The commercialization level of Luzhi Ancient Town is indeed not that serious. You can see that many houses are still residential, so you should avoid disturbing others and be civilized.

There are still only a few special snacks or items. Many businesses sell stinky tofu from other places. I don't know why there are quite a lot of tattoo shops and barber shops. I personally like the places in the scenic spot combination ticket. I recommend Baosheng Temple (Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall) and Xiao's House. The others are more ordinary or may need more enhanced content. It seems that the ticket price of 78 yuan is a bit expensive (you can buy it as low as 49 yuan in China-TravelNote, but you can't buy it on the day). You don't need a ticket just to visit the ancient town.

I was on a business trip to Suzhou and happened to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Luzhi. After checking in, I strolled to the ancient town of Luzhi. I have a liking for ancient towns, especially the water towns in the south of the Yangtze River, perhaps because my ancestral home is in Jiangsu.

Luzhi Ancient Town is not big and not so commercial. There are basically no people at 6 pm in this season. There are many friendly indigenous people living in the ancient town. You can always hear the sound of cooking with stoves and iron shovels, as well as crying and playing children. You can feel the simplicity of the folk customs of the water town and empty your heart because of the fatigue and anxiety of work. You can feel the tranquility and comfort of life here. When you are tired, it will be very rewarding to take a walk in the evening

The first time I saw the character “甪” in Luzhi

Honestly, I don't know what to read.

I quickly searched on the Internet and found out that it is pronounced “lù”!

This aroused my curiosity. How did the name "Luzhi" come about?

There are currently two theories about the origin of the name Luzhi.

The first one is said to be Luzhi, also known as "Liuzhi". It is surrounded by Wusong River, Qingxiao River, Jiepu River and Dongda River, and is close to Cheng Lake, Dushu Lake, Jinji Lake, Dianshan Lake, Yangcheng Lake and other lakes.

Therefore, it is known as the "Hall of Five Lakes" and the "Chong of Six Lakes", so the locals call it "Liuzhi".

"Liuzhi" and "Luzhi" are homophones in the Wuzhong dialect, and later it was gradually called "Luzhi" locally.

The second theory is related to "Luduan"

Who is Lu Duan?

Luduan is an ancient unicorn mythical beast. Legend has it that one day the mythical beast was inspecting the land of China and passed by Luzhi.

Seeing the abundant grass and water and beautiful scenery here, he decided to settle down here.

The divine beast brings good luck with it. Ever since it came to Luzhi, the place has been prosperous and peaceful with good weather and good harvests.

People called it "Luzhi" to express their gratitude to the mythical beast.

Tips:

Luzhi Ancient Town itself is free and does not require tickets.

However, if you want to visit the attractions inside, you need to buy tickets.

The main attractions in the town include Baosheng Temple, Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall, Shen's Residence, Wansheng Rice Shop, Xiao Fangfang Performing Arts Center, Wang Tao Memorial Hall, etc.

The ancient town is small, and half a day is enough if you don't visit any attractions that charge admission and just walk around the town.

There is public transportation from Suzhou to Tongli and Luzhi (subway + bus). You can navigate the specific route yourself.

There are many ancient towns around Suzhou, including Tongli, Luzhi, Mudu, Zhouzhuang, Jinxi, etc. It is not recommended to visit all of them as the scenery is too homogeneous and it is easy to get aesthetically fatigued. If time permits, choose two of them and savor them slowly.

This time we are going to visit two water towns, Tongli and Luzhi. In order to reduce aesthetic fatigue as much as possible, the itinerary is separated into the two places (to avoid the situation of visiting Tongli and then going to Luzhi). In between, we will visit Suzhou, Xiyuan Temple and Canglang Pavilion. Facts have proved that this decision is extremely wise and very friendly to my eyes.

Although both Tongli and Luzhi have small bridges, flowing water, bluestone streets, and old houses of varying heights, they each have their own characteristics.

Tongli is larger in scale and has a more regular layout, just like a lady from a noble family. Luzhi has more indigenous residents and is smaller in area, like a girl who grew up in the countryside, simple and unconventional.

Bridges were my first impression of Luzhi. The small ancient town is dotted with various ancient bridges. You would pass an ancient bridge every few steps.

