As a free museum, it is unrealistic to expect it to give you many surprises. Just wander around. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda is also next to the museum, so it is best to go together. The outside of the museum is similar to a park, and the collections inside are not that many. It is not as much as the tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands as advertised, but there are still thousands.

It was a pity that I didn’t visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum during my visit to Xi’an, but there were some good things there.

The super cute things I saw were mini versions of ancient utensils, such as beds, cabinets, and stoves. They looked like toys for playing house, but each one was cooked in a unique way.

The colorful "fake smile" men and horses are also very good-looking.

There is another one, I really don’t know if its birth is a joke. It is a small hand-molded figurine, as big as a thumb, just like the fighting figures made by children with plasticine. It is so cute.

If you walk straight ahead from the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, you will find the Xi'an Museum on your right hand side. Compared with the famous Shaanxi History Museum which has many visitors, the Xi'an Museum is more like a niche attraction abandoned by tourists. Even on weekends, there are not many people here. You can get a ticket from the Small Wild Goose Pagoda gate and enter the museum without even getting a ticket or going through security check.

The museum has an area themed on "Ancient Capital Xi'an", which displays the territorial changes, urban construction and daily life of the ancient Chang'an people in this thousand-year-old capital throughout the dynasties. It is indeed a very good place to understand Xi'an.

By Bei Xiaoxian |

The museum is located in the Xiaoyan Pagoda scenic area, and is famous for combining the millennium ancient pagoda garden with a modern historical museum. The Xiaoyan Pagoda is the largest cultural relic in the Xi'an Museum's collection, and is one of the best in China.

In the middle of the underground floor is a neat and grand model of the ancient Chang'an City. Surrounding it, you can feel the prosperity and strength of the Tang Dynasty, and get a glimpse of how magnificent and majestic Chang'an City was at that time, as the center of the world.

By Scholar's spirit |

The Xi'an Museum has three floors in total. On the ground floor of the underground patio is a topographic map of Xi'an.

Sima Xiangru, a writer of the Western Han Dynasty, wrote in his famous poem Shanglinfu that "eight rivers flow in opposite directions and in different shapes", describing the magnificent beauty of Shanglin Garden in the Han Dynasty. From then on, there was a saying that "Eight rivers surround Chang'an". The eight rivers surrounding Chang'an refer to the Wei, Jing, Feng, Lao, Fu, He, Chan and Ba rivers, which flow around Xi'an and belong to the Yellow River system.

It is famous for its precious cultural relics, the thousand-year-old tower of the Tang Dynasty, the melodious morning bell of the Wild Goose Pagoda, and the beautiful garden landscape.

Xi'an Museum and Small Wild Goose Pagoda are located in the same area. You can enter from the west entrance to visit Xi'an Museum first, then visit counterclockwise, and finally exit from the north gate. Xi'an Museum certainly does not have the famous Shaanxi History Museum in terms of collections, but it is quieter and has fewer tourists.

By China-TravelNote WP5011 |

When I was making the plan, I carefully marked the closed days on Mondays, but I was still stupid enough to schedule the Shaanxi Museum on Monday. So I had to change the itinerary temporarily, inserting the Xi'an Museum and giving up the plan for Furong Garden.

I regretted it afterwards. I should have watched a movie in the hotel that day. If you go there by accident, you can just treat it as knowledge preparation before going to Shaanxi Museum like we did. The environment of this museum is pretty good. We still choose manual explanation, 100 yuan/10 people, 200 yuan deposit for each person to buy a Bluetooth headset. As long as the guide speaks softly, we can hear it clearly. However, when we went to Shaanxi History Museum later, some of the explanations were inconsistent. I was mainly worried that my child would receive the wrong knowledge transmission. It would be better not to listen.

Xi'an Museum includes the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Jianfu Temple and the Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall. The Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall of Xi'an Museum is located on the southwest side of Jianfu Temple. Compared with the Shaanxi History Museum, it is simply a paradise. There are not many tourists visiting, especially the exhibition room on the first basement floor is almost empty. The feeling of booking the whole place is simply too cool!

