The most famous mountain in China with the longest tourist history. It is the first of the Five Sacred Mountains due to its majestic appearance and is also known as "the first famous mountain in the world".
The mountain is majestic and magnificent, and was regarded by the ancients as a paradise that "leads directly to the throne of the emperor". There are more than 20 ancient building complexes and more than 2,200 steles and stone carvings on the mountain.
Mount Tai is also a holy place for Buddhism and Taoism. Temples and scenic spots of the two religions are scattered all over the mountain, becoming one of the highlights of Mount Tai.

Tianjin to Mount Tai
Time: Two days
Expenses: round trip train ticket 125, tickets: 148, accommodation: 90, meals: 63, jewelry, clothes and shoes: 518
It is recommended to take the train from Tianjin. (K551) Get off at 11:36. The underground shopping mall of Chaoyiku at the railway station has cheap clothes and good quality. The place is also large and suitable for shopping. I personally like the clothes in Huadu. There is a place to store bags near the railway station. Go hiking at about 2 pm. If it is too late and too dark to take photos, you need to bring a jacket, a down jacket, or a coat when you go up the mountain. The weather is just right for hiking. It is about 6 pm when you climb to the top of the mountain. We booked a hotel from Meituan in advance (Jiding Ruyi Hotel). The hotel on the mountain does not feel very clean, but this one is okay. The price is right. The next morning, someone from the hotel will take you to see the sunrise. It is a bit cold to get up early, so wear something thicker (there is no water on the mountain before Qingming Festival). If you have plenty of time, you can go to Daming Lake for a stroll. It takes about half an hour to get from Mount Tai to Daming Lake by train.
I have been talking to two college classmates about climbing Mount Tai for years, but we never made the trip. Finally, we went on a weekend. We climbed up at night for eight hours, stopping and starting. It was really tiring. We saw the sunrise and experienced the Eighteen Bends. I had a good feeling about Tai'an. In addition, the prices of the scenic spots are really cheap, not a rip-off at all. The atmosphere is just like a famous mountain, and the background is full of humanistic spirit.
■Route features: The Taishan Middle Route is the most concentrated classic mountaineering route with the most cultural and natural landscapes on Taishan. It is the essence of Taishan. The whole route is 9.5 kilometers, with more than 7,000 winding steps and almost no flat roads. Because emperors of all dynasties also climbed the mountain from this route, it is also called the Taishan Imperial Road. Along the way, there are tree-lined roads, winding stone steps, peaks and ridges, springs and streams, and the natural landscape is magnificent and beautiful. There are many historical sites along the way, including 8 ancient temples, more than 200 steles, and more than 300 cliff carvings, with a strong traditional cultural flavor.
■How to visit: Walking along the winding stone steps.
■Main attractions: (Dai Temple - Daizong Archway -) Hongmen Palace - Wanxian Tower (ticket place for entering the mountain) - Doumu Palace - Jingshiyu - Hutian Pavilion - Huimaling - Zhongtianmen - Kuaihuo Sanli - Yunbu Bridge - Wudafu Pine - Shibapan - Nantianmen - Tianjie - Bixia Temple - Tang Cliff Inscriptions - Wuyue Duzun - Yuhuangding - Gongbei Stone
■ Tour itinerary:
Start climbing from Hongmen, pass Guandi Temple, Yitianmen, Confucius Denglinfang, Hongmen Palace and other scenic spots, and arrive at the entrance ticket office - Wanxianlou, where you can buy Taishan tickets for 125 yuan. After entering the mountain, walk through Doumu Palace, Jingshiyu, Hutian Pavilion, Huimaling and other scenic spots to reach Zhongtianmen. Zhongtianmen is halfway, you can take a short rest here. If you are physically exhausted, you can transfer to the cable car here to reach the top of Taishan. The cable car costs 100 yuan/one way. Continue to climb up, pass Kuaihuo Sanli, Yunbu Bridge, Wudafusong and other scenic spots, and you will reach the most difficult section of Taishan - Eighteen Bends. Taishan Eighteen Bends is the essence of the essence of the entire scenic area of Taishan. Its magnificent momentum, magnificent and beautiful scenery, and ancient relics will bring you indescribable spiritual shock and make you unforgettable! Climbing to Nantianmen via Eighteen Bends will feel like ascending to heaven and suddenly enlightened. When you get here, you have reached the top of Mount Tai. You can slow down and visit the heavenly street market, Tianjie, go to the Bixia Temple, the temple of the old lady of Mount Tai, to worship and make wishes, and go to the highest point of Mount Tai, Yuhuangding, to feel the majestic momentum of "looking down on all the mountains". After visiting the top of Mount Tai, you can go down the mountain and return the same way.
After getting the ticket and entering the scenic area, my cousin walked with me at first, but then I was left alone. There were not many people on the road, but there were quite a lot of small vendors. I really want to complain here.
1. There are no street lights in the whole mountain. I wonder if this is dangerous for night climbers. If you want to save electricity, you can design voice-controlled street lights.
2. Why do we have so many small vendors? Don’t you know that it affects the image? Where should we put the cultural heritage?
3. The introduction and promotion of the temple is not in place, it is just for people to come and see the excitement, and there is no mention of the educational purpose. Oh, I really can't help but complain!
I didn't sleep the whole night, and it was already morning when I arrived at Mount Tai. I couldn't stand it any longer, so I just found a hotel and slept for 2 hours. It was in the afternoon when I continued to climb Mount Tai, taking the cable car up and down.
