Dazhao Wuliang Temple

The temple belongs to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism (the Yellow Sect of Lamaism) and is the earliest Lamaist temple built in Hohhot.
The building adopts the form of Han-style temples. The main buildings include the mountain gate, the Heavenly King Hall, the Buddha Hall, etc. The Sutra Hall and the Buddha Hall are connected together and are collectively called the "Great Hall".
The temple’s silver Buddha, dragon sculptures, and murals are “three must-sees”; in the main hall of the temple, you can see a “Sakyamuni statue” made of 30,000 taels of pure silver.
After entering the mountain gate, you can walk along the central axis to easily tour the entire temple.

Dazhao Temple is not only a Buddhist holy place, but also an important tourist attraction in Inner Mongolia.

Since the Dazhao Temple adopts the traditional Chinese central axis symmetrical layout design, after entering the Dazhao Temple, tourists only need to walk forward along the central axis of the temple, generally entering from the left side of the temple and exiting from the right side, and they can easily tour the entire temple.

The architecture of Dazhao Temple adopts the traditional Chinese style of Han-style temples with red bricks and green tiles. It mainly includes the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Nine-Roomed Building, the Sutra Hall, the Buddha Hall, etc. It is similar to most temples in China, such as Jinshan Temple, Lingyin Temple, Shaolin Temple, etc. The architectural style can be said to be inherited from the same source.

In the 14th year of the Wanli reign, Nepalese craftsmen built a silver Buddha. The murals in the temple depicting various scenes of heaven, earth and hell have not faded to this day. The characters in the paintings are lifelike, and one cannot help but admire the wisdom of the ancient Chinese. This has also allowed the Dazhao Temple to be passed down for thousands of years.

Dazhao Temple, built in the Ming Dynasty, is a Tibetan Buddhist temple with a ticket price of 35 yuan. In addition to the exquisite Buddha statues in the temple, the Eight Sakyamuni Pagodas outside the temple are also worth seeing. The visiting time is no less than 1 hour. It is recommended to enter at the opening time during major holidays to avoid crowds.

Before coming here, I had no idea about the Jokhang Temple in Hohhot. I only knew that there was a Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. After a closer look, I found that the Jokhang Temple in Tibet and the Jokhang Temple in Hohhot are not the same "Zhao". I will go to Tibet next month and visit the Jokhang Temple there. After coming here, I found that the 35 yuan ticket is really a good deal. Whether it is the scale of the temple or the collections in the temple, it is a treasure-level value for money. It can definitely be called the first city card of Hohhot!

Dazhao Temple is located outside the south gate of Guihua City in the past. It was once the "family temple" of Emperor Kangxi, or the "imperial temple" or "royal temple". It was once the earliest, highest-ranking and most influential temple in Hohhot. In the 14th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, at the invitation of Sengge Duling Khan, the son of Altan Khan, the third Dalai Lama came to Hohhot and held a grand ceremony to consecrate the silver Buddha of Dazhao Temple. Since then, Dazhao Temple has become famous. "Zhao" means temple in Tibetan. In the fifth year of Chongde in the Qing Dynasty, Huang Taiji ordered Tumed Dutong Lugechukur to renovate Dazhao Temple. After completion, it was named "Wuliang Temple", which further improved the status of Dazhao Temple. The temple covers an area of about 30,000 square meters. The temple faces north and south, and the main building layout is "Galan Seven Halls". Along the central axis, there are archways, mountain gates, Heavenly King Hall, Bodhi Hall, Mahavira Hall, Sutra Library, East and West Side Halls, and wing rooms.

Dazhao Wuliang Temple is a large Tibetan Buddhist temple in China. It belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Sect) and is the earliest Lamaist temple built in Hohhot. It has a wide range of influence in the Mongolian region. In Tibetan, "Zhao" means temple, and "Dazhao" means "big temple". During the Qing Dynasty, Hohhot was called "Zhao City". There were so many Zhao temples in the city that it was difficult to count them. There is a saying among the people that there are "seven major Zhaos, eight major Zhaos, and seventy-two Mianmian Zhaos", and Dazhao Wuliang Temple ranks first among the seven major Zhaos. In the temple, the silver Buddha, dragon carvings, and murals constitute the "three wonders" of Dazhao Wuliang Temple.

There are monks in Dazhao Temple who are engaged in religious activities, so you don't need to take photos in places where monks are active or where there are monks on duty. The eight pagodas in Dazhao Temple are very distinctive. It feels like the style of Tibetan Buddhism.