Most importantly it's free!!!

By Caterpillar |

It is in the same place as the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. There are not many exhibits, so there is no need to go there specifically to visit.

Although it is not as spectacular as the Shaanxi Museum, it also has many historical relics. If you have enough time, it is worth a visit. It is next to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda.

The children were not able to go to the Shaanxi History Museum, so they went to the Xi'an Museum. This place is collectively called the Xi'an Museum, which includes the Xi'an Museum, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and the Jianfu Temple. There are many cultural relics in Xi'an. The history of the ancient capital of 13 dynasties has left us countless treasures. Although the Xi'an Museum is not as grand as the Shaanxi History Museum, it cleverly integrates Xi'an culture, gardens and temples.

By Lovely mom |

Compared to the crowded Shaanxi History Museum the day before, the Xi'an Museum today was deserted. No queues, just show your ID card to get the ticket. A perfect experience, quiet and peaceful. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda is inside, also free. There is a folk experience when you come out of the exit, where you can watch shadow play. 30 per ticket.

Located in the southern part of Xi'an, within the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area, it has a construction area of 16,000 square meters and houses 130,000 cultural relics, including 14,400 precious cultural relics of national level 3 or above.

By Waiting for you in the distance |

The Xi'an Museum in the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area is also very large, with various terracotta warriors and horses on the underground floor.

By Sitting Alone in Bixi |

The exhibits are quite rich, especially in the Baoxiang Zhuangyan exhibition hall, where the statues and steles collected are not inferior to a small cave in terms of quantity and quality.

By Perfume |

The Xi'an Museum is a municipal museum. Its scale and exhibits cannot be compared with the national-level Shaanxi History Museum. However, since I don’t have time to go to the Shaanxi History Museum, the trip to the Xi’an Museum is a start for me to understand the history of Xi’an and its collection of antiquities.

The museum's architecture is based on the concept of "round sky and square earth" and was designed by the famous architect Ms. Zhang Jinqiu.

The exquisite gold ornaments made in the Tang Dynasty are truly admirable as the craftsmanship had reached such a high level thousands of years ago.

The Begonia-shaped silver long cup with Capricorn pattern is from the Tang Dynasty and is a collection of treasures. Relevant introductions can be found on the website of the Xi'an Museum. I also found it when I was looking for information for my travel notes. I took the photo of it purely because of its exquisite patterns and design.

The Warring States chime bells made of bronze are large percussion instruments that have been seen in many costume movies and TV series. They flourished in the Xia Dynasty, were popular during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, and continued until the Qin and Han Dynasties.

The wine vessel/glass used by the aristocratic class that appears most frequently in costume dramas: the jug.

When talking about Tang Sancai, it is necessary to mention that Sancai does not refer to painting using only three colors. "Three" only represents the three main colors: yellow, green, and brown or green, ochre, and blue.

There are many different kinds of tri-color beasts on display here. They are usually placed in tombs to act as guardians that drive away evil spirits and protect the soul of the tomb owner.

There are many people who come here to paint and sketch.

Compared with the Qin terracotta warriors, the unearthed Han Dynasty warriors are small and exquisite: their body height has been greatly reduced, but their artistic modeling has been greatly improved, and their facial contours, facial features, expressions, etc. are more delicate.

The naked Han Dynasty figurines are the highest level among the Han Dynasty pottery figurines. They are dressed in various kinds of clothes, and their hands are movable, but because their arms are made of wood and the clothes on their bodies have decayed due to age. The naked Han Dynasty figurines also reflect the physiological characteristics of gender.

I originally thought that I would not like to visit history museums, so I was not particularly disappointed when I missed the Shaanxi History Museum due to lack of time two days ago. However, after visiting the Xi'an Museum, I became more and more interested in history and cultural relics. Next time I come to Xi'an, I must not miss the Shaanxi History Museum, and I will even include other museums in Xi'an in my itinerary. The history of the ancient capital of Xi'an is so rich in cultural heritage and so attractive.

