Shaolin Temple is a place I have always wanted to visit, a childhood dream. I came here during the Qingming Festival holiday. I set out from Inner Mongolia and came to the capital Zhengzhou. I bought a ticket from the Zhengzhou Bus Station. The bus was scheduled for 11:30, but I had to wait until 3 o'clock to get on the bus. It was more than 5 o'clock when I arrived in Dengfeng City. I found a hotel to stay in first. The next morning, I went to Dengfeng Bus Station to take the bus to Shaolin Temple. I finally arrived. I visited Shaolin Temple, Pagoda Forest and other attractions. They were very commercialized. Then I took the cable car to the essence of the scenic spot Sanhuangzhai. As a result, I queued for more than an hour to go up. I walked for about 2 hours to the suspension bridge. The scenery was really beautiful, but I was also very tired. I turned back to the cable car area down the mountain and queued up to take the cable car down the mountain. This wait was more than 2 hours. There were so many tourists. I was... Finally, I went down. It was already 7 o'clock in the evening. I ran all the way to the starting point of the scenic spot, picked up the travel bag stored in the shopping store, and waited for another 40 minutes for the bus to Luoyang. It was 1 o'clock in the morning when I arrived in Luoyang and stayed there. You know this feeling, mushroom, blue and thin...

After having a filling meal of stewed noodles, we drove to Shaolin Temple.

As a Henan native, I came to Shaolin Temple for the first time when I was in my thirties and brought my wife and children home. I feel ashamed.

What is your first impression of Shaolin Temple? Is Shaolin the origin of all Kung Fu? What are the 72 unique skills of Shaolin?

In fact, Shaolin is the ancestral temple of Zen Buddhism, which was founded by Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen sect, who faced the wall for ten years.

There are actually several attractions in the Shaolin Temple scenic area. First, there is the Shaolin Martial Arts School performance, then you can visit the Shaolin Zen Temple. Next to it is the Shifang Zen Temple, and further ahead is the Pagoda Forest. There seems to be a Three Emperors Peak as well, but we didn’t see it.

It is said that Shaolin Temple is very commercialized, but we didn't feel that during our visit. There were no fake monks who forced you to buy things. When you arrive at the Zen temple, there are masters who will take the initiative to explain the stories of various places in Shaolin Temple for free. The masters seem to be very knowledgeable and their explanations are very clear. Most of the explanations are about clearing the name of Shi Yongxin.

There was a small episode in Shaolin Temple. My cell phone was accidentally lost. After I found it, I rushed to the original place to look for it. Several tourists were waiting for us with their cell phones. There are still many good people in this world.

By the way, when we went there, Shaolin Temple was hosting the World Zen Conference. There were many foreign Shaolin lay disciples, some dark-skinned, some white, some blond, and many of them older.

I had a great time today. The tour guide Xiao Yan was very nice and patient. The lunch we had at noon was delicious. The amount of meat and eggs in the stir-fried dishes was no less than at home, and the taste was also very good. The scenic area of Shaolin Temple is not very large, but Songshan is very high. We took the cable car back and forth. Due to time and physical reasons, we did not walk to Sanhuangzhai. The scenery on the mountain is very good, and it would be even better if the trees were green!

Although the Shaolin Temple has seven courtyards, it does not feel very large and is no different in layout from other temples. The only difference is that Shaolin Kung Fu is famous all over the world. As it was a little late, I did not have time to watch the Shaolin Kung Fu performance, but I would still like to see it if time permits.

The most important buildings are the Hall of Heavenly Kings and the Main Hall. We also paid special attention to the Sutra Library, which is not very big. I wonder if Xiao Yuanshan and Murong Bo can fit in it.

There are not many tourists at this time. There are couplets on the doors of the main hall and the meditation room, which are full of Zen and the atmosphere of the New Year. There is no commercial side. The temple provides free incense and donations are optional. As the Year of the Pig is approaching, it is a blessing to be able to pray in the "world's first famous temple".

