Xuanwu Lake is the largest imperial garden lake in China, and is known as one of the “Three Famous Lakes in Jiangnan” along with Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing and West Lake in Hangzhou.
It mainly includes five oases, namely Yingzhou, Liangzhou and Cuizhou, which gather many scenic spots and historical sites. It is now the largest cultural and leisure park in Nanjing.
From the Tailing flower stand in Lingzhou, you can overlook the scenery of Zhongshan Mountain. Liangzhou has bonsai gardens, azalea gardens and other landscapes. A chrysanthemum exhibition is held around October to November every year.
In addition, there is a lovers' garden in the park, which has tulips, peach blossoms and other plants. The scenery is pleasant and couples often come here to take wedding photos.
Spring is a good time to visit Yingzhou, where you can see cherry blossoms dotted on branches. There is also a lotus garden, which is a good place to see lotus flowers and take photos.

After descending the city wall, we entered Xuanwu Lake Park from Jiefang Gate. How to say it? Xuanwu Lake Park is located in Xuanwu District, Nanjing City. It is backed by Purple Mountain in the east and the Ming City Wall in the west. It is the largest royal garden lake in China, the only remaining royal garden in Jiangnan, and the largest city park in Jiangnan.
Xuanwu Lake Park is one of those places where you will regret not visiting it. It is just a park with a large area and good scenery. If there is no tour guide to tell you about the stories of various scenic spots, there is nothing to see. But the scenery is really good and suitable for a leisurely walk. Zhongshan Mountain in the distance and the vast lake.
Xuanwu Lake Park is located in Xuanwu District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It is backed by Purple Mountain in the east and the Ming City Wall in the west. It is the largest royal garden lake in China, the only remaining royal garden in Jiangnan, and the largest city park in Jiangnan. It is known as the "Pearl of Jinling". Xuanwu Lake is nearly five miles in radius and is divided into five continents (Huanzhou, Yingzhou, Lingzhou, Liangzhou, and Cuizhou). The continents are connected by embankments and bridges, forming a whole. There are mountains and water everywhere. Ouyang Xiu, a Song Dynasty poet, also wrote that "there is nothing more beautiful in Jinling than Houhu Lake; there is nothing more beautiful in Qiantang than West Lake". Xuanwu Lake is a landscape garden and a cultural resort. Literati, poets, politicians and celebrities of all dynasties have left their footprints here, and they are all praised by later generations. Personally, I think Liangzhou has the best scenery.
Perhaps it was because the afterglow of Story of Yanxi Palace had not yet dissipated. As I walked in Xuanwu Lake, facing the falling snowflakes, the BGM, "The Sound of Snow Falling", rang in my mind again.
Due to time constraints, I did not stay too long at Xuanwu Lake. Instead, I chose to climb the city wall from Xuanwu Gate, walk along the city wall, and see the snow scenery of Xuanwu Lake from a high place. As for Xuanwu Lake, I searched the Internet again after I came back, and there were mixed reviews. Friends in Nanjing said that Xuanwu Lake is just a large people's park, and some netizens said that Xuanwu Lake is a large garden. It depends on one's opinion. Maybe it will be more beautiful to see the flowers blooming in spring.
Students can go up the city wall from Xuanwu Gate for free, and they just need to register. I forgot how much the full-time ticket is.
There was already snow on the parapet and trees, and the stone slabs on the wall were slippery because of the people walking around.
It is only 1.5 km from Xuanwu Gate to Jiefang Gate. It took about twenty minutes to see Jiefang Gate.
I walked to the entrance of Xuanwu Lake Scenic Area. Although there are walls and gates, the entire Xuanwu Lake Scenic Area is free. Not far from the entrance, I arrived at the lake. The wide lake and the high-rise buildings across the lake (the most conspicuous of course is the towering Zifeng Building) made me brighten my eyes. This scenery is not inferior to the West Lake in Hangzhou, but it is much less famous, so most northerners may not have heard of Nanjing's Xuanwu Lake.
I traveled along the route of Cuizhou, Liangzhou and Huanzhou from east to west, and along the way, I could appreciate Xuanwu Lake and the urban buildings on the other side of the lake from different angles. Because it was the weekend, there were many tourists. In addition to tourists of all ages and from all regions, a more conspicuous point was that there were many college students wearing special vests of various colors, participating in cross-country running, orienteering or brisk walking. Looking at their energetic faces and listening to their relaxed conversations, I immediately felt the charm of Nanjing as a city of higher education.
