The predecessor of the university can be traced back to Nanjing Imperial College in the first year of Yong'an in the Han Dynasty. It has undergone many changes in history and is the first modern university in China.

It snowed heavily for three consecutive days, so I went to Nanjing University for a stroll on the last day of my solo trip to Nanjing.
There is still some snow, which makes Nanjing University more beautiful. There were not many people when I came that day. I should say very few. I dragged my suitcase into the campus and was almost interviewed by a few young men. They thought I was a student who returned to school early. Hahaha.
I wandered around the campus casually and took pictures whenever I saw nice views. It was snowing, so it was still quite cold, but the architecture of Nanjing University is indeed very distinctive.
Every time I visit a campus, I have a different feeling~
I don't understand why it exists as a tourist attraction... You can only walk around the exterior walls of many buildings. The only ones open to the public are the School History Museum and several celebrity residences. The iconic North Building, West Building, etc. can only be viewed from the exterior walls, which is a bit disappointing... I think you can skip it if you are short on time.
If you want to understand what Nanjing University is like, you should go to school there to truly experience its scenery. I envy Nanjing University students for being able to study in such an old school with a history of more than 100 years.
Whenever I go to a city, I usually take my kids to the best local universities. Nanjing University is easy to enter. We rented shared bikes, but the whole campus feels a little dirty. Especially the Pearl S. Buck Memorial Hall. There is no obvious sign and it is not easy to find. The door is not open. I don’t know if it is due to the time. The area in front of the memorial hall is also very dirty. The balcony of the Zhongshan Building is full of wood garbage, which is a pity. Only the John Rabe Memorial Hall looks like a small tourist attraction. It seems that there are not many tourists in this university. We walked around for a while and then came out.
When you get off Yunnan Road Station on Metro Line 4, you will see Beijing West Road on Ginkgo Avenue.
Walk around and take a look. There is heavy traffic, so don't take pictures in the middle of the road.
Go to Nanjing University first. If you still have time after visiting, you can go to the Republic of China Mansion on Yihe Road nearby.
I guess the students in school are oblivious to the scenery before them.
A few years after graduation, I felt the university atmosphere again, which brought back the throbbing of youth, especially the various athletic people on the playground.
The viewing period of ginkgo trees has come to an end.
Since we went there late, it was already night and most places were dark and we couldn't see clearly, which was a bit regrettable.
But the darkness makes the distance between people blurred.
When I was a middle school student preparing for the college entrance examination, people from small places must visit university campuses if they have the opportunity, and they may be touched. I had never been there before, and had no idea what a university was. Later, I came to Nanjing in a daze and came into contact with these things.
There are a lot of cats nearby, so I brought some sausages to feed them because I can’t afford cat food.
Get off at Zhujiang Road Station on Line 1 and go through the main entrance.
The back door of Nanjing University (Gulou Campus) is Beijing West Road (Gingko Avenue), the northwest is the Yihe Mansion, the west and south is Nanjing Normal University Suiyuan Campus, and the east is Southeast University Sipailou Campus. The distances to these locations are all within 2,000 meters.
I don't know much about the access control system that was implemented on a trial basis in September this year. However, you can go in and walk around for an hour or two and come out freely at around 5 or 6 pm on Friday night and 11 or 12 pm on Saturday.
Free ticket, no registration.
These schools generally have buildings from the Republic of China period.
We also met a couple taking wedding photos. I don’t know if they were students of our school.
It has been three or four years since graduation. When I visit these campuses and reminisce about my past, everything has changed. Even if we get together again, we can never go back to the carefree days of the past.
I became nostalgic too early, too much, and realized too early that everyone has their own path.
Nanjing University Gulou Campus is located in the central area of Nanjing, in Gulou District, adjacent to Gulou Square in the center of Nanjing. Hankou Road divides Gulou Campus into South Park and North Park. South Park is the student dormitory living area, and North Park is the teaching and research area, covering an area of nearly 800 acres. Nanjing University Gulou Campus is the site of the former Jinling University. The area around Jinling Garden in North Park is a group of traditional Chinese style buildings, among which the North Building has become the landmark building of Nanjing University.
Nanjing University, referred to as "Nanjing University", is a university with a long history. The ancient school can be traced back to the Nanjing Imperial College in the first year of the Yong'an period of the Three Kingdoms period. The modern history of the school began with the Sanjiang Normal School established in 1902. After many changes, in 1949, the "National Central University" was renamed "National Nanjing University", and the following year it was simply called "Nanjing University", which has been used to this day. However, I personally feel that the National Central University sounds good. You can immediately feel the heavy sense of history from the campus.