The Shaolin Temple is not big and you can finish the tour quickly. Because of the movie, many people probably have a Shaolin martial arts dream. It feels like it is basically famous for martial arts. There are many people selling roasted sweet potatoes and agricultural and sideline products in the temple of Zen Buddhism. At the door of a hall in the northwest corner of the temple, there are monks blocking the road and handing incense to ask for money. It is full of commercial atmosphere. In the words of my old lady, these are all disturbing the Buddha's tranquility, which makes people feel bad. The temple is not like a simple temple. Compared with the White Horse Temple dozens of kilometers away, it is really incomparable. I hope that the management of the Shaolin Temple will find a place outside the temple to do commercial things and return a quiet environment to the temple.

As an overdeveloped tourist attraction, Shaolin Temple would still be able to maintain the elegance of a thousand-year-old temple if there were not so many noisy tourists and you could quietly burn three incense sticks.

It’s a pity that there are too many people, disturbing the quiet place of Buddhism, which is a sin.

Pagoda Forest became famous because of the movie Shaolin Temple. As the burial place of eminent monks of all generations, I wonder if it is considered a blasphemy to be surrounded by tourists like this.

Shaolin Temple has brought back so many childhood memories. I must see it if I have a chance. Although friends and relatives have reminded me that it doesn't matter whether I see it or not, I still created a chance for myself to see Shaolin. I took a rest in Tangshan on the first day of my self-driving trip from Harbin, and checked into the Shaolin Temple scenic area on the second day. Vehicles can enter after 17:00, but the entry was delayed for 15 minutes due to parking fees. Originally, the ETC would automatically deduct the fee when the car left. At the entrance, two old women insisted on charging the fee before entering. The hotel staff came out to pick them up before letting them go. This was a management issue. The hotel is decorated in a very stylish way but it is too cold. There is nothing left in the scenic area after 17:00 when everyone is off work. Fortunately, the hotel has a restaurant, otherwise I would have to go hungry. On the third day, I entered the temple early in the morning. The guide gave me a lecture for 50 yuan (better than nothing). The whole temple was visited along the central axis. Except for the abbot's reception room, which was guarded by security guards and not allowed to enter, other places were open to visit. There was no mandatory charge for burning incense, but it was not free either. I paid 20 yuan at will, and I paid 100 yuan for a peace charm at will (you can use WeChat and give me a pendant). I learned that this peace charm also has a one-year warranty period. The staff was a little stiff and commercial. The hole in the tree trunk is a one-finger Zen, the 1,300-jin iron pot for cooking, and the pits on the ground of the Bodhidharma Hall are all static manifestations of kung fu. The performance of the young master of the martial arts academy is very beautiful, and there are also capable people in the interactive audience. I admire it! There are also tourist souvenirs in the temple that are so lousy that I can't arouse the desire to buy them. I walked out of the mountain gate and walked around the pagoda forest and ended this trip. I have no say in attractions such as the Bodhidharma Cave, but I finally fulfilled my childhood wish, but my childishness is gone! To sum up, I think if you have a personal attachment to this place you can visit it, but if not then it is not necessary. I also heard that the scenic spot is owned by a travel company in Hong Kong. Based on my previous understanding of Hong Kong people's management, a little bit of their management philosophy and status is reflected here. I really hope that it will be improved, otherwise this ancient temple may lose its glory.

Today I finally arrived at the holy land of my childhood, the Shaolin Temple, the birthplace of Chinese martial arts. The 1982 movie Shaolin Temple is so popular that the movie ticket price of 1 cent per ticket achieved a box office of 100 million, which can be called a miracle of that generation and a classic memory of us born in the 1980s. For this reason, I reviewed the movie again before coming to this attraction, hoping to find more scenes from the movie on the spot. I was deeply touched when I arrived at the scene. Although it is highly commercialized, I do not regret coming here. I fulfilled a childhood dream, a martial arts dream. Thanks to my wife and son for their company. I know he doesn't like it here. If you have a Shaolin Temple complex, I recommend you to come here to fulfill your dream.

