Although Qinghai Lake in early spring is not full of rape flowers, it is still so beautiful. There is a feeling that the mountains, water and grasslands are integrated into one.

I booked the accommodation near Qinghai Lake two months in advance. The inn is only a few hundred meters away from Qinghai Lake, and it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the lake. Although it was very late when we arrived, we were lucky enough to catch the sunset. (I didn't book in Heimahe because I thought there were too many people.) The accommodation was on the way to Heimahe, in an inn by the lake. I stayed in Qinghai Lake for two days. The boss of Xining Youth Hostel asked me disdainfully: Why did you stay in Qinghai Lake for two days? There is nothing to see. I think everyone has their own way of traveling, just like I like the humanities of the city and the scenery of the beautiful scenery. Standing among the sparse rapeseed flowers, it feels like you are by the Qinghai Lake, which is still in full bloom.

As we all know, Qinghai Lake is a very rip-off attraction. There is no charge to enter the lake area, but if you want to walk from the lakeside road to the water's edge, each piece of land is fenced off and charged separately. Qinghai Lake is very large, but the scenery is mainly concentrated on the south side, that is, the Sun and Moon Mountains-Heima River section. I personally think it is not necessary to circle the entire lake, and the development of the lake area is a mess (so bad that it is breathtaking), and every place is enclosing land and charging money, which is a very bad experience.

Qinghai Lake is one of the main attractions of this trip. It was cloudy in Xining in the morning. I thought it would be difficult to take good photos of the lake in this weather because the water was not colorful. However, it was clear after driving for dozens of kilometers. Qinghai Lake was called "West Sea" in ancient times. It was called Qinghai after the Northern Wei Dynasty. It is called "Kukunor" in Tibetan, which means blue or cyan lake. The name of Qinghai Lake began in modern times, and it was not generally called Qinghai Lake until 1949.

The Erlangjian Scenic Area is divided into two areas. One is a large square and street next to the road, where many buildings and cruise ship docks are also located. The other is a narrow, pointed peninsula that extends more than ten kilometers into the lake. It is shaped like a sword, which is the origin of the name of the Erlangjian Scenic Area.

There are two Tibetan-style streets in the square of the scenic area. There are some Tibetan-style prayer flags and sculptures around the streets and squares. In the lake is the site of the Chinese torpedo launch experimental base. This was the location of the 151 torpedo base after the founding of the People's Republic of China, so the Erlangjian Scenic Area is also called the 151 Scenic Area.

Qinghai Lake, called "Cowinbu" (meaning "blue sea") in Tibetan, is located in the northeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and in Qinghai Province. It is the largest inland lake in China. When going to Qinghai Lake, you must be prepared to eat half-cooked rice and keep warm in spring and autumn.

After going down the mountain, we continued to walk towards the Heima River for about 100 kilometers, and finally arrived at the Shinaihai Township that we remembered. It can be said that this place is zero distance from the lake, and there is an opening that allows you to walk directly to the lake, and there is no toll.

As soon as we arrived at the lake, everyone went crazy again. The drone flew for the first time, causing great excitement among the friends.

You don't need to spend dozens of dollars to enter the so-called Erlangjian scenic spot when you come to Qinghai Lake. The viewing angle there is definitely not as spectacular as at the top of Nanshan Mountain, unless you want to take a boat tour of the lake.

Many people who live in Heimahe Township watch the sunrise at Panchen Laze because it is closer to the lake. I asked the uncle at the hotel and he said that you can't drive down there now and you have to walk there. I checked and found that if you drive there, you still have to walk 2 kilometers to get there, which takes nearly half an hour... It feels too far. So I asked him about another sunrise viewing point shown on the map. He said you can watch it there and you can park your car. So we chose another point.

2) It is 16 kilometers from where we live.

Because the sunrise time was 6:33 that day, we got up at 5:30 in the morning and drove out at almost 6 o'clock. When we were almost at the point shown on the map, we saw the car in front of us driving down the side road. There were herders charging 20 yuan per car. It was acceptable. We could drive the car directly to the lake, which was very close and there were few people (only a few at the time, and only a dozen later), which was worth it.

3) I saw the sunrise photo my friend took at Heima River, which was from the mountain beside the lake. The angle of the sunrise from Huanhu West Road can avoid the mountain. I personally prefer the feeling of the sun rising from the wide lake, so I think it is more beautiful to watch the sunrise here.

At first, there were clouds, and I didn't see the sun at 6:33. I thought I couldn't see the sunrise, so I talked to the tourists next to me. But in the blink of an eye, a red sun 🌞 jumped out of the water. It didn't come out little by little, but it jumped out all at once, like an egg yolk, it was very beautiful. But it was too cold, so you must keep warm when you go to see the sunrise. I wore two down jackets, but my hands were still stiff.

The weather is just right now, but the temperature difference at night is still quite large, so you must do a good job of sun protection and keep warm. The rape flowers on the roadside are simply beautiful, and taking pictures while riding a horse is really beautiful!!!

On May 31, 2019, I visited Qinghai Lake. I didn't enter the Erlangjian Scenic Area, but walked around the herdsmen's land for 10 yuan per person. I personally feel that the Qinghai Lake is more spectacular when viewed from a high place, with a different visual experience. Weather: Be sure to check the weather before setting off. Generally speaking, there are more sunny days in the plateau area, but showers are also common.



Clothing: When you come to Chaka Salt Lake, you will know that everyone likes red 😂. Personally, I think red clothes are indeed suitable for the occasion, but white and black will be more unique. It should be noted that if the skirt or pants are too long and get wet, they should be washed in time that night, otherwise the clothes will become disposable.



Travel time: Two days are definitely enough to visit Chaka Salt Lake and Qinghai Lake. Three days is also fine if you have enough time. If you go to Qinghai Lake Chaka from Xining, it is recommended to visit Chaka on the first day, because Chaka in the afternoon is the most beautiful. This is why many people cannot take pictures of the sky. The ultraviolet rays in the plateau are particularly strong and the light is sufficient. It is basically not conducive to taking pictures from 10 am to 4 or 5 pm. So if you want to take ideal photos, you must choose the afternoon. It gets dark later in the plateau, and you don’t have to worry about taking good pictures.

July to August is the most beautiful season of Qinghai Lake, but it is also the most expensive time for hotels. To avoid the peak tourist season, you can only choose to come to Qinghai in May and June. The starting point of Qinghai Lake cycling is in Xihai Town, and the end point is also in Xihai Town.
