Before I went to Dalian, people who had been to Dalian recommended going to Shengya, saying that it was newer than Laohutan. I thought that Shengya was also close to Xinghai Square, so I wanted to visit both places together. After reading the reviews, I decided to go to Shengya.

When we got to Dalian, a local friend suggested we go to Tiger Beach. Haha, I decided to listen to the locals and went to Tiger Beach. It was the May Day holiday, so of course we had to queue up to buy tickets and get in, but the queues weren't slow. Inside, there were a lot of people, but everyone could see everything because people were moving forward, so it felt okay. Haha, after all, I saw everything I needed to see.

Because there were so many people, we didn't plan to see any performances, figuring we'd see them if we could, and forget it if we couldn't. We ended up making it all the way. The first museum we visited was the Polar Museum. The show started at 11:20 PM. We arrived at 11:15 AM, and the seats were already full. We stood, but we still managed to see the show, which was decent and quite exciting. The Polar Museum was pretty good, but I still think the Harbin Polar Museum is better, just my personal opinion.

Then we went to the Marine Zoo, which is the one on a big ship. It was average. We also caught up with the sea lion show, which was much worse. There was basically no animal performance, only human performances. However, in this place you could feed the sea lions, which you have never experienced in other places. It was not expensive, 10 yuan for a bucket of fish, and the sea lions ate it with relish. I was annoyed by the person who took the fish and deliberately teased the sea lions.

After leaving the Marine Zoo, you can stay on the big boat for a while. The scenery here is particularly good, and it is very comfortable to look out at the sea. Then there is a beach here, the kind with sand, and the water is clean. The children played there for half a day and got sunburned, haha.

We took the cable car back and forth. The food here is also good. The cold noodles at the hand-pulled restaurant are all 10 yuan. It's quite refreshing to eat by the sea, haha.

I think Tiger Beach is pretty good, and it's easy to get a taxi when you leave, much easier than the Forest Zoo. Recommended!

I personally prefer Tiger Beach Ocean Park! It's divided into five halls: the Polar Hall, the Marine Zoo, the Coral Hall, the Happy Theater, and the Bird's Singing Forest. I recommend exploring the first four halls before heading to the Bird's Singing Forest, and then returning directly. Remember to grab a map when entering the park and plan your time accordingly. Especially at the Happy Theater, be sure to line up early to secure a good spot! The Marine Zoo also has feeding time, so don't miss the frenzied fight between sea lions and seals. The Polar Hall, Coral Hall, and Bird's Singing Forest are all yours to explore at your leisure.

Attractions: The only advantage of visiting in winter is the crowds. I bought a 180 yuan package on China-TravelNote (a non-refundable 170 yuan ticket for all four museums), and only visited the Coral Reef, Polar Reef, and Marine Reef. The optimal route (to avoid unnecessary detours) is to visit the Polar Reef first, then the Coral Reef, and finally the Marine Reef. Since the cable car and boat ride from the Marine Reef to the Bird's Singing Forest are closed in winter, getting to the Bird's Singing Forest requires exiting the park gate and taking other public transportation. The starting taxi fare is about the same as the distance. Below are some separate introductions to each of the three museums (I didn't go to the Bird's Singing Forest because it was too cold).

Polar Pavilion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: The most attractive part of the pavilion is the dolphin show, which takes place at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, each lasting about half an hour. After the show, the staff interacts with the audience by throwing two large balls, and whoever catches the ball gets a prize. Four staff members interact with the four dolphins, making it a worthwhile experience for those who haven't seen a show before. The rest of the pavilion is unremarkable, so I wouldn't recommend it. The restrooms are quite funny, and the Mediterranean-style kindergarten is a must-see.

Coral Museum ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: Opposite the Polar Museum, it is a small storefront, but it has a unique atmosphere. The treasure of the town is undoubtedly the jellyfish area inside. Accompanied by classical music (you can still hear it when there are fewer people), watching the jellyfish dancing freely in the water, it really feels like watching a dance that never ends. The graceful dance moves and pure and transparent bodies are intoxicating. Just this one view makes me feel that it is very worthwhile. Highly recommended

Sea Animal Museum ⭐️⭐️: I would not go if I could avoid it. The sea animals are cute, but they are too far away to see clearly. It is a waste. I suggest adding more animals.

My original motivation for coming here was that I felt I had to visit such a famous place. Honestly, if a large park like this doesn't undergo a radical overhaul, it's only as good as it gets. But a comprehensive upgrade would be enormous, both financially and time-consuming. Anyway, there are already a lot of people every day, and the ticket price is quite high. Since I'm making money by keeping it open, why not?

After finishing the Coral Gallery, I rushed to the Polar Gallery to see "Dreaming of Tahiti." Not only was the auditorium packed, but there were also standing room. There was nothing I could do but wait for the next show.

While I was waiting for a table, my child and his father were outside watching beluga whales and sea lions swimming around in the not very large space.

Here's a tip: if you want a good seat, enter the venue right after the previous show ends, grab a seat as quickly as possible, and then wait for the next show to start while watching the vendors come and go. VIP seats are also available for purchase at the door, reserving the best seats without having to rush in. They cost 100 yuan per person.