When I think of Shaolin Temple, the movie "Shaolin Temple" and the handsome Kung Fu boy Jet Li immediately come to my mind. Shaolin Kung Fu is so powerful! From then on, I have great respect for Shaolin Temple. It is a holy place in my heart. I visited Shaolin Temple on purpose. Although it is not as sacred as in the movie, and even a little dilapidated, it is quiet and solemn. Walking in it, the smoke is lingering, the bells are melodious, and the mystery of Buddhism is everywhere. Today, many people criticize the commercialization of Shaolin Temple. But what can we do? In this commercial society, there is no pure land.

The route must be planned well. I felt a little regretful that I didn’t go to Sanhuangzhai due to time constraints.

To climb the Bodhidharma Cave, you have to return along the same route. The journey is quite long, taking at least an hour to go up the mountain and 40 minutes to go down the mountain.

You can’t go inside Tallinn, but from the outside it does look quite like the ones in the movie.

The performance in the martial arts hall was really amazing. The latest performance in the morning was 11 o'clock, and it seemed to start at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, about half an hour per show.

I went there during the off-season, and there were still some tour groups.

Pick up the tickets you bought online in advance at the entrance of Shaolin Temple. Luggage storage at the service center at the entrance is no longer free, and it costs 20 yuan per box. The merchant next door can also store your luggage for 10 yuan.

We took a Didi taxi from the entrance of Shaolin Temple to Sanhuangzhai, and started to climb the mountain from there, and then walked back to Shaolin Temple. We didn't take the cable car, but walked the whole way, which took more than eight hours from entering the gate to leaving. If you don't want to climb the mountain, it is recommended to go directly from Shaolin Temple, take the cable car up and walk a little to Shuce Cliff for a fee to take pictures.

As soon as you enter the door you will see the Hero's Slope, which is a very steep staircase. However, few people walk here, so it is a good place to take photos.

The thousand-year-old temple is definitely worth a visit. You must have a tour guide to explain so that you can gain a lot of knowledge. It would not be worth it if you just take a quick look. I watched the martial arts performances, listened to the tour guide talk about Kangxi's inscriptions, Qianlong's poems, the story of the thirteen monks who saved the Tang King, and saw the thousand-year-old ginkgo tree and the ancient tree that witnessed the burning of Shaolin Temple. I really felt that the trip was worthwhile!

Tickets can only be purchased for the main entrance, and tickets for the Shaolin Temple cannot be purchased separately. This is a bit unreasonable!

When you get out of the cable car, you will first pass by the Forest of Pagodas, and then the world-famous Shaolin Temple.

When I visited, I didn't see any traditional rituals such as chanting and praying that are still maintained in Shaoguan Nanhua Temple. It just felt like there were crowds of people and a strong commercial atmosphere.

When you walk out of the scenic area, you will pass by the martial arts hall, which was changed to an outdoor venue due to the epidemic. The performers are all teenage students, performing hard qigong, breaking bricks with iron head kung fu, bending spears with sore throats, breaking glass with flying needles, etc. Traditional culture should continue to be promoted and supported. There was a little student performing flying needles. Maybe he was under a lot of pressure on the stage, and he couldn't break the glass. He repeated it four or five times. It's not easy for the little students. I wish them all success in their studies, good health, and successful careers.

Songshan Shaolin Temple is one of the must-see attractions in Henan. During the Tang Dynasty, the 13 monks saved the Tang Emperor, and the Tang Emperor granted the Shaolin Temple permission to have monk soldiers, so Shaolin martial arts became one of the representatives of Chinese martial arts.

