Badaguan

Badaguan refers to eight roads named after the eight passes of the Great Wall (now increased to ten). Because the pass is home to villas in architectural styles of more than 20 countries including Russia, Britain, France, Germany, and Malaysia, it is known as the "International Architecture Expo".
The most famous ones are Huashi Tower and Princess Tower in Guannei, with unique architectural styles. Tickets are required and they are must-visit places.
In addition to admiring the buildings, you can also enjoy the four-season beauty of Badaguan. Shaoguan Road is planted with peach trees that bloom in spring; Zhengyangguan Road is planted with crape myrtles that bloom in summer; Juyongguan Road is covered with maples that turn red in autumn; and Zijingguan Road is lined with rows of cedars that are evergreen all year round.

The first five-star attraction in Qingdao, with rich scenery. There are quiet small western-style buildings and avenues of sycamore trees or pine trees near Jiayuguan and Hanguguan Road. The green park already has some breath of spring. Although there are not many flowers in bloom, the design is relatively small, with a Jiangnan garden style.

Further along the beach is the Second Bathing Beach. Although the photos don’t look very good these days due to the haze, you can imagine what it will look like when the weather is fine. There is also a row of blue houses, which are mainly changing rooms prepared for going to the beach. It must be a background that girls who love to take beautiful photos cannot miss!

You can walk all the way to Taiping Cape and May Fourth Square along the coastal plank road. The plank road facilities are well-built. If you are tired along the way, you can find a cafe to rest at will. It is very comfortable.

Badaguan in winter.

It's foggy today, cloudy, and a bit cold~

Coming from one colonial city to another, I have to say that the Germans built Qingdao in a foreign and lovely way. Different from the solemnity and grandeur of the Five Avenues, the buildings of Badaguan under the shade of green trees are playful and fairy-tale-like. The cedar on Zijingshan Road is the city tree of Qingdao. The word "qing" in Qingdao is taken from the evergreen cedar (I learned it from the tour guide). Huashilou was originally the official residence of a German couple and later became the former residence of Chiang Kai-shek. Chiang Kai-shek was really good at choosing places. Huashilou is very close to the beach. Even in winter, it is surrounded by green grass and humid air. It feels very much like the south. The ups and downs of the road give people a feeling of Lushan. The cedars in Badaguan are very green and the sycamores are very thick. It must be more beautiful if you come in spring or autumn.

Badaguan refers to eight roads named after the eight passes of the Great Wall. This is the best example of Qingdao's characteristics of "red tiles, green trees, blue sea and blue sky". Villas with architectural styles from more than 20 countries, including China, Britain, France, Germany, the United States, Japan and Denmark, are concentrated inside the pass, and it is known as the "International Architecture Expo". The most famous ones are the "Princess Building" and the "Flower and Stone Building". Different trees are planted on these eight roads, such as the peach trees on Shaoguan Road in spring, the crape myrtles on Zhengyangguan Road in summer, and the ginkgo trees on Juyongguan Road in autumn.

Badaguan is the most famous scenic spot in Qingdao. It was named so mainly because there are eight roads here (now increased to ten), and there are many villas with different architectural styles, similar to the Five Avenues in Tianjin, but the architectural styles are more diverse and older. It is also a local wedding photography location in Qingdao. You can encounter many of them when you go there. The scenery is very beautiful when you come at sunset. Unfortunately, many villas open to the public have been closed at this time, but just strolling in the street view of Badaguan, the scenery is already very beautiful. Many of the villas are not open to the public, but outside each villa there is a narration sign about the history of the building, which allows the viewer to understand the history of the building at a glance. It is very humane.

From a distance, the road here is undulating and interconnected, which is very distinctive. In this season, the trees on both sides of the road are all green, but flowers of various colors are mixed in, which is full of lively vitality and unique flavor.

Walk slowly and savor the scenery carefully. This kind of road will give people the illusion of being in a foreign country.

There are many Western-style buildings in the Badaguan scenic area, such as the Princess Building, the Flower and Stone Building...

The green trees, mostly ginkgo and sycamore trees, are in full bloom, and crape myrtles can be seen everywhere, making this environment particularly elegant and quiet. The highlight is the villa complex with architectural styles from various countries, a real retro literary style. Moreover, Badaguan is right by the sea. Climbing up and looking out, this is the legendary Qingdao with "red tiles, green trees, blue sea and blue sky".

The magical tree of the plane tree really has an artistic aura. No matter where you are, if the plane trees are planted on both sides of the road, the road will obviously have a temperament: elegant, retro, and filled with a touch of artistic atmosphere. However, there are more tourists during the National Day holiday, and it is really hard to wait for an empty shot.

