Wuye Temple is right next to the south gate of Tayuan Temple. You can visit the Wuye Temple first.

There are several buildings in Wuye Temple, such as Wanfo Pavilion and Dragon King Hall. Because the Dragon King Laowu is enshrined in it, according to folk legend, there are five brothers of Dragon King, and this is the fifth one, so he is called Wuye. According to general practice, Dragon King does not live in Buddhist temples. Local dragon legends say that the Dragon King of Wutai Mountain is so prominent that he is not satisfied with his position and the temple is not at peace, so a hall was built to the west of the pavilion to enshrine him. So now it is called Wuye Temple.

Among them, the Wanfo Pavilion was built the earliest, in the Ming Dynasty, and the Dragon King Hall was the remnant after the Qing Dynasty reconstruction. Although it is from the Qing Dynasty, the column bases, bird tops, railings, brackets, arches, etc. are all carved with patterns of dragons, phoenixes, lions, unicorns, flowers, and figures, which are magnificent and brilliant. It looks like a handicraft with hollow interior, which is very beautiful. It is worth a visit

By Scholar's spirit |

The first temple we visited was Wuye Temple, which was founded in the Ming Dynasty and is adjacent to the Big White Pagoda. It was originally a temple affiliated to the Pagoda Courtyard Temple. Because there are more than 10,000 Buddha statues of various sizes enshrined in the temple, it is also known as the Ten Thousand Buddha Pavilion. It is said that Wuye is the incarnation of Manjusri Bodhisattva, the Dragon King, who enlightens the world, so a temple was built to worship him. Because Wuye likes to watch plays, he built the only stage in Wutai Mountain. The main buildings include Manjusri Hall, Five Dragon King Hall and the ancient stage, all of which are remains after the Qing Dynasty reconstruction.

By Longing for the distance |

The original name of Wuye Temple was Wanfo Pavilion. The temple faces north and south, with its back against the top of Beitai, the "roof of North China". There are buildings on the east, south and north sides of the temple. There are three main buildings, namely Manjusri Hall, Five Dragon King Hall and ancient theater.

Friends who are planning to come here, please note that you are not allowed to bring incense, robes or other things to the Wuye Temple. You just need to hold the incense in front of the temple and bow three times in four directions (without lighting the fire). You can go in with empty hands. You can see the Wuye sitting in the house in the temple at a glance. He looks very majestic even through the glass. Just line up with the crowd (the number of people determines it), kneel down and kowtow a few times, then bow to the other temples and you can leave.

Wuye Temple is located in Wanfo Pavilion. It is not a big temple, but it is very popular. It is said that the temple enshrines the fifth prince of the Dragon King of the East China Sea, who is in charge of wind, rain and wealth. Many people believe that burning incense and making wishes here is particularly effective.

Hello, the Wuye Temple is very popular. I hope your wishes will be granted!

By Mago Free Travel |

Entering the front yard from the small door on the right side of the Wuye Temple, you will see the side of the Wanfo Pavilion in the front yard. The Dragon King Hall on the central axis of the front yard of the Wulongwang Temple is unfortunately under maintenance and cannot be entered.

By Drunk in the Smoke |

That day was the first day of the lunar calendar, and there were many people burning incense. The main traffic roads were severely congested and the speed was far slower than walking.

When I was still far away, I could already see smoke floating in the air. When I got closer, I could see many people burning incense. I heard that people have to queue up to burn incense on the 15th day of the first lunar month because there are so many people coming to pray and make wishes.

It is said that making wishes at the Wuye Temple is very effective. I wanted to make a wish, but I felt that any wish I made would be too selfish, so I just burned some incense.

By The sun rises |

Wuye Temple is the most popular temple in Wutai Mountain. The sky is blue and the clouds are very clear. Mid-November is early winter, and the classic temple scenery with green trees and red walls is no longer visible, but the withered trees make the temples in Wutai Mountain more solemn and peaceful, and the heart seems to become easier to calm with the dim background. If you like to come to the temple to find peace, you should come in winter. Isn’t the temple supposed to make people feel peaceful?