Mount Tai is the first of the Five Sacred Mountains. It has the highest status, and it still has that status from history to now. Therefore, many people climb the mountain, and there is a night climbing atmosphere. There are also many people who go to watch the sunrise, rent military coats, etc. In short, I think it is the most well-developed mountain among the Five Sacred Mountains in the Central Plains.
On a whim, I wanted to climb Mount Tai at night to celebrate the New Year. So I made a strategy and a detailed plan without anyone to call. I came to the land of Qilu alone to play, and also met up with teammates at the foot of the mountain. I started from Hongmen Tianwai Village and climbed all the way up. I thought I was well prepared, but I was still defeated by the biting cold wind after reaching the Riguan Peak. However, several tourists crowded on the mountaintops also suffered from the cold. Although I couldn’t take the most beautiful photos of the sunrise due to the thick clouds and equipment limitations, it was still a fulfilling New Year’s Eve trip.
Finally, I would like to share one thing I am not satisfied with: there are too few street lights along the way, which is not very friendly for people who hike at night.
The hike up the mountain usually starts from the Red Gate and it takes about 4 hours to climb to the South Gate.
The weather is cold in winter, so it is not recommended. It is recommended to take the scenic bus from Tianwai Village Square to Zhongtianmen, which takes about 30 minutes.
Walk from Zhongtianmen to Zhongtianmen Cableway Station and take the cable car directly to Nantianmen, which takes about 10 minutes.
Tips:
Tickets for the scenic spot: 100 yuan/person
Scenic area bus: 30 yuan/one way, 60 yuan for a round trip
Zhongtianmen Cableway: 100 yuan/one way, 100 yuan for both ways
In addition, it is not recommended to buy mineral water, instant noodles and rent military coats at the foot of the mountain. The prices are the same on the mountain, and there are restaurants in Tianjie where you can drink hot water and drinks, and a bowl of noodles costs only more than 10 yuan.
After getting off the cable car, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Nantianmen, and then Tianjie, where there are restaurants and hotels.
Climb up along Tianjie Road, and you will reach the highest point of Mount Tai, Yuhuangding, at an altitude of 1,545 meters.
The famous Taishan stone carving "Wuyue Duzun" (the only one in the world), which is also the pattern on the back of the RMB 5 yuan note, is on both sides of the road.
It is also the place where tourists take most photos.
God was really kind to us. Not only was the sunrise spectacular, but we also caught a brilliant sunset in the last quarter of an hour of our climb up the mountain.
Although we were frozen to death on the top of the mountain, we still had a lot of feelings.
It was not even 4 o'clock when I was woken up by the hotel's sunrise wake-up service. I followed the crowd to the top of the mountain wrapped in a military coat, and it was a special feeling to wait for the sunrise in the cold wind. However, the moment the sun jumped out, it was worth freezing like a dog!
It was already 3 or 4 in the afternoon when we were about to reach Zhongtianmen, so we decided to take the cable car up the mountain. When we first got on the cable car, it was still foggy below.
Suddenly, the sun shines through the clouds, and the view becomes clear. This is the sea of clouds, so beautiful. It feels like we are in heaven, riding on the clouds.
On the top of Mount Tai, there is a large expanse of blue sky, with no trace of the rainy weather at the foot of the mountain. There are many tourists on the top of the mountain, and the incense is very popular. The Heavenly Street on Mount Tai is really a Heavenly Street above the clouds. On the way down the mountain, birds are singing crisply, streams are rushing and crashing on the rocks, and there is bright moonlight.
Mount Tai is known as the spiritual symbol of the Chinese nation and the epitome of Chinese history and culture. It is the first of the Five Sacred Mountains and one of the ten famous mountains in China. It was listed in the World Cultural and Natural Heritage List in 1987 and is the world's first dual heritage and world geological park. Mount Tai Railway Station is not far from Mount Tai and can be reached by bus. Transportation: Bus No. 3 goes to Tianwai Village (the starting point of Mount Tai West Road), and Bus No. 2 is a tourist bus to the Tianzhu Peak Scenic Area of Mount Tai.
Route 16 is a special bus line to Taohuayu Scenic Area. The starting station is Taishan Railway Station and the end point is the mountain gate of Taohuayuan Scenic Area.
The starting fare for taxis in Taishan is 6 yuan, and the fare per kilometer is 1.5 yuan.
The best time to visit Mount Tai is from March to November. There are four wonders to see on Mount Tai: sunrise on Mount Tai, jade plate of sea of clouds, sunset glow, and golden belt of the Yellow River. There are more than 50 toilets on Mount Tai, generally about 500 meters apart. Green-card toilets are free, while red-card toilets are contracted by individuals and need to be used at a fee of 1 yuan per person.
There are 4 routes to climb Mount Tai: The middle route is the most classic route, starting from the Dai Temple or the Red Gate. It is the most concentrated classic route for cultural and natural landscapes on Mount Tai, and is also the essence of Mount Tai. For those who climb Mount Tai for the first time, it is strongly recommended to climb from here. If you have not taken this route when climbing Mount Tai, you have not really visited Mount Tai.
The west route is the most labor-saving climbing route. Starting from Tianwai Village Square, it is the most convenient, time-saving and labor-saving climbing route. The climbing route is divided into two sections: the first section is the winding mountain road from Tianwai Village to Zhongtianmen halfway up the mountain. The scenic area transportation time is about 30 minutes. There are many natural landscapes and historical sites along the way. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way; the second section is from Zhongtianmen to the top of the mountain. You can choose to walk up (about 2 hours) or take the cable car (about 15 minutes). Although this route is labor-saving and convenient, it sacrifices many attractions. It is recommended to take a car to Zhongtianmen and then walk to the top of the mountain to enjoy more beautiful scenery of Mount Tai. Relatively speaking, this route is more suitable for families with children or the elderly.