Most of the buildings in Badaguan are independent garden houses. Of course, these houses are modern buildings with European style. The inner courtyard of Badaguan is deep and peaceful. The buildings with different styles are like a half-hidden lute in the shade of stone walls of different heights and flowers and trees. The most famous buildings in Badaguan are the Princess Building and the Flower and Stone Building.

Badaguan is a famous tourist attraction in Qingdao. Many celebrities once lived there, and it is also the filming location for many TV series, such as "The Best of Us".

Badaguan is quite nice to visit and is also suitable for taking photos. If you just visit, you don't need a ticket. You need a ticket to enter the Huashi Tower, Princess Tower and other buildings. There are many tourists queuing to enter these buildings.

By Amazing |

The Badaguan Scenic Area is actually a large area, located between the First Bath and the Third Bath, known as the International Architecture Expo. The number of parking spaces inside Badaguan is average, and the road conditions are complicated. It is recommended that friends who are not familiar with it do not drive there rashly.

Try to arrange the time to go to Badaguan to enjoy the autumn in November. If you go too early, the leaves will be green and it will be a wasted trip. The ginkgo leaves are basically located on Juyongguan Road, but you must be prepared for a lot of people. It's okay to simply appreciate them. If you take photos, tourists will become the protagonists. The streets of Badaguan are full of many European classical buildings. The yellow walls are the main color of Badaguan, matched with granite columns or wall skirts. The color matching is relatively elegant and does not steal the limelight from the plants at all. There are large lawns everywhere in the block. The low volume ratio and high greening rate are definitely the best in Qingdao. Entering Badaguan from Hong Kong West Road, it starts with evergreen plants such as pine and cypress, so there are not many tourists. The yellow leaves on Hanguguan Road and Jiayuguan Road are mainly sycamore trees. If you want to take pictures of fallen leaves, it's best to come early in the morning. The fallen leaves overnight, plus no one trampling on them, and no one cleaning them up, can definitely take good photos. Go south along Shaoguan Road and cross Zhengyangguan Road to Ginkgo Avenue Juyongguan Road. The buildings on Shaoguan Road are quite unique, and I suggest you go and have a look if you are interested. Ginkgo Avenue is quite spectacular, especially when it is windy, the leaves fall like rain of petals. Putting aside the overcrowding, the autumn in Badaguan is still very stunning.

Badaguan is famous for its unique architectural style and historical culture. There are many representative Western-style buildings here, such as Huashi Building, Princess Building, Butterfly Building, etc. Visitors can appreciate different architectural styles and cultural atmospheres here, and also feel the unique cultural heritage of Qingdao.

Tour sequence: It is recommended that tourists first go to Huashilou, a castle-like building that integrates Western architectural art styles and is also one of the iconic attractions of Badaguan. Then you can go to Princess Building, a small Western-style building with a Nordic style. Legend has it that it was once the place where the Danish princess came to Qingdao to escape the summer heat. Finally, you can go to Butterfly Building, an eclectic villa, which was the filming location of the sensational 1935 movie "The Peach Blossom After the Robbery".

Special activities: There are many restaurants and snack stands around Badaguan, where you can taste a variety of seafood delicacies and local specialties.

Transportation: It is very convenient to reach Badaguan by bus or subway from the city center. Driving is also an option, but you need to pay attention to traffic congestion and parking issues.

Note: When visiting Badaguan, you need to pay attention to safety, especially when visiting ancient buildings, you must comply with safety regulations and warning signs. At the same time, you must keep the environment clean, abide by public order, and do not litter at will.

Surrounding attractions: There are many other attractions to visit in Qingdao, such as May Fourth Square, Zhanqiao, Underwater World, etc. You can arrange your time reasonably and try to experience as many characteristic attractions and culture of Qingdao as possible.

Badaguan is one of the first famous historical and cultural streets in China and one of the main scenic spots in Qingdao. It is located in the coastal area of Shinan District, from the first bathing beach in the west to the third bathing beach in the east. There are many European classical buildings in between, a few of which were built during the German rule from 1897 to 1914, and most of them were completed in the Republic of China in the 1930s. From 1931 to 1937, when Shen Honglie was the mayor of Qingdao, he planned the nearly 1,000-acre area east of Rongcheng Road, north to Zhanshan Road, and south to Taiping Bay as the "Specially Specified Construction Land East of Rongcheng Road", requiring the building density to be below 50%, protecting green space, and using open walls, etc.