I didn't take many photos in Wuye Temple, and there is nothing memorable. I only remember the long bell sound when I tapped the bronze plate. One by one, it was crisp and long, and every sound was pleasing to the ear.

By The road is too long |

There was an incense burner, and the fire was very strong. After waiting for a while, I saw them invite a master to burn incense. I heard them talk about how to burn incense and how to worship. I knew what was going on. I went to the small house next door to buy incense. They cost one hundred yuan each, and there were also various Buddha statues and ornaments. The ones that cost two hundred yuan were too expensive.

By Jin Shenle |

In fact, it was a bit of a rush. Many of us didn't understand what Wu Ye was, and we just went through this.

Here you can see the White Tower next to it, the angle is pretty good

The incense is too strong

By quiet |

Burning incense can only be done outside the temple, and burning incense inside the temple is prohibited. It was the Mid-Autumn Festival that day, and there were many people worshipping the Wuye Temple, but everyone lined up in an orderly manner and the speed was quite fast.

By Empty Mountains and Distant Valleys |

Before the sky was fully light, the Wuye Temple was already crowded with people, burning incense and worshipping Buddha, vying with each other to make and fulfill their wishes.

By GGGGGGUO |

Taking photos is prohibited inside the temple, so I just took some photos of the scenery outside. Wuye Temple is one of the most efficacious temples in Wutai Mountain. The tour guide said that Wuye will grant any wish. One person can make three wishes. There are very strict methods for burning incense, offering lights and worshiping, which were all taught by the tour guide. She said that if the method is not right, the gods will not accept your wish. After entering the Wuye Temple, I got goose bumps all over my body. I won’t go into the specific reasons. I knelt in front of the statue of Wuye and felt like I was going to cry. After telling him about my wish, I felt a lot more relieved.

The temple is crowded with pilgrims.

I can smell the incense from miles away.

Wuye Temple is also known as "Wanfo Pavilion". It is a very famous temple in Wutai Mountain. The temple is dedicated to Namo Guangji Dragon King Bodhisattva. The temple is very popular, whether it is to make a wish or to fulfill a wish, there is an endless stream of people. Wuye likes to watch plays, so there is a stage opposite the main hall of the temple, which is specially built for pilgrims and believers who come to fulfill their wishes. The incense is very popular. Before the door is opened, the pilgrims outside have already surrounded the door in three layers inside and outside, waiting for the door to open and rushing in directly. Here I want to remind everyone not to ask for incense from the small house at the door, otherwise you can't get out without a few hundred yuan. And don't let the villagers at the door teach you how to burn incense and worship, otherwise you can't solve the problem without paying money. The temple provides free incense. If there are too many people and you can't go in, you can burn incense and worship at the door. If you are sincere, it will work.

Wuye Temple is a small Dragon King Temple, also known as the Ten Thousand Buddha Pavilion. It is one of the most popular and famous temples in Wutai Mountain.

Legend has it that Manjusri Bodhisattva borrowed the Cooling Stone from the Dragon King of the East China Sea to make Mount Wutai cool and pleasant, and the five sons of the Dragon King found out and followed him to Mount Wutai, slashing the mountain into platforms to get the Cooling Stone back. Bodhisattva subdued the five little dragon kings and let them live on the top of five platforms. The five dragon kings were placed on the highest North Platform, in charge of cultivating clouds and sowing rain on Mount Wutai.

Wuye Temple is the most famous and popular temple in Mount Wutai. On the first and fifteenth day of every lunar month, there is an endless stream of believers and men and women who come to worship. Over time, a series of activities have been formed, such as praying for rain, singing operas, and going to the market.