The old campus is located to the north of Beijing West Road and to the south of Guangzhou Road. It is about a fifteen-minute walk from Xinjiekou. It is located in a bustling area, but the alarm clock is taken from the camera and has a very rich cultural heritage.
The Gulou Campus of Nanjing University is located in the central area of Nanjing, in Gulou District, adjacent to the Gulou Square in the center of Nanjing. Hankou Road divides the Gulou Campus into South Park and North Park. The South Park is the student dormitory living area, and the North Park is the teaching and research area, covering an area of nearly 800 acres.
The Drum Tower Campus of Nanjing University is the former site of Jinling University. The area around the North Park Jinling Garden is a complex of traditional Chinese-style buildings, among which the North Building has become the landmark building of Nanjing University.
The Nanjing University campus has a strong historical and academic atmosphere, and the natives of Zhejiang University's Zijingang expressed envy.
Because of the conference, this Nanjing kid finally walked into the upscale Nanjing. The North District is quite quiet, like a besieged city.
I came to my alma mater. It is one of the best universities in Jiangnan area. I came to see the cherry blossoms during the cherry blossom season. They are so beautiful.
I like this place very much. It reminds me of Soochow University. The campus has a century-old history and the museum exhibition hall inside is also worth a visit.
The Gulou Campus of Nanjing University is one of the three major campuses of Nanjing University and the site of the former Jinling University, a national key cultural relic protection unit. In 1952, Nanjing University moved from Sipailou to Gulou, and the Gulou Campus became the main campus of Nanjing University until the opening of the Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University.
I went in through the side door and walked around for a long time before I reached the main entrance. The corridor of the teaching building has a Nordic style. Walking down one floor, there are several students studying in almost every classroom.
It was drizzling when I went there, and the weather was bad, which affected my mood during the visit. It would be even better on a sunny afternoon. The green grass in front of the main building is really beautiful with the building covered with ivy.
Quaint building.
Because school was in session on Tuesday, I didn’t stay in NTU for too long.
NCU is not far from Pioneer Bookstore and can be reached on foot.
A school with a sense of history, where students study and communicate under the ivy-covered teaching building.
It's worth a visit to experience the bookish atmosphere of the campus
It's worth a visit to experience the bookish atmosphere of the campus
Nanjing University is very large. It takes two or three hours to walk around it slowly. There are also some old buildings with an ancient Jiangnan charm.
Nanjing University in autumn is as beautiful as any other scenic spot in Nanjing. It combines the style of the Republic of China with the splendor of autumn, and there are scenery everywhere.
Recommended playing time: 1 hour
The buildings inside have a sense of history, and the monuments in some corners of the campus carry a lot of history. It is really easy to calm down and study in such a campus.
Nanjing University, a university hidden in the forest.
The Gulou campus of Nanjing University has a strong historical atmosphere and dense trees. There is no need for sunshade in the school. My friend took me to eat wontons in the cafeteria. The shepherd's purse and fresh meat tasted good.
To be exact, the place we think is very quaint should be Jinling University Hall. Nanjing University is not big, but it is quaint and has the charm of Nanjing.
The legendary university of other people's families, with abundant green plants and rich cultural heritage.
The living area of Nanjing University is very large, with supermarkets, barber shops, and restaurants. The main campus has a very nice green environment, plenty of shade, and a good architectural style. But unfortunately, I didn't dare to go in because I seemed to have classes and exams.
"So Young" brought fame to Nanjing University. The quiet campus will always leave something for you. The breath of youth is the memory of you and me!
Nanjing Normal University tends to prefer classical palace architecture, which is very beautiful and you can go and have a look.
Tips
transportation:
To get from Nanjing Presidential Palace to Nanjing University, take bus No. 65 at Presidential Palace Station and get off at Shanghai Road · Beijing West Road Station, then walk 310 meters to arrive.
The buildings are all from the Republic of China, and the old but historical teaching buildings tell people that this city is introverted but full of heritage.
It’s my first time to visit NTU. I’m so happy. The teaching building is full of the style of the Republic of China.
As a person with poor academic performance, I naturally feel awe and respect for famous universities.
