Many people may not have heard of Emerald Lake. Although it is not as famous as Chaka Salt Lake, the scenery here is in no way inferior to Chaka.

Located at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters, the plateau salt lake is embedded in the snow-capped plateau of Dachaidan, which is breathtaking. Unlike Chaka, where there are crowds of people, there is tranquility and comfort, openness and desolation. Sitting casually, you will feel the artistic conception. It has not been contracted by merchants yet! But it will happen sooner or later! It is currently free to enter!

Compared to the crowded Chaka Salt Lake, this place is as quiet as an alley late at night, with only the sound of the wind passing over the hills, pure white and blue clouds, and emerald-like ripples. Every gust of wind and every piece of cool lake water makes people feel as if they are wandering in a dream. This is probably the most unforgettable and purest scenery I have seen in the past 22 years.

This was the first time I was so close to the sun and saw such beautiful scenery. I was moved by the magic of nature. Suddenly, I felt that any words seemed pale and powerless in the face of such beautiful scenery.

Watching the sunset go down bit by bit, I feel full of joy. In people's eyes, sunrise represents prosperity, while sunset represents decline. But in my eyes, sunset is less bright and more gentle.

Compared to Chaka Salt Lake, Emerald Lake may not be as well-known, but precisely because it was developed late and few people go there, it has retained its most natural and beautiful appearance.

The scenery of Emerald Lake is really beautiful~

Only when you are there can you feel the breathtaking beauty. The color of the lake changes in thousands of ways depending on the angle and the light. Only when you are in such a paradise on earth can you realize how bad your photography skills are (a three-second silence for my straight male photography skills that have been despised countless times by Zhazha).

Salt ponds of various shapes and rich colors are scattered all over the Chaidan Lake, just like large and small pearls falling on a jade plate. People call this place the Emerald Lake, which has become very popular on the Internet in the past two years, and it seems to be worthy of the name.

This is actually a salt mine site of an enterprise. Because the lake is rich in boron, lithium, salt, potash fertilizer, and Glauber's salt, the lake water appears emerald green, sapphire blue, and amber yellow, just like God's jewel house, colorful.

This place is not as crowded as Chaka. To take a photo, you have to find countless angles to avoid the crowds. Just sit casually and you will feel the mood. Such a good attraction is still free.

Every trip is a new understanding of myself. During the trip, I learned to be strong, to go with the flow, to have empathy, to look at things from other people's perspectives, and to try to understand things that I don't agree with. Before departure, I occasionally browsed the Internet to look up guides. I saw photos of Emerald Lake and wanted to go there. Emerald Lake is an undeveloped scenic spot and a salt lake, but it is different from the white Sky Mirror in Chaka. As the name suggests, Emerald Lake is emerald green. It was already evening when we arrived. The wind was strong and the lake was full of ripples, but it still couldn't blow away the clouds in the sky.. I saw two salt lakes that day and missed the Sky Mirror. There will be some small probability events on every journey. But the absence of the Sky Mirror does not affect its beauty at all. The emerald green makes people feel comfortable and peaceful. The photos taken here all have a sense of isolation from the world. In fact, I don't know if it is a reed. Even if it is not, it should be a reed. The sunset time in the northwest is relatively late. After strolling around Emerald Lake for more than an hour, it was not late when I came out. The sun was shining on the reeds, and the autumn atmosphere was very strong. I took a lot of very satisfactory photos in the reed marsh, and it was still bright when I left. On the way, I saw sheep in the grass, the leader and the flock, the yellow grass and the blue water, the setting sun and the moon, the natural harmony, I never thought I could see such a beautiful scenery. I remember someone once told me that children in the south should travel to places with distinct four seasons. It makes sense, otherwise they will never understand what it feels like to see the autumn wind sweeping the fallen leaves in the elementary school text. In Guangzhou, the leaves are swept by the spring wind.

Who would have thought that there is a city in the sky hidden deep in Qinghai?

