just so-so.
Visit the oracle bone inscriptions and learn a few characters effortlessly.
Exquisite bronze ware. Imagine that the bronze ware 3,000 years ago was glittering with gold, and it turned into the bronze green color it is today due to long-term oxidation.
I went back and forth in the museum and looked around carefully several times, and only left reluctantly at noon.
I saw all three national treasures. Zhongyuan is really extraordinary. The collection is so rich. Only a small part of it is exhibited, but they are all very fine things. It is worth coming here. It is shocking.
The main hall is under maintenance... I didn't see too many collections, it's free!!
When I went there, the main building was under renovation, and the exterior facade was also under renovation as shown in the picture. I could only visit the small exhibition hall that was temporarily moved to the west podium, but the fine works were basically all there. The provincial bronze ware in China is second only to the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, of course not as good as the National Museum of China. I think it is slightly better than the Shanghai Museum and the Hubei Museum. The Lotus and Crane Square Pot, Fuhao Owl Zun and Cloud Pattern Bronze Ban are all important treasures. There are also the Jiahu Bone Flute and the Ru Kiln Carved Goose Neck Vase and other treasures of the town. If you like museums, you must go there.
In the museum boom driven by "National Treasure", you stopped three years ago. As a fellow villager, I am optimistic about you, but I also hate your LD.
"National Treasure" made Henan Museum very popular. There were not so many people going to museums before. It is not like Shaanxi History Museum, where you can buy tickets for the Treasure Hall or the Mural Hall to enter first. In Henan Museum, you have to queue up to death. I have seen the queues in Shaanxi History Museum, but I have never queued up in Henan Museum. I really think that the queues of only two or three hundred meters in Henan Museum are nothing, just queue up. It probably took less than an hour. Henan Museum is currently under maintenance. It is said that it has been under maintenance for a long time and has not been completed. Now some exhibits have been moved to the west annex room, combined into the "Elephant Central Plains" exhibition hall, and the east annex room is doing a contemporary calligraphy art exhibition. I am not interested at all, I only want to see "Elephant Central Plains".
The main museum is not open. I went there after watching the National Treasure. I still saw several major treasures. It is worth a visit.
The Henan Museum has been under renovation for a long time, and it will probably take at least two years to complete the renovation! The current temporary exhibition hall has only one floor, which is not even as good as the city museums in 18th-tier cities. It is small and crowded, and there are basically no treasures on display. The exhibits are not very rich, and even the sealing of the display cabinets is not good. It is really insincere.
If it's not on your way, don't come. If it's on your way, you can take a look around. It only takes about an hour to finish the tour. The cute Fuhao Huzun is on display.
I went to the museum this afternoon. It was being renovated, so only a small hall on the first floor was open. I finished the tour in 10 minutes and listened to the tour guide.
The main hall is currently under renovation, so I can only visit the small exhibition in the side hall to comfort myself.
It's a small pity that the main hall of Henan Provincial Museum is under repair and is not open to the public. Only a small exhibition hall next to it is open, and I can't see the whole museum systematically. However, even if it is just a small exhibition hall, the cultural relics displayed in it are still worth a visit. We arrived at the entrance of the museum at about 9:30 on Sunday morning. There was a long queue at the ticket counter. It took us more than ten minutes to queue up to get the ticket, but we were told that there was no guide. We could only find volunteers who were explaining in the museum. We listened to most of it, but we couldn't listen to the whole process. It took us two or three hours to read it carefully. I guess I can spend a day in it after the renovation of the main hall of Henan Provincial Museum is completed. There are ancient music performances in the museum at 11 am and 3 pm, and the ticket price is 30 yuan. Musicians dressed in ancient costumes play with various replicas of ancient musical instruments. The sound of ancient music is either ethereal and long, or fresh and graceful, or low and hoarse. The lingering sound lingers in the ears for three days.
It is still under renovation, and the collection is very small. I finished looking at it in an hour. There are also few stools in the rest area.
Today we came to the long-awaited Henan Museum. Because the main museum was under construction, we went to visit the small museum next to it. It was crowded with people and there were not many exhibits (compared to the main museum), which was a bit disappointing.
There are too few cultural relics and poor management. It is much worse than the Hebei Museum. Disappointed
【View the Treasures of Henan Ancient Civilization Exhibition】
Since the summer of 2015, the main building of the Henan Museum has begun maintenance. Fortunately, a treasure exhibition has been set up in the west exhibition hall, and I was fortunate to witness part of it.
p1~3 are the more familiar ones to everyone, including the Fuhao owl-shaped urn, Jiahu bone flute and cloud-patterned bronze ban that appeared in "National Treasure".
The Fuhao Owl Zun has now become a mascot of the Henan Museum and is made into plush toys for sale😅
The Jiahu bone flute is the oldest musical instrument discovered in Chinese archaeology and also the earliest playable musical instrument in the world. It truly reflects the high level of development of China's prehistoric musical civilization.
