Yongzuo Temple

Yongzuo Temple was founded in 1599. The temple was built against the mountain, facing south and north, and consists of three parts: the front yard, the back yard, and the pagoda yard.
The pagoda courtyard now has twin pagodas, a hall and a back hall. The back yard now has the main hall, the Three Saints Pavilion, a meditation hall, and abbot's room.
The main hall of the Shuangta Temple is a brick-built imitation wood building. The entire building has no beams or wood, and is made entirely of bricks, with delicate and generous brick carvings.
Throughout the ages, the twin towers of Yongzuo Temple have attracted worldwide attention and are known as the "Jinyang Wonder" and the symbol of Taiyuan. Local chronicles of all dynasties have listed the "Lingxiao Twin Towers" as one of the eight scenic spots of ancient Taiyuan City.

It must be a five-point attraction. Even during the Qingming Festival holiday, there were not many people. It's not that it's not famous, but people probably don't bother to come. After all, Jin Temple and other places are more famous and you can enjoy the sights with fewer people. The plum blossoms in the garden are in full bloom, but because it's too early in the morning, the peonies are not all over the garden. The twin towers are indeed extraordinary, and you can climb up to the stupa to see the view from afar. If you are interested, you must come. Don't miss it when you are in Taiyuan.

For more than 400 years, the twin towers of Yongzuo Temple have been the landmark of Taiyuan. The twin brick towers were not actually built at the same time. One is a Fengshui tower, and the other is a stupa. Both are eight-sided and thirteen-story, with a height difference of 2 cm. The Xuanwen stupa is placed on the top of a treasure bottle, and each layer is trimmed with peacock blue glazed tiles. Under the setting sun, the eyebrows and eyes are like a painting. Peonies are planted all over the temple, and there is a relic from the Ming Dynasty, named Zixiaxian.

It's a decent attraction with convenient transportation. You can take the bus directly to the entrance of the attraction. The ticket is not expensive, 20 yuan. There are only two sights worth seeing, the Main Hall and the Twin Pagodas. You can climb up one of the twin towers. The passage inside is narrow and can only accommodate one person. The brick surface inside is densely carved by tourists. It's disgusting. They don't care about cultural relics at all.

Shuangta Temple, a famous temple in Shanxi, was originally named Yongzuo Temple. It is located in the southeast of Taiyuan City, at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain in the south of Haozhuang Village, about four kilometers from the city center. Here, there are green trees and red walls, pagodas and Buddhist temples, exquisite niches and pavilions, steles and tablets, fragrant flowers, green pines and cypresses, solemn and quiet, and ancient. It was built in the 36th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1608 AD). The twin towers are octagonal in plan, with a height of 7 meters at the bottom, and each floor decreases regularly from bottom to top, with a total of 13 floors, a total height of 54.85 meters, and the tower body is all brick and stone structure. It is not far from the railway station.

Yongzuo Temple is also known as the Twin Pagodas Temple. Needless to say, it is famous for its twin towers. Yongzuo Temple was founded in the 27th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, with a history of more than 400 years. Both towers are 13-story, eight-sided hollow towers, more than 54 meters high. The ticket to Yongzuo Temple is 30 yuan, and you can climb to the 11th floor of the Xuanwen Tower. The entire scenic area takes two to three hours to visit.

The temple was built along the mountain, and the corridors are well-arranged. Xuanwen Tower was built a little later, 54.78 meters high, a hollow tower that can be climbed to the eleventh floor. The walls of the walkway inside the tower are decorated with colored glaze, which shows the care and refinement of the construction at that time. When we are in it, touching the ancient bricks and colored glaze, we can feel the weight of history, as if we have traveled back to ancient times.

By Flight |

We went there in mid to late October. There was a large area under renovation and the road to the twin towers was blocked, so we ended up taking a long detour to get in.

The building, which was built in the Ming Dynasty, has a beautiful shape, but unfortunately there are many scratches on the bricks and stones left by uncivilized tourists.

The twin towers are really beautiful and look great against the backdrop of Taiyuan’s blue sky and white clouds.

Worth a visit.

