The bronze chariot and horses of the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum are large bronze chariot and horse models of the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum. They were unearthed in 1980 on the west side of the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum mound in Lintong, Shaanxi, China. There are two chariots, one in front and one behind. After restoration, the size is about half of that of a real person and horse. They were made during the construction of the mausoleum, that is, between 221 BC and 210 BC.

Very famous cultural relic, well preserved. Very realistic
As the earliest, largest and best-preserved bronze chariots discovered in China's archaeological history, they are of great value to the study of China's Qin Dynasty smelting and bronze manufacturing technology, chariot system, and vehicle structure.
Very spectacular, very shocking, very representative historical relics
This bronze chariot was of Rolls-Royce level at the time, but unfortunately the car behind it was damaged and could not be repaired in a short time, so it is now a replica.
The national treasure-level cultural relics have their own special exhibition hall, and tour groups come one after another.
The bronze chariot is a single-shaft, two-wheeled chariot with a shaft length of 2.46 meters and a wheel diameter of 0.59 meters. The chariot is divided into front and back, and its expression is respectful and a little proud, fully showing the mentality of a high-ranking servant. The four horses have different expressions.
Very exquisite bronze chariot and horses. One cannot help but admire the wisdom of the ancients.
[Visiting Time] The Terracotta Warriors and Huaqing Palace can be arranged in one day. Both are in Lintong District, northeast of Xi'an city. It is best to visit the Terracotta Warriors in the morning and the Huaqing Palace in the afternoon. This can avoid the peak of Terracotta Warriors tour groups in the afternoon and provide a good sightseeing experience.
[Online Ticket Package] We strongly recommend the Terracotta Warriors-Huaqing Palace package! 228 yuan/person, which is more cost-effective than the 150 yuan in the peak season (before November 30) and the 120 yuan in the off-season (from December 1). Convenient admission: No need to exchange physical tickets for the Terracotta Warriors, you can pass through the gate by swiping your ID card directly. For the Huaqing Palace, you need to exchange physical tickets at the "Online Ticket Collection Office", which is next to the ticket office at the West Gate (Wangjing Gate) of the scenic area. There is a big sign that reminds you at a glance.
[Must hire a tour guide] I read a lot of travel guides before the trip. Those who hired a tour guide said they gained a lot, while those who didn’t said that the Terracotta Warriors were just a few big pits and the Huaqing Palace was just a pool of water. So we decisively hired a tour guide, and the facts also proved that "hiring a tour guide is right"! Just remember to take care of your wallet, because the tour guide will take you to the consumption counter, and we were fooled (please move to my travel notes to watch the bloody history).
[Back to the topic] The tour guides of the Terracotta Warriors are all regular soldiers wearing uniforms and carrying work badges. They are trained and certified by the local tourism bureau. The price is uniform: 90 yuan per tour guide, 8 yuan each for headphones, and the tour time is about 2 hours.
[Bronze Chariot and Horse Museum] As soon as you enter the museum, you will see bamboo slips introducing the two bronze chariots and horses, as well as photos of the actual objects when they were excavated (attached). It is worth seeing. The two chariots were in a wooden coffin. Due to the rotting of the wood over the years, the entire coffin collapsed and crushed the two bronze chariots and horses. According to the order of front and back, the one on the left is called Chariot No. 1, and the one on the right is Chariot No. 2.
According to the tour guide, the two painted bronze chariots are exquisitely crafted, which makes today's archaeologists marvel at the craftsmanship of 2,000 years ago. For example:
1. The parasol on carriage No. 1 is designed to be particularly user-friendly. There is a device on the handle that allows the parasol to tilt to the left or right to block the sunlight to the greatest extent. The parasol can also rotate to face the wind, so there is no need to worry about the parasol being blown by the wind while the carriage is moving forward.
2. The roof of the copper car is made of a whole piece of copper at one time, and the thinnest part is only 1 mm thick.
3. The wheel has no metal accessories and is made entirely of wood. The connection between the wooden strips and the wheel axis is made in accordance with the mortise and tenon structure system and the principle of thermal expansion and contraction.
4. The gold and silver chain worn on the horse's head is made of welded gold and silver. It is still unknown what technology was used. Since the melting points of gold and silver are different, how can the two be welded?
5. Another type of chain worn by horses is the "snap-on" type, which is very similar to the "buckle" commonly found on our backpacks.
6. The windows on the bronze carriage are similar to modern screens, which prevent people outside from seeing into the carriage, but people inside the carriage can see outside, thus protecting the privacy of the emperor or nobles inside the carriage very well.
