Built during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty, it is one of the four famous gardens in China along with Suzhou’s Humble Administrator’s Garden, Beijing’s Summer Palace, and Chengde’s Mountain Resort.
It is famous for its exquisite architectural layout and numerous strange rocks. In one garden, you can enjoy four different scenes: mountains and waters, countryside, forests, and gardens.
It is divided into four scenic areas: central, east, west and north. On the walls of the curved corridors that run through the scenic areas are the "Liuyuan Calligraphy" of many famous artists.
The central part is famous for its waterscape, which is the essence of the whole garden; Guanyun Peak in the east is one of the three wonders of the Liuyuan Garden, which combines the four wonders of Taihu stone: thin, wrinkled, leaky and transparent.

The Lingering Garden, Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden, Beijing's Summer Palace, and Chengde's Mountain Resort are collectively known as China's Four Great Gardens. The pavilions, towers, strange rocks and curved corridors in the garden, coupled with the greenery and a clear water pond, are very beautiful. Here, you can experience the plain atmosphere of gardens and mountains and rivers.
The Lingering Garden was first built in the 21st year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1593 AD) as the private garden of Xu Taishi, the "Shaoqing of the Imperial Household Department". At that time, it was called "East Garden". At the end of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, it was acquired by Liu Shu, who expanded it and renamed it "Hanbi Villa", and then called "Liu Garden". At the beginning of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty, the official Sheng Kang bought the garden and renamed it "Lingering Garden".

Liuyuan is a large-scale private classical garden in China, covering an area of 23,300 square meters. It represents the style of the Qing Dynasty. The garden is famous for its exquisite architectural art, spacious and magnificent halls, and rich courtyards. The most famous Taihu stone is Guanyun Peak. Its architectural space is exquisitely handled. The garden architects use various artistic techniques to form a rhythmic and rhythmic garden space system, becoming a world-famous example of architectural space art treatment. The garden is now divided into four parts, with the eastern part being dominated by buildings, the central part being a landscape garden, the western part being a large rockery with alternating earth and stone, and the northern part being a pastoral scenery. In 1997, Suzhou's classical gardens, including Liuyuan, were listed as a World Cultural Heritage.

The Liuyuan Garden is one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units, a world cultural heritage site, and a national 5A-level tourist attraction.
My favorite places in the Lingering Garden are the empty corners that make people reminisce. Although they are made by man, they seem to be created by nature.
Walking through the lingering garden in the misty rain gives you a sense of simplicity and tranquility. There are not many tourists, and you feel like you are enjoying the whole garden privately. There is a screen carved with the scenery of the lingering garden at the entrance. I feel that this season is the closest to the screen. Ginkgo leaves are flying and red leaves are dotted. The early winter of Suzhou gardens will not look monotonous.
Just as what is written on the plaque in the garden, Liuyuan Garden truly lives up to its mission of “staying forever between heaven and earth”.

The Lingering Garden is the largest garden in Suzhou.
Taking landscape as the theme, the space is divided ingeniously.
Forming four distinctive scenic areas in the middle, east, west and north
Independent yet closely connected
The Lingering Garden, a 5A scenic spot, with a ticket price of 45 yuan, was built in the 21st year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1593 AD). It is one of the four famous gardens in China (Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden and Lingering Garden, Beijing's Summer Palace, and Hebei's Chengde Mountain Resort), one of the four famous gardens in Jiangnan (Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden and Lingering Garden, Nanjing's Zhanyuan, and Wuxi's Jichang Garden), and one of the four famous gardens in Suzhou (Humble Administrator's Garden, Lingering Garden, Canglang Pavilion, and Lion Grove). It is extremely famous and its status among the many gardens in Suzhou is second only to the Humble Administrator's Garden. Compared with the Humble Administrator's Garden, the Lingering Garden has an area of less than half, but it is as exquisite and gorgeous as the Humble Administrator's Garden. The names of its pavilions and terraces are also as elegant as those of the Humble Administrator's Garden. Perhaps this is why it ranks second among the many gardens in Suzhou.
