We didn't have to get up too early this morning. Not long after we set off, we arrived at the Yadan Landform Devil City. This magical landform is found in many natural scenic spots near Haixi. It is deserted and looks like a pile of earth, but it is actually a rock. It is said that when the wind blows, it will make a very scary sound of ghosts crying and wolves howling, which is also the origin of the name of the Devil City. There are many uninhabited areas of this kind of landform in Qinghai and Gansu. Several famous places have been developed into scenic spots. In fact, many uninhabited areas on the side of the road can be played. The one we arrived at is next to the road. No tickets are required. You can run in after parking the car on the side of the road. If it is an off-road vehicle, you can still drive a little further in and climb up the pile of rocks. In front of you is an endless desert, vast and boundless. In the northwest region, you will have this feeling at any time. The masters here are nature, desolation, grandeur, sky, earth, desert, and you.
The impression that the whole Yadan gave me was a dry hill, giving people a desolate and sharp feeling.
The moment I got off the car, I have to say that the wind in the Devil City was super strong, the kind that made me breathless. In addition, there was no sun and the temperature was not high, and the wind was blowing so cold that it was chilling! You can see how cold I was and how strong the wind was from the photos. After taking a few photos, I quickly jumped back into the car. Today, I was risking my life to take photos!
Nanbaxian is located on the northern edge of the Qaidam Basin on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is a landform combination of long strips of earth mounds and depressions that extend intermittently, and is a kind of Yadan landform. Because of its peculiar and bizarre landforms, erratic winds, and the mysterious and piercing sound of the wind generated by the peculiar terrain, coupled with the local rocks rich in iron and strong geomagnetism, which often cause compasses to fail, resulting in the inability to distinguish the direction and get lost, it is regarded by the world as a ghost city and a maze, which is unique. Let's review the geographical knowledge. Yadan landform now refers to a kind of wind erosion landform in dry areas. The ground formed by river and lake soil sediments, through weathering, intermittent water scouring and wind erosion, forms a combination of wind erosion mounds and wind erosion depressions (grooves) parallel to the prevailing wind direction and arranged alternately. This is another free attraction, but there is only one dry pit on the way there. If you mind, drink less water. The name Nanbaxian comes from a person's name. In order to commemorate eight female geologists who were looking for oil and finally got lost and died in the Devil City, the place where they died was named "Nanbaxian".
The Yadan Ghost City in Haixi is not as exquisite as the Yadan Geopark in Dunhuang, but it is definitely a place where you can marvel at the uncanny workmanship of nature. The sand dunes are closely connected and independently formed. Some hills are quite difficult to climb, and there is no entrance fee here. The road next to it is a popular place for taking blockbuster photos. You can take a look.
Yardang landform now generally refers to a type of wind erosion landform in dry areas. The ground formed by river-lake soil sediments has undergone weathering, intermittent water scouring and wind erosion, forming a combination of wind erosion mounds and wind erosion depressions (grooves) that are parallel to the prevailing wind direction and arranged alternately.
If you pass by, you can take a look. It has exotic features and is worth a visit.
The wind is howling, it really is the legendary Devil City. When you come here, you will sigh that the beautiful mountains and rivers of our motherland are so amazing.
A thousand years of sorrow and loneliness, if you also like silence, if you are also lonely in your heart
Come here
Super shocking, must be praised, must be high score, must be praised
We climbed up a very steep mound, which was as high as a ten-story building. Standing on the mound, we looked at the thousands of "armies" that had been eroded by wind and sand for many years. Looking back at the road we came from, we no longer knew the direction and could not help but feel awe. In front of nature, human beings are really like mayflies.
The endless cliffs look like a city.
Yadan on a rainy day is more worthy of the title of Devil City
This landform is not seen where I live. I think it is very special. Plus the weather was good, I instantly forgot about the headache and nausea caused by altitude sickness. I put on my mother's scarf and started taking pictures, hahaha.
I like this kind of nature. I drove for half a day without seeing a single house.
The various shapes of rock sand piles look like ancient castle walls or steamed buns. It is said that whenever a strong wind passes by, the wind passing through the rock sand piles will make sounds like the howling of ghosts and wolves. We did feel a little eerie and scary when we drove through them.