Tianzhu Peak is the most primitive and natural climbing route. Starting from Tianzhu Peak, this route is the least artificially developed scenic spot in Taishan. It is primitive and simple, and the natural landscape is well preserved. It is the "mysterious" place of Taishan. It is recommended that friends who like self-guided tours can choose this route to go down the mountain, which not only avoids going back, but also allows you to enjoy the beauty of Taishan more comprehensively. The tourist service facilities along this road are slightly less than the previous two climbing routes. You need to bring your own food and water when you choose to go up and down the mountain here.
Taohuayu is the most romantic mountaineering route, starting from Taohuayu, located at the western foot of Mount Tai. When the peach blossoms are in full bloom in spring, the mountains and fields are particularly beautiful. The mountaineering location of this route is far from the city. The bus time from the train station to the Taohuayu ticket office is about 1 hour. Please arrange your time reasonably! The cableway has a huge drop from the ground. Guests who are afraid of heights or have heart diseases are not recommended to take the Taohuayuan cableway.
Depart from Tianyi Gate at 10 am
We arrived at Yuhuangding at around 4pm just in time for sunset.
In general, this kind of beauty cannot be expressed in words.
Climb to the top to see the starfish and moon
(My legs hurt for two days☹️)
Mount Tai, located in the middle of Tai'an City, Shandong Province, China, is revered as the first of the Five Sacred Mountains. Ancient people believed that Mount Tai was in the middle and the center of the world. With its mild climate and fertile land, it became the center of ancient human reproduction and an important birthplace of ancient culture, and it occupies an important position in the development of history and culture.
In ancient China, Fengshan was a major national sacrificial activity, and was regarded as an important ritual for the emperor to communicate with heaven and earth and confirm the legitimacy of his rule. Since Qin Shihuang's Fengshan ceremony on Mount Tai, emperors of all dynasties have continued to Fengshan and offer sacrifices on Mount Tai. The emperors' respect and attention to Mount Tai over a long period of time has continuously improved the political status of Mount Tai, and it has gradually become a symbol of national unity and power.
When climbing Mount Tai and watching the sunrise, the first choice is the Sun Observation Deck. Stay at the weather station, get up early, and watch the sunrise from the roof.
The newly opened Taishan hiking trail "Dongyu Road" on April 26, 2023 has beautiful natural scenery, lush vegetation, quiet environment, and few people. The experience is very good. Although there are public toilets along the way, there are no supplies, and you can't just go out without coming in. However, during the hike, there are still workers working on it, and it feels like it will be improved slowly.
Mount Tai World Cultural and Natural Heritage
The gate opens to the nine heavens and walks to the three-day wonderland
The steps are thousands of steps high and overlook the wonders of thousands of obstacles
Although the way up the mountain is difficult, the changing scenery every moment makes people happy.
The beauty gained along the way may be the meaning of travel.
Climbing to the top 1545, all the worries and sorrows are just a little bit of seasoning in the long river of time. Give time time, let the past go, let the beginning begin, let us start from the heart and appreciate the culture of Mount Tai, which is unique among the Five Great Mountains.
I didn't sleep all night just to see the sunrise. There was no proper road on the way back, so I took a wild road with stairs and it was very tight. Thousands of people accompanied me to survive in the wilderness. I was very tired at the end and most people chose to take a car. The driver acted like he had never driven a car in his life. My mother vomited after getting off the car! Really amazing?
Mount Tai is not as scenic as the Five Sacred Mountains, but it has great historical significance. It is the place where emperors performed Fengshan rituals, and it is rich in cultural buildings, stone carvings, etc. The mountain road is relatively easy to climb, and a day's round trip is enough. Only at the Eighteen Bends will the steps be steeper.
The route we chose was to go up the mountain from Tianwai Village, take a bus to Zhongtianmen, then take a cable car to Nantianmen, walk to Yuhuangding, and then walk down the mountain. The main consideration was that walking down the mountain would be easier than going up the mountain (personal feeling haha). There are many cliff carvings along the way in Taishan, all of which are treasures left by our ancestors.
As a Chinese, I think it is very meaningful to climb Mount Tai. The natural scenery of Mount Tai is not as good as that of Mount Huangshan, but the culture of Mount Tai is unmatched by that of Mount Huangshan. The stone carvings of Mount Huangshan record the history and culture of China for thousands of years and convey the fine traditional spirit of China.
Mount Tai is located in the central part of Tai'an City, Shandong Province. The main peak, Jade Emperor Peak, is 1,545 meters above sea level. It is majestic and magnificent, and is known as the "First of the Five Mountains" and "The Best Mountain in the World".
I give it five stars because Mount Tai is worth it, but I think I won't go there again, it's too tiring. We climbed at night, and the train to Mount Tai Station is closer than Tai'an Station. We don't have to worry about not being able to find the bus after getting off the train. Most people who take the bus at this time at night go to Mount Tai. We started climbing from Hongmen, and we couldn't see the end. We were desperate and hopeful. I don't know how to describe the exhaustion. Oh, by the way, we must buy a hiking stick! A 5-yuan stick is enough. This stick saved my life. Anyone who has climbed knows it... In fact, we were very lucky. The rain had just stopped when we got off the bus, and then the stars were shining all night. I knew we would definitely see the sunrise. After passing Nantianmen, we could rent a military coat. An old one would be fine. The new one is not that good-looking. We desperately arrived at Zhanlutai. I felt like I was really going to ascend to heaven... Waiting for the sunrise, everything was worth it.