Suzhou
Of course, you must visit the gardens
Appreciate and understand the wisdom of the ancients
If the beauty of Hangzhou West Lake lies in its natural beauty
Suzhou gardens are valuable because of their artificiality
In a small world
Adapting to local conditions
Along the Fulei soil
Planting flowers and trees
Building a pavilion
This resulted in various
And beautiful picture
Reach the state of "enjoying the beauty of mountains and forests without leaving the city"
This is the uniqueness of Suzhou gardens
Like [Lingering Garden], [Master of the Nets Garden], [Lion Grove]
Small bridges and flowing water meander along the path
Bamboo thatched cottage is a hermit
It is common to see
Cui Jiutang has heard several times
It is the beautiful scenery of Jiangnan
I meet you again in the time of falling flowers
——【Meeting Li Guinian in Jiangnan】Du Fu
The lyrics in [Yu Nian] are just right for this scene
Watching the falling flowers in silence
I count the remaining years in exile year after year
Hope there are still many
Years of Traveling with Suzhou
The Lingering Garden, one of the four famous gardens in China, was built in the Ming Dynasty. I prefer its original name "Hanbi Villa". The layout of the garden is good, with waterscapes as its specialty. There are also bonsai gardens and various unique Taihu stones in the garden.
The Lingering Garden is worthy of being one of the four famous gardens in China, along with the Humble Administrator's Garden. Whether indoors or outdoors, you can find the fun of garden appreciation everywhere, and the exquisite Taihu stone Guanyunfeng in the garden is even more impressive. Unfortunately, during this trip to Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou, I could have appreciated the three famous stones in Jiangnan gardens at once, but it was not until I came to Suzhou that I learned that there was Yulinglong in the Yu Garden in Shanghai and Zhouyunfeng in the West Lake in Hangzhou. However, although I did not look at Yulinglong carefully, I did see it.

Although it is winter, we can appreciate the artistic conception of the Liuyuan stamps designed by Master Sun Chuanzhe in the 1980s, which include spring at Quxi Tower, summer at Yuancui Pavilion, autumn at Hanbi Mountain House, and clear snow at Guanyun Peak.
I didn't go to the Lingering Garden several times when I came to Suzhou before, but I finally got my wish this time. It is said that the Lingering Garden is one of the four famous gardens in China, along with the Humble Administrator's Garden, the Summer Palace in Beijing, and the Mountain Resort in Chengde. This time, I saw that it really lived up to its reputation. The Lingering Garden is famous for its exquisite architectural art, with spacious and magnificent halls and rich courtyards. It is said that Guanyun Peak is a relic of the Flower and Stone Gang in the late Song Dynasty.

Liuyuan Garden, one of the four famous gardens in China, can be given this name, so it is not bad to think about it.
It is a large-scale classical private garden in China, representing the style of the Qing Dynasty. It is famous for its exquisite architectural art, grand and magnificent halls, and varied courtyards. The most famous Taihu stone is Guanyun Peak, which gives people the pleasure of "enjoying the mountains and forests without leaving the city."
The whole park is divided into four parts. In one garden, you can appreciate four different scenery: mountains and rivers, countryside, forests and gardens. The scenery in the garden is quite dense, with scenery within scenery and each scene is connected. Walking along the way, it is a continuous gorgeous critical hit.
In addition, I also enjoyed the Suzhou characteristic art here - Suzhou Pingtan, which broadened my horizons, roo roo~
It is said to be the most exquisite of Suzhou's classical gardens (note that there is no second place here), so it does not occupy a large area. I had the same idea as many people before entering the garden, but it actually took more than two hours, which is about the same time as the Humble Administrator's Garden. So, exquisite does not mean that there is nothing to see in a small place. I admit that I was wrong to hold such a view.
The construction time of the Liuyuan Garden was later than that of other gardens mentioned in this travelogue, so it is easier to see more elements of classical gardens. How can a marble boat or a painted boat not appear? Since there is no building like the captain's, let's try a freehand one. Generally, if no external help is invited, the designer of the garden is the owner himself. This is probably the instruction of the owner at that time (guess)~
One of the most famous gardens in Suzhou, it is also a representative of Suzhou gardens. Compared with the grandeur of Humble Administrator's Garden, Lingering Garden is a small and beautiful garden. Although it is small, it has everything.