Xuanwu Lake Park is located at the foot of Purple Mountain in Nanjing. It is surrounded by the Ming City Wall, Jiuhua Mountain, and Jiming Temple. It is the largest royal garden lake in China, the only remaining royal garden in Jiangnan, and the largest city park in Jiangnan. It is known as the "Pearl of Jinling" and is also called "the three famous lakes in Jiangnan" together with Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing and West Lake in Hangzhou. Xuanwu Lake, formerly known as Sangpo and Houhu, has a cultural history of 2,300 years, which can be traced back to the pre-Qin period. The lake is nearly five miles in radius and is divided into five continents, namely Huanzhou, Yingzhou, Lingzhou, Liangzhou, and Cuizhou. The continents are connected by embankments and bridges, and are integrated. There are mountains and water everywhere. Ouyang Xiu, a Song Dynasty scholar, also wrote that "there is nothing more beautiful in Jinling than Houhu; there is nothing more beautiful in Qiantang than West Lake". Xuanwu Lake is a landscape garden and a cultural resort. Literati, poets, politicians and celebrities of all dynasties have left their figures here, and they are all praised by later generations.
Include Xuanwu Lake in the plan
I was attracted by the "Ginkgo Avenue"
Unfortunately, it is very disappointing
There is a sightseeing bus in the park for 30 yuan per round
When I was planning, I realized that the park was huge.
I think it's a good deal to visit the whole park
After walking around, I found that it was just that small range.
I want to go to Liangzhou to see the famous Ginkgo Avenue
Maybe it was because it rained a few days ago.
The fallen ginkgo leaves on the ground were all cleared away
The whole avenue was eclipsed
If it weren't for Ginkgo Avenue
I guess I won't come to Xuanwu Lake.
Ordinary park landscape is not recommended
Xuanwu Lake Park is located in Xuanwu District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It is backed by Purple Mountain in the east and the Ming City Wall in the west. It is the largest royal garden lake in China, the only remaining royal garden in the south of the Yangtze River in China, and the largest city park in the south of the Yangtze River. It is known as the "Pearl of Jinling" and is now a national key park and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
Xuanwu Lake, formerly known as Sangpo and Houhu, has a 2,300-year cultural history that can be traced back to the pre-Qin period. It was opened as a royal garden in the Six Dynasties and a yellow book library in the Ming Dynasty. Both were royal forbidden areas. It was not until the late Qing Dynasty when the Nanyang Industrial Exposition was held that Fengrun Gate (now Xuanwu Gate) was opened, marking the beginning of Xuanwu Lake Park.
Xuanwu Lake is nearly five miles in radius and is divided into five islands (Huanzhou, Yingzhou, Lingzhou, Liangzhou and Cuizhou). The islands are connected by embankments and bridges, forming a whole with mountains and water everywhere. Ouyang Xiu, a poet in the Song Dynasty, once wrote, "Nothing is more beautiful than Houhu Lake in Jinling; nothing is more beautiful than West Lake in Qiantang." Xuanwu Lake is a landscape garden and a cultural resort. Literati, poets, politicians and celebrities of all dynasties have left their footprints here, and they are all praised by later generations.
The most profound impression is that the park is huge, very huge, super huge! I felt desperate walking!!! However, the scenery is beautiful, really beautiful, super beautiful! A casual shot is a great movie!
If I were to walk around the lake and visit the Jiming Temple and other historical sites by the lake, it would probably take a whole day, but I only had half a day in Nanjing. So I chose to walk southeast along the north bank of Xuanwu Lake, then west to Cuizhou, then continue west through Liangzhou and south, after passing Huanzhou, west to Xuanwu Gate. This route takes less time and almost captures the essence of the lake view.
Xuanwu Lake Park is very large. It takes about 2-3 hours to walk around the park. The park is mostly populated by middle-aged and elderly people who exercise and some young people who run. Most tourists are concentrated near Xuanwu Gate, which is very close to Nanjing Railway Station, so friends who take the train should be able to see Xuanwu Lake on the train. We came in from the side door in the southeast corner, walked northwards, and finally went out from the Jiefang Gate in the south, which basically made a full circle. Walking south from Xuanwu Lake Park is Jiming Temple.
