Jiangning Weaving Museum

Located in the Daxing Palace area in the center of Nanjing today, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty visited the south of the Yangtze River six times, and stayed in the Jiangning Weaving House five times.
Cao Xueqin was born in the mansion. Now it is a modern museum built on the site of the former Jiangning Weaving Factory. It is a must-visit for fans of "Dream of Red Mansions".
It houses the birthplace of Cao Xueqin, the exhibition hall of Cao Xueqin's former residence and the on-site weaving Nanjing brocade museum, and the Dream of Red Mansions Literature Museum.
The museum houses ancient Chinese dragon robes and cheongsams collected from overseas, among which the Tang Dynasty brocade is extremely precious.

The Jiangning Weaving Museum is conveniently located at the Daxinggong subway station. The Nanjing Library and the Presidential Palace are across the street. Exit 6 is closest to the ticket office, or you can exit from Exit 2. Take a look at the outside first to get an overall feel, so you don't walk in vain.

The entire scenic area was built on the site of the Jiangning Weaving House. It does not cover a large area, but because of its ingenious design, it makes full use of the terrain, with layers of shade and winding paths, which will not make people feel cramped at all. When you are there, you will often ignore the actual area here. It was not a weekend when I went there, so there were not too many tourists. If you are short of time, you can complete the tour in about 2 hours. But if you love the Red Mansion, and you happen to have plenty of time and encounter good weather, then you might as well bring a book about the Red Mansion, find a quiet place in the garden to read a book, walk around, take pictures, and drink tea. It feels great.

Booking tickets on China-TravelNote was very smooth. I placed the order when I arrived there and received a text message immediately. However, I cannot enter the entrance directly. I need to confirm at the ticket window first and then I can enter. It is very convenient. You can also get a discount by using China-TravelNote. Although it is not much, every bit saved counts.

The ticket is 30 yuan. It was rebuilt on its original site and designed by Mr. Wu Liangyong. There is a QR code to explain. I personally think it is worth going: Cheongsam Museum (upstairs)

By Popeye Toyoko |

Sometimes it is free. The location is very city center, close to 1912 and the Grand Palace. I had never been there before, but after I had children, I found it very interesting. There are mountains and waters surrounding it, which are nice to see.

By Salad Dressing |

The museum is near the Presidential Palace. Although there are many people, it is much better than the Presidential Palace. I read in the guide that students from other places can enter at half price, but when I went there, I just showed my student ID and signed and I could go in directly without queuing up to buy tickets. I originally thought that the Jiangning Weaving Museum would be a very ordinary exhibition hall, but I found that in addition to various exhibition halls, there is also a small garden. The scenery is pretty good and it is also very nice to take pictures. I also walked around here for almost two hours~

By Follow the line |

There are a lot of contents of Dream of Red Mansions, and you can also look at silk and other fabrics. Overall, it's okay

By Black Beans |

After visiting the Dream of Red Mansions Museum, I have the urge to read the original novel. The WeChat voice explanation is very useful.

By TANG yaya yaya |

Both the brocade and the embroidery are super beautiful! Only after seeing the works here can you understand what is called exquisite craftsmanship! There are not many people, if you come here during holidays, you can avoid the crowds and visit.

By Second Brother |

The underground floor is about the history of Dream of the Red Chamber, which is well done. There is also a Yunjin Exhibition Hall, where many exhibits are imitations, treasures, and of course some are printed. The printed ones are divided into PVC boards and exhibition cloths, and many of them are, and those who rush through may not know that what they are looking at is printed... Although there are many introductions, it is a pity that the large loom cannot be restored to operate... On the first floor, it is the Jiangning Weaving Exhibition Hall. The two exhibition halls are connected by a garden. The master Wu Liangyong is worthy of his reputation. The architectural level and the garden are very comfortable, especially the streamlines. Of course, they are the streamlines on the ground. The streamlines underground may have been intruded later, so... But I still want to complain. Whether it is an amusement park or a museum, we should pay attention to the rest seats. There is only a row of chairs after walking for an hour... When we came, the number of security guards far exceeded the number of tourists...