No wonder there is a local saying: "If you don't look at the bridge when you arrive in Luzhi, it's as if you haven't been to Luzhi."

Luzhi is a town built on the basis of water. In its heyday, it had 72 semi-stone bridges. With the turbulent changes in history, 41 of them are still preserved today.

When I was in college, I often went off the beaten path. When I traveled, I also liked to go to niche attractions. So after discussing with my friends, we gave up famous ancient towns such as Zhouzhuang and chose Luzhi Ancient Town. When we went there, there were not many tourists. The quiet Luzhi Ancient Town, with small bridges, flowing water and houses, is picturesque.

Luzhi Ancient Town belongs to Wuzhong District of Suzhou City. It is located in the eastern part of Suzhou City, 18 kilometers west of Suzhou City and 58 kilometers east of Shanghai.

Luzhi Ancient Town is a 2,500-year-old Jiangnan water town with many rivers, bridges, lanes, ancient houses and celebrities. The main attractions include Baosheng Temple, Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall, Jiangnan Cultural Park, etc.

April 1st - October 31st 08:00-17:00; November 1st - March 31st of the following year 08:00-16:30; Cruise time: 8:30-16:00

Ticket price: 78.00 yuan

Time seems to be still in Luzhi Ancient Town, peaceful and tranquil. Strolling through the alleys, listening to the faint Suzhou folk songs, you can return to the old days.

By Dry Skiing |

Luzhi Ancient Town is also ranked high among the ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, but its current development is not high. It has ordinary small bridges, flowing water and houses, and no special features. The former residence of celebrities is only one house, and it is boasted to be 1,000 square meters. It can only be said to be so-so!

By Gavice |

Although Luzhi is listed among the six major ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, it is the least impressive one.

Because in the usual impression, when you talk about Jiangnan, you will think of Zhouzhuang, Wuzhen and Xitang... and then after thinking for a long time, you still can't remember where the sixth one is.

The first water town in China in the eyes of Mr. Fei Xiaotong. Some people say that this is the same as Beijing's Gubei Water Town?

It does look a bit similar, but Gubei Water Town is a water town that is performed for you. What flows under the walls and eaves is always tap water; and what flows under the bridges and beside the houses in these small towns is life.

By etaii |

Although Luzhi is not as famous as Zhouzhuang and Tongli, it is also one of the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River. It is not too large and can be visited in half a day. The ancient town is still inhabited by indigenous people for generations. The degree of commercialization is not as high as that of Zhouzhuang and Wuzhen, and the traditional lifestyle of people in the water village is preserved to the greatest extent.

The ticket price is 78 yuan per person. With the ticket, you can visit Baosheng Temple, Shen's House, Xiao's House, Wang Tao Memorial Hall, Water Town Costume Museum, Historical Relics Museum and Wansheng Rice Shop. Entrance to the ancient town is free, and tickets are only required to visit these attractions.

By Self-Sailing |

Luzhi Ancient Town is different from Zhouzhuang and Wuzhen. It is still inhabited by indigenous people from generation to generation, and the secular life of the ancient water town people has been preserved to the greatest extent. This is the soul of the ancient town. The local government adheres to the principle of restoring the old street buildings as they were and has formulated strict "house rules". All matters involving cultural heritage protection, cultural control and historical buildings must be strictly approved. This is the form of the ancient town. How can such a thousand-year-old water town with both spirit and form not make people love it.

The beautiful scenery of the Jiangnan water town benefits from the fame of "Three or Five More Bushels".

By fincen |

One of the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, it is the least famous among the six, so it is relatively less crowded. But the water town style remains unchanged.

By swjtu143007 |

Let's talk about transportation. You can take bus 111 from the South Bus Station and transfer to bus 109, or take bus 109 directly from the train station. It takes about an hour. The ancient town is not big and you can visit it in an hour.