Nanjing Xuanwu Lake is like a pearl inlaid in the city. It carries thousands of years of history, with the vast blue waters, ancient city walls and modern buildings complementing each other. Walking along the lakeside, the breeze blows on your face, and every inch of the air is filled with poetry and romance, making you indulge in this unique landscape painting of Nanjing.
Xuanwu Lake is backed by Purple Mountain in the east, the Ming City Wall in the west, Nanjing Station in the north, and Fuzhou Mountain in the south. It is the largest city park in the Jiangnan region, the largest royal garden lake in China, and the only remaining royal garden in Jiangnan. It is known as the "Pearl of Jinling".
Although Xuanwu Lake Park is free, you still need to make an online reservation to enter the park. This time I went to Xuanwu Lake's Sakura Island. Although it was not the peak bloom period for cherry blossoms, they were still very beautiful. I also saw Oshima cherry blossoms, which taught me a lot.
Xuanwu Lake, located in Xuanwu District, Nanjing, is backed by Purple Mountain in the east and the Ming City Wall in the west. It is the largest city park in Jiangnan, the largest royal garden lake in China, and the only remaining royal garden in Jiangnan. It is known as the "Pearl of Jinling" and is one of the 48 scenic spots in Jinling. Xuanwu Lake has a 2,300-year cultural history, which can be traced back to the Pre-Qin period. It was opened as a royal garden in the Six Dynasties and the Huangce Library in the Ming Dynasty. Both were royal forbidden areas. It is now a national key park and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
Xuanwu Lake is nearly five miles in circumference and is divided into five islands (Huanzhou, Yingzhou, Lingzhou, Liangzhou and Cuizhou). The islands are connected by embankments and bridges, forming a whole. There are mountains and water everywhere, and the whole lake is divided into three parts: Southeast Lake, Southwest Lake and North Lake. Due to limited time, it was around 16:30 in the afternoon when we arrived at Xuanwu Gate that day. Therefore, we chose the way of entering from Xuanwu Gate and exiting from Jiefang Gate for a hiking tour around the lake. We mainly visited the three small islands of Huanzhou, Yingzhou and Lingzhou, and the total time took about 1.5 hours.
However, what impressed me most about Xuanwu Lake was its autumn morning scene. The lake was shrouded in a thin light, and the mountains and waters were hazy. The autumn colors under the sun were like a colorful palette. Maple leaves, sycamores, and metasequoias all showed their beauty. Elderly people were doing morning exercises in the park, either hiking, jogging, or doing Tai Chi. There were also elderly people sitting in the pavilion looking at their mobile phones, completely unaware of the dazzling autumn scenery around them. Perhaps on such an autumn morning, leisure is the best way to go.
Nanjing Ming City Wall is the world's longest, largest and best preserved ancient city wall, with a total length of 25.1 kilometers now intact. You can go directly to the Ming City Wall from Jiming Temple, and you can see Xuanwu Lake from the wall. The Ming City Wall is vicissitudes and heavy. The tall palace lanterns and red lanterns are dotted on the ancient city wall. The city wall is extended at will; the dream is continued at will. This temple, this mountain, this lake, and this Ming City Wall are all quietly telling the history of Nanjing City...
Xuanwu Lake can be seen from the city wall. Xuanwu Lake was formerly known as Sangpo and Houhu Lake, and has a history of more than 1,500 years. It was a royal garden during the Six Dynasties, a Huangce Library during the Ming Dynasty, and a royal forbidden area during the Qing Dynasty. Xuanwu Lake is located in the city of Nanjing. It is a national scenic spot at the foot of Zijin Mountain, the largest royal garden lake in China, the only remaining royal garden in Jiangnan today, one of the three famous lakes in Jiangnan, and the largest city park in Jiangnan. It is known as the "Pearl of Jinling". Xuanwu Lake is nearly five miles in radius and is divided into five continents (Huanzhou, Yingzhou, Lingzhou, Liangzhou, and Cuizhou). The continents are connected by embankments and bridges, forming a whole, with mountains and water everywhere. There are many scenic spots around the lake, such as Xuanwu Morning Light, Beihu Art Studio, Xuanpu, Xuanwu Smoky Willow, Wumiao Ancient Gate, Mingcheng Exploration, and Ancient Reviewing Platform. Xuanwu Lake is a landscape garden and a cultural resort. Many literati and poets have left their footprints and poems here, such as Xiao Tong, Li Yu, Wei Zhuang, Du Mu, Liu Yuxi, Li Shangyin, Li Bai, Ouyang Xiu, Wang Anshi, Cao Xueqin, Guo Moruo, etc. "Qiantang is the most beautiful in West Lake; Jinling is the most beautiful in Houhu." Ouyang Xiu, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, once praised Xuanwu Lake.