The organization here leaves me speechless. Why aren't there scheduled shows, with appropriate times and orderly releases? If there's a large crowd, a half-hour interval should be more than enough. Instead, the flow of people in and out is mixed and overlapping, and there's even scrambling for seats. Soon after you sit down, waves of people arrive to sell food, water, souvenirs, and make it seem like you have to buy. Of course, the staff won't force you to buy, but the kids just want everything they see. Furthermore, after the show begins, the vendors are seen walking around, which really detracts from the experience.

We sat and ate lunch while waiting for the show.

The show was decent, lasting about 20 minutes. There were some foreign performers, and some interaction. The main characters were dolphins or beluga whales, but the overall show wasn't long. While it was a good show, there weren't any surprises.

After watching the show, we went to see the Sea Animal Museum.

The sea lions and seals here are all lazily gathered in the feeding area waiting to be fed. For feeding, you can buy a bucket of a few small fish for 30 yuan, which can be used for more than ten minutes. Children are all small and have to queue.

I don't want to go to the Bird's Singing Forest anymore.

The so-called cross-sea cable car was not even 100 meters long, and I suddenly lost interest in it.

Finally, I went to the beach and waded in the water for a while.

Later, we happened to catch the performance of "Rich Girl Falls in Love with Me" at the Happy Theater. The actors were very hard-working and the performance lasted about 20 minutes. The pavilion was a little smaller than the Polar Pavilion, so the view was better and the host's speech was quite funny.

Afterwards, we returned to the children's playground at the entrance and played some amusement facilities such as aerial bicycles.

Tiger Beach Ocean Park Tour Route: Bird's Singing Forest - Marine Animal Hall - Happy Theater - Polar Hall - Coral Hall - Exit the park and take the subway to Fisherman's Wharf one stop. (We took the reverse route to get to Fisherman's Wharf more easily.)

Since we went to the Bird's Singing Forest Pavilion early in the morning, there were not many tourists. We took various photos casually and interacted with peacocks, flamingos, and red-crowned cranes, having a lot of fun.

Tip: If you have been to Chimelong, don’t have too high expectations, after all, it is not on the same scale.

Tiger Beach was the most complicated and changeable itinerary on this trip. I was torn between it and Sanya for a long time, but my colleagues in Dalian, friends who had been there, and the comments online all supported Tiger Beach (but it was only a recommendation from Sanya, and people had mixed reviews about Tiger Beach). But after visiting it personally, I felt that Tiger Beach was worth the money. Not only was the Polar Hall’s animal show very popular, but the Coral Hall was also a different world with a very rich variety of marine life. The Birdsong Forest across the bay was also full of surprises. After all, it is a 5A scenic spot and it did not disappoint.

By China-TravelNote users |

Tiger Beach isn't as good as Sun Asia. Personally, I think the four halls of the Sun Asia Aquarium are adjacent. The animals, fish, and corals are all worth seeing. It wasn't tiring to tour all four halls, and I even saw two good shows. Afterward, we went sailing, fed the pigeons, and spent the entire afternoon at the beach. In the evening, we walked along the beach to Xinghai Square, which took about 10 minutes, and tried out the many rides. Overall, it was really good. My child said Tiger Beach was boring. The animals, fish, corals, and shows were all inferior to Sun Asia! I don't know why people recommend Tiger Beach! Speechless! The pictures are of Sun Asia Aquarium. My child didn't find Tiger Beach interesting, so I didn't take any pictures!

Combining online strategies and personal practice, I would like to share some tips.

1. The ticket price is 220 during the peak season. You can buy it online, which is 40-50 cheaper. It will be even lower if there is an event. You can get a pass to all five venues, and there is no need to buy a cable car ticket (mentioned in the next post). The ticket I bought was picked up by the travel agency staff after on-site registration. Don't listen to her, just listen to me.

2. The park is divided into two parts, north and south, each with its own gate. Once you exit, you can't re-enter. A pedestrian bridge and an aerial cableway connect the two. The main venues are in the north, and the Bird's Singing Forest is in the south. Each venue requires a separate ticket. Once you exit, you can't re-enter. The cableway costs 60 yuan one way and 80 yuan round trip. While the distance is short, you still have to climb a mountain road up and down, which is less efficient than walking.

3. The park is quite large, so to save time and effort, we recommend arriving at 8:00 AM. The order of visit is: Coral Hall → Polar Hall (9:30 AM Beluga Whale and Dolphin Show) → Happy Theater (10:30 AM Seal and Walrus Show) → Marine Animal Hall → Birdsong Forest (1:00 PM Parrot Show, 1:30 PM Bird Show). A quick note about the parrot show: there's a coin-grabbing segment at the end, and the parrots won't even respond if you're offered a single dollar. See the performance schedule below.

4. In addition to the five venues, there are many self-funded projects, such as carousel, boat trips, buying seagull food to feed seagulls, etc. However, there is also a free beach for children to play, so you can prepare some sand play tools.

5. There are night shows from 17:00 to 21:00 in summer, with cheap tickets and performances.

6. When leaving, it's easy to get a taxi or bus from the main gate. If you're at the entrance to Bird's Singing Forest, you'll have to rely on your luck. Taxis that drop people off rarely use meters, and the fare to the main gate is 10 yuan. Binhai Road has odd-even license plate restrictions during holidays, so even Didi is difficult to get, so you can only rely on a metered taxi driver who's on your way.

