The scenery is very similar to the Antelope Canyon in the United States. The scenic area is currently under construction. I thought the management would be chaotic before I went there, and I heard that the canyon was muddy and difficult to walk, so I didn't have much expectation. Unexpectedly, the management was very good. I took the scenic area bus back and forth, and the ticket plus the fare was 70 yuan per person. There were people at the bus station to record the number of people in the three open canyons to prevent guests from missing the bus. It was a very cloudy day when I went there. If it was sunny, the colors would definitely be more beautiful.

This scenic spot has not been developed yet, but there are already tour buses, 70 yuan per person. The tour guide on the bus told us that we were lucky because only the Birch Valley was open before the National Day holiday, and now we have upgraded the luxury gift package to open three valleys in total, adding two more, the Lion Valley and the Hibiscus Valley. The name is really nonsensical, because I found that it has nothing to do with the actual landscape. The main goal is the Birch Valley, which is still quite far away. It seems to be in a different direction from the Lion Valley and the Hibiscus Valley. It takes about ten minutes to get there by tour bus, and then you have to rent rain boots at the entrance of the ditch. This Birch Valley is hidden deep, and there is a pool of water at the entrance, which is uneven and sometimes deep and sometimes shallow, but in order to seize the opportunity to take pictures, everyone rushed forward bravely. The Birch Valley is more than 800 meters long. The first section just entered is like being painted with honey, and there is a feeling of not stopping until it is sweet enough to kill people. In the middle, the ditch is more curved and straight, the wall rock is stained with moss but there is no moss. The silky smooth texture of the wall rock makes people feel and move forward. I heard that this is the trace of water erosion thousands of years ago. Going forward, it becomes more twisted. The water in the ditch is more uneven. The golden sunlight and the emerald green moss evolve into a myriad of colors. Sometimes a halo flashes by, or a beam of light shoots vertically to the ground, just like a dream of nonsensical childlike innocence. So I say that the name of this birch ditch is not reasonable. Honey ditch and candy ditch are more appropriate. I walked 800 meters slowly and found that it was not satisfying, so I planned to start again. But when I entered the entrance, I found that the light at this time was not as good as before. It was a little dark in the ditch, so I believe that different people can see different feelings and give different evaluations. The influence of light is really too great.

Based on my feelings after visiting Longba Valley and Huashu Valley, compared with the Antelope Canyon in the United States, the rock walls of Ganquan Grand Canyon are mostly earth-colored but the water ripples are clearer and richer, while the walls of Antelope Canyon are smooth sand red but the light is more dreamy and dazzling. The moment you walk into the canyon, looking at its graceful curves, what else can you say except marveling at the wonders of nature? The light is just right, and the sandstone presents light and dark red, orange, and khaki colors, while where the sun doesn't reach, there is thick moss and lush green. When you look up inadvertently, you will see a line of blue sky above the canyon, and the red leaves, yellow leaves, and green leaves are shining - the autumn is really great!

Travel tips: Buy the cheapest ticket and go to the most classic canyon; the colors of the other two canyons are not as beautiful, but the slits are wider. I think they are more suitable for shooting martial arts movies or westerns.)

An undeveloped scenic spot, a very shocking geological wonder, worth a visit. At present, most of the roads here are still very poor, and the signs of the canyon (called "gou" by locals) are not very clear. There is a checkpoint on the road before entering the gou, charging 50 yuan per person, and giving a receipt. There are no printed tickets yet. There are tourist buses entering the gou at the checkpoint, and you can also drive in by yourself. There are locals to guide at the entrance of Huashugou and Longbagou, and a parking fee of 10 yuan per car is charged. Huashugou is the most beautiful of these gous.

This is my first time writing a travelogue, so here are some suggestions:

1. Time: It is recommended to go at noon, when the sun shines into the "river ditch" and it is more beautiful;

2. Experience: Not good. The road is under large-scale construction. It is not recommended to go there in a short time. There is not much to see. It is just in a village and can only be said to be a check-in point.

3. Cost: 50 yuan per person for self-driving, 70 yuan per person for tourist bus, 10 yuan for parking, and 5 yuan per pair for renting rain boots.

Yucha Grand Canyon is located 12 kilometers north of Xiasiwan Town, Ganquan County, Yan'an District, Shaanxi Province. It is a canyon group with Danxia landform. It is said to be extremely similar to the Antelope Canyon in the United States. I went to the Antelope Canyon in the western United States in June 2024 and it was really similar.

The "Ganquan Grand Canyon" was originally called the "Yucha Grand Canyon". It is said that it was discovered by a photographer in 2017. The photos quickly spread on the Internet and soon became a popular check-in spot for Internet celebrities and a popular place for photography enthusiasts!

Yucha Grand Canyon is not a centralized scenic spot as we imagine. It is a Danxia landform canyon community. The canyons discovered so far include: Huashugou Canyon, Mudangou Canyon, Longbagou Canyon, Huabaogou Canyon, Yixiantian Canyon, etc. There are more than a few kilometers between each canyon. The Huashugou and Mudangou are the most mature ones.

It is said that the formation of the canyon was caused by a strong earthquake that caused the red sandstone to break and collapse, and then it was formed by thousands of years of wind and sand erosion and rain erosion! The beautiful and smooth ripples on the rock wall, the mottled and changing light and shadow, and the green and fresh moss plants are magnificent and stunning the whole world! The scenic area only develops two valleys every day, and we walked in the Birch Valley and the Peony Valley.

