Before I went to Xi'an, I watched the documentary "Xuanzang's Journey". Standing at the foot of his statue, I looked up at this great man with great admiration. (When I was a kid, I first came into contact with Chang'an City and learned about the Big Wild Goose Pagoda when I played Fantasy Westward Journey. I didn't expect to stand here today and learn about his great history. I was very moved.)

Big Wild Goose Pagoda Cultural and Leisure Scenic Area, including Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Da Ci'en Temple, North Square, South Square, etc.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Da Ci'en Temple and is also known as the "Ci'en Temple Pagoda". In the third year of the Yonghui reign of the Tang Dynasty (652 AD), Xuanzang presided over the construction of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda to preserve the Buddhist scriptures and statues brought back to Chang'an from India via the Silk Road. It was originally five-story, then expanded to nine-story, and then the number of floors and height changed several times, and finally fixed to the seven-story tower body we see today. As the earliest and largest existing square pavilion-style brick tower of the Tang Dynasty, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a typical physical evidence that the architectural form of the ancient Indian Buddhist temple, the pagoda, was introduced into the Central Plains along with Buddhism and integrated into the Chinese culture. It is a landmark building that embodies the wisdom of the ancient Chinese working people.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was successfully listed as a World Heritage Site as one of the sites of the "Silk Road: Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor Road Network" jointly applied for by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a square pavilion-style tower with a brick imitation wood structure, consisting of a base, a body and a finial. The tower is 64.7 meters high, with a base of 4.2 meters, a length of about 48.7 meters from north to south and about 45.7 meters from east to west. The bottom floor of the tower is 25.5 meters long and is in a square cone shape. The finial is 4.87 meters high. There are 9 rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors, 7 rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors, and 5 rooms on the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th floors. There are archways on all four sides of each floor.

There are usually underground palaces under ancient pagodas. Just like there is an underground palace under the Famen Temple Pagoda, there must be an underground palace under the Big Wild Goose Pagoda as well, but it has not yet been excavated. It can be inferred that the underground palace under the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is very likely to contain the Buddhist treasures brought back by Xuanzang.

Climbing up the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, you can have a bird's eye view of the panoramic view of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Cultural and Leisure Area.

The Da Ci'en Temple of the Tang Dynasty was built in 624 AD (the 22nd year of the Zhenguan reign of the Tang Dynasty) by the Crown Prince Li Zhi (i.e. Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty) on the site of the old "Jingjue Ancient Temple" in Jinchangli, south of the imperial palace, in order to mourn his mother, Empress Wende. The area is 342 mu, which is 7 times the area of the existing temple. The entire project "exhausted all the skills and used all the good wood". After the temple was built, it was extremely magnificent. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty named the new temple "Da Ci'en Temple". At that time, the Da Ci'en Temple was the largest temple in the Tang Dynasty. When the temple was newly built and completed, the Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang was ordered by the court to be the first abbot. He personally supervised the construction of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the temple, and translated Buddhist scriptures here for more than ten years, led the Buddhist scripture translation site, and founded a Buddhist sect.

It can be said that it should be the general name of Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Da Ci'en Temple, and Datang City that Never Sleeps.

By Star Whisper |

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located inside the Da Ci'en Temple. The tickets for the temple and the tower are separate.

The tower is not very tall, but it is very old and has historical significance.

The night view is beautiful, and it is recommended to walk along the pedestrian street. There are various lights, shops, etc. on the road.

By Elegant interior |

The night view is nice and has a lot of cultural heritage. You can learn about Buddhist culture.

By Yangyangyang is very lazy |

There are squares to the north and south of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which are places for citizens to relax. There are many tree lights hanging on the east and west sides, which are suitable for taking photos.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Da Ci'en Temple. It has seven floors and is the earliest existing brick pagoda of the Tang Dynasty. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was first built during the Yonghui period of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty. It was built by Emperor Li Zhi in memory of Empress Zhangsun and supervised by the Tang monk Xuanzang. After returning to Chang'an from his pilgrimage to obtain Buddhist scriptures, the Tang monk served as the first abbot of the Da Ci'en Temple, where he translated Buddhist scriptures and founded the Faxiang School.

As the saying goes, “If you haven’t visited the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, you haven’t really been to Xi’an.” The Big Wild Goose Pagoda, also known as the Da Ci’en Temple Pagoda, is a masterpiece of Buddhist architectural art from the Tang Dynasty in China.

Many of the scenery, such as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Tang Dynasty City That Never Sleeps, are very beautiful and dreamy.

Although there are crowds of people everywhere, you won't feel like visiting again after just one visit; on the contrary, you'll see many families out, young and old, and it's lively and bustling, making you feel that this is the flavor of the New Year.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a landmark building in the ancient city of Xi'an. There is a large square next to it where citizens can relax and fly kites.