"Tips" When buying bronze chariot souvenirs at the museum's official souvenir shop, pay attention to whether there is a chariot support. We got one without one, and later exchanged it for one with one in time. It almost became a regret.
Welcome to [My Travel Notes] for more detailed tour guide explanations.
It is exquisite and exquisitely crafted! I was deeply attracted by it at the first sight. I have to sigh at the superb skills of the Qin Dynasty craftsmen!
Very precious cultural relics with high craftsmanship are displayed in the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, but the lighting in the museum is very poor and dim, and many tourists use flash lights, which is damaging to the cultural relics.
The four horses of the bronze chariot No. 1 are extremely strong.
The No. 2 carriage is a replica. There were too many tourists, so we lost interest in taking photos.
The wisdom and craftsmanship of the ancients are so wonderful! I felt like crying the moment I saw it. The details are perfect!
There are two sets of bronze chariots and horses, one set is a replica 😳. There are quite a lot of people taking pictures. The display is very dark and has a great atmosphere.
It is right next to the three pits of the Qin Mausoleum Terracotta Warriors and Horses. You don't need to buy separate tickets and can visit them all.
Among the Terracotta Warriors, it’s a pity that the ancients made them too small. It would definitely look good if they were bigger.
The Bronze Chariot and Horse Exhibition Hall displays two unearthed bronze chariots, known as the Bronze Crown. Chariot No. 2 is a dome-shaped chariot, shaped like a turtle, and there are also unearthed cultural relics on display in the exhibition hall.
This museum is very famous because it displays another treasure of the museum - bronze chariots and horses. I don't think I need to introduce the bronze chariots and horses. What I want to say is that seeing the real thing is really a thrilling feeling. Whether it is the muscle lines of the horse or the facial expressions of the terracotta warriors who are already mottled and unclear, you feel that it is about to gallop towards you. If you have seen a 3D IMAX movie, it is the kind of carriage rushing towards you, the horse's hooves are about to kick you in the face, and you can even smell the dust and noise.
The essence of ancient culture, the mighty and majestic Qin Dynasty, I marvel at the craftsmanship of the craftsmen at that time. Even the shape has not changed for thousands of years. If something cannot be erased by time, it must be a miracle.
people mountain people sea Wow there are so many people, I took a photo and left immediately
Terracotta Warriors and Horses is a must-see in Xi'an. Otherwise, why come here? Well, to be honest, it's very good. It feels incredible. In front of so many foreign tourists, I feel proud that I am Chinese. Haha~ I admire the wisdom of the ancients and the magical hands of the working people~ The unsolved mysteries are a plus~ My boyfriend found a tour guide for me when I entered the door. . It seems to be 200 yuan (ps: a large group of people squeezed us to coma, haha~ But it doesn't matter, just treat it as a good deed, I'm still very happy~), anyway, the impression is perfect (don't deduct points for the crowds, there is no such thing as a few people in the scenic spot) 100% recommended, a big peach heart~
I can only describe it as beautifully made. I can't think of any other unnecessary words.
The carriages are well preserved, but there are too many people, so it is difficult to take panoramic photos
It is impossible to assess its value; the word “shocking” is enough.
I really don't understand it, so I just took a quick look... But it is indeed well-known both at home and abroad.
Find an explanation and listen to the history, it is very meaningful
The wisdom of the ancients is beyond the reach of modern people. Is the ancient high technology an unsolved mystery in modern times?
This is pretty good. There are a lot of foreigners and a lot of people.
The shape is exquisite and grand, very good. But there are too many people
When I first saw it, I thought it was the pinnacle of craftsmanship. It was only after I asked the tour guide that I understood its cultural connotations.
The crystallization of the technology of ancient craftsmen, the workmanship is exquisite, but there are too many people, resulting in a poor visiting environment. I squeezed in front of the glass cover with all my strength to take a photo and then was squeezed out.
The space inside is too small. The number of people entering should be limited. There were too many people. Everyone was very uncomfortable. Everyone came out sweating and couldn't visit properly. I hope it can be improved.
There were many people visiting. I was taking pictures and fell to the ground before I knew it. Fortunately, someone pulled me up. My arm was scratched and the skin was broken. I thought to myself, fortunately, I was not trampled.
There were so many people taking pictures that it was hard to find a gap.
The bronze chariot No. 1 has four horses drawn side by side. The rightmost horse has a tuft of something on its head, which is an unknown object. It is a symbol of the monarch, because in ancient times the right was respected.
There were too many people and I couldn’t find a good angle to take pictures. I couldn’t even capture the canopy. How sad.
Car No. 2 is also called "Anche". The explanation says that it is used to carry the coffin, which is what we now call a hearse. The windows of the car are still movable.