It is a very famous garden in Suzhou, a 5A scenic spot, known for its architectural art, with spacious and magnificent halls and varied courtyards.
Very beautiful Suzhou garden. Not too big or too small, with mountains and waters, white walls and black tiles, clear water and gray stones.
The garden is small and can be walked through quickly, but to truly experience the history and culture inside, you need to spend some time to experience it slowly.
This is the epitome of Suzhou gardens. I personally think it has more typical characteristics of Suzhou gardens than the Humble Administrator's Garden.
On rainy days, the Liuyuan Garden seems particularly quiet, even with the noise of tour groups. Entering the courtyard, standing by the empty flower window, listening to the sound of rain hitting the banana leaves is a unique experience.
Suzhou is small, but there are many gardens. A small tour group will take you to all the attractions.
I'm not very good at appreciating garden scenery, but it's quite suitable for taking pictures.
When we went there, there were 1,700 people in the museum. There were relatively few people on weekdays.
The cultural connotation is rich, and the gardens are exquisite and elegant. However, the crowds are so crowded that no one wants to fight.
The Humble Administrator's Garden is composed of large scenes, while the Lingering Garden's small scenes are unique.
The Lingering Garden is one of the four famous gardens in China. It is smaller than the Humble Administrator's Garden. The garden was first built in the late Ming Dynasty and was renamed to its current name during the reign of Emperor Guangxu. The Lingering Garden is famous for its ponds, winding corridors and strange rocks. Among them, Guanyun Peak is said to be a relic of the Flower and Stone Gang of Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty.
One of the representative gardens of Suzhou and a world heritage site.
Suzhou's Liuyuan Garden and Humble Administrator's Garden are both among the four famous gardens in China. Compared with the Humble Administrator's Garden, the Liuyuan Garden is smaller and more exquisite, with Taihu stones crowning the cloud peaks, Yuhua stones that are hundreds of millions of years old, and even the bathrooms are high-end!
What an exquisite garden. The Liuyuan Garden in the rain has the flavor of the misty Jiangnan.
There are many strange stones and bonsai! It covers a large area
I visited here during my college fall tour, and I was still deeply moved when I visited again 20 years later. There are fewer tourists during the winter vacation, so I can savor the design process. This time I brought my daughter with me to travel around China following Ye Shengtao's classic text "Suzhou Gardens", but unfortunately the child was too young to fully understand it.
The tour guide used a small microphone to explain, and in order not to disturb other tourists, you had to wear headphones if you wanted to listen. Compared with Yipu and Wangshiyuan, Liuyuan is much larger.
The courtyard is exquisite and graceful, but unfortunately I can only see the word "artificial"
In one garden, you can enjoy four different scenes: mountains and waters, countryside, forests, and gardens.
When purchasing at the self-service ticket machines at the ticket office, you can pay with WeChat or Alipay, which is very convenient and doesn’t make a big difference in terms of money. Now with the rapid development of electronic payments, we have truly entered the cashless era!
When visiting the Liuyuan Garden, please note that there are free guided tours in the scenic area. From 8:00 to 16:00, a free guided tour is provided every 15 minutes. Individual tourists take a number at the guide information desk with their tickets and wait. The ID card is deposited in the hands of the guide, who will give you a guide. After the guide is over, return the guide to the guide and she will return your ID card to you. Please note that you are waiting alone. If the guide does not come on time, you should consult the staff and ask them to help call the guide. There are free maps in the scenic area. If you need one, you can get one at the visitor center.
When touring the Liuyuan Garden, you will feel that there is a garden within a garden and scenery within scenery. There is a dazzling scene at every step, and each scene is moving.
I really like this garden. There are free guided tours at the entrance. You need to queue up, but I feel like I can learn a lot of historical knowledge.
The scenery changes with every step, which is fully reflected here. Every garden in Suzhou is a killer of camera memory. Doors, windows, floor tiles, every detail shows unparalleled craftsmanship.
One of the four great classical gardens in China, it was built with meticulous techniques and the designer's careful design.
