Located in Xilinhot League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the scenery is magnificent. From May to September every year, the flowers on the grassland are in full bloom, which is the best tourist season.

Horseshoe Volcano Roadmap:
After exiting the Huiteng River toll station, there is a fork road X515 to the south, which can lead all the way to the north shore of Lake Darinor. The first section of this road is a hardened cement road, and the second section is a cinder road, but the road condition is good, there are no big potholes, and cars can pass. (The previous guide said it was a crater road, which should have been repaired)
Drive along X515 for about 30km, about an hour, turn left and you will see a small village. At this time, there will be a three-way intersection. To the right is a road that leads to Darinor Lake, and to the left is a hardened cement road. After walking on this cement road for a while, you can see a small yurt in the small village. This is the owner of the grassland where the Horseshoe Volcano is located. After bargaining, the deal was made for 100 yuan per car. The owner led the way directly into the grassland, and it took only 5-10 minutes to drive slowly to the Horseshoe Volcano.
Xilin Gol Grassland is located in the east-central part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with a grassland area of 179,600 square kilometers. 50% of the grass is high-quality forage. It is a pasture with abundant water and grass, an important ecological barrier in North China, and the closest grassland pasture to the capital Beijing. It has the Xilin Gol National Grassland Nature Reserve, the only one in the country that has been included in the International Biosphere Monitoring System by UNESCO. It is one of the four major grasslands in China.
Xilin Gol League is located in the north of China and the central part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is one of the three leagues in Inner Mongolia. "Xilin Gol" means "river on the vast grassland" in Mongolian. The distance between its attractions is very far, and the most beautiful scenery is on the road, so self-driving or chartering a car is a more suitable way to travel.
Xilin Gol Grassland is one of the four major grasslands in China and one of the birthplaces of the Mongolian people. It is the place where Genghis Khan and his descendants went to the Central Plains and the world. The grassland is vast and there are beautiful scenery everywhere along the way...
The grassland is very large. It is the grassland after leaving the city of Xilinhot, so you can look around freely.
I went to Duolun Grassland in Ximeng, which is pretty good and very close to Beijing.
Xilin Gol is Mongolian, meaning the mother river in the hilly area. Xilin Gol Grassland is located in Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with an area of 1.0786 million hectares. It is one of the world-famous grasslands and the main natural grassland of Inner Mongolia Grassland, one of the four major grasslands in China.
It is as magnificent as its reputation! Some places have been run over by vehicles. Once again, I appeal to all hikers to protect the grassland. The Xilin Gol Grassland marked on the Amap is actually a private ranch, not a resort full of yurts and racecourses. After we navigated to the destination, we found that the ranch owner was arguing with several off-road vehicles and did not let them drive into the grassland. There are several local herdsmen around, saying that this is our own private ranch, you can go somewhere else to play. We drove away tactfully, and on the way we saw many cars heading to the Xilin Gol Grassland destination of the navigation, probably all of them were from Amap. In fact, the Xilin Gol Grassland is very large, and the road along the way is part of the Xilin Gol Grassland. The so-called scenic spot is nothing more than a small area with a piece of land, a few yurts, some horseback riding and archery rides, and catering, accommodation and entertainment. If you want to experience the morning and night starry sky of the grassland, you can live in such places. Otherwise, you can drive to see where is good, find a convenient place to park the car, and go sightseeing at any time. If you don't want to live on the grassland, you can live in nearby counties and towns. The conditions are better than yurts and cheaper.
It rained heavily all the way, but it was sunny when we arrived near the Xilinhot toll station. The big white clouds and the sudden blue sky were definitely not to be missed. The grassland scenery was visible.
We arrived at around six or seven o'clock, just in time for the sunset, which was stunningly beautiful.
It is suitable for self-driving, the people are simple and honest, and the travel cost is low.
Xilin Gol Grassland, self-driving tour, the highway is unobstructed, the grass is lush, it is worth a visit!
With the support of mountains, the vegetation of Xilin Gol Grassland has become richer. Although the mountains are not high, they make the grassland show layers and have a masculine toughness.
It's a real prairie, very beautiful and very large. I went there twice but didn't get to see it all. I'll have to go again when I get the chance.
I just came back from here. This year's Xilin Gol is very dry, and the grassland is like yellow soil. I suggest that you drive northeast to Xiwuzhumuqin Banner after arriving in Xilinhot. The grass there is better, there are fewer people, and the scenery is more beautiful.
This was taken last August. It was an unplanned trip! The grassland is much better than the previous trip to Hulunbuir! The sky is blue and the grass is green! Feeling the endless grassland will make you feel relaxed!
This photo was taken at Xilin Gol Grassland last year. It is very beautiful and worth a visit.