Xuanwu Lake was the most peaceful afternoon of the trip. Walking along the lake, you can see five continents, dotted with bridges and pavilions, green willows in the city, and red flowers around the islands. When you look up, you can see the dragon-like Zhongshan Mountain, the tiger-like Shicheng City, and the magnificent Jinling. It's a pity that there are too many tall buildings around the lake, which really destroys the charm of the scenery.
Xuanwu Lake was originally part of the imperial gardens, but was later transformed into a park. It is in a great location. There are five oases in the lake, connected by bridges. There is also a section of city wall to the south of the lake. Jiming Temple is not far away, making it a great place for a walk.
As someone who has seen many great rivers and lakes, I don't want to say much about the scale and scenery of Xuanwu Lake. However, its history, its frequently changing names, its profound history, and its significance to Nanjing are still worth it for friends who go to Nanjing to stop by the lake and recall the scenes when Sun Quan, Emperor Wen of the Southern Song Dynasty, and Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, looked at the world from the lake.
Enter from Xuanwu Gate and turn right. Xinjiang people are performing square dance. It took me about three hours to walk through the five continents. It was quite boring. There were not many lotus flowers and nothing to see.
Enter Xuanwu Lake from Xuanwu Gate and walk towards the railway station. The vegetation on this side of the lake is richer, there are many tall trees near the city wall, there are wooden plank roads near the lake, and there are pirated big yellow ducks. The closer to the railway station, the more lotus flowers there are!
On one side is a bustling modern city with high-rise buildings standing side by side; on the other side is the tranquil and beautiful Xuanwu Lake, with beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains complementing each other.
The cherry blossoms are really beautiful, Xuanwu Lake is also beautiful, and there are many people. It is a good place to hang out on the weekend, it's great. Very suitable for camping
It is quite large, so if you are in a hurry, it is recommended to take a sightseeing bus.
Overlooking Xuanwu Lake
Clear water flowing, embankments and bridges connecting
The high-rise buildings behind are vaguely visible.
The eyes of Nanjing, with rippling blue waves and beautiful scenery.
Located in the north of Nanjing city, close to Nanjing Railway Station and Bus Station, Xuanwu Lake Park is now a place for citizens to relax and have fun.
We walked down from the Ming City Wall and arrived at Xuanwu Lake Park. We strolled on the tree-lined avenue while a light rain was drizzling.
Sitting by the Xuanwu Lake, you can see the majestic Nanjing City Wall... Boating is too expensive... So just sitting quietly by the lake is also nice!
It is very big and beautiful. It was not hot on the day I went there. Many people wore cheongsams, which added a different color to Xuanwu Lake.
Xuanwu Lake Park has very convenient transportation, just opposite Nanjing Railway Station, and has a very good location.
Xuanwu Lake - the Pearl of Jinling, is the largest existing royal garden lake.
A large park near Nanjing Railway Station (not the high-speed railway station), next to Nanjing's ancient city wall and the ancient Jiming Temple, with convenient transportation. Xuanwu Lake was formerly known as Sangpo and Houhu, and has a history of more than 1,500 years. It was a royal garden during the Six Dynasties, a Huangce Library during the Ming Dynasty, a royal forbidden area, and a park during the Qing Dynasty.
Xuanwu Lake is shaped like a ham and is divided into three major parts: North Lake (Northeast Lake, Northwest Lake), Southeast Lake and Southwest Lake. The water in North Lake is shallower, while the water in Southwest Lake is the deepest. Southeast Lake is second. The lake is connected by lake embankments, bridges and roads, making the water system of Xuanwu Lake completely under artificial control.