The experience of the Liuyuan Garden is even better than that of the Humble Administrator's Garden. The garden is small and exquisite. It took me 2 hours to complete the tour until closing time. If I had another 2 hours, I would have listened to the explanations of all the attractions. I give a big thumbs up to the toilets in the Liuyuan Garden. They are clean and well-equipped. The most important thing is that there are not many people, and there is no crowded queue like in the Humble Administrator's Garden.
The Lingering Garden is located at No. 338, Lingering Garden Road, outside Changmen, Suzhou. It is famous for its exquisite architectural layout and numerous strange stones. It is known as one of the four famous gardens in China, along with Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden, Beijing's Summer Palace, and Chengde's Mountain Resort. There were people on the lake pretending to be ancient people, boating and playing the flute, which made people immersed in the artistic conception of the ancient mountains and forests. There were many people watching around the lake, and it was difficult to find a place to stay. I finally found a decent place to enjoy it.
Each scenic area is separated by a wall, connected by a corridor, and the scenery on both sides is interpenetrated by empty windows, lattice windows and cave doors. This cave door is taken from Lu You's poem "Mountains and rivers are so dense that it seems there is no way out, but when the willows and flowers are bright, another village appears." It is full of pastoral flavor.
The garden is small and typical of Suzhou gardens. The three treasures of the Liuyuan Garden are: Guanyun Peak, Sunshine after Rain, and Fish Fossils.
I went there on October 1st. It is as famous as the Humble Administrator's Garden, but a little quieter than the former. In the vast sea of people, I found a little comfort from the crowds. The scenery here is beautiful, and I appreciate the elegance of the classical gardens and encounter ancient photography. I will bring my friends from the north to visit again if I have the chance.
Small but exquisite. Free explanations are also available. Very good.
One of the four major gardens. The winding path leads to a secluded place, and behind the dark willows and flowers there is another village.
The garden is full of pomegranates and persimmons, the breeze is blowing gently, and the sunshine is very bright.
It took about 20 minutes to follow the navigation from Qilishantang to Liuyuan Garden.
I really feel that the entrance to Suzhou's gardens is not too fancy, just an ordinary entrance. If you pass by, you will probably ignore it. I have been to many places before, and many scenic spots have big archways at the entrance, but the gardens in Suzhou feel very simple.
The Lingering Garden is one of the four major gardens in Suzhou and one of the four major gardens in China. If the Summer Palace is compared to a princess born in the royal family, then the Lingering Garden is a little jade from an ordinary family, shy and friendly.
I was a little disappointed when I first saw the entrance. It was one of the four major gardens, but it was so plain. It was unscientific. But when I went inside, I found that there was a lot going on inside.
I really like the bonsai garden in Liuyuan Garden. After entering the bonsai garden, the view is broad and you can see all kinds of bonsai.
The bamboo leaves and tiles complement each other, depicting an unusual beauty.
Super beautiful gardens and quietly blooming lotus flowers.
The rockery in Liuyuan Garden is really eye-catching, beautiful and photogenic. Let’s take pictures of it.
Suzhou is home to two of the four great gardens in China: the Humble Administrator's Garden and the Lingering Garden.
Relatively speaking, I prefer Liuyuan Garden.
First of all, you can take good photos in the Lingering Garden. If there are people around, you can still take photos if you wait a little. But in the Humble Administrator's Garden, no matter how long you wait, there are so many people, it's like a mountain of people, a sea of people. Before one group has finished walking, another group has already arrived. Most of them are tour groups. There are so many people that I can't breathe and I don't have a good mood to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Secondly, as far as the bonsai gardens of the two gardens are concerned, I prefer the bonsai garden of the Liuyuan Garden, which gives people a bright and refreshing feeling, while the bonsai garden of the Humble Administrator's Garden is relatively messy.
Then, walking through each doorway in the Lingering Garden, you will see different styles of beautiful scenery. Some are more abrupt and you can see their specialness at a glance, while others require you to feel them quietly. There are many places in the Lingering Garden that will make you stop and appreciate. In the Humble Administrator's Garden, it looks very open at a glance, but for some reason, I just don't have the heart to stop and appreciate it.
It was a beautiful afternoon in Liuyuan Garden, with light and shadow interweaving, but unfortunately I didn’t capture that effect in the photo.
