Hailuogou Camp No. 2

海螺沟二号营地

Camp 2, located 8 kilometers from Hailuogou Camp 1 (the scenic area's main entrance), is a world of hot springs, boasting wooden cabins reminiscent of those in the fairy tale of Narnia and hot spring pools of varying sizes nestled amidst the icy primeval forest. In winter, visitors to Camp 2 can enjoy a soak amidst the snow.
The highlight of Camp 2 is the hot spring resort, comprised of European-style villas nestled in the mountains and a variety of hot spring pools nestled against the hillside. Guests can enjoy the hot springs as often as they like, free of charge. However, the cost is quite high: the cheapest standard room costs 688 yuan in winter, and reservations are difficult to come by. Despite the high cost, the experience is truly exceptional, and if you can afford it, it's definitely worth a try. Non-residents can also soak in the hot springs for 120 yuan per person. Because of the rush to get up and down the mountain, the hot springs are often most popular between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
Due to the mudslide in 2014, the hot springs at Camp No. 2 were temporarily closed for repairs, but are now operating normally.

After looking at the glacier, I was frozen like a dog, but it was also very enjoyable to take a bath in the natural hot springs.

There is no more Hailuogou. It has collapsed. It is not an authentic scenic spot. No reminder when buying tickets

Camp 2 is famous for its glacier hot springs, which are especially ideal for soaking in winter. Hailuogou experiences heavy snowfall in winter, and soaking in a hot spring on a snowy day while admiring the snowy scenery is like a fairytale. If you're looking for a hot spring bath, plan to do so in the afternoon, ideally on your way down the mountain after your hike. It's a great way to wash off any fatigue, and it doesn't take too long, as prolonged soaking isn't recommended on the plateau. Note that the last bus from Camp 2 leaves around 5:00 PM, so ask for the exact time and arrive early to catch the bus.

Hailuogou tourist bus stop, here is an open-air hot spring spot with a Nordic style. However, due to environmental reasons, it has been temporarily closed.

8 kilometers ahead of Camp 1, you will reach Camp 2 on the shores of Reshuigou. From afar, you'll see a hazy mist. Here lies the Reshuigou Boiling Spring, the most famous of Hailuogou's springs, which flows year-round.

It is recommended to go there in the summer when the flowers and plants are in full bloom, as in the winter you can only see a sea of white.

The sightseeing bus went directly from the entrance of the scenic area to Camp No. 3. Camp No. 2 did not stop, but just passed by. However, the scenery was not particularly attractive. It was just average.

The scenery is nice, but the supporting facilities are not perfect enough.

By Special |

We went in February, and as a hot spring, the hot springs at Camp 2 are subpar. The lockers are too small, the place is crowded, and there are no seats in any of the changing rooms. The floor is wet, the air is murky (smoking isn't prohibited), and the environment isn't very pleasant. Furthermore, the water is either too hot, making it very uncomfortable and dizzy for those with mild altitude sickness, or too cold, making you shiver as soon as you get out of the water to go to the other pool. All in all, if it weren't for the name "Glacier Hot Springs," it wouldn't be as comfortable as a proper hot spring resort.

Of course, it is very important. If you don’t catch the snow and don’t see the surrounding area covered with snow, this glacier hot spring will lose its selling point. There will only be the snow-capped mountains in the distance as the background. In fact, it is quite disappointing overall.

I went there more than ten years ago, but the most unforgettable thing was the hot springs in Camp No. 2. I met a local tour guide who took us to see the hot springs. It was like a natural sauna. The scenery of Hailuogou is also different in each season. The big ice waterfall is very shocking, but the glacier is a bit disappointing. At first I thought it was a coal mine, it was gray and dull.

Hailuogou Camp II: 8 kilometers from Camp I (the main entrance) leads to Camp II, located at an altitude of 2,580 meters. Camp II is a world of hot springs, known as one of China's top ten hot springs. Here, you'll find wooden cabins reminiscent of Narnia and pools of various sizes nestled amidst the icy primeval forest. The Gongga Boiling Spring flows year-round, reaching temperatures as high as 93 degrees Celsius. Scientific analysis has confirmed that it is a sodium bicarbonate-type neutral, high-quality medical hot mineral spring, suitable for drinking and bathing, with remarkable therapeutic effects for a variety of ailments. Surrounded by lush primeval forest, the hot springs offer breathtaking scenery, especially in winter. Soaking in the hot springs while appreciating the snowy scenery is truly indescribable. If snowfall occurs, soaking in the warm natural springs while watching the flakes drift by is a truly breathtaking experience.