The scenery is OK, the lake is quite big, and many people exercise around the lake
The lake, trees and birds were singing, but it was a pity that I missed the cherry blossoms!
The Cherry Blossom Festival has begun. I feel that the lake here is so big. It was very windy yesterday. My friends were on the road, so we took a few photos in a hurry. It's nice to sit here and daydream or come here for a run.
Xuanwu Lake, located in Xuanwu District, Nanjing, is backed by Purple Mountain to the east, the Ming City Wall to the west, and Nanjing Station to the north. It is the largest urban park in the Jiangnan region.
It is sparsely populated and has an unparalleled snow scene. There is no other place like it in the world.
There is nothing special about the ordinary park. If you don't take a boat, it is recommended to walk around the city tower to overlook Xuanwu Lake.
I thought it was just a small park, but I was wrong. As soon as I entered Xuanwu Lake, I saw a sightseeing bus. I immediately decided to take a ride. Maybe I was too tired. Halfway through the ride, the wind was very comfortable, and I gradually fell asleep ~ (hahaha~) Fortunately, I woke up soon and saw everything I should see.
Xuanwu Lake is like Beijing's Olympic Forest Park, a place for citizens to take a walk and hike. The Jiming Temple next to it has a good reputation, so you can take a look if you are interested.
The lotus pond in summer and the ginkgo avenue in Liangzhou in autumn are always crowded with people. In autumn and winter, only a few lotus leaves are left by the lake, which is another kind of scenery.
A park surrounded by city walls. Walking around the lake and looking outside the city walls, it really feels like the past and the present are only separated by a wall, which is very interesting.
It’s my first time in Nanjing. I can see Xuanwu Lake right outside the South Square of Nanjing Railway Station. I think it will be more beautiful in summer.
We came to Xuanwu Lake. There were so many people coming here on weekends that we had to buy tickets and hide on the city wall. Xuanwu Lake Park feels a bit like the status of People's Park in Chengdu. It is a good place for Nanjing citizens to relax and have fun. Many old men and women are looking for their retirement entertainment hobbies here. Some are playing cards, some are playing mahjong, and some are playing saxophones under the shade of the trees. It feels like they have brought infinite vitality to the park and have become a landscape that attracts foreign tourists~
Xuanwu Lake is one of the three major freshwater lakes in the south of the Yangtze River, along with West Lake and South Lake. It is located outside the northeastern city wall of Nanjing and is connected to the urban area by Xuanwu Gate and Jiefang Gate. It was opened as a park in 1909. At that time, it was called Yuanwu Lake Park, and was also called Wuzhou Park and Houhu. The shore of Xuanwu Lake is diamond-shaped, with a circumference of about 10 kilometers, an area of 437 hectares, and a water surface of about 368 hectares. There are 5 islands in the lake, dividing the lake into four large areas. The islands are connected by bridges or embankments for easy sightseeing.
The first stop in Nanjing was Xuanwu Lake Park, which is a place for citizens to do morning exercises and a check-in spot for tourists. It was drizzling and it felt great to stroll on the small path inside the city wall.
Xuanwu Lake is a particularly suitable place for walking, and there are many people jogging on the shore. But I never expected that I would be troubled by cotton wool and kept sneezing! Spring is really a passionate season... It is better to prepare a mask when going to Jiangnan during this season.
Xuanwu Lake is very quiet during the day. There are photographers waiting for the sunset, and the little brothers from the water school run around the lake again and again. The Ming City Wall stands silently on the shore, and there are not many tourists.
Xuanwu Lake is obviously much more lively at night, and the night view of Xuanwu Lake is also quite famous in Nanjing.
I personally quite like this place. Although it is not as elegant as West Lake, the lake in this park is quite large and the plants are lush.
After leaving Jiming Temple, we walked for 10 minutes to Xuanwu Lake. The weather was fine and the lake was very blue and beautiful. We could climb up the Ming City Wall to overlook Xuanwu Lake and Yaoshi Tower, and the scenery was even more beautiful.
It's just an ordinary park, very big, not many people~
How can I say that the experience of joining the tour group was very bad. Fortunately, we were able to visit
I read a guide by a bee friend, one of the most beautiful roads in Nanjing in autumn. I have been to Xuanwu Lake Park many times, but this time I only went to Liangzhou-Lansheng Tower (Ginkgo Walkway).
