One kilometer into the scenic area, in fact, it is not the salt lake, but the salt pan. The salt lake will be 10 kilometers later, but there are many freight trucks, and it is difficult to find the salt lake without a guide. In addition, the salt pan behind is not as beautiful as the scenic area in front, so it is enough to take a look at it from one kilometer. Compared with Chaka, it wins because there are fewer people.

The Chaerhan Salt Lake is located inside the factory. If you want to see its true appearance, you naturally need to pass the gate inspection. Don't be fooled, there is no ticket for the Chaerhan Salt Lake! Nian Nian and Wang finally followed a few out-of-town cars into the factory. It's funny to say that whether they were allowed in or not depended on the mood of the security guard at the gate. Although we were lucky enough to get in for free, this scene really disappointed us. The rain made the salt lake very turbid, which was far from what we saw when we made the strategy before.

However, the further you go in, the larger the area of salt accumulation on the shore becomes, and the deeper it becomes. It looks like snow, doesn’t it? It’s a different way to go and I had a lot of fun!

A very stunning attraction is the salt pan of the Salt Industry Company. It is in a remote place, so there are relatively few people there. The scenery is very beautiful. Because it is not open to the public, there is no entrance fee. However, sometimes you cannot drive in. You need to take a local car or have the local bring the car in. You need to pay some fees, which can be negotiated. But it is worth visiting.

Because potassium salt is the main salt here, the color of the lake water is not white, but green. There are many factories around the Chaerhan Salt Lake, and many lands are fenced off for drying salt and then mining salt. It is currently free here, but the landscape avenue is being built, and it is said that it will be charged in the future. It is a real salt lake, but unfortunately it is separated by water and cannot reach the lakeside. The salt bank is a very suitable place for taking pictures. The Chaerhan Salt Lake is absolutely beautiful!!! It is like a huge emerald on the loess land. In fact, there are many salt lakes in Qinghai. Qinghai Lake and Chaka Salt Lake also have their own beauty, but I prefer the seldom visited Chaerhan Salt Lake, mainly because the color of the water is very special. When you first enter this area, the water surface is not green, but a light yellow. After going deeper, it presents this emerald green color under the reflection of the sun~

The Qarhan Salt Lake is a relatively far scenic spot, and even the parking lot is free. The staff also provided us with water for the RV, which was very enthusiastic. However, we did not enter the ticketed scenic area, but went to "Above the Salt Sea" recommended by car friends. This is a free scenic spot on National Highway 215, which can park more than 10 cars. The Qarhan Salt Lake is the largest salt lake in China, and is as famous as the Chaka Salt Lake. The salt lake is more than 160 kilometers long from east to west, 20 to 40 kilometers wide from north to south, with a salt layer thickness of about 2 to 20 meters and an area of 5,800 square kilometers.

We set off early in the morning and not far from the city we arrived at the Qarhan Salt Lake in Qinghai Province, which is also one of the most famous inland salt lakes in the world.

The Chaerhan Salt Lake is the lowest and most central part of the Qaidam Basin. It is more than 160 kilometers long from east to west, 20-40 kilometers wide from north to south, and covers an area of 5,800 square kilometers. The lake stores more than 50 billion tons of sodium chloride, which can be consumed by people all over the world for 1,000 years.

To go to the Qarhan Salt Lake, we need to pass through the Salt Lake Potassium Fertilizer Plant. We were blocked for a while. Finally, thanks to the lobbying of the beautiful Xiao Wu who was in the same car, the leader at the gate agreed to let us drive through the factory for free. However, in the end, we were also banned from entering the most core tourist area because it was free.

The Qarhan Salt Lake is located in a large potash fertilizer factory. You need to take a shuttle bus to get in (a bus leaves every 40 minutes). The factory is still in operation. In fact, there are not many places to play and take pictures. The scientific significance is more important than the entertainment significance. The Wanzhang Salt Bridge is the biggest highlight of the Qarhan Salt Lake. It is right at the end of the shuttle bus and is suitable for aerial photography. The whole salt lake is the color of mung bean soup. I heard that the color you see at different times of the day will be different. It should be related to the light.



The area around the salt lake is all white, and the weather is good, so it's quite sunny.



I originally thought that it was already a mature scenic spot, but when I went there this time I found that it was still in trial operation. No tickets were required, but the shuttle bus cost 50 yuan per person (to be honest, it was really expensive).

Speaking of "Sky Realm", if it is a nearby place, you think of Chaka Salt Lake, and if it is a far place, you think of Uyuni Salt Lake.

But you would never imagine that in Qinghai, there is a salt lake that is second only to Uyuni Salt Lake and 56 times the size of Chaka Salt Lake, the largest in China and the second largest in the world. We went to the Chaerhan Salt Lake to take wedding photos. The photos have been edited, but the scene still shocked me. A local friend in Golmud took us to the salt lake. Although it was not a good season in early April, the salt crust had not formed, and it was only salt mud, deep and shallow, but I was still shocked. By the way, you must go in the evening when the sun sets. After a full lunch of hand-pulled mutton, take a rest, and then slowly set off. Don't forget that there is a 2-hour time difference between here and Beijing in theory.

It costs 20 yuan to get there from the Hexi roundabout. You have to walk a few kilometers from the salt factory to the center of the lake. I walked a few hundred meters and a curly-haired uncle stopped and took me to the center of the lake. Thank you, curly uncle.

The scenery is so-so, so you can't go down. There is a museum at the entrance of the factory that you can visit.

I took my father on a self-driving tour there in 2017. It is 60 kilometers away from Golmud City. It is in the factory area of Salt Lake Potash Fertilizer. You have to follow the rules, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and don’t leave any garbage!

We finally found the Qarhan Salt Lake, which is not open to commercial tourism. It is behind the potash fertilizer branch of Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co., Ltd., and you need to get permission from the gate guard to enter the factory. So the security guard at the gate charged 100 yuan per person for the so-called "ticket" (the salt factory is very large, and it takes several kilometers from the gate to the lake, so you have to drive into the hinterland of the salt factory to see the beautiful scenery of China's largest salt lake). We negotiated that we would take pictures until quite late, so it would be best to drive in by ourselves, 100 yuan per car.

The car drove into the endless salt fields, and saw several salt ponds neatly arranged. In the clear sky, the water and sky were one color, which was spectacular! A circle of silvery-white salt crystals appeared by the water, like a beautiful necklace on the pond. Tourists lingered on the shore and took photos with the beautiful scenery in front of them.

There are white salt crystals on both sides of the lake, and the lake water is transparent and green. On sunny days, the surrounding scenery, sky and white clouds are reflected in the lake, and at night, the lights are reflected, which is a great place for photography.

Looking around, the surface of the entire salt lake is salt crystals. If you don't look closely, it can easily be mistaken for newly cultivated land. No wonder people who come here for the first time can't recognize it. It is so large, the view is wide, the salt flowers are beautiful, and the color changes of the salt lake are very layered.

On the second day, we waited for the sunrise at the Qarhan Salt Lake again. Although the weather was very cold, the morning glow and the rising sun were very shocking. We all felt that it was more beautiful than the Chaka Salt Lake.

In the distance, the sun began to slowly jump out of the horizon, peaceful and brilliant. Such a beautiful scenery made us not afraid of the cold and continued to fight. It was hard but happy! I accidentally stepped into the salt water by the lake, and soon my shoes and trouser legs were covered with a layer of white. One foot was actually "pickled"... Haha!

The salt lake is located in the Gobi Desert, surrounded by flat land and uninhabited. When we went there the day before, there were only a dozen people in the huge salt lake. In the evening and the next morning, there were only four of us in the car.
