After climbing to the entrance of the top of Mount Tai, we arrived at the South Gate of Heaven, which was considered as climbing Mount Tai. The scenery around the South Gate of Heaven was pretty good, especially when I looked at the long Eighteen Bends at my feet, I felt a special sense of accomplishment.

Nantianmen, also known as Santianmen or Tianmenguan, is 1,460 meters above sea level. It is built in the low valley between Feilongyan and Xiangfengling of Mount Tai, with two peaks sandwiched between them, as if the gate of heaven is open. It was built in the fifth year of Zhongtong in the Yuan Dynasty (1264 AD), and the couplet on the gate reads "The gate opens to the sky, looking up to the three heavenly wonders; the steps are thousands of steps high, overlooking the wonders of thousands of peaks".

Looking up at Nantianmen from the Eighteen Bends, Nantianmen seems to be the ultimate goal. After reaching Nantianmen, I found that it is just a symbolic landmark, so I continued to hike towards Yuhuangding, the top of Mount Tai!

The South Gate of Heaven was formerly known as Tianmen Pass. In ancient times, Mount Tai represented heaven, so the top of Mount Tai was the location of heaven.

There are four gates in the heaven: east, west, south and north. This gate faces south, so it is called "South Gate of Heaven" and is also the main gate of the heaven.

The area between Yitianmen and Ertianmen (Zhongtianmen) is called Sanchongtian, the area between Ertianmen and Santianmen (Nantianmen) is called Liuchongtian, and the area beyond Santianmen is Jiuchongtian, and the area after Yuhuangding is called Jiuxiao.

When you reach Nantianmen, you are basically almost at the top of the mountain. The steps in front of Nantianmen are very difficult to climb, so if you want to reach Nantianmen, you have to grit your teeth and persevere!

I found that many mountains have Nantianmen, including the Five Sacred Mountains.

Hiking here basically completes the climb of Mount Tai. There is still snow on the roadside on New Year's Eve, but it can't stop the enthusiasm of night climbers to celebrate the New Year.

Hongmen is the final stop for climbing Mount Tai, and it is also a sign that you are about to reach the top. If you are climbing at night, you can rent a coat here, take a short rest, and then go up when the sun is about to rise.

Nantianmen is the end of the Eighteen Bends. Once you get here, there is basically no more physically demanding road, and the road to the top is also easy.

I met a fellow hiker on the way up the mountain. We climbed Mount Tai together and played together. Later, I met an older woman who brought two or three children with her. She climbed up step by step. I don’t know how long it has been since I felt how great a mother’s love is. I only know that mother’s love is that unreasonable climbing with children on the back and holding the children’s hands and not letting go! Like!

Due to the urgency of time, we took the cable car directly to Nantianmen.

The end of the Eighteen Bends is the South Gate of Heaven. Once you reach the South Gate, you will be cheering. The cable car reaches the highest point here. If you are willing, you can climb a few more steps to the Jade Emperor Peak. If you are not willing, you can still be considered to have climbed Mount Tai.

Zhang Zhichun (1220-1316), from Bu Shangbao, Tai'an Prefecture (now Anjiazhuang Town, Feicheng City), was a famous Taoist in the Yuan Dynasty. Zhang Zhichun started chanting sutras at the age of 6 and entered Taoism at the age of 12. He lived in Huizhen Palace at the foot of Mount Tai. His teacher Cui Daoyan was a disciple of Wang Chongyang. Zhang Zhichun was a Taoist master and served as the abbot of Dongyue Temple. Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty, bestowed upon him the titles of "Master Chongzhen Baode" and "Tian Ni" and granted him purple robes.

Xu Shilong praised Zhang Zhichun as "strong and clear as a crane, and vigorous as a dragon in old age". Zhang Zhichun passed away at the age of 96, chanting a verse:

Taking off the leather bag that gave me life from my mother, I feel happy and light-hearted.

He will give you a receipt, and when you come down after watching the sunrise, he will tell you that there is no change early in the morning, and then give you two broken bells.