By The heroic dream of a tired life |

We first went to Camp 4. We arrived early, and with the average annual temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, it was too cold for us, so we didn't spend much time exploring. We arrived at Camp 2 around 1:00, and were lucky enough to be the first to enjoy the hot springs. Even with the cold weather and the snow all around us, we couldn't resist our enthusiasm. We happily dipped in every pool in our swimsuit. It was so touching! The contrast between ice and snow, being in the snowy mountains, enjoying the slowly rising heat, was like being in a fairyland.

I went there on February 20, 2016. I highly recommend it and felt incredibly lucky because the second week after I came back, the news reported that the mountain was closed due to low temperatures and heavy snow. I felt like I had made a great profit.

By Mountain |

The hot springs were great, with snow falling as you soaked. It was just that there were too many people during the winter break, and I felt it wasn't very hygienic.

By tomato sauce |

There is a stone tablet here called "Lung Washing Center". The wild macaques here are very lively, so please protect your snacks.

By Qin money |

Soaking in the open-air hot spring, with fine snow falling on my shoulders, looking up at the snow-capped mountains with white caps, and a bright moon slowly rising in the blue sky, there is no greater enjoyment in life than this.

By A-Lu and Xiao Mihu |

The water in the hot spring at Camp No. 2 is very clear and has a natural sulfur smell. There are quite a lot of people taking a hot spring bath.

By Lingyu |

Camp No. 2 is the famous Gongga Shentang Hot Spring. You can buy tickets there in bulk on Taobao, which is cheaper. We went there during the Spring Festival and there were many people, so we didn't go in. We went to the farmhouse hot springs for 50 yuan per person. The peak season is basically full, but the hot spring houses there are so beautiful, so I took a lot of photos.

Hailuogou Camp No. 2 is a great place to cleanse your lungs on weekends. The air is better than you can imagine!

By Hot Blood |

The main attraction at Camp No. 2 in Hailuogou is the hot springs. Camp No. 2 boasts the largest and most luxurious hot spring complex in Hailuogou. Arriving here early in winter will make you feel like you've stepped into a Nordic town. The hot springs ticket costs 120 yuan, and Qunar offers an 85 yuan e-voucher (purchased before 12:00 PM on the same day). Just tell the driver to get off at Camp No. 2. I wanted to give it a 5-star rating, but the short opening hours and lack of accommodation made the soak quite uninspiring. (According to scenic area staff, the area will be under unified management and will no longer have hotels.) So, to those who arrived early, you're truly blessed to be able to soak in the hot springs and see Jinshan Mountain.

By hamizi |

When I went there during the Spring Festival, there was no snow around the hot spring pool, so it lost its charm. Also, there were so many people that the hot spring water didn't seem very clean.

Camp No. 2 reopened on National Day in 2015. We went there at the end of November. We could enjoy the hot springs but the accommodation was not open yet. There were many wild monkeys around. It is great to come here to enjoy the hot springs and the snow scenery in winter.

Camp 2 in Hailuogou is one of the most memorable spots in my memory. It was the end of October, and the mountains were covered with red leaves. Wandering in the natural hot springs was refreshing. Soaking in the hot springs in the snow, accompanied by beautiful scenery, it felt like being in a paradise. However, I heard that the 2008 earthquake did not affect Camp 2. I really want to go and see if it still looks the same as before.

There are four campsites in Hailuogou Scenic Area, from near to far. Camp 1 and Camp 2 both have hot spring hotels. Camp 3 is near the best spot for viewing Mount Gongga Snow Mountain. Camp 4 is where you can take the cable car to the glacier.

Eight kilometers from Hailuogou Camp 1, you'll reach the Hot Springs Retreat Center at Camp 2, nestled beside Reshuigou. At Camp 2, a hot spring, shrouded in mist and breathtaking from afar, is a truly spectacular sight. This spring is Hailuogou's most famous, Reshuigou Boiling Spring. Currently, the area boasts ten open-air hot spring pools of varying sizes and a 200-square-meter outdoor hot spring swimming pool. Surrounded by lush primeval forest, the hot springs offer breathtaking scenery. Soaking in the pools is a refreshing way to wash away travel fatigue and fully enjoy the hot springs.

By Xia Yichuan |

The air is fresh, and I like its high content of negative oxygen ions. If you don't take a deep breath here, you will regret the ticket and the place. After all, some of the roads ahead are dusty. Let's wash it clean before continuing on the road.

By Longing for Jasmine |

I can't remember if it was Camp 2 or Camp 3, but it was the top hot spring camp. There were several hot spring pools, arranged from top to bottom. The structure was a bit like the Huanglong calcified pools. The hot springs in Hailuogou were nice, but the scenery was average, not as good as other scenic spots in Sichuan. There are several scenic spots around Hailuogou, such as Hongshitan and Qinghai.