The force of trillions of years of weathering has made life in this place still. The Yadan landforms stretch for hundreds of kilometers, with hills of all sizes standing alone. Aren’t they lonely? In the dead of night, will they really not move or communicate with each other?
When we finally saw a flat land, we thought that the demons in the Devil City were just like that. Unexpectedly, after driving for a few minutes, we suddenly found a large army of hills in the distance. We were a little scared. Our descendants will be endless. We were alert and excited as if we had discovered the enemy. We couldn't help but wonder, who is the master of this land?
There is no human habitation here, except for the Gobi Desert and weathered rock piles. When the wind blows, it will make a very scary sound of ghosts crying and wolves howling, which is why it is vividly known as the Yadan Ghost City. The Yadan Ghost City in Qinghai can be seen in the uninhabited areas on both sides of the road, and no tickets are required, so you can play however you want.
However, it is recommended not to go too deep into the no-man's land, otherwise you will get lost and unable to find the way out and face life-threatening danger. This is an no-man's land and there is no communication signal, so even calling for help cannot be done normally.
The beauty of the Yadan landform is both eternal and changing. It is majestic and steep, harmoniously combining the sturdy and ancient masculine beauty with the elegant and pretty feminine beauty.
The Devil's Town in the dark is terrifying
No vital signs
Without the warmth of the sun
In the dark night
In the desolate Yadan
As if in outer space
I saw loneliness
Loneliness as a human being
The sunrise in Devil City is very stunning.
As the red sun slowly rises
The warmth of the sun drives away the coldness around you
The sun is a symbol of hope
Nature is so magical, creating so many beautiful sights.
The ground here is relatively soft, basically there is a pit where you step, and the shoes will sink a little. It feels like stepping on slightly harder cotton.
I took a few slow-motion videos for my friends who were traveling with me. It felt really good with the wind.
The rugged rocks, desert Gobi, and Yadan landforms are very unique!
When entering the area around Devil City, the terrain is complex and the conditions are harsh, so be sure to follow the guide's instructions.
Reminder for self-funded jeep tours in the scenic area: Disband at the No. 3 viewing point, you can take photos and then get on the bus to the next viewing point No. 4 (a total of four viewing points), or you can take the scenic jeep for a self-funded tour, which has a more in-depth route.
The long road slowly accompanies me...
Encountering the Devil City When you first see this place, you will have a sense of déjà vu of the ancient city of Jingjue. "Yardang" is a Uyghur word, originally meaning "a hill with steep walls", and later refers to the combination of wind-eroded ridges, mounds, wind-eroded grooves and depressions. The lake plains and alluvial plains in arid areas often crack due to shrinkage. Under the long-term erosion of directional winds, the cracks gradually expand and become grooves, which form the appearance of the "Devil City" in front of you.
The entire Yadan is well-proportioned, high and low, and large in scale. It is a masterpiece of nature. The Yadan in Qinghai can be seen in the uninhabited areas on both sides of the road. No tickets are required, and you can "go wild" at will. But don't go too far, otherwise you may get lost, because it is located in an uninhabited area and there is no communication signal. With the development of tourism in the Northwest, coupled with the peak tourist season, there are more and more tourists in the uninhabited area, and the most beautiful road is full of tourists. We took a few photos on the road next to the Yadan, and the visual sense of the most beautiful road is still there.
The wind is super strong. Be careful when you climb to the top.
Want to feel the feeling of a 10-level blower blowing your meat until it shakes? ! Then go to Qinghai Yadan
It's really cool hahahaha
The creation of heaven and earth is breathtaking and miraculous.
I don't know what happened to the vast sea, but it turned into an endless expanse of sand. Once it rains, the salt water in the sand will come out and form white salt frost, so there is no grass here, and there is no vitality. Only the stubborn crosswind often circles back and forth here, accompanying these old sand piles. When the wind blows, ghosts make eerie sounds, and people walk around at night without coming out, so it is named Devil City.