By Lone Blind |

There are too many European-style buildings to see, and except for a few paid attractions, there are not many tourists (we went there during the summer vacation of 2023). The downside is that none of those buildings are allowed to enter, and the introduction at the door is also very simple. However, we still shamelessly broke into a few buildings to secretly watch

When traveling in Qingdao, you must check in at Badaguan. As for how to play, there is no fixed plan. In order to avoid the crowd, I decided to get up early, but my "pig teammate Miao" was slow to get up and have breakfast, so I arrived before 9 o'clock.

In order to avoid the crowds, I have mapped out a reverse direction for your reference. Take a taxi and locate the route to Donghai Hotel - Huiquan Road - Shanhaiguan Road - Zhengyangguan Branch Road - Gongzhu Building - Shaoguan Road - Huashi Building.

If you want to check in at the Princess Tower and the Flower and Stone Tower, you must go back, but I coveted the beauty of Shaoguan Road, so I took a detour and walked a little further back and forth. However, the road signs in Badaguan are very clear and not difficult to find. You can choose according to your own preferences.

The so-called Badaguan means there are eight pass roads, but two more were added later. Architectural styles from various countries are gathered here, so it is known as the "International Architecture Expo".

By Afterglow |

The Badaguan scenic area is named after eight roads named after ancient passes. It is mainly a residential area for villas. There are many buildings of different national styles that are of a certain age. The famous ones are Huashi Building, Princess Building, Marshal Building, etc. Different trees are planted on different roads, and the colors are colorful during the flowering season. Now it has become a famous place for wedding photography. The second bathing beach is on the sea side of Badaguan, which is basically an open bathing beach. Many local residents go here to swim. In general, Badaguan is dominated by natural landscapes, supplemented by buildings of different styles. Students who are interested in architecture can visit it.

By ying |

There are eight roads named after various "passes", and the pine trees on both sides of the road are arranged in an orderly manner, which is very solemn. The "Huashilou" near the sea is where Chiang Kai-shek lived. This is the smallest and most tasteless place I have ever seen among the many places where Chiang Kai-shek lived. However, there are many miniature landscapes installed in the yard. The Leaning Tower of Pisa, festive Chinese knots, wedding rings, a big accordion... It is quite interesting to take pictures. The ticket here is 8.5 yuan per ticket, and people over 60 years old can get free tickets.

By Playing around |

The city is mainly composed of modern European-style buildings and is known as the "International Architecture Expo". The eight main streets are named after important passes in my country, so they are called the "Eight Great Passes" (later increased to ten). The trees on the streets vary from street to street, which complement the various buildings.

By Horses trample on Donghu |

This attraction is similar to Tianjin's Wudadao. It is called "Badaguan" because 8 of the streets are named after important passes in my country. There are buildings in styles of many countries, most of which are independent European-style villas.

There are also many wedding photographers who come here to shoot outdoor scenes. It seems that the white wedding dresses are not very clean. They must be rented. There is a beach in the south of the scenic area. I think it must be very lively here during the peak season for going to the beach. I didn’t catch it this time. There are also people shooting outdoor scenes on the beach here, but the white sky is really not good.

You can rent a mountain bike at the rental point in the picture below and ride on the road. Most of the intersections have traffic lights, which is different from the Fifth Avenue. The road conditions are slightly steeper and there are a few tourists. You can ride a bike when there are not many tourists. When I rode to the Princess Building, I saw a guy wearing a puppet costume who cheated tourists to take pictures and collect money. Please pay attention. The rental fee is a bit expensive, but it doesn't matter if the time exceeds one hour. This rental point collects a deposit and ID card but no receipt, but the credibility is not a problem.

In the past, many courtyards where foreigners lived were not private places, or you had to pay to sit there... It was a wealthy area in the past. I don't understand why so many people are watching it. I guess they are from tour groups, because this kind of attraction is free.

Badaguan Scenic Area is a famous tourist attraction in Qingdao. It has a variety of architectural complexes, and the most famous ones are Huashi Tower, Hudie Tower, and Gongzhu Tower. To be honest, it is really hard to walk around here. Thanks to the navigation, you won't get lost in these crisscrossing streets. The four-attraction pass including the Spanish Style Pavilion costs 50 yuan. Not many tourists actually go in. Maybe they are satisfied with the appearance like me, and don't agree with the cost-effectiveness of this ticket price. There are also some views along the street. If you are good at discovering, you can definitely capture them.