Nanjing University, formerly known as Central University, has a comprehensive strength that should not be underestimated. If the capital is located in Nanjing, it should be a good match for Tsinghua University and Peking University~~ Because it is a central university, the school is also simple and pleasant, solemn and generous~~
Worth seeing is the Zhongshan Building, which was the former residence of Sun Yat-sen when he served as the provisional president.
Pearl S. Buck's former residence and He Yingqin's former residence (Doujizha) are also on campus. In the southeast corner of the campus is John Rabe's former residence, where the famous John Rabe Diary was written.
There aren't many tall buildings in the area, and the buildings are all very old, but they are full of atmosphere and give people a sense of peace. From time to time, you'll see students taking graduation photos and some cats eating grass in the grass.
If you miss school life and like the quiet atmosphere of school, Nanjing University Gulou Campus is a must-see. Recommendation index: 4 stars. Recommended time: 3 hours. Free admission.
This is a prestigious school with a long history and excellent reputation. It gives me a sense of calmness, grandeur and talent, and I can't help but respect it.
The side of the auditorium is covered with creepers. I couldn't help but make various shapes, hoping to leave a trace of my presence in front of the green background. After coming to NTU, I suddenly fell in love with creepers.
Retro buildings, green walls, and drooping branches of camphor trees; this is the feeling of Nanjing University, this is also the dignified demeanor, and this is the rich historical heritage of Nanjing University.
Nanjing University is really an enviable place. I really want to study here! !
After lunch break, I rode my bike around the campus. The North Building and other buildings were built in 1919, a popular check-in spot. Because it was graduation season, I saw many people taking graduation photos. Among them, a group of Korean girls had really sweet voices, which was very impressive!!!
It was the time for NTU’s 116th anniversary celebration and graduation photo shooting, the campus became particularly lively and there were many activities.
Nanjing University is very beautiful and has a huge number of lectures. I originally wanted to attend a macroeconomics lecture, but gave up because of time constraints.
The souvenir shop opposite the gate of NTU has NTU’s exclusive stamp!
The teaching buildings in Nanjing University are very historic, and you can see medical students wearing uniforms on the campus roads. It was graduation season, and students in bachelor's gowns were taking graduation photos in front of the auditorium. Even the bulletin boards on campus, with posters in pure English, made me, a student of the same university, feel the gap between schools.
There were newlyweds taking wedding photos on Central Avenue. The North Building is a famous scenic spot. I checked in and met a young lady who was also hanging out. We took photos of each other and had a lot of fun.
The main entrance is at Hankou Road. It is said that tourists can only enter through the main entrance. I don't know if it is true or not. You can go in and visit after saying hello.
I accidentally passed by Nanjing University, it was so beautiful.
Even the trees are so charming.
I arrived at Nanjing University around noon. I first saw Nanjing University in the movie "So Young", but after I actually walked into the gate of Nanjing University, looking at the rows of banners, the scene of freshmen in the 1990s dragging their suitcases into the school emerged in my mind. It was very touching.
We rode around Nanjing University on the shared yellow bikes without stopping to take our time to experience the place.
The North Building of the Gulou Campus is a landmark of Nanjing University. This Western-style brick and wood structure has been used since the Republic of China. When you see the North Building, you will feel like you want to take it home. However, the high-rise buildings behind it are a bit out of tune with the overall building, but this may be a special portrayal of a modern city.
I don’t know if we went to the wrong place, this university is very different from the pictures we saw online.
Take Line 1 to Xuanwu Lake Station, exit from Exit 5 and walk a short distance to the North Gate 3 of Nanjing University. There are many blue bikes on campus, so we rode them while strolling and taking pictures. It is so beautiful. I even saw some alumni who came back specifically to take wedding videos.
It rained a lot during the Qingming Festival, but the scenery of Nanjing University is still beautiful
Nanjing University was founded in 1902, when Sanjiang Normal School was being planned. The primary source of Nanjing University is Central University, and the secondary source is Jinling University, which was merged into the university in 1952. Jinling University was founded as Huiwen College in 1888 and merged with Nanjing University in 1952, a total of 64 years.
Come out and play daily and visit other people's universities.
It's really big, I only visited half of the school. The scenery of the old campus is very beautiful, with lush greenery.
This was the university I longed for back then, and I liked the feeling it gave me.
