Because I stayed in the mountains and my car was also on the mountain, I didn't take the cable car. The scenery is beautiful, with rapeseed flowers, people drying autumn crops (because it is not in season, there are only a few symbolic ones), and various snacks. Wuyuan is known as "the most beautiful village in China". The rapeseed fields all over the mountains in spring and the well-preserved Hui-style buildings are the signature attractions of Wuyuan tourism.



Wuyuan tourism is divided into three routes: the East Line, the North Line and the West Line.



There are many places to see rapeseed flowers in Wuyuan, but they are relatively scattered. Since we didn’t want to travel, we chose the Xiling scenic spot.



We stayed at the foot of the Xiling Mountain. Because the weather was bad that day, we decided to go up the mountain the next day when the weather was better. But we were not idle on the first day. We climbed along the path to the tourist center of the scenic area. The path was a bit winding, but the scenery along the way made people feel relaxed.



You need to take a cable car to reach the scenic area. Drying the autumn sun is the biggest scenery of Xiling.

In the scenic area, we went to the strange house and used the visual effects to attract many people to stop and take pictures.



There are a lot of people during the flower blooming season, not only tourists but also students. Most of the students are organized by their schools to go sketching.



There are really too many people in the scenic area. Look at the terraced fields and the Hui-style buildings, and the rest is the same as other ancient towns, nothing special.

Again, there were just too many people. It happened to be the blooming season, and there were so many people going to Wuyuan to see the flowers that on the way back, the traffic was jammed like a blooming flower.



Later I read Weibo and found out that Xie Tong and Guan Guan from Ode to Joy had taken a field trip in Zhiling. I also walked through the place where Deng Lun had filmed before. I was so happy🤪

You must stay in Huangling for a day. Arrive at 3 or 4 pm, check in at the hotel and visit Tianjie. At this time, most of the group tourists have already gone down the mountain. Have dinner at Tianjie Restaurant. There is only one restaurant in the scenic area, so don't have too much hope, just fill your stomach. After dinner, you can walk on the ridge. There are several exhibition areas open to tourists in the scenic area, where you can learn about the local folk customs and famous inns. Get up at 5 or 6 o'clock the next day to visit the sea of flowers. At this time, the scenic area is open to you alone, and you can take whatever photos you want. After visiting the sea of flowers, go to Tianjie Restaurant for breakfast. The most memorable thing is that there is a small dish for breakfast that looks like bamboo shoots and seems to be vegetable heart, which is very refreshing. After breakfast, feel the lively Tianjie or experience the exciting zip line. Then you can pack up the beautiful photos and memories and start the next journey...

The ticket to Huangling Scenic Area is 140 yuan, and you have to take a long cable car to get in and out. Although the weather was rainy, Huangling still gave us too many surprises. In a nutshell, there is the literary and artistic petty bourgeoisie of Gulangyu, the scattered and unique mountain city of Chongqing, the white walls and green tiles unique to Huizhou, and the famous Huangling autumn sunning... Even if we traveled far in the rain, we felt it was worth it.

After passing two bridges, we turned back to Tianjie. The scenery along the way was naturally beautiful. The snacks on Tianjie all had their own stories. Many of the shops played pictures of the owners participating in TV variety shows, creating a sense of honor for tourists to be close to the stars: the snacks that have been on TV are right in front of you, why not try them quickly?

We went to avoid the rain and fill our stomachs, but the biggest reason was that we were greedy - we tasted special yogurt, big meat skewers, and king sausage. After returning home, the children would imitate the boss of the king sausage from time to time, and they were so lifelike that the whole family laughed: secret king sausage, delicious, don't eat king sausage, you will regret it when you go home, if you don't want to regret it, you can try it, fresh pork, skewered and stuffed at home...

Thousands of acres of terraced fields are typical Wuyuan scenery. Huangling doesn’t grow rapeseed, it grows scenery! We took the newly built cable car directly to the highest point, slowly strolled along the viaduct to the village, Tianjie, then crossed the Leixin Bridge and came to the terraced fields to enjoy the sea of flowers, and finally returned to the highest point and took the cable car back to the parking lot.

In fact, the roadside scenery on the way to the small scenic spots in Wuyuan is very good. There is no need to enter the scenic spots. The scenic spots are very similar, and the ancient villages are almost the same. If you want to go, you can just pick one and go in. The rapeseed terraces and autumn drying in Huangling are somewhat special, but the tickets are not included in the pass and need to be purchased separately. The ticket including the cable car is 145. The rapeseed flowers in Huangling bloom relatively later than those in the plains outside. We arrived a little before the peak flowering season, and it felt okay. There was no traffic jam, and there was no queue for the cable car. Don't go on weekends during the peak flowering season. I saw that the traffic was stuck for at least 6 hours on those two days. Fortunately, we avoided it. The traffic jam plus the queue for the cable car would probably make you collapse.