By Watercolor car and Melaleuca |

I went there in the evening. There was a traffic jam before I got to the ancient town. I had to find a vacant spot on the roadside to park. It took 13 minutes to walk to the ancient town. Luzhi Ancient Town is really small. There is no ticket. It is open to the public for free. You can buy a package ticket for 78 yuan outside the ancient town, which includes Wansheng Rice Shop, Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall, Baosheng Temple, Shen's House, Xiao's House, Wang Tao Memorial Hall, Luzhi History Museum and other attractions. They are all useless and can be seen or not. The ancient town is still quite simple. It is not like Zhouzhuang and Xitang, which are all performances. It is enough to go there on the weekend and return on the same day in Shanghai. The mutton offal in the food street outside the town is delicious, especially the sesame cakes

By Little girl |

It was not a holiday, so there were almost no tourists, because many Taiwanese businessmen had withdrawn their capital from the nearby industrial park, and tourists were concentrated on weekends. But as a tourist, I really enjoyed the tranquility at this time, which was the water village style I imagined.

By Are you a juju fairy? |

Luguzhi Town is a very, very niche place, even more low-key than Zhouzhuang. The entrance to the ancient town is a short road similar to a snack street. After the entrance, there are bluestone slabs, small bridges and flowing water. We entered the ancient town at around 4:30. There were basically no people. There were occasionally one or two customers in the small shops and restaurants on both sides of the river. The shopkeepers sat on low stools by the river to chat and listen to music. The boats covered with traces of time were rowing slowly in the river. The kittens squatting in the corner were not afraid of people touching or hugging them. It can be said that it is a paradise to encounter such a place on National Day, and it is also the place in Suzhou that left the best impression on me.

By Michelin wants to lose weight |

The ancient town was a pleasant surprise on this trip. The small bridges, flowing water and people are very pleasant. It is worth spending a day to have a good look. The specialty shop is delicious and not expensive. I recommend dried radish, which is 8 yuan per pound per bag, which is very cheap. There are few people in the ancient town, so you can take good photos. Time has slowed down a bit, which makes people happy physically and mentally.

By Snow Ning Fang Er |

Luzhi and Zhouzhuang give me different feelings. Zhouzhuang has too much commercial atmosphere and a bit of overdevelopment. But Luzhi gives people a feeling of being far away from the world, still quiet, peaceful, far away from the fireworks, and a little mysterious...

Walking slowly along the slightly uneven bluestone road into the depths of the ancient street, there are scattered old houses on both sides: small workshops selling local specialties, teahouses and restaurants waiting for tourists to come in and taste, or small shops renting out ancient costumes for tourists to take photos... Here you can also see the "Wansheng Rice Shop" in Mr. Ye Shengtao's work "Three or Five More Bushels". The quiet river meanders through the ancient town, and from time to time, black-sailed boats gently pass by on the river, rippling shallow ripples on the water, and the black-sailed boats originally moored on the shore are also rippling with the waves... Walking along the ancient street, there are places to rest along the way, or long corridors, or low pavilions, and even the stone railings on both sides have become good places for tourists to rest and capture beautiful scenery.

We sat on the black-sailed boat and swayed gently on the river. There were not many boats on the river, and from time to time a small boat would leisurely pass by us. We sailed through the narrow channel, listened to the sound of the boats rowing, and enjoyed the scenery on both sides of the water street. We admired the intoxicating water village style on both sides, and took pictures from time to time to capture the beautiful scenery. Looking closely, we found that we were also becoming the scenery for tourists on the shore to take pictures. It is true that "you are looking at the scenery on both sides, and the scenery on both sides is also looking at you." Here, it seems that everyone wants to freeze this beautiful water village at this moment, frozen on the shore of Luzhi Lake...

Luzhi is the least famous among the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, and its commercial development is not very complete. It is located in the suburbs of Suzhou. To be honest, the transportation is quite difficult. If you take public transportation, you need to take a bus from Suzhou Railway Station, which takes about 2 hours.

Luzhi, a famous ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River, is located in the east of Suzhou City, 18 kilometers west of the urban area of Suzhou. It is known as "alleys with apricot blossoms and spring rain, sycamore trees with drizzle in the evening, and houses with small bridges and flowing water". With a civilization history of 2,500 years, Luzhi has the authentic characteristics of a water town in the south of the Yangtze River. It is amazing for its abundant water, ancient bridges, ancient streets and alleys, ancient houses, and ancient scenic spots; it is also famous for the many celebrities accumulated under the ancient culture, and is known as the first town of the water town in China.

The ancient town of Luzhi in the rain is plain and clean, with white walls, black tiles and green trees. The only thing allowed to embellish it is probably the graceful lady holding a flower umbrella.

