Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

I went to Zhangjiajie City on May Day. I can't complain about Zhangjiajie Forest Park in Wulingyuan because my father and I felt very uncomfortable during the ten hours in the park. It was expected that there would be more people on May Day, but the scenic spot did not take flow control measures, and the transportation and services in the scenic spot could not keep up. It was difficult to walk after the ticket gate when entering the park. The queue for the sightseeing bus to Tianzi Mountain Cableway took more than an hour, and it was like a big fight when getting on the bus. Going to Yuanjiajie was even more terrifying. I waited in line for more than two hours. The bus to Yuanjiajie had to go through a winding mountain road, and I was shaken like bacon in the car for 40 minutes. My son is a soccer player and usually has very good physical strength, but he couldn't stand the long queue and the road conditions, and vomited in the car... After visiting Yuanjiajie, it was already 4:30 in the afternoon. We also booked the evening performance of "Fox Fairy of Tianmen", so we wanted to go back to the city as soon as possible, so we could only take the Bailong Elevator. We queued for another hour from the scenic spot bus to the ladder, and we still queued at the ladder scenic spot until 8 o'clock in the evening before going down the mountain. But we had to take a tourist bus from the foot of Yuanjiajie Mountain to the landmark gate, and of course we continued to queue, and the journey took half an hour. In this way, we arrived at the entrance of the scenic spot at 9 o'clock in the evening! ! ! It was 10 o'clock when we returned to the city, and the performance had already ended... I said so much because of the large number of people on May Day, but when it comes to the scenery of Tianzi Mountain and Yuanjiajie, the main attractions of the forest park, it is really ordinary. I have no desire to see it again after seeing it for a few more times. There are definitely some characteristics, but it is not worth the 225 ticket price at all! In addition, the 72 yuan cableway and 65 yuan Bailong Elevator are even more unpleasant! I just had to take it to save time. Don't mention that this ticket is valid for four days. I regretted it half an hour after going up the mountain. Each attraction is not enough to make people enjoy themselves. The attractions are too far apart, and the car ride is long and tiring. Although I didn't go to Jinbianxi and Shilihualang, we have traveled all over Guangxi and Guizhou before, and there are a lot of such scenery. I really don't recommend coming to Wulingyuan Forest Park, especially after reading the amazing online reviews. You will definitely regret it if you come. There are too many beautiful rivers and mountains in China. If you want to see mountains, I recommend climbing Huashan. The cable car at Xifeng is really cool. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but the riding experience is also great! Going up the mountain depends on your own legs to conquer each peak and enjoy the scenery of each peak. This kind of play is interesting. Although Zhangjiajie Forest Park disappointed me, it is still very good compared to Tianmen Mountain. The people in Zhangjiajie are very kind, and the Hunan cuisine is also to my taste, so I will come to Zhangjiajie again in the future and take my wife and youngest son to Tianmen Mountain again to watch the "Fox Fairy of Tianmen" that I missed.

I think the shooting time of Zhangjiajie Forest Park is very particular. We arrived at the scenic spot at 9 o'clock in the morning, and it was already 10 o'clock when we got here. The photos were basically backlit. So although it was spectacular that day, most of the pictures are not very usable.

After being out for such a long time, it was the first time I saw so many people. It is indeed a scenic spot. There were many tour groups coming and going, and it was not easy to take a photo without people. The rhythm was very important at this time. I took a few photos in the gaps between the tour groups. I realized that sunny days are the most common in Zhangjiajie, and it is lucky to see foggy days. If you want to see the floating stones in Avatar, you have to wait until it is foggy.

We spent 2 days in total. I will tell you about the route and transportation we took during those 2 days.

Day 1: Forest Park Ticket Station (student ticket 113 ¥, need to log in to China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center website to prove) - Dayang Bar Square - Golden Whip Stream (very beautiful, all on foot) - Shui Rao Si Men (take eco-friendly car 0 ¥) - Tian Gou Wang Yue (take sightseeing tram) - Shili Art Gallery (walk up to Tianmen Mountain, take eco-friendly car down the mountain as it was getting dark) - Wulingyuan Ticket Station - nearby hotel (there is Sanxiaguo nearby).