The small pavilion and long corridor have the ancient beauty of symmetry, framework, and sense of extension. It looks really beautiful when there is no one around.
A true frame composition, any hole looks really beautiful.
Anyway, I really like this kind of walls. Although the walls in each place are not much different, I still want to take a picture of every corner.
I feel that the tour guides are very humorous, and what they say can make people feel very happy to listen to. If you have the chance, you can also hire a tour guide, the experience should be very different.
I love every part of Liuyuan Garden.
When I first saw the garden, I really liked the frame-like composition, and the outside of the frame is really beautiful. The world outside is very exciting.
The Lingering Garden is the first stop of this trip, which can be regarded as making up for the regret of not being able to go there in time last time I went to Suzhou. The Lingering Garden is not far from Shantang Street. It is one of the four famous gardens in China. The peak season ticket is 55 yuan/person, and the price on Taobao is 53 yuan. There is a free explanation gathering place in the garden on the left hand position just after entering the garden. This is the staff of the Lingering Garden. It is free, but you need to wait for time. There is a class every half an hour. No matter how many people there are, they will set off in half an hour. You only need to exchange your ID card for a set of headphone receivers. After the explanation, you will change it back. Most people don’t know that there will be free explanations. I was the only one in the class when I went in, so I enjoyed VIP treatment. A tour guide took me, a tourist, into the garden for a circle. All major attractions in Suzhou provide free explanations. It is recommended to ask the staff at the entrance when you go. I feel that although the Lingering Garden is small, it is more artistic. There is also a bonsai garden in the garden with a bonsai exhibition. As for the various scenes in the garden, I won’t say much. You can go to the garden to see it yourself.
Suzhou's Liuyuan Garden, one of the four famous gardens in China and a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, is as famous as the Humble Administrator's Garden, but compared to the very popular Humble Administrator's Garden, I prefer Liuyuan Garden.
I went to the Humble Administrator's Garden a few days ago, and I really went there to see the people, not the scenery! This time I went to the Lingering Garden, which is no worse than the Humble Administrator's Garden, and the key is that there are even fewer people!
The Liuyuan Garden is one of the largest gardens in Suzhou. The rockery, bonsai, pools, flowers, plants and buildings are all particularly exquisite.
To be honest, all the gardens in Suzhou are similar, so visiting one or two is enough, but if you ask me which one is the most worth visiting, of course it is the Liuyuan Garden!
This is my second time in Suzhou. I have stayed for 6 days and I don’t want to leave yet.
The Liuyuan Garden is not bad, but the ticket price of 55 yuan is really unreasonable. I don’t know if it is because there are too many tour groups that the price is so high. I suggest 35 yuan is the most reasonable!
The Ou Garden is also very good, the ticket is only 25 yuan, and the garden has its own charm when you walk slowly. I suggest that you visit more attractions that group tourists can't visit when you have time, there will be more surprises!
It is a beautiful garden, but too many tourists make it difficult to appreciate the beauty. It is recommended to go there during non-small holidays to appreciate the beauty of the Liuyuan Garden.
There are much fewer people than in the Humble Administrator's Garden. It is a very delicate garden, very beautiful.
The space design of the Liuyuan Garden is very attractive, like a maze, and very ornamental.
Compared with the Humble Administrator's Garden, the Lingering Garden is much smaller, but it is indeed a model of Suzhou gardens. The scenery changes as you move. Although it is not big, it always feels like a maze. There are several large ancient ginkgo trees inside, so the colors will be richer in autumn. The bonsai garden is mostly pine and cypress, and a few are a bit monotonous. I entered the venue at around 3 pm, and there were not many people. I looked at the passenger flow meter and there were only more than 1,000 people, but the peak of the day was more than 4,000. More than 4,000 people in one garden... I can't imagine it.
Very good, the surrounding environment is also very good, unlike the Humble Administrator's Garden and Lion Grove where there are black guides everywhere
I bought tickets at the ticket office near the entrance, which cost 45 yuan per person and children were free.
The entrance to Liuyuan Garden is very small, just like the front door of an ordinary family's house. There are two young men in ancient costumes guarding the door, which is quite exquisite, as if you have really arrived at an ancient mansion.