Dari Lake passes through the Ulanbutong grassland and passes through Hunshandake
When I went to the prairie, I felt extremely happy. I loved its vastness and its air.
There is the most authentic grassland here, which is wider than Hulunbuir, with fertile grassland and strong horses. You must come here if you have the chance.
This is the best place to ride horses on the grassland and experience the nomadic customs. It is also the first choice for off-road travel by bicycle, motorcycle or four-wheel drive vehicle.
Xilin Gol Grassland is rated as one of the most beautiful grasslands in China. When we came, it was National Day. The most beautiful season should be summer.
I love this grassland... beautiful scenery, horses, endless grassland, beautiful sunset! It's worth a visit
There are wind power stations on each small mound of earth, and I was surprised to find some with two leaves. It really broadened my horizons.
Alas, the pictures on the Internet are all old. Now I am here, disappointed, the grass is not lush anymore, only tin is left in Xilin Jiuqu, the forest is bald, and Jiuqu is dry!
Xilin Gol Prairie is located in Xilinhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is one of the world-famous prairie. It is exciting to drive on the endless prairie.
I think the better grasslands in China are Hulunbuir, Qilianshan Grassland and Xilin Gol, but the scenery of Xilin Gol Grassland is gradually destroyed by wind power and fences. The grasslands of Xiwuqi and Dongwuqi in the north are still very beautiful and almost deserted. The Erenhot Port is basically a Gobi desert, so I don't recommend going there. It's close to Beijing and you can go there on weekends.
I have never been to Hulunbuir, but seeing the grassland here makes me intoxicated
Go in July when the grass is greenest. It is best to charter a car. You can meet local masters and see different scenery.
I went with my girlfriend to a group to do horse riding, archery and mutton. It was also good.
How can the word "vastness" describe your vastness, how can the word "broadness" describe your immensity? In your arms, I just want to be a child, open my arms, and run freely in the wind...
When we returned to Tianjin from Ulanbutong, we had to buy a 130-yuan ticket to Saihanba Park per person (in the past, we could pass through it for free within a limited time), so we decisively changed our route and returned to Tianjin from Dahekou Township. Although it took a detour and added nearly 2 hours of driving time, we saved money and unexpectedly enjoyed the scenery of Xilin Gol Grassland. This was really a blessing in disguise.
2011.7 The whole family stayed overnight at Darinor Lake, and drove to Xilinhot via Huitengxile Grassland the next day. We passed the beautiful Xilin Gol Grassland, and the wind power generation on both sides of the highway was spectacular.
This map is a bit tricky, and there is also Gaode. If you search for "Xilinguole Grassland" on the map, you will find nothing, only a grassland farmhouse in the distance (but horseback riding is cheaper, 50 unlimited time). In Inner Mongolia, I corrected a misunderstanding: not every scenic spot has a gate. Xilinguole Grassland is not a tourist attraction with a gate, a wall and a fee as the mainlanders usually understand, but a "big" grassland, which is larger than an ordinary inland prefecture-level city, so everyone knows... But you must not think it is your own mistake, because you can actually search for such a place on Gaode. And if you search for "Xilinguole League Grassland", there is also such a place, but in fact the accurate name should be "Baiyinxile Zagstai Scenic Area", which is charged.
The grassland at the end of August, in late summer and early autumn, has both summer beauty and the yellowing of Pennisetum, which is very beautiful. This self-driving tour is to go deep into the grassland, experience the life of herdsmen, and enjoy Mongolian traditional food. It is not a point-to-point tourist route. It is worth a visit!
The roads are very beautiful, and the grasslands are basically the same.
I went there for no reason after watching the TV series "I'm Waiting for You in Xilin Gol". I was full of expectations, but the trip was too hasty and I went at the wrong time... Traveling to such a place is too affected by the season~ The Xilin Gol grassland in summer is very beautiful. I look forward to seeing the scene of cattle and sheep in the wind blowing the grass again.
The most important season to visit the grassland is generally from mid-June to mid-August. At this time, both the north and the south are hotter, while the Inner Mongolia Plateau is relatively cooler due to its geographical location. However, the rain was not good in 2018, and the weather was very hot. It was not until mid-July that the grass started to grow after several heavy rains, and the temperature dropped a few days before the beginning of autumn. However, after a few rains, the grassland has returned to its previous beautiful scenery. (The last two pictures were taken in 2017). Update at the end of June 2019: The grass in Xiwuqi is really good, and it gets better as you go east (starting from Xilinhot). The newly added 8 pictures were taken in Wulan Wutai. Even though the pixel of the mobile phone is not high, the pictures look like wallpapers.
I went there twice in autumn. There weren't many people. It's good to drive by yourself! There weren't many people and cars.