Wuye Temple is also called Wanfo Pavilion. The courtyard on the east side of the mountain gate of Tayuan Temple is Wanfo Pavilion. Most temples have archways, mountain gates and other buildings in front of the temple, but Wanfo Pavilion does not. It turns out that Wanfo Pavilion is a temple affiliated to Tayuan Temple, not an independent temple, so it does not have its own mountain gate and archway. Wanfo Pavilion was founded in the Ming Dynasty, and most of the current buildings are remains after the Qing Dynasty reconstruction. There are three main buildings, one is Wenshu Hall, the second is Wulongwang Hall, and the third is the ancient stage. This is the most popular temple in the entire Wutai Mountain.

There is a reason why Wuye Temple is so popular, because it is very effective. I made a wish here last year and I fulfilled it this year.

The scenery is nice and the incense is very popular. But I feel that the whole Wuye Temple has a strong commercial atmosphere. The incense request area at the entrance is full of tour groups bringing in tourists, and the waiters will seriously introduce incense and lotus lanterns of various prices. I suggest that everyone should choose according to their own ability and be sincere. I also hope that the relevant departments will regulate it.

This is undoubtedly the most popular temple in Taihuai Town. There are "balls" hanging everywhere, and it is crowded with greedy pilgrims. There are many people queuing up to worship. You can often hear people around saying "Please ask the Buddha to give me free shipping and big dishes". People line up to pray for wealth on this side, and a big show is performed on the other side. A "wish fulfillment show" costs 30,000. "Buddhist Pure Land", hehe. Stop and look at the "demons and monsters" around you. Hehe.

Wuye Temple is a building facing north and south, also known as the Five Dragon Kings Temple. Wuye Temple was founded in the Qing Dynasty, and when it was rebuilt during the Republic of China, a front yard was added outside the temple.

The Hall of the Five Dragon Kings in the Wuye Temple in Shanxi Province originally had a hip roof. When it was rebuilt in 1917, it was changed to a single-eaved hip roof, with four corridors, five ridges and six beasts, a bronze pagoda on the main ridge, a hip porch in front, and carved beams and painted buildings, which are gorgeous and colorful.

Wuye Temple is also known as Wulongwang Hall, and its official name is Wanfo Pavilion. It is a subsidiary temple of Tayuan Temple, and its entrance is on the east side of Tayuan Temple. When you walk to Tayuan Temple, the first thing you see is the big white pagoda, but what attracts the most attention is the white smoke billowing in the east and the security guards with guns stationed at the entrance of Wuye Temple.

It is a Dragon King Temple. There are very few temples that worship the Dragon King. This is also a feature of Mount Wutai. You can check the specific reasons yourself. Whether it is off-season or peak season, there are especially many people in the morning. It is said that the wishes of the first person to kneel down and worship can be fulfilled.

The Wanfo Pavilion (Wuye Temple) was built in the Ming Dynasty, and most of the existing temples were built in the Qing Dynasty. Because there are thousands of small clay Buddha statues on the east side of the temple, it is called the Wanfo Pavilion; and because the temple enshrines the Five Dragon Kings, it is also called the Wuye Temple.

Free admission, the Five Dragon Kings Hall is an ancient building with plaques covering the entire beam, and the incense is very strong

Wuye Temple is a temple in Mount Wutai. Originally named Wanfo Pavilion, it was a temple affiliated to Pagoda Temple, adjacent to the Big White Pagoda, and another path leading to Xiantong Temple. The area in front of the temple is open, and it was the palace where the emperors of the Qing Dynasty went to court, sleep and feast, commonly known as the "Imperial City". Between the "Imperial City" and Wuye Temple, tens of thousands of pilgrims and worshippers flock all year round.

There are many believers who come to burn incense before dawn in the morning. I heard it is very effective. I have been there twice.

By Pratyekabuddha |

The first time I came to this temple, I didn't ask for anything, I just came to visit and take pictures. The 30-minute tour was very rushed, and I just took pictures. People come here to ask for various blessings. I know Buddhism very well, so I no longer ask for blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Destiny is determined by oneself, which is the most important foundation for life. There is a Buddhist book "Destiny is Determined by Oneself" on the Internet. I suggest you download it and read it. I finished it very quickly, but the principles it tells you have been passed down for thousands of years.