On March 22, 2019, I visited Mount Tai and Dai Temple for the first time! The weather was still a little cold. I took a sleeper train from Changzhou to Mount Tai Station. I rested and adjusted for a night and had enough energy! Due to the itinerary, I didn't have time to wait for the flowers to bloom and the spring to warm up! After visiting Dai Temple, I walked all the way to the foot of Mount Tai! Red Gate, Zhongtianmen! As described in most travel notes, it didn't consume much physical strength! After a short rest, I continued to move forward! There are too many places to eat near Zhongtianmen! Because I haven't exercised for a long time! Eighteen bends is a little bit strenuous for me! But it's still within the tolerance range! Nantianmen, Tianjie, Zhanlutai, Yuhuangding! Stay on the mountain at night! There was still some snow on the next morning and then stopped! But it didn't affect the mood of going to see the sunrise. Sure enough, the sunrise 🌅 was not as imagined! In order not to leave regrets, I still went down the mountain from Houshiwu according to the previous plan! Passing Tianzhu Peak, watching the top of the mountain getting farther and farther away from us! It means that the time to go home is getting closer and closer! Mount Tai is magnificent, especially the cultural landscape! If I have the chance, I will go to experience more beautiful mountains and rivers of my motherland!
My first mountain climbing experience was dedicated to Mount Tai! But the experience was really good, and it was also the first time I felt the feeling of paralysis in the lower body, hahaha! I arrived at Mount Tai in the afternoon, ate something and rested for a while before starting to climb the mountain. It was almost winter in November, and the weather was a little cold, but this weather was also suitable, otherwise the weather in Shandong would be too hot. It was still a little cold on the mountain at night. The best place to watch the sunrise was at Riguan Peak. You can choose to stay in a hotel for 100 yuan a night. You can also choose to rent a tent or a military coat. For meals, it is best to eat casually, don't ask for too much, because it is really expensive on the mountain. Remember to buy crutches before climbing the mountain, which can really save a lot of effort. If you start climbing the mountain in the afternoon, it is best to climb up before dark, because it is really difficult to see the road after dark.
Mount Tai, the Eastern Peak, has great views, but you have to choose the right time to go. The Eighteen Bends are difficult to climb, but only with thrills can there be excitement, and only with challenges can there be joy after victory. I like it and recommend it
The team rode motorcycles from Xuzhou and rode for nearly a day to Mount Tai. We started climbing the mountain at 12 o'clock in the evening and it took us 5 hours to reach the top. Since it was the New Year's Day, the weather was cold and the temperature was even lower when we climbed the mountain. The sweat on our hair had already frozen. We rented cotton jackets on the mountain and waited for more than an hour to watch the sunrise. It was very beautiful. After all, it is the first of the Five Mountains! !
Mount Tai is worth a visit. When we went there, it was too foggy. Arriving at the Jade Emperor Palace was like arriving at a fairy palace. The clouds and mist were like a fairyland. I hope I can feel the feeling of looking down on all the other mountains from Mount Tai next time.
Stealing a day of leisure from your busy life is a peaceful and colorful experience. Yes, if you want to climb Mount Tai, stealing a day from your busy life is enough. If you want to taste Tai'an's special food, or stay overnight on the top of Mount Tai to watch the sunrise and sunset, you can choose a weekend and two days to have a wonderful and enjoyable time.
There are many things for sale in the scenic area, and most of them are carried up by porters on shoulder poles. You will see many porters when hiking during the day. It is really hard and not easy for them. They wear worn-out military cloth shoes and live in simple sheds built in the mountains. A five or six hour hike earns 80 yuan. Such cheap labor is the entire source of income for the porters on Mount Tai. It is very sad, so I really think that the things on the top of Mount Tai are not expensive.
There are many accommodations on the top of Mount Tai. If it is not a holiday, it is not expensive, but the environment is relatively not very good. If you like cleanliness, it is not recommended to stay on the top of the mountain.
If you want to climb at night, you must bring a flashlight. Although there are a few shops open at night along the way, it is still very dark overall. However, there are many people climbing at night, so there is no need to be afraid. Prepare thick clothes because the temperature is relatively low at night, and it is windy on the top of the mountain most of the time. If you go in winter, you must bring thick clothes. In summer, you must prepare mosquito repellent, sunscreen clothes, etc.
Tai'an becomes very quiet after 10pm, so if you like nightlife, this city may disappoint you.
It is a very majestic mountain, showing its solemnity, righteousness and kingly demeanor everywhere, but it is far from being elegant. This is a famous mountain that is particularly worth climbing, with convenient transportation. Except for the Eighteen Bends, the difficulty is moderate, and there are authentic works of celebrities everywhere.
The mountain of Chinese culture. Watching the sunrise on Mount Tai is not about how beautiful the scenery is, after all, the altitude is only 1,500 meters, but it is definitely the most meaningful, all of which are cultural attributes given by Fengshan.
It is actually very interesting to climb the mountain while looking at the stone carvings on both sides. The literati and scholars who cherished words like gold rushed to carve stones on the mountain to record their achievements in an orderly manner. The higher the level, the higher the level. You can see the protection of the best calligraphy culture (some of the more important ones have been moved to the Dai Temple at the foot of the mountain). It is like a barrage of gradually fascinating, straight to the top of the mountain. This experience is unique in the world.
Among the Five Great Mountains, Mount Tai, as a world natural and cultural heritage, stands tall in the east and reaches the sky. It deserves the eternal admiration of the Chinese people!
I had high expectations for Mount Tai, but when I got there I felt the scenery didn't live up to its reputation.
The process is difficult, but the result is wonderful. There will always be rewards for your efforts.