The Jiangning Weaving Museum is next to the Presidential Palace. It can bring out some of the history of Nanjing in its exhibition. It is indeed worth visiting. However, the Chillon Castle in Montreux, the Glacier Museum in Lucerne and the City Museum in Osaka introduce more about the geography and historical evolution of the entire relevant area, which is more comprehensive and detailed! History is a good thing, better than the same old business. In the Jiangning Weaving Museum, I also saw the Hundred Blessings and samples. The gold in them is woven with gold thread! Many of the treasures have holes on them~ I guess they have been restored.

By baidane |

Thirty yuan for a ticket? Very poor, very small, nothing worth showing off for a museum, and the funny thing is that the third and fourth floors are not managed by themselves, and visitors are not allowed. Oh, it's a money-making scam.

By 鼠來寶 |

From a distance, it looks like a Jiangnan garden, while from a closer look, it looks like a modern building. The Jiangning Weaving Museum combines modern and classical elements. Its interior continues the elegance and beauty of Jiangnan gardens, with rockery and winding paths, isolating the hustle and bustle of the city from the outside. Jiangning Weaving House is not as popular as the Nanjing Museum, but it is very relaxing to visit here. Especially during the short holidays, it is still very quiet here, and it is definitely a good place to avoid the crowds.

Recommended playing time: 1 hour

By Make a fool of oneself |

It is an interesting place, with the imperial edict of Emperor Qianlong, which is said to be related to Cao Xueqin. Friends who like Redology can go and have a look. Of course, there is a fee, about 30 yuan.

By LEEEEEE |

The predecessor of Jiangning Weaving Museum was Jiangning Weaving House. The museum introduced that Jiangning Weaving House was nominally in charge of the textile industry of Jiangning House, but in fact it was the highest local official in Jiangsu Province. Therefore, Jiangning Weaving House was much more luxurious than other official residences, so that Emperor Qianlong, who loved luxury, used Jiangning Weaving House as a temporary palace when he went to Jiangnan. Jiangning Weaving House was inextricably linked to Cao Xueqin and "Dream of Red Mansions", so there is a special Dream of Red Mansions Hall in the museum, the Red Mansion was transformed into a store, and the Xiandian was transformed into a popular science museum for future generations to worship. Behind the Xiandian is the mountain mausoleum.

By The clouds in the sky are floating |

Jiangning Weaving House is the home of Cao Xueqin, and also the once-prominent Jia family in Dream of the Red Chamber. In addition to exhibitions of Chinese textiles from various periods, the museum also has a separate exhibition hall for Dream of the Red Chamber.

By Ordinary life |

The objects inside are very beautiful and colorful. But now they are commercialized and have lost the flavor of the ancient monuments and the flavor of learning.

By Flowing clouds and snow |

The model of the Jiangning Weaving House on the far left is also the birthplace of Cao Xueqin, the author of A Dream of Red Mansions.

By Yuanbao |

Now it is a museum built under the leadership of the old academician Wu Liangyong. It is located in a corner of the downtown area, with pavilions, terraces, small bridges and flowing water, which are exquisite and exquisite. There is a brocade wooden loom on the first floor below ground, which requires two people to work together. The complexity of its use is amazing. The Jiangning Weaving House also displays some memorials reviewed by Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong, which are particularly funny, "I know", "Be careful", "Ask again and then report", hahahaha.

By ҉ No life without madness |

A very modern museum. I think the cultural characteristics inside are only found in Jinling. It is definitely worth a visit.

By A user |

There was the Six Dynasties before, so the experience in this museum is slightly inferior, but it is still worth the money. I really want to watch more of Dream of the Red Chamber.

By Qianxi chestnut |

I went there during the summer vacation of 2016. This place has a long history and was a palace during the Qianlong period. But the ticket is 20 yuan, and the student card is half price. If you don't know this period of history, don't go. It's too boring.

