I didn't want to join a tour group, so I found a car to go there by myself. The driver had something to do there and stayed there for one night. Otherwise, it would be difficult to find a car to go there and come back, so it's more convenient to drive by yourself. I found a place to stay and booked a ticket for the Legend of the South of the Desert performance at Hongger Aobao, which cost 180 yuan, but the ticket price was 280 yuan. The grass at a fork in the road near Hongger Aobao is much better than the grass beside the main road, and there are many yurts to choose from.

I didn't go to see the show. I spent this time sitting and strolling on the grassland, enjoying the sunshine. It was great.

After arriving at the grassland, we started some activities. These activities, such as horse riding and watching performances, are not included in the tour fee and are charged. If you don't participate in any activities, you can only walk around the grassland by yourself, but generally, since you go there, everyone will choose some projects more or less. We chose to go to three scenic spots, namely the grassland, the herdsman's home and the Aobao. In fact, the actual scenery is not as good as expected. The Aobao is very small. The so-called herdsman's home can provide you with some snacks such as milk slices and taste a cup of local milk tea. The milk tea in Inner Mongolia tastes salty, not the sweet milk tea we usually drink. Then other horse milk, milk and the like are also provided, but these need to be paid, 10rmb/bottle, and the taste is similar to yogurt. The horse riding took a total of one and a half hours. The horse team walked together, and the speed was relatively slow. Occasionally, the horse would run a little faster, which would make people a little uncomfortable. When the horse runs fast, it is best to step on the stirrup with your feet and stretch your legs so that your butt will not be shaken! After watching the Legend of Mo Nan performance, this performance is still quite 6 and worth seeing. The performers are very good at horsemanship. The performance is outdoors, with mountains and stones. Through the interpretation of the plot, it shows the deep feelings between the people of Inner Mongolia and horses and the importance of horses to the people of Inner Mongolia. There is also a bonfire party, which is about 9:30 in the evening. There will be singing performances on the stage, and auctions of calligraphy and paintings. The tourists held hands and ran around the bonfire together, which was quite an atmosphere! ~ There is a barbecue stall next to the bonfire party, the price is very expensive, and the taste is mainly very average! There is no difference from the barbecue stalls, so it is not recommended to buy barbecue here. (But if you order the roasted whole lamb, it will be delicious)

Although everyone said it was average after reading the reviews, I think it's good! Because I haven't been to Hulunbuir Prairie hahaha. No comparison

This morning, I went to the famous "Gerile Amma" restaurant in Hohhot with my old friend to taste the local breakfast: milk tea, fruit, camel meat pie, and scallion buns. We set off for Xilamuren Grassland at 9:30. The scenery along the way was very beautiful. The sunflowers, rapeseed flowers, and oats covered the sides of the road, which made me yearn for the grassland. I wanted to see the vast grassland immediately. After a 2-hour drive, I finally arrived at Xilamuren Grassland. The first feeling: commercialization is too serious. Don't trust the "touts" on the roadside. I want to ride a horse or an off-road motorcycle into the grassland. Because I drive by myself, I enter the grassland and drive along the road to enjoy the scenery of nature first. The altitude of Xilamuren Grassland is 1,600 meters, which is 5 degrees lower than Hohhot, so the temperature here is very cool. There is no ticket. The items that need to be paid are: yurt accommodation, horse riding, off-road motorcycles, and meals. The price is slightly higher, which is decided by yourself. In short: if you want to come here and experience Mongolian customs, it is recommended to go to Hohhot first and try: Shaomai and milk tea; then go to Dazhao Temple and the General's Mansion to learn about Mongolian culture. Come to the grassland to experience Mongolian life, try the most noble Mongolian hospitality, and taste roasted lamb.

Be careful to protect yourself from the sun. I wore a short-sleeved shirt and got sunburned. There wasn't a lot of grass. The price for horseback riding was 300 yuan, and the price for the show and Aobao Mountain was 200 yuan.

The service is linked to the payment... But I still recommend renting a car or signing up for a higher-priced local tour group. For example, I signed up for a 399 tour group, which included two horseback rides, free food and drinks at the herdsmen's house (haha, not much), lunch with lamb legs, and a happy ranch in the afternoon. The tour guides are more dedicated, so it's easier to play by yourself without planning. Overall, if you are playing near Hohhot, you can go here, but if you want to see more vast grasslands, you may still have to take the route of Hailar or Hulunbuir. In addition, it is recommended to come to the grassland from July to September, when the grass is greener. It often rains in May and June, and the grass has not grown yet.

I went to Hongger Aobao to watch the live performance, which was quite shocking. I also went to Damao Banner to experience the Zhama Banquet, which was particularly Mongolian. I highly recommend these two! I drank rich and fragrant milk tea and rode a black horse. The deepest feeling was that my alcohol tolerance suddenly increased after I came here. Mutton with skin boiled hand-pulled meat! Perfect! I plan to come here often in the future.

Xilamuren Grassland is located in Darhanmaomingan United Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Xilamuren means "Yellow River" in Mongolian. Xilamuren Grassland is commonly known as "Zhaohe" because there is a Qing Dynasty Lama Zhao Temple "Puhui Temple" on the bank of Xilamuren River.

But as the tour guide said, the self-funded projects after entering the grassland and desert are really the real deal. The grassland is a horseback ride, with a starting price of 380 for two attractions, and 100 more for each additional attraction. The accommodation conditions in the yurt are so-so, but the food is OK. You can order a roasted whole lamb at your own expense. There are equestrian and wrestling performances during the day, and a bonfire party at night, so the children can have a lot of fun.

I went there in September 2016. The grass had turned yellow when I went there, but it was still beautiful.