By LAMHIUFOON |

The night view under the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is very beautiful. It can be seen that Xi'an has put a lot of effort into the night view. Almost every tree is hung with colorful lights. I think it is much more beautiful than the so-called musical fountain.

By Xiaomin |

Standing under the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the wind blows the bells, making bursts of bell-tinkling sounds, which is quite touching. You can stop and listen quietly for a while.

By Andy.Bohu.Tang |

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda Cultural and Leisure Scenic Area is relatively empty, and many people come here to exercise.

By magic bell |

I was frightened by the large renovation project in front of me. The air was full of paint smell. I felt very disappointed. The beautiful scenery I was promised to see turned out to be a series of fenced-off renovation scenes. We left after walking around for a few minutes.

By Mr Lee |

The cultural landscape is 70% listening and 30% seeing. It is recommended to ask the tour guide to listen to the story of Xuanzang's journey to the West, not the story of Journey to the West. We still listened to the whole process and learned a lot of knowledge. I think it is a must-see place in Xi'an, and it is very well-known.

By DONNY*SHEI |

As we approached the ancient pagoda, we could feel the vicissitudes of history. The pagoda looked even more ancient and solemn when combined with the surrounding imitation Tang Dynasty buildings. Taking a group photo was also the common wish of all the tourists from all over the world.

There were so many people that I lost my cell phone signal. Also, I didn't see the fountain and didn't know when it would start.

A note to all of you who are planning to visit Xi'an to see the fountain! Don't go the wrong way!

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda Cultural and Leisure Square is located at the foot of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is a cultural and tourist attraction for the people of Xi'an to enjoy, gather, and sightsee. After visiting the square, Professor Huo Songlin, a master of Chinese studies, happily wrote a poem: "The water and trees are beautiful, the buildings are new, the flowers are like brocade, and the grass is like a carpet. The square has the beauty of a garden, and it is a place for people to enjoy the leisure and enjoyment of the people." The North Square is large in scale, with a water fountain as the theme landscape. The entire square is divided into three equal parts with the Big Wild Goose Pagoda as the central axis; the East and West Pedestrian Streets are located on the east and west sides of the Da Ci'en Temple respectively. There are many sculptures and small figures that are delicate and lifelike, reflecting the real life scenes of the people in the Tang Dynasty and embodying the prosperity and strength of the society in the heyday of the Tang Dynasty.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a very important coordinate in Xi'an and is well worth visiting. The sculpture of Xuanzang in the square in front of the scenic spot is shining, and against the backdrop of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda not far away, it makes people feel calm in an instant.

The space inside the tower is very small, and both going up and down the stairs use the same passage. During the process of climbing the tower, it was so crowded that I was worried that the tower could not withstand so many people stepping back and forth. There are some exhibits on each floor of the tower, including 2 relics. Apart from that, there is not much to see. When I climbed to the seventh floor, the scenery outside the tower was quite good, but I could only stay for a while.

By Through thick and thin |

It is known as a national 5A-level tourist attraction and is located at the foot of the landmark building, Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In fact, it feels really ordinary. If it were not for several other historical landscapes around it, it would be nothing at all. It is just an ordinary square. Musical fountains are now everywhere.

By I'm not crazy. |

The lights were just coming on, so I took a battery car for a walk. It was nice but cold. I recommend Yongfeng Qishan Noodles, which is across the road.

By Shadows accompany people for a long time, |

The park is really big, and the lights are really beautiful at night. The musical fountain starts at 9pm. If you want to see it, reserve a spot in advance, otherwise there will be a lot of people. I looked at the fountain and felt a little disappointed. I thought it would be the kind of exciting music with dazzling lights, but I think it's not bad, after all, this scenic spot is free.

Tips: You can climb the tower during the day, the lights are beautiful at night, the garden is large, if you have time, you can visit the Tang Furong Garden. The music fountain starts at 9 o'clock, come early, otherwise the viewing location is very bad.

By Omega |

I heard that the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a landmark of Xi'an, so I had to come here even if there were many people. To be honest, I thought the Big Wild Goose Pagoda should be finely carved and look like silver and jade, but when I got there, I found that it was a gray and very plain pagoda. I was disappointed. How could it represent Xi'an?

However, after listening to the story of Xuanzang's journey to the West, I was impressed by his courage and perseverance. It was not easy to study Buddhist scriptures for decades. After leaving the scenic area, I unexpectedly enjoyed a fountain show. Although it was not at night and I could not experience the perfect combination of lights and fountains, the fountain and rainbow complemented each other in the sun, which was also a rare beauty.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda scenic area is very large, mainly consisting of the North Square, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Ci'en Temple and South Square.