By Ranking doesn't matter to me |

Jiangning Weaving Museum is a small landscape created by modern people with a display of weaving history. It is worth visiting if you have time, but it is better not to visit if you are short on time.

By Three daughters |

Jiangning Weaving Museum is more suitable for fans of Dream of the Red Chamber. I hope that people who understand it can experience the true dream of Jinling instead of just visiting it in a hurry like us.

By Bubbles |

Because of "Dream of Red Mansions" and Cao Xueqin, I know the name of Jiangning Weaving. The Jiangning Weaving Mansion, which was rebuilt on the original site, was once the Grand Palace. It has now been converted into the Jiangning Weaving Museum. Although the garden is small, it borrows the concept of the Grand View Garden. The exhibits revolve around weaving, a pillar industry that supports Jiangnan, and the fate of the families related to the position of Jiangning Weaving. The specially opened Dream of Red Mansions Hall, where the old version of "Dream of Red Mansions" is played in a loop in the theater, and there is also a cheongsam exhibition on the third floor. The huge loom is the most attractive. The complex craftsmanship gave birth to the brocade that was enjoyed by the nobles, but it increased the difficulty of inheritance. The ticket is 20 yuan.

By Side bangs, white shirt |

Nanjing brocade has a history of 1,600 years. It has always retained the traditional jacquard wooden loom weaving, representing the highest achievement of Chinese silk weaving technology. The weaving of brocade requires the cooperation of a weaver and a jacquard loom worker. The weaver sits on the upper layer of the loom and is responsible for raising the warp; the weaver sits under the loom and is responsible for weaving the weft. Two people can only produce 5-6 centimeters a day. This craft has not been replaced by machines so far, so there is a saying that "an inch of gold and an inch of brocade are worth every penny".

By Yu Da Gou |

It's a very ordinary museum. I don't even want to write a recommendation for it. The display method is very strange. I personally don't like it.

By The Prince is Unparalleled |

Cao Xueqin, the author of Dream of the Red Chamber, was born in Jiangning Weaving House in 1711, the 50th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign. Emperor Kangxi stayed here five out of six times during his southern tours. How pleasant it would be to have such a large back garden in modern times!

By The Rice Eater |

Located at the intersection of Changjiang Road and Taiping North Road, it was designed by the famous designer Mr. Wu Liangyong based on the concept of the city garden and the story of the walnut boat. The main exhibition area on the first floor introduces the rise and fall of the weaving house and the three generations of the Cao family, the important position of Nanjing's textile industry in history, and the gardens in the open area, with water, rocks and plants. The exhibition area on the second floor fully introduces the evolution of cheongsam and is equipped with rich exhibits. The underground floor is the Dream of Red Mansions Hall, which is carefully constructed and uses a variety of scientific and technological means to fully display this literary masterpiece. The Yunjin Hall on the other side is also very rich in content, but unfortunately time is limited and it was hurriedly recorded with photos.

By lattice |

It's a very good museum. When I came here, I happened to meet a group of students giving a test. I followed them and learned a lot from their explanations. It took more than two hours to walk around. There are mainly two contents in it: Yunjin and Dream of Red Mansions.

By SJ |

Master Wu Liangyong's final work cleverly uses space to combine Jiangnan gardens with modern architectural styles. There are also many cheongsam exhibits inside, and boys can also try on cheongsams virtually.

By 落花時節又逢君 |

The Jiangning Weaving House is not far from the Presidential Palace. It has much fewer people than the Presidential Palace. What’s interesting is that there is a Jiangnan garden behind it. I think it is quite beautiful and has a Jiangnan feel.

By Feeling a little cold |

It is together with the Manufacturing Museum, which is actually the Manufacturing Museum. The courtyard is well built.

By 👀Pass👀 |

It's so small and not worth the trip. Oh, I'm really disappointed!

