Bell and Drum Tower Square

Also known as Shangshu Province Square, it is located in the center of Xi'an, with an area of 60,000 square meters, second only to Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
This was once the seat of the Shangshu Province in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, which was the highest administrative body for executing state affairs at that time.
On the east side of the square stands a bell tower with a history of 600 years, and on the west side stands the largest drum tower in the country.
On the north side of the square are Tongshengxiang, Defachang, Wang Haitang and other time-honored shops; below the square is the Century Jinhua Shopping Center.
When night falls, the lights of the music fountain, bell tower and drum tower light up together, which is very spectacular.

As a resident of the ancient city, I have never been to the bell tower. Unlike other places, I always feel that it is near home and I am not in a hurry. The scenic spots in other places always feel distant from me, so I must go and see them when I pass by. But I believe that every resident of the ancient city has a different feeling for the bell tower, which is absolutely the center of the city. I like the bell tower, and there are super super many foods near the bell tower. Must recommend...

The Bell and Drum Tower is a landmark building in Xi'an. The two Ming Dynasty buildings echo each other from afar, which is spectacular.

I only realized it after I came to Xi'an

“Xi’an New Year, the most Chinese.”

This sentence is not exaggerated.

The streets are filled with red lanterns, which are a stunning fusion of traditional Chinese Spring Festival folk culture, Chinese classics and fashion.

The square is quite relaxing, next to the bell tower and drum tower, and there are many tourists.

Maybe it's because I live in the Bell Tower Hotel. I see the Bell and Drum Tower Square every day when I go in and out. It is really the central location within the ancient city wall of Xi'an, and tourists come here in an endless stream every day. The ground is not accessible to pedestrians, and everyone takes the underground passage. The underground passage can really make tourists who come to Xi'an for the first time dizzy. I was dizzy anyway. After leaving the Bell Tower Hotel, there is an underground passage. The underground passages lead to the east, west, south and north respectively. I walk through this passage every day, but I still can't figure out the direction until the day I leave. It looks much better when the lights are on at night than during the day~

If you are a photography enthusiast, I suggest you come here to take pictures at night. The lighting effect at night is great and it looks crystal clear.

The bell and drum towers at night are magnificent under the lights.

Be sure to arrange your time properly when you go there so as not to miss it. The price of the Bell and Drum Tower adult ticket is 50 yuan, and the price of separate tickets is 30 yuan each. If you want to go up, it is definitely more cost-effective to buy a combined ticket. I suggest that you don't go up, it is already beautiful to take pictures of the night view from below.

This kind of bell and drum tower inherited from history is a must-have package for almost every megacity. As the ancient capital of 13 dynasties, Xi'an, with its long history and profound cultural heritage, demonstrates its profound context and broad mind. Located at the intersection of four main streets in the east, west, south and north of Xi'an, the bell and drum tower, which has stood for more than 600 years, is magnificent and magnificent. Thanks to the wisdom of urban planners, the bell tower and drum tower, which used to be difficult to see each other, are now happy to see each other, standing opposite each other, accompanying each other and looking at each other, showing the ancient history and modern vitality of Xi'an everywhere. It is open all day and free to visit. It is recommended to play and take pictures for 2-3 hours.

The lighting of the Bell and Drum Tower is just right, not too bright and dazzling, and can also make cameras and mobile phones take good pictures. The color also complements the original color of the building, brilliant and gorgeous. The night view is really pleasing.

By Xiangfei Zizhu |

The Bell and Drum Tower are two buildings that complement each other from a distance. Tickets are required to enter. After climbing the tower past the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, I felt that climbing the Bell and Drum Tower was meaningless. The best thing is to see the night view of the Bell and Drum Tower.

By Carefree |

Walk slowly towards the hotel from the crowds in Muslim Street, passing the Bell and Drum Tower. This is the center of the center of Xi'an. The lights of the Bell and Drum Tower are on, and the night is pleasant. It is a great place for taking photos.

It’s a pity that my photography skills are so poor that it would be an insult to me.

Xi'an is so beautiful at night, especially this square when all the lights are lit up, including the lights on the city walls. It's as if you've returned to the heyday of the Tang Dynasty.