Shaolin Temple is located in Dengfeng, which can be said to be the ancestral home of Buddhism. There are many Buddhist cultures in it. Not only Buddhist culture, but now it is also famous for its Shaolin Kung Fu. The three characters of Shaolin Temple have a great origin. It is said that they were written by Emperor Kangxi himself, which adds a touch of color to Shaolin Temple.

A place you will regret not visiting, and even more regretful if you come. From Zhengzhou, you can take a bus to Shaolin Temple at the bus station opposite Zhengzhou Railway Station. It is not recommended to buy online through bus tickets, which is too expensive. The ticket to Shaolin Temple is 80 yuan, and the scenic area bus is 25 yuan (not recommended, it says that the straight-line distance is very far, but it is not that far in reality, you can walk there). Suggested itinerary: Shaolin Temple☞Pagoda Forest☞Take the cable car up the mountain (Shaoshi Mountain Main Peak Cable Car 60 yuan round trip, Sanhuangzhai Cable Car 100 yuan round trip) In order to save time, it is recommended that you must take the cable car.

Promote Buddhism, educate all living beings, and create a pure land of Buddhism.

Entering from the Shaolin Temple scenic area, you will pass the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Hall, Shaolin Temple, and the Forest of Steles. Further in is the cableway to Mount Songshan.

For fear of running out of time, I first went up to Mount Songshan, then went down the mountain to visit the Shaolin Temple and watch a martial arts performance.

The Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Hall performance was a Kung Fu performance by a professional performance team affiliated with the Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau. It mainly displayed classic Shaolin Kung Fu such as Shaolin Eighteen Weapons, Shaolin Xiangxing Boxing, and Shaolin Hard Qigong. The performance lasted 30 minutes.

Performance times: 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00.

The martial arts performance is worth seeing!

The name of the temple comes from the fact that it is located deep in the dense forest at the foot of Shaoshi Mountain. In the early Tang Dynasty, the thirteen monks of Shaolin Temple were rewarded by Emperor Taizong of Tang for their contributions to the Tang Dynasty. They were given a thousand hectares of land and a water mill, and the monks of Shaolin were called monk soldiers. Since then, Shaolin Temple has become famous all over the world and is known as the world's number one temple.

The thousand-year-old temple is fascinating

There are also helicopter tours in the scenic area.

There are many people who buy Shaolin Temple souvenirs. There is a Shaolin pharmacy in the temple, where you can buy plasters with unique formulas, and there are attending doctors to see patients. The corn is grown by the temple itself, 5 yuan per head, which is not expensive. The Shaolin Temple commemorative coins are said to be blessed and can bring peace. I was lucky enough to see Fang Zheng walk into the abbot's room with my own eyes.

The Sutra Repository was burned down by a fire in the past, so there are no martial arts secrets in it. There is a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, which was given to Shaolin Temple by foreign friends.

There are footprints on the ground where the monks practiced martial arts.

It would be better to have a guide to explain the history.

Mainly reflected in the spiritual level of Zen, martial arts and medicine, which has been passed down for thousands of years! It has a wide range of popularity and influence in the world! It is an important business card of the country's soft power! It is a cultural phenomenon that combines dynamic and static! Shaolin Temple has a big gap in the hearts of most tourists! It feels that the name does not live up to the reality! It is famous for its Shaolin Kung Fu, which has been developed by successive generations of Shaolin monks. There is a saying that "Shaolin Kung Fu comes from all over the world, and Shaolin Kung Fu is the best in the world".

Shaolin Temple is now a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction and a national key cultural relic protection unit. The Tiandizhong historical building complex, including the Shaolin Temple Permanent Residence, Chuzu Nunnery and Pagoda Forest, is a famous world cultural heritage.

Starting from 00:00 on September 20, 2018, the ticket price for the Songshan Shaolin Temple scenic area will be reduced from 100 yuan per person to 80 yuan per person.

When you are riding on the tour bus, you will see waves of martial arts disciples walking by in neat rows, and you will also see them training on the martial arts field.

The Shaolin Temple itself is not very big, but the mountain is not high, but it is famous because of the immortals living there.