Located in the museum in the Bingma Toilet Scenic Area, it is an experience of walking into a history book
All of them were amazed by the skilled craftsmen of the time. Such an object, created under the productivity conditions of the time, must be said to be a godsend.
There are two carriages and horses on display. This one is the real one and the other is a replica.
The skills are amazing, but there are too many people, which spoils the view.
The interior of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. You have to go inside to see it. There are a lot of people. It's really beautiful.
The entire exhibit is covered in glass, but it does look exquisite, a true national treasure.
It's just a scene in the Terracotta Warriors Museum, nothing special
Terracotta Warriors is a must-see attraction in Xi'an. You can feel the shock of the Qin army and the manufacturing industry of the ancients. In China more than 2,200 years ago, the ancients had mastered mass production with extremely low errors, which made me feel extremely proud. The bronze chariots and horses are well-made and advanced in technology. Each terracotta warrior has a different ecological expression and advanced weapons. Only by coming here and listening to the guide's explanation can you truly feel the Qin Dynasty.
Solemn and elegant, luxurious and gorgeous, every stroke makes him vivid, as if he was still driving on the road of the Qin Dynasty.
The bronze chariots and horses are in the exhibition hall of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. There are two of them, one in front and one behind. After restoration, they are about half the size of real people and horses. Chariot No. 1 is also called the standing chariot or the high chariot, and chariot No. 2 is also called the set chariot. They are very exquisite.
In the cultural relics exhibition hall, what shocked me most were the two bronze chariots and horses unearthed from the Qin Terracotta Warriors Pit No. 2. These two bronze chariots and horses were cast in a quarter of the real size, and their complexity, exquisiteness and excellence of craftsmanship are amazing.
The two vehicles have no less than 5,000 parts in total. What is amazing is that all the parts are cast. Putting aside other things, just the canopy and umbrella cover with a certain curvature are successfully cast in one go. This is not an easy task even today with advanced technology and complete equipment, not to mention in the Qin Dynasty 2,200 years ago.
The casting of the eight bronze horses and two imperial officials is beyond the reach of contemporary engineers. Whether it is the overall shape or the depiction of the expression, character, and temperament, they have reached a level of lifelikeness. The casting is precise and the form and spirit are rare.
For example, the bridle of the bronze horse is connected by 82 small gold tubes and 78 small silver tubes. Each flat gold and silver tube is only 0.8 cm long. A gold tube and a silver tube are connected with a mortise and tenon joint. Its fineness and flexibility are no less than that of modern watch chains. It is truly an amazing miracle in ancient bronze smelting.
It's inside the Terracotta Warriors Museum. It's very beautiful. Very shocking
The one in the museum is said to be a replica, but it is still worth seeing. The ancients were able to create such works of art, and the craftsmanship at that time was still good.
We went to the Terracotta Warriors exhibition hall and saw replicas, but it was still very shocking.
The Bronze Chariot and Horse Exhibition Hall is also an important attraction in the Terracotta Warriors. It is said to be the most expensive car in the world. You can go and take a look.
There are two bronze chariots in the museum, both of which are national treasures. The lighting in the museum is dim, but it is recommended not to use flash when taking photos, as it is not good for the cultural relics and the photos will also reflect the glass. You can go to the museum before visiting pits 1, 2 and 3.
We seemed to have visited in the opposite direction, first going to the museum, then Pit No. 3, Pit No. 2, and Pit No. 1 in that order.
It is really shocking and I am amazed at the craftsmanship of our ancestors.
I admire the wisdom of the ancients. It also has air conditioning~~
My Great Qin Empire is awesome~~ Very shocking~~~
People say that the Terracotta Warriors are just so-so, but you still have to see them in person~~~
Everything in the Qin Mausoleum is breathtaking!!!
To see this, there were crowds of people, sweating, smelling, and quarreling. The security guards would rush up in time. It's better to just enjoy the pictures at home.
The bronze chariot and horses are unique and worth seeing·······························
Remember to turn off the flash when taking photos. Actually, there were a lot of people, but that was it.
The bronze chariot has a very famous name. After all, it is something from more than 2,000 years ago. If you look at it up close, you can still feel that the shape of the bronze chariot is indeed very beautiful. Such advanced technology was available at that time. One really has to admire the wisdom of the ancients.
In addition to the bronze chariot, this place also has some related introductions. I am an outsider, so I am just joining in the fun~
One is the real thing, the other is a fake. They are very beautiful, but not as big as I imagined.
This bronze chariot is in the museum. It is quite delicate and fully reflects the appearance of a chariot made by people.
It is an exhibit in the exhibition hall of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. It is really shocking. It is basically the same size as real people's carriages and horses, and the expressions of the people are also lifelike.