By Qingqing |

Luzhi is full of a strong atmosphere of life, with a hint of Jiangnan, revealing a gentle atmosphere of fireworks.

By Flowers are flying everywhere in Jiangcheng |

Luzhi is one of the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River. It is not as well-known as Zhouzhuang and Tongli in Suzhou, and its scenery is not as good as Wuzhen, Xitang and Nanxun, but it has its own unique charm and is also the ancient town closest to Suzhou city.

By Ou Ge |

The town is quaint and worth recommending. Especially some spicy dried radish. Delicious.

I went there during the Qingming Festival. There were a lot of people. The ancient town is well preserved, with small bridges, flowing water and houses. The ancient town is not too big and is free. If you want to go, you can avoid holidays and walk around quietly. There are still many scenic spots for taking pictures.

By Monchhichi |

I arrived at the ancient town on Saturday night. The outside of the ancient town was much more lively than I expected. After dinner, I walked around the ancient town. There were basically no people. It was so quiet that I was a little scared. On Sunday morning, there were quite a lot of people entering the ancient town, but it was not too crowded. The ancient town is not big and can be visited in one or two hours. If you don’t visit the attractions, you don’t need a ticket. You can still take pictures of beautiful scenery in some places. If you have nothing to do on the weekend, you can relax by walking around for a while.

By kuailema |

You need to buy tickets to visit the scenic spots, but you don’t need tickets to enter the ancient town. The scenic spots are not as beautiful as Zhouzhuang, but there are 2-3 good spots to visit. The scenery inside is also better than Zhouzhuang. The flavor of the ancient town is stronger than Zhouzhuang.

Well, how should I put it? Let's look at this place dialectically. When I came here, my friend recommended it to me. This place was the first to be commercially developed, so I decided to choose this place. I originally thought it would be "small bridges, flowing water, and people", but I found that "small businesses are everywhere", the river water was not so clean due to debris, and the scenery was average, but I still took some beautiful photos of the ancient town.

It’s no surprise if you come, and it’s a pity if you don’t come.

Luzhi Ancient Town, the transportation is not very convenient, but it is no problem to drive by yourself. It is worth visiting. Baosheng Temple, Lu Guimeng Tomb, two thousand-year-old ginkgo trees, Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall, Wansheng Rice Shop, etc. Luzhi is similar to other water towns, but quieter, probably because not many people come.

By Cyanocyanine |

Luzhi is an ancient town worth visiting. There are many ancient towns in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, which are similar. Luzhi is not like a lady from a noble family, but like a beautiful girl from a small family, and is there gently. You don't need to buy a ticket to visit the ancient town. You can walk along the Qingqiao stone slabs on the river bank and see the small bridges and flowing water along the street shops. Even during the Golden Week, it is not as crowded as other ancient towns, but gives people a prosperous street scene. There will be another situation if you go there in the off-season. You can only park in the underground parking lot of the tourist center if you buy a joint ticket, otherwise the security guard will not let you go. Many cars were stopped. We went forward to find a parking lot. The sign at the door said free temporary parking lot. There were still people following us to charge (the invoices given back turned out to be two Kunshan bus tickets). We seriously suspected that they were pretending to be social personnel, because when we came back to pick up the car, we could no longer see anyone. These two points are the unsatisfactory aspects of Luzhi's tourism management.

By Ah Quan |

When you enter the ancient town, you will feel a sense of comfort and a sense of novelty unique to Luzhi Ancient Town. What I like about Luzhi is the water town buildings with white walls and black tiles on both sides of the river. There is a special atmosphere when you watch them by boat. To be honest, the buildings in Zhouzhuang are more or less stained with some worldliness. The white walls and black tiles of Luzhi Ancient Town have a faint sense of historical precipitation, which is closer to the impression of "Jiangnan Water Town". Lots of water and bridges are another feature of Luzhi Town. Luzhi has always enjoyed the reputation of "Bridge Capital" in Jiangnan. There were 72 and a half stone arch bridges in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties in the ancient town area of one square kilometer. There are 41 existing ones, with different shapes, characteristics and antique flavor. There are large stone bridges with multiple holes, small stone bridges with single holes, spacious arch bridges, narrow flat-top bridges, as well as highly decorative double bridges, sister bridges adjacent to each other on the left and right, and flat bridges that are convenient for the townspeople. There are 5 double bridges with two bridges connected at right angles.