Nanjing University is located in the ancient capital of Jinling, which is rich in natural beauty and has a long history and a great reputation. Nanjing University Gulou Campus is one of the three campuses of Nanjing University. It is located in the central area of Nanjing, in Gulou District, and is adjacent to the Gulou Square in the center of Nanjing. Nanjing University Gulou Campus is the site of the former site of Jinling University. The area around the North Park Jinling Garden is a group of traditional Chinese style buildings, among which the North Building has become the landmark building of Nanjing University.

Nanjing University Gulou Campus is the site of the former Jinling University. The area around Beiyuan Jinling Garden is a group of traditional Chinese style buildings, among which the Bei Building has become the landmark building of Nanjing University. Zhao Wei's "So Young" was also filmed in the Bei Building. In the film, Chen Xiaozheng walked down the stairs holding a stack of books and met Zheng Wei on the campus. Chen Xiaozheng said, "I don't want to see you again." This scene was right next to the lawn under the Bei Building.
Nanjing University: After leaving the Presidential Palace, I took a taxi to Nanjing University. The Nanjing University here refers to the Drum Tower Campus, where famous attractions such as the North Building, the Stele, and the Zhongshan Building are concentrated. It was winter, so I couldn't see the creepers all over the wall, and I couldn't smell the rich fragrance of osmanthus. But what was particularly surprising was that there were many stray cats in Nanjing University and they were not afraid of people. If you greeted them, they would stroll up to you, rub your legs, and meow. I couldn't help but touch them and found that they were really fat (it might also be because I touched a big orange cat). It can be seen that the students of Nanjing University must be very friendly to small animals, and tourists also like them, allowing these cats to grow freely in Nanjing University without worries. Suddenly I thought of the Internet celebrity cats in the Forbidden City. I hope that the cats in Nanjing University can also become a landscape.
I went to the beautiful Nanjing University in May 2015, just a few days before the school anniversary. This kind of corridor covered with vines seems to be found in many universities in China, it is really beautiful. There is green grass everywhere, a beautiful campus. There is also a flat and wide road on the campus, where students walk or ride bicycles. This is exactly the university life I yearn for! Unfortunately, my university only has one slope after another under the scorching sun. It is worthy of being the Kent Ridge Technical School. The students on the hill really envy Nanjing University. This kind of road is not only found in Nanjing University, but also in Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, National Taiwan University and many other colleges, but not in Kent Ridge Technical School.
Each school is set up in the same buildings, including dormitories, canteens, teaching buildings, libraries, laboratory buildings, administrative buildings, etc. Different planning and different experiences have given these schools their own characteristics. For most people who have experienced the college entrance examination, Nanjing University is first of all a difficult institution of higher learning. Entering from the school gate of Hankou Road, there are sturdy and tall sycamore trees on both sides of Zhongda Road. The sycamore trees seem to have a special fate with the city of Nanjing. In the season of lush branches and leaves, they also shade this straight campus road, like a green tunnel. There is also the famous North Building of Nanjing University, which was built in 1917. The turbulent times and the collision and fusion of Eastern and Western cultures can be found in the architectural appearance and architectural style of the North Building. There is a towering tower in the middle of the entire building, which should be a typical style of Western architecture, like the tower of the church we see most often. The hip roof and flying eaves ridge decorations of the entire building are obviously Chinese style. The ivy wrapped around the exterior wall of the entire building shows a heavy sense of age. It has become a landmark building of Nanjing University. Tourists come and go from time to time, and like us, take photos in front of the North Building.
When I go to a place, I like to visit its university. Nanjing University was founded in 1902 and is a university with a long history. The trees on campus have a long history. There are many food places in front of the school, including a "century-old noodle restaurant". Although it is not very eye-catching, the noodles are delicious. Recommended.
The Drum Tower Campus of Nanjing University is the former site of Jinling University (a church university founded by Americans in 1910). The area around the North Park Jinling Garden is a complex of traditional Chinese-style buildings. The North Building was built in 1917, and this year marks its 100th anniversary! The building was built with Ming Dynasty wall bricks. It was originally the bell tower of Jinling University and has now become a landmark building of Nanjing University.
As a century-old university, Nanjing University is worth a visit to feel the youthful vitality of young people, as if you have returned to college. The most important thing is that the scenery on campus is very beautiful...