By Yi Xiaoxi |

The overall architecture of the museum is in the style of Jiangnan gardens. Looking from the south to the north, the buildings are stacked up like a landscape painting. Inside the palace, there are no modern high-rise buildings to the north, east, and west.

By Good |

Overall it's OK, the children like it very much, and the experience design is humanized. There are not many tourists inside. We went there in the afternoon and it was empty.

By ax lily |

Jiangning Weaving Museum, I have always wanted to visit it. I thought it was just one floor, built to imitate the layout of Jiangning Weaving Museum, but when I walked to the underground floor, I suddenly saw another dream world. The Red Mansion, ancient music, brocade, accompanied by the rise and fall of the Cao family, just restored the history and the Red Mansion. False is true and true is false, weaving a real Dream of the Red Mansion for every visitor!

By Chu Mengmeng |

A particularly worthwhile museum, not crowded, great exhibits, beautiful environment, friends who love visiting museums should not miss it

By Small zinc |

Jiangning Weaving House is located in the Daxing Palace area in the center of Nanjing. This museum, built in the city center where every inch of land is valuable, looks like a modern museum from the outside, and its shape is the style of modern Jiangnan gardens, and it has the characteristics of combining Chinese and Western styles. The small courtyard on the south side of the Weaving House is a typical Jiangnan garden pattern, with pavilions, rockery, winding paths, small bridges and flowing water. You will be amazed by the master's exquisite design when you are in it. You can't feel the hustle and bustle of the downtown area here. On the north side are 4 layers of modern pavilions and towers, which block the surrounding buildings and basically can't see the traces of modern urban buildings outside. Most of the ancient Yunjin books exhibited in the Yunjin Exhibition Hall were collected from various places, and many of them are Jiangning Weaving treasures returned from overseas. Whether it is the dragon robes and auspicious clothes of the emperor and his concubines, or the python patterned battle robes worn on the expedition, they are very eye-catching. Under the light, these exquisite costumes are still as bright as new, and the layers of patterns piled up by the complex weaving method are still shining. If you walk in the cheongsam hall designed in the style of an old neighborhood, you will feel like you are traveling through a time tunnel. Each cheongsam on display is fashionable but not ostentatious, modern but not gaudy, bringing the exquisiteness and luxury of the imperial city, and walking in the decadence of the foreign land. In addition, the 3D multimedia exhibition hall, which is full of the flavor of the times, also attracted me to spend more time to stop and appreciate it.

Jiangning Weaving House is now located at No. 123 Changjiang Road, Xuanwu District, opposite the Presidential Palace. Business hours: 9:00-17:00 (ticket sales stop at 16:30). Tickets are 20 yuan.

Jiangning Weaving House is the residence of Cao Xueqin, the author of Dream of Red Mansions, for three generations of his great-grandfather (Cao Xi), grandfather (Cao Yin), and father (Cao Fu, Cao Yong). Cao Xueqin lived here for 17 years. It is worth a visit. You can see that the design is very attentive and the scenery is picturesque. The Red Mansion Pavilion is downstairs, and it is almost missed. It is more vivid with the combination of many technological elements. It is a very good place with pavilions, towers and stages. There are not many people, but it is quite interesting and worth recommending. People who like Dream of Red Mansions must come here to see the place where Cao Xueqin lived.

It was very exciting when I went there, especially for fans of the novel! Fans of the novel must go there to experience the prototype of the Grand View Garden.

Jiangsu is the Jiangnan weaving history and displays related cultural relics, it is worth a visit

By That fat sheep |

That is Jiangning Weaving Museum, which is close to the Presidential Palace (about 200 meters). You can buy an annual ticket together with the Presidential Palace for 55 RMB, and a single ticket for 20 RMB. It mainly includes the Dream of Red Mansions Hall, Yunjin Hall and the newly added Memorial Hall of the Surrender of the Anti-Japanese War. Jiangning Weaving played an important role in the Qing court. It was also the prototype of "Dream of Red Mansions". There is a large chapter introducing it. In addition, friends who buy Yunjin can learn more about it here.