By S Angel Love Hair Loss Y |

I bought tickets online and read reviews saying that some people get tickets from the tour guide, and some people swipe their ID cards. Don't be greedy for cheapness. Convenience is the first priority. If the weather is good, it is suitable for strolling here. If you want to go to the Bird's Singing Forest, you need to buy a cable car ticket because it is not in the same park. Once you go out, you can't come back.

By walk slowly |

Tiger Beach is Dalian's 5A-level aquarium, located on the seaside in Zhongshan District, so you can see the sea view when you enter the park. Tiger Beach peak season ticket price is 220, and discounted ticket price is 150. It is cheaper to book tickets online. It is divided into five major venues: Coral Tube, Polar Hall, Happy Theater, Ocean Master Hall, and Bird's Singing Forest. Each has its own characteristics, so don't miss any of them. Go to the visitor center after entering the gate to get a map and performance schedule, and arrange your own itinerary according to the performance. You can only enter each venue once, so be sure to have enough fun before leaving. You can take the cable car to the Bird's Singing Forest, or walk out of the scenic area gate or take a taxi (10 yuan). Many free-range birds in the Bird's Singing Forest are not afraid of people, so it is very suitable for taking pictures.

During the May Day holiday, I drove from Beijing to Dalian. I hadn't originally planned to visit any of the attractions, but after reading about them, I was drawn to Ocean Park. It was incredibly crowded during the holiday. We bought round-trip cable car tickets, and the line for the ride took 40 minutes. Then, it was a three-minute ride to the Bird's Singing Forest, where we spent the longest time. There were so many free-range birds, and we could interact with them closely. They weren't too afraid of people. Perhaps it's because the capital lacks large bird parks like this, but I found this area particularly interesting. We also tried two new attractions, one of which is similar to Soar Over the Horizon at Shanghai Disneyland, but longer, and quite enjoyable. It would have been nice to see all of Dalian's famous sights.

By Comb parasol |

The ticket price was around 200 yuan, but it was incredibly worth it. I had seen beautiful photos of jellyfish on Ctrip, so I was really looking forward to seeing them. The actual visit exceeded my expectations. There was a wall of jellyfish (with a light show), and there were so many different species, any photo could be a wallpaper (⚠️Please note that flash photography is prohibited when viewing marine life, to protect them). I even took a short video of the jellyfish swimming back and forth, which was incredibly cute.

The Polar Pavilion had a great show. The polar bear was quite entertaining. Seeing my grandma holding my stuffed animal, he thought it was food and lunged for it with his enormous mouthful, startling my grandma and me. Then, when a nearby kid's balloon 🎈 was floating outside the glass, he kept trying to bite it. I was really worried about whether it would hurt, silly kid. The penguins were hilarious too. Some stood so still that I almost thought they were fake. Two of them were particularly amusing (hereafter referred to as A and B). Little penguin A was eating its own food but was eager to try the food next to B (typically, eating from a bowl and looking at the pot). B kept glaring at A. Then, after B left, A scurried over to eat. B turned around and noticed, and A, despite B's intimidating gaze, pretended to be nonchalant and returned to his own bowl. B also hurried back to his own, while A kept peeking at B to see if he'd leave, which really made us tourists laugh. The bathroom sink at the Polar Pavilion exit was super stylish 🕶️. The souvenirs are expensive but the quality is good👍. Because they look so much like real penguins and aren't too creepy, I decided to buy this combo set (bear hug penguin). It looks so cute with my doll.

At 3:00 AM, I took the cable car 🚡 to the Bird's Singing Forest. I happened to catch a spectacular performance of hundreds of birds flying together (especially the peacocks, which was incredibly impressive). The cable car ticket was definitely worth it. However, the long and winding stairs at the Bird's Singing Forest cable car were exhausting for my grandmother. ❗️ I strongly recommend adding an elevator for those traveling with children and the elderly. At the Bird's Singing Forest, visitors can feed the birds (they sell food). I encountered people feeding different birds, and it was fascinating to watch them eat. I was particularly impressed by the ostriches eating; it was like a woodpecker slicing through a tree, chirping.

When you go to Laohutan, you must see the sea. You can walk to the Tiger Cave to see the sea and feel the sea breeze, or you can go down the mountain to the pile of rocks to see the sea and smell the sea.

Because we were traveling with our elderly family, we skipped the Marine Zoo and some of the experience centers, but I still think the money and time were well worth it. ❗️ Be sure to dress warmly at the beach, and don't take off too much in the Polar and Coral Reef Centers, even if it's hot. I was a bit underdressed, and ended up having a severe stomach upset after visiting both centers. 😂 ❗️ Travelers with elderly and children should be prepared and patient enough to navigate the stairs on the cable car.

Finally, I remind you again to turn off your flash 📸️❌, protect marine life, and don't bang on the glass or interact with them. Please enjoy the scenery quietly. Civilized tourists will benefit from it (like me 😄)

The park is generally OK! The only thing is that the bird show should have a separate performance venue, so that tourists don't have to find a place to watch it by themselves.