The cloud-patterned bronze ban is actually very spectacular. It is hard to believe that a case can be made so gorgeously. Of course, this also happens to confirm the superb bronze ware technology of ancient China.
p5 The oracle bones with inscriptions unearthed from the Yin Ruins in Anyang, Henan Province are very clear under the camera lens. They are the oldest mature characters in the Chinese dynasty period. When I was a child, I read "The Mystery of Characters" and had a deep memory of oracle bone inscriptions.
p6 Jade-handled iron sword, the earliest smelted iron unearthed in China, the jade is still visible, the iron has decayed for thousands of years
p7 Very exquisite ivory fan, in terms of carving and hollowing technology, I only admire the people of our great China
p8 The three-color tripod pot that my mom likes. The Henan Museum has a collection of some Tang Sancai collections, but the most diverse and colorful Tang Sancai collections I have seen are in the Xi'an Museum. You can go there if you have time during the summer vacation~
p9 sounds very interesting, it is said to be a temperature measuring instrument🤔
Henan Museum is a culmination of thousands of years of culture and is worth a visit.
Free but not free tickets, you need to exchange your ID card for tickets. Here you can see the origin culture of the Central Plains, tracing back to the Chinese civilization 5,000 years ago, and you can also see the three treasures of the museum exhibited in "National Treasure": Jiahu Bone Flute, Fuhao Owl Zun, and Cloud Pattern Bronze Ban
There are also various precious unearthed cultural relics in the museum, which are worthy of our appreciation and study.
Only the elephant Central Plains exhibition hall on the side was open. It was not very good. Some county-level museums are much better than Henan Museum. I don't understand why the provincial museum is like this. Later I went to Zhengzhou Museum, which was quite good and exceeded my expectations, especially the Afghanistan exhibition hall on the third floor.
Although the main museum is under repair, there are fewer visible cultural relics, and it is a pity that the exquisite lotus and crane square pot is not available. Fortunately, six of the nine treasures of the museum are authentic, including the Jiahu bone flute, Fuhao owl urn, and cloud-patterned bronze ban. The exquisiteness of the treasures glimpsed through the mirror has been vividly and clearly described, and the codes deep in the civilization are connected, which can be expected to be three-dimensional in the pursuit.
The most fortunate thing was that I listened to a wonderful lecture, which emphasized that the cultural relics pieced together the complete history of writing, porcelain history, bronze casting history, and pottery development history. The context was clear and the background was profound. I came back with an unforgettable gossipy heart and found out that Mr. Lei was actually a deputy bureau-level leader. The fact that he came to be a volunteer shows that the museum has gathered a wide range of talents.
Because the Henan Provincial Museum was under renovation at the time, only a few exhibits were arranged in a small temporary exhibition hall. It was a bit regrettable that we had too high expectations for a province with many cultural relics. It took only a little over an hour to finish the tour.
I basically go there every year for three consecutive years. The main hall has not been renovated yet, which makes me anxious. I really want to see the "Four Gods Cloud Picture"
When I came, the main building was being renovated, so the exhibition was only held in the annex building, so the scale was a bit small, but it was not a pity at all. I was lucky enough to see five of the eight treasures of the Henan Museum!
It is very close to the hotel. I went there with high hopes, but found that it was under repair. There is a modern exhibition on the right hand side of the first floor, and an exhibition (with cultural relics) on the right hand side of the exhibition hall door. There are not many. Henan Provincial Museum is the worst museum I have ever been to. The attitude of the staff is also very bad. I think it is not as good as Luoyang Museum in all aspects.
Mainly under repair!!! That's right! It's not ready yet! There are only two exhibitions in total, but both are worth taking your time to see. There should be two in the main hall, but one is empty. There is a side hall on the right hand side of the main hall exit, but there is no obvious sign, so it is easy to miss it.
The renovation started in 2015 and was scheduled to reopen in 2017, but it has not been completed yet, and only four regular exhibition halls are open. Among them, the Elephant Central Plains Exhibition is the most impressive. Jiahu Bone Flute, Fuhao Owl Zun, Cloud Pattern Bronze Ban are all on display. The Sword of King Fuchai of Wu is also on display. There are also many exhibits similar to those in the Luoyang Museum.
Because I have watched "National Treasure", I have a very deep understanding of the three treasures of the museum. Now that I see them with my own eyes, I feel more familiar with them and can better appreciate their mystery and charm after thousands of years. When choosing souvenirs, an enthusiastic staff member also told us the story of another treasure of the museum - the Lotus and Crane Square Pot. Unfortunately, it was not on display at that time, so we didn't get to see its true appearance.
One of the provinces with the largest collection of cultural relics, the museum has rich and diverse collections. Not many people, it is worth going.
Whenever I go to a city, I will definitely go to a museum. As the capital of Henan Province, Zhengzhou is no exception. Unfortunately, the main building of Henan Museum is under renovation and is not open to the public. Only the small museum next to it is used for temporary exhibitions. There is much less to see in the small museum, and there are not many people. I just took a quick look and left.
The main building is based on the earliest existing observatory site in my country, the Dengfeng Observatory of the Yuan Dynasty, and is artistically exaggerated into a pyramid with a crown. The design of the entire building complex is centered on the majestic and broad "spirit of the Central Plains", with simple and vigorous lines, novel and unique shapes, unique style, and magnificent momentum. It can be called a rare landmark building that embodies the cultural characteristics of the Central Plains and the spirit of the times.