By equals |

Although it is a modern building, the garden design inside is quite good. It allows you to learn about the development trajectory of the Jiangnan Weaving House and various fabrics. There is also a section that explains "Dream of the Red Chamber". I think it is worth a visit.

The route to Jiangning Textile Factory is easy to get to. It is right there as soon as you come out of Exit 2 of Daxinggong Station on Nanjing Metro Line 2. It is only one stop away from Xinjiekou in the city center. It is definitely a great and quiet place in the bustling city.

After opening, the Jiangning Weaving Museum has four halls: Jiangning Weaving Historical Materials Exhibition, Red Mansion Literature Hall, Chinese Yunjin Exhibition, and Chinese Cheongsam Museum. The overall architecture of the museum is in the style of Jiangnan gardens. Looking from the south to the north, the buildings are stacked up like a landscape painting. Inside the mansion, there are no modern high-rise buildings to the north, east, and west. From the outside, the Jiangning Weaving Mansion looks like a modern museum. In the middle of the curtain wall, there are two eaves of ancient pavilions. Pushing the door in, there is an elegant Jiangnan garden on the south side and a prosperous tower on the north side. On the north side of the garden of the Jiangning Weaving Mansion are four-story pavilions, which block the surrounding buildings and do not show any traces of urban modern buildings.

In addition to striving to restore the original appearance, the recreated Jiangning Weaving House will reflect the essence of "Dream of Red Mansions" in more details. A stalagmite is designed at the exit of the sunken square, implying the "Qinggeng Peak" at the beginning of the novel. The couplets and plaques that tourists see when visiting the pavilions and towers are from the original work and are handwritten by contemporary Redology masters. Through the glass door, you can see pavilions, bridges, flowing water, and corridors and waterside pavilions in the museum. Looking north from the garden on the south side of the museum, you can see that there are 4 floors of palaces and pavilions on the west side, interspersed with 4 representative buildings such as "Liang Pavilion", "Xuanrui Hall", "Stage" and "Youfenglaiyi Hall". The tallest building is the "Liang Pavilion" in the northwest corner. It is the landmark building of the entire "Jiangning Weaving House" and is located at the highest point of the entire building.

Appendix: Origin of Jiangning Weaving Factory

The Jiangning Weaving Supervisor was mostly appointed by the Emperor’s trusted Eight Banners Minister of the Imperial Household Department, known as the “Jiangning Weaving Supervisory Department.” His status was second only to the Governor-General of Liangjiang, and he was deeply trusted by the Emperor.

Jiangning Weaving House is located in the Daxing Palace area in the center of Nanjing. It covers an area of 18,700 square meters and a construction area of 35,600 square meters. There are four floors of ground buildings, including the West Pond, the Chinese Melia Pavilion, the Xuanrui Hall, the Fenglaiyi and other garden buildings. The two underground floors have the Jiangning Weaving House, the Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall, the Dream of the Red Chamber Literature Museum and the Yunjin Museum. In 2004, the famous academician Wu Liangyong presided over the design and reconstruction, and it was completed in 2009. The overall architecture of the museum is the style of Jiangnan gardens. Looking from the south to the north, the buildings are stacked up, like a landscape painting. In the house, there are no modern high-rise buildings on the north, east and west sides. From the outside, Jiangning Weaving House looks like a modern museum. In the middle of the curtain wall, there are two eaves of ancient pavilions. Pushing the door in, there is an elegant Jiangnan garden on the south side and a prosperous building on the north side. On the north side of the Jiangning Weaving House garden are four-story pavilions that block out the surrounding buildings and no trace of modern urban architecture can be seen.

By Do you have no clothes? |

It is a bit like the Silk Museum and Brocade Museum. If you have been to similar museums, there is no need to go there. It is basically a newly built building, just built on the site of the Jiangning Weaving House, but the facilities are relatively complete.

