Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Music Stage

The Music Stage is located in the south of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Square. It was built in August 1933 and is mainly used for music performances and speeches at ceremonies to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen.
The architectural layout is the first of its kind in my country. The entire plane is semicircular, with the stage in the center and a large arc-shaped screen wall behind the stage to gather sound waves.
There is a crescent-shaped lotus pond in front of the stage, with a hidden spring at the bottom. In front of the pond is a semicircular lawn, where the audience can sit and enjoy the singing and dancing.
The surrounding area is covered with green grass, shaded by weeping willows and towering white poplars. There are many white pigeons at the music stand. You can buy feed at the music stand to feed these cute little elves.

The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Music Stage is located in the southeast of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Square in the Purple Mountain Zhongshan Scenic Area, Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It was built from 1932 to 1933, covering an area of about 4,200 square meters. It was designed by Guan Songsheng and Yang Tingbao, and construction began in the autumn of 1932 and was completed in August 1933. The music stage is a supporting project of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, mainly used for music performances and rally speeches during ceremonies to commemorate Mr. Sun Yat-sen.

The architectural style of the music platform is a combination of Chinese and Western styles. It fully absorbs the characteristics of ancient Greek architecture in terms of utilizing the natural environment, plane layout and facade modeling, while the details of buildings such as the screen wall and the music platform are expressed in the form of classical gardens in the south of the Yangtze River in China. This creates an open and grand space effect and an artistic style of exquisite carvings, achieving a perfect harmony between nature and architecture.

The music platform is located in the southeast of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Square. The architectural layout is the first of its kind in my country. The entire plane is semicircular, with the stage in the center, covering an area of nearly 250 square meters. Behind the stage is a large curved screen wall, 11.3 meters high and 16.7 meters wide, which has the function of gathering sound. There is a crescent-shaped lotus pond in front of the stage. A fan-shaped auditorium is built along the slope in front of the pond, which can accommodate more than 3,000 spectators. It is mainly used for music performances and assembly speeches during the ceremony to commemorate Mr. Sun Yat-sen. The architectural style of the music platform is a combination of Chinese and Western styles. In terms of utilizing the natural environment, plane layout and facade modeling, it fully absorbs the characteristics of ancient Greek architecture, while in the details of buildings such as the screen wall and the music platform, the expression form of Chinese Jiangnan classical gardens is adopted. The first thing that catches your eye is the distinctive fan-shaped design. Surrounded by white Romanesque buildings, the tall stone pillars are solemn and elegant, as if telling stories of the past.

By Dry Skiing |

The music stand is very beautiful. It is fan-shaped. Many pigeons fly up and down in a peaceful manner. The place is not big but it is very humane and imposing. I like the music stand the most in the entire Zhongshan Scenic Area.

By Wandering Sleeper |

The music stand is located next to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Zhongshan Scenic Area. Tickets are sold separately for 10 yuan per person. There are many pigeons inside. Pigeon food is 5 yuan per bag, which contains dry corn kernels, etc. It is voluntary to buy. Pigeons will fly to where there is food. If you have food in your hands, the pigeons will land on your shoulders, arms, and head. At most, there can be three or four pigeons on one person. The music stand itself is also very artistic. I strongly recommend this place. It is worth a visit alone. You can also go there when you visit Purple Mountain and Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.

There is also a music platform to the south of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, covering an area of about 4,200 square meters. The music platform is a supporting project of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, mainly used for music performances and rally speeches during the ceremony to commemorate Mr. Sun Yat-sen. In front of the stage is a crescent-shaped lotus pond with a hidden spring at the bottom of the pond. In front of the pond is a semicircular lawn, which is a place for the audience to enjoy singing and dancing, and can accommodate 3,000 spectators. The lawn is surrounded by a cement corridor, and the corridor is covered with wisteria and other flowers and trees, which is a good place for tourists to rest and cool off. There are many white pigeons on the music platform now, and you can buy feed to feed these lovely white pigeons at the music platform. The architectural style of the music platform is a combination of Chinese and Western styles. The sun was shining, and sometimes it rained heavily. Climbing mountains, slopes, and towers made me question my life. [Sad face] But the scenery at the top still made me not regret the journey.

By N. Tutu |

There are more people than pigeons, it's noisy, nothing to see, and the queues take a long time. Not very interesting.