Live up to its reputation.
Some of the ginkgo trees have almost shed their leaves now, and it is estimated that there is less than a month left for viewing.
Free scenic spot.
This place is like the Summer Palace in Beijing. Although the lake is big, there are many people, not only tourists from other places, but also many locals. We followed the crowd and saw many stalls selling various snacks on the roadside. The 2018 Xuanwu Lake Food Festival was also being held on the island in the middle of the lake.
The park is strategically located with Purple Mountain to the east, the Ming City Wall to the west, Nanjing Station to the north, and several universities around. There are many Nanjing citizens who are doing fitness in the park, and you can sit comfortably by the lake and experience the life of Nanjing citizens.
We entered the park from the main gate of Xuanwu Gate. Although it is free, the park's main income should be cruise ships, the lake-circling train and the sightseeing bus. The train costs 50 yuan per person, the sightseeing bus costs 30 yuan per person, and the cruise ship deposit is 200 yuan. It is basically a 4-person boat. There are two prices for one hour: 120 yuan and 140 yuan. The 140 yuan one comes with a modeling. When we rented it, we basically had 140 yuan left. The cruise ship will add an extra 10 minutes of waiting time, which is more humane. The lake is too large, and the lake is divided, so the cruise ships cannot communicate with each other. We chose the cruise ship on the right side after entering the main gate of Xuanwu Gate. The wind and waves are smaller here.
I didn't take the tour bus here. I walked to Jiefangmen, which is closer to Jiming Temple, and found a tour bus there. I took a ride. The bus entered the park and drove around the lake for half an hour. The horn kept honking.
After the explanation, I realized that the garden is really too big. Parents with children should not consider hiking.
Xuanwu Lake is very well-known. It is now an open park. There are cherry blossoms in spring and lotus flowers in summer. This season, it is in full bloom with the autumn chrysanthemum exhibition. I don't know why it is still a 4A scenic spot?
Xuanwu Lake, formerly known as Sangpo and Houhu, has a history of more than 1,500 years. It was a royal garden during the Six Dynasties, a Huangce Library during the Ming Dynasty, and a royal forbidden area during the Qing Dynasty. Xuanwu Lake is located in the city of Nanjing. It is a national scenic spot at the foot of Zijin Mountain, the largest royal garden lake in China, the only remaining royal garden in Jiangnan, one of the three famous lakes in Jiangnan, and the largest city park in Jiangnan. It is known as the "Pearl of Jinling".
If you live in Nanjing, you must come to Xuanwu Lake more often during your rest time. The scenery is very beautiful.
There are three entrances to Xuanwu Lake Park. The most convenient one is Xuanwu Lake Gate Station on Metro Line 1, which is about 200 meters away. Nanjing Xuanwu Lake, Hangzhou West Lake, and Jiaxing Nanhu are known as the "Three Famous Lakes in Jiangnan". Xuanwu Lake Park is the largest urban park in Jiangnan, so you must spend more time to complete it.
A relatively quiet and relaxing lake in the city center
Entering the park from Xuanwu Gate, you will see the cruise ship dock. Rent an electric boat and float on the lake to enjoy the breeze. The afterglow of the setting sun shines on the sparkling lake, which is warm and comfortable. The Nanjing Railway Station is faintly visible in the distance. It is a blessing for the people of Nanjing that such a large lake park can be preserved in such a central area, and it is free. The scenery of the lake and mountains is beautiful, but the scenery on the shore is also very attractive. It may take a whole day to walk through Xuanwu Lake Park. If you don’t have enough time, you can only take a quick look like me.
The air is good, suitable for casual strolling, there are many sunflowers planted at the door
AAAA scenic spot, no eye-catching highlights were found, you can stroll around after dinner and relax. I found a detail that was done very well and was the most impressive: "Xuan", the mountains, water, and names are all in it.
The chrysanthemums will be in full bloom by the weekend, but let's take a look now. Some of them are pretty good. On the second floor of the bonsai garden
Tour time: more than 2 hours
I originally wanted to take a look when I came out of Jiming Temple, but I didn't expect that this park is so huge. When I came out of the west gate, I saw a violinist playing on a small hill that looked like a potted plant. At the same time, I saw old citizens of Nanjing resting and chatting here and selling kites. With the ancient city wall at the entrance, it feels very artistic. The scenic trail is very beautiful, and there is a large lotus pond.