To be honest, if it has nothing to do with Kung Fu, you won't want to visit Shaolin Temple.

By Yukiko |

First, go to Songshan, the middle mountain of the Five Sacred Mountains. Then go down to the Shaolin Temple. Since it was a solo trip, I didn't encounter any scams.

The national treasure-level cultural relic protection unit has cheap tickets and is cost-effective.

There are many tourists and the buildings are all new, but the murals in the main hall and several ancient steles are quite interesting to listen to the tour guide's explanation.

Shaolin Temple is a world cultural heritage site, the ancestral home of Zen Buddhism and the birthplace of Chinese Kung Fu.

Most people who come to Shaolin Temple probably come because of their childhood love affair with it! But it is really a huge pitfall. Dengfeng's tourism management is really too poor. When I went there, I was stuck in traffic for more than an hour for 10 kilometers, and when I came back, I was stuck in traffic for an hour and a half in the parking lot. There is no flow limit and no warning. Such a crowded and chaotic scenic spot is really the worst place I have ever been to in my life. My friends in the same industry asked me to add one sentence: It is really bad, don't go.

The holy place in my childhood heart has extraordinary meaning. It turns out that it is a very normal temple~~~

By Leader's Dad |

What kind of tourist spot is this? There is no traffic police, and no security guards for parking fees. It's a mess. I've been to many places in the south and north, but I've never seen this place in Henan. This time I know.

It's pretty good. It has a bit of a commercial flavor. But a well-developed tourist attraction is always better than a depressed one.

The martial arts of the world come from Shaolin, and the movie "Shaolin Temple" directed by Zhang Xinyan made Shaolin Temple famous all over the world. My biggest dream in childhood and my first goal in life was to visit Shaolin Temple, and it finally came true! 🙏

By chencurl |

All the martial arts in the world originated from Shaolin. As a man, you must visit Shaolin Temple.

The performance was very exciting. Be careful not to get hurt when burning incense. Tallinn is also worth seeing.

I came here because of the fame of Shaolin Kung Fu and heard many stories.

Being famous is enough. Shaolin Kungfu is famous all over the world.

To our childhood, this movie is watched by everyone

By A Hao can't get fat |

Although it has been criticized for being too commercial, it is actually normal. After all, so many people come here to visit, so it is naturally commercial. It is best to visit early, because after 9 o'clock, a large number of tourist groups will come.

The Shaolin Temple is smaller than you might imagine, but it is a vibrant temple that carries on the tradition of martial arts.

It was pretty good, especially the martial arts performance, which was very satisfying. But the distance was too far.

If any friends go there, can you help me buy a few little monks for a fee? It's next to the big clock where I watch the show. If you can, please contact me!

In 2001, I was more interested in fun, so I went to climb Songshan Mountain and visit Shaolin Temple. But I felt that it was not very interesting. The atmosphere was too commercial, and it was a typical tourist attraction. There was not much Buddhist culture to appreciate, and the martial arts performances were just for show. It was far inferior to the famous Buddhist mountains.

As expected, the main gate of Shaolin Temple was already crowded with people at noon, which shows that it is very well-known. However, the popularity and historical value are often disproportionate, and most of the buildings on the facade were rebuilt in later generations.

The road is poorly maintained and a special highway should be built to enter the mountain. After the highway, there is still more than 10 kilometers of provincial roads that are very congested. Two hours is enough if you don't go up the mountain.

The long-admired Shaolin Temple in Songshan plays "The Shepherdess" on loop all over the mountain, which adds a sense of fun. There is an endless stream of people who come here to admire its reputation. There are also many stone tablets and Buddha statues donated from all over the country, which also shows the status of Shaolin in people's minds.

Since ancient times, the origin of Kung Fu in Shaolin is well-deserved!

By Roots |

It is very disappointing that a pure Buddhist place, home to authentic martial arts, has been turned into an ordinary commercialized temple for people to visit.

