They can even call for a taxi. The tour buses run rampant on the narrow streets in the city, overtaking at will, and the safety is very poor.

To be honest, as a Northeasterner, I feel that Pingyao's architectural pattern is not as "bright" as the old houses in the Northeast. Perhaps this is precisely the reflection of Pingyao's glory when "every inch of land is worth a lot of money".

As a world cultural heritage, it still makes people yearn for it, and in fact, the sense of heaviness it carries is indeed incomparable to other ancient towns. In terms of the overall layout of Pingyao Ancient City, including the preserved historical attractions, it is very similar to the Langzhong Ancient City in Sichuan that I have visited before. But why Pingyao Ancient City can be selected as a world cultural heritage? First, I think it is its integrity, especially its well-preserved city walls; second, it witnessed the development of China's economy, society, culture, and religion during the Ming and Qing dynasties, which adds to its charm.



No vehicles from other places are allowed to enter Pingyao Ancient City. All self-driving cars must park in the parking lot outside the city. There are parking lots near several city gates. The overnight fee for a small car is 20 yuan/vehicle. The main tourist attractions and shopping and dining in the city are concentrated in South Street, East Street and West Street centered on the City Tower. Vehicles are prohibited from passing through these roads. In addition, environmentally friendly electric vehicles can be used in other streets and alleys in the city. They stop when you wave and can be taken to any other place in the city. The uniform price is 10 yuan/person/time. No tickets are required to enter Pingyao Ancient City. Tickets are only required to visit the attractions in the ancient city. Tickets are not sold separately for attractions. You must buy a joint ticket, which is 125 yuan/person. You can visit 22 attractions in the city. It is valid for three days, but you cannot go to all attractions again after visiting them once, including the city wall. It does not matter which gate you go to. Once you have been on it, you cannot go on it again.

When you come to Pingyao Ancient City, you must see several important attractions, Pingyao County Government, Rishengchang... Objectively speaking, Pingyao Ancient City is quite commercialized. I went there for the title of World Cultural Heritage, but I was very disappointed! The whole ancient city is a snack-selling scenic spot, with small shops everywhere... The scenic spots are separate and not together. Free tickets are provided with a tour guide certificate. If you go, I suggest you watch "See Pingyao Again", which is worth watching. In addition, you should pay attention to avoid battery cars in the scenic area. The speed is very fast, and they are justified in hitting tourists... In addition, there are helicopters above the scenic area. Interested friends can experience it and have a bird's eye view of the panoramic view of Pingyao Ancient City! There is nothing else to say. I just stayed for half a day and left in a hurry.