The local government has centralized the management of the three valleys of Huashugou, Mudangou and Longbagou, integrated them into a formal scenic spot, equipped with a paid scenic shuttle bus, and officially started to charge tickets from January this year. Only two of the three valleys are open every day, and the visitor center will announce the two valleys open on that day. The ticket for Yucha Grand Canyon is 98 yuan, the scenic shuttle bus is 70 yuan, and the full ticket is 168 yuan. People over 65 years old, the disabled, soldiers, police, and reporters are exempt from tickets, but need to buy a 70 yuan scenic shuttle bus. We visited Mudangou and Huashugou this time.

According to research, a strong earthquake occurred here about 10 million years ago, and a crack of varying widths appeared on the mountain on the Loess Plateau. After long-term erosion by rainwater, a peculiar canyon landform gradually formed on the surface of the earth, presenting a beautiful ripple curve. When we went there it was just a few days before the road was closed for repairs. The only canyon open was Birch Valley, and the one spot with a line of sky was fake, just to satisfy tourists.

The so-called transportation fee is 70 yuan per person, and the management is overbearing. I am a little worried about what the result of such management will be.

However, Birch Valley is really beautiful, and it can be said that it is comparable to the Antelope Canyon in the United States, but the management needs to be improved.

I admire the wonders of nature. The Grand Canyon is very suitable for taking pictures. Any picture you take is a beautiful scene. The management of the scenic area is relatively primitive, but acceptable. The surrounding cave-style homestays have relatively simple facilities, but the sanitary conditions are good.

At present, the scenic area has only arranged three tourist attractions: Yixiantian, Mudangou, and Huashugou. Our actual walking route is: Yixiantian→Mudangou→Longbagou→Hushugou

It's not as good as what's said on the Internet. Fengmei Farmhouse is just average. The charge is not cheap. It's 80 yuan per person for a big bunk bed, which is several hundred yuan per room, almost as much as a star hotel. A big rooster is 280 yuan, which is really expensive.

The road was not completely repaired, so we took a minibus and stopped at only two places, Mudangou and Huashugou. This meant that we had to walk to Longbagou and Fenghuanggou near Mudangou. We didn't go to Fenghuanggou and Huabaocha because we didn't have enough time. But to be honest, Longbagou was the most worthwhile place to go among the three places I've been to. The route was very long, and there were no noisy people from tour groups. This view needs light to be perfect. It would be better in summer, and better in the morning, evening and noon. If there is water accumulation, you need to rent shoes, which is not expensive for five yuan. Bring your own shoes and walk in the mud. It's convenient to rent a pair of socks. Our driver provided disposable socks, which is quite convenient.

At first, a bee friend said that he wanted to drive to Ganquan Yucha Grand Canyon. I didn't know where it was. I searched online and found that it was the Chinese Antelope Canyon. I immediately confirmed the itinerary with the bee friend. It was really not easy to drive on a piece of loess. The scenic spot at the entrance charged 50 yuan for transportation. You have to rent water shoes for 5 yuan in each scenic spot to get to the valley. Although the water in the valley is not deep, you have to be careful to avoid slipping. The temperature at the bottom of the valley is lower than the ground. Even if you wear water shoes, you can still feel the cold water. But all this is worth it when you see the beautiful scenery of the sun shining into the valley.

In addition to self-driving, there are roughly three other ways to get there:

The first way: carpooling. At the reception window at the entrance of the waiting room of Yan'an South Bus Station, there are business cars or cars that can be carpooled to the station. The price is ¥150.00 per person. Generally, only three valleys in the Grand Canyon are covered.

The second way: charter a car. You can hire a taxi or a private car. The price is based on the price of carpooling (usually the price is between ¥300.00/car and ¥400.00/car. How to bargain depends on your ability). This method is more flexible. We didn’t have enough time and had to go back and forth on the same day, so we chose this method of travel.

The third way: public transportation. There is only one bus from Yan'an South Bus Station to Ganquan Yucha Grand Canyon at 13:00 every day. If you take this bus, you have to stay overnight at a farmhouse in the Grand Canyon. This is the first choice for those who have enough time. You can sleep in a local pit house and eat local farm food. If you want to go back and forth on the same day, you can only take a bus from Yan'an to Ganquan County in the morning, and then drive back to Yucha Grand Canyon. The first bus from Yan'an South Bus Station to Ganquan County is at 7:30 every day, and the buses depart in a continuous stream. However, this method is more troublesome and has uncertainties.

Four valleys have been discovered in the Ganquan Yucha Grand Canyon, from near to far: Birch Valley, Nanhe Valley (also known as Peony Valley), Longba Valley, and Leopard Valley.

If you are a careful person, you can definitely see the different styles of each gully: Birch Valley is about 800 meters long and is the most outstanding gully in the Grand Canyon. According to local people, the front half of Birch Valley is best viewed in the morning when the sun is high in the sky, and the back half is best viewed in the afternoon when the sun sets; Longba Valley is about 2,500 meters long and is the longest and most difficult of the four gullies discovered so far. Sometimes you have to climb high, sometimes you have to sink, climb tree forks, cross mountain ridges, hold on to cliffs, and step on muddy water. You need to help each other to walk; Mudan Valley and Leopard Valley are both about 200 meters long, and Mudan Valley has a narrow strip of sky, which is relatively inferior.

There is a certain distance between these four valleys. Huabao Valley is about 2 kilometers away from Longba Valley, Longba Valley is about 2 kilometers away from Mudan Valley, and Mudan Valley is about 8 kilometers away from Huashu Valley. Generally, people start from Huabao Valley, the farthest one, and leave the most beautiful Huashu Valley for last. Some people also walk in the opposite direction. We couldn't wait to walk the most beautiful Huashu Valley first, and then visit Longba Valley and Mudan Valley.