It's super shocking. There is no mobile phone signal here. It's called the Devil City, but there's nothing mysterious about it. There's a road running through it, and there are vehicles going back and forth. There are often tourists, so don't be afraid. There are relatively few cars on the straight road. When taking pictures, you should choose a place with a wide view. There is also a scenic spot called Water Yadan about 100 kilometers away. You can get there by walking along the road. It should also be worth visiting.
The only thing I want to say about the Devil City is that the wind is super strong! After we got off the bus, we were blown so hard that we almost doubted our lives. Everyone put on their coats and shawls and masks. When you open your mouth to talk, sand is blown into your mouth. You really need to wear more clothes, otherwise how do you think this Yadan landform with thousands of ravines and gullies was formed?
Free to visit, the Yadan landforms are found in Qinghai and Gansu, the one in Dunhuang costs 120/person, the Qinghai Lenghu Yadan is more beautiful than the one in Dunhuang, and it is free. The wind is really strong, and it sounds like a devil's roar at night, hence the name Devil City.
The road to Yadan was full of Gobi desert and no-man's land. We drove for more than 5 hours and crossed the no-man's land to reach the Devil City. The sky was cloudy and there was no blue sky. It looked cold and lonely.
Yadan Ghost City, the most beautiful road, stunningly beautiful all the way...
The weather was very good and we were quite lucky. If it rained, we wouldn't be able to take good pictures. It's really beautiful to take pictures here, with blue sky and white clouds. The sky is so beautiful. I love this blue!
It took many years of wind erosion to be polished into this appearance.
The scenery given by nature is the most beautiful!
This is the Nanbaxian Yadan in Qinghai. In addition, there is an underwater Yadan in Qinghai, which is more than 100 kilometers away. Unfortunately, the driver said that the route we took did not reach this place.
There is no entrance fee here. You can ride a beach car and enjoy the endless Yadan landform. It is very enjoyable to stand on the top of the mountain and take pictures.
After a lot of photos and drone shooting, I drove through security and headed straight to the Yadan in Qinghai. I have been to many Yadan landforms and have seen various ghost towns. The one in Qinghai is not as majestic and magnificent, but it has a large number. You can't see the entire border as far as you can see. So, drones can be used here. Tips: Xiao Ma said, those who play with drones, come on, come on
Devil City is the hottest place I have ever been to. The temperature should be over 40 degrees, and it is even hotter when the sun is directly shining at noon. It is simply impossible to stay outdoors.
Last night we drove past this place, it was so scary that it almost made people pee. When the wind blew, it would make a very scary sound of ghosts crying and wolves howling. This is why it is vividly known as the Yadan Ghost City. The Yadan Ghost City in Qinghai can be seen in the uninhabited areas on both sides of the road, and no tickets are required. You can play however you want.
Most of the tourists who come here drive themselves or charter a car. Everyone stands on a hill and takes photos.
The low level of development should be a disadvantage, but it is precisely because of this low level of development that this place is more charming and mysterious! It is an uninhabited area with almost no signal!
The complete embodiment of the Yadan landform. The sandstorm next door left this ghost city. Children from the south are still very excited to go there.
It is a "vast ocean" that emerges out of thin air in the endless desert. Yadan Devil City stands on this vast ocean, magical and mysterious, with unparalleled stunning beauty! It is also a piece of jasper in the desert, or it may be a forgotten corner. When you go deep into the desert and suddenly see a series of lakes in front of you, you think it is a mirage, which looks very dreamy. It is also a death zone where angels and demons coexist. In the past, explorers have disappeared here. It is called the Devil City because at night, if the wind blows, the sound is like the howling of ghosts and wolves, gloomy and terrifying, like a ghost castle. The water of Yadan is still blue and clear, and the rough and dry earth mounds and stone lakes are divided into fragments and scattered in the desert. As for how this magical and mysterious lake appeared, some people say that it was a heavy rain in a certain year, which caused the Naren Gol River flowing through here to surge, and a mountain torrent broke out, causing the river to divert and flow here. Standing on the huge mountain top, you can get a better viewing view, and people at this moment also seem very small. In the distance, you can still see mounds scattered in the lake. There is no such spectacular Yadan landform group as seen on the Internet, so perhaps we need to go deeper.
