Before I went to Xi'an, I watched the documentary "Xuanzang's Journey". Standing at the foot of his statue, I looked up at this great man with great admiration. (When I was a kid, I first came into contact with Chang'an City and learned about the Big Wild Goose Pagoda when I played Fantasy Westward Journey. I didn't expect to stand here today and learn about his great history. I was very moved.)

As the earliest and largest existing square pavilion-style brick tower of the Tang Dynasty, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a typical physical evidence that the architectural form of the ancient Indian Buddhist temple, the pagoda, was introduced into the Central Plains along with Buddhism and integrated into the Chinese culture. It is a landmark building that embodies the wisdom of the ancient Chinese working people.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was successfully listed as a World Heritage Site as one of the sites of the "Silk Road: Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor Road Network" jointly applied for by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a square pavilion-style tower with a brick imitation wood structure, consisting of a base, a body and a finial. The tower is 64.7 meters high, with a base of 4.2 meters, a length of about 48.7 meters from north to south and about 45.7 meters from east to west. The bottom floor of the tower is 25.5 meters long and is in a square cone shape. The finial is 4.87 meters high. There are 9 rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors, 7 rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors, and 5 rooms on the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th floors. There are archways on all four sides of each floor.

There are usually underground palaces under ancient pagodas. Just like there is an underground palace under the Famen Temple Pagoda, there must be an underground palace under the Big Wild Goose Pagoda as well, but it has not yet been excavated. It can be inferred that the underground palace under the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is very likely to contain the Buddhist treasures brought back by Xuanzang.

The Da Ci'en Temple of the Tang Dynasty was built in 624 AD (the 22nd year of the Zhenguan reign of the Tang Dynasty) by the Crown Prince Li Zhi (i.e. Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty) on the site of the old "Jingjue Ancient Temple" in Jinchangli, south of the imperial palace, in order to mourn his mother, Empress Wende. The area is 342 mu, which is 7 times the area of the existing temple. The entire project "exhausted all the skills and used all the good wood". After the temple was built, it was extremely magnificent. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty named the new temple "Da Ci'en Temple". At that time, the Da Ci'en Temple was the largest temple in the Tang Dynasty. When the temple was newly built and completed, the Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang was ordered by the court to be the first abbot. He personally supervised the construction of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the temple, and translated Buddhist scriptures here for more than ten years, led the Buddhist scripture translation site, and founded a Buddhist sect.

It can be said that it should be the general name of Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Da Ci'en Temple, and Datang City that Never Sleeps.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located inside the Da Ci'en Temple. The tickets for the temple and the tower are separate.

The tower is not very tall, but it is very old and has historical significance.

The cultural landscape is 70% listening and 30% seeing. It is recommended to ask the tour guide to listen to the story of Xuanzang's journey to the West, not the story of Journey to the West. We still listened to the whole process and learned a lot of knowledge. I think it is a must-see place in Xi'an, and it is very well-known.

As we approached the ancient pagoda, we could feel the vicissitudes of history. The pagoda looked even more ancient and solemn when combined with the surrounding imitation Tang Dynasty buildings. Taking a group photo was also the common wish of all the tourists from all over the world.

There were so many people that I lost my cell phone signal. Also, I didn't see the fountain and didn't know when it would start.

The space inside the tower is very small, and both going up and down the stairs use the same passage. During the process of climbing the tower, it was so crowded that I was worried that the tower could not withstand so many people stepping back and forth. There are some exhibits on each floor of the tower, including 2 relics. Apart from that, there is not much to see. When I climbed to the seventh floor, the scenery outside the tower was quite good, but I could only stay for a while.

It is known as a national 5A-level tourist attraction and is located at the foot of the landmark building, Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In fact, it feels really ordinary. If it were not for several other historical landscapes around it, it would be nothing at all. It is just an ordinary square. Musical fountains are now everywhere.

The lights were just coming on, so I took a battery car for a walk. It was nice but cold. I recommend Yongfeng Qishan Noodles, which is across the road.

The park is really big, and the lights are really beautiful at night. The musical fountain starts at 9pm. If you want to see it, reserve a spot in advance, otherwise there will be a lot of people. I looked at the fountain and felt a little disappointed. I thought it would be the kind of exciting music with dazzling lights, but I think it's not bad, after all, this scenic spot is free.