While walking, I was thinking that people living nearby are so lucky. They have a natural royal garden as their back garden every day, and they can run in the park if they get up early and come back late. It is really pleasant to walk in Xuanwu Lake in autumn. When you are tired, you can rest on the benches by the lake. I wanted to plan to go boating on the lake, but I gave up after looking at the boating ticket price. The small boat can take about 4 people and costs 120 yuan for 40 minutes. The price of the big boat is higher. There are many places to play in Xuanwu Lake Park. Because it is too big and it started to rain, I had to give up.
The sunset at Xuanwu Lake is not to be missed. The best time is when the lotus flowers are in bloom. I think the snow season is also good.
Xuanwu Lake, formerly known as Sangpo and Houhu, is located at the foot of Zhongshan Mountain and has a cultural history of 2,300 years. It is nearly five miles in radius and is divided into five islands (Huanzhou, Yingzhou, Lingzhou, Liangzhou and Cuizhou). The islands are connected by embankments and bridges, forming a whole. There are mountains and water everywhere. Ouyang Xiu once praised that "there is nothing more beautiful than Houhu in Jinling". In ancient times, Xuanwu Lake was very large and was once connected to the Yangtze River. After the construction of the Ming City Wall, its water surface gradually shrank.
Xuanwu Gate was built in the late Qing Dynasty and its name was written by Cai Yuanpei. It is located on the east bank of Xuanwu Lake.
As the largest royal garden in Jiangnan, Xuanwu Lake is more grand than exquisite.
Looking at the city on the other side of the lake, I think about the old days when I couldn’t see past the high city walls.
Going a little further ahead is the ancient military review platform. In ancient times, the emperor stood in the pavilion and could see the heroic figures of the navy in Xuanwu Lake. Many people took photos here at the murals. The main function of Xuanwu Lake is to train sailors, but the name of Xuanwu Lake has been changed many times. As a lake, it can be said that it has a tragic fate. If you are interested, you can learn more about it.
Xuanwu Lake Park is really huge! Ouyang Xiu once wrote: The most beautiful thing in Jinling is Houhu Lake, and the most beautiful thing in Qiantang is West Lake. Houhu Lake is Xuanwu Lake. Now it is mostly for local elderly people to take a walk to cool off. If you like, you can take a boat. There is no boat, we drive it ourselves. You have to return to where you start. There is a ten-minute boarding time, 120 yuan/hour, and two hours will be counted if you exceed the time.
A very famous park in Nanjing, free to enter, with five small islands named Wuzhou. It is a good place for Nanjing people to exercise. The scenery is also good. It is also the layout of Jiangnan gardens.
After entering Xuanwu Gate and walking to the right, you will arrive at Jiming Temple, the first of the 480 temples in the Southern Dynasties. The park is free and worth it. You can take a tour bus or a boat to cruise the lake.
Xuanwu Lake is really beautiful, and the sunset by the lake is also very special. In fact, it is also the filming location of many movies, and the one that resonates most with everyone is "Youth".
Xuanwu Lake is the largest imperial garden lake in China. It mainly includes five oases, including Yingzhou, Liangzhou, and Cuizhou, and is home to many historical sites. It is now the largest cultural and leisure park in Nanjing. It is just opposite Nanjing Station. You can walk to the park after exiting Nanjing Station. There are many activities held in the park on weekends, and you can experience the local life of Nanjing people.
I tried to walk across Xuanwu Lake at around 6 o'clock in the evening in May, looking at the scenery and taking photos along the way. It took two hours.
The time chosen was the evening, and I felt the three kinds of scenery of Xuanwu Lake during the day, evening and night. The scenery was great at sunset, with many people taking pictures on the bridge, and the duck boats on the lake were neatly arranged.
In the evening, there were many young people jogging in the park (the young ladies all had great figures), and there were elderly people dancing in the square. I also saw two old ladies feeding cats. It can be said that they were very caring.
In general, Xuanwu Lake is a great place for leisure, chatting, and running. I envy Nanjing people for having such a large park in the city. As a tourist attraction, it is not necessary to go there. If you still have strength in your feet after touring during the day, it is also great to take a walk after dinner in the evening.