I was shocked by the Yadan landform. It is like a castle, with city walls, streets, buildings, squares, churches and sculptures. It is vivid and lifelike. I heard that when the wind blows at night, there will really be the sound of ghosts screaming.
PS: There is no entrance fee, the weather is very hot and sunny, so it is better to escape early.
The scenery is beautiful and suitable for taking pictures, but be careful not to let the sand fall into the camera.
Yadan landforms also exist in Xinjiang. Although they have their own characteristics, it is enough to have seen one. The reason why it is called the Devil City is that when the wind blows suddenly, there are ghosts and ghosts, and they cannot get out when walking at night. It is a pity that it is not possible to travel at night. For this strange phenomenon, I am still looking forward to seeing it. . To visit the Yadan Devil City, you need to take the scenic bus to enter, and the tour guide will explain the whole process. The entire scenic area covers an area of 400 square kilometers, and it is only a drop in the ocean open to tourists. There are four shooting spots along the way. The most spectacular one is the last attraction, the West Sea Fleet. The longest stay is the peacock-shaped Yadan in the picture above. It is allowed to walk a little deeper into the scenic spot, but the Sphinx and the Pyramid are the most novel. The tour guide will strictly control the time to get off the bus to visit. However, under the scorching sun, the visiting time given is enough to take pictures and appreciate, and there is no intention to stay for a while longer. In terms of the ticket price, it is the most cost-effective attraction in the whole journey, but think about it as early as in ancient times, it was a vast ocean. Billions of years of geological movement left this natural workmanship, and in the end, they will also turn into a Gobi and disappear. . Since we are lucky enough to see it, it is worth taking a look.
Yadan Ghost City on the way to Dangjin Mountain in Dachaidan gave me the biggest shock of my trip to Qinghai! The endless yellow mounds will make you marvel at the uncanny workmanship of nature. Here you will feel your own insignificance and the greatness of nature. The visual impact of the Ghost City is very strong, and it is a great place to take portraits and landscapes!
The Gobi Desert here is black because the temperature during the day can reach 70 degrees. Yadan is called the Devil City because of the strong wind, which makes the sound like the devil shouting.
Mysterious towering hills... It was a windy day... There were whistling sounds coming from the hills in broad daylight... If you were to walk around in the huge Devil's Town at night... You would be frightened by the constant strange noises and the enemies on all sides...
The wind is so strong. I really want to know the difference between the Yadan on the water, the Yadan in Qinghai, and the Yadan in Gansu. . .
You can take photos of the road and the sandy Gobi Desert. It's dry and hot, so drink plenty of water, eat more fruits, and protect yourself from the sun. The toilets are impressive. It's very depressing to look at the yellow sand all day long. There's no life.
Although the hill is steep, it has great friction and is very easy to climb. The endless Yadan in the extremely arid area and the unique desolate and magnificent scenery of the no-man's land
The kids loved this place and climbed up hill after hill. The small earthen mounds under their feet were like squeezing out the foam protective film of packaging when they were children. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. Although we applied sunscreen, our bodies were still hot. We had fun and took photos for two or three hours.
The small motorcycles inside are highly recommended, 150 per bike, two friends can play together, the boss will lead the way in front. The most important thing is to let the boss lead once, the driving skills are so cool!!! The boss will also be responsible for taking pictures
The Devil City has not started charging admission yet, but locals say it has been planned as a scenic spot and that a fence will soon be built to prevent people from entering and leaving at will.
We listened to the strange sound of the wind in the Devil City and felt the charm of this windy city. If you drive a good off-road vehicle, you can plan a route to rush into the slope, which must be no different from the excitement of driving in the desert.
The Devil City is a must-go place on the way to Dunhuang. Seeing some locals renting motorcycles on the roadside, I asked for two. We walked along the tire tracks on the ground and communicated with the wireless walkie-talkie at any time. After walking for about 3 km, we were dropped off on the highest mound of earth. Looking around, we saw numerous fortresses in the city, stretching endlessly, and a sense of vicissitudes of life arose spontaneously.
