Niu Shou Mountain is one of the four major Buddhist holy sites in China, enshrining the skull relic of Buddha Sakyamuni.

In the morning, I took a half-hour drive to reach the Niu Shou Mountain Scenic Area. The first holy place, the Buddha's Head Temple, was at the entrance of the mountain. I walked through the corridor and entered the hall. My heart could not help but become quiet, and I bowed and let go of the fetters of the world. I climbed to the top of the mountain and approached the Buddha's Head Pagoda. The modern Buddha's Head Pagoda and the Hongjue Temple Pagoda of the Ming Dynasty next to it have reappeared after a century. "Repairing the Heavenly Palace and Hiding the Underground Palace" built the Buddha's Head Palace, the core of the Niu Shou Holy Land. Walking into the interior, the ground part is a grand view of Zen. Wearing shoe covers, I walked into the underground palace and silently admired the Relic Hall. I was in the Thousand Buddha Hall and the Ten Thousand Buddha Corridor. I felt the insignificance of human beings in the rare shock. From the main hall to the underground, I walked into the ultimate destination of this trip, the Relics Hiding Palace. In the solemn and mysterious atmosphere, with a pious heart, I worshipped the Buddha's skull relic. For the first time, I felt that the Buddha was so close to us, but not far away. The flower offering ceremony began. The believers held lotus flowers in their hands and walked around the reclining Buddha in a clockwise circle, reciting Buddhist scriptures and praying for the Buddha's blessing. Tourists waiting for the performance also joined the believers. At the beginning of the performance, the Buddha slowly descended, and the lotus petals were accompanied by music, water mist, and lights. The Buddha slowly rose up, rising and falling, symbolizing the Buddha's enlightenment and death. I followed the music with my hands, put my five fingers together, looked up to the sky, and shouted "God bless you." Immersed in the virtual and the real, my thoughts also floated with it. The endless corridor, countless Buddha statues in various shapes and forms, are devout to the Buddha. The underground palace is the Buddha's top bone relic, which is protected by the red gold bone jade Zen bottle made of pure gold by the Buddhas during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, and is surrounded by eight hundred Arhats and all the gods and Buddhas. At this time, I asked for a bunch of incense, and wished the Buddha to bless. The light here is great, the sun is bright, and the wind is fine. I gave up the 20-minute drive to the foot of the mountain and experienced the elegance of traveling on the mountain road. After an hour and a half of bumpy travel, I finally caught the second-to-last bus before 6 o'clock. Looking back on the past time, I am still very proud. Especially after walking for 10 minutes, I had the urge to stop a car in the park. After countless explorations, I finally found that it really did not stop halfway. The Buddha's light shines, pushing me to a new journey. Today is over, how to describe this place.

Niu Shou Mountain Scenic Area was suggested by our host, and highly recommended by her Nanjing friend! But people like me who only know Zhongshan Mountain have no idea about it.

It is a great idea to hike up the mountain on a snowy day. Although the mountain bus has stopped running, it does not affect everyone's enthusiasm for hiking.

The scenic spot is so considerate that it even has an escalator. I used to be very disdainful of things like this. It was really inharmonious that a man-made elevator was built in the natural scenery. However, probably because I am getting older in recent years, I feel overwhelmed by playing too much. Having an elevator to help me is really a great help.

Although there are not many tourists going to Niu Shou Mountain, there are still quite a few. At least we had to queue for a while when we entered the mountain gate, but fortunately the scenic area is large enough and we can play freely. The only problem is that the lunch in the fast food restaurant was sold out, so we could only buy a few skewers of oden to fill our stomachs.

Tickets can be purchased online, and you can enter directly by swiping your ID card, which is very convenient. Friends with tour guide certificates can enter by swiping their electronic tour guide certificates, but there is no tour guide channel, so you have to queue up with ordinary tourists.

The architecture here is in imitation of the Tang Dynasty style, magnificent and with profound heritage, it feels extraordinary at first sight.

The facilities are relatively complete. There is a convenience store at the door with very affordable prices. The Red Cross first aid station is also nearby.

The scenic spot provides rental service for self-service audio guides. The full explanation time at the east entrance is about 3 hours, and the full explanation time at the Buddha's Head Holy Land is about 1.5 hours. The rental fee is 20 yuan/unit (deposit 200 yuan/unit). I think it is better to rent one. If you need a guide, the fee for the full explanation is 160 yuan/person, and the fee for the Buddha's Head Holy Land area is 95 yuan/person. You can take what you need.