The tour guide said that the original name of the Liuyuan Garden was not Liu Rongfeng. During the Jiaqing period, a man named Liu Rongfeng bought the manor after he resigned from his official position and redesigned it carefully. He planted many white pines in the garden, and the bamboos were cold and the waves were clear and blue, so the owner named it "Hanbi Villa". The local people called the garden Liujia Garden because the owner's surname was Liu. Later, the garden changed its owner, and because the former owner's surname was Liu, it was commonly known as Liu Garden. The new owner followed the example of Suiyuan, taking its pronunciation and changing its characters, and renamed it Liuyuan.
The rooms in the Liuyuan Garden are very grand, spacious and bright, like a wealthy family. There are many paintings and calligraphy in the rooms, and it can be seen that the owner is a person who loves calligraphy and painting. Apricot trees and peach trees are planted in the garden, and a wisteria frame is built on the gravel road. The atmosphere of a self-sufficient farmhouse is overwhelming, and a hint of pastoral atmosphere can be vaguely seen. There are many bonsai in the garden, of different sizes, all of which are very delicate. Bamboo railings are used to separate the scenery from the pedestrian road.
The Liuyuan Garden is known as one of the four famous gardens in China, along with the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Mountain Resort in Chengde, and the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou. Although it is not as big as the Humble Administrator's Garden, it is small and exquisite, so it is still worth a visit, where you will discover scenery that is different from that of the Humble Administrator's Garden.
Recommended attractions: The entrance fee to the Lingering Garden is 45 yuan. (It is famous for its exquisite architectural layout and numerous strange rocks, and is one of the four famous gardens in China.) It is smaller than Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden and Beijing's Summer Palace, but the layout of every place in the garden is exquisite, as if a little more would be too much, and a little less would be too little. I walked around the entire Lingering Garden, looking at every scene from left to right, up to bottom, and I had a specific map in my mind for every layout of the entire courtyard.
The Liuyuan Garden is worthy of being one of the four famous gardens, and the Liuyuan Garden is a must-see for its garden design.
There are quite a few people in Liuyuan Garden. The ticket price is 55. You can pay with Alipay directly on the machine, but you must remember to bring your ID card.
The Liuyuan Garden is quite large. After entering, there was a little drizzle, which made it feel more charming.
It’s actually quite magical. Although life around here is noisy, once you enter the garden, your mind will naturally calm down. Every scene has a sense of antiquity and vicissitudes.
Through the ivy on the wall, the tiles dripping with rain, the bamboo forest, and the doors and windows, you can suddenly feel a faint connection with the times, as if you can feel the people who lived in this courtyard at that time through these, and feel the spirit of that era, their aesthetics, and their philosophy of life.
This is completely different from the feeling of the Forbidden City. You can feel the breath of life in the gardens and the romance of that time. It is like a layer of hazy gauze. Although the people are gone, the objects are still there. They have stood here quietly for hundreds of years.
Most of its windows are in geometric shapes. Because it used to be a large house, many of the windows have wooden openwork carvings. I think one of the major features of Suzhou gardens is the design of doors and windows. It feels like a lot of design and conception was spent on them.
If you don't visit the gardens, how can you know how beautiful spring is?
Close to Tiger Hill. Traveling in December, the off-season, and as it was getting dark, the garden looked bleak. Suzhou gardens are particularly keen on using white walls. Due to the humid climate in the south of the Yangtze River, a lot of black things grow on the white walls, which look like mold marks. If you have to repaint the walls at home, it feels like an ink painting here. Suzhou gardens are particularly fond of bamboo forests, and bamboo elements are often seen.
The quiet time, the winding path, the deep affection of the bestie
The gardens in Suzhou are all very beautiful. I think the Lingering Garden is very exquisite, but it is very popular and there were too many people. I didn’t get to experience much fun in the garden. I will come again next time!
Liuyuan Garden is like a beautiful girl from a small family, exquisite and unique. Liuyuan Garden in spring is full of spring. The person who designed this garden must be a person who is good at poetry and painting, well-read, and has a pastoral heart. Look at the grass, trees, flowers, stones, plaques, and couplets, which are full of poetic and picturesque feelings. Just after walking out of "how deep is the courtyard", the road turns, "willows and flowers are bright, and another village is seen". It seems like tasting poetry and appreciating paintings.