The combined ticket for climbing the Bell Tower and Drum Tower is 50 yuan, and a single ticket is 30 yuan (if you don't have enough time, you can just visit the tower without climbing the tower. However, the Bell Tower is very suitable for taking photos of the city's night view. The avenue facing it is filled with a constant stream of vehicles and red Chinese knots). Behind the Drum Tower is the bustling Muslim Street.

By Lu Xiaoguo |

As soon as eight o'clock arrived and the lights were turned on, I rushed out to take all kinds of photos. I have to say that the Bell and Drum Tower is so beautiful at night. Compared with the daytime, it has a more prosperous charm.

By Rain marks within reach |

The main roads in Xi'an are all built from east to west and from north to south, and the Bell and Drum Tower Square is located on the central axis, which can be said to be a major traffic artery. There is a pedestrian walkway underground for pedestrians to cross the street. There is a map inside, which is quite convenient. Next to it is the Muslim Street, surrounded by many vendors selling small items. The scenery is more beautiful at night. Against the backdrop of the night, the dimly lit Bell Tower and Drum Tower have a unique flavor.

I had been here before during the day, and it looked like a very old cultural relic building. But that night, the bell and drum tower was shining brightly after the decorative lights were turned on. The bell tower and drum tower in Xi'an are very close to each other, and you can almost see each other. Generally speaking, if you are on a tight budget, you can just go to one of them. The Xi'an Bell and Drum Tower is located in the center of Xi'an. It is the collective name of two Ming Dynasty buildings - the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower. They are both iconic buildings in Xi'an. The Bell Tower is in the center of the ancient city, and the Drum Tower is slightly northwest. To the north of the Drum Tower is the Muslim Street, which is about 500 meters long and runs from north to south. It has almost become a food street, and many foreign tourists come here. I tasted the famous red willow lamb skewers and other halal delicacies here.

There is nothing interesting about the Bell and Drum Tower during the day, and night is the best time to view it.

It only costs a dozen yuan to take a taxi from Yongxingfang to the Bell and Drum Tower, which is very convenient.

The Bell and Drum Tower is particularly beautiful at night, standing at a busy crossroads. The lights give it a gorgeous coat of beauty, and it all seems so beautiful that it seems unreal.

By Little girl |

It is a pity that I didn't see the night view of the Bell and Drum Tower, but I still have to go and see it. As a landmark building, the Bell Tower is very recognizable and can be seen from a distance. There is a constant flow of cars and people around it. It is there quietly, witnessing the changes of things and the changes of the times. The same is true for the Drum Tower. Although I didn't climb up the tower, I could still feel the heaviness of history.

I saw many photos of the night view of the Bell and Drum Tower in the travel guide, which really amazed me from the bottom of my heart.

In fact, I didn't go there at night, but arrived at around 5pm. I bought a combined ticket to climb the Bell and Drum Tower and overlook Xi'an. Then I had a meal in Huimin Street. When I came out, it was just dark, so I saw the magnificent night view.

I think many people are like me. Although they know that the night view is more beautiful, they still want to see what the Bell and Drum Tower looks like during the day. Then you can choose my time. After all, you should not leave any regrets when you come here.

I don't know if it's because the Chinese New Year just passed and many street lights were not removed, or if it's just like this in Xi'an. There are lights everywhere, including the bell tower and the drum tower. It's really a tourist city. There are lights on the big trees on the road, which blinded me, but it's really beautiful and adds to the atmosphere.

As soon as we got out of the subway, we realized what the peak tourist season was. There were crowds of people everywhere and it was so crowded that we couldn't get through. Our family of three, carrying their suitcases, had to work very hard to find the Jinjiang Inn Bell Tower Branch (although it was very close to the subway entrance, its location was relatively hidden).

The bell and drum towers are together, so you can visit them together.

By Half a durian |

Walk back to the bell tower. Pedestrians should have four angles to view the bell tower, all of which are equally beautiful. If you want to buy a ticket, go up the bell tower and go to the underground passage. There are eight exits. We walked here several times in the next few days and almost got dizzy.

There are terracotta warriors displayed by merchants in the Bell and Drum Tower Square, and next to them are several Century Jinhua dolls.