Those who have not seen the grassland can still take a look. But don't have too high expectations. The purpose of joining a group is to be fooled by the tour guide and spend money. If you want to join a group, I also recommend the all-inclusive project! If you come to this place in the picture, I suggest you don't spend money, just give up and see the grassland.

The scenic spots are not very far away, especially the Xilamuren River, but from the beginning of the car, the tour guide has begun to hypnotize the far distance. The reason why it is a pit must come from the comparison. The price of grassland horseback riding cannot be changed, but Taobao has an all-inclusive package, you know! The remaining few attractions are just walking around in the evening, blowing the wind, which is more comfortable. The group meal is very simple, and the other content is still pretty good!

A small piece of green vegetation on the way is a point called a nature reserve, a herdsman's home visit, which is actually a shopping point, and the return trip ended with a circle around an Aobao.

After that, it was lunch. A roasted whole lamb cost 2998. It was just the lamb. You had to order other dishes. The taste was very perfunctory. They also taught you to sing some songs. They sang well.

After dinner, they started horse racing and wrestling, which was also extremely perfunctory.

The tour guide said that the high cost is because the herders no longer herd and make a living from it, and the peak tourist season is only a few months a year, which is understandable. But safety should be taken seriously and informed.

The 5-day tour from Shanghai to Inner Mongolia includes no itinerary on the first and fifth days, just flying. The group fee is 6,000, which does not include self-funded activities such as horse riding and whole lamb banquet. The price is quite expensive.

It’s so cheap! The same goes for food and accommodation. The authentic Mongolian food is perfect! The accommodation conditions are slightly poor and I can’t take a shower, but the boss is very enthusiastic and brought a bottle of boiled water~ As you can imagine, the total cost this time is much less,😄😄

The sparse grassland is only an hour's drive from Hohhot, not too far. There were people soliciting customers near the scenic spot, but I ignored them and continued to move forward. After reaching the iconic sign, I got off the car and took a walk. Someone came to chat with me, saying that I wanted to stay in their yurt, and the price was reasonable, 80 yuan. Once I entered the residence, there were yurts in twos and threes, but there were quite a few people riding horses. After telling the boss about dinner, I went for a ride to a scenic spot for 50 yuan. The horse didn't run, and it was pleasant to slowly wander on the road. After dinner, I drove around by myself, mainly because I was bored. I heard from the boss that there would be singing and dancing performances in the evening, and it was a little distance from the residence. Suddenly, music sounded outside. I went out to see that it was a small activity organized by the tourists themselves. They had a lot of fun, and my son also joined their circle activities. Occasionally, you can hear the sound of firecrackers in the middle of the night. The only flaw is that the dinner is too that, I won't say it, it is not only expensive but also tasteless.

If you grow up in the south of the Yangtze River, it is hard to understand the shock of the grasslands and deserts in the north of the Great Wall unless you see them with your own eyes. It is vast and boundless. There are no small bridges and flowing water in the south, no winding and winding paths, and no wind blowing the grass low in ancient poems - the short grass looks like a desert. When the morning sun rises, the ground rises with a unique vitality. Watching the sun coat them with a layer of light gold, watching the light burst out from the clouds like golden threads. When the wind comes, the flowing clouds will change. When the sun sets, the huge halo holds up the red clouds until the sun sets and the grassland becomes dim.



I rode alone across the grassland, watching the last ray of light in the sky being swallowed up by the dusk. The fiery clouds dimmed, and the iron-gray shadows occupied half of the sky, and night fell. We were far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, as if we had been separated from all the prosperity of the world and isolated from the world.

The vast prairie is broad and beautiful. Watching the scenery on the prairie is an incomparable enjoyment.

We may have gone at the wrong time. When we arrived at Xilamuren Grassland, the grass was only a little long and not dense. Despite this, the scenery was still good and worth seeing.

Xilamuren Grassland is located in the Dalhanmaomingan United Banner, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Xilamuren means "Yellow River" in Mongolian. Xilamuren Grassland is commonly known as "Zhaohe" because there is a Qing Dynasty Lama Zhao Temple "Puhui Temple" on the bank of Xilamuren River. The temple was originally the summer palace of the Sixth Living Buddha of Xilituzhao in Hohhot, and was built in the 34th year of Qianlong (1769). The double-story halls and caves in the temple are quite spectacular with carved beams and painted buildings. Behind Puhui Temple is the Xilamuren River. You can cross the bridge over the river to reach the Albinbao Mountain to enjoy the grassland scenery. The endless scenery is intoxicating.

The scenery is average, it's very sunny, and the grass on the playground is not particularly beautiful.

It was my first time to go to the grassland. The vast grassland was exactly the same as the pictures and videos I had seen before. Riding horses and watching wrestling matches on the grassland were must-do activities. What surprised me most was the grassland scenery at night. It was clear and quiet, which I had never felt before. The stars were particularly bright, and the night sky was particularly beautiful. I went to the grassland at the end of June. It was not yet the rainy season, so the grass was not particularly lush, but it happened to rain, so it was still a bit cold to live in the yurt. It was a pity that I didn't realize my dream of going to see the sunrise on the grassland. I hope to realize this dream next time. On sunny days, the big white clouds in the sky are really more beautiful than cotton candy.

The price of horseback riding is 380 yuan or 480 yuan. Actually, 380 yuan means walking on horseback. The 33 of us each got a package of Xiangshawan tickets with roasted lamb for 980 yuan. The elderly cannot ride horses, so they can only take carriages.

Because I went there in December, the grassland was already covered with white snow. But it was still worth going. In winter, you must wear warm clothes and full thermal equipment when riding a horse, otherwise you will be very cold.

It was my first time to enter the grassland and I was very excited. Riding a horse was an important purpose of my trip. I was very happy.