By LAMHIUFOON |

Although it is not as famous as Shaanxi Museum, after taking a walk around I think it is still worth a visit.

By xiaofuli |

It is very convenient to enter the museum, just bring your ID card, and the Small Wild Goose Pagoda is also in the courtyard. I am a person who has no resistance to museums. I really like to visit museums, especially pottery, porcelain, and jade from various dynasties. Therefore, I forgot the time as soon as I entered. The museum is not very big and can be visited in a few hours. Forgive me for trying to get the tour guide and listen to the explanations. The content is very valuable and I have learned a lot.

By A strong cat |

A place that has been overshadowed by Shaanxi Museum. With the blessing of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, there are still some things to see.

By Junjun |

The Xi'an Museum and the Small Wild Goose Pagoda of Xi'an are in the same garden. There are many interesting collections. You can visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda while visiting the Xi'an Museum.

By Yasmine Lotus Flower Deep |

It is connected to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, and usually the two places are visited together. Free does not include free tickets, and you need to use your ID card to get the ticket at the entrance. The Xi'an Museum mainly displays the historical evolution of the city of Xi'an. When I went there, I happened to meet a local school organizing elementary school students to visit.

By Yier |

Xi'an Museum has three main exhibition areas: ceramic sculptures, calligraphy and painting, and Buddha statues.

The whole visit takes more than two hours, but it is much quieter than the Shaanxi History Museum, and there are not many people.

By Tang Yan |

The Small Wild Goose Pagoda is one of them. Although the collection of cultural relics is not large, there are few people, so you can appreciate them carefully. The underground floor introduces the past and present of Xi'an in detail, and there is a large model of Chang'an City.

By Wang Liangji |

Compared with the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, this city-level museum is a little small. But it cannot hide its highlights. This museum introduces the historical development of Xi'an more fully and comprehensively. If you want to learn more about the history of Xi'an, you can come and have a look. Next to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, you can visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda together.

By The Travels of a Dirt-Eating Girl |

The Xi'an Museum happened to coincide with the students' autumn outing, so there were a lot of people. The exhibition hall is still worth a visit. After all, here you can look at the cultural relics in a more leisurely manner. There were too many people at the Provincial Museum, and it was impossible to get to the front of the exhibition booth.

By imyee |

The exhibits in Xi'an Museum are not as many as those in Shaanxi Museum, but there is a small wild goose pagoda inside.

There are fewer visitors here.

By ella_oct |

There are fewer people than Shaanxi Museum, and the comfort level is much better. There are also free tours, but they are limited to Monday to Friday.

By Drink tea and eat a pack |

In fact, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and the Xi'an Museum are in the same park. The Xi'an Museum is free but not ticket-free. There is a ticket office on the left side of the main entrance of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. You can get the tickets with your ID card. The museum divides the exhibition halls by theme, and some treasures are sent to the Shaanxi Museum for exhibition. P.S.: There are also exhibition halls on the underground floor!! The Xi'an Museum is still very lovely, and I want to take away the IP paper water cup. Although there are relatively few treasures in the museum, the basic popular education is really well done, so that even laymen can see the doorway.

By Pancakes |

As a municipal museum, it should be considered very large.

My daughter and I discovered a new way to play, making emoticons in the museum, haha.

By The Beef Couple's Escape |

Although the exhibits in the Xi'an Museum are not as many as those in the Shaanxi History Museum, they are still excellent.

But my favorite is the restored sand table of Tang Chang'an, where the prosperous scene of the Tang Dynasty can be clearly seen.

By Zheng Sanding |

Xi'an Museum is a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The first floor is the Daqiao Art Exhibition Hall, the second floor is the Jade Exhibition Hall and the underground floor is the Imperial Exhibition Hall. There is a road in the park that leads directly to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. The total visiting time is two to four hours. You can get a free ticket to the park with your ID card. The nearest subway station is Nanshaomen Station (Exit A) on Line 2. There are also bus lines 21... and many other buses to get there. I took bus No. 7 from Xi'an Railway Station to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Station.

