Climbing up all the way, you can see the red gate from a long distance. It took about two hours to complete the hike. Nantianmen is an important checkpoint for entering the heaven. On the left is the cable car station, and the rest is flat road!

Standing at the Nantianmen and looking down, the legendary Eighteen Bends is not as scary as imagined.

When you reach the top of the mountain, the sky appears bluer, the air is fresher, and the temperature is lower.

After climbing to the entrance of the top of Mount Tai, we arrived at the South Gate of Heaven, which was considered as climbing Mount Tai. The scenery around the South Gate of Heaven was pretty good, especially when I looked at the long Eighteen Bends at my feet, I felt a special sense of accomplishment.

Nantianmen, also known as Santianmen or Tianmenguan, is 1,460 meters above sea level. It is built in the low valley between Feilongyan and Xiangfengling of Mount Tai, with two peaks sandwiched between them, as if the gate of heaven is open. It was built in the fifth year of Zhongtong in the Yuan Dynasty (1264 AD), and the couplet on the gate reads "The gate opens to the sky, looking up to the three heavenly wonders; the steps are thousands of steps high, overlooking the wonders of thousands of peaks".

Looking up at Nantianmen from the Eighteen Bends, Nantianmen seems to be the ultimate goal. After reaching Nantianmen, I found that it is just a symbolic landmark, so I continued to hike towards Yuhuangding, the top of Mount Tai!

The South Gate of Heaven was formerly known as Tianmen Pass. In ancient times, Mount Tai represented heaven, so the top of Mount Tai was the location of heaven.

There are four gates in the heaven: east, west, south and north. This gate faces south, so it is called "South Gate of Heaven" and is also the main gate of the heaven.

Nantianmen, also known as Santianmen, is located at the end of the Eighteen Bends, at the top of the mountain climbing path, on the pass between Feilong Rock and Xiangfeng Ridge. Looking up from below, it looks like a palace in the sky, and is the gateway to the top of Mount Tai. It was built in the first year of the Yuan Dynasty (1264), rebuilt many times in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and renovated twice after the founding of the People's Republic of China. The current architecture maintains the style of the Qing Dynasty.

When we got here, we had climbed more than halfway down. Many people slept on the floor here at night. This was the last resting place.

I am very proud that I can climb to Nantianmen on my own. It is really high. It took us more than three hours to climb from the middle of the mountain to Nantianmen. I feel very accomplished.

Daizongfang is the gate of Mount Tai, and Yitianmen is the beginning of the ladder to heaven, where people gradually enter heaven from the human world. The area between Yitianmen and Ertianmen (Zhongtianmen) is called Sanchongtian, the area between Ertianmen and Santianmen (Nantianmen) is called Liuchongtian, and the area beyond Santianmen is Jiuchongtian, and the area after Yuhuangding is called Jiuxiao.

When you reach Nantianmen, you are basically almost at the top of the mountain. The steps in front of Nantianmen are very difficult to climb, so if you want to reach Nantianmen, you have to grit your teeth and persevere!

Hiking here basically completes the climb of Mount Tai. There is still snow on the roadside on New Year's Eve, but it can't stop the enthusiasm of night climbers to celebrate the New Year.

By Li Bukong |

Hongmen is the final stop for climbing Mount Tai, and it is also a sign that you are about to reach the top. If you are climbing at night, you can rent a coat here, take a short rest, and then go up when the sun is about to rise.

Nantianmen is the end of the Eighteen Bends. Once you get here, there is basically no more physically demanding road, and the road to the top is also easy.

By A glimpse of evening light |

I met a fellow hiker on the way up the mountain. We climbed Mount Tai together and played together. Later, I met an older woman who brought two or three children with her. She climbed up step by step. I don’t know how long it has been since I felt how great a mother’s love is. I only know that mother’s love is that unreasonable climbing with children on the back and holding the children’s hands and not letting go! Like!

Due to the urgency of time, we took the cable car directly to Nantianmen.

The end of the Eighteen Bends is the South Gate of Heaven. Once you reach the South Gate, you will be cheering. The cable car reaches the highest point here. If you are willing, you can climb a few more steps to the Jade Emperor Peak. If you are not willing, you can still be considered to have climbed Mount Tai.

Once you reach Nantianmen, you don’t have to climb the mountain much, the scenic spot is just a circle around the top of the mountain.

I truly understand the meaning of not recognizing a great person.