Many places in Luzhi Ancient Town are still under renovation. In a few years, Luzhi will become even more beautiful.

By Temperature difference. |

I have been there several times before. The ancient buildings are well preserved. There is a small river in the ancient town, and there are wooden boats. You can take a ride to visit the ancient town and watch people coming and going on the shore. There is another kind of fun. The cultural park of the ancient town regularly has various programs to show the local culture vividly. It is said that the local specialty is dried radish, which is different from other places!

An ancient town near Suzhou, open to the public for free, with some paid attractions. You can buy a combined ticket at the Luzhi Tourism Distribution Center, or you can choose not to go. In downtown Suzhou, you can take a taxi to Luzhi Ancient Town, and half a day is enough. There are not many tourists in Luzhi, and the supporting facilities are also complete, and the scenery is beautiful. If you don't have time to go to Kunshan Zhouzhuang, you can choose to go to Luzhi.

By Yu Da Gou |

The waterways in Luzhi are more beautiful than those in Mudu and are less crowded, but the maintenance of the ancient buildings needs to be improved.

By The Begonia Remains |

I learned about Luzhi Ancient Town from the text "Three or Five More Bushels" when I was a student. I went to Luzhi Ancient Town for a tour in 2004 on a rainy day. The graceful southern girl holding an oil-paper umbrella, the Wansheng Rice Shop described by Ye Shengtao, the bridges of different styles in the Jiangnan water towns, the misty water lanes in the Jiangnan area, and the boat girl wearing a blue printed top and speaking the soft Wu dialect... I still remember them vividly.

By The Kite Chasing Years |

The ancient town is very close to Shanghai and is not very large, but it is indeed a Jiangnan water town and is quite distinctive. There are fewer people than in Wuzhen and Zhouzhuang.

By Insects |

No tickets are required to enter the town, but tickets are required to enter the scenic spots. Commercialization is not serious, it is worth recommending. Go early, otherwise it will be commercialized.

By The Fourth Lord |

If you visit Suzhou Water Town too much, you will find that they are all the same. Luzhi Ancient Town is very big, but the quality of the merchants here is really low. Regardless of whether you rip off tourists or not, some merchants actually dump the leftovers of customers directly into the river in the ancient town, causing great pollution to the river. The point is that you are a merchant, this is your home, if you don't take care of it and pollute your own environment, how can you make a living from the mountain?

By China-TravelNote users |

Luzhi Ancient Town has convenient transportation and rich culture. The aboriginals run their own small businesses contentedly without flattering buyers. They put their efforts into hand-made products, which have a focused and calm temperament. In the morning and evening, when the tourists leave, the ancient town is quiet and elegant. I really like it.

It only takes 4 hours to visit Luzhi Ancient Town. There is no entrance fee for Luzhi Ancient Town, but some small attractions in the ancient town require entrance fees. The ancient town has been commercialized, and there are small shops in the small streets and alleys. There are many local snacks that taste good and are not expensive.

If you want to experience the authentic ancient water town, you must go to Luzhi. In addition to the original buildings, ancient houses, and celebrity cultural museums, there is no commercialization there. Although there are shops in the town, the people are still very simple. The prices of meals are very cheap. You can also find small antiques you like in Shuobu Ke. Recommended.

It takes about an hour to drive from Shanghai, which is still very close. Online ticket sales are relatively cheap, and ticket collection is also very convenient. You can pick up tickets at the ticket window. There are black-covered boats at the gate, ¥100/boat, limited to 6 people. The river in the ancient town is relatively narrow, and it takes about 40 minutes to go back and forth. The boat girl will suggest that you spend some money to listen to her sing ditties in the local dialect. We spent ¥15 and asked her to sing a few songs. Sitting on the black-covered boat, looking at the streets and scenery on both sides of the river, listening to ditties, the artistic conception is still good and very comfortable. The ticket includes all the attractions inside, you can take a look and understand the culture of Luzhi. You can also stroll around the ancient town at will without spending tickets, go shopping, eat, and see the scenery. Compared with the six ancient towns in Jiangnan, the commercial atmosphere is not too strong, and there are relatively fewer people. At mealtime, you can find a restaurant by the river and eat local specialties. Although the ancient towns are similar, if you have nothing to do on weekends, it is still a good choice to spend a day strolling around.