I've looked for a lot of comparisons between Sun Asia and Tiger Beach, but they're all ambiguous. I've been to both and can give you a clear opinion: if you can only go to one, choose Tiger Beach! It's easy to make a comparison, but Sun Asia's glass underwater world passage is still good.

It's a 5A scenic spot. The ticket is not a pass, and you have to pay to enter. The facilities are a bit old, but there are still many marine animals. If you come to Dalian, I still recommend going to see it.

By Yaoyi Yaoyaliu |

I was so tired that I couldn't even get up. There were all kinds of rare animals in the ocean park, and the performances were very novel and diverse. Each hall was open separately. Although it was not convenient to swipe the card to enter, it was very convenient to browse separately. I visited all four halls, but did not go to the marine zoo. I looked at the guide and it didn't seem to be much. I didn't walk much with my whole family.

Tickets for the cable car and boat tour are 220 yuan at the door, but you only need the main entrance ticket. I arrived at the Circle Park at 10:10. The room on the right has a navigation map and show schedule. Haha, the Polar Pavilion show was at 10:20, so I rushed. You need tickets to enter all five pavilions. No wonder people say you shouldn't trust ticket scalpers. Even if you get through the main gate, what can't you see in each pavilion? The Polar Pavilion show was average, not as good as Chimelong Aquarium or Macau Ocean Park. But the 360-degree fish show at the Polar Pavilion, especially the trained dolphin show, was amazing. Haha, today, October 8th, was very quiet, and it was a great experience. The polar bears and little penguins were just behind glass. 😊 The Marine Zoo, with sea lions and seals, was pretty good. The Happy Theater was also okay. I missed the Bird Theater because I wanted to see the Coral Pavilion. But the Coral Pavilion is quite large, not crowded, and it was a great experience. The Birdsong Forest is worth a visit, as most of the birds are outside. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience because it was so quiet. I didn't leave until 5:00. Remember to bring food in, they won't check it. Unlike Guangzhou Chimelong where they don't allow food.

Tiger Beach Ocean Park is more fun than the Sun Asia Ocean Park. You can see many polar animals, as well as dolphin and walrus performances. The environment is very good and it is also a good place to visit the park.

By Mr. Fei is an atypical boss |

I'd been to the Harbin Polar Museum before, but it was too far, so this time I took my kids to Dalian, which is closer. The experience was completely unexpected and terrible. The so-called polar show lasted 25 minutes, and the dolphin and beluga whale shows were less than 5 minutes combined. The rest was just dancing, and the kids didn't enjoy it at all. The Bird's Singing Forest is outside the four museums, and there's not even a sign indicating the exit. Haha, I won't be going back. They say cheap things don't come cheap, and that really rings true.

By liuzhen8980812 |

Tiger Beach entrance fee is 220 yuan, but it's cheaper to go through a travel agency. It's a must-see for anyone visiting Dalian. The scenic area is one-way, following the river, with the river on one side and various museums on the other. The exhibits focus on marine animals, making it a great place for children to play.

By The wind blows and the clouds clear |

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. The facilities are comprehensive, with food and beverage options every 500 meters. Just bring your own cash and you're good to go. It's huge, perfect for a day of leisurely exploration. The various aquariums have their own unique charm, and the jellyfish in the coral aquarium are incredibly beautiful.

By Huahua🌹 |

Overall it's just average, not as good as expected, the ticket and meal are too deceptive, tourists should never trust the ticket and meal at the door, it's better to spend more money than to be cheated.

By Curly Cat |

We played on the beach at the door for half a day. If we came early, we could feed the seagulls, but the sea water was very dirty and there was some garbage floating on it.

The entire itinerary is based on the performance schedule, interspersed with visits to the five museums.

Except for the Polar Pavilion, the children were not very interested, and the Coral Pavilion was boring...

Before I went there, I was tricked into buying a combined ticket for the new museum, which cost 100 yuan per person. It was actually a 4D movie and a dome movie. The former was ugly, the story logic was not smooth, and it was not suitable for very young children; I didn’t go to the latter at all. I felt that the new museum was a rip-off and it was best not to go.

Because I personally oppose animal performances, I told my children that this is actually quite cruel. The performances here are not very long, and there are other performances or activities in between.

By Z. |

I went there as a kid, and a few days ago I went again with a classmate. It's more suitable for families and couples, as my classmate and I both felt a bit old... You can buy a package ticket for all five venues: the Polar Hall, Coral Hall, Happy Theater, Birdsong Forest, and Marine Animal Hall. The Polar Hall, Happy Theater, and Birdsong Forest have performances, so don't miss them. You need to buy tickets for the cable car and boat tour separately. You should definitely set aside a day to have a good time here.

Tiger Beach Ocean Park has better hardware and supporting facilities than Sun Asia Ocean World, and there are not too many tourists. The marine life is similar across the country. The experience is 80 points. [Hey ha] The dolphin show and the sea lion and seal show are 90 points. [Strong][Strong] The space experience is 95 points. It's very exciting. My little one is braver than me. 😂😂

By Nessie66 |

Maybe I've been to the Shanghai Oceanarium, but this one doesn't feel as refined. The water isn't very clear, and the venue isn't well maintained. However, the shows are still quite exciting, and the baby dolphins and sea lions are very cute. It's suitable for taking children. The pictures are beautified.