The shooting angle is determined by the position you squeeze in, and it is impossible for you to take pictures left and right. Fortunately, the village of Huangling has been relocated as a whole. You can enter and exit some houses at will. It is not the best shooting point, but you can create slowly! In addition, the entire Huangling Village is also worth visiting. It is very simple and very charming! There are several persimmon trees in the village, which are definitely the best props for posing.

There are a lot of people in Huangling. On the day I went there, almost all I saw were photography enthusiasts carrying two cameras. You must pay attention to your equipment, as there is a high possibility of bumping into each other while walking.

"Huangling Sun Drying Autumn" is the iconic landscape symbol of Huangling in Wuyuan, Jiangxi. Sun Drying Autumn is a typical agricultural custom. Villagers living in mountainous areas in Anhui and Jiangxi have to use the front and back of their houses and their own windowsills and roofs to dry crops due to the complex terrain and very little flat land in the village. Over time, it has evolved into a traditional agricultural custom.

The mountain road is more than 5 kilometers long, and the road is narrow and winding. Drive carefully. Park your car at the Xiaolong Visitor Center. From here, you can walk directly into the Huangling Scenic Area in a few minutes. The ticket is 120 yuan, which saves the cable car fee and queue time.

Coming to Huangling in autumn is obviously for the sun drying. Therefore, we chose to go directly to the 3rd and 2nd viewing platforms (the 1st viewing platform is for viewing the thousand-acre terraced fields) through Tianjie, which not only saves energy but also allows us to visit the key scenery of Huangling at the moment - the sun drying.

Looking down from the cable car, the neat rows of new houses are the happy and peaceful homes of Huangling people today. In 2009, in order to develop tourism and protect the ancient village, the entire property rights of Huangling Village were transferred and relocated to Xinjian at the foot of the mountain (except for a few elderly people who did not want to leave), achieving a win-win situation for the villagers, developers and the government.

I have seen the classic scene of drying autumn crops in Huangling many times in the media before. Seeing it with my own eyes and experiencing it on the spot, I was very excited. For generations, the villagers of Huangling have been accustomed to communicating with the rugged mountains where "the ground is not flat for three feet" with a peaceful attitude. We set out from Likeng in the morning and followed the navigation to Huangling Scenic Area. It was still relatively early when we arrived, around 9 o'clock, and there were already a lot of cars and people. Let me say here that we bought the Huangling ticket + cable car for 136 yuan, which we bought online. However, I saw a lot of people queuing for the cable car at the foot of the mountain, so I decided to drive up the mountain. Facts proved that I was right, and we were not allowed to go up the mountain half an hour later.

Sitting on the cable car and looking down, you can see tens of thousands of acres of terraced fields. The green ones are rapeseed seedlings, but unfortunately the rapeseed flowers have not yet bloomed.

Climbing up the mountain road is Tianjie. The nearly 500-meter-long "Tianjie" ancient alley is lined with Hui-style shops, teahouses, wine shops, umbrella shops, bookstores, inkstone shops, and bamboo shops, full of ancient charm.

Further up are the people who dry their crops in the sun during the autumn. Although there is an element of showmanship in the drying of crops in Huangling, the combination of the pink and green tiles and the colorful drying plates is still quite impressive.

Taking photos, strolling, enjoying the scenery, and breathing fresh air are all worth going. I heard that in the spring rapeseed season, cars have to park in Jiangwan, eight kilometers away, and there are not many people enjoying the autumn season. The villagers of Huangling have moved to the foot of the mountain. Most of the people in the village are businessmen and tourists. The houses are said to have been rebuilt. This is a tourist attraction built for tourists, but it is still built like a primitive ancient village. Don't mind, just relax and enjoy the scenery.

Every autumn, villagers dry peppers, wild chrysanthemums, corn, soybeans and other crops on the roofs of houses built against the mountain or on wooden poles outside window railings. This way of drying crops, which has been passed down from generation to generation, coupled with blue sky and white clouds, pink walls and black tiles, bougainvillea and wild flowers all over the mountains, and sparse red maple and persimmon trees, has become a unique landscape that attracts tourists from home and abroad - Huangling Autumn Drying.