The North Square includes statues of some famous scholars of the Tang Dynasty and the famous musical fountain, as well as many areas for entertainment.

The atmosphere of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Not only the various statues and introductions of the characters in the North Square, but also the stunning Big Wild Goose Pagoda can all make us imagine how prosperous the Tang Dynasty was.

Especially at night, there are a lot of people here. Many children who come to Xi'an and like fresh and clean things love this place. The architectural style of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is very special. It has been renovated in successive dynasties. It was first built by Xuanzang. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the most popular attraction in downtown Xi'an. Even in the evening, it is still crowded with people.

By Celine Wang |

On the first day of the new year, many people will go to Da Ci'en Temple to burn incense. It is said that the incense is very popular. You can see the city view from the seventh floor of the tower, but the haze is too serious and the view is not very beautiful. There is a "sarira" in the tower, and many people hold up their mobile phones to take "close-up" photos of it. There are copper bells hanging on each corner of the tower eaves, making crisp sounds in the wind, as if telling tourists about those ancient past events. There are some stone benches outside the tower. Sitting on the stone benches, listening to the sound of the copper bells, smelling the smell of incense wafting from not far away, looking up at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in front of you,

By Sofen |

I was really disappointed after entering. The ticket was 50 yuan per person, and climbing the tower was another 30 yuan. Then it was really just a tower, with some small halls introducing Sakyamuni, Xuanzang and the like, which were not very big. Then there were people, and that was nothing else.

By Jun's promise must be fulfilled |

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda Cultural and Leisure Scenic Area includes the Da Ci'en Temple, the South Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the North Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and the surrounding Shaanxi Opera Grand View Garden, the Da Ci'en Temple Ruins Park, and the Shaanxi Folk Customs Grand View Garden. There are many people doing morning exercises in the early morning, and more tourists in the evening, because there is a fountain show in the North Square, which is very beautiful. The whole area is quite large, clean and tidy. It feels very good to walk around here.

By ""Laugh, laugh, laugh"" |

There are seven floors in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The higher you go, the smaller it gets. The steeper it gets. The hotter it gets. Because it has many years of history, it feels a little unstable when you climb it, but it is actually very solid. When you come down from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, you can see the musical fountain in front of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. I heard that the musical fountain in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the largest in China, but because we saw it during the day, it was not as beautiful as it was at night.

By Be a soaring eagle |

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built by Xuanzang to store Buddhist scriptures after he returned from his pilgrimage. It is a Buddhist resort with many people burning incense and worshipping Buddha. Tickets are 50 yuan, student tickets are 25 yuan, and if you want to climb the tower, you can buy a ticket for 30 yuan inside.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a landmark building in Xi'an and one of the must-see attractions for tourists to Xi'an. It was built by Master Xuanzang in order to preserve the scriptures he brought back from India, and it has been preserved to this day. The current Big Wild Goose Pagoda Cultural and Leisure Scenic Area not only has a huge musical fountain, but also the Qin, Han and Tang International Cultural and Commercial Plaza. Before coming here, I just watched "The Great Tang Xuanzang" starring Huang Xiaoming, and I realized how difficult it was for Tang Sanzang back then.

By Zijin |

This photo of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is really ugly. The main reason is that there are too many uncles and aunts dancing in front of the tower at night. The square is too crowded, so I didn’t find a suitable angle. Let’s just take a look at it.

By Although Daji is beautiful, she is still a demon |

Tsinghua University has new buildings and palaces, and the flowers are like brocade and the grass is green. The square has the beauty of a garden, and it is a place for people to enjoy leisure and enjoy themselves.

By The Moon Rises Over the Sea |

A very good tourist attraction. Here I dreamed of returning to the Tang Dynasty. The night view and fountains are super beautiful.

By Qingya White Deer Chirp Chirp |

The entire Big Wild Goose Pagoda Cultural and Leisure Area is quite large. If you only want to visit Da Ci'en Temple and Big Wild Goose Pagoda, just go to the ticket office in the south of the scenic area. Tickets for climbing the tower must be purchased at the ticket office under the tower (I don't remember if the ticket office at the entrance of Da Ci'en Temple has a package ticket >_<). Inside the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, you walk up the stairs counterclockwise in a spiral. There are windows in the southeast, northwest, and northeast of each floor for viewing the scenery.

Try to avoid weekends and holidays, especially during peak hours like National Day! Otherwise, you will feel the fear of being drowned by the crowds! And you will waste a lot of time queuing!

By Noah's Ark |

The price/performance ratio of Big Wild Goose Pagoda is relatively low. You need to pay a ticket to enter the park and another one to go up the pagoda. There is nothing special on the pagoda.