By The mood of a wanderer |

We rushed to the 10:20 show, and it turned out we were right. Those who arrived later had no seats left. Perhaps we'd seen too many shows before, so we didn't quite capture the awe of our first Tiger Beach show all those years ago. We then finished watching the polar animals and the show at the small pavilion. The penguins were so dazed that we had to watch them for a while to confirm their realness. They remained motionless, unperturbed, and didn't seem tired. Seeing the legends of Tiger Beach, while seagulls still flitted by the seashore, no longer captivated us. We hurried to catch the 12:40 Sea Beast Show at the Happy Theater. We arrived twenty minutes early, but the line was already long. The place only holds 2,000 people, and if you exceed that, you'll have to wait for the next show, which of course has a long schedule. We'd rather bask in the sun and the heat than go to the open-air show... We forgot about the Birdsong Pavilion and the show. Tiger Beach is huge, and each pavilion is enormous. The Polar Pavilion can hold 8,000 people, and between them is a beautiful park with a Jurassic theme. When we arrived at the Coral Pavilion, I was immediately struck by the corals! We left the park five hours later, and there was another show at the exit.

This cannot be saved, bad review.

The entrance fee was 180 yuan plus 135 yuan. Online, it was 198 yuan for adults and 140 yuan for students. We were in the parking lot, outside the fifth pavilion, the Bird's Singing Forest, when someone tried to get us tickets. I looked up the price online and casually mentioned it, and they surprisingly agreed, so we went. Since a special car would be arranged to take us from there to the first pavilion, the entrance, I was a bit nervous about getting on the car, so I hesitated for a while. They called to inquire about something, and finally agreed to let us pick up the tickets at the square and pay later. I thought I'd saved money, but the real problem was getting scammed into buying a cable car ticket. They told me the only way from the first pavilions to the Bird's Singing Forest was by cable car or speedboat. I pointed at the bridge and said, "Isn't that crossable?" They said no. I don't remember if they said it was a long walk or they wouldn't let us cross, but I was pretty sure we couldn't. The cable car was 45 yuan online, and the touts said I had to pay for insurance if I bought it online. So, I ended up buying two one-way cable car tickets for 100 yuan, so we could leave directly after touring the Bird's Singing Forest with our car.

The cable car is really bad, very low-level, extremely low-level. It's a very short distance, and you can obviously walk next to it. It's a stone bridge, and it only takes ten minutes at most to walk across. So you still can't trust these people.

The most important thing inside is to watch the performance, in my opinion. Once you enter, go to the service hall on the right to get a map and schedule, and then watch the performance according to the schedule.

The Polar Pavilion show is a must-see! It's amazing! When we went there, it had just started, so there were no seats. We were at the entrance, but we squeezed in and felt the location was good. Except for the dolphin counting, we could only see the dolphins on the big screen, but we could see them clearly on the screen. But having a seat is still the best.

There are many museums, but they look old. It's still okay to have fun.

By A certain boat |

The facilities are a bit old, but it is still worth a visit; the performance schedule can be found through the official WeChat public account; the performance is worth seeing

By Cold Wind White Lake |

Tiger Beach Ocean Park uses electronic tickets throughout the entire park. You can enter by simply scanning the QR code. I think the more interesting places are the Polar Hall, the Coral Hall, and the Bird's Singing Forest. The Sea Lion Hall is just average. I didn't go to the Happy Theater to watch the show. So, I feel that 198 yuan for a ticket is really expensive!

Aside from the excellent performances in the small theater, everything else was disappointing! Seeing so many marine animals trapped in such a small space was truly uncomfortable. If someone locked you up in a room the size of a double bed, gave you that bed, and had you eat, drink, poop, and urinate in it, day after day, year after year, how would you feel?

By ぎ安生ず℡ |

There is a sea and a small beach in Laohutan. Children love to feed seagulls here, which attracts many seagulls.

The price of seagull food is 10 yuan per serving, which is actually just a few small fish. If you don’t buy them, you can just feed them some ham sausage or something to attract them.

I remember a friend mentioned in his travelogue: The host of the Happy Theater really showed the Northeastern people's jokes to the fullest. Haha, this is absolutely true.

After coming out of the Happy Theater, there is a seal pool further ahead, where fish are also 10 yuan per bucket.

Seagulls are really brave animals. They have been circling over the seal pool, waiting to snatch food from the seals.

There are five pavilions in the park: Polar Pavilion, Happy Theater, Bird Forest, Coral Pavilion, and Marine Animal Pavilion. The Polar Pavilion and Happy Theater have performances that are worth seeing.

I watched the seal show at the Happy Theater at 13:10

14:00 Watch dolphins and beluga whale shows at the Polar Pavilion

Remember that you can only enter all the museums once, so if you want to see a performance, wait until you have time to go in and watch the performance, and then come out to visit the exhibitions inside.

By Jasmine Yuebanxian |

There are two aquariums in Dalian, the other one is Sun Asia Ocean World. I personally prefer Tiger Beach, which has more large animals and is renovated.