By The falling little crab |

The most distinctive scenic spot in Zhongshan Scenic Area. It is tasteful and artistic. Remember, don't go there after it rains.

By Mai Josetsu |

You can listen to music, look at the fountain and feed the pigeons. Pigeon food is 5 yuan per bag.

By China-TravelNote users |

It feels very ordinary, but the ticket price is very cheap. Since I'm here, I have to buy a bag. It counts as a visit.

By 00LL |

If you plan to spend a day in Zhongshan and check in at all the scenic spots, you can buy a combined ticket that includes the music stand. You can still go in and take a look. The entrance is diagonally opposite the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum after going down the mountain.

At the music station, the background music was always some classical music, and the sound effect was good, but it was too cold, and my hands holding the camera were a little red from the cold. Seeing that the time was almost up, I left the music station

The Nanjing Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Music Platform was built in the early 1930s. It was mainly used for music performances and speeches at ceremonies to commemorate Mr. Sun Yat-sen. It is a supporting project of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. Now it is a tourist attraction with many peace doves. The pigeons are not afraid of people at all. As long as you stretch out your hand, they will fly to your arm. The single ticket is 10 yuan, and the Ming Xiaoling package includes this attraction.

By Yellow peach cake 🍰 |

From the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, you can walk a short distance to the Music Stand, which is mainly used for music performances and conference speeches during commemorative ceremonies for Sun Yat-sen. Now, small forest concerts are often held here. There are many pigeons on the arc-shaped square, which is very pleasant in the afternoon sun. The ticket for the Music Stand is 10 yuan, and you can also buy a panoramic scenic area package for 100 yuan in the scenic area (including Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum 70 yuan; Linggu Temple Scenic Area 35 yuan; Music Stand 10 yuan; Meiling Palace 30 yuan).

By Danny |

Walking out of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, I was attracted by the words "Forest Concert" on the opposite side of the music stand. Based on the principle of "I'm here, I'll go and see it", I unexpectedly liked this small attraction. The small square hidden deep in the trees is full of tranquility. Following the path down is the music stand square. Groups of white pigeons fly among the crowd, not afraid of tourists approaching. Children compete to feed the pigeons, laughing happily, which is also very comfortable to watch.

By Rabbit Porridge |

The music platform is located next to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and is mainly used for music performances and speeches during ceremonies to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen. It is surrounded by green trees that tower into the sky.

It is very spacious, with both the exquisiteness of Jiangnan gardens and the style of ancient Greek architecture, a combination of Chinese and Western styles. The Music Stage Square is semicircular in shape, with a very symmetrical beauty.

The next thing that came into view was the pigeons scattered everywhere.

Looking around, white doves were flying up and down. When I was sitting in my seat and looking at the pigeons under my feet, suddenly, a group of pigeons rose up from behind me, flew over my head, across their stage - the sky, and then circled and landed on the big screen wall of the music platform. It was spectacular! The pigeons, symbolizing peace and happiness, are the most unique scenery of this music platform.

By Wang Dake 🤔 |

Opposite to Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, it is not big and has many pigeons. You can buy feed to feed them if you like. Pigeons are not afraid of people and will stand on your shoulders.

By IreneZ_Wang Mumu |

When you come out of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, you will see the music platform across the street. The music platform is under renovation now, so there are not many sights. There are many pigeons, and they are not afraid of people. You can buy food to feed the pigeons, 5 yuan a bag, and they will fly to your body and arms. Be careful that they will poop on you.

The bandstand is a place where you feed pigeons. It's a place that you can see in less than a minute, but they still charge an entrance fee, and you don't even need a tour guide certificate.

By Guo Xiaopang |

Today I went to Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and happened to see the music stand. I had never been there before, so I went to check it out. A group of white pigeons attracted me, and the layout of the music stand was really grand. Now on the music stand, I felt like a great musician. Next time I must come here to watch the forest concert.

By Let go |

It can be seen in many movies and TV shows. The ups and downs of the peace dove also tell the difficulties and ups and downs of the pursuit of peace. Although I didn't listen to the music here, sitting quietly under the shade of the tree and listening to the music in my heart is also a great enjoyment.

By _ciaolajiao |

To put it bluntly, this place is a place to watch pigeons. Hahahaha. At first, the pigeon smell was very strong. Later, I got used to it.