Yongzuo Temple, also known as the Twin Pagodas Temple, was first built during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty. It has a history of about 425 years and is a landmark building in Taiyuan. As soon as you enter the Twin Pagodas Park, you can see the Twin Pagodas of Yongzuo Temple. The Twin Pagodas of Yongzuo Temple, also known as the Lingxiao Twin Pagodas, are the tallest existing ancient buildings in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province. The word "Yongzuo" comes from the sentence "The gentleman will live for ten thousand years, and the prosperity will last forever" in the Book of Songs, Daya, and Jizui, which means "to be passed down forever and inexhaustible for all generations."

After experiencing the charm of "Mengshan Xiaoyue", one of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Taiyuan", we went to Yongzuo Temple to see the elegance of "Twin Towers Lingxiao". The Twin Towers of Yongzuo Temple are the tallest ancient buildings in Taiyuan and a well-known landmark of Taiyuan. The tall and majestic twin towers are like a pair of swords piercing the sky. In one day, we visited Mengshan Lianli Tower and Yongzuo Temple Twin Towers. It seems that Taiyuan has a special liking for the twin towers. Yongzuo Temple was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, with a history of more than 400 years. "Yongzuo" means "eternal transmission, inexhaustible for all generations". Yongzuo Temple is not only a highlight of the twin towers, but also has many things worth studying. The mountain gate is exquisite, and the three words "Yongzuo Temple" written on it are from the hands of Master Qi Gong. The structure is rigorous and unrestrained. The main hall, the Three Saints Pavilion, the side hall, the guest hall, etc. are all relics of the Ming Dynasty, typical "beamless hall" buildings of the Ming Dynasty.

Yongzuo Temple, commonly known as the Twin Pagodas Temple, is a national key cultural relic protection site located in Haozhuang, Yingze District, Taiyuan City. It was first built in the 27th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1599), and most of the buildings are from the Ming Dynasty. The "Twin Pagodas" is one of the eight scenic spots in Taiyuan.

It is very convenient to go directly by bus, and when we go back in the afternoon, there are elementary school student volunteer guides to give explanations in the scenic area. It is worth listening to. They popularized the Feng Shui tower and the children were great.

It's a pity that I didn't come during the peony season in April and May. There is a peony field and a peony left over from the Ming Dynasty. I forgot its name. I want to see it in bloom.

There is currently one tower that can be climbed. The stairs are steep and the rest area between floors is narrow. It is quite strenuous to climb, but you can experience it.

Shuangta Temple is also known as Yongzuo Temple. It was partially under maintenance when I went there. The ticket price is 30. One of the twin towers inside is open and you can climb to the top. It is about 12 floors. The tower is 13 floors high.

By Arslan |

Although Taiyuan's landmark buildings are famous, they are still inferior to some of the less famous attractions in the surrounding areas in terms of features.

By Leather Hill |

Shuangta Temple, originally named "Yongzuo Temple", is called Shuangta Temple because the two ancient pagodas in the temple are so famous.

The ticket is 30, the attraction is not big and can be visited in about 2 hours.

It was close to the 11th, so there weren't many people inside, which was nice. Maybe everyone went to the more famous Jin Temple.

Although the twin towers are close to each other, they were not built at the same time.

On the right is Wenfeng Tower, built in the 27th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty.

The Xuanwen Pagoda on the left was built in the 39th year of the Wanli reign. It is a typical pavilion-style hollow brick pagoda. It is a religious building that enshrines relics and stores Buddhist scriptures and is revered by Buddhist disciples.

By Nagashino |

Also known as Yongzuo Temple, it has a great name. You can climb to the top of one of the towers, but it is best to bring a selfie stick because you cannot see outside when standing on the top floor and you have to lie down.