The grass here is not tall, the wind and sand are not strong, the four seasons can be divided into two or three seasons, the sky is full of a sense of remoteness, and the green grass exudes a strong vitality
The vegetation felt very badly damaged (overgrazing). Needless to say, there were few vegetables and the food was mainly meat. Mutton was very smelly and I was not used to it. It was very painful for a girl from Jiangnan. The yurt we slept in was quite big. When we walked in, there was a picture of Genghis Khan hanging in the middle. There were cockroaches crawling on the big bunk bed (men and women lived together) at night, but they were killed by a strong male tourist. The quilt was stained with the aunt's fluid of a previous tourist (this is a bit disgusting). We all slept in our clothes and it took us a long time to adapt to fall asleep. There was a big temperature difference between morning and night, but the stars were beautiful. What we gained was that we learned to ride a horse on the grassland and trot around the grassland a few times without the guidance of local herdsmen. It was a great sense of accomplishment!
We arrived at Xilin Gol League on National Day. The heating was turned on on October 15th. The temperature was very low. The grass on the grassland had turned yellow, and occasionally some green could be seen. We chartered a car to go to Xilin Gol Grassland for 350 for two people, including the chef's lunch. We walked and stopped along the way. In late autumn or early winter in Xilin Gol, the sun was very warm and the grassland was very warm, but it was cold without the sun. There was nowhere to hide on the grassland, so we had to get into the car. It was super cold to ride a horse, so it was recommended to go early, but the beef and mutton were still great. We ate shabu-shabu all day to warm our bodies.
The grass is OK, but the scenery depends on luck. Different scenery in different seasons
Inner Mongolia is really big. It took us about four or five hours to drive from Hohhot to Xilin Gol Grassland. We originally wanted to go to the most famous Hulunbuir, but it was too far.
We lived in a yurt, which was basically a big kang that could sleep four people. But it was really cold on the grassland at night, so we had to bring lots of thick clothes. I almost caught a cold.
The grassland is vast, but the grass is a little less and not so lush. But it was really exciting to see the grassland for the first time. I saw many horses and sheep. In the evening, I had Tibetan cuisine and roasted lamb.
The climate here is too dry, so you must bring lip balm, otherwise your lips will crack.
I went to the prairie because I participated in a volunteer activity to prevent sand. The five days on the prairie were particularly beautiful days. The sunrise, sunset, breeze, and strong but warm sunshine were all wonderful.
White clouds are floating in the blue sky, and horses are running under the white clouds. This line of lyrics is so appropriate. Only when you are there, you will feel how insignificant you are.
Very beautiful, very diverse, illuminates many photos, feels very comfortable
Xilin Gol is Mongolian for the mother river in the hilly area. The grassland is located in Xilin Gol League with an area of 1.0786 million hectares. It is one of the four major grasslands in my country - the main natural grassland of Inner Mongolia grassland. It is mainly meadow grassland, typical grassland, sandy sparse forest grassland and river valley wetland ecosystem.
Xilin Gol is Mongolian, meaning river in hilly areas. Xilin Gol League is located in the north of Beijing, the capital of China, and in the central part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It borders Mongolia to the north, with a border line of 1,098 kilometers. It is adjacent to Chifeng City, Tongliao City, and Xing'an League of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to the east, Ulanqab League to the west, and Chengde and Zhangjiakou of Hebei Province to the south. It has a total area of 203,000 square kilometers and is the closest frontier ethnic minority area to Beijing. The league has jurisdiction over 9 banners, 2 cities, 1 county and 3 autonomous region-level green industry development zones. There are 24 ethnic groups in the league, including Mongolian, Han, Hui, Daur, Oroqen, etc., with a total population of 920,000, of which the Mongolian population accounts for 29.6%.

I went there in early August, and the grass had already turned yellow. There was no wind blowing through the grass, but there were wind, rain, hail, and early frost.
The grassland closest to Beijing, the real Inner Mongolia Valley grassland, has a comfortable climate and fresh air. Friends in Beijing strongly recommend self-driving here. There are almost no cars on G207, and it is very pleasant to drive.
After seeing the grandeur of Xilin Gol Grassland, those grasslands such as Tagong Grassland, Gannan Grassland, and Tonghu Grassland can no longer surprise you in the slightest. Although these grasslands are of different types, only Xilin Gol can be so vast as the "city of the plains". The sky is lower and bluer than that of ordinary cities in the Central Plains. The road is on the national highway and occasionally on the provincial highway. The road conditions are pretty good. Just be careful to avoid the trucks carrying grass. There is no "Watch out for pedestrians" on the road signs, but there are many "Watch out for livestock". Sheep, horses, and cows often appear in the middle of the road, which is a beautiful scenery. The grass is taller and pricklier than expected, so try to wear long pants~
The beauty is shocking, there are few people, I went in September, and appreciated the beauty of early autumn~~~~ The whole journey was not about rushing, but enjoying the beauty passing by on the road
The vast grassland has different scenery in spring, summer, autumn and winter. The lush green grass in spring, the endless summer, the golden autumn and the bright white snow in winter! Feel the different scenery of the four seasons!