Tips: You can climb the tower during the day, the lights are beautiful at night, the garden is large, if you have time, you can visit the Tang Furong Garden. The music fountain starts at 9 o'clock, come early, otherwise the viewing location is very bad.

I heard that the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a landmark of Xi'an, so I had to come here even if there were many people. To be honest, I thought the Big Wild Goose Pagoda should be finely carved and look like silver and jade, but when I got there, I found that it was a gray and very plain pagoda. I was disappointed. How could it represent Xi'an?

However, after listening to the story of Xuanzang's journey to the West, I was impressed by his courage and perseverance. It was not easy to study Buddhist scriptures for decades. After leaving the scenic area, I unexpectedly enjoyed a fountain show. Although it was not at night and I could not experience the perfect combination of lights and fountains, the fountain and rainbow complemented each other in the sun, which was also a rare beauty.

I was really disappointed after entering. The ticket was 50 yuan per person, and climbing the tower was another 30 yuan. Then it was really just a tower, with some small halls introducing Sakyamuni, Xuanzang and the like, which were not very big. Then there were people, and that was nothing else.

Because it has many years of history, it feels a little unstable when you climb it, but it is actually very solid. When you come down from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, you can see the musical fountain in front of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. I heard that the musical fountain in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the largest in China, but because we saw it during the day, it was not as beautiful as it was at night.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built by Xuanzang to store Buddhist scriptures after he returned from his pilgrimage. It is a Buddhist resort with many people burning incense and worshipping Buddha. Tickets are 50 yuan, student tickets are 25 yuan, and if you want to climb the tower, you can buy a ticket for 30 yuan inside.

Tickets for climbing the tower must be purchased at the ticket office under the tower (I don't remember if the ticket office at the entrance of Da Ci'en Temple has a package ticket >_<). Inside the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, you walk up the stairs counterclockwise in a spiral. There are windows in the southeast, northwest, and northeast of each floor for viewing the scenery.

Try to avoid weekends and holidays, especially during peak hours like National Day! Otherwise, you will feel the fear of being drowned by the crowds! And you will waste a lot of time queuing!

The price/performance ratio of Big Wild Goose Pagoda is relatively low. You need to pay a ticket to enter the park and another one to go up the pagoda. There is nothing special on the pagoda.

The fountain square is large and the performance is spectacular. If you want a better position to watch the fountain, it is recommended to arrive early. This is the largest musical fountain show in China. It is really worth seeing and highly recommended!

The fountain covers a very large area, so if you stay on site and don't feel the momentum of the fire, it will be great to watch it from the opposite building.

I went there on June 7 last year, specifically wanting to see the musical fountain, but it was under maintenance for more than ten days. This is my second time going to Xi'an this year, so I must go and see it. The fountain is OK, but the music is really unacceptable. It's like a guard of honor. There are many restaurants and snack streets around. I went to Burger King and sat there for a while until it started. It's almost winter and there's wind. The water blowing on my body is really chilling.

There are stone Buddhas, rockery, and cherry blossoms under the Sino-Japanese Friendship.

The North Square is mainly for tourists who come to watch the musical fountain, those who enjoy the cool air, and those who fly kites, while the South Square is for uncles and aunts to practice square dancing. The entire cultural and leisure scenic area can really meet everyone's diverse needs.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Da Ci'en Temple in the Yanta District of Xi'an, so it is also known as the Ci'en Temple Pagoda. I had made a guide before. There will be a musical fountain in the North Square at night, which is said to be the largest musical fountain in Asia. I asked the security guard at the square and he said there will be one at 8:30 pm, but I have to go there at 7:30 to get a good seat. As a result, I was unable to see it due to time constraints, which was a pity. In short, there was basically no day on this trip to northern Shaanxi that was completely in accordance with the original itinerary. There were regrets and surprises (mentioned below), but isn't this the charm of free travel?

Because the tickets were too expensive, we just walked around outside. My grandfather was exempt from tickets because he was over 80 years old, so we went in and had a good time. He also climbed up the Wild Goose Pagoda so that I could relax.

However, the inscriptions on the Wild Goose Pagoda and the banquets in Qujiang are no longer prosperous, and for a Muslim like me, there is not much point in visiting.

This is one of the three 5A scenic spots in Xi'an. The first abbot of Ci'en Temple was Master Xuanzang... The most important thing is that there is the largest musical fountain in Asia... The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is really beautiful...