In China, if you like history, you can’t miss Xi’an;

In Xi'an, if you like history, you can't miss the Shaanxi Museum.

Shaanxi History Museum, a museum that houses several ups and downs of history. Walking from one exhibition area to another is like walking from one dynasty to another.

The biggest advantage of living near the train station is the convenient transportation. To go to Shaanxi Museum, you can take bus No. 6, No. 8, No. 5 and No. 30. All four of these buses can be taken on Jiefang Road. Jiefang Road is a north-south road directly opposite the train station. There are bus stops every few steps. The bus stops for No. 5 and No. 30 are near the train station. There are so many people at the train station early in the morning...

I took bus No. 5 and got off at Cuihua Road, then continued walking in the direction I got off. After a crossroads, I arrived at Shaanxi Museum.

Shaanxi Museum does not charge admission, but it is not free, you still need to show your ID card to get the ticket. But...if you go late, you will see a long line...Shaanxi Museum is the museum with the most people I have ever been to! !

Although Xi'an Museum is not as famous as Shaanxi History Museum, it also has many fine works. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda is located in Xi'an Museum. The scenic spot is free, and you can exchange your ID card for a ticket.

By A Little Star |

There weren't many people inside, and there was no queue for tickets. It was much less crowded than the popular Chengdu Museum.

We visited the exhibition halls on the first floor and the basement floor, and our feet were a little sore. For a museum fanatic like me, I can only say that the collections are quite rich, but the characteristics are not very clear.

By AC |

Xi'an Museum is located in the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area and consists of three floors, two upper floors and one lower floor. It is rich in things and worth a visit.

By Ordinary Mind |

There are many treasures inside. I remember that after visiting the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, I didn't walk far and came to the Xi'an Museum.

By Small tank |

It is not as popular as the Shaanxi Museum. The exhibition hall is only two floors, but there are still some fine products.

By Sunshine |

Advantages: It is free during the National Day and you don't have to queue up. You can get a ticket with your ID card. There are ponds and bridges in the courtyard, gray magpies and turtledoves, you can sit down and watch the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, there are graphic introductions to the evolution of the ancient capital, and a relatively large sand table to restore the ancient Chang'an

By Song star✨Showman |

After taking a look around, I think those who don’t have enough time don’t have to come here.

By Luo Xiaoyu_Raining |

Xi'an Museum is right next to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. You can see it by walking along the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. There is a huge ancient map on the ground on the first floor.

By Say something to yourself |

It is very close to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and can be visited together. The exhibits are definitely not as rich as those of the Shaanxi History Museum, mainly Tang Sancai. There were two power outages during the visit, which is not right.

By chibisam |

Unexpectedly, the Xi'an Museum, which I just wanted to stroll around, turned out to be an unexpected gain in this trip! Although it is not as large as the Shaanxi Museum and has not as many collections, it also has many super interesting collections~~ A person who just said that he had no interest in historical relics was immediately slapped in the face here! Maybe it was because I was attracted by the many interesting and beautiful artworks in the collection, maybe it was because I was laughed at by the portraits of various celebrity faces, or maybe it was because I was infected by the scenes of foreigners who were taking pictures and listening to the explanations seriously, who were more than Chinese people here. In short, this museum was immune to the aliens. This trip suddenly started to take all kinds of photos and record videos. . I have been to many museums in Beijing. . This is the first time I feel that museums are so interesting! Xi'an Museum is the best! !

By Suzhou Xiaorehen |

Although the Xi'an Museum is a municipal museum and has a level difference from the national museum Shaanxi History Museum, it is the best medium to understand the city of Xi'an. The Xi'an Museum has three exhibition halls and collects more than 130,000 cultural relics. It should be said that the Small Wild Goose Pagoda is the largest cultural relic in the Xi'an Museum. The predecessor of the museum was a protection center built to protect the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, and its symbol is the shape of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. In addition to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, the gilded Amitabha Buddha statue made by Dong Qin in the fourth year of Kaihuang, the Qin Dynasty jade high-footed cup, and the Tang Dynasty tri-color flying horse can also be regarded as the treasures of the town. It took two hours to complete the tour of the Xi'an Museum. Before leaving, I watched a film introducing the Small Wild Goose Pagoda of Jianfu Temple in the Phantom Imaging Theater at the door. It felt very fulfilling.