I feel that the entire Terracotta Warriors area is very magnificent and has a great atmosphere.
There are two bronze chariots and horses, one is a replica, and the other is a real burial object.
You can see the cultural relics up close, but I still remind everyone to be ethical and not use flash! It's free, right inside the Terracotta Warriors, not too big
In Xi'an, everything is visually stunning. It is a very nice ancient city and worth visiting.
It's a national treasure, made in half the proportion of a real person, with exquisite craftsmanship and lifelike appearance.
The ones in the display area are genuine. The No. 1 bronze chariot is genuine and very exquisite.
After reading the detailed introduction of the surrounding area, I was even more amazed
The bronze chariot No. 2 is a replica. The original is under repair and is also exquisite.
When I visited, the No. 1 Bronze Chariot and Horse was on a world tour. I never thought that people more than 2,000 years ago could have cast such exquisite bronze artifacts! ! There are also many gold and silver decorations on the surface, which are very delicate. Even in today's civilized and high-tech era, these would be difficult to obtain! It's really amazing!
This is a place that you can visit with the Terracotta Warriors. It is best to ask for an explanation so that you can learn a lot. Otherwise, you will just be passing by. For example, if there is no explanation, you will not know that it took the staff many years to splice the two carriages. Its umbrella cover is made according to the real carriage, and there is a mechanism inside. When the carriage turns, the umbrella cover will adjust the direction. After hearing this, you will have a different feeling when you go to see this carriage again, and you will have to admire the greatness of the ancients.
The ancients had exquisite craftsmanship, and each of their works was lifelike
The precious collections in the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum make people marvel at the wisdom of the ancients. Many details may not be exactly the same even with modern technology.
A must-see attraction in Xi'an. I think this is my favorite among the Terracotta Warriors. Because even if it is from the Terracotta Warriors, it looks like the real thing.
You must go to this place, where the bronze chariot and horses are located. There are two bronze chariots and horses, the front one is real, and the back one is a replica
There are two groups of carriages inside. When I saw it, one was an original and the other was a replica. I heard that the original one was loaned out for exhibition. If you have time, you may want to come in and take a look. It's quite good.
In the order of excavation, the two bronze horse-drawn carriages are No. 1 and No. 2, which are actually a set of carriages. The level of bronze manufacturing at that time was indeed limited. They were not made into the size of practical vehicles at that time, but were reduced by half. They were originally placed in a wooden box in a row one after the other. Later, the wood decayed and the filling soil on top collapsed. When they were unearthed, they were broken into more than 1,000 pieces, which were later spliced together by the staff. There are paintings all over the body, and most of the gold and silver ornaments are on the war horses. The light in the room is still too dim to look at. They are expressly prohibited from being exhibited abroad. I once went on a business trip to Shanghai when the World Expo was held. The requirements for air humidity during the process were very strict. If the temperature is high, the bronze will rust, and if it is low, the painting will fall off, which is not easy to serve.
Bronze chariot No. 1 has an umbrella cover, and underneath is a standing pottery figurine. Also on the chariot are his personal equipment - a bronze crossbow, a bronze shield and bronze arrowheads. He also has a bronze sword on his back. This guy is not just a full-time driver, he also works as a part-time guard.
Each of the two wheels of the car has 30 spokes. At that time, there were 30 days in a month. When the wheels rolled, the sun and the moon rotated. From this detail, we can see a concept of the Qin people. The dense spokes dispersed the pressure of the weight of the car body on the wheel rim, making the wheel light and strong. From the side, the area near the hub is widened. This is for technical considerations, which can enhance the strength of the lateral force of the wheel (I still haven't forgotten all the mechanical things in my undergraduate studies~). The heads of the four bronze horses are held high, and their eyes are big and bright. After looking at them, I just want to say: "How can the horses be made so lifelike, just like alive!" At that time, the hierarchy was clear. For example, the chairman of the company traveled in a 6-horse car, so these two special cars were actually just part of Comrade Ying Zheng's royal fleet, not his own.
The No. 2 bronze chariot is a two-compartment chariot in today's terms. The front compartment is small and is the driver's seat, while the rear compartment is spacious and is for passengers. It is a high-end model with three windows, which can be pulled like the windows of today. Opening the windows will keep you cool, and closing them will keep you warm. It is also called a chariot. Comrade Ying Zheng was taken back to Xianyang, the headquarters of the Qin Company, when he traveled to the great rivers and mountains of the motherland for the last time and died of illness. The driver of this car is sitting on his knees, which is quite difficult to hold. Although he is not as tall as his colleagues in the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Pit, his calm expression makes the terracotta figurines in this position vivid.