By Jeongrin |

The music stand is next to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. When I walked in, I found a lot of pigeons. There was a silly pigeon that always thought I had food in my hand and cooperated with me. There is a fountain in the middle of the music stand, but it sprays very little water. It is a good place to rest with music.

By crow |

The ticket price is 10 yuan, half price for seniors, so I went inside to sit for a while. They are all feeding pigeons. A bag of feed costs 2 yuan. Many people took photos.

By Yarui |

The music stand is very beautiful, and it must be very pleasant to listen to a concert there. I bought pigeon food specially, but the enthusiasm of the little pigeons scared me. Later, I couldn't drive them away. Even if there was no food, they kept lying on my arms. But I have to say that it is really beautiful when the pigeons fly together.

By I want omelette without egg |

🐦It's really cute. If you raise the pigeon food higher, they will fly onto your hands and shoulders.

By Tree climbing fish |

There will be a special pigeon show at 2:30 pm. Unfortunately, we were afraid that we would not have enough time to play, so we just took a look at the pigeons' rehearsal and left.

By Linxi |

I personally think that the music stand is nothing to see, just a lot of circular seats and nice pigeons. But since I bought a package ticket, I still came to take a look.

By elias |

A little girl who likes pigeons - I like this place very much. The ticket is only 10 yuan. It is very quiet when I go there in the morning. There is only the sound of music and pigeons flapping their wings. It is very quiet and beautiful!!!

By Non-remainder czj |

The ticket is 10 yuan, and because our package includes it, we can scan the code to enter the park, which is very convenient. The lawn and steps in the park are full of tourists. We just saw the legendary pigeons spread their wings and fly high, circling back and forth above our heads in the park. The scene is beautiful and spectacular. From time to time, children buy two yuan a bag of food to feed the pigeons. Locals bring their children here and bring a large bag of rice grains to feed the pigeons. It is more economical than the 2 yuan a bag of food and more fun. We were also happy to bask in the sun on the lawn and take a nap. We stayed at the music stand for about 2 hours.

By Dry light rain |

It is a scenic spot that is worth visiting. Even if you don't buy a package ticket, it is strongly recommended to spend 10 yuan to go there. There is nothing special about the music stand itself, but when hundreds of white pigeons circle and take off above the music stand, it is really beautiful. You can also buy pigeon food to feed the pigeons, 2 yuan a bag, which is not expensive. Of course, you can also bring your own bread and steamed buns to feed them.

By Two eggs Chr |

There is a patch of wisteria flowers at the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Music Platform, which is in full bloom. There is pigeon food for sale at the entrance for 2 yuan per bag. Pigeons are still a little afraid of people, so feeding them requires some patience and don't chase them.

By pee |

After coming down from the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, there is the music platform. This is included in the package ticket. There is nothing inside, just pigeons that can be fed. I heard that there was a concert there a while ago, but unfortunately I missed it. The trees here are very beautiful, and the sunset makes it very beautiful for taking photos

By Li Jingamo |

If there is no performance, you can only see a stage with many pigeons next to it, and everyone can feed them!

By Children from the stars |

The music stand is opposite the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. It is very small, just a semicircular square, and there are many pigeons. There is pigeon food for two yuan a bag. When feeding, they will land on your hands and shoulders, and occasionally fly to the stand when music is played. Well, it is not worth going.

By Meet Sisi |

When I first entered the music stand, there was a large cement platform with cement seats on all sides and pigeons scattered around. I was a little disappointed, thinking that was it. But when the music started, all the pigeons immediately took off in a well-trained group, flying towards the music stand. I happened to be standing on the music stand, and I was so scared by the group of pigeons that I immediately squatted on the ground and held my head (which was also very embarrassing).

By Jenny |

The architectural layout of the music stand is the first of its kind in my country. It is located in the south of Zhongshan Square and was built in 1932. The entire plane is semicircular and has a reinforced concrete structure. Tickets are 10 yuan each and you can also buy a combined ticket. There are many pigeons to feed inside, and it is a good place to take photos. The food for pigeons is 2 yuan per bag. If you have time, you can stay for a while and feel the doves of peace.

Last year's Forest Music Festival was planned to be held here, designed by architects Guan Songsheng and Yang Yanbao. The ticket price is 10 yuan, and there are many white pigeons, feeding them costs 2 yuan. The scenic spot is not big, and it is very suitable for one to meditate alone in the evening.