Nanjing University is a university with a long history. It can be traced back to Nanjing Imperial College in the first year of Emperor Yong'an of the Wu Dynasty. Its modern history began with the establishment of Sanjiang Normal School in 1902. After many changes, the "National Central University" was renamed "National Nanjing University" in 1949, and then changed to "Nanjing University", which is still used today. The school has a beautiful environment and many historical sites. The management of tourists is not as strict as that of Peking University and Tsinghua University, and you can stroll around the campus.
I went to Nanjing last October and immediately fell in love with this misty and rainy place with plane trees everywhere. I liked Nanjing University even more. The architectural style of the whole university is simple and charming, full of antique flavor. I really like these buildings. The campus environment is super great. What's interesting is that there are many chubby kittens on the campus of Nanjing University. I saw three or four along the way. It seems that Nanjing University students are super loving. The souvenir shop at the entrance of the campus sells postcards of Nanjing University for ten yuan a box. I bought two boxes as a souvenir.
I went to Nanjing University with some friends, and the campus is nice to walk around!
The academic atmosphere is strong. I went there during the National Day holiday. There were fewer people and fewer students. The attractions were much more beautiful than those with more people.
The campus of Nanjing University's Gulou Campus completely exceeded my expectations. The unique color matching and architectural style of the Republic of China period and the large lawn in front of the house highlight the rich history and profound heritage of this institution of higher learning.
It is also a good choice to go there in autumn when the leaves are all over the ground. It is very beautiful.
It’s a university, so you can still go and take a look, haha.
The campus is full of history and very peaceful.
It's very beautiful and worth a visit. It's the filming location of the movie Youth
The environment is simple and quiet, and the architecture is basically in the style of the Republic of China.
Nanjing University's Gulou Campus is an old campus and worth a visit; the Xianlin Campus is very remote and a new campus, and its features are similar to those of other universities.
If the Gulou campus is in autumn, with the fallen leaves of the sycamore trees, it will be more unique and moving. In summer, there is only one word: sunbathing. Another word: hot.
The North Building will be backlit in the afternoon, so it is not easy to take pictures. I suggest you go there in the morning, when the pictures will look much better and it is also convenient to edit the pictures.
You can enter and exit the main entrance of Gulou Campus at will, but you need to swipe your campus card to enter the side entrance. There are students studying in the classroom, so it is not recommended to disturb them. Just take a look outside.
The ancient Nanjing University has beautiful scenery and has cultivated many national pillars
I like the architecture of Nanda University. The lush ivy seems to be synonymous with youth.
Nanjing University's Hankou Road Campus is its old campus, with some ancient buildings from the Republic of China.
It is suitable for young people with artistic ambitions and primary school students. It only takes an hour to visit the whole place. You need to walk a distance and enter from the south gate.
As a university that carries the dreams of many candidates and their parents, NTU naturally attracts a lot of attention. Even I, a senior student who has graduated for two years, want to take classes and experience the knowledge and humor of NTU professors.
Nanjing University, you can only enter from the main gate without a student card. The century-old building covered with ivy is really artistic.
Nanjing University, referred to as Nanda, is a university with a long history. Its ancient history can be traced back to Nanjing Imperial College in the first year of Yong'an in the reign of Emperor Sun Wu. Its modern history began with the establishment of Sanjiang Normal School in 1902. After many changes, the name of "National Central University" was changed to "National Nanjing University" in 1949, and it was renamed "Nanjing University" the following year, which has been used ever since.
Nanjing University is a national key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province. It is one of the first batch of "211 Project" and "985 Project" universities in the country, and one of the first batch of universities implementing the "Everest Project", "111 Project", "2011 Project" and "Excellence Project". It is also an important member of the Nine Schools Alliance, the World University Association, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, the 21st Century Academic Alliance, and a university of the Association of East Asian Research Universities.
As of the end of 2014, Nanjing University has three campuses, namely Gulou, Pukou and Xianlin, 28 directly affiliated schools and departments, and a total of 31,304 students. [2] Nanjing University is the gathering place of the Chinese "Xueheng School" under the influence of Harvard University's Babbittism. It is known as the "headquarters of the Chinese scientific society and the main base for scientific development" and was praised by Yang Zhenning as "the top university in China".
The Nanjing University Gulou Campus is large enough that you can ride a yellow bike around. I recommend the Nanjing University restaurant. Although it is 40% more expensive than on-campus students, it is still market price. You can try it.
The Drum Tower Campus of Nanjing University is the original site of Jinling University. It retains many historic buildings, and the trees on both sides of the road inside the school gate also have a certain history.
