🌟The stop we are most looking forward to is Taiping Street! 😝It seems that every city has a special snack street like this👀, and when it comes to Changsha, everyone’s mind must be filled with stinky tofu, big sausages, sugar-coated glutinous rice cakes and crayfish😋.

🌟First use stinky tofu to whet your appetite. You will find that stinky tofu is divided into black and white. The black one is more classic. It is almost hollow inside and the tofu is crispy on the outside. Use chopsticks to poke a hole in the middle and pour in the secret soup and ingredients. The fragrance is overflowing😍. That's right, the authentic Changsha stinky tofu does not have such a strong smell as imagined. It is a little lighter and has more of the aroma of frying splashes.

🌟We had white stinky tofu this time. The difference from the black one is that the white tofu has fresh tofu brain inside, which has a richer taste. The crispy outside and tender inside, accompanied by the overflowing chili sauce, also brought a slow sense of satisfaction and happiness😃. We wanted to eat the big sausage at first, but found that it was made of pure meat and was too big. After eating this, we couldn't eat anything else, so we gave up reluctantly. 😜

🌟Walk through Taiping Street and you will reach Pozi Street.

I went to Changsha at the end of 2017. The weather was 3 degrees. I arrived in Changsha alone in the afternoon. After putting down my luggage, I went to Taiping Old Street. This is a paradise for food. Like the ancient streets in other cities, it is a place where you can eat and walk. I mainly checked in at the "Changsha Stinky Tofu" store [Chen Dia Stinky Tofu], the "Old Changsha Big Sausage" store [Wenheyou], and drank a cup of fruit tea. I also went to a more popular store "Jasmine Tong Handmade Tea Cake Shop", which is especially suitable for taking pictures. The boss is also very good. Taking pictures at the door is free. Taiping Street at night is also very lively. Although the weather is very cold, there is a wave of enthusiasm on the street. I ate a lot and finally went to a small wonton.

Taiping Street is the street in Changsha that retains the most complete original street pattern. Similar to pedestrian streets in various places, it has become a commercial street after unified renovation. Merchants of various brands and characteristics have entered the street, making it a place for cultural, historical, leisure and entertainment. The alternation of the old and the new, the combination of the old and the new are all major features of this street. The street is not very wide, and it looks crowded before you even walk in.

If you come here to find Changsha's street food, it is a great place. If you come here to explore ancient sites, there is no need to come. The oldest monument in the street is the ancient well in Jia Yi's former residence. The ancient street looks a bit dirty and noisy, giving people a deliberately old feeling. Of course, this old feeling is the dilapidated feeling of the old street in the last century.

Taiping Street is the street in Changsha that retains the most complete original street pattern. Like other old streets, it is quaint and has a different style due to the footprints of history. There are Jia Yi's former residence (it was too late when I went there, so I just checked in at the door and took a tourist photo), Changhuai Well, Mingji Fanwang Mansion West Archway and other historical sites, as well as old houses with blue tiles and white walls. We strolled along this old street, strolling slowly. The old street is very straight and we are very slow. This pace of life is really to my liking. You can also eat authentic Changsha stinky tofu, sugar-coated baba and other local snacks here, and I was surprised to find roasted! Brain! Flower! How can I miss it, even if I am about to poop...

Taiping Street is one of the most famous pedestrian streets in Changsha. It is not very long and has many historical shops and cultural relics. The most famous monument is Jia Yi's former residence. The overall impression is that you can feel the leisure side of Changsha. The goods are everywhere and you can feel the vitality from the grassroots. In addition, you can experience the strong atmosphere of foodies in Changsha. The big sausages and stinky tofu are impressive. The only regret is that the management is not very good and vehicles occasionally pass through it.

Taiping Street in Changsha is the most intact old street in the city, but it has lost its ancient charm due to being too commercialized. Here is the former residence of Jia Yi, who served as the Grand Tutor of the King of Changsha in the Han Dynasty and is also a contemporary writer.

What would Mr. Jia think if he knew that the area in front of his house would later become a commercial street selling snacks?

At the other end of Taiping Street there is a Taipingli Cultural and Creative Space, which has saved some cultural reputation for this historic street.

Taiping Street is the street in Changsha Old City that has preserved the most complete original street pattern. It is 375 meters long and only 7 meters wide. The small green tiles, sloping roofs, white tile ridges, fire-proof walls, and wooden doors and windows on Taiping Street are the common features of the houses and shops in this area. There are often many artists holding old opera tools on the stage of Taiping Old Street to rehearse and sing operas. There will also be grand opera performances on holidays.

The street block is centered on Taiping Street, extending to Wuyi Avenue in the north, Jiefang West Road in the south, Weiguo Street in the west, and Sanxing Street and Santai Street in the east. The key areas are along Taiping Street, plus the West Archway, Majia Lane, Fujia Lane, Jinxian Street and Taifuli Street on both sides.