I went to Luzhi Ancient Town, and had the same feelings and the same scenery. Now, together with Tongli Ancient Town, which I visited for the first time, I would like to present to you the scholarly style of the Jiangnan ancient town in summer.

By LErick |

The ancient town of Luzhi and the ancient city of Gusu were built in the same era. If Gusu is a talented and romantic man with a clever mind, then Luzhi is the beautiful woman from Jiangyou who is always by his side.

Luzhi is famous for its bridges, and the water here is even more lively. The cruise ships shuttle back and forth, creating a few ripples that echo with a distant charm. A few cormorants are placed on the boats like exhibits, but they feel at ease, as if they were born to be here. This makes the tourists feel at ease.

It was the end of November when I went there. I was tired from walking, so I sat down on a reclining chair under a tree. The shadows were sparse and slanting. The breeze blew, and the scenery floated in a halo, making people forget what season they were in. The so-called "tender winter" of the ancients can only be experienced at this time and place.

There are many ancient towns in Suzhou, and Luzhi is the closest one. A while ago, I went to Suzhou to visit relatives with my parents and baby. My third uncle insisted on driving us here for a walk. It was very fun. Cars can be parked on the roadside here without charge. Then we walked over, and there was no need for tickets. Luzhi is similar to other water towns. It may be quieter here, and there are not as many people as Shantang Street. There are people selling snacks and taking photos in ancient costumes, which is very interesting. There are also local residents living in it. I like the old houses here very much. Some of the dark green bricks and tiles are still affixed with celebrity stickers that were popular in the past. The specialty is dried radish. My third uncle's family loves it very much. We bought two bags but didn't eat much. The town is not big, and it is not tiring to walk around. It is quite beautiful.

The ancient town is not big, and it takes two hours to walk around. It is still relatively primitive. In addition to the scenic spots, there is no entrance fee. The pickles and braised meat are very special. Especially the elbows and pig's trotters, which are bright in color and attractive in aroma. If you are interested, you must try them.

I have heard that Luzhi is small, but after coming here, I feel that it is beyond my imagination. Coming here is not about size, we are talking about feelings. At this moment, can you feel the time, immerse yourself in that era, and recall how you lived as a child? The natural scenery of the ancient town and the natural life of the people here are simple, leisurely and happy.

Like Qiandeng and Jinxi, Luzhi is also a water town.

Water surrounds the town and water is the soul of the town.

It is said that Luzhi is also known as the Hall of Five Lakes.

The five lakes refer to: Yangcheng Lake, Dianshan Lake, Cheng Lake, Jinji Lake and Dushu Lake.

It can be seen that the Jiangnan water town is crisscrossed with rivers.

Luzhi is also an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River with a history of one thousand years.

It is said that it was originally called "Fuli".

After the Tang Dynasty, because Hedao Street was shaped like a "Lu", it was renamed to its current name.

In fact, the roads in Luzhi Ancient Town and Jinxi Ancient Town are well-connected, so no entrance fee should be charged at all. Tourists who have bought tickets will probably feel cheated.

Water town...

Worth savoring slowly...

It's especially good at night, I almost hallucinate. It's suitable for daydreaming...

There are coffee shops near the South Gate and many places to eat near the North Gate.

Luzhi Ancient Town is a 2,500-year-old Jiangnan water town with many rivers, bridges, lanes, ancient houses and celebrities. If you don't pay for the ticket, it's really good to come here to have a look. If you want to, it's actually a bit worthless!

It's just so-so, feels very average, a little small.

Compared with Zhouzhuang, Luzhi is not as commercialized. Without the bustling crowds of Zhouzhuang, Luzhi seems very deserted.

It costs 80 yuan per person to buy a ticket. When I went there, my friend drove me in directly. He said that I could go in directly without buying a ticket. The management was not very strict.

The ancient town is not very big, and you can visit it in two or three hours. You can walk around slowly. Each ancient town has its own characteristics. It depends on your personal preference.