The sunrise is beautiful
Climbing is tiring
But the sunrise is worth it
The Five Mountains are the most majestic, and the name is well-deserved! Almost all of the stairs are stone steps, and the Eighteen Bends are almost vertical!
In order to watch the sunrise and sunset, and travel easily, I finally fulfilled a small wish, a short distance and short time to relax!
5A-level scenic spots, if you don't want to be tired, just spend money... But even after spending money, I still feel very tired ah ah ah ah ah
All the mountains seem small when you look at them! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
It is worthy of being called the most majestic of the Five Mountains. When you look at Mount Tai from the foot of the mountain, it is so majestic and majestic. Climbing Mount Tai is very tiring, especially the 18 turns. I almost felt desperate. Mount Tai has culture and scenery, and it is definitely worth a visit. The shops on the mountain are a bit dark, so it is best to bring enough food with you.
14 15 I climbed twice and it was awesome
What should I write? I'd better not write. To be honest, climbing mountains is tiring.
Next time I will definitely go to see the sunset and moonrise again
Climbing Mount Tai at night, the hospitality of Shandong, falling in love with this city and its people
Mount Tai has become a symbol of the Chinese nation. The majestic Mount Tai is as well-known as the Great Wall. This design is on the back of the five-yuan RMB note.
It is worth referring to for learning. You can do your homework on the places you want to go and then take part in a self-guided tour or a group tour based on your actual age, which will benefit you a lot.
Mount Tai, also known as Daishan, is the most famous mountain in China with the longest history of tourism. It is the most majestic of the Five Sacred Mountains and is also known as the "No. 1 Famous Mountain in the World". With its long history and culture, Mount Tai is known as the "Most Respected of the Five Sacred Mountains".
I have always longed for Mount Tai because of Du Fu's poem "I will climb to the top of the mountain and look down on all the other mountains." The beauty of Mount Tai is not in its steepness or beauty, but in its profound history and grandeur.
How is Mount Tai? The green mountains of Qi and Lu are endless.
Nature is full of wonders, with yin and yang dividing day and night.
The clouds are rising in my heart, and the returning birds are entering my eyes.
I will climb to the top of the mountain and look down on all the other mountains.
Grandpa climbed up in a ghillie suit and roller skates, better than anyone else
Mount Tai, the Eastern Peak. It is the first of the Five Mountains. It is definitely not an exaggeration. If you want to climb all the way up, you still need a lot of physical strength.
There are inscriptions on the stone all the way to Hongmen Mountain, with various historical allusions. If you want to see the scenery, you still have to go to Taohuayu.
The second time we went to Mount Tai, a journey to fulfill a wish. The baby also made a wish for himself, hoping that he would not catch a cold, and hoping that mom and dad could live forever. What a lovely baby.
This time I went to Huai'an, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Huangshan and Nanjing. The city roads in Huai'an and Suzhou are too narrow and the road conditions are not good. Hangzhou is quite good, both the scenic spots and roads are good. I haven't been to Huangshan and Nanjing yet, and I will share with you after I finish my trip.
It is the most famous mountain in China with the longest history of tourism. It is the first of the Five Sacred Mountains because of its majestic momentum.
The first of the Five Mountains, it is too famous, but I really think it is just average, nothing special, not dangerous, not beautiful, and has no characteristics. You can read my travel notes for details, which have a detailed description
Mount Tai is a symbol of the Chinese national spirit. Every climb brings a new understanding.
I climbed Mount Tai two years ago. Are there any friends to accompany me in the rain tonight? 2018.11.5
If you have any, PM me
Four routes to climb Mount Tai
1. Taishan Middle Road - the most classic mountaineering route
2. Taishan West Road - the most labor-saving climbing route
3. Tianzhu Peak - the most primitive and natural hiking route
4. Taohuayu - the most romantic hiking route
Climbing Mount Tai at night to watch the sunrise mainly starts from the Red Gate. Regarding the issue of safety, as more and more people choose to climb Mount Tai at night, there is basically only one main road for climbing Mount Tai at night. There are many people on weekends, especially holidays, so it is actually quite safe.
I booked the ticket for Mount Tai on China-TravelNote. The official price was 125, but I booked it for about 113. There was no need to exchange tickets, I could just swipe my ID card.
There are actually quite a lot of supplies on the mountain, not much more expensive than at the foot of the mountain, so you don't need to carry too many things up, especially water, 2 yuan a bottle, 4 bottles for 10 yuan, almost the same price, even at the top of the mountain. Instant noodles 6 yuan a bucket, cucumber 10 yuan 4/5, actually quite cheap.
As for trekking poles, you can buy them at the foot of the mountain for 5 yuan each, but it seems that the ones you bring up the mountain are useless, and those who take the cable car down the mountain will leave them on the mountain, so you can just pick up one and go down the mountain. At the foot of the mountain, some merchants who recycle trekking poles will also recycle your trekking poles with some useless small souvenirs.
Key points: The most typical one is the military coat. The top of the mountain is about 9 degrees colder than the bottom of the mountain, and the wind is quite strong. If you don’t bring your own jacket or light down jacket, you usually need to rent one to watch the sunrise, unless you stay in a hotel on the top of the mountain, which may give you a cotton coat. When you are halfway up the mountain, shops start selling them, saying that it will become more and more expensive later, and then many people fall into the trap, and then drag a military coat weighing more than 10 kilograms to climb the mountain. Whoever buys it early knows that it is painful to be heavy and hot. The price of the military coat goes from 10 yuan halfway up the mountain to 20, 30, and then back to 20, 10, in a parabolic curve. At the real top of the mountain, there are many stalls that only sell one for 10 yuan, but in fact, when you reach the top of the mountain, most people can’t stand the scams of the shops in front and rent it early. Then you have to climb the mountain with a heavy and hot load.