Jia Yi's former residence is located at Taiping Street, at the intersection of Taiping Street on the Jiefang West Road side. From 177 BC to 174 BC, Jia Yi, a famous political commentator, thinker and writer in the Western Han Dynasty, lived here and served as the Grand Tutor of the King of Changsha.

A pedestrian street in the center of Changsha, mainly with various snacks, it is very popular even on weekday nights. There are queues at all the milk tea shops and stinky tofu shops along the way, even if they are not the Cha Yan Yue Se brand. There are all kinds of massages, bars, and second-hand shops in the alleys next to the main road.

Anyone who comes to Changsha must visit Taiping Street. It is not only a popular check-in spot for internet celebrities, but also a gathering place for various business models. It is already mid-December, and it has just rained here. Changsha seems cold and damp, and people on the street are wearing winter clothes to avoid the cold. However, Taiping Street is still bustling with people at night, and almost all the shops on the street are open for business, showing a prosperous scene.

Taiping Street (Taiping Ancient Street) in the center of Changsha is the most prosperous area.

This street is short but quite lively, filled with the atmosphere of old Changsha. There are countless Changsha snacks and souvenirs, as well as a very special stinky tofu museum and many small shops to visit.

This is the street in Changsha Old Town that retains the most complete original street layout. But in my opinion, the old streets all over the country are just like this, with artistic decoration, popular snacks, and Yiwu goods. I walked from beginning to end and hardly stopped.

By Rise from Fire |

Taiping Street is the street in Changsha Ancient City that has preserved the original street pattern most completely. After renovation, the historical and cultural district of Taiping Street not only preserves cultural relics and modern historical sites such as Jia Yi's former residence, Changhuai Well, the former site of the West Archway of Mingji Prince's Palace, the former site of the Tongjin Society of the Xinhai Revolution, and the former site of Sizheng Society, but also injects vitality into time-honored brands with a long history such as Qianyisheng Grain Store, Lisheng Salt Store, Dongtingchun Teahouse, and Yichunyuan Teahouse. But at night, this place becomes a thorough specialty snack street, and it is extremely popular.

The snack pedestrian street is so crowded that it is rare to get stuck in the middle.

Pozi Street is a special food street, where the Fire Palace is located. If you go at the wrong time, it will be a little deserted. It should be more lively at night. Taiping Street is similar to many special ancient streets, with various quaint special shops lined up, and tourists are bustling and lively.

By Youshan |

Taiping Street is still crowded at night, full of the atmosphere of the market, full of neon signs, quite interesting. You may find unexpected delicacies in the alleys you walk into. We thought that we lived in Taiping Street and could go shopping anytime, so we did not stay in Taiping Street and set off for a farther destination. As a result, this is the thing I regret most about my trip to Changsha. I did not have time to go shopping and eat snacks in Taiping Street. The schedule was too tight later and I did not have time to go shopping in Taiping Street. I just came and left in a hurry.

I have been to many ancient streets like this, and there are many similar ancient town streets in my hometown, with bluestone slabs, wooden doors, and glazed tiles. The novelty is not too strong. This street is only three or four hundred meters long. It is not an exaggeration to say that it is a delicious street. There are all kinds of Changsha specialty snacks on both sides, such as stinky tofu, big sausages, fried skewers, milk tea shops, hot pot restaurants, and naturally there are many tourists. The quaint alleys are the tranquility in the noisy city, and the uneven quaint bluestone roads are a true portrayal of history.

There will be a lot of people traveling during the National Day holiday. It is recommended to go to the snack street at noon and in the afternoon to taste the food. There will be much fewer people than at night. I only ate some of the food recommended online and was satisfied. It is more in line with the taste of people in Northeast China.

Wenheyou big sausage, black classic stinky tofu, Mama tea's Hongxiutianxiang is really delicious,

I personally think the blueberry jelly from Grandma Guo’s Food Shop is better than the mint flavor…

The pork patties with preserved vegetables are slightly sweet, and there are Lao Da fries. Hu Ji Zha Zha Zha is similar to the snacks of Wenheyou Fried Society, which are all kinds of delicious fried skewers. Hu Ji Zha Zha Zha does not open until after 3 pm. I came back in the evening and went to Wenheyou Fried Society for a midnight snack. I think the food in Changsha tastes pretty good.

We arrived at Taiping Street soon after getting off the bus, and then we started eating. After all, we hadn't eaten properly that day. Then, there were too many things to eat, and we ate from one stall after another. Big meat skewers, stinky tofu, lard noodles, pickled mustard greens cakes, etc.

By Renjing |

We ate all kinds of food when we got in. Cream sticks and stinky tofu are must-try. I didn't get to eat pork patties with pickled mustard greens and shabu-shabu shabu. I went too late. I'll make up for it next time I go back to my hometown.