The first stop today was the Henan Museum, which is less than five minutes’ drive from the hotel. However, today is the first day of the May Day holiday. When we arrived outside the door, there was already a long line of people waiting for tickets to enter the museum. After parking the car, we also lined up and successfully received the tickets in about ten minutes. At present, the main building of the Henan Museum is under maintenance, and some exhibits have been diverted to temporary exhibition areas around it.
The museum only opened 3 exhibition halls, 1 main exhibition hall, 2 temporary exhibitions, and all 3 treasures of "National Treasure" can be seen. 2 hours is enough for all.
I don’t know when the Henan Museum will be renovated, but it’s better than the Hunan Museum closing for five years.
(Hunan Museum is now open and the effect is great)
It's worth visiting, especially the bronze ware is breathtakingly beautiful. I didn't finish the tour in more than 2 hours and had to leave when the museum closed. The surname T-shirt is very unique and the price of 99 yuan is acceptable. The self-service rubbings are quite interesting and not expensive.
The museum is under repair, and only one floor of the main building is open... Why is there repair work everywhere in Zhengzhou...
For those who like historical relics
I'm sure it will come.
It has not been repaired since 2015...will give a new score after it is repaired...
The reason for the three stars is simple, the main building is under renovation. There is nothing to see in the two temporarily open ones, which is a bit unworthy of the title of provincial museum. Why? For renovation, should they close the museum completely and give an approximate time like Hunan Province? Or should they exhibit more? In the end, I came all the way here to see a Pakistani Buddha statue exhibition and a Jin Qishi porcelain exhibition.
The special exhibition was great, and the bronzes from Henan were exquisite.
Taking advantage of the popularity of "National Treasure", and thinking that Kaifeng is not far from Zhengzhou, I had this one-day trip to the Henan Museum. When I went there, the main building of the museum was still under repair, and there were few cultural relics to see, but fortunately I came across an Egyptian cultural relic exhibition. There were two pink sphinxes decorated with balloons at the door! I ran to the Egyptian pavilion as soon as possible, which was on the first floor, but when everyone saw my travel notes, the exhibition had ended. The exhibits of the original museum are in the Elephant Central Plains exhibition area on the right, and the cute owl is waiting for everyone to appreciate.
The most famous museum in Henan is actually the Luoyang Museum, but the Henan Provincial Museum, located in the provincial capital Zhengzhou, is also very good because it houses classic cultural relics from across the province, and large-scale exchange exhibitions from various countries are also held here.
During the Spring Festival in 2018, we happened to catch the Egyptian cultural relics exhibition, which allowed us to experience the exotic charm without leaving the country.
The Egyptian cultural relics exhibition that I encountered by chance was only one of the highlights of Henan Museum during the Spring Festival in 2018, and the most important thing was the real collection of Henan Museum. The treasures of the museum include Jiahu bone flute, ivory cabbage, jade handle iron sword, etc., and some pottery from Luoyang. Speaking of Luobo, I must recommend it, and it is also another museum that I must visit in my life. I got to know Luobo because I was shocked when I encountered the Luoyang Museum exhibition at Datong Museum, and a history major recommended it to me when I visited Shaanxi History Museum.
This trip to Henan Expo made me remember a place - Lushan County, a county with many cultural relics in Henan. Please search Baidu for the exact number of cultural relics unearthed in this county.
Even more distinctive is the architectural style of the Henan Museum, which looks like a pyramid from the side, and also like the Arhat's Heaven-turning Seal in the Investiture of the Gods. Everyone likes architecture very much, and likes its architectural shape very much.
The main venue is under renovation, so the collections are temporarily placed in a building next to it. Because the temporary venue is small, only 100 pieces of collections are on display, and the rest are sealed. However, the artifacts of the Egyptian Museum are now on tour here, which is worth seeing.
The only place in Zhengzhou worth stopping at is the museum, which has a unique architectural style. It is said to be modeled after the observatory in the Yuan Dynasty. The museum's logo is also two triangles above and below. There are six authentic treasures among the nine treasures in the museum, which are worth savoring.
When I went there, there was an exhibition of Egyptian artifacts borrowed from Turin, but there weren't many things. The collection of the Provincial Museum was richer! Very exquisite!
During the winter vacation last year, I took a music history course at the Central Conservatory of Music. For the first time, I learned about the Jiahu bone flute unearthed in Henan. It is said to be the earliest musical instrument in China and even in the world. Although it is small, it is powerful and can play seven-tone music. It is amazing. The teacher said that this flute can be seen in the Henan Museum. I have been thinking about it for a long time and finally got to see it. In addition, the Chinese civilization originated in the Central Plains, and many bronze artifacts were unearthed here. Although I have seen many bronze artifacts in other museums before, I have never tasted the charm of bronze products until I saw a variety of bronzes here. They are unique, with different shapes and many styles. It is amazing. For the first time, I experienced the fun of bronze.