By StifanO |

During the peak tourist season, the temple provides free incense for pilgrims to burn, and three incense sticks are used to pay respect to the Buddha. The Dragon King has the ability to make clouds and rain, and after Wu Ye was accepted as a Dharma protector by Manjusri Bodhisattva, he is more willing to save sentient beings. Therefore, asking the Dragon King for blessings for whatever you want is also a good and convenient method.

During the off-season, you don't have to queue up after noon. There is no such thing as burning incense and kowtowing after noon.

The most popular temple in Mount Wutai is actually a Dragon King Temple, which is said to be the most efficacious temple in Mount Wutai - Wuye Temple. Located in the southeast of Tayuan Temple in Taihuai Town, it was first built in the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. There are three main buildings: the ancient stage, the Five Dragon King Hall and the ancient stage. Among them, the Five Dragon King Hall was built in the Qing Dynasty. Unlike the custom that the Dragon King God does not live in a Buddhist temple, the hall enshrines the golden-faced Five Dragon King, a unique statue in Mount Wutai, commonly known as Wuye. It is said that the Dragon King likes to watch plays, so there is an old stage with a long history opposite the Five Lords Hall, on which Zhiyangge, a local opera, is performed every day. It is said that Wuye likes to watch plays, so pilgrims who come to fulfill their vows will donate money to ask the troupe to sing a few songs to express their gratitude to the gods.

It is said that Wu Ye will answer any prayer, so the incense is very popular. Even outside, the incense is lingering. There is a long queue of people burning incense in the temple. Some people can't wait to kneel down and kowtow in the open space. It is said that Wu Ye likes to watch plays, so there is a stage opposite the statue, where Jin Opera is about to be performed. The gongs and drums are beating, but the pilgrims and tourists are unmoved. No one pays attention to the stage. All their attention is on Wu Ye. The actors had to go off the stage. For a while, they even danced "Little Apple". The interesting thing is that no matter how the actors tossed, they could not attract everyone. I thought this Wu Ye was Yang Wulang in the Northern Song Dynasty Yang Family Generals. He became a monk in Mount Wutai, but the stone tablet says that Wu Ye is the fifth son of the Dragon King. Who is wrong?

By Swimming fish |

At 7:40, we officially arrived at the Wuye Temple. We were stopped when we entered the temple. We were not allowed to bring incense into the temple. We could burn incense in the small square outside the temple. The picture below is the small square outside the temple. It was crowded with people. This is where we saw the most people on this trip. Everyone burned a large bundle of incense, and devoutly squeezed into the crowd to light the incense, then bowed to the east, south, west, north, and finally knelt down and kowtowed, and put all the incense into a large incense burner. The merit was fulfilled. So the whole square was filled with smoke and the incense was prosperous!

Popular science:

The building facing south and sitting north behind the square is the famous Five Dragon Kings Hall, commonly known as the Wuye Temple. The Wuye Temple was founded in the Qing Dynasty. When it was rebuilt during the Republic of China, a front yard was added. Generally, Buddhist temples do not worship the Dragon King. Why did Mount Wutai build the Dragon King Hall? This starts with the myth that Manjusri Bodhisattva cleverly borrowed the Dragon Stone from the Dragon King of the East China Sea. Long ago, the Wutai Mountain area was not a cool place, but a hot and unbearable place. The local people suffered greatly. The wise Manjusri Bodhisattva, who specialized in solving people's problems, cleverly borrowed a piece of cool stone from the Dragon King of the East China Sea. From then on, Mount Wutai became cool and pleasant, and became a summer resort. The cool gem was originally used by the five sons of the Dragon King to drive away the heat and cool down after sowing clouds and rain. When they found that the cool gem was brought to Mount Wutai by Manjusri Bodhisattva, they followed and made a big fuss in Mount Wutai, cutting the five steep peaks like swords into five platforms to get the cool stone back. But Manjusri Bodhisattva had boundless power after all, and he quickly subdued the five little dragon kings and let them live on the tops of the five platforms. The five dragon kings were placed on the highest northern platform, in charge of cultivating clouds and sowing rain in Mount Wutai. People were grateful for his contribution to the Wutai area, so it was natural to build a temple and statues for the five dragon kings to worship them. The five dragon kings lived in the center of the temple, with the big dragon king, the second dragon king, and the dragon mother on the left, and the rain master, the third dragon king, and the fourth dragon king on the right. It is said that the five dragon kings used to have black faces, but why do we see them with golden faces? This is because of Buddhist rumors that the prince has a violent temper and will lose his temper if he is not served well. Changing his face from black to gold has made the five dragon kings milder.