Looking at this yellow land covered by white salt and alkali with no grass and no animals, a sense of awe arises spontaneously. This place exudes the masculine spirit of the men in the northwest, majestic and resolute. When a gust of sandstorm blows and covers the sky and cannot open your eyes, it is mysterious and terrifying.
Motorbikes cost 160 yuan each and need to be led by a local to enter the city. If you are traveling around before or after mealtime, you need to bring your own dry food.
The vast Gobi Desert is uninhabited and barren. Driving on the highway, a sense of desolation hits you. The piles of salt-alkali sand and rocks with different shapes, sculpted by the wind, make people think about it and feel a lot. We drove on the vast Gobi Desert for an entire afternoon, with no signal and no people. We watched the changing wind and clouds, the ups and downs of the mountains, and marveled at the ingenuity of nature.
It is magnificent and very spectacular. It is worth a visit.
Encountering the Devil City When I first saw it, I felt like I was in the ancient city of Jingjue.
It is still a long way to the Yadan Devil City. The sky is gloomy all the way, but this kind of weather is very suitable for the scene here. This is a typical Yadan landform community. When the wind blows, it makes strange sounds. People call it the Devil City.
I have read about the Devil City in Nanpai Sanshu's "Grave Robbers' Chronicles". The description in the book and the scary name have cast a mysterious color on this hill. It is really spectacular. In fact, the scenery in the northwest is large. The sense of vastness is really not easy to encounter in the south, but it is different from the vastness of the sea.
A magical city with a thousand-year history. The Yadan landform is extremely spectacular. It would be great to have a mountain bike. It is amazing to encounter wild camels on the road. The vast Gobi Desert is so magnificent.
Yadan Ghost City is free to enter. The color of the Ghost City is yellowish-red. It is recommended to wear light-colored clothes. Pure colors such as blue and white will definitely be very beautiful.
The scenery on the road does not require tickets. It is very spectacular and unique. The grandeur of the Northwest is fully reflected here.
There are special cars to pick up and drop off the scenic spots in the scenic area, and there are also guides, so the guides can only wait outside, and private vehicles cannot enter the scenic area. The landmark attractions in the scenic area are also fenced off. The guide has been telling us not to leave the designated area privately because of curiosity. Once you leave, the road will enter the Devil City, which is wide and boundless, and it is very easy to get lost. There is no signal inside, and even the compass will fail. Once the wind blows through the Devil City, it is like a burst of sounds like ghosts crying, so it is called the Devil City. There is little rain and snow here. The average annual rainfall in the Devil City is only about 39 mm. When we went there in April, we wore thick down and autumn clothes and autumn pants in Qinghai Lake, but here we only wore a vest skirt and sunscreen shirts, and it was particularly hot. In July and August, the outdoor temperature can reach 50℃, and the surface temperature is at least 60℃~70℃. The guide said that the patterns on the soles of some tourists wearing rubber shoes were melted, and if you cracked an egg into it, it would be cooked and burnt immediately. The car in the Devil City will take you to various famous scenic spots, and each place will stay for about 20 minutes. At the end, there is a trip to go deep into the Devil City, but it costs extra. It is said that you can see the Devil City's topography from a closer distance.
It is a beautiful place with a vast area, especially suitable for taking pictures. Girls must wear red skirts that can sway in the wind, and boys should wear something neater. You can stand on the sand dunes of the Devil City and pose casually. You don’t need a professional camera. You can take pictures with your mobile phone to create a sense of déjà vu of a photo studio, coupled with the blue sky and white clouds. It is fun to join a group tour, and you can pose in various styles, but time is tight, so self-driving is more recommended. The road is very flat and novices can drive without any problems.
Spacious and majestic, you can feel the wonders of nature and the Yadan landforms of varying heights and in an orderly manner.
Qinghai Grand Loop 1 (a wandering from empty space to travel photography) https://m.mafengwo.cn/i/9748765.html
The wind on the Yadan was so strong that I felt like I was going to be blown down! I didn't dare to stand up straight. It was an uninhabited area with few vehicles passing by!