Then I want to complain about the breakfast in the mountains. Many restaurants offer breakfast packages ranging from 10 to 20 yuan. Although I don't have any expectations for the food in tourist attractions, especially in the mountains, it is really unpalatable and hard to swallow. Generally, there are fried dough sticks, soybean milk, millet porridge, fried cakes, and pickles to fill you up, but the soybean milk and fried cakes are cold and hard, the millet porridge is boiled and then diluted with water, the soybean milk is diluted hundreds of times, and the pickles are pickled for hundreds of years. It is better to bring some bread or buy instant noodles, which is much more delicious than this.
This was a spontaneous trip. Without any further thought, we drove off. It was around 10pm when we arrived at the foot of Mount Tai. We started buying tickets for the climb.
The first of the Five Mountains, I will climb to the top and see all the other mountains below.
I climbed Mount Tai in March 2015, but unfortunately I didn’t see the sunrise due to fog.
Mount Tai, the first of the Five Sacred Mountains, is calm and majestic, and is a UNESCO natural and cultural heritage site. I was short on time so I went back and forth that day. I chose to take a minibus from Tianwai Village for 30 yuan to Zhongtianmen, and then take a cable car for 100 yuan to Yuhuangding. The mountain is 1,545 meters high, and the scenic spots include Nantianmen, Bixia Temple, and Shibapan... The shaded part of the mountain is cold, and the sunny part is warm and bright. Whether in terms of popularity or scenery, it is a worthwhile attraction.
Play time 6 hours
Tips:
1. You must have an ID card to buy tickets for Mount Tai. Other documents are not accepted. Otherwise, you can only buy full-price tickets online. The ticket price is 100 yuan/person, and the discounted price is 50 yuan/person. We forgot to bring our ID cards, so we can only buy at the original price.
2. There are three climbing routes on Mount Tai:
A. Hongmen→Zhongtianmen (cable car)→Shibapan→Nantianmen→Yuhuangding
Tianwai Village→Zhongtianmen (cable car)…
Hongmen is the most classic route, suitable for first-time climbers. From here you can almost appreciate the scenery of the entire Mount Tai without any regrets. From Hongmen to Zhongtianmen, you can only walk, which takes about 2 hours.
Departing from Tianwai Village, you can take a tourist bus directly to Zhongtianmen without passing through Hongmen.
B. Tiaohuayu→Taohuayuan→Nantianmen→Yuhuangding
The easiest route to the summit is to take a car and then a cable car. It is suitable for climbing directly to the summit to watch the sunrise, and then hiking down the mountain along Route A.
C. Tianzhu Peak→Yuhuang Peak (not recommended for non-professionals)
This is the route with the least artificial development, suitable for hikers to take photos. The scenery along the way is basically pristine mountain forest. There is no cable car, so you can only take Route 11 to go up the mountain, which is a relatively tiring route.
3. There are many shops along the way, so you really don’t have to carry the supplies yourself. After all, the water and instant noodles are only 3 or 4 yuan more expensive, and carrying them by yourself is tiring and dangerous.
4. Take good sun protection. Ultraviolet rays are extremely high and it is easy to get sunburned.
After buying the ticket at the foot of the mountain, there is a free bus that takes you directly to Hongmen, the starting point of the Taishan trip. At Hongmen, you have to choose whether to hike up the mountain or take the cable car. You really need to consider your physical strength here, because if you choose to hike the entire journey (8.4 kilometers, more than 7,000 steps, 4-5 hours), you can only walk. It would be embarrassing if you run out of energy in the middle.
We chose Route A, hiking up the mountain and then taking the cable car down. Many people think that climbing up the mountain is more tiring than going down the mountain, which is actually a huge misunderstanding. Climbing up the mountain is much easier than going down the mountain!!! When climbing up the mountain, you just need to overcome your weight, and you can push up as hard as you want, and do whatever is comfortable for your body. But when going down the mountain, in addition to controlling the strength, you also need to adjust your posture. Along the way, I saw many people hiking down the mountain backwards, which was a bit dangerous. Moreover, the steps of Mount Tai are designed too high, but the width of the steps is very narrow, so it is easy to make a mistake. You really have to be careful when climbing a mountain! Be careful! Be careful again!
I started climbing at around 8am on October 15th. I was almost scared by what I read online. I made up my mind several times and finally decided to hike up from Hongmen. It was very easy at the beginning. The weather was cool and not too hot. There were few people. I walked with two trekking poles and hummed a little song. There are many food vendors in the mountains, like the mid-race supplies, and the prices are quite reasonable. Water is 5 yuan, and there are also 2 yuan. Red Bull is 10 yuan, and there are watermelons, cucumbers, etc. Trekking poles are still necessary, preferably two. Anyway, I brought two with me, which can share the center of gravity with the trekking poles a lot, protecting my legs and knees. On the road, there are always people who look at me using two trekking poles and express surprise. Some say that he is so smart to use two poles, and some say that he is using two crutches. I quickly ran away and ignored them. It took about two hours to get to Zhongtianmen. My speed was relatively fast. I walked a little further to the Eighteen Bends. During this period, I did regret taking a car to Zhongtianmen, but it was okay. I recovered after a rest. I could eat some chocolate, fruit, or drink a bottle of Red Bull. The Eighteen Bends section was indeed as the Internet said. It was not a battle of physical strength, but willpower. Anyway, at that time, I was thinking about the Qin Emperor and Han Wu, Confucius and Du Fu, and I could brag to others on WeChat Moments if I gritted my teeth and held on for a while. Just like that, I climbed up and arrived at Nantianmen. I looked at the time. It took a little more than four hours in total, which was still relatively fast. I was alone and didn't drag my feet. It was fast. Inside was Tianjie, which was full of food. I didn't plan to eat, so I took a closer look. I went straight to Yuhuangding and saw the stone tablets of Wuyue Duzun and Confucius Xiaotianxia. Everyone lined up to take pictures, so I took a picture from a distance and left. In order to catch the train and avoid walking the Eighteen Bends again, I took the cable car from Nantianmen to Zhongtianmen, and then walked down the mountain. I was watched by people holding sticks all the way. It's normal. My legs hurt waiting for tomorrow. Which mountain is the next one?