Dazhao Temple is located in Dazhaoqian Street, Yuquan District, Hohhot. It is the earliest Lamaist temple in Inner Mongolia. The "Sakyamuni statue" in the center of the main hall is made of 30,000 taels of pure silver, the huge painting on the wall depicting Kangxi's private visit to Mingyue Tower, and a pair of golden wooden dragons coiled on wooden pillars in front of the silver Buddha are called three wonders. In addition, there are Ming Xuande furnace, dragon and phoenix peacock umbrella used by Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, eight pearls and eight treasures palace lanterns bestowed by the emperor, Kangxi's "Long Live Dragon Plate", gilded God of Wealth bestowed by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, thangkas of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, various ritual instruments and masks used in religious activities and other precious cultural relics, which are worth seeing.

After breakfast, we took the bus to visit the Dazhao Temple. There were Mongolian costumes for rent in the Dazhao Temple Square. I ran over excitedly and rented three sets. The three generations of us immediately became the most beautiful group in the entire square.

Dazhao Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist temple belonging to the Gelugpa sect. I know very little about Tibetan Buddhism. I visited with the intention of learning and also admired the exquisite architecture. Dazhao Temple is very large, and we visited for more than two hours and still felt that we had not had enough.

[Actual test] You can enter directly with a tour guide certificate.

It is recommended that you walk twice if you have time, once listening to the explanation and once walking on your own. The explanation will help you understand more instead of just looking around, but you will only visit a few main halls.

There are two places whose interiors have not been modified later, and the others are newly built. One is the Great Hall, which is very shocking! There are several treasures from the Kangxi and Qianlong periods. The murals are very original and exquisite, but they have fallen off and oxidized. The second is the Naichun Temple on the west side. The explanation here will not bring you here, so you need to visit it yourself.

I hope everyone will not take photos or touch the interior, as oxidation is destructive to cultural relics.

Dazhao Temple is the earliest Yellow Sect temple built in Hohhot. It is also one of the large temples built by Mongolians in the early days of converting to Yellow Sect in Mongolia, only later than Meidaizhao Temple. It has a wide range of influence in Mongolia. It was built in 1580 AD. It is the earliest Lamaist temple built in Hohhot and one of the few temples in Mongolia that does not have a living Buddha.

It is not recommended to enter, the ticket is 35, and it is still under maintenance. I didn't see the murals or the silver Buddha. It's better to go directly to Saishang Old Street across the road, although it is not worth seeing. If you want to donate merit, you should buy a ticket, even if you go in and take a look around and come out.

A very mature tourist attraction. The whole yard is not particularly large and can be visited in an hour. It is mainly composed of Tibetan Buddhist temple buildings. There are signs of repairs in some places, but overall it still has a sense of historical vicissitudes. It is a very distinctive temple and worth a visit.

We were super lucky. It was the first time for southerners to see dancing snowflakes. We spent the whole morning immersed in the joy of seeing snow for the first time. We played with the snow with our feet and reached out to catch the snow. We went to the Dazhao Temple. The snow-covered Dazhao Temple looked like a scene from a costume TV drama. We slowly listened to the sound of the snow falling.

After leaving the museum, we went to another must-visit place in Hohhot - Dazhao Temple. It is said that many cities exist because of some famous temples, such as Lhasa, and Hohhot also has this reason. There is a huge statue of Altan Khan in the square outside Dazhao Temple. He is the 17th grandson of Genghis Khan and the founder of Hohhot City.

Dazhao Temple requires a ticket, 35 yuan per person, and students can buy half-price tickets with a student ID. This is the first Lamaist temple built in Hohhot. The Chinese name of this temple is "Wulian Temple", and Tibetan Buddhism is practiced here. Looking at the prayer wheels in the temple, it feels like being in Tibet. There are many ferocious-looking Bodhisattva statues in Tibetan Buddhism, such as the Vajra Bodhi statue, but it is said that these terrifying statues are also said to teach people not to make mistakes. There are not many people in the temple, but it has a sense of ritual and the believers are very pious.

The square was very lively. Early in the morning, a group of middle-aged women were dancing in the square and the atmosphere was very cheerful.

Dazhao Temple is on the right side of the square, the ticket price is 35, which is OK. The interior of the temple is quite solemn and the architecture is gorgeous.

Dazhao Temple covers a large area, so you can take your time to visit it if you are not in a hurry. I don't understand a lot of Buddhist culture, so I may ask for a tour guide next time.