Not to mention martial monks, there isn’t even a single monk to be seen. All that is seen is the commercialization of traditional culture.

Another disappointing 5A scenic spot. It was far from what I imagined.

Moreover, the instructions were unclear and the training room could not be found.

Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng, Henan, is a thousand-year-old temple that lives up to its reputation.

By A moment |

We signed up for a one-day tour. The tour guide was very nice and good at explaining. Following the tour guide's explanations along the way felt more meaningful than just seeing the sights on my own. Shaolin Temple is very good and is the first choice when visiting Henan.

By Smell the rain in the morning |

The three words "Shaolin Temple" immediately bring to mind scenes from various martial arts novels, such as the Eighteen Bronze Men, Shaolin Cudgel Techniques, the Abbot Master, and the Sweeping Monk... Shaolin Temple has almost become synonymous with the righteousness of the martial arts world, chivalry, and Chinese Kung Fu. Unfortunately, we were too rushed to follow the one-day tour and could only take a quick look, and were unable to fully experience the Shaolin culture.

Tour suggestion: spend half a day or a day on your own.

During the peak season, there are too many tour groups. It is no longer a place for meditation. There are also artificial attractions, such as Shifang Zen Temple. It is boring.

2018.8.12 The father and son passed through Sanhuangzhai and climbed the mountain and took the cable car down the mountain to Shaolin Temple; it is a well-deserved tourist attraction; the pagoda forest, Shaolin Temple, Bodhidharma statue, martial arts performances, etc. are very historical and unique;

By Yihong Gongzi Sifan |

Let me talk about my actual feelings and experience. I also visited many peaks and finally went there. I drove there by myself. I parked my car at the gate of Shaolin Temple, bought tickets and walked to the gate of Shaolin Temple. It was not far away. Shaolin Temple was not as secular as everyone said. There was a martial arts school inside, which was normal. No one pulled us to buy anything or do anything. It was all voluntary. It is now a tourist attraction. Although it is secular, it is secular because we went there.

I read a lot of reviews about the route, but I was still misled by many people. I'm going to tell you so that you don't make the same mistake:

~~First, buy a ticket and enter the Shaolin Temple through the main gate (if you drive, park your car at the main gate parking lot for 15 yuan a day). It's two kilometers from the main gate to the Shaolin Temple main gate. You don't need an electric car. It's a scam. Can't you walk for two stops? Besides, inside the Shaolin Temple, no one pulled me in after I entered. Why did I buy anything? It's all voluntary. Someone asked if I wanted fifty yuan. The tour guide said no, but no one pestered me to buy anything. They just asked. No one forced me to pay for incense, and no one pulled me to pay. Overall, it's pretty good, unlike what many friends said. After walking a short distance out of the Shaolin Temple, you will reach the Pagoda Forest.) Today I saw The man took a photo with the pagoda forest. I really wanted to tell him not to take photos because the pagodas contain the bodies or ashes of past monks. Isn't that the same as taking photos with the dead? Going further ahead is the cableway. Speaking of the cableway, I was misled by Fengfeng. There are two roads. One goes to Shaoshi Mountain and the other goes to Sanhuangzhai. Shaoshi Mountain is the real main mountain of Songshan Mountain, 1,495 meters high. Sanhuangzhai is a mountain next to it, but Songshan Mountain is composed of these two mountains. It stands to reason that it takes two days to complete the journey. Shaoshi Mountain is high and people with poor physical strength can go to Sanhuangzhai, which is suitable for the elderly. After climbing down the mountain, go down from the back and take a black car for 20-40 yuan per person to the gate.

Please note that if you want to truly appreciate the scenery of Songshan, go to Shaoshi Mountain. I was misled by what was said in Fengfeng. I went to Sanhuangzhai, which is not the main peak. I hope it will be helpful to everyone.