I went to Mount Tai on October 6th. It is said that there were relatively fewer tourists than in the first few days. In addition, I entered the scenic area at 7 o'clock earlier. I took the scenic bus from Tianwai Village to Zhongtianmen and then took the cable car to Nantianmen. My husband hiked Mount Tai from Zhongtianmen to Nantianmen, which took less than 2 hours. The breakfast in Tianjie was 10 yuan per person, and you can eat as much as you want. There were porridge, soy milk, fried dough sticks, Shandong pancakes, and pickles. Let's talk about the Eighteen Bends. I used to read guides and reviews saying that the steps of the Eighteen Bends were very steep, and some even said that they were almost vertical. After reading it, it really scared off a group of people who wanted to hike, and I was one of them. My husband climbed Mount Tai himself. After I asked about the situation again and again, I decided to go down the mountain and give up the cable car and walk down from the Eighteen Bends. After field investigation, it is true that there are many steps, but they are not as steep as the legend says. Only a few are relatively steep. Most of them are similar to the stairs at home, but the width of the steps is slightly narrower. As long as you hold on, you can climb Mount Tai. But I had a lot of calf pain when I got home. I have a quick way to reduce pain. Spray the Guyouling squeezed liquid on the calf, let it dry slightly, and then apply a heat patch. It is best to bind it so that the heat patch does not fall off. I woke up one night and it didn't hurt to walk anymore.
I went there with the Green Fields team during the Qingming Festival in 2010. Maybe because Mount Tai is so famous, there were so many people. The weather was warm and late that year. There were no flowers or greenery. We mainly climbed the mountain, looked at the stone carvings and tourists.
We went there in mid-August. We climbed the mountain in the early morning. The weather at the foot of the mountain was still quite hot. I went up the mountain in short-sleeved shirts, shorts and a windbreaker. There were many people climbing at night to watch the sunrise. The closer we got to the top of the mountain, the more people there were. We were stuck near the South Gate and couldn't move. The sky was not suitable for rain, so we could only stand there and get wet. The wind was very strong when we got to the top of the mountain. The five of us were freezing. We rented a military coat and huddled in a corner to watch the sunrise. I forgot how much it cost, but it should be dozens of yuan. But because it rained early, the weather was gloomy and foggy everywhere. It didn't get bright before we saw the sun.
Mount Tai is very majestic and interesting, and the people of Shandong are very friendly. However, maybe because I have been to Mount Huangshan before, I feel that Mount Tai is a little less interesting than Mount Huangshan.
Recommendation index: 5 stars
I think it is worth climbing once in a lifetime to experience the rich history and culture.
Mount Tai is very close to Jinan and can be reached within an hour by bus or high-speed train. Dress as casually and conveniently as possible.
Mount Tai has two entrances: Wanxian Tower and Tianwai Village. Wanxian Tower is a crawling tour route, and Tianwai Village is a bus tour route. There is a parking lot at Zhongtianmen. Whether you crawl or take a bus to Zhongtianmen, you can choose to walk up the mountain or take the cable car.
Many people choose to climb at night, stay overnight on the mountain, and then watch the sunrise the next day. There are military coats for rent on the mountain, so you don't need to bring too many clothes to the mountain, but you must bring water and food, because the things on the mountain are more expensive. I chose to climb the mountain during the day. Things at the foot of the mountain and the mountainside are not expensive, so I bought water at the foot of the mountain before going up the mountain. Before climbing, the uncle suggested buying trekking poles, which are very cheap, five yuan for two. There are many long and steep steps on the mountain, and trekking poles can assist us. However, it should be noted that there are many people climbing the mountain. You must control your poles and don't trip others. You must also be careful not to be tripped by other people's trekking poles. If you fall, it will definitely affect a group of people. There is no scenery along the climbing route.
Come and experience what it means to see all the mountains from a distance, and feel a sense of accomplishment when you reach the top
It is said that "after visiting Huangshan, you will not want to visit any other mountains". People believe that "the scenery of the Five Mountains is different". In particular, Mount Tai, with its long history and culture, can be called "the most majestic of the Five Mountains". During the Mid-Autumn Festival of Wuxu, the weather was fine. I climbed Mount Tai, enjoyed the sunset, the bright moon, and the sunrise. I could see all the other mountains. After the breeze, the sound of pine waves was very special.
Mount Tai, as one of only four dual heritage sites in my country and the most majestic of the Five Great Mountains, holds a very important place in my heart.
I think it is a place that one must visit in one's lifetime. The stone carvings of Mount Tai are used as the background of the new version of the five-yuan RMB. I have always wanted to see this place.
Visiting Mount Tai has deepened my understanding of it. Its majesty and beauty are impressive.
The connection with royal culture is also an important attraction of Mount Tai. Monarchs throughout history would come to Mount Tai to offer sacrifices to the gods.