Across the square, the Saishang Old Street is very busy early in the morning. I also went there twice. It is similar to Nanluoguxiang in Beijing. There are mostly souvenir shops, antique shops, and a food street. But the flow of people is less than that in Beijing, so it is not so crowded. The grassland elements are obvious, dairy products, beef jerky, grassland wine, it's dazzling.

I had lunch at the snack street and had some spicy dumplings which tasted pretty good.

By Sun and mirror |

The banners on the square are bright and dazzling. In the ancient city, the shouts are loud, as if taking you back to the bustling streets of the Qing Dynasty... I also marvel at the solemnity of the Dazhao and Qingzhen. The towering buildings and the clean and bright colors on the walls are all showing you the beauty of this city and the pure and simple yearning in people's hearts.

By Never lack of digital |

It was late, and the place was closed. I could vaguely see that it was under renovation. I walked around the square at the entrance. There was a pedestrian street and a food street next to it. The style was similar to other old streets, but there were still many grassland elements in the content, especially for friends from the south who came here to buy some small souvenirs.

The ticket price for Dazhao Temple is 35 yuan, and there is no discount for those aged 60 to 65. There are many tourists coming to Dazhao Temple. There are all kinds of beggars and vendors at the entrance, some with crutches or sitting on the ground, or following closely, causing trouble for the Buddhists. We entered Dazhao Temple and visited each hall in turn according to the regular route.

By Zhaoge Xuanzi goes traveling |

The incense is very popular. Maybe it's because I watched the Legend of Zhen Huan recently, and I thought of Zhen Huan when I saw the wall here. There is a long corridor in the temple, with various introductions to Tibetan Buddhism. The pattern on the prayer wheel feels like a deformation of Tibetan, with each color representing a word, and then artistically spliced.

By Art of the Wilderness |

The entrance was also quite lively. It required a 35-yuan ticket to enter. There were the Eight Sakyamuni Pagodas outside. We looked at them from outside. Friends who are interested in this can go in and take a look.

This is the first time I came to Inner Mongolia and I felt that the ticket price was very reasonable, only 35 yuan. Dazhao Temple is actually not very big, but it is also a Buddhist resort. I personally think that the temple is famous because some celebrities in history have visited here. The temple still retains the canopy used by Emperor Kangxi and the lanterns made by craftsmen in the palace during the reign of Emperor Kangxi. We learned about the history and origins of some temples by following the explanations along the way. In fact, temples in various places seem to be similar.

Although the streets are lined with people selling either food or small items, it is still worth supporting and promoting the city government leaders to support this traditional activity during holidays. The only drawback may be that the loud speaker at the entrance of the commercial street is a bit out of place.

Dazhao Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist temple. Maybe because I had never been exposed to Tibetan Buddhism before, I was surprised when I entered the main hall. Although the hall is dim, it is magnificent. The chair of a living Buddha in a certain generation is still preserved in the center of the front hall. The pillars are wrapped with colorful prayer flags, and there is a circle of prayer wheels next to them. There are many silk mats on the ground for lamas to chant. The space is full and magnificent.

In the back hall, there is a solemn Buddha statue, which exudes mysterious power in the dim butter lamp. This seems to be the most famous silver Buddha in Dazhao. Yes, the soft luster of silver precipitated in the changes of history has enhanced the solemn and calm temperament of the Buddha statue.

Dazhao is a large Tibetan Buddhist temple, with the Chinese name "Wuliang Temple". It is called "Yikewei" in Mongolian, which means "big temple". Tickets are 35 yuan/ticket. Dazhao has a rich collection of treasures, including "three wonders": silver Buddha, dragon carvings, and murals. The scripture hall and the Buddha Hall are connected together, collectively known as the "Great Hall". The Great Hall is the only Lama temple in the entire temple that combines the Han and Tibetan styles. It has a double-story three-bay front hall, a rear scripture hall and a Buddha Hall. In the center of the Buddha Hall is a 2.55-meter-high silver Buddha statue, so Wuliang Temple is also called the "Silver Buddha Temple". Photography is not allowed in the Great Hall.

The tour guide was very good. This tour guide was also open. I listened to 5 tour guides along the way, and each of them explained very well. No photos are allowed in the temple. Dazhao Wuliang Temple has three unique features, namely the silver Buddha in the main hall, the dragon carvings and the murals, all of which are authentic and have a history of hundreds of years. There are also many treasures bestowed by the emperor. In the Jade Buddha Hall, I also saw the Sakyamuni statue with the most hanging gems in the world. It is worth a visit, and you need a tour guide to explain.