The most important thing is that people say that the "Wuye Temple" is the most spiritual, and devout believers and kind people will come here to burn incense.

The landmark building of Mount Wutai, the White Pagoda, seems to be of the same category as the White Pagoda in Beijing. It is a holy place for Han and Tibetan Buddhism with extremely high religious beliefs. Standing at its feet, I seem to feel my own insignificance. Perhaps this is the benefit of traveling, which allows you to constantly re-recognize yourself and position yourself.

By Bitter Citrus aurantium is not bitter |

I went to Mount Wutai with a group for a two-day tour. On the last day, I went to the Wuye Temple at around 5 a.m. Because I wanted to show my piety, I had to wait in front of the temple before it opened. There were quite a lot of people that day. I thought I went quite early, but I found that so many people had already arrived. Before entering the temple, the tour guide took me to the incense shop with due diligence, based on the principle that it was stupid not to make money from tourists and it was really stupid not to take tourists to consume. It was not surprising that it was very expensive. The cheapest one was 99, and the most expensive family portrait seemed to be 300. In fact, one person can't burn so many incense sticks. A large handful of them should be burned in front of the incense burner before entering the temple, and many of them should be left there afterwards. Although I don't believe in Buddhism, I still know the minimum respect~ The Wuye Temple is very small, but the surrounding environment is really good. I went around the temple and found that there were people holding incense around me. It is very easy to stand in the direction of their incense (you need to worship in the four directions of southeast, northwest, and northeast). This is very embarrassing, at least for me, so I left first. It was only 6:30 in the morning, the sky was particularly blue, and I could see the snow on the snowy mountains. The air was a little cold, but it was a leisurely walk for a person.

Pictures will be uploaded later. When the tour guide takes you to buy [incense and candles], don't believe it. There are many incense and candles sellers next to the Wuye Temple, and they are very cheap. Just go to the Wuye Temple to buy them. The place where the tour guide takes you. The incense and candle sellers tell you that the more expensive the price is, the more respect you have for the Buddha, the greater your kindness, the greater the blessings you will get, etc., etc. They are lying to the Buddha and Bodhisattva! According to this, the rich should become richer and richer, and the incense they burn will become more and more expensive. . . Ordinary people, shouldn't believe in Buddha and Bodhisattva? ! That's not the case! Buddha and Bodhisattva also distinguish believers and divide them into different levels to see who is rich and who is poor? The rich will help, and the poor should get out of the way? I have been to the Wuye Temple. The tour guide took me to the place where incense and candles were sold. I bought incense and candles myself, the incense was 700, and the cheapest candle was 100. When I got there, I realized that I was cheated. I thought to myself, it's the same to burn incense, why not give alms, why not donate money to help others? In that way, you still think you are kinder, at least you won't feel so stupid and be fooled! And even if you buy incense and candles, does that money have to be given to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to save all living beings? It doesn't necessarily benefit [who]?! If you donate your money to someone in need, even if you donate only ten or eight yuan, you don't rely on this money to get rich, accumulate virtue in daily life...