The place is near the Presidential Palace, just a 100-meter walk and a short walk across the street. There are combined tickets for the Weaving House and the Presidential Palace, which are about 5 or 10 yuan cheaper. If you are interested, you can buy the combined ticket - you can walk around the Presidential Palace, which is pretty good.

Personally, I feel that the recommended visiting time for the Weaving House is 45 minutes, which is enough for most people, including taking photos.

By ~Quietly getting drunk~ |

The design is clever, and the garden has a special sense of layers when viewed from south to north. It is worth a leisurely stroll. The Red Building Pavilion on the underground floor has many technological interactive elements, but unfortunately many of them are broken. The best thing in the Weaving Pavilion on the ground floor is the large-screen projection animation based on the Southern Tour Map, which is different in day and night in the four seasons.

By Wudang Daoke Youth Hostel |

It is worth a visit. The prototype of the Grand View Garden in Dream of Red Mansions is Jiangning Weaving House. So there is also an exhibition hall of Dream of Red Mansions here. It introduces the development history of Yunjin. Those who are not interested in silk Yunjin can ignore it. The ticket is 20 yuan. It is located near 1912 Bar Street, and the Presidential Palace is also very close to 1912.

Jiangning Weaving House is a famous building designed by Wu Liangyong, and many people come here to sketch.

By The driver's talk |

The most famous brocade in Nanjing was produced under the supervision of Jiangning Weaving House in the Qing Dynasty. This book records how Cao Yin devoted himself to making dragon robes for the emperor, as well as the rise and fall of the Cao family.

By Eleanor |

The museum was built on the site of the former Jiangning Weaving Factory. The first floor exhibition hall displays the history of the weaving factory. After the tour, you will see the Jiangnan Garden, which is similar in shape to the Grand View Garden described in "A Dream of Red Mansions". The second floor exhibition hall is a cheongsam exhibition, and the underground first floor is an exhibition of brocade fabrics from various dynasties and an exhibition of "A Dream of Red Mansions". There is also a Red Mansion Teahouse, Zhiyanzhai, where you can drink tea and dream about the Grand View Garden. The most impressive thing in the museum is the 3D version of "Kangxi's Southern Tour", which is no less effective than the 3D animation played in the cinema, and vividly reproduces the grand scene of the year.

I personally recommend this place. First of all, the ticket here is not expensive (only 20, and it is 5 yuan cheaper to buy a package ticket with the Presidential Palace than to buy it separately). Second, there is plenty of air conditioning here, not many people, and there are super many places to sit, which is especially suitable for summer. Third, let's talk about the connotation. First, go to the underground first floor (the underground first floor is right after you go out of Gate 2 of the subway station) to see the Yunjin (you can see people weaving on that superstar machine. In fact, the correct term here is what fashion exhibition hall is). I was lucky today and just caught up with the Yunjin clothing T-stage show at 10:30. The clothes are so exquisite that there is nothing to say. There are also exhibitions of ancient emperors, nobles, and women's clothing in the museum, which is simply amazing. There are also various introductions to Dream of the Red Chamber. Students who like the Red Chamber and the Qing Dynasty must come here (there is also an exhibition hall in the museum where a foreign photographer in the Qing Dynasty reflected on the life of the Qing Dynasty from different perspectives of women, officials, and scenery). Then let's talk about the first floor. There is a stage located outside the rockery pavilion, and the environment and scenery are quite good. There is a large exhibition hall on the first floor, which tells the development of Yunjin. The second floor is the cheongsam exhibition. I remember seeing a saying that not all beauties look good in cheongsam, but women who can wear cheongsam with charm must have their own unique temperament. This floor is really great, every piece is super exquisite.

I was wondering why it sounded so familiar, it turned out to be Cao Xueqin's shop. There are many kinds of silk fabrics inside, not just silk, but also special fabrics of ethnic minorities, with bright colors and different styles.