It's actually just an old street. There are so many people. I don't think there's much to see. It's mostly tourists. I guess locals don't go there. Taiping Old Street is a place that sells a lot of tourist souvenirs. I bought a set of Changsha postcards there. They're pretty good. There are also many petty shops, but taking photos is not allowed. The attitude of the shop assistants is fierce. Hum, I don't buy anything. There is Jia Yi's former residence in Taiping Street. Those who like historical figures can go and have a look, but it's not open at night.

I went to Taiping Street in the evening on a business trip to try the authentic black classic stinky tofu. It tasted great, and I brought some packaged ones back. The dried plum cake tasted a little sweet, which I didn't like very much. There was also a long queue at Zhihu Tea, so I bought a cup to try. It was not bad. There were many local brands and the service was very good.

By Don't even think about it |

It is definitely a check-in destination that foodies cannot miss. The whole street is full of food, including classic black stinky tofu, Wenheyou stinky tofu, big sausages, pork patties with preserved vegetables, Cha Yan Yue Se, skewers, sugar-coated baba, jelly, etc. This is also my favorite place. It is so enjoyable to eat and walk at the same time.

Taiping Street is a historical district in Changsha. The current commercial development is a bit like Beijing's Nanluo and Shanghai's Tianzifang snacks and handicrafts. It takes an hour to walk from south to north, stop and eat, and have enough.

By Greedy cat |

Taiping Old Street is very close to Fire Palace, and inside are authentic local snacks such as "Old Changsha Big Sausage, Cheese Potatoes, Stinky Tofu, Sugar-coated Baba, etc." There are no special recommended shops for these snacks, so just go for the one with the longest queue.

By 기린 |

Nowadays, every city has a historical and cultural district, and Changsha is no exception. We went to Taiping Street for a quick tour, visited Jia Yi's former residence, and saw the restored ancient houses on the street, but we didn't feel satisfied. Compared with those historical and cultural cities, Changsha's historical heritage is not that deep, and there are more modern things. If you like to explore the ancient and the secluded, you can go and have a look, but don't expect too much. If you like Changsha's special snacks, it is worth a visit.

There are many delicious foods, and the Changsha grilled red sausage is pretty good.

There are many interesting shops to browse, all at very affordable prices.

By Flying sheep |

This is a must-visit ancient street in every city. It is especially crowded on holidays and nights. There are also traffic police on site to maintain order. People can only leave but not enter. There are all kinds of snacks on both sides, the most popular ones are stinky tofu and sugar-coated baba. I have eaten stinky tofu for three days in Hunan, but I still think the black classic stinky tofu is the best. The sugar-coated baba in the alley turned left from the black classic stinky tofu shop with the longest queue on Taiping Street is very delicious. It is run by an old couple.

Before coming to Changsha, I had great fantasies about Changsha, first of all, food. This place is indeed in a superior geographical location, near the subway entrance, easy to find, the small street is not long, and there are food shops everywhere. I laughed before coming here, I looked at the guide, which ones are delicious, and basically went to those. As a Chaoshan person who can eat slightly spicy but just has oral ulcers, the following are the delicacies that I want to eat a second time. Chendia sausage, dried plum and pork pie, Madiel popsicle original flavor, local Changsha powder and Wenheyou stinky tofu. I have only eaten this big sausage, the meat is relatively fresh, you can order it not spicy, and it will not be over-fried. The pork pie is next to his house, it is really delicious! After all, there is no such thing in other places, and it is also quite special. I thought it would be a thick crust, but it turned out to be thin and crispy, with not much filling in the middle so it will not be greasy, and it tastes fragrant and has a hint of sweetness. I will never forget it after eating it. A friend from Northeast China said that their unpackaged popsicles sell for 5 yuan, and here they sell for 8 yuan with multiple packaging bags, but the milk flavor is really strong. Wenheyou's stinky tofu is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with coriander, chili and mashed garlic sauce, not salty and fragrant. You can skip the Luo Ji that has a long queue, it is quite salty, and it is also served with simple pickled mustard and chili. The stinky tofu is not too crispy and the taste is average. In the end, my favorite is this bowl of Changsha rice noodles. It is delicious, different from the rice noodles I have eaten in my hometown and Guangzhou. It has the unique flavor of this city, with plenty of ingredients and good taste. If you have the chance, you can try it! As for Wenheyou Lobster Restaurant, you can go or not, because it is really expensive and the portion is so small! I didn't say it was particularly delicious or unpalatable, it was just average, the crayfish was okay, and the bayberry juice that was said to be particularly delicious on the Internet should be liked by people who don't like sour drinks. It's not particularly sour, but I like sour, so I think it's just average.