By The Traveler's Secret |

Badaguan got its name because there were originally eight roads here, named after the famous pass of the ancient Great Wall of China. Now there are ten roads, which are staggered to form a grid-like road area. It is also famous for its houses and beautiful scenery. The blue sky, green trees, green tiles and red walls are what we are talking about here. This place brings together architectural styles from various countries, and the greening of the streets is also very well done. It can be said that this is a photo-taking resort. Basically, you can see people taking wedding photos here every day. It is very close to the trestle and the beach. If you want to take a walk, you can start from Badaguan and walk along the seaside to the trestle and the beach to see the sea, because people in inland areas are more obsessed with the sea than I thought.

I saw many travel notes about Qingdao online, so I changed my schedule temporarily and took time to visit. Badaguan is a very exotic street. I thought I was in Western Europe when I saw it deeply. The classical European and Greek buildings are well preserved. This street belongs to Qingdao's urban memory and has a deep historical sedimentation. People who want to understand the architectural aesthetics and this city can gain a lot. Even ordinary tourists can take a lot of beautiful photos. The scenery changes with every step, and a casual shot will have a high-level artistic sense. If you go to Badaguan, remember to bring water and food with you. I searched for a long time but couldn't find a place to sell water. I would like to recommend a store where I bought souvenirs. It is a store in Taitung called Someone's Specialty Shop. It is the smallest and freshest specialty store I have ever been to. It gives people a very comfortable feeling and is very suitable for a short visit there after traveling. The owner of the store is very nice and introduced me to many things to pay attention to when traveling and the must-see attractions in Qingdao. I bought a lot of donkey-hide gelatin, black garlic and Laoshan green tea for my family, and my family members praised them. The beer cakes and dried seafood are also very delicious. Most importantly, the price is fair and reasonable, and the quality is guaranteed.

Badaguan is composed of eight streets with the word "guan" in their names, including Jiayuguan Road, Zhengyangguan Road, Ningwuguan Road... If you want to go to the Princess Building, Butterfly Building and Rain Stone Building, just navigate to these three buildings on the navigation, otherwise you will keep wandering around in the villa area. The Princess Building, Butterfly Building and Rain Stone Building all require tickets to enter, 20/person. Because it was already past five o'clock when I went there, the ticket sales were stopped and I couldn't go in. I just walked around outside. Badaguan is very suitable for taking pictures, and most of them are former residences of celebrities. Because I didn't go inside, I plan to come again later. After that, I came to Badaguan again. I didn't feel that it took too long to reach Badaguan while walking and playing. I checked in and took pictures everywhere. I still didn't go into the Princess Building that day because there were too many people, and it looked the same from the outside as from the inside (actually my friend stopped me)

The lighting in Badaguan in the evening is very suitable, and all the photos look good.

The Badaguan Scenic Area, with ten quiet and cool roads crisscrossing it, is the most representative scenic area of Qingdao's "red tiles, green trees, blue sea and blue sky". The so-called "Badaguan" is because there are eight roads here (now increased to ten), named after the eight passes of the Great Wall, namely Shaoguan Road, Jiayuguan Road, Hanguguan Road, Zhengyangguan Road, Linhuaiguan Road, Ningwuguan Road, Zijingguan Road, and Juyongguan Road. These ten roads crisscross and form a scenic area of several miles in radius, so they are collectively called "Badaguan".

Put on shoes that are easy to walk in. It is still necessary to walk to visit the Badaguan Scenic Area. The main paid items in the scenic area are the three buildings (Butterfly Building, Flower and Stone Building, and Princess Building). The joint ticket is not expensive. Many historical celebrities, including Chiang Kai-shek, major crews, and the Prince of Denmark have stayed here. Although there are quite a lot of people and it is quite hot, it doesn't hurt to go there. In addition, the streets, sea views, and food in the Badaguan Scenic Area are all great. In addition to the paid items, there are beaches, bathing beaches, and parks in the Badaguan Scenic Area for fun. It is very time-consuming to walk and stop and take pictures. If you walk along the coast, you will need to walk a long way. If it is in the afternoon, you must bring sunscreen.

Badaguan Scenic Area is indeed a good place for leisure, with a nice sea view. It is very pleasant to stroll on the beach and enjoy the autumn breeze.

八大关除了花石楼,公主楼和蝴蝶楼也很美,适合骑着单车走走停停。八大关的别墅群建筑风格各异,真的很适合拍人像照。

This is a place where many people take wedding photos. Vehicles are not allowed to enter. The dense and lush trees and quiet European-style buildings make it a great place for a stroll after dinner.

The roads are named after important passes in our country, and you can feel the weight of history just by looking at the road signs.