Day 2: Wulingyuan Ticket Station (take the cable car) - Tianzi Mountain Upper Station (the scenery is super beautiful in fog, take the eco-friendly car) - He Long Park (change to the eco-friendly car) - Yuanjiajie (The First Bridge in the World and the Mihun Terrace are very nice) - Yangjiajie (walk all the way up the mountain first and then down the mountain) - Wulang worships Buddha - One Step to Heaven - Lingshi Biting Tree - Sky Corridor - Kitten Fishing - Yangjiajie Cableway Lower Station (take the eco-friendly car later) - Longfeng Temple - Oxygen Bar Square - Wulingyuan.

The National Forest Park is very large, with strange peaks and rocks standing one after another, colorful and fresh air. The scenery at the foot of the mountain is completely different from that on the mountain. There are streams at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain is beautiful and spectacular. There are many small scenic spots. If you are not familiar with the route, you can ask a local guide to avoid taking the same route and wasting time and energy. If you have enough time, it is still more brain-wracking and physically demanding to explore according to the map. There are too many people in the scenic area. This time I traveled with my parents. Considering the scattered attractions, I chose the local Zhangjiajie Dream Free Travel Private Customization, a flexible travel method, which was also recommended by my sister. Xiao Chen patiently asked about the needs and finally formulated a plan that fully met the needs of my travel. The scenic spot arrangement was planned reasonably. I felt very relaxed and comfortable in three days. The scenery and people of Zhangjiajie are a place that makes me want to come again in the future. I won’t leave the contact information. You can search it yourself, which is a bit like advertising.

Winter is mostly cloudy, so the scenery is discounted, but the advantage is that the ticket price is discounted (valid for 4 days) and there are fewer people. Basically, there will be no crowds.

Transportation: There are three entrances, from the central bus station to the forest park (12 yuan), Wulingyuan (14 yuan), and Tianzi Mountain (17 yuan, you can take the scenic bus directly to the mountain). To get to Tianzi Mountain Pass, you must arrive at the bus station before 7 o'clock. Why? The earlier the faster. The bus I took took 95 minutes, just in time to catch the scenic bus that went up the mountain before 9 o'clock. There are accommodation options outside the three entrances.

Itinerary: When you go to Huangshizhai, the big loop line is closed and only the small loop line is open. If you take the cable car up and down, the big loop line usually takes 2 to 3 hours to visit.

My itinerary is day 1 Ten-mile Gallery - Golden Whip Stream - Huangshizhai day 2 Tianzi Mountain - Yuanjiajie - Yangjiajie (car up and walk down) All the major attractions are visited in Zhangjiajie City. If you want to visit all the attractions, it will take at least 3 days. Please refer to the travel notes for details.

There are many monkeys here. Although they look cute, they are very greedy. You must keep your backpack tightly closed, otherwise the monkeys will come and grab your things as soon as they see them. They are faster than you can imagine. Of course, safety comes first, and things are trivial. It is best to buy a non-slip shoe chain to ensure safety when walking on mountain roads.

Yangjiajie and Yuanjiajie are the main attractions of this visit to Zhangjiajie Forest Park. Among them, the Qiankun Pillar and the No. 1 Bridge in the World are my favorites. The Qiankun Pillar is the filming location of Avatar. The stone pillar is particularly thick, and you can look down vertically from a relatively close distance, which is a very good experience. The No. 1 Bridge in the World is also a great wonder. I think the 3,000 strange peaks here are the same. You will feel a little aesthetic fatigue after looking at them for a long time.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is located in Zhangjiajie City in the northwest of Hunan Province. It was approved as China's first national forest park in 1982. In 1992, it was listed as a World Natural Heritage by the United Nations for its unique quartz sandstone peaks. The great contributor to his fame is Mr. Wu Guanzhong. In the 1980s, Zhangjiajie was still unknown at that time. The old man came across this beautiful scenery on his way back from Zhangjiajie Farm. He was amazed and wrote a beautiful article "Raised in the Boudoir Unknown to the World". Zhangjiajie, the dazzling pearl lost in western Hunan, also came into the world. So it is said that things in the world are accidental and inevitable. It is essential to strengthen oneself, but it is more important to be favored by opportunities. People often say, "There are Bole in the world, and then there are swift horses. There are often swift horses, but Bole is not often available." The premise for gold to shine is that someone digs and appreciates it. The grace of knowing and meeting is valuable only when you know and meet, and you can be grateful.



At night we stayed at an inn called Yunqi Shanfang on Xibu Street in Wulingyuan. It was very convenient for shopping here, and there were many special snacks from Zhangjiajie. It was a very pleasant trip.