It is recommended to take an electric car to enter the park. It is very tiring for young people like me to walk, and the scenic area is relatively large. If there are older people coming, it will probably be even more difficult.

There is a place to buy tickets at the door. It is better to buy unlimited tickets. Remember not to lose your ticket.

①Unlimited times: 20 yuan/person, you can ride at any station with the ticket, valid on the day;

② One-way ticket is 10 yuan/person. Tickets purchased are for boarding and will be invalid after getting off the bus.

3) Stations: There are 6 stations on the operating line: Niu Shou Station, Foding Temple Station, Tianque Station, Sanbao Station, Yinlong Lake Station, and Rong Coffee Baoxiang Lake Station. Niu Shou Station and Tianque Station are the terminus, and it is divided into the East Line and the West Line.

① East Line: Niu Shou Station - Foding Temple Station - Tianque Station - Yinlong Lake Station - Niu Shou Station (loop line)

② West Line: Tianque Station - Sanbao Station - Rong Coffee Baoxiang Lake Station (round trip)

4) For the convenience of tourists, the East Line has set up a drop-off point in the Buddha's Head Holy Land area. This drop-off point is for get-offs only and not for boarding. If you need to take a bus, please go to Tianque Station. However, it is just a little way next to it, so it is okay to walk there.

Since we only had one afternoon, the route this time was Niu Shou Square - Foding Temple - Foding Palace. Each section was about 1 kilometer long. In order to slowly experience the scenery along the way, we decided to walk all the way. Since most tourists would take a car, we felt a rare tranquility along the way. It was like a paradise away from the hustle and bustle, full of fairy spirit. Passing by the Foding Tower, the autumn wind blew over the wind chimes in front of us, making a pleasant and soothing sound. Walking out of the Foding Palace, seeing the tower of Hongjue Temple was also a special artistic conception. When we returned to pass the Foding Temple, it was already late, and the lights after nightfall were very beautiful.

Tips：

The entire Niu Shou Mountain Scenic Area covers a large area, and a complete tour can take a whole day. If time is limited, you can only go to the Foding Temple and Foding Palace.

You can take a bus inside the scenic area, 10 yuan for a single trip and 20 yuan for unlimited trips. The bus departs from Niu Shou Square and there are stops along the way. If you don't take a bus, you need to walk about 20 minutes from Niu Shou Square to Foding Temple, and then it takes about 20 minutes to walk from Foding Temple to Foding Palace.

Wang Dao took the opportunity to persuade the Emperor Yuan: "This is the Heavenly Tower. Why bother to change it?" Therefore, it is also named "Tianque Mountain". It is one of the four famous scenic spots in Jinling, along with Qinhuai River, Xuanwu Lake and Zijin Mountain.

Niu Shou Mountain is not very high, and the mountain road climbs very slowly. It is very comfortable to climb such a mountain. The building on the top of the mountain is very special. On the tables around are the prayer tools left by incense burners, such as lotus flowers and precious lamps, which make the temple seem bright even though there is no light.

There is a circular corridor outside the Thousand Buddha Hall, named "Ten Thousand Buddha Corridor". There are really ten thousand Buddhas. Every wall on both sides of the corridor is covered with Buddha statues, some are full-wall reliefs, some are whole sculptures, made of pottery, jade, and copper. With the colorful floor and ceiling, it really feels like the incomparable Buddhism.

【Foding Temple】It is mainly a courtyard-style layout, a typical imitation of Tang architecture: wood, tiles, bricks and stones. The eaves of the Buddhist temple hidden in the green jungle are more ancient and quaint, giving the illusion of accidentally entering Kyoto. People pray here and write down their daily wishes with piety.



Wind chimes were hung on both sides of the stairs leading to Wuyou Square. When the breeze blew, the crisp sound of the chimes was very pleasant to the ears.



【Buddha's Peak Palace】It is a deep pit building. The original site was a 150-meter abandoned mine formed by mining. The main building of the whole building has 9 floors, extending from the ground to the bottom, with a total of 6 floors. The first time I saw a deep pit building was the Shenkeng Hotel in Shanghai, and now this palace, which cost 4 billion yuan to build, is also shocking.