This is an open attraction without a gate. It is more like a masterpiece of nature. Therefore, the real scenery is always on the road and is definitely not "enclosed".

Another great thing the children gained from visiting Emerald Lake was that they filled their shoes with salt water. When they washed their shoes at home, they shone with white silver light, just like pickled bacon...

Before coming here, I read a push that Emerald Lake is still a "secret place", but as soon as the car left the city, I found that the people queuing on the road were all going here. There were so many cars that I couldn't drive into the parking lot inside, so I had to park on the side of the road.

Although there were a lot of cars and people, the salt lake is large and it didn't feel crowded once the crowd dispersed.

The mountains on the other side are closer to the salt lake, so they are more beautiful than Chaka as a background. I heard that Chaka's red clothes are famous this year? There are also red skirts for rent. In fact, it is the same here. 6 or 7 out of 10 beauties are wearing red skirts.

There are black soil mounds at equal distances in the white salt pond, which is not as flat as Chaka. But there are few people here and it is free!

The Emerald Lake in Da Qaidam surprised us greatly. We discovered another niche sky mirror in Qinghai. It is so beautiful that it is beyond words! Since the Emerald Lake in Da Qaidam is still undeveloped and there are no obvious signposts, it is difficult for many tourists from all over the world to find it. Even most locals don’t know much about it. Therefore, this is definitely a top choice for taking photos and checking in. You can spin and jump on the salt lake!

The lake is like a mirror, and the mirror is the lake. The water reflects the sky, and the sky is connected to the earth. People walking in the lake feel like they are swimming in a painting.

After a trip to the salt lake, there was basically a layer of salt crystals on my clothes and pants. I shook them off for a long time when I got back to the hotel, but they still didn't work. I stuffed them into my suitcase and washed them after the trip. The accommodation in Dachaidan was also very ordinary, and the food was even more ordinary, so the importance of preparing dry food was highlighted.

The road from the northwest end of the town to Emerald Lake is in very bad condition, with large potholes everywhere caused by large trucks. There is almost no flat land, and the road is extremely bumpy with one pothole after another, and dust is flying behind the car. Cars can go, but you must be careful when driving, as the road may hit the bottom if you are not careful.

There is a large parking lot here, and there is another large parking lot further in. Walking along the salt-paved road, there are salt lakes on both sides of the road. The water on the right is larger, but the water is very shallow. There are more people in the lake, but compared with the Chaka Salt Lake, it is not even a fraction of the salt lake; there is almost no water in the salt lake on the left, and the white salt covers the bottom of the lake. There are a few people playing in it. This is different from the Emerald Lake I know, and I am a little disappointed.

It is not as majestic as the Chaka Salt Lake, but it has its own unique freshness and elegance. If the Chaka Salt Lake is regarded as a big pearl in Qinghai, then the Dachaidan Emerald Lake is a sapphire here. They are both rare treasures, but each has its own characteristics.

The grass by the lake is yellow, forming a bright dividing line, which clearly separates the Qaidam Mountain from its reflection in the lake. The symmetry is very beautiful. It is best to wear brightly colored clothes when taking photos in the salt lake, and the photos will look better.

After playing in the lake for a long time, we heard someone asking where the Emerald Lake was. Another person next to him pointed to the front left and said that we would reach it by walking that way. Then we realized that we had been visiting a "fake Emerald Lake" for half a day.

It was so exciting to see the clear green water. You can't tell that the green color of the water is affected by the light. There were obviously more people taking pictures by the lake. This lake is not very big. It is just one of the many salt pits in Emerald Lake. If you have time, you can visit more pits. The colors are different, including light green, light blue, dark green, dark blue, and rust red. I guess you won't want to leave.

There are two small lakes in the salt pit. The water is like a mirror with only a few ripples. There is a narrow salt road in the middle, which is a good place to take pictures of reflections.