Overall it was pretty good, but unfortunately the weather was not very good when we went there. There was too much fog in the morning and no sun in the afternoon. We did not book tickets in advance and found a private tour guide because we were road idiots. In fact, I think the most cost-effective way is to book tickets one day in advance for 118 yuan for 4 days, and then find the way by yourself. If it doesn't work, just follow other tour groups quietly. There are still a lot of people. The scenery is still good to feel the nature. The tour guide said there are about 8,000 monkeys, but we didn't see that many. The monkeys are cute, but don't touch them randomly. If you are caught, you need to get vaccinated, and don't take things randomly. The monkeys will think they are food and grab them. There are many cable cars in the park, which cost 75 yuan each time. Students, the elderly, etc. can get a half-price discount. It is not recommended to take all of them. We played all the major attractions and took a cable car plus a sightseeing elevator. You can take a sightseeing bus in the Ten-Li Gallery. I personally recommend taking a bus in and walking out, because it is more tiring to go uphill. There were many vendors inside, selling all kinds of fruit and specialty products, and there was also a pavilion for praying, but I forgot what it was called. It cost money to pray for peace, 100 yuan a year, but they would not force me to pay. I told him that I had arranged the funds and that he could not afford it, and his face immediately darkened, and then he said it was okay.

Although the tickets are expensive, it is worth it. I hope you can spare at least two days to enjoy it. In the first afternoon, you can visit Jinbianxi, walk around, and absorb negative ions, which are dozens of times more than in the city. On the second day, visit Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie and Tianzi Mountain. On the third day, if you want to go, you can also go to Huangshizhai, which I didn't go to.

The forest park is quite large and there are many ways to play. It takes three days to complete the tour. Most tourists follow a tour guide, entering from the west and exiting from the south. Self-driving is not recommended.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is located in Wulingyuan District, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province. In August 1988, Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Tourist Area was listed as a national key scenic spot; in December 1992, it was listed on the World Natural Heritage List by the United Nations due to its unique quartz sandstone peaks. In February 2004, it was listed as a World Geopark; in 2007, it was included in China's first batch of national 5A tourist attractions, with a total area of 4,810 hectares.

The natural scenery of Wulingyuan Tourist Area is known for its strange peaks, secluded valleys and beautiful forests. There are more than 3,000 strange peaks, which are lifelike and magnificent, resembling people, animals, tools and objects. It is known as "3,000 strange peaks and 800 beautiful waters". The main scenic spots include Huangshizhai, Jinbianxi, Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie, etc.

The route of the scenic area's eco-friendly vehicles is shown in the figure below. In addition to the eco-friendly vehicle stations, I have also marked the general location of the scenic spots. There is no additional charge for the eco-friendly vehicles, but there are additional charges for the cableway, Bailong Elevator, and Shilihualang sightseeing tram.

Based on actual travel experience, the following two-day tour route is recommended:

Day 1 Wujiayu Ticket Station (Wulingyuan Landmark Gate) - Take the eco-friendly bus to Shilihualang Station and visit Shilihualang - Take the eco-friendly bus at Shilihualang Station to Tianzishan Cableway Lower Station - Take the cable car to Tianzishan Cableway Upper Station, then take the bus to Helong Park Station to visit Helong Park, Tianzi Pavilion, Fairy Flowers, Yubi Peak, etc. (- Take the bus from Helong Park Station to Dianjiangtai Station to visit Dianjiangtai - Take the bus from Dianjiangtai Station to Shentangwan Station to visit Shentangwan - Take the bus from Shentangwan Station to Daguantai Station to visit Yibunanxing and Shenji Pecking, etc. - Take the bus from Daguantai Station to Sanchakou Station, walk about ten minutes after getting off the bus to Dingxiangrong Village, and stay in Dingxiangrong Village at night.

On the second day, Ding Xiangrong walked to Sanchakou Station to take a bus, got off at Wulongzhai Station, visited Yangjiajie (Wulongzhai - Tianbo Mansion - One Step to Heaven - Sky Corridor) - took a bus from Wulongzhai Station to No. 1 Bridge Under Heaven Station, visited Yuanjiajie (No. 1 Bridge Under Heaven, the filming location of Hallelujah Mountain in Avatar - Qiankun Pillar, Mihun Terrace, etc.) - took a bus to Bailong Elevator Upper Station, took the cable car to Bailong Elevator Lower Station, then took a bus to Shuiraosimen Station, visited Jinbianxi - walked all the way to the Forest Park Ticket Station (Luogu Tower), and stayed nearby at night.