There are five pavilions in total, and you can only enter each pavilion once with your ticket. The Bird's Singing Forest is located in a separate park from the other four pavilions, about a 20-minute walk away. If you go last, make sure you've visited all four pavilions beforehand, as you can't re-enter once you've exited. After visiting the Bird's Singing Forest, you don't have to go back to the main entrance; you can go directly to the next stop on your journey.

The highlights are mostly in the Polar Pavilion. Beluga whales are visible right at the entrance. Other animals like dolphins and seals can be seen. The central display area is great. There are species such as wobbegong sharks that are rare in oceanariums. It's a pity that there is no tunnel.

The coral aquarium and bird forest are also worth spending more time in. The jellyfish area is colorful and numerous.

The marine zoo is small and boring. You can just take a look and leave.

In addition to the basic ticket, there are also optional activities such as cross-sea cable car and boat tour. The cable car connects the two parks, which saves walking and overlooks the sea. If you want to play, it is recommended to buy a one-way ticket without going back.

Tiger Beach was not too crowded during the May Day holiday. The park also invited some cosplayers.

By Qi Xiaomi- |

The Oceanarium wasn't as good as expected, and the performance at the Happy Theater was just average. But the Polar Pavilion show is a must-see! The beluga whale and its trainer were both incredibly handsome! I recommend checking the show times for the Polar Pavilion and Happy Theater before visiting, and then visiting other pavilions to set aside time for the show. You can touch dolphins at the Polar Pavilion for 100 yuan each time. I was rewarded for the game session, hahahaha, don't be too envious.

By So busy, I really want to travel |

Many people are confused about which of the two ocean parks in Dalian is more suitable. Personally, I would recommend Laohutan Ocean Park (from the experience of someone who has worked in an ocean park).

Tiger Beach Ocean Park is larger and closer to the sea than the other one. (I don't recommend going there during holidays because it's too crowded and you can't get in. You might also buy fake scalper tickets.)

By There is money in the pocket |

This is a really great place to bring children; even my two-year-old had a blast. The show times for the Polar Pavilion and Happy Theater are different from what's advertised on their brochures, but it wasn't crowded when we went, and the staff were always available to remind us. We saw the Polar Pavilion show at 3:00 PM, and the line started at 2:30 PM. Those who got in early in the queue got seats in the middle, front row, for a better view, but since there's a big screen, you can see it from any side. The dolphin show was really good. The plush toys I bought at the store on the left at the Polar Pavilion exit didn't have the Polar Pavilion label, so I suspect they were selling something underhanded. The polar bear I bought inside the Polar Pavilion did have the official label. A bubbler at the exit was 20 yuan, the same kind you'd find outside for 5 yuan. My child was still young, so we stopped and walked around a lot, so we only visited the Coral Pavilion and Polar Pavilion. There's a small beach further inside the Polar Pavilion with very fine sand, so if you want your child to play in the sand, you might want to bring your own coin maker and a small bucket.

Tiger Beach Ocean Park is a great place to bring your family and children, enjoy the shows, and more. I love marine life, so I had a blast. It's even more interesting than the aquarium, where you can see sea lions, seals, turtles, sharks, and even some tropical fish. The park also features a coral reef and a polar marine animal museum. The Polar Museum displays artifacts from Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, scientific photographs, national flags and team pennants signed by Chinese Antarctic expedition members, clothing used by the expedition members, sleds, and other items. There are also specimens of polar animals like huskies and Arctic wolves. The museum also uses various high-tech tools to educate the public about polar science.

The fourth section is the mysterious underwater world. In the world's largest shark display tank, you'll see dozens of species, over 300 sharks, and thousands of fish. The 360-degree underwater passage and underwater viewing hall are breathtaking! The largest glass panel on the east side of the underwater world is 8 meters high, 6 meters wide, and 45 centimeters thick, a truly unique sight. In the marine life viewing area, you'll see a variety of rare marine life, including stilt crabs, leafy sea dragons, jellyfish, seahorses, nautiluses, rays, groupers, and various sturgeons. China's largest coral reef exhibition hall, with a total investment of 30 million RMB, occupies 3,700 square meters and is 220 meters long. It showcases over 200 species of coral reef life and more than 5,000 individual coral reef specimens.

The Coral Museum can be divided into six major areas: coral and coral fish boutique area, underwater kaleidoscope, underwater laboratory, shipwreck treasure hunt, science corridor, and diving show. Among them, coral and coral fish boutique area, underwater laboratory and diving show are the three main display areas.

The coral and coral fish area showcases over 2,000 corals of various shapes and colors, spanning over 100 species from the southwest Pacific. These corals are home to tens of thousands of tropical fish, creating a unique underwater landscape. To ensure the survival of the corals, the direct daily expenses of the coral museum are nearly 20,000 yuan.

The coral and coral fish display area features innovative display techniques, such as spherical, persimmon-shaped, and ladder-shaped transparent tanks, which are not only ingeniously shaped but also function as magnifying glasses. There's also a more than ten-meter-long "undersea tunnel," the first in China to showcase corals and coral reef fish at a 90-degree angle, holding over 200 tons of water.