By China-TravelNote users |

The twin towers of Yongzuo Temple are octagonal pavilion-style 13-story hollow towers, also known as Lingxiao Twin Towers, also known as Wenbi Twin Towers. Wenfeng Tower is a Fengshui tower, located in the southeast corner of the tower courtyard. It was built by Fu Shan's grandfather Fu Lin in the 27th year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1599 AD). The reason for the construction was to make up for the terrain of Taiyuan, which was "high in the northwest and low in the southeast", to "open up the mountains and rivers and create the prosperity of literature". Wenfeng Tower is 54.76 meters high. It is an octagonal 13-story hollow tower brick tower. Xuanwen Pagoda was built by Master Miaofeng, the abbot of Xiantong Temple in Wutai Mountain, in the 36th year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1608 AD). It is also called the Relic Pagoda because it is said that there are Buddhist relics in the tower. Xuanwen Pagoda is octagonal in plan, with 13 floors. The side length of the bottom floor is 4.6 meters, and the total height of the whole pagoda is 54.78 meters. It is a typical pavilion-style hollow brick pagoda. The pagoda base is built with sandstone, which is simple and solid. The pagoda body is built with blue bricks grinded and butted. The dou, eaves, beams and rafters on the pagoda are all made of blue bricks imitating wooden structures. The eaves of the pagoda are built with peacock blue glazed tiles to create a crystal-clear and beautiful edge. The pagoda can be climbed, and the four small windows overlook the various places in Taiyuan. The Mahavira Hall, the Abbot's Courtyard and the Three Saints Pavilion in the temple are similar in style. They are all Ming and Qing brick imitation wooden structures with fine carvings. The brick eaves have high beaks, like a roc spreading its wings and raising its head to fly, and it is known as the "flying pavilion without beams". There is a huge brick-carved caisson on the top of the center of the Three Saints Pavilion, which looks like a wooden structure. The brackets are protruding and stacked up layer by layer to form a dome roof, like a canopy, gorgeous and exquisite, and a treasure among the beamless pavilions. The rear hall and the hall are relatively simple. The twin towers now collect and protect more than 260 valuable steles and stone carvings, including one of the only remaining "Reminiscence of the Red Cliff", which has not been seen due to renovation. There is a peony garden in the temple that is more than 400 years old, with many varieties, but it was not seen because it was not in bloom.

By Wandering Potatoes |

Xuanwen Tower is open to the public, and visitors can climb up to the top of the tower. However, after reaching the top, you will find that all the windows are fenced off, probably for safety reasons, so you cannot see the beautiful scenery of Taiyuan City. Between the two towers stands a stone tablet with the words "Twin Towers Reaching the Sky", which is one of the eight scenic spots in ancient Taiyuan!

Adults are 30 yuan, students are half price. I looked at the twin towers. There is a tower that can be climbed up. It seems to be 179 steps. It is a bit dark. You can't go out on each floor. You can only climb up. There is a railing that is locked. If you want to take pictures, you have to squat, walk to the window, take a picture of the outside, and then squat back. Be careful not to hit your head! The rest is really nothing!

The Lingxiao Twin Towers also have another beautiful nickname - Wenbi Twin Peaks. The twin towers are majestic and beautiful, and are the tallest twin towers in my country.

The twin towers of Yongzuo Temple are the symbol of Taiyuan City. They are located on a mountain and can be seen from afar in Taiyuan City. Some of the buildings of the current Yongzuo Temple were rebuilt in recent years. The real ancient buildings mainly include the Main Hall and the twin towers. The Main Hall is a two-eaved pavilion-style imitation wood building. The columns, eaves, and brackets are made of blue bricks. There are no nails or wood. It is a treasure among the beamless buildings in my country. The twin towers are more than 50 meters high, one in the south and one in the north. Like the Main Hall, they are also brick-built imitation wood buildings. There are stairs inside the twin towers. Yongzuo Temple, commonly known as the Twin Pagodas Temple. Founded in 1599 (the 27th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty), it was originally named Yongming Temple. During the war years, the ancient temple experienced many vicissitudes. By the end of the Republic of China, it was already devastated and covered with scars. After the founding of New China, it was repaired many times. Yongzuo Temple has a relatively large parking lot, but it is a bit messy. Fortunately, there are not many cars and no one charges. The ticket is 30 yuan per person. The ticket seller directly threw out my parents' ID cards and said that it was free and I could enter directly with my ID card. Ah, it is free for people over 60 years old. Isn't it generally free for people over 70 years old? I am a little confused. If you don't want to pay, then don't pay. Inside is the Twin Pagodas, you can go up as long as you are not afraid of the dark or tired. You can have a panoramic view of Taiyuan.

The first stop when I came to Taiyuan was Yongzuo Temple. Taiyuan locals call it Shuangta Temple. I went there in April 2016, just in time for the road construction and infrastructure construction in the surrounding area. The bus routes recommended by Baidu Maps were all wrong and had not been updated, so I had to go around a lot before I found it.

I think the Twin Pagodas Temple will have a deeper impression if you go there in the afternoon. There are not many tourists and the bells of the pagodas ring with the wind, which feels great.