By Martian User |

In the Xiaoyan Pagoda Jianfu Temple scenic area, there are far fewer people than in the Shaanxi History Museum. It is an exaggeration to call it a museum. There is no need to queue up during the summer vacation. The exhibition hall is quite large, with three floors. On hot days, many exhibition halls do not have air conditioning.

By Fulmoding |

It is a good attraction that is easily overlooked by tourists. The Xi'an Museum is right next to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. The statues of various dynasties inside are classics! Recommended!

By DMG Dog |

It was 9 o'clock in the morning. Compared with the Shaanxi History Museum, where the queue was a long street, the Xi'an Museum seemed unusually deserted. The museum is not big and there are not many venues, but there was a temporary tour at the time, and I was lucky enough to see the red gold dragon. You must make a reservation in advance. Go to the Shaanxi History Museum, everyone, it's heartbreaking! Although the collections of the Xi'an Museum are not bad, compared with the countless classic collections of the Shaanxi Museum, it's really... (Yes, regrets are really irreparable)

By Princess Xin-Nishen |

We visited the layout of the ancient capital of Xi’an on the underground floor. From the original planning we can see that Chang’an at that time was still very spectacular and prosperous.

By rein |

I read in the introduction before that there are few people here but the exhibits are relatively rich. When I arrived, I found that there are quite a lot of people. Maybe it was because the Shaanxi Museum was closed on Monday, so some people came here. However, the exhibits are still quite rich, mainly cultural relics unearthed in Xi'an. Judging from the unearthed sites, it is possible to discover cultural relics by digging in Xi'an.

By smoke color order |

Xi'an Museum refreshed my understanding of museums. It is not so dull and old-fashioned, and feels like an open garden. The collections are not as rich as those of Shaanxi History Museum, but they are all very distinctive, and there is also a restored map of the ancient Chang'an City, which is worth a visit.

By Milan by night |

The Xi'an Museum is behind the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, and it has been merged into one scenic spot. It only charges tickets, and is a conscientious scenic spot.

By Winter Buds |

Xi'an Museum is inside the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, and tickets are free. Since I'm here, I'll go in and take a look. This tour made me appreciate the wisdom and craftsmanship of our ancestors, and made me look forward to going to Shaanxi Museum.

By See the world in books |

I didn't expect there is such a rich museum next to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. It's really good.

By eugen |

The Xi'an Museum is connected to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. It is very large and free to visit. There are many foreign tourists in the museum.

The main building of the Xi'an Museum was designed by Zhang Jinqiu. As always, there is no air conditioning inside. The entire building relies on some temporarily installed air-conditioning fans and blowers. It is very hot, which affects the viewing of the exhibition.

There are actually quite a few things to see in the exhibits, and the categories are similar to those of the Shaanxi History Museum, but the quality is slightly lower. There is also an exhibition on the history of the founding of Xi'an, which is quite worth seeing.

The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was a big surprise. It has preserved more ancient buildings than the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is simple and quiet. When we went there, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda was under maintenance and we couldn’t climb up the tower.

By Landscape under the sun |

I came to see the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. The weather was too hot, so I wanted to walk around the Xi'an Museum first and wait until the sun was setting before coming out. But I couldn't bear to turn on the air conditioner in this museum. I didn't expect it. This time, from Qufu to Jinan to Anyang to Taiyuan to Xi'an, Xi'an was the hottest. I visited Shandong Museum, Yinxu Museum, and Shanxi Museum all the way, and I felt good. But the experience of this Xi'an Museum was too bad, and I was sweating profusely. Xi'an was also congested. It was so hot that even the experienced driver got road rage.

The exhibition content is OK, with the historical development of Xi'an as the main line, and the main content is on the underground floor. If the weather is not hot, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda is still worth a closer look.