A reminder to friends who want to visit Zhangjiajie: if you want to visit the mountains, you must check the weather. It is best not to book a time too far in advance. The climate in the mountains is changeable, foggy all year round, and the sun is not visible most of the time. You must choose a time period with many sunny days, so that you will not be like us, who did not see the true face hidden under the mysterious veil until the end.

The most anticipated is the filming location of Avatar, a fantasy world shrouded in clouds and mist, with floating mountains, and looming in and out of sight.

The weather was good, no sun, no rain, and the climate was slightly cool. In front of the observation deck, there were layers of clouds and mist. After waiting for a while, the clouds slowly dispersed, and within a few minutes, they gradually dispersed again. I just felt regretful and emotional. But then it became clear again.

[Wulingyuan] is 20 kilometers north of the city, including Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, Suoxiyu Nature Reserve, and Yangjiajie Nature Reserve. Zhangjiajie, as commonly known as it is, also refers to here. The "Hallelujah Mountain", the filming location of Avatar, is located here.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park refers to the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, which includes Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, Laowuchang, Huangshizhai, Jinbianxi, Shilihualang, etc. The second photo is the square in front of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park ticket station.

Before going to Zhangjiajie, you must first understand "Zhangjiajie"! Zhangjiajie is a prefecture-level city in Hunan Province, with jurisdiction over 2 urban districts (Yongding District, Wulingyuan District) and 2 counties (Cili County, Sangzhi County). At present, several scenic spots have been developed in Zhangjiajie. Among them, the "Zhangjiajie" we usually call is actually called "Zhangjiajie National Forest Park", which is also the earliest developed scenic spot in Zhangjiajie. The main attractions in the scenic area include Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie, Daguantai, Laowuchang and Tianzi Mountain. There are 3 main entrances and exits to the scenic area, including the Forest Park Ticket Station in the lower left corner, the Wulingyuan Ticket Station in the lower right corner, and the Tianzi Mountain Ticket Station on the top.

One day was sunny, the next day was rainy, and we even saw clouds and fog. We managed to catch up pretty well. But the scenery was not as good as the legend said. Two to two and a half days was enough. My favorite was the natural Great Wall. (Here are some amazing pictures that helped me plan my route)

You must spend two to three days in the mountains to visit the main attractions. The transportation on the mountain is very convenient. There are shuttle buses and you don't need to buy tickets separately. The mobile phone signal is not very good in some places, and the navigation is not working.

The most deceptive scenic spot, the wildest city after Hainan, Zhangjiajie, see the picture. The starting price of taxis in the whole city is not told to you. The driver tore off the label. I lived there for three days before I knew it was 5 yuan. They asked for 10 yuan for a few hundred meters. Even if you take a Didi driver, he dares to pay 10 yuan in front of you. It's funny. A deceptive city. The forest park is a scam. If you are not retired and have spare money and are easy to be cheated, don't come. Ten thousand times you can't compare to Tianmen Mountain. Haha

The scenery is picturesque. Some scenes can only be experienced in person, and taking photos is impossible.

There are just too many tourists, so the shuttle bus is a bit overwhelmed (although it also leaves one by one)

The natural scenery is magnificent, and it is a natural oxygen bar. When you go to the scenic area, you have to breathe in deeply. The air quality is really good. I feel that I have earned it. The transportation in the scenic area is very convenient. Of course, these transportation fees are in addition to the tickets, which is about 5600 yuan. During holidays, you really wait with your life.

We flew from Wuhan to Zhangjiajie the night before, and planned to start our trip from Zhangjiajie Forest Park the next day. In 2009, the two provincial governments were promoting tourism, and the air tickets from Wuhan to Zhangjiajie were free. We signed up for a small tour group, and it was relatively worry-free to play for two days. Moreover, the scenery of Zhangjiajie was beyond our expectations, with strange mountains and a different world. Although many years have passed, I still remember it vividly.

Zhangjiajie is really beautiful, but it is also very tiring. I suggest not going there during holidays as there are too many people.