The second exhibition area is the underwater laboratory area. This area uses high-tech means to assist you in discovering the anatomy and ecological habits of living sharks, as well as the entire process of development from embryos to juveniles.

For the "Flow Fish" project, we have created an original spaceship shape. By pulling the joystick and rotating the handle, we create a water vortex, allowing visitors to experience the countercurrent nature of the fish swimming firsthand.

The "Deep Sea Periscope" project simulates the structure of the periscope in a submarine and observes the ecological habits of living corals through a display screen.

Tiger Beach Park - Visit the Polar Hall and the Coral Hall, both of which are indoor attractions, so it doesn’t matter if it rains.

There's a legend about Laohutan, which I'd like to share with you: Once upon a time, this area was desolate, with tigers roaming the mountains. Some say the cave near the sea is called Laohu Cave, and every night at high tide, the waves crash, echoing with a tiger's roar. Others say a ferocious tiger often descends from this mountain to attack people and animals. One day, the Dragon King's daughter was gathering flowers on the hillside when she was carried away by the vicious tiger. A young man named Shicao, hearing her cries for help, chased after her with his sword, forcing the tiger to abandon her and flee. To repay Shicao for saving her life, the Dragon Girl married him. Shicao, convinced that the people would never have peace until the vicious tiger was eliminated, decided to go up the mountain and eliminate the tiger on their first day. The Dragon Girl explained that the tiger was a Black Tiger Star from heaven, sent down to Earth, and that only the sword from the Dragon Palace could slay it. The Dragon Girl returned to the palace to borrow the sword. Unexpectedly, on the day the Dragon Girl left, the vicious tiger returned to the mountains to attack. Unable to wait for his sword, Shi Cao engaged the tiger in a fierce struggle. He slashed off the tiger's fangs, which fell into the sea and became Tiger Tooth Reef. He then grabbed the tiger's tail and swung it over to Lushun Harbor, creating Tiger Tail. Finally, he chopped off half of the tiger's head, creating Half Mountain. The tiger's body collapsed on the seashore, creating Tiger Beach. Shi Cao died from his injuries and became a reef. The Dragon Girl returned with the sword, only to find her husband dead. Overwhelmed with grief, she lay beside him, transforming into Beauty Reef.

Located in the middle of the southern coast of Dalian, Liaoning Province, Laohutan Ocean Park is China's largest modern seaside amusement park. It boasts several pavilions, including the Oceanarium, Coral Hall, Marine Animal Hall, and Birdsong Forest. It was designated a 5A scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration for the first time. It's well worth a visit.

By that power |

Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park is located in the middle of Dalian's southern coast, a national scenic area. The park is truly vast, with themed areas like the Coral Hall, Birdsong Forest, Polar Hall, 4D Cinema, Jurassic World, Marine Animal Hall, and Pirate Village. It would probably take a whole day to explore them all. With a wide variety of marine animals and a wide variety of entertainment, it's a great place to relax and enrich your children's knowledge. During peak season, be sure to arrive early to visit Laohutan; later in the day, the area can be packed!

By Lazy Cat |

This is the largest ocean park in Dalian, much larger than the Grand Canal. You can have a good time here in one day. Be sure to get a map in advance, which shows the performance times of various animals, all of which are very exciting.

By Huiyun |

Laohutan Ocean Park is a 5A-rated tourist attraction in Dalian. You can spend a whole day there, but the food there is expensive and unpalatable. I spent 30 yuan on a bowl of Korean cold noodles, which was simply inedible. So, be sure to bring some dry food when you enter the park.

The park entrance fee is 220 yuan. If you're traveling with children, just bring their ID card for half-price admission. For older children, you can purchase a youth ticket, which is also quite a discount!

By Sam |

There are fewer people going there in winter. The dolphin show is OK, and the animals are OK too. There are quite a lot of varieties.

By Training |

I came here once many years ago, and now I have a baby and I am here again. I am a little disappointed, especially I want to complain about the marine animal museum. With all due respect, this museum is too perfunctory. When you enter, you will see all kinds of shouting to sell things. The so-called marine animals are seals and sea lions, and then they are called masterpieces.

The design of the exterior is that you can view them from different angles, namely from the ground, underwater, and upstairs. 😓 The water is still so dirty. The service of the staff in the park is also very poor. In fact, you can just go to the Polar Hall and the Coral Hall. If you don't take the cable car, you can only go out of the park to the Bird's Singing Forest and can't return. There is no bus from that gate, and Didi is not easy to call a taxi. Taxi drivers don't use meters and charge exorbitant prices. If you take the bus with children, you have to walk about two kilometers. Although the Beijing Oceanarium is smaller than this one and is also an old museum, there are no animals like polar bears and penguins, but the water is clean. So unless you are traveling with children, I really don't recommend going. Compared with other cities, it may not be anything special. But this is just an adult's evaluation. The most important thing is that if the children like it, then it's worth it! 😂

If you're traveling with children, Laohutan Ocean Park is a must-see in Dalian. If you're just adults, it's optional. The park has three pavilions: the Coral Pavilion, the Polar Pavilion, and the Marine Zoo. There's also a Happy Theater and the Birdsong Forest. The Birdsong Forest is located outside the aquarium and is included in the admission price. You can exit the main entrance, turn left, and walk along Binhai Middle Road. Alternatively, after visiting the Marine Zoo, take the bridge across the street. The recommended order of visit: Coral Pavilion - Polar Pavilion - Happy Theater - Marine Zoo - Birdsong Forest.