The Xilingol grassland is an endless plain grassland, unlike the Ulan Butong grassland which has many hilly areas.
The prairie of my dreams is just such a vast and boundless paradise! When you are there, you can't help but want to jump!
After entering Xilingol League, the scenery on the highway became more and more charming. There were sights everywhere, grasslands that stretched as far as the eye could see, and we only saw a car for half a day on the road.
Before I knew it, the sky had gradually darkened. I looked at the watch and it was already past seven in the evening. Fourteen hours had passed since I set out, but the beautiful scenery along the road made me so excited that I didn't feel tired at all.
For us who saw the prairie for the first time, we kept exclaiming at its charm. Any place is like a desktop-level scenery.
We arrived at Xilin Gol Grassland in mid-July. There were herds of cattle and sheep everywhere. The sky was blue and white, which is rare in our south. We had hand-pulled meat and milk tea for lunch. Their milk tea is salty and we are not used to it. The wind on the grassland is too strong, so we have to wear two layers of clothes at night.
We parked the car on the side of the road where it would not get in the way, and walked into the grassland. There were many horses and cows grazing leisurely. The cows would stare at you, making you feel guilty.
Xilin Gol Grassland is the birthplace of the Mongolian ethnic group, and its name means "mother river" in the hilly area in Mongolian.
This is a place that opens your heart. When you come here, you just want to sing loudly like the Mongolians. Unconsciously, you will stretch out the ending of each sentence. This is the broad-mindedness of the Mongolians.
This grassland is the only reason why our trip to Xilinhot was worthwhile.
It’s so beautiful! Just wear more because it’s very windy!
The pristine prairie is boundless and beautiful enough to make people wander back and forth.
Compared with Hulunbuir Grassland, this place can only be rated as average. Sorry.
On Children's Day, I followed the Green Field group to walk around the grassland
The grassland in China, which is second only to Hulunbuir, is really beyond my expectation. Although the grass is not very tall in early June, the vast grassland is enough to shock you. There is also a very beautiful sky and many original scenes. However, for development, more and more grasslands are destroyed. Grasslands are very fragile and the destruction is irreversible. I really hope that I can still see such beautiful grasslands when I go back in a few years.
It is true that Xilin Gol Grassland is beautiful, rich and resource-rich. This is clearly demonstrated on the G207 National Highway from Zhangbei to Xilinhot. Fully loaded heavy trucks sped past our car windows, transporting various resources to the capital. The wind turbines on the roadside are like crops in the fields, densely packed and orderly arranged.
The scenery in the Northwest is really great! It is the right choice to avoid the crowds during the golden holiday and go to the vast grasslands and the desolate desert! A memorable trip in a lifetime!
We drove through Xilinhot and entered the Xilin Gol Grassland Scenic Area, but found that the fuel was insufficient. We had to return to the city to refuel. We warned the comrades who were galloping on the grassland to refuel in time. Then we turned back to visit the Xilin Jiuqu, Pingdingshan and other scenic spots. It happened to be the sunset on the grassland. The red sun merged with the grassland and gradually disappeared from sight. Then we drove around the grassland, which was very enjoyable.
White clouds flowing in the azure sky create an interweaving of light and shadow on the grassland. With the cattle, sheep and horses dotted among them, the grassland is as beautiful as a painting.
Absolutely beautiful grassland scenery. "National Geographic Magazine of China" selected the most beautiful grasslands in China, and Xilin Gol Grassland ranked third. Visiting time: It is best to visit from early to mid-July, when flowers are everywhere and the grass is green. It is the most beautiful season of the year for grasslands.
I turned into a small road and saw it. There are many such small roads in the grassland. Just a few kilometers in, it is a pristine grassland. It is as quiet as a paradise. There is no noise from humans except the birds and insects.
It was a standard endless prairie, but the Danxi Expressway was being built on the road we were on, and the flying dust ruined the view.
The grassland here is completely different from the grassland at the military horse farm. It is a natural endless pasture. The blue sky and white clouds in the distance are connected to the grassland, making people feel that they have finally found the place where the white clouds rise.
This grassland is the main natural grassland of the Inner Mongolia grassland, one of the four major grasslands in my country. Today, I saw it with my own eyes. It is really red houses, green grass, blue sky and white clouds. Mongolian yurts can be seen everywhere on the grassland. Nature is so wonderful.