To see the mountains in Zhangjiajie, you need good weather. During the special holiday of the Spring Festival, the weather cannot be chosen. It depends on your character. We planned a two-day tour of Zhangjiajie Forest Park. We entered from the Forest Park ticket station early on the second day of the Chinese New Year, visited Jinbianxi-Bailong Ladder-Yuanjiajie-Yangjiajie, and then took an environmentally friendly car to the Sanchakou Environmental Protection Station. Contact the owner of the Laowuchang Farmhouse Inn to pick us up. Laowuchang also has exclusive attractions such as Sky Pastoral and God Soldiers Gathering, and you can also overlook the Bailong Ladder. It is recommended to stay here. The next day, we visited Tianzi Mountain Helong Park. It was raining and foggy. Nothing could be seen from the viewing platforms. The camera was not taken out. I chose to walk down the mountain next to Tianzi Pavilion. At the foot of the mountain was the Ten-Li Gallery. The fog under the mountain was much smaller, and it was surrounded by clouds and mist, like a fairyland. Today, I was finally comforted. The Ten-Li Gallery took a little more than an hour to walk around, and then took an environmentally friendly car out of the Wulingyuan landmark gate to end the tour of Zhangjiajie Forest Park.

I joined the Zhangjiajie Phoenix route of the Green Team in 2010. It is now called Wulingyuan Scenic Area. The scenery is beautiful, but the management is a little worse. I heard that the customs are not good, but it is still worth recommending.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is divided into Huangshizhai, Jinbianxi, Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie, Tianzi Mountain and Suoxiyu areas. It is a core attraction that must be visited when visiting Zhangjiajie.

Yuanjiajie is the most beautiful, where the "Hallelujah Mountain" in Avatar is located, and the Mihun Terrace is an ideal viewing point. Yangjiajie is mainly characterized by primitive natural beauty, high mountains and narrow roads, and is famous for its "danger", which is deeply loved by backpackers and explorers.

The scenery is very beautiful. I had seen pictures before and thought that the mountains in Zhangjiajie might be just a little bit peculiar. But when I saw the peaks standing in front of me with my own eyes, I felt that this is by no means a simple "viewing of pillars from a different angle". I was really shocked by the wonders of nature. No matter how beautiful the photos are, they cannot reflect the magnificence and special sense of layering of the scenery.

There are two ticket collection points in the forest park, one at the entrance of the forest park and the other at the entrance of Wulingyuan. If you don’t bring a thick coat, sun protection clothing, or sun protection hat, you can buy them in the big square in front of the entrance, and you can bargain. You can also hire a tour guide at the door, who will help you plan your itinerary and introduce the attractions. It is said that you can also avoid the trouble of queuing for eco-friendly cars and cable cars. After entering the scenic area, one side of the road is full of fir trees (?), and the other side is a mountain with many stone tablets inscribed with celebrity inscriptions. Walk along the road for 5-10 minutes to the big oxygen bar square. Here you can choose to take an eco-friendly car and a special cable car to Yangjiajie, climb Huangshizhai (you can also go up the mountain by eco-friendly car and cable car), or walk along Jinbianxi.

Although the mountains and rivers in the forest park are beautiful, it is still recommended to find a tour guide in the scenic area and listen to the stories about these scenes along the way. Otherwise, it is easy to get aesthetic fatigue, because the big rocks look bigger when you look at them up close and from a distance.

We thought we could see the scenery from the elevator, but after looking at the concrete wall for 80% of the time, we only saw the scenery for a short time.

The scenery of Yuanjiajie is average, maybe it's aesthetic fatigue. When there is no cloud and fog, it is a certain distance from the promotional photos. I passed by the Avatar filming base and lined up to see the most disappointing bridge in the world! However, the scenery of Yubi Peak is good.

This was a trip to Zhangjiajie organized by my company in 2011. I went with a tour group, but it was a rip-off. I didn't visit any attractions. I thought it was just a national forest park, but there are actually Yuanjiajie and Tianmen Mountain. I didn't know how to read guides online before. Zhangjiajie is beautiful, and I want to go there a second time.

They can be bought online in advance, which is very convenient. I feel that the park is poorly managed, there are too few signboards, there are no staff in many places, and the queues are in a mess. It is hard to imagine how terrible it is during the peak season... The scenery is really great. We played for three days, Tianzi Mountain on the first day, Yuanjiajie on the second day, and Jinbianxi on the third day. We experienced the Tianzi Mountain Cableway and Bailong Elevator, and the experience was good.