By Iceforsnow |

You can see the music platform when you walk out of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. Although the music platform is not big, it has a wide view, surrounded by trees, and pigeons flying around, which makes you feel relaxed and happy at a glance. Music is often played on the music platform, and the fountain sprays with the rhythm. Another interesting thing is the pigeons here. The pigeons are not afraid of people. You can buy some pigeon food and play with the pigeons~

By Quiet Dawn |

The music stand is adjacent to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, southeast of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Square. After coming out of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, walk down along a small path. There is a sign for the scenic area. There are only a few pigeons and a lawn inside. I personally don't think it's interesting and there's no need to go out of your way to see it.

By Zhu Xiaonan |

We went there in winter, so the grass was all yellow, but my friend really wanted to go, so I went with her. The 10 yuan ticket was just to see a flock of pigeons.

By xyxhaidi |

It is best to bring children there. There are many pigeons. It is best to prepare some bread crumbs or something like that to feed the pigeons.

By Bai Xubo |

It is just a platform with a fountain in front of it. It is on the road between Linggu Temple and Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. I saw it on the way. It is suitable for a rest point between the two places. There are so many pigeons... The pigeons are well fed...

By Shallow palm prints |

The music platform is actually next to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. We didn't know it at first, so we took a bus back to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum after visiting the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. The music platform is a semicircle from a bird's eye view. The center of the circle is the stage, and there is a large wall behind the stage, which is the same principle as the Beijing Echo Wall to collect sound waves. The only difference is that the lawn is very bad, basically a piece of mud, and there is a group of pigeons for tourists to feed.

By alawis |

I think this place is quite interesting. I have a ticket, so I didn't care about the price. The most important and fun part is feeding the pigeons. Because I brought snacks with me, I had a lot of fun. Sometimes there were more than ten pigeons landing on me, but it was inevitable that some dirt on the ground would be brought on. The food sold in the scenic area for feeding pigeons is 10 yuan per portion, which is not much. I gave all the food I couldn't finish to the children. I suggest buying a ticket to visit the entire Zhongshan Scenic Area. It costs 100 yuan per ticket and you can play for a whole day. Due to time constraints, I missed the Meiling Palace. It's a pity. I suggest friends who go there can take a tour bus and walk all the way. I walked more than 35,000 steps and was exhausted.

By Go your own way |

The music platform is located in the south of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Square. It was built between 1932 and 1933 with donations from overseas Chinese living in San Francisco and the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Kuomintang.

Above Expectation

It's less than 300 meters from Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. The weather is great and there are many people and pigeons. I think it's worth a 10-yuan ticket to come in and experience it.

By It's cool in autumn |

I went there in January 2016. This scenic spot is smaller than I expected and looks a bit shabby. If you are interested, you can buy some bird food to feed the pigeons. There is an audience seat area, but it is too dirty, full of pigeon feces. It is a place you can go or not, and it is not a pity to miss it. I think it is just a retro pigeon farm.

By Crazy snail |

When I went there, I happened to see students from Nanjing University of the Arts rehearsing a show. It was like watching a performance for ten yuan. 😊

By Natural |

Going down from the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is the music stage, but not many people go there.

If by chance you can see the performance at the music station, you are lucky.

Accompanied by music, fountains, and white doves flying or foraging here, it feels lazy.

When I went there, I happened to catch a group of white pigeons being released, which was spectacular, but unfortunately I didn't catch them. You can buy pigeon food to feed the pigeons, but you have to be prepared to be pooped on by pigeons, although the probability of this is very low.

When I went there, the grass that should have been green and lush was now much balder.

The Music Platform is located next to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. It was built in 1933 and was used for music performances and speeches at ceremonies to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Today, it has become a good place for leisure photography. The biggest highlight here is the pigeons. They are a group of dancers of nature, rising or falling, taking off collectively, or flying around to the rhythm of the music.

Next to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, you can see it as soon as you get off the bus. The most noteworthy thing here is the pigeons. There are so many pigeons and they are not afraid of people. There is a crescent-shaped lotus pond in front of the stage, and a semicircular lawn in front of the pond, which can accommodate 3,000 spectators. The lawn is surrounded by a cement corridor, which is a good place for tourists to rest and cool off.