By China-TravelNote users |

It was super hot and stuffy! The air conditioner seemed to be on, but the temperature was set high. It was said that the boss was worried that tourists would come in to escape the heat. The tourists were sweating and standing in front of the fan to get some air. We didn't see any cultural relics because the children were young and the museum was too stuffy. We were worried that they would faint.

*Service* It is recommended to hire a tour guide. My friend and others joined a group and finally listened to the tour for free. The explanation was very detailed ~ The tour guide worked very hard ~

*Tickets* You can get free tickets with your ID card, and there aren’t many people.

*Exhibits* There are not many exhibits, but there is a miniature model of the Tang Dynasty that shows the historical changes of Xi'an, which is very good~

There are many treasures dug out from ancient tombs underground. The entire museum is not air-conditioned, but the yin energy is so heavy~

Be sure to hire a guide when you come here~ The price is about 100 yuan, don't save this money!

Xi'an City Museum is a place where you can learn about the history of Xi'an.

The museum is quite large, but compared with museums in other cities, the focus is on ancient times, and there is no modern content.

There are three floors in total, two above ground and one underground.

The hall is circular, with a map of ancient and modern Chang'an made of marble and tiles in the middle, which is very interesting. The smallest part in the middle is Xi'an in the Ming and Qing Dynasties; the dark red one is Chang'an in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, which is the largest; the dark gray one in the upper left corner is Chang'an in the Han Dynasty; and the khaki one in the upper left corner is Xianyang in the Qin Dynasty.

The exhibition hall in the middle of the underground floor is "Ancient Capital of Xi'an, Thousand-Year-Old Capital". The exhibition hall in the middle is circular and contains a large map of Chang'an in the Tang Dynasty.

The exhibition hall next to it is "Ancient Capital Xi'an, Imperial Capital of All Things", which displays some cultural relics unearthed in Xi'an and its surrounding areas. There are much fewer people visiting here than the Shaanxi History Museum, so you can take your time to appreciate it. If it is your first time to Xi'an, it is actually recommended to visit the Shaanxi Museum first, and if you have enough time, then visit the Xi'an Museum.

One of the three treasures of the Xibo Museum is the three-color flying horse, which is the prototype of the sculpture at the entrance. The horse is fat and round, and the rider is a foreigner, which shows that Chang'an in the Tang Dynasty was an international metropolis.

The exhibition hall on the first floor is "Majestic Precious Appearances - Exhibition of Buddhist Sculpture Art". As the name suggests, all the exhibits here are Buddha statues.

Originally, there should be one of the three most treasured treasures of the Western Museum here, the Amitabha statue made by Dong Qin in the fourth year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty, but it is not in the exhibition hall and should be on display outside.

Compared to Shaanxi Museum, it is quite quiet, together with the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, free but not free tickets, there is also free purified water inside, a good place

There are many collections and they are very characteristic of dynasties. I like the city simulation map inside. It is a small but exquisite museum.

You can get a ticket and go through security check at the museum with your ID card. You can leave your large bag at the ticket counter and small bags in the lockers in the museum lobby. The museum provides free drinking water. The museum has three floors and is of average size. There are not many rare treasures. A rough visit takes about 2 hours.

Xi'an Museum is located in the Small Wild Goose Pagoda Scenic Area. You can visit it for free by exchanging your ID card for a ticket. It costs 30 yuan to rent an electronic guide. Not many people visit the museum, and the visiting experience is better than that of the Shaanxi History Museum.

Having been to the Nanjing Museum, I wanted to visit the Xi'an Museum when I arrived in Xi'an. The Xi'an Museum is not big, and is located next to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. Tickets are free, and there are not as many people as the Shaanxi History Museum, but I think it is also worth a visit.

The Small Wild Goose Pagoda is not located next to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. There is a fountain show at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. There is a subway station at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, but there is no subway station at the Small Wild Goose Pagoda.

On the basement floor of the Xi'an Museum is a large model of ancient Chang'an, which is worth seeing.