The lake shore extends three or four meters into the water, forming a small "peninsula" surrounded by water on three sides. The dark clouds in the sky are reflected in the water, and the color turns into dark green, very deep and quiet. This is also a good place to take pictures. Many people are queuing up to take pictures. They are wearing all kinds of clothes, all kinds of postures and all kinds of expressions, very happy and joyful.

At half past eight, the sun had hidden behind the mountain. The brilliant golden rays of light shone on the clouds in the sky. The clouds looked like they were burning, fiery red, filling the entire sky. They were then reflected in the lake, and the entire Emerald Lake seemed to be burning.

In Dachaidan, a 5-hour drive from Chaka Salt Lake, there is also a dreamy salt lake, which people usually call Emerald Lake. Compared with Chaka, this place is more niche.



Emerald Lake is a salt lake where salt deposits and salt lake brine coexist. It is not a complete lake, but is composed of many lakes of different sizes. Its color is related to the mineral concentration in the lake and the weather conditions. The color of Emerald Lake will be different in different time periods.

Emerald Lake is still a wild tourist attraction, but judging from the fact that the scenic area has already started construction, it is estimated that it will start charging a fee next year.

The Emerald Lake is a group of lakes. Most of the small salt lakes have colors so intense that they seem to overflow with saturation. You can see the colors and stratification even if you stand on the edge. These small salt lakes are miraculously beautiful when viewed from a drone perspective. They are absolutely emerald in color, with a few pieces of Tiffany blue and Burmese jade with impurities in the middle. They are dazzlingly brilliant. The only drawback is that they are scattered randomly, and it is difficult to get close to the small lakes to appreciate them.

Next to the salt lake group, there is a slightly larger salt lake. It is grayish white and looks ordinary at first glance, but the water layer is very shallow, about ankle-deep. On the day we went there, from sunrise to afternoon, the entire water surface was not rippled by the wind. It is an absolute reflection sanctuary.

Emerald Lake should be more beautiful at sunset, because the reflected salt lake is on the west side of the road, and there are few people in the scenic area. There are relatively more tourists at sunrise and sunset. In addition, the temperature in Dachaidan is generally much higher than that in Qinghai Lake area, and the wind is small, so it is not cold to take pictures in the water.

Emerald Lake, as the name suggests, has a water color ranging from emerald green to light blue, as transparent and beautiful as emerald. Although the name is ordinary, it is very descriptive. The "big name" Ike Qaidam Lake, also known as Dachaidan Lake, is a plateau salt lake. Because the lake water contains different minerals, it produces different colors, which change with the intensity of sunlight. Although few people know about it, it is beautiful and heart-stirring.

If the Internet celebrity holy land Chaka Salt Lake is a lady from a noble family, then the fairyland Emerald Lake is a beautiful jade from a small family. Some people have described it as a gem scattered in the Qaidam Basin. Under the guidance of Master Ma, we successfully reached the depths of Emerald Lake half an hour before sunset and caught the most beautiful sunset. The afterglow shone on the mountains, showing a light rose gold color.

Emerald Lake gets its name from its color, which looks like emerald green under the sun. It is a treasure land hidden deep in Daxiadan and has not yet been fully developed into a tourist area. We are very fortunate about this. The lake area is not big, but it is like a paradise on earth.

The Emerald Lake is actually also a salt lake. Its salt content is not as high as that of the Chaka Salt Lake area, but it is rich in minerals such as boron and lithium, so the color of the lake water is dreamy with different shades of light and dark.

The trip to Emerald Lake was like a fairy tale. The driver took us on a shortcut. After the car passed through the abandoned factory, another world appeared in front of us. It is much smaller than Chaka, and there is no one to watch over it. It is a bit dangerous to go into the lake, but who would not want to take a risk for such a beautiful view? It was a sunny day, and the reflections on the lake were beautiful.