The famous Five Dragon Kings Temple is a symbol of the fulfillment of all wishes. It is said that wishes made in the Wuye Temple will come true in three years. Burning incense in the early morning is the most spiritual, so the courtyard of the Wuye Temple is crowded with pilgrims from 4 to 9 in the morning.

After visiting the Bodhisattva Peak, drive to the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. Wuye Temple, Tayuan Temple, and Xiantong Temple are all concentrated in this area. Wuye Temple is the most popular temple with the most effective wishes, so many people come to Mount Wutai mainly to make wishes and pray. The Wuye enshrined in the temple is the honorific title of Guangji Dragon King Manjusri Bodhisattva, and is also the incarnation of Wutai Mountain Wuding Manjusri Bodhisattva. It assumes the function of a folk god and embodies the wishes of local people for good weather, peace and good fortune. The small Wuye Temple, in the minds of good men and women, has become a symbol of responsiveness and peace, and it has become a business card of Mount Wutai. Although the temple is not big, it is the most effective, so it must be given five stars.

The No.1 must-worship temple in Taihuai Town. It opened at 6:30 am on Qingming Festival in 2016. There were already many people queuing up at 6 am. There are two doors on the left and right to enter (early in the morning). The queue in the middle of the temple on that day was too slow. There were also people queuing on both sides. The speed could be faster. Those who can't rush can only queue slowly. We didn't worship Wuye until about 8 o'clock, which should be considered slow. There are many plaques presented by disciples in Wuye Temple, and they all say that Wuye Temple is very effective.

The tour guide said that when you worship, you should put your hands together, recite the name of the Bodhisattva you are worshipping, introduce yourself, what your wish is, and thank the Bodhisattva. Then, kowtow to the Bodhisattva three times, support the mat with your right hand, kneel on both knees, and then support the mat with your left hand. When you kowtow, turn your palm upwards. Then, first raise your left hand, then your knees, and finally your right hand. Repeat this three times, which is actually three bows and nine kowtows. Finally, stand up and take a step back, and worship the Bodhisattva three times to express your gratitude.

Buy incense outside the temple after worshipping (there are special shops)

【Correct order of burning incense】

Hold the incense in your left hand and light it, but do not blow it with your mouth. (You can dip it in some wax oil before lighting it) Stand on the lotus (the floor tiles outside the Wuye Temple) with both feet, first worship the direction of the Wuye Temple, and then worship in four clockwise directions. Finally, throw the incense into the incense burner.

There are so many people burning incense, it is very commercialized, the vendors around the incense burners are annoying, don't make eye contact with them, believe me!!! But you can also meet real pilgrims, if you want to visit the real ancient temple (atmosphere), just keep walking towards the path into the mountain...

As a scenic spot in my hometown, it is still recommended. However, there is no special food in Shanxi as a whole. The restaurants in Wutai Mountain are even more rip-offs, especially for outsiders. They can't bear a bite, so it is recommended that you bring your own dry food. The words of Wuye Temple are very effective. The Wuye Temple is free. As soon as you come in, you can see a cute little door. It is very characteristic of Shanxi. I really like such objects with a sense of age.

Today is a good day, not only the weather is good, but also there is a stage for Wuye Temple to perform opera. The temple of Manjusri Bodhisattva is also enshrined in the temple. From left to right, there are the compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva, the wise Manjusri Bodhisattva in the middle, and the great Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. The decoration inside is very delicate, and each piece is a handicraft. You can't take pictures in the temple, so you can only come by yourself if you want to see it.

Under the corridor outside the temple hangs a very old wooden dragon sculpture, which looks like it should be priceless. In the front hall of the main hall, pilgrims lined up in an orderly manner to worship Buddha and burn incense. It can be seen that it is a good thing to have some faith. At least everyone has a bottom line in their hearts. It is very rare to see here. There are so many people, and there are no staff to maintain order. Everyone lines up to burn incense by themselves. The power of faith is very strong.