Simply put, Yadan is a small mound of earth, which is the work of nature. In addition to marveling at the wonders of nature, people also like to take photos of it.
We set out from Daxiadan Town early in the morning. The further west we went, the thinner the air felt, and the smell of heat, dryness and sleepiness became stronger. To pass the time, we played games and sang songs in the car.
We set out for the Yadan Ghost City in Haixi. The name sounds scary, but when we actually stepped into the uninhabited area of hundreds of kilometers, we felt a sense of tranquility of "the wilderness of the south". The works carved by wind erosion over tens of millions of years are presented to the world without reservation.
I found a hill that was good for sightseeing, stepped on the weathered sand and stones, stumbled uphill, and finally climbed to the top, where I was blessed by the bright sun, and enjoyed the most magnificent scenery from the northwest. Rows of intermittently extending long strips of earth mounds and concave trenches were distributed at intervals, blending together in an interesting way.
It had just rained, and the terrain was muddy. We wanted to climb up to take a look, but it was difficult. A group of people went back after walking a few steps. One person climbed to the top to take a video, and his shoes almost got stuck.
The sky was so close that it seemed within reach. Although our shoes were dirty and the road was wet, everyone was in a good mood.
When I entered Yadan and before I stepped on it, I always felt that it was hard, but it turned out to be soft and fluffy, which was quite unexpected.
Climbing up the slope, the view is unparalleled, with a sense of vastness and openness, as if you can see the end of the world.
It is actually a kind of landform. It is very windy there, so please keep warm. Park on the roadside to watch, no entrance fee is charged
This is the second attraction besides Chaka Salt Lake that I think has a better experience
The wind was very strong and I felt like I would be blown away standing up high. I was still jumping around and posing for photos.
When you enter the Yadan landform, please take off your shoes. It's like mud (it rained a few days before we went there), and the soil is soft. Be careful when driving in. I saw no less than five cars stuck.
Under the sky, there are a large number of vast Gobi Deserts, surrounded by uninhabited areas. The endless desert cliffs show an incomparable and stunning beauty in this desolate place. They are uneven, undulating, and connected to the boundless sky! Seeing their neat and orderly appearance, people can't help but think of the Egyptian pyramids that have stood for thousands of years.
We climbed to the top of the dune and looked down. We couldn't help but feel our feet go weak, but the scenery was really beautiful. The dunes in the distance were of different shapes. I had never seen such a scene before: the blue sky was covered with white clouds, looming, and below were round and shiny sand dunes. The picture was pure and beautiful, and I was deeply impressed by the ingenuity of nature.
The Yadan landform in Qinghai is one of the top ten Adam Yadan landforms in the world. The master suggested that we choose to go to the Yadan Devil City and give up the Yadan Devil Place on the water. As a freestyler, I would buy whatever my friends chose to go to. Moreover, I was a little exhausted after traveling hundreds of kilometers every day. I was most reluctant to get up very early to go to both places. The great thing was that my friends had the same feeling. After listening to the master's advice, we only went to the Yadan Devil City. The master said that another name for this place is Nanbaxian. I thought it was the work of nature. After thousands of years of wind and sand, sand piles similar to the mythical stories of the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea were sculpted. The master drove the car into the Devil City. Basically, there were only five of us in the whole place, and many cars were parked on the side of the road. In comparison, the master was really great. After getting off the car, I looked carefully at the sand piles I could see and didn't find anything like a fairy.. At this moment, the driver started to laugh at me and said I was stupid (I obviously trusted the driver who was also the tour guide).. The driver said that the reason why this place was named Nanbaxian was because eight female geologists came here to explore for resource development in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China due to the scarcity of national resources, and they died for some reason.. The driver said that he could only drive the car here. If he went further, he might get lost and couldn't find the way out. I was a little in awe of this place. In the following time, I didn't dare to leave Lao Yang for more than 10 meters.. As far as I could see, there was no one, no grass, and it felt very desolate. I think I probably wouldn't dare to stay here at dusk. However, it was still very shocking to see such a scenery. The four of us jumped and took a lot of photos. Now I look back and feel a little handsome.