A comprehensive area around the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the architecture and landscape imitate the style of the Tang Dynasty, and there are many sculptures reflecting the scenes of the Tang Dynasty in the middle of the road. The leisure area is very large, with snacks and souvenirs. In addition, friends who like to send postcards can pay attention to the fact that there is a souvenir shop on the first floor of the Qin, Han and Tang Commercial Center on the right side of the main entrance of Da Ci'en Temple. It is called "Xi'an East and West". The goods sold are designed by the designers in the store. The postcards are very Xi'an-style, and the store can also help mail them.

The musical fountain and the sky dome are both pretty good, but it's a pity that I didn't go to Ci'en Temple this time

By Clear sky |

I went there on June 7 last year, specifically wanting to see the musical fountain, but it was under maintenance for more than ten days. This is my second time going to Xi'an this year, so I must go and see it. The fountain is OK, but the music is really unacceptable. It's like a guard of honor. There are many restaurants and snack streets around. I went to Burger King and sat there for a while until it started. It's almost winter and there's wind. The water blowing on my body is really chilling.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda Cultural and Leisure Area is a large area surrounding the Ci'en Temple, including the Big Wild Goose Pagoda North Square, South Square, Ci'en Temple Ruins Park, Music Fountain, and the passage areas on the east and west sides of the temple. I especially like the statues of Tang Dynasty city scenes on the east side of the temple. The customs and folk customs of the Tang Dynasty are integrated into it, allowing people to understand the folk customs of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. There is a green mailbox at the south end of the east side of the passage, standing silently in front of the red wall, which is very eye-catching and nostalgic. Tourists who like to send postcards and collect postmarks can bring postcards here to deliver. There is also the Ci'en Temple Ruins Park on the east side, which is a good place for a quiet walk in the bustling city. There are stone Buddhas, rockery, and cherry blossoms under the Sino-Japanese Friendship.

The North Square is mainly for tourists who come to watch the musical fountain, those who enjoy the cool air, and those who fly kites, while the South Square is for uncles and aunts to practice square dancing. The entire cultural and leisure scenic area can really meet everyone's diverse needs.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Da Ci'en Temple in the Yanta District of Xi'an, so it is also known as the Ci'en Temple Pagoda. It is a masterpiece of Chinese Buddhist architectural art in the Tang Dynasty. The origin of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is closely related to Tang Sanzang's journey to the West to seek Buddhist scriptures. It is a brick pagoda built by Master Xuanzang to enshrine the relics and scriptures brought from India. It has now become a landmark building in Xi'an. Therefore, you can still see the statue of Master Xuanzang standing in front of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the South Square. You need a ticket to enter the pagoda. I didn't go in, but just watched from the outside. There are many Buddhist relics and Buddha foot stone carvings inside. Friends who have time are still worth entering the pagoda to explore.

Here I want to remind everyone not to choose to travel during holidays! I am a real case. There are so many people, just like zombies, and there are always waves of them that can never be defeated. The photo above was taken from the bottom up. I think everyone has seen the crowd below. You can use your imagination~

I had made a guide before. There will be a musical fountain in the North Square at night, which is said to be the largest musical fountain in Asia. I asked the security guard at the square and he said there will be one at 8:30 pm, but I have to go there at 7:30 to get a good seat. As a result, I was unable to see it due to time constraints, which was a pity. In short, there was basically no day on this trip to northern Shaanxi that was completely in accordance with the original itinerary. There were regrets and surprises (mentioned below), but isn't this the charm of free travel?

The entire area around the Big Wild Goose Pagoda has been transformed into a street with cultural characteristics, which is nice to walk around.

Because the tickets were too expensive, we just walked around outside. My grandfather was exempt from tickets because he was over 80 years old, so we went in and had a good time. He also climbed up the Wild Goose Pagoda so that I could relax.

However, the inscriptions on the Wild Goose Pagoda and the banquets in Qujiang are no longer prosperous, and for a Muslim like me, there is not much point in visiting.

This is one of the three 5A scenic spots in Xi'an. The first abbot of Ci'en Temple was Master Xuanzang... The most important thing is that there is the largest musical fountain in Asia... The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is really beautiful...

The scenic spots in Xi'an all have a sense of grandeur and heaviness, probably because of the royal style~~

However, this fountain, uh, you can see it... the so-called bigness is actually due to the mask, it is really big...

It is said that there will be a fountain show in the evening, but we didn't see it because we arrived too late... If you only want to see the fountain, you don't have to pay for the ticket... Considering the physical problem, we walked around outside and took pictures from all angles. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is very beautiful...
