Fengqiao Scenic Area

Fengqiao is located in the north of Hanshan Temple. It is a single-hole stone arch bridge across the Shangtang River of the ancient Grand Canal. The existing Fengqiao was rebuilt in the sixth year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1867 AD). The bridge is 39.6 meters long, 5.27 meters wide, and has a span of 10 meters. Its east end is connected to Tieling Pass, making it an important naval and land military fortress in the west of Suzhou. It is famous in ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad, because of the poet Zhang Ji's "Night Mooring at Fengqiao"

After buying a ticket and entering the Fengqiao Night Mooring Scenic Area, the Jiangnan architectural garden style layout can be seen everywhere. Just walk straight along the path.

Walking along the avenue dotted with colorful balloons, you can imagine the beautiful scene at night.

After walking for about three minutes, you can see a small bridge and a small hall in front of you. There are stone carvings of deer on the pavilions and the lanterns hanging on both sides also add a bit of color to the early autumn tones.

Looking closely at the Gusu-style bridges and flowing water, the cruise ships on the river have become the best way for people to reminisce about the past.

On the other side of the bridge is a collection of various poems and essays about Hanshan Temple, which displays the famous poets here like an imperial edict.

Fengqiao is located to the north of Hanshan Temple, only a hundred steps away from the mountain gate, and is like a crescent moon spanning the Feng River.

In recent years, the scenic area has restored the old features such as Tang lanterns, Ming and Qing neighborhoods, Jiangfeng Thatched Cottage, and Jinghong Ferry; and added folk buildings such as the ancient theater, Yuyin Village, and Tingzhong Bridge.

It is quite large and has many historical sites, especially the rich Wu style. It is really a good place to understand Suzhou. I think if I come here next time, I must wear Hanfu to be suitable for the occasion!

There are more than a hundred kinds of trees in the scenic area, including willow trees by the lake, golden ginkgo trees, and fiery red maples, creating this poetic natural scenery.

The ticket price for the Fengqiao scenic area is 25 yuan, which is not expensive. (In fact, I was in a hurry to go to the toilet at that time, and the map showed that there was a public toilet behind the ticket office, so I quickly bought a ticket to go to the park to use the toilet)

In fact, according to the introduction on the Internet, the entire Fengqiao Scenic Area includes the Hanshan Temple scenic spot. I don’t know why it is divided into two scenic areas and tickets are sold separately.

As soon as you enter the Fengqiao Scenic Area, you will see a square. At the south end of the square stands a large ancient stage, or a stage. Hanging on it is a large gold-plated plaque with the words: Ancient Charm of Wumen.

You can climb the Puming Pagoda in Hanshan Temple, which has a nice view. However, there is a small garden on the west side of Hanshan Temple near the exit of Fengqiao, which is very beautiful and has few tourists. You can sit there for a while.

The small bridges and flowing water in the south of the Yangtze River, sitting quietly in the ancient pavilion, accompanied by the crisp bells and melodious flute sounds of Hanshan Temple, this is not a picture that can only be seen in poems. In front of us is the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and the cargo ships are longer than trains. .

The main landscapes are Jiangfeng Ancient Bridge, Tieling Ancient Pass, Fengqiao Ancient Town and the Ancient Grand Canal. If you have time, you can go in and take a look. There are not many people there, and it is also great to watch the busy ships coming and going on the canal.