When I went to Wuyuan in autumn, I mainly went to enjoy the autumn, so I made some choices in the selection of scenic spots, but Huangling Autumn Drying was the most desirable and I arranged the most time. The driver said that the Huangling Scenic Area has a good experience. At that time, the development company first built sufficient three-story row villas next to the rural road at the foot of the mountain with convenient transportation and close to the farmland of the village, and resettled the original villagers. The relocated population replaced the old houses on the mountain with new houses at the foot of the mountain, so this scenic area was developed with unified planning. The overall management level of the scenic area is high, and the "authenticity" of the ancient village culture is maintained. Maybe using photos to express it is a good proof, but it is better to visit this Huizhou ancient village on the cliff in person and be blinded by the scenes of drying autumn~

The cable car ride takes about ten minutes. The yellow field at the foot of the mountain is the Wuyuan chrysanthemum that you will see along the way. It is also a good time to sell fresh chrysanthemums inside and outside the scenic area. I have been to many small towns and old cities in Europe, and the beauty of Huangling in the autumn sun is special.

Some of the drying platforms are walkable, while others are only for viewing. If you want to take pictures of people, you have to wait until there are fewer people.

The pink walls and black tiles are arranged in an orderly manner, and the red peppers, yellow corns, white beans, and golden chrysanthemums... are stunning in the autumn! People who love photography are simply like falling into a rice jar when they come here, at least this is the case with me and my friend, haha.

Huangling is really beautiful, and taking photos there feels a bit like cheating.

Finally, we arrived at Leixin Bridge. We didn't plan well, and when we saw that the bridge deck was made of plastic, we thought we were cheated, so we took photos at the bridge head and went back. In fact, the glass bridge section is in the middle of the bridge! What a pity!

The night view of Huangling didn’t amaze me, but on the way back to the B&B, I saw the starry sky that I hadn’t seen in more than ten years. The sky was full of stars, and my bestie and I were so happy!

If Wuyuan is known as "the most beautiful village in China", then Huangling must be the heart of the place. In spring, there are rapeseed fields all over the mountains. In autumn, there are lively autumn sunning and red leaves. The red leaves against the backdrop of the quaint buildings bring a different kind of vitality to Huangling before winter. The white-walled and black-tiled Hui-style buildings add an antique texture to the place.

It used to be a natural village on the mountain, but it was later renovated by the local government. There are many small inns on Huangling, and you don't need to pay for tickets to stay in the inns.

There are many things about Huangling's attractions on the Internet, so I won't repeat them~ It's a pity that I didn't see the autumn sun drying in the rain, but I saw obvious mountain fog! The attractions in Huangling are all circular, and there is no need to worry about forks in the road because they will all go around and come back in the end. The Hui-style buildings are quaint and have a strong folk customs. It is still very interesting to stroll around with an umbrella. I saw a lot of colorful small flower baskets and very warm and soft shops. I walked all the way from the cableway entrance, narrow streets, high and low houses on both sides, and all kinds of business. I bought some sesame cakes (30/bag), fried dough twists (20/bag), and rice milk (12/cup) along the way. Many people are concentrated in the area of drying autumn leaves. In fact, when we go back and reach the second fork, there are fewer people. But it may be because there are fewer people in the afternoon. We first went straight to the strange house, and we stopped and walked on the way to see many attractions. The brush in the academy can write ink by dipping it in water! There are also many interesting shops. The things in the food street do not have a big local feature, and they feel quite ordinary. Continue to walk forward and you will reach the fork of Woyun Bridge. At this time, there are basically no people. We walked from the upper road (because we met a security guard who said it was easier to walk up and down), and the lower road was a zip line. The upper road passed through the high-altitude plank road, and there was a section of transparent glass in the middle! Walking along it all the way, you can reach the No. 2 viewing platform and see the panoramic view of the terraced fields. Continue to walk to Woyun Bridge. There are several red leaf trees on the road, which look very beautiful with dew. After that, we took a zip line (50/person) and slid for a while. It was very comfortable to feel the wind blowing across the terraced fields! I saw many photography enthusiasts taking pictures along the way. We were the only two people walking and stopping halfway. We were looking for the delicious rice wine and steamed cakes mentioned online. Steamed cakes are on the first floor of Yixin Building (a wedding room with two floors, very beautiful in red~). There is a very small table and an old lady selling them. This is the only one. Don't miss it! We thought the stall was too small and thought there would be a big store selling them in the food street behind. But there wasn't any. We walked around and didn't go back. Yixin Building was a little far away so we didn't go there.