These seals are really scared and jump very high for food. Be careful and don't eat your hands.

By Fay |

Of the five museums, I like the coral reef museum the most because it has more to offer. The other museums are just average. The marine mammal museum only has a few species, and the bird's singing forest is a must-go for cable cars, otherwise you'd just walk out... Overall, the place feels small. After all, it's an early Ocean World, and it's too commercialized, with things everywhere for sale. It's not worth the price of admission. Some children's entertainment activities require additional fees. In comparison, I prefer Zhuhai Chimelong.

By Far North |

The price is really not worth the entrance fee. There's not much to see except for the people. I have to complain about the Polar Pavilion show. There was a 10-minute animation, a 10-minute diving session with a few foreigners, a 5-minute music storytelling session, and the remaining 10 minutes were nothing spectacular. Booking tickets online can be much cheaper, but be careful not to book other optional activities. The underwater tunnel and cruise are all scams!

Although the coral museum is small, it is a must-see because it may be the most worthwhile place to visit!

I don’t know how the Laohutan scenic spot was rated as a 5A scenic spot, it’s barely 4A!

A very good ocean park, especially suitable for families.

198 yuan is a normal amount of effort for one museum, the other museums are all just for show, and rented out to others to make money. The most unacceptable thing is the performance of the polar museum, the most important of this oceanarium. A lot of effort was put into using people to perform to kill time. There was almost no performance for dolphins, and the white whale came out and turned around a few times and then went back. This performance is not as good as the oceanarium in a small southern city. Don't go in here. It looks like a big map, but it's actually very small. 198 is full of pitfalls. There is also a 120 speedboat inside. I stopped at a book and started to use moral kidnapping to ask you to add 50 and go around again. It's a pit.

In my travelogue for Qingdao, I mentioned that coastal children have a natural affinity for the sea, and the same goes for aquariums. Wherever I go, I always want to visit an aquarium, and this aquarium is definitely top of my list, as I went there with my mini WU.

When choosing which ocean park to visit, Tiger Beach received far more reviews than Sun Asia. So, I paid significantly more for admission—Tiger Beach requires a combined entrance fee—and was ultimately disappointing. Aside from the Polar Ocean Park, which boasted a rich variety of marine life, the other parks were merely sideshows. For example, the Marine Zoo, with its seals, was the only attraction. Furthermore, the decor throughout the ocean park resembled a childish, crude cartoon. Here are a few pictures to get a feel for the style. Before entering, my Yidao driver advised against going, saying Tiger Beach had been delisted (a 5A scenic spot) due to its poor condition. Looking back, that advice was spot-on, but unfortunately, I hesitated and went in anyway.

The group-purchased tickets on Meituan are very convenient. You can enter directly by swiping your ID card without taking a photo. The queue order is: Coral Hall, Polar Hall, Happy Theater, Marine Animal Hall, Bird's Singing Forest

The cable car ride up and down the Bird's Singing Forest was tiring and hot. We only saw the Polar Pavilion and the Happy Theater. The Happy Theater is outdoors, so we had to find a seat early to avoid the sun. We didn't see the performance at the Bird's Singing Forest. We bought two bags of bird food and took the kids to feed the birds while everyone else was watching the performance. It was cool and fun.

By Behind the prosperity |

The performances inside are very exciting. Each pavilion is also very good and very beautiful. I like it very much. Both the children and the elderly are very excited.

With a ten-hour layover in Dalian, I decided to visit Ocean Park. I was surprised to find myself in a shady taxi at the airport, which took me to a shady tour guide. After we paid, they told us it was a group ticket and we needed to coordinate our destinations in advance once we had five people. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to explore the park on our own. When they realized we had limited time, they strongly recommended a "luxury" cruise to Laohutan. Not only did we end up getting ripped off, but we also wasted our time on a completely worthless ocean excursion. Visitors to this area should never trust the taxi drivers' sweet talk. Plan your trip well in advance and don't change it to avoid being scammed.

By Rainy day funnel |

I didn't go in because the tickets were too expensive. The basic ticket price was 220 yuan, and there were many other fees involved. The most expensive package would have cost 570 yuan.

I went to the Xi'an Qujiang Oceanarium before. The night ticket price was 60 yuan, but it was only 30 yuan during the event. The indoor tour was exactly the same as the daytime tour.

4 hours of walking and looking around

I quickly followed the crowd after entering the aquarium and went in to watch the dolphin show. This is the best part of the aquarium. I really don't want to complain about the others.

It is quite big, but the planning is unreasonable. After watching the show, you have to go back to the entrance to see the coral museum after the sea lion show. After the show, go back to the performance hall and walk forward to see the sea animals, otherwise you will miss the coral museum.

Tiger Beach Ocean Park has animal shows, a viewing area like an underwater tunnel, and many outdoor activities, such as boat tours, animal feeding, etc.