This place has not been developed yet, it is all pristine salt lakes, the colors are much more beautiful than Chaka, green and blue, large and small, covering a large area. I heard that some people swim in the salt lakes during the peak season, which affects tourists' photo taking and is attacked by everyone. I selected three beautiful salt lakes to take photos, holding electronic devices carefully, and be sure not to drop them on the salt. I bravely took off my coat and tried my best to pose in the cold wind.

We arrived at the depths of Emerald Lake half an hour before sunset, catching up with the best time and feeling the mirror-like beauty of the salt lake.

Dachaidan Emerald Lake is a niche attraction. I didn't plan to come here. I thought about driving directly from Delingha to Dunhuang. Later, I checked the map and found that it was on the way and not far away, so I came to take a look since I was here. The weather today was not very good. On the way, I said that if it rained, I would not come. I drove while watching the sky. When I arrived nearby, the clouds were very thick. We happened to be in the gap between two clouds when the sun came out, and we took pictures of the beautiful Emerald Lake.

Dachaidan Emerald Lake, with an altitude of about 3,148 meters, has a magical name and a magical color. If God had shed countless tears, this tear must be the rare and stunning Emerald Lake. The lake surface is blue and green. The lake water contains a variety of mineral elements, so different lake surfaces show different colors. But no matter blue or green, the water of Emerald Lake is clear and transparent. Through the colorful water, you can also see the salt layer at the bottom of the lake.

Take the train, from near to far there are five stations: 65432. The train does not stop on the way and arrives directly at the terminal station No. 2. No. 2: The bottom station of the train! There is the largest lake in it, Tiffany Blue. It is really beautiful. You can just enjoy the scenery. Taking pictures is not recommended because there are so many people! The Da Qaidam Emerald Lake is located in Da Qaidam Town, Da Qaidam Administrative District, Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. I like both Emerald Lakes very much. They have different styles and I recommend visiting both.

As mentioned above, Daxiadan Emerald Lake is very quiet near Daxiadan, so it is a must-do for tour groups, so it is recommended to come early. In addition, drones must be relied on here, so the position of the sun must also be considered, and it is not recommended to come at noon.

The scenic area's shuttle bus will first pull to the innermost point, and then go outwards in sequence. From the inside to the outside, the second parking spot (excluding the innermost point) is the best aerial photography spot.

Since Da Qaidam is relatively far away, friends who don’t take the Grand Loop Road probably won’t get here. However, the scenery of Da Qaidam Emerald Lake is indeed beautiful and suitable for taking photos and checking in. Because the place is far away, there are relatively few people. If you choose a windy day, you can take beautiful and elegant photos.

Emerald Lake is somewhat similar to Chaka Salt Lake. They are both located in the Qaidam Basin. There are also mines formed by years of salt mining. There are also lakes of different sizes and shapes. The difference is that Emerald Lake is a magnesium sulfate subtype salt lake with a high boron content, so the salt here is not edible, but Chaka can. Due to the large evaporation and small rainfall, the lake water is constantly concentrated, and the lake rich in metal ions has appeared in various colors, including yellow, blue, and the most beautiful is emerald. Moreover, the color of the lake water seems to be different from all angles. It is closer from the tourist center to the hinterland of the scenic area than Chaka, so most people choose to walk, but there are also cars that look like small trains, which are connected by several carriages, but there are no rails, just like the small trains in the amusement park.

Emerald Lake is located in the former Dachaidan Chemical Plant Salt Lake Mining Area in Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, more than 20 kilometers west of Dachaidan Town. Because the lake water is clear and blue in the sun, the color is like emerald, so it is named "Emerald Lake".

This place has been developed into a scenic spot, with entrance fees and sightseeing buses. There is no public transportation from the town to here, so you can only take a taxi, share a car or charter a car, which is more suitable for group tours or self-driving.

If you have a drone, you must bring it. The aerial photography is simply stunning. The drone we brought died on the first day before it even got off the ground. If there are places you must visit in Qinghai, it would be Qinghai Lake and Dachaidan Emerald Lake.