I listened to the explanations of no less than 4-5 tour guides, but I only understood the general idea. Fortunately, there was Baidu Maps to explain. Baidu Maps is really amazing. We arrived at the Shaolin martial arts performance at 4:30 pm. There was only the last performance from 5 to 5:30 pm. I watched it 10 years ago and the scene was still very shocking. I suggest you still need to watch it. The two kids stared at the performance of the monks with their mouths wide open and their eyes wide open, stunned∑(O_O;)!

Shaolin Temple is the ancestral home of Chinese Zen Buddhism. Located at the foot of Mount Song, it is a long-renowned Buddhist temple in China and the birthplace of Shaolin martial arts.

Today, the Shaolin Temple is not only famous for its ancient Buddhist culture, but also well-known both at home and abroad for its exquisite and practical Shaolin martial arts.

The Shaolin Temple complex mainly includes the Permanent Residence Pagoda Forest, Chuzu Temple, Bodhidharma Cave, etc., which are typical Han temple styles.

The birthplace of Chinese martial arts! A very good place to come!

By Especially capable of fighting |

If you want to visit the park or enroll in a vocational college or go to a martial arts school, you can go. If you want to admire the martial arts from Shaolin or the abbot's shabby house, forget it. In my opinion, Shaolin is Shaolin Park.

By Good night Beijing |

The gate of Shaolin Temple is a bit disappointing, not quite the same as the number one temple in my mind. The archway of the gate is antique, I don’t know when it was built, and in the middle it emphasizes “the number one temple in the world”. I have seen too many number one in the world, such as Shanhaiguan is called the number one pass in the world, Baotu Spring is called the number one spring in the world, Huangshan is called the number one strange mountain in the world, Confucius Temple is called the number one temple in the world, White Horse Temple is called the number one temple in the world, Leshan Giant Buddha is called the number one Buddha in the world, Zhaozhou Bridge is called the number one bridge in the world, Taierzhuang is called the number one village in the world... Scenic spots are particularly fond of competing for the number one in the world, as if they cannot be called good attractions if they don’t summarize a few number one in the world for themselves. I feel like there is something fishy going on here.

Before coming here, I had read reviews on China-TravelNote, full of complaints about the serious commercialization, bad service attitude, expensive restaurant, monks selling calligraphy and paintings, fortune tellers... The most hateful ones are those who persuade people to donate money. You must donate money to pray for blessings, and if you don't donate, you are not allowed to worship Buddha, and they may even curse you. It's like venturing into a dangerous place.

In fact, the fame of Shaolin Temple does not only come from martial arts novels, but more importantly from the promotion of Jet Li's movie "Shaolin Temple" in the 1980s. This nationally popular movie made Shaolin Temple a household name. The temple was renovated only after it became extremely popular. So apart from the martial arts complex of Shaolin Temple, don't have too high expectations. This place is pretty similar to most temples in my country.

The Shaolin Temple scenic area is very large. The distance from the ticket gate to the Shaolin Temple is 2 kilometers. If you want to visit Chuzu Temple, Pagoda Forest and other places, it will probably take at least 5 hours.

The most famous temple in the world, with many Chinese and foreign tourists. You need to find a good angle and position to take pictures, otherwise many people will come in.

By Jay |

The ticket to Shaolin Temple is 100 yuan, which includes Arhat Hall, the main temple, the Pagoda Forest, Erzu Temple, Sanhuang Village, martial arts performances and other scenic spots. The scenic area is very large, and there are paid electric cars and cable cars. If you are physically fit, you don’t have to pay. As we had to go to Yuntaishan in the afternoon, after visiting the main temple and the Pagoda Forest, we took the electric car (25 yuan round trip) out of the scenic area. Mineral water in Shaolin Temple is 5 yuan a bottle. I didn’t see the monks asking you to burn incense and worship Buddha, but of course many people voluntarily burned incense and donated money!

There are a few historical inscriptions and ancient trees that are hundreds and thousands of years old. It is recommended to take a look around.