By Baili Doll |

When you reach the South Gate of Heaven, you have reached the top. The rest of the way is mostly flat. On the left is the upper station of the cableway, and on the right is a street called Tianjie, where there are more hotels and restaurants, but the food is not very expensive.

Nantianmen was built by Taoist Zhang Zhichun of Bushan in the fifth year of the Zhongtong reign of the Yuan Dynasty (1264). The gate is a loft-style building with a stone arched doorway and the title "Nantianmen". It is decorated with red walls and covered with yellow glazed tiles, and looks majestic. There is a couplet on the side of the gate: The gate opens to the nine heavens and steps up to the three heavenly wonders; the steps are thousands of steps and overlook the wonders of thousands of peaks.

Zhang Zhichun (1220-1316), from Bu Shangbao, Tai'an Prefecture (now Anjiazhuang Town, Feicheng City), was a famous Taoist in the Yuan Dynasty. Zhang Zhichun started chanting sutras at the age of 6 and entered Taoism at the age of 12. He lived in Huizhen Palace at the foot of Mount Tai. His teacher Cui Daoyan was a disciple of Wang Chongyang. Zhang Zhichun was a Taoist master and served as the abbot of Dongyue Temple. Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty, bestowed upon him the titles of "Master Chongzhen Baode" and "Tian Ni" and granted him purple robes.

Xu Shilong praised Zhang Zhichun as "strong and clear as a crane, and vigorous as a dragon in old age". Zhang Zhichun passed away at the age of 96, chanting a verse:

Taking off the leather bag that gave me life from my mother, I feel happy and light-hearted.

Make great progress and go to Pengyuan Cave.

In his previous life, he was a virtuous monk who was a doctor, and now he is a talented Taoist.

Zhang Zhichun spent decades renovating more than 20 temples and shrines on Mount Tai. The most difficult and famous one was the creation of the South Gate of Heaven.

We started at 1pm and went down the mountain at 11pm. In the end, we really had to crawl up. The top of the mountain was very cold and the road was icy. There were no street lights when we went down the mountain at night, so we brought a flashlight.

I didn't expect that it would rain as soon as I arrived at Nantianmen... it rained... it rained... I don't know why during that period of time, when the weather said it would not rain, it would rain as soon as I went out...

I saw it a long time ago. It's so close yet so far away. The road to the Eighteen Bends is not easy to walk on. The Z-shaped shaking is still very tiring, but it feels great once you reach the top. It gives you a great sense of accomplishment.

My comment here is to give a shot of prevention to friends who go to Mount Tai on May Day! There is a place called Pengyuan Restaurant, don't go there, there are pictures below! It is said that you can stay as you like for ten yuan and eat as much as you want, but after entering, there are only soy milk and fried dough sticks! There are also restrictions, and more will not be given! We went in March, and the snow was ten centimeters thick. The boss wrapped himself warmly, and then he never closed the door. Climbing Mount Tai at night, it was so sleepy and so cold, but the door was always open, just for him to solicit customers! Very angry, if it wasn't for my friends stopping me, there might really be a conflict! Also, pay attention to renting coats. The temperature on May Day should not be too much for you, but it is still necessary to say that renting a coat at the foot of the mountain is 40 yuan a piece, and renting a coat at Nantianmen is 10 yuan a piece. He will give you a receipt, and when you come down after watching the sunrise, he will tell you that there is no change early in the morning, and then give you two broken bells. What you need to do is to confront him head-on! Let him return your money, don't be scared! In addition to these, the scenery is still good! This is why I give five stars!

After coming down from Nantianmen, we did not take the cable car back to Zhongtianmen, but walked down from Taohuayuan in the back mountain. Taohuayuan also has a cable car to the bus stop, and the price is 100 yuan. However, my wife insisted on walking down, so we had to endure the pain and walked on the mountain road for two and a half hours, and finally reached the Taohuayuan bus stop. In my daughter's words, my feet were shaking from walking.

After the 18 bends that took a lot of energy and time, you will reach Nantianmen. You have already climbed to an altitude of 1,460 meters. Standing at Nantianmen and looking back at the 18 bends, you will never believe that you have walked such a steep and magnificent road. Nantianmen is a loft-style building with red walls and yellow tiles. Some people say that "seeing Nantianmen means victory is in sight". Indeed, there are no more steep and physically demanding mountain roads after Nantianmen, so when you arrive at Nantianmen, you can sit down and rest while enjoying the infinite natural scenery.