This is my first time to climb the ancient towers of Ming Dynasty. The twin towers are very beautiful. The whole body is made of brick and stone. The eaves of the towers are covered with blue glazed tiles. They are full of spiritual beauty. Yongzuo Temple, commonly known as Shuangta Temple, is located on the southern hill of Haozhuang Village, about 3 kilometers southeast of Taiyuan city.

Yongzuo Temple was founded in 1599 (the 27th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty) and was originally named Yongming Temple. In 1608, the eminent monk Miaofeng of Mount Wutai continued to build it and renamed it Yongzuo Temple. In the early Qing Dynasty, the mountain gate was built, and the Zen hall and palaces were improved, forming a small-scale temple.

The twin towers, praised by the ancients as "twin towers reaching the sky" and "twin peaks of literature and art", are the most eye-catching landscape in Yongzuo Temple.

The twin towers stand tall and straight into the sky, majestically standing on the land of Jinyang. Because they are located on a high mountain, people can see them from afar before entering Taiyuan City. Therefore, they have been the symbol of Taiyuan City for many years.

The twin towers have a history of nearly 400 years. The old tower in the temple was originally named Wenfeng Tower, which was built in 1599 (the 27th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty); the new tower was built by Monk Miaofeng nine years later, and after completion, it was called Xuanwen Tower together with the old tower.

The ticket cost 20 yuan. I walked around the temple and saw almost no tourists.

The Twin Towers are landmark buildings in Taiyuan. From the city emblem in the 1980s to the recent logo of Taiyuan Metro, they are all marked by them. The Yongzuo Temple where it is located was built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It was specially built for the Empress Dowager at that time to pray for blessings. At present, most of the main buildings in the temple were also built in the Ming Dynasty. Among them, the main hall, the Wuliang Hall, has the same appearance as the Wuliang Hall of Nanjing Linggu Temple, Wutai Mountain Xiantong Temple, and Suzhou Kaiyuan Temple. They are all typical Ming Dynasty brick arch structures. There are a large number of peonies planted in the temple, including dozens of original ones planted in the Ming Dynasty. In spring, the peonies bloom together and are very beautiful. There is a stele corridor under the tower, which is said to have collected calligraphy works of famous masters from the Wei and Jin Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which is worth appreciating. The tower on the west side of the Twin Towers can be climbed. The stairs in the tower are narrow and dimly lit, so be careful when climbing.

It is not easy to get a taxi nearby. In order to save time, I chartered a car to come here. The temple was built in 1599. It is also called Shuangta Temple because there are two high towers built in the late Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. In addition to the twin towers, there are two major attractions in the temple. One is the cave-style building Daxiong Hall, which is not built with a single piece of wood, but the purple peony flower with a history of more than 400 years (in fact, it is far inferior to the white peony of the Tang Dynasty on the cliff of Yinping Mountain in Chaohu, Hefei, which is more than 1,000 years old. It cannot predict the cold, warm, drought and flood of a year. There are no cliff carvings in the Song, Ming and Qing Dynasties, and it is not so beautiful.) The temple and the surrounding area are relatively dilapidated. This place was in many movies during the reign of Yan Xishan. When Xu Xiangqian commanded the People's Liberation Army to attack Taiyuan, extremely fierce battles took place on the nearby hills. Among all the sieges of the People's Liberation Army in the War of Liberation, the Battle of Taiyuan was the longest and most difficult one. There is also a martyrs' cemetery nearby where the PLA officers and soldiers who died in the Taiyuan Campaign are buried.

Yongzuo Temple, first built in the Ming Dynasty, is commonly known as the Twin Pagodas Temple and is one of the iconic sights of Taiyuan. The biggest attraction in the temple is the twin towers, both 54 meters high, which tourists can climb to visit.

In fact, it is just to see the landmark buildings in Taiyuan, and it is not particularly recommended to buy tickets to enter.

The twin towers are very beautiful, and you can climb the towers, which is very nice. It is recommended to go there when the peony flowers are in bloom, it should be more beautiful.

The location is not very remote, tickets are free for people over 60 years old, and students can enter at half price. One of the twin towers can be entered. The Twin Pagoda Temple is very large and worth visiting.

I really liked it when I saw it (because I was a little disappointed when I came to Taiyuan. As a famous cultural city with a history of more than 4,000 years, there is basically no trace of the ancient city in the urban area). The temple, which was built in the Ming Dynasty, is well preserved. Because it is a brick and earth imitation wood structure, it has not been seriously damaged. The ancient brick wall feels great.