The prices here are not expensive, you can buy the taste of childhood

Seeing the old lady washing the pot in the water, I couldn't imagine who was cooking with that pot.

I have been to Luzhi dozens of times. All in 2013.

It has not been developed much yet, there are many local residents, and you can see some original things

Luzhi is my favorite of the three ancient towns this time. Because there are few tourists and little development, it is very quiet and it is also the most beautiful one.

I can't afford to go to the ancient towns that require tickets, so I can only find free ones. I went to Mudu first, but it was too small and too modern. Then I crossed Suzhou and came to Luzhi. I really regret not coming here earlier! There are very few people, and it is very big, so you can walk around for a long time. There are small bridges and flowing water, as well as old buildings! If you don't want to buy tickets, this is the place to go!

Among the several ancient towns, I prefer Luzhi Ancient Town and Nanxun Ancient Town, especially Luzhi, which is not very commercialized. You can feel the simple folk customs and the ancient town culture here, and you don’t need a ticket!

It is about 80 kilometers from Shanghai to Luzhi, and it takes about an hour to drive there. We went to Zhouzhuang first. The water in Zhouzhuang is green, and the water in Luzhi is yellow. The scenery is similar. There is a meat shop just after entering Luzhi Town. The meat is delicious. I recommend honey and spicy beef jerky. The price is reasonable. There is also a handmade shop selling Liunian Banxia, which is worth visiting.

There are relatively few people in the ancient town, and I didn't see anyone selling tickets. Overall, it doesn't feel big, so you can just come in and take a look if you pass by.

I went to Luzhi at the end of 2013. I went there specifically for fun, but I was a little disappointed because I didn’t know what to do or see in Luzhi. Maybe I didn’t find it. Later I went to Suzhou.

We walked around for about 1.5 hours. Luzhi is very small, the road is very narrow, and it seemed crowded on Sunday.

After getting off the bus at the bus stop, you will pass by a public toilet on your way to the ancient town. The light is a little dim, but the environment is clean.

The shops in Luzhi also sell pickles, candies (peanut candies, sesame candies, etc.), costume photography, Aozao noodles, wontons, pearls... If you move away from the shops, the flow of people will be very small. Friends who like ancient towns will love taking photos.

It is great to go to Zhouli when there are few people. It is not large in scale, but it shows the charm of the water town. The ticket is a little expensive at 78 yuan.

The artificial traces in this place are too obvious, it's rather stiff.

The last ancient town on this trip, although small, its scenery is not inferior to Xitang.

I took the train for an hour to Suzhou Station, and then took the urban and rural bus to Luzhi Ancient Town at the bus station next to it. It took about 2 hours to arrive. It was evening when I arrived at the ancient town. The town outside the ancient town was very prosperous. When I went there at night, the scenic spot was closed, so I went directly into the scenic spot. Luzhi is actually not big. I finished the tour in an hour. Although it is small, it has everything, and the night view is beautiful. After a night's rest, I got up in the morning to see the daytime view of Luzhi. Luzhi is the first water town in China. I still want to say again that the ancient town is really small, it is simply a miniature of other ancient towns. The inspection of Luzhi is not strict, so I went into the ancient town without buying a ticket for the first time.

The ancient town style, holding an umbrella, taking pictures by the river, walking on the stone road, it would be more comfortable if there were fewer people

By China-TravelNote users |

Luzhi Ancient Town still has some characteristics, similar to Tongli

Before coming here, I knew very little about Luzhi. After going deep into the hinterland, I felt that the trip was worthwhile. Luzhi Ancient Town. 2,500 years of civilization history, ancient bridges, ancient streets and ancient houses. Zhouzhuang is well-known, which makes this place much quieter. Strolling leisurely on the bluestone slabs and small stone bridges, you can feel the natural tranquility of the ancient town. Because this is the second hometown of Mr. Ye Shengtao, I was fortunate to see the Wansheng Rice Shop, tall ginkgo trees, and Shengsheng Farm described by the old man. There are endless surprises...

By Uncle 11 on his global tour |

Compared with Zhouzhuang, it is not very famous, but it is surprisingly good. Although the commercial atmosphere remains unchanged, the beautiful women along the river are really nice.