You can stay in Huangling the night before like we did, so that you can enter the park as soon as possible the next morning. Otherwise, when the tourist army arrives, you will have to queue up for the cable car and the like. There will be more and more people in the park, and the sightseeing experience will not be particularly good. To go to Huangling, you have to go up the mountain. The ticket plus the cable car costs 140 yuan, and the discount ticket (such as our college students) is 120 yuan. Our time was a little special. We were stopped by an older sister at the entrance of the scenic area. She said that her husband could drive up the mountain. A car cost 100 yuan round trip. There were four of us, and the average cost was 25 yuan per person. After going up the mountain, we bought separate tickets for 60 yuan, which was more cost-effective. There should be a lot of people soliciting customers at the entrance of the scenic area. You can decide based on the actual number of people and the type of ticket you buy. Some maple leaves on the mountain have turned red. The red maple leaves scattered on the stone road add a sense of tranquility and beauty to this country road. The Huangling Scenic Area is relatively large. It is recommended to play for most of the day and walk along the stone road. You can see a magnificent building. It turned out to be the local [wedding room] in the past. No wonder it is decorated so prosperously. Then we came to [Tianjie], which is the main road of Huangling. It is called Tianjie, but it is actually a food street with many small shops. You can try the local specialties here. Of course, the prices are relatively expensive. The windows here are also very uniquely designed, with a strong ancient style and very elegant. We entered the scenic area at about 9 o'clock in the morning and stayed there for more than 4 hours. We came out of the park at a little after 1 or 2 o'clock.

Wuyuan is a special place. What people talk about most is the so-called "drying autumn crops". Every household in the area takes out boxes of peppers, chrysanthemums, and medicinal herbs to dry outside every day. Then, standing on a high place, you can see a colorful scene with layers of terraced fields in the distance. This is how CCTV's most beautiful villages came about. But the problem is that after the development of this scenic spot, the villagers moved away, or opened homestays and started catering. Now, no one is farming, and no one is drying things. The large area of colorful crops disappeared instantly. The photos of young ladies drying autumn crops you see on the Internet are actually taken at one or two scenic spots, with only one or two square meters of drying autumn crops area.

But it is not fair to Wuyuan to single out the sun drying in autumn. There are many beautiful places in Wuyuan. For example, there are many places to take great photos, such as the check-in points on the China map, the rockery and green water, the terraced fields, the glass suspension bridge, etc. So, overall, it is still highly recommended, with a playability index of more than 4.5 stars, although the sun drying in autumn is discounted, which is a little regrettable.

You don't have to go when the rape flowers are in bloom or in the autumn to dry the sun. It looks beautiful at ordinary times, and there will be fewer people. The Hui style of architecture is beautiful.

The place for drying crops in the sun is in the ancient village tourist area. Due to the terrain restrictions, the houses in the village are arranged at different heights and built in a staggered manner. Surrounding them are towering ancient trees. Villagers use bamboo plaques to dry their crops on wooden racks in front of their windows, forming a unique "drying crops" landscape with red and yellow colors competing for beauty.



Two suspension bridges, one large (Leixin Bridge) and one small (Woyun Suspension Bridge), are built in the mountains of the terraced fields. The mountains are densely covered with terraces. Start from Observation Deck No. 1, walk across Leixin Bridge, pass Observation Deck No. 2, Woyun Suspension Bridge (small bridge), Observation Deck No. 3, and finally return to the ancient village. On the way, you can see the panoramic view of Huangling Village, the chrysanthemum fields, the colorful flower fields, and the autumn scenery in the mountains.

The ticket to Huangling is not included in the Wuyuan Pass and needs to be purchased separately, but its scenic spots are one of the most beautiful in Wuyuan. If you come to Wuyuan for tourism, you must not miss it.

This village located on the mountain has been around for 500 years. The old houses are fan-shaped and spread all over the southern foot of the mountain. Another thing that impressed me deeply in Huangling was the trees here. Every time I go to a place, I pay close attention to the local trees. The most recommended one is the sun drying workshop. It is a three-story residential building and an excellent viewing platform for a bird's eye view of the autumn colors of the village. Hanging on the cliff, the ancient village of Huangling has no flat ground. After parking, check in and buy tickets (120/person) at the special counter of the visitor center. The cable car fee is waived for accommodation, and there is no need to queue for the cable car. Residents can take the cable car as many times as they want before checking out. (But we didn't take it. The cable car time is 7:30-17:30). After the cable car goes up the mountain, a special concierge car will take you to the front desk. We drove up the mountain. Turn right at the first security booth on the right hand side of the visitor center. You will see the hotel sign. Except for the places where the camera must reach, many houses have nothing on the roof to dry. There are only houses and poles. The shops are very neatly opened. It is undeniable that Huangling Village has become commercialized. Most of the original residents have moved away, and those who remain are engaged in various tourism businesses.

However, the complete village layout built on the mountain and a large number of residential buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties are still the most representative among the villages in Wuyuan.

Although drying autumn leaves may seem like catering to tourists, it is not easy to stick to it all year round.