Just looking at the oval shape, it would make people think it is a giant durian, but it is actually a Mani dome with a lotus holding up the Buddha's hair bun. There is a large dome outside the small dome. If I didn't know, I would have thought it was a tree of life. In fact, its shape is like the Buddha's robe, which has a certain meaning of protection and infinite blessing. The combination of large and small domes forms a sacred image of "lotus dragging treasures". The light and shadow formed by the sunlight shining through the dome glass is like a "rain of light", which is magnificent.

The first thing you see when you enter the palace is a huge reclining Buddha statue: 7.5 meters long. Here, visitors can "borrow flowers to offer to Buddha". The Buddhist scriptures say: "Why are you beautiful in this life? Because you were a flower provider in the previous life." Believers in Buddhism can offer a lotus flower and make a wish: I hope that in the short practice of life, I can be as beautiful as a flower, be happy in the world, and cleanse my soul.

Then go to the bottom floor of the Buddha's Palace, you need to go down through the intertwined escalators layer by layer. The design of the dome should be derived from the Buddha's eye, bright and spiritual. The imitation holy pagoda enshrining the Buddha's skull relic is inlaid with the "seven treasures" of Buddhism such as gilt, crystal, glass, and gemstones. It combines dozens of traditional crafts such as bronze, gilt, cloisonné enamel, sculpture, and engraving, and is supplemented by laser projection, which is exquisite.

It is understood that there are two public opening days for the Buddha's parietal bone relics in March:

One day is March 14: the day when Buddha became a monk;

One day is March 21st: the day of Sakyamuni's Nirvana, that is, his birthday.

We went there in June 2011, and it had just rained. Niu Shou Mountain is near the school, and my classmates went there with seniors from other departments. It is said that there is a saying in Nanjing that "Niu Shou in spring and Qixia in autumn", and I feel that not many people come here. We went to Hongjue Temple and Zheng He's Tomb. Hongjue Temple requires a ticket, and the student ticket is 5 yuan. I don't know what it is like now. I just found out that the construction of the Buddha's Head Palace started shortly after we went there. I haven't been there since it was built. It seems that more than 1 billion yuan was spent. It feels like the Brahma Palace in Lingshan, Wuxi, which gives people a very magnificent impression. I still have to go and see it someday. The adult ticket price is 160. I really wish I were still a student.

I was stunned by the luxury of the Da Baoen Temple in the morning. In the afternoon, I arrived at the Niu Shou Mountain Buddha Palace and was stunned by the pile of money. Most of the underground palace has not been built yet. The built part is like the stage of a European opera, with water, electricity, smoke and other effects. I have never seen such a Buddhist temple. I guess the Buddha would never dare to live in it...

The ticket to Zheng He's Tomb is 20 yuan per ticket, and the half-price ticket is 10 yuan for students and children. I guess this place is not visited by many people except for cultural commemorative activities organized by the organization. Niu Shou Mountain is closed and cannot be entered. I had to come here with Feifei and Qingsong to take a look and learn some knowledge.

[Geographic location] Niu Shou Mountain is located on Ningdan Road in Jiangning, which is very easy to find. The transportation is not convenient, so it is suitable for you to drive there by yourself. Parking is also free, just try not to occupy the road.

The road on the mountain is well built, and the car can drive all the way to the top of the mountain. Looking at the green trees and flowers all over the mountain, it makes people feel relaxed and happy, throw away their worries and relax themselves, and make themselves completely relaxed physically and mentally. Admiring the ancient towers and temples with a long history makes people understand how long it has been! There is a small lake at the foot of the mountain, and there are many green plants and flowers by the lake. Many people like to take wedding photos here. And walking down the whole mountain road is not very tiring, because it is all asphalt roads, clean, sweating, and it really feels good. After crossing the mountain, there is a farmhouse opposite, where you can eat local dishes, and the price is not expensive.

The first choice for spring outing, because Nanjing has a saying that "Niu Shou in spring, Qixia in autumn". It is very convenient to take the subway S8, but it takes a little longer. It takes nearly 2 hours from the city to Niu Shoushan subway station, and it is less than 1,000 meters to get off the train. The lake and mountains are nice, the lake is clear, and it is an artificial lake, the source of the jasmine song. You can also climb the mountain, there is the Jinguan Zen Temple on it, you can also rent a car to circle around the lake, you can also rent a barbecue table next to the large lawn, and there are many peacocks in the bird garden. The forest coverage rate is high, and you can see a lot of green plants in spring, full of spring. Strolling in it, it is pleasant and comfortable. I went there on the weekend and saw many families coming here for spring outings, setting up tents, or laying tablecloths on the lawn.