I have seen photos of Emerald Lake on the Internet before, and I was really shocked. The blue and green lake water is like a piece of gem inlaid on the earth, exuding rich colors. So I am looking forward to this trip. I must find the bits of emerald scattered on the earth.

It was already 6pm when we arrived here. Fortunately, the dusk here is delayed until 9pm. So, we still have more than two hours of playing time here. There were many people queuing up to buy tickets at the entrance, so we chose to buy tickets online and soon we could enter the scenic spot. Here we still have to buy two tickets, one for the scenic spot and one for the train ticket. The dusk here is very good and the reflection is also beautiful.

Emerald Lake is great! It will be better to take pictures in the morning and evening if you drive here!

Da Qaidam Emerald Lake is a place I visited during the Qinghai-Gansu Grand Loop in 2018, but I didn’t have a drone to take pictures at that time, so all I saw were a few salt pits. But this time I brought a drone with me, and with good weather, it was so beautiful that it was beyond words. I highly recommend bringing a drone with me💯.

With the arrival of winter, the water level of Emerald Lake in Dachaidan begins to drop gradually

Finally arrived at Emerald Lake, catching up with the sunset, it was very beautiful. There were few people walking inside, and the tour groups were basically in the small pools at the entrance. The lake was very beautiful at sunset, and the distant mountains became a little golden.

Emerald Lake is located in the westernmost part of Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, a few kilometers west of Dachaidan Town on Liuge Expressway G3011. It is a magnesium sulfate subtype salt lake.

Dachaidan Lake is a natural salt lake. There are many small blue pools artificially built around the lake, forming the so-called Emerald Lake. We were quite disappointed when we first entered the scenic spot, mainly because there were too many people, almost catching up with the Chaka Salt Lake, and all of them were taking pictures around a small pool. It felt that no matter what angle we took pictures from, we couldn't avoid other people, which was in sharp contrast to the quietness of Mangya Emerald Lake. But when we walked in, we gradually found several small pools with few people. We released the drone and saw that the area of Emerald Lake was actually very large, and there were almost no people next to many pools, which could produce very good results. So be sure to walk in after entering the scenic spot! Don't stay in the pool at the door with a lot of photo props.

Qinghai Dachaidan Emerald Lake is located in the westernmost part of Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai, a few kilometers west of Dachaidan Town on Liuge Expressway G3011.

"Emerald Lake" is a magnesium sulfate subtype salt lake and the third largest artificial lake in Haixi Prefecture (a legacy of mining). It covers an area of more than 26 square kilometers and produces high-quality potassium, magnesium, lithium and other elements.

Because the salt bed is reflected by the alternating light blue, emerald green and dark blue lake water and is crystal clear, the locals call it the "Emerald Lake".

After such a long time of continuous salt mining by workers, hundreds of salt pits have been dug. These salt pits have formed salt pit lakes of different sizes under the action of salt crystals and mineral-rich water bodies. The salt pit lakes of various shapes show a dreamy emerald green. There is no charge now, but a toll station is being built. When I went there, even the toilet was not open.

A free scenic spot, in fact, it should be considered a part of Dachaidan Lake or an affiliated lake, not far from Dachaidan Town, the road condition is not very good, it should become a paid scenic spot in the future. When we went there, we had been playing for a day, and both of us were very tired, so we were not in a good state to take pictures. In addition, the weather was a bit cloudy and it was getting dark, so we didn't see the most beautiful appearance. But you can imagine that it will be very beautiful when the weather is clear, and it will show the color of emerald.

I went to Emerald Lake for two consecutive years. The background was the snow-capped mountains of the Qilian Mountains, the sunlight, the blue sky. The view from Chaka Town was inferior to that from Emerald Lake. I recommend it. It is very convenient to enter Emerald Lake in the navigation.

The unique salt lake landscape of Daxiadan Emerald Lake is like a piece of dazzling "emerald" inlaid on the earth. It is not an exaggeration to call it a paradise on earth.