After another round of tour with the guide, I obviously had a deeper understanding of the Liuyuan Garden and watched the three treasures of the Liuyuan Garden up close. It is worth mentioning that the Taihu stone, which is regarded as the treasure of the Liuyuan Garden, was originally intended to be presented to Emperor Huizong of Song, but before it could be sent, the Northern Song Dynasty fell. What was left behind are such treasures, which shows what the Genyue would have been like at that time.
Exquisite, delicate, exquisite, the architectural ingenuity of the ancients is amazing
The area of the Liuyuan Garden is not large. We walked around and looked at everything, and it took us only 2 hours to finish the tour. Its characteristics are small, exquisite, and ingenious. For the Liuyuan Garden, if you have sufficient funds, you can rent a tour guide; if the time is right and you catch the free tour, it will be even better. If you don't catch up, it doesn't matter, you can also rent a tour guide, or at least follow the WeChat public account of the Liuyuan Garden and listen to the audio guide. Seeing the scenery of the garden is one aspect, and experiencing the owner's life interest, feeling his love for life, and his sustenance on the mountains and rivers is another aspect. You can't experience it just by looking at photos and travel notes. I suggest that you go there in person, immerse yourself in the garden and mountains and rivers, and slowly appreciate it all. It is recommended that you avoid the crowd when visiting, sit down quietly and slowly appreciate it, lean on the railing to look into the distance, and listen to the feeling of rain hitting banana leaves.
If you have enough time, you can visit the Lingering Garden. If you are short on time, you can choose the Humble Administrator's Garden.
The Humble Administrator's Garden is simple and elegant, while the Lingering Garden is dignified and delicate. Although both are pavilions and terraces built around water, they are of completely different styles. One garden contains four different scenes: mountains and rivers, countryside, forests, and gardens, which are full of poetry.
(But when I went there, I had a very bad impression of the Liuyuan Garden = = because the staff responsible for the free explanations were very bad-tempered, so I didn’t want to recommend it to others hhhh But the scenery was really amazing)
I have never been to the Humble Administrator's Garden, so I cannot compare it, but the Lingering Garden is beautiful enough to reflect the characteristics of Jiangnan gardens.
One of the four major gardens in China. There is a Taihu stone in it, which is very famous.
There are various performances in the Liuyuan Garden during the Qingming Festival, but I went too late and missed them all. I think it is unnecessary to go to the Liuyuan Garden after visiting the Humble Administrator's Garden.
The Lingering Garden is not very big. Due to the design of the courtyards, we actually kept circling around this small garden, walking over and over again. There are free guided tours in the Lingering Garden, but this way of playing is known to friends who travel with a group. Although you can learn some historical stories about the Lingering Garden, it is really a quick tour. However, the Lingering Garden is not big, and you can slowly savor it by yourself after listening to the explanation.
I went to the Humble Administrator's Garden on the first day, and was a little disappointed when I went to the Lingering Garden on the second day, because the Lingering Garden is very small, and their lobby and buildings are cramped, narrow, and dark, not as magnificent and sparse as the Humble Administrator's Garden. But it can be seen that the owner of this house at that time had a gentleman's mind, and their tables and chairs were all arranged in a square manner, but it didn't feel like he was a stubborn owner.
But the park has good features, there are boating and flute playing, people playing pipa and guqin, guzheng, dancing and watching camellia. I always feel that the scenery is not enough to be supplemented by artificiality. 😂
One of the four major gardens, the place is not very large, simple and small, with a different view at every step. There are various bonsai in the garden. And the ground is paved very beautifully.
Second day in Suzhou
Coincidentally, my family also came to Suzhou
So we decided to go play together.
The first stop was the Liuyuan Garden
One of the four major gardens in Suzhou
A lot of rockery piled up
There are also many potted plants🎍
Beautiful solid scenery
Although not as good as expected
However, as a Suzhou garden
It will not be ashamed of the representative
Gardens worth visiting
