There is a two-story building in the temple, where Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling spent their summers many times, and it is called "Chiang-Song Villa".

The more famous places in Xiangshan Temple include the Chiang-Soong Villa. Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling came here many times to escape the summer heat and hold military meetings. You can climb up the stone steps on the west side step by step. The steps are very steep and it takes a lot of physical strength to get up to the platform in front of the villa. To the west across the Yi River is the West Mountain Grottoes, and to the south is the East Mountain Grottoes. The scenery around the villa is charming and extremely quiet.

Passing through the entrance of Xiangshan Temple, you can see the silhouette of Chiang and Song's villa. In order to celebrate Chiang Kai-shek's 50th birthday, this two-story building was built in Longmen Xiangshan. Chiang Kai-shek and Song Meiling had spent the summer here many times. Chiang Kai-shek was very good at choosing places. This place is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and the scenery is excellent. Moreover, it had not been developed into a tourist attraction at that time. It was quiet and peaceful, with the artistic conception of "no one can be seen in the empty mountain, but the sound of people's voices can be heard". I had originally planned to visit Xiangshan Temple, but unexpectedly I didn't make it. Fortunately, when I was at the Xishan Grottoes, I took some photos of Xiangshan Temple from a distance across the Yishui River.

During the Qingming Festival in 2018, I spent two days in Luoyang. On April 5, I visited the Longmen Grottoes in the rain.

The grottoes scenic area includes the Geological Museum, Xishan Grottoes, Dongshan Grottoes, Xiangshan Temple and Baiyuan. Of course, the most famous one is Xishan Grottoes. No matter the scale, number, exquisiteness, etc. of the grottoes, they are the best among all the scenic spots, especially the Vairocana Buddha in Fengxian Temple. It is recommended to listen to the explanations when you visit, otherwise you will only see a large number of grottoes and Buddha statues.

Xiangshan Temple has a long history dating back more than 1,400 years. It is next to the Dongshan Grottoes and built on the mountain. It is exquisite in its cramped space. It is said that Bai Juyi, the "Xiangshan Layman", donated 600,000 to 700,000 strings of cash for the renovation. Wu Zetian once visited the temple to view the scenery and review memorials. For details, please refer to the online encyclopedia, which will no longer take up space. But now it is just a tourist attraction. It is very crowded when there are many people, so please pay attention to safety.

Looking at West Mountain from East Mountain is indeed the best angle.

The Hall of Nine Elders records the group "Nine Elders of Xiangshan" formed by Bai Juyi after he was over 70, together with the old men Hu Gao, Ji Jiao, Zheng Ju, Liu Zhen, Lu Zhen, Zhang Hun, and later centenarian Li Yuanshuang and 95-year-old Zen master Ruman. They created many poems praising Longmen landscape and Xiangshan Temple, and became the best spokespersons and promoters of Xiangshan Temple.

The 136-year-old Li Yuanshuang broke my mindset. Who says that old people can only sit on the couch and do nothing? At his age, he still travels in the mountains and writes poetry!

The temples are quite ordinary and the tourist traffic order is not good.

Xiangshan Temple and Bai Garden are both closely related to Bai Juyi. Bai Juyi, known as Xiangshan Jushi in his later years, lived on the top of Longmen Mountain. It was in such mountains and waters that the ancients cultivated their temperaments and expressed their feelings.