This is the only scenic spot I chose in Taiyuan besides Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital. I was not disappointed. Since it was Monday, the whole scenic area seemed to be reserved by me, and there was no tourist. The scenic area is mainly divided into two parts. One part is the temple part of Yongzuo Temple, such as the main hall, the abbot's room, etc. The other part is the twin towers: Xuanwen Tower and Wenfeng Tower. In the main hall, there was an old lady muttering scriptures and walking around the Buddha niche alone. I didn't dare to disturb this solemnity, so I just watched quietly at the door. After about 10 minutes, the chanting was finished, the old lady turned on the recorded scriptures to continue playing, walked out of the hall, and ended the ceremony. At present, Xuanwen Tower in the Twin Towers area can be climbed. The rotating stone staircase can basically only accommodate one person up and down. The stairs are narrow and steep, and can go all the way to the top of the tower. There are many peonies planted in the scenic area, but this is not the season for viewing. It must be more beautiful when it is in full bloom. See the pictures for others. Fortunately, there was a lazy sun that day, which added a lot of color.

It's a very old temple, but it was closed when we got there. However, it looks beautiful from the outside.

Yongzuo Temple is located on the east side of Taiyuan City, not far from the railway station. Yongzuo Temple is famous for its twin towers, so it is also called Shuangta Temple. Yongzuo Temple was built in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, but now the temple no longer exists, leaving only the main hall and temple relics such as Buddha statues, and no longer engages in Buddhist activities. The twin towers are behind Yongzuo Temple and can only be reached by climbing stairs. The Wenfeng Tower in the twin towers can still be climbed, but the steps are narrow and the interior is not decorated much. The Xuanwen Tower cannot be climbed and the gate is locked. Yongzuo Temple is also famous for its peonies, and hundreds of peonies are planted beside the twin towers. The road around Yongzuo Temple is under construction, and Shuangta Road is no longer accessible. You must enter the temple from the east from the East Fourth Ring Road. The ticket for Yongzuo Temple is 30 yuan, and you can complete the tour in half an hour.

There is a road under construction near Yongzuo Temple. The scenic area is very quiet and there are few people. In addition to the twin towers, there is also a beamless hall that you can go and see.

By I haven't thought about it yet. |

It feels like a place where local grandpas and aunts do morning exercises. I went there on weekdays and basically didn't see other tourists. The park is not very big. Yongzuo Temple was founded in 1599 (the 27th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty) and was originally named Yongming Temple. In 1608 (the 36th year of Wanli), the monk Miaofeng (Fudeng) of Mount Wutai was ordered to continue the construction and changed its name to Yongzuo Temple. In the early Qing Dynasty, the mountain gate was built, the Zen hall and the palace were improved, and a small-scale temple was formed. However, during the war years, the ancient temple had experienced vicissitudes. By the end of the Republic of China, it was devastated and covered with scars. After the founding of New China, it has been repaired many times. A new stele corridor was built, the front yard was imitated, and peonies were planted, giving the ancient temple a new look.

Yongzuo Temple, also known as Shuangta Temple, is less than two kilometers away from Taiyuan Railway Station. The streets near Yongzuo Temple are closed for maintenance. It takes about one kilometer of dirt road to take a taxi, so it is recommended to walk directly from the railway station. The current ticket price is 30 yuan, and the visiting time is 8:00-17:30. There are not too many people. There is a large open space under the main entrance of Yongzuo Temple. It is blocked by barbed wire and is a large freight station. When you walk, don't walk on the open space. Face the main entrance and walk up the leftmost road. When you reach the door, don't rush to go up the stairs. The ticket office is on the left hand side of the stairs. It is not very conspicuous. Buy a ticket before entering.

The Twin Towers are one of the symbols of Taiyuan. Although they are just two towers, they have a very important meaning and status for Taiyuan. Next to it is a peony garden with an exquisite design. The peonies are old and must be very gorgeous when they bloom.

Tickets are divided into off-season and peak season, 20 yuan and 30 yuan respectively. With some certificates, you can get half-price tickets.

Starting from the 18th day of the sixth lunar month, there is a temple fair with many people, movies and operas.

With the Taiyuan Tourism Card, you can come here for free, and it is quite cost-effective to get the card.