Hohhot is known as the Zhao City, and Dazhao is a representative of it. It and Xilituowa are located on both sides of the road.

The family likes to come here to worship during the Spring Festival. There are few people and it is quiet. The smell of oil lamps and incense is always in the air.

You can learn a lot by listening to the tour guide, such as: the six reincarnation diagram next to the main hall, the chairs for lamas to meditate, the tranquility and solemnity of the Great Hall of the Buddha, the 48,000 gems of various types donated by the rich to the Jade Buddha Hall, etc. ~ What made me most happy was seeing with my own eyes a devout person constantly doing the three kneeling and nine prostrations, sweating profusely, for a long time ~ What disgusted me the most was the RMB thrown everywhere, and the commercial atmosphere everywhere ~

Tibetan Buddhist temples with ancient style and charm. Hohhot can provide postcards for tourists from other places. It can represent the historical style and cultural heritage of Hohhot. Although it is not big, it is worth visiting if you go to Hohhot. And next to it is Saishang Old Street. Drinking old yogurt is not bad. Haha. I also made a bracelet made of Huanghuali in the street next to it. It only costs 50 yuan... Take it with you for fun.

I think I wrote it wrong? If you go to the Lama Temple in Hohhot, just visit the Dazhao Temple. But really, the ticket is not worth it...

Dazhao Temple is the most important Tibetan Buddhist temple for the Mongolian people in Inner Mongolia. Although the temple is not big, it enshrines various important Buddhist gods. In addition, you can see monks wearing red robes chanting sutras. Many tourists kneel down devoutly after seeing the statues.

Although it is forbidden to take photos of the main interior of Dazhao Temple, I still took some photos secretly. I feel sorry for the Buddha and the Party...

I came here on a business trip. The architectural style is very unique and the interior is quite large. I don't know much about it, so I can only enjoy the scenery.

When we went there, it was the 15th day of the first lunar month. Many people from Hohhot went to burn incense. There were so many people that it was impossible to get in or out. The incense was very popular. Everyone worshipped Buddha with a pious heart, regardless of gender, age or status. The temple is very large, and it feels bigger than the Lama Temple in Beijing. Photography is not allowed indoors. There are many people selling incense in the temple, and there are also private incense sellers at the entrance of the ticket office. The price is reasonable. The ticket price is 35 yuan, and the half price is 18 yuan for those under 18 years old with ID cards.

It is indeed a classic must-visit attraction in Hohhot, and a temple with the most ethnic and religious characteristics of Inner Mongolia. After entering, you will become very pious and feel as if your soul is being purified!

It is recommended to go early, because Dazhao Wuliang Temple is a must-see attraction in Hohhot, and all major tour groups come here. The temple is a quiet place, and the noise of many people will affect the feeling of everything being empty and quiet in the temple. We went in at around 9 o'clock on Saturday morning. There were not many tourists. The ticket was 35 yuan per ticket. The toilet was on the left side of the entrance. The temple was well repaired, and the fragrance of incense was everywhere, making people almost forget everything outside the temple wall.

I didn't go to Xiaozhao after I went to Dazhao. When I came to Hohhot, the most popular place was the temple. I think this one is the best. You can rent Mongolian clothes at the door for ten yuan and take pictures as you like. The weather was very good, so I was in a good mood. Many people came here with a pious heart. It's very beautiful. You can't take pictures inside. Hehe, you can come here to have fun.

Dazhao Temple is a large Tibetan Buddhist temple in the southern part of Yuquan District, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China. It is the earliest Yellow Sect temple built in Hohhot and one of the large temples built by Mongolians in the early days of converting to Yellow Sect in Mongolia, only later than Meidaizhao. It belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Sect). "Zhao" means temple in Tibetan. The Chinese name was originally "Hongci Temple", and later changed to "Wulian Temple". Because there is a silver Buddha enshrined in the temple, it is also called "Silver Buddha Temple". Dazhao Temple has a wide range of influence in Mongolia. It was founded by Altan Khan, the leader of the Tumed tribe of Mongolia in the Ming Dynasty in the seventh year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1579 AD). It was built in 1580 AD. It is the earliest Lamaist temple built in Hohhot and one of the few temples in Mongolia that does not have a living Buddha. Dazhao is not only a Buddhist holy place, but also a famous tourist destination at home and abroad. The splendid temple architecture, precious cultural relics and artworks, as well as the mysterious Chamu dance and Buddhist music, constitute the unique "temple culture" of Dazhao.