The standard characteristic of Mount Tai is its majesty, so it does not have some characteristics of other famous mountains, such as beauty and steepness, but Mount Tai has its own beauty. Its ruggedness and magnificence will still give some insights to everyone who has visited it. The sunrise at Mount Tai is very famous, but it was a pity that I was in a hurry to go back to work at that time and did not climb Mount Tai at night.
Many people who come to Mount Tai will choose to burn incense, because due to the visits of emperors of all dynasties, the incense here is very popular. Everyone will worship and make their own wishes, but how many wishes will really come true? Many things still require one's own efforts.
Climbing all the way up, the only three feelings left were heat, tiredness, and thirst. At the beginning, I climbed a lot of steps before taking a break. Slowly, I wanted to sit here, hahahaha. Gritting my teeth, chatting and encouraging each other, we finally arrived at Nantianmen. It was 1:30 in the morning of the 23rd. In a corner of Nantianmen, I simply replenished my energy with the cyclist, put on long clothes, and slept for an hour leaning on each other. After a simple rest, we set off for the top of the mountain at 4:00, just to see the first ray of sunshine. When we arrived at the top of the mountain, there were still very few people, and we quickly looked for the best place. We sat down next to a larger stone, which could both watch the sunrise and block the wind, which was the best. More and more people came, and the sky in the east became redder and redder, and the sunrise also appeared and disappeared with the drifting clouds and mist. Around 5:00, the red color slowly disappeared. After all, we still couldn't escape the invasion of the typhoon. The thick clouds and mist blocked the sunrise. After all, I left the regret of not seeing the sunrise after reaching the top of Mount Tai.
It was pitch black when we climbed up the mountain; when we went down the mountain, we witnessed the danger of Mount Tai. It was indeed called the "Eighteen Bends". Wow, the steps were nearly 90 degrees inclination, and I immediately doubted how I climbed up. At this time, my legs were already moving mechanically, completely out of the control of my brain, and they were shaking all the time. I walked and rested for 3 hours and arrived at the Taishan Cultural Square. I took the No. 61 special line and arrived directly at Taishan Station.
My travel notes have a detailed introduction, here are a few suggestions
1. Before departure, decide whether to climb during the day or at night. If you climb during the day, it is recommended to start climbing in the morning, as it will be hotter at noon. The main purpose of climbing at night is to see the sunrise on Mount Tai. However, if you go to Mount Tai in July and August, it is recommended to climb during the day. Climbing at night will miss a lot of scenery along the way, because the weather is hot in July and August, and the temperature difference between the mountain and the foot of the mountain is relatively large, and there will be a lot of fog on the top of the mountain. People on the mountain say that you can only see the sunrise two or three times a month in this month, so if you go there, it is a kind of fate if you can see it.
2. It is recommended that you buy a walking stick for two or three yuan at the foot of the mountain. It will come in handy when you climb the Eighteen Bends.
3. Bring a flashlight and a disposable raincoat when climbing at night. Both of them do not take up space and are not heavy. On the contrary, I think the amount of water and snacks varies from person to person. Those who are physically fit and confident can carry water up the mountain. For those who are not physically fit, I suggest you just bring a bottle to drink first. The water on the mountain is not as expensive as you think.
Don't buy water at the entrance of Hongmen, it's 3 RMB a bottle; there are vendors all the way up from Hongmen, old popsicles are only one RMB each, and Nongfu Spring is the normal price of 2 RMB a bottle; you will pass a fire station on the way, and they will check your tickets. The water there is the darkest, and Nongfu Spring is 5 RMB a bottle. If there is enough water, don't buy from there. The people at the fire station will lie to you that the water gets more expensive the higher you go up the mountain, but that's not the case; the vendors you pass by later sell Nongfu Spring for 10 RMB for 3 bottles, and the cheap White Elephant for 10 RMB for 4 bottles, which are all within an acceptable range.
4. No need to bring a coat, because you will only feel hot while climbing. You will really feel cold after reaching Tianjie. It is coldest in the early morning and your own coat is completely useless. We climbed at night in early August and it was still very cold when we reached the top of the mountain. We put on a disposable raincoat and spent 10 yuan to rent a military coat, which is both windproof and not too dirty and sticks to the body.
5. For daytime mountain climbing, you can choose Tianwai Village to take a bus along the winding mountain road to Zhongtianmen. From Zhongtianmen, you can take a cable car to Tianjie. The bus costs RMB 30 per person and the cable car costs RMB 100 per person.
6. Regarding luggage storage for night climbing, there are many at the foot of Mount Tai. If you take the train, it is recommended to store your luggage at a small supermarket next to the train station. It costs 10 yuan to store a suitcase overnight. There is a police station next to it, so I think the safety issue should be somewhat guaranteed.
My physical strength is not very good, so I climbed the mountain slowly, walking and resting all the way. I listed my timetable for reaching various attractions for reference only:
Arrived at Hongmen at 19:52, passed Shiyu at 20:56, Yitian Pavilion at 22:34, Zhongtianmen at 23:22, Yingtian at 00:22, Shibapan at 01:40, Longmen at 02:03, Shengxianfang at 02:37, Nantianmen at 02:51, Tianjie at 03:21, Riguan Peak at 04:06, Gongbei Stone at 04:28. On the way, we had long breaks at Tianmen and Tianjie to eat and replenish our energy.
There were a lot of people going up the mountain in a mess, but the people going down the mountain were quite orderly. Most people chose to take the cable car. I climbed to Nantianmen with my friends. I couldn't climb anymore and planned to take the cable car down the mountain. As a result, I queued with my friends for an hour and a half before I got on the cable car. The steps were narrow and some places were steep, but looking back, I felt really good and accomplished, and the scenery in the distance was really beautiful.