Camp II is a world of hot springs, with wooden cabins reminiscent of those in the Narnia fairytale, and hot spring pools of all sizes nestled in the icy primeval forest. In winter, visitors to Camp II can enjoy a hot spring soak in the snow—a wondrous experience of both ice and fire.

The main attraction of Camp No. 2 is the hot spring resort, which consists of European-style villas in the mountains and hot spring pools of various sizes built on the mountainside. Guests can enjoy the hot springs for free as many times as they want.

I didn't stay in Camp No. 2, but just went to soak in the hot springs. It felt great. I looked at the red leaves and snow-capped mountains during the day, soaked in the hot springs and snuggled up with my loved one. It was sweet and happy.

By xixi189999 |

It's truly a place to cleanse your lungs: the air is fresh, the sky is blue, and the snow hasn't melted yet. There's a vendor selling anti-slip mats and crampons near Camp 2, but they're really unnecessary at this point. The thick, slippery ice on the steps is artificial, deliberately created to attract customers.

By Lala White |

I remember it was winter when we went there, and Hailuogou was completely covered in snow, a vast expanse of white. Luckily, I'd read the instructions and brought sunglasses, otherwise my eyes would have been irritated. We then took a bus to Camp 2 and were stunned by the sight of the hot springs. In the center was a steaming hot spring, surrounded by a vast expanse of white. Soaking in it was completely refreshing, and the scenery was breathtaking. The only downside was the sheer number of people, like dumplings being dumped into a dumpling dumpling. After soaking, we continued up the mountain. We had the choice of taking a cable car to a higher point or walking to see the glacier, but we opted for the walk. We reached the depths of the glacier but didn't dare go any further, partly because of the crowds and partly because we were worried about the safety of the glacier. But the view from the highest point was truly breathtaking, like something out of a fairy tale. The trees on the mountain were covered in snow, against the backdrop of the blue sky and sunshine. Wearing bright clothes would have made for stunning photos. I went with a tour group back then, so if you're going next time, I'd still recommend a self-driving tour. Joining a tour group is useless; there are just more people pushing you to hurry. If you want to enjoy the scenery more freely, go on your own!

By as close as ever |

During the Spring Festival holiday, the camp's forest oxygen bar, nestled among towering pine trees, felt unmelted, yet the chill was far from over. Even the pine needles, found only at high altitudes, were clung to fluffy snow. The entire area was like a beautiful ice and snow fairytale.

By It was a coincidence that I met Li |

The hot springs in Hailuogou are quite famous. The hot springs are mainly located in Camp No. 2, and are divided into outdoor hot springs and indoor hot springs. The outdoor hot springs are quite unique, with large pools that many people soak in. The layers of hot spring pools are nestled in the mountains, and it is very interesting to soak in the hot springs while enjoying the snow scenery. The indoor hot springs are relatively small, suitable for families to soak in. The water quality is much better than the outdoor ones, but you can't see the snow scenery, so I personally prefer the outdoor hot springs. I went to Camp No. 2 to soak in the hot springs several times. In the snowy winter, you must experience the feeling of soaking in a hot spring outdoors in the ice and snow. It is very interesting. It is convenient to reach the transportation hall of Hailuogou. There are buses, and you can also charter a car, which is the most convenient for self-driving tours.

There are still many places to stay nearby. If you go in winter, it is recommended to book in advance online.

Camp No. 2 is not yet inside the Hailuogou Glacier Park, but it is the best place to soak in hot springs. There was a hot spring in the scenic area before, but it was closed due to mudslides. Now most of the hot springs are in Camp No. 1.

Seven kilometers from Camp 1 in Hailuogou, you'll reach the Hot Springs Retreat Center at Camp 2, nestled beside Reshuigou. At Camp 2, a hot spring, shrouded in mist and a truly spectacular sight, is the most famous of Hailuogou's hot springs. Reshuigou Boiling Spring flows year-round, with a daily flow rate reaching over 8,900 tons. The water's outlet temperature can reach as high as 90°C. Chemical analysis confirms that the spring is a sodium bicarbonate-type, neutral, high-quality medical hot mineral spring. The water is colorless, transparent, and odorless, and has remarkable therapeutic effects on neuralgia, gastrointestinal ailments, diabetes, arthritis, and other conditions.

By Wandering around the world |

It was summer when I went there. It was okay to soak in hot springs in summer, but I didn’t feel anything special. The higher you go, the hotter the water in the pool. I feel like many beautiful pictures were taken in winter when it was snowing. I think I’d better go there in winter.

By Misty Rain Umbrella |

Go, as long as it's not a weekend and there aren't many people. It wasn't snowing when we went, so the scenery was average. It would definitely be nice if it snowed.