By MIMIMOMO |

I had no intention of going there, but I saw that the Presidential Palace was selling package tickets, so I went in to take a look. There were several exhibition halls, and they were quite large, but I didn't like them very much.

By The wind at the pass |

You can buy a combined ticket at Daxinggong Station on Subway Line 2, Nanjing Library Station on Bus No. 31 and No. 3, and the Presidential Palace. The main attraction is the Red Mansion culture, and there are also cheongsams on display and for sale. There is a small garden outside, and the scenery is OK, but the background is all high-rise buildings, which always looks a bit strange. There are snacks in the nearby Beiting Lane. In addition to the Presidential Palace, it is not far from the Nanjing Six Dynasties Museum, Jiangsu Art Museum, Meiyuan New Village Memorial Hall and Changjiang Road Cultural Street.

It is a newly built building near the Presidential Palace. There is a Dream of Red Mansions Pavilion inside. The volunteer brother seems to be not only caring, but also very fond of Dream of Red Mansions. He has his own research~~

By A small segment of life |

I was already thinking about the Dream of the Red Chamber before I even entered the door. This should be considered the palace of the Red Chamber. Various modern technologies are used to display various things related to the Red Chamber. Dynamic and static, it makes people calm down and dream with Baoyu.

It seems to be the place where Cao Yin lived when he was a child. It was built by a famous architect. The exterior is modern, but the interior is in the style of Jiangnan gardens! As the name suggests, the Weaving Museum displays the history and development of the Weaving Bureau, as well as various costumes worn by the emperor and empress. There are cheongsam halls and Dream of Red Mansions exhibition halls in the basement. People who study the Dream of Red Mansions must be very interested! If you are serious about visiting, it will probably take half a day.

I think the traditional architecture of Jiangning Weaving House is much more exquisite than many "fake cultural relics". It is all made of wood color, instead of imitating the Qing Dynasty painted patterns like many "fake cultural relics". The imitation patterns and specifications are not right, which is worse than not doing anything well. In fact, I don't know whether it is based on historical materials or the designer made it like this. Anyway, I like it very much. And the details are still very meticulous.

The entire building of Jiangning Weaving Museum is oriented from north to south, gradually rising from south to north. The traditional building rises from south to north like a bonsai sitting on the modern building "square box" ~ Academician Wu said that this is a bonsai model, which is quite fresh. I like this model very much, the wood is very simple and elegant. The modern building on the lower floor of the building is the main body of the museum. The main exhibition hall is in the "square box". The outer skin of the square box is metal mesh grilles and clay panels. When installing the clay panels, I also went to see its nodes.

I went there and it was like a wish come true. The four main attractions are: cheongsam, brocade, weaving house, and Dream of the Red Chamber. As a museum in a prime location, the area is large enough, but the gold content needs to be improved. In addition, the trend of museums in Nanjing is free, and your 20 yuan ticket is too stingy.

The current general appearance of the Jiangning Weaving House can already be seen.

When it was first built, we knew that the project was called Jiangning Weaving House. However, as the project progressed, it felt more and more incongruous. How come it looked like a modern building from the outside, but inside it had bridges, flowing water, pavilions and towers, and looked very classical? Later, I heard the explanation from experts that this was exactly the effect they wanted!

As the original site of the excavation of the Weaving House, in order to restore the magnificent scenery of the Weaving House at that time, including the feeling of the Grand View Garden in "Dream of Red Mansions", the main building must be a Chinese classical garden. However, this is also a museum, so some modern elements are borrowed. It can be said to be a combination of Chinese and Western elements.

I'm looking forward to opening the door and seeing what's going on!

The planning seems not good

Surrounded by modern buildings

Suddenly an ancient building appeared

But the appearance is still good

The current Jiangning Weaving House gives people a weird feeling. Anyway, I don’t like this style.

The building outside is very modern, with a glass exterior wall, and inside is a Jiangnan garden.

Did Cao Xueqin's family live in a similar environment back then?

Since we cannot follow the original historical appearance, why call it this name?