A must-go place for wedding photos Many people are suitable for leisure walks

This place is mainly guarded by three buildings, the Flower and Stone Building, the Princess Building, and the Butterfly Building. Later, a Spanish-style pavilion was newly built. You can buy a combined ticket for the four buildings, each with its own characteristics and history.

The four scenic spots in Badaguan are quite distinctive, with beautiful environment and fresh air. The other places may not show the distinct characteristics of the roads due to the season.

In fact, it is not a tourist attraction. It is a residential area, but there are also high-end sanatoriums and offices here. It is very suitable for wedding dresses and street photography. The scenery in the early morning and evening is very good. You can walk directly to the beach. Next to it is the second bathing beach.

It's a very beautiful and quiet place, with beautiful scenery around and a breath of life. I didn't go into the Huashilou and Princess Tower, but they look pretty good from the outside. I heard that the inside is just average.

The Badaguan Scenic Area is also a relatively large area, with paid landscapes as well as free boundless sea and green parks.

Walking through the tree-lined path, you will see another vast world. Climbing to the highest point where the pavilion is located, you can see the long coastline and the sometimes surging and sometimes calm sea water, which is the freshest and most eye-catching afternoon tea set in the afternoon.

The villa area in the shade of trees is suitable for living and vacationing, but ordinary people can't live there. I also met a few fake soldiers with guns who made a living by taking photos with them, but the temperament is too incompatible.

As an architect, I know that this type of villa in the Republic of China has great limitations, but now I am here! The thoughtful developer has prepared a joint ticket for you! The price is 60, and buying a joint ticket can save you the time of queuing up for tickets three times!

To be honest, there is nothing to see in the villa. The trees on the road are lush, which is the taste of summer. Except for some villas developed into tourist attractions, many of them are still inhabited. They are rich but feel quite ordinary. I can peek at some details of their lives.

Recommendation index: four stars

price:

Combined ticket (Princess Building & Butterfly Building & Spanish Style Pavilion)

Adult: 40 yuan/person

Students: 25 yuan/person

Recommended reason: There are many buildings inside, basically for appreciation. The buildings inside are beautiful. It is a good place to take pictures, but there are really a lot of people. How to avoid the crowd and take beautiful pictures is really a difficult task. There is also a very important suggestion. If you are a student, please remember to bring your student ID and ID card. Adults must bring their ID cards when going out!

Compared to the hustle and bustle of business in Xiamen's Gulangyu Island, this place is relatively quiet and simple, more suitable for slow-paced walks and leisurely rest.

Every shot in Badaguan is filled with scenery. There is a reef on the coast near Badaguan, where so many people take wedding photos. You can see ten couples every three steps.

It's probably small houses surrounded by green trees, hahaha. Huashi Building, Princess Building and Butterfly Building are more famous. Tickets are required for these buildings, a few yuan or more than ten yuan. Students can get half price. The second bathhouse is just outside, and it is close to the first bathhouse.

After getting off the bus at the station, I came across this forest. The shadows of the trees were mottled, and everything felt full of vitality. The electric boxes and trash cans on the road were all painted with graffiti of some scenic spots. When you get to Huashilou, you can overlook the blue sea. My God, it is really that intoxicating blue. I love it so much. It is so blue without any color adjustment. You don’t need to hold an umbrella when walking in Badaguan. The trees on both sides of the road are very lush and can provide shade.

This place is specially for taking photos. It would be boring to wander around here. This place is quite large, and the architectural style, flowers, road signs, etc. are really suitable for taking photos. It is recommended for fairies who want to take photos to come here.

Badaguan is named after the eight passes of the Great Wall. To put it simply, it's just a big park next to the sea. Since it's free, don't have too high expectations, otherwise you'll be disappointed. There are people strolling leisurely and taking wedding photos inside. There's nothing to see, because there are plants and various trees, so every season has different scenery. Because it's a self-driving tour, I would complain about one thing: about parking, ⚡ Don't park in the 🅿 parking lot next to (No. 2-26, Taipingjiao 1st Road, see pictures), it's really rip-off, 20 yuan an hour, if you exceed one minute, you have to pay half the price. I parked for one hour and five minutes and was charged 30 yuan, it's really rip-off! Moreover, they also solicit customers, and they will recommend you various one-day tours and tourist projects. I suggest you don't be deceived. If you want to park, go straight for ten meters and there will be another parking lot. It's only 10 yuan per hour. I think it's recommended to drive to visit this scenic spot. If there are not many people, you can also enjoy the view while driving. If you don't park on the roadside for a long time to take pictures, you shouldn't be caught and ticketed. There are also two houses with foreign architectural styles, but there is nothing to see.
