Hailuogou National Forest Park

Every time I go to Aba Prefecture, I feel the blue sky and the quiet lake, which are very beautiful and quiet. This time I went to Hailuogou as well. Fortunately, I didn’t suffer from altitude sickness, otherwise I would definitely not be able to see such beautiful scenery. The most impressive thing about the scenic area is the mountain climbing. My God, it was really tiring. Then the big glacier was so beautiful.

Tickets can be purchased at the self-service ticket machine in the visitor center, but only cash or bank cards are accepted. WeChat and Alipay cannot be used for payment. The ticket price is 165 yuan per person, including tickets, sightseeing bus and insurance.

First, you need to take a bus at the gate of the scenic area. The journey takes about half an hour. If you do not ask to get off during the journey, the driver will not stop at Camps 1 and 2, but will take you directly to the cable car station at Camp 3 to Camp 4.

It is recommended that you get off at the Chengmendong Glacier at Camp No. 3 and walk about 1.2 kilometers one way to reach Chengmendong Glacier and Red Stone Beach.

It takes 5 minutes to drive from Moshi Ancient Town to Hailuogou National Forest Park. Because we only had half a day, we didn't stop at Camp No. 2 (no time to soak in the hot springs), and we didn't take the cable car to Camp No. 4 because of the heavy fog. We took a sightseeing bus directly to Camp No. 3 and experienced the beautiful scenery of the glacier on the hiking trail.

We arrived at the scenic spot at 8 o'clock that day and started to take the scenic sightseeing bus. The initial guide for Hailuogou was not very thorough, and it turned out that it was completely unnecessary. The one-hour drive and the introduction video on the bus were enough for us "newbies" to have an overall impression of Hailuogou.

At 9 o'clock, we arrived at Camp 3 on time. We hiked directly on the mountain plank road and got close to the glacier.

The fog rose at 10 o'clock. During the "golden hour" on the plank road, I took a lot of photos and couldn't help but exclaim "Wow".

The glacier fault under my feet is indeed pure ice, but it is covered with sand and soil, making it look a little dirty. Looking back at the 10-meter-high glacier fault (a completely smooth vertical surface), I took a photo. Fortunately, I was not afraid of heights at the time...

By 10 o'clock, fog began to rise in the mountains and all the views were obscured by the fog.

Take note: If you want to see more scenery in Hailuogou, it is best to arrive at the scenic area at 7 o'clock. Before the fog comes, there will be nearly 2 hours of sightseeing time.

Leave enough time for an hour to hike at Camp 3, and another hour to take the sightseeing cable car to Camp 4.

Under clear weather conditions, the scenery of Hailuogou can be described as "magnificent".

In the short hour, I took some photos at Camp 3, mainly some glacier photos. I didn’t take the cable car to Camp 4, which left me a little regretful.

If I say this was taken in Antarctica, some people will believe it.

The highlights of Hailuogou are naturally the snow-capped mountains and glaciers. The altitude of the scenic area is not high (compared to Daocheng).

The existence of glaciers can be considered a gift from nature to western Sichuan.

We saw too many snow-capped mountains along the way, so maybe the Hailuogou Scenic Area is not worth the ticket (ticket, tunnel and bus cost 310 yuan)

And this is the most desirable scenic spot in western Sichuan. My friends and I decided to take a trip, after all, we don't want to leave any regrets.

When I entered the scenic area in the morning, I saw the sky was foggy. I was worried that the weather was too bad and I couldn't see anything.

In fact, we were worrying too much. Hailuogou is always covered with fog all year round.

Fortunately, we heard the sound of snow avalanche and saw the snow sliding down from the top of the mountain.

To enter the scenic area, you need to take a scenic bus first, which will take you up the mountain to several scenic spots. When the bus first set off, the mountain road was relatively flat, surrounded by green trees on both sides of the road. Although it was drizzling, it made people feel cool and comfortable.

After getting off the scenic area bus, the rain still showed no sign of stopping, so we decided to go to the Black Pine Forest first, and then take the cable car to the viewing platform of Gongga Snow Mountain. The Black Pine Forest is very suitable for tourists who like mountaineering and hiking. The difficulty is not great, but climbing on rainy days is still a bit tiring. The other two friends who were traveling with us gave up after walking for a short distance and went directly to take the cable car. This was just right for us to make a stop before going up. If we couldn't see anything on the cable car, we would have saved the cable car fee.

The sightseeing bus on the way out takes you all the way to the innermost part, and on the way back, it also takes you all the way to the tourist center. It doesn't stop in the middle, which is not humane at all. If you want to see the scenery in the middle, you have to rely on your feet. It is recommended to learn from Shuangqiaogou.

The Hailuogou Scenic Area is very large and is roughly divided into Camps 1/2/3/4. The usual order of touring is: 1. After checking in at the entrance, take a sightseeing bus and drive directly to Camp 3 in about 45 minutes; 2. Take the cable car from Camp 3 to Camp 4 and take close photos with the glacier; 3. Return to Camp 3 from Camp 4 and then tour in reverse. You can choose to walk on the plank road or take a sightseeing bus; 4. Get on the bus at any bus stop on the way back from Camp 3 and return to the entrance of the scenic area. It is enough to arrange a whole day to visit the Hailuogou Scenic Area. Enter the gorge in the morning, arrive at Camp 4 to see the glacier, then go to Camp 3 to take a rainforest plank road and return to the entrance of the scenic area. It can be done in one day. At Camp 3, the staff strongly recommended taking the cable car to Camp 4. The scenic area is very large and it takes a long time to get there by car. You should buy your ticket before 2pm. It is best to go in the morning. If you go in the afternoon, you will be too rushed. Hailuogou is a 5A-level scenic spot located in Moshi Town, Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture. It is also the most accessible glacier for humans. It is a three and a half hour drive from Chengdu. There are churches hundreds of years old, ancient trees thousands of years old, and glaciers in their later years. It is famous for its snow-capped mountains, glaciers, clouds, hot springs, forests, red stones and other scenes.

It is worthwhile to visit Hailuogou. This summer, I am lucky enough to experience Hailuogou in every climate, feel its unique charm, and encounter every kind of scenery. On a sunny day, you can look far into the snow-capped peak of Gongga Mountain, and on a rainy day, you can meet the quiet and clean ancient town of Moshi, and experience the rare comfort; or you can enter Hailuogou and encounter the forest in the rain, and feel the charm of the primeval forest. Hailuogou is not only fascinating for the Gongga Snow Peak, but also for the forest trails full of vitality and artistic conception. During the tour, you may also have the opportunity to meet cute animals such as Tibetan macaques, squirrels, and red pandas, and experience the surprises brought to you by luck.

Starting from Chengdu Noah's Ark Hotel, after a 5-hour drive, we arrived at the Conch Hotel in Moshi Ancient Town to check in. We set off at 7 o'clock the next day, took a sightseeing bus directly to Camp 3, and then took a cable car to Camp 4 to see the glacier. You have to go early in the morning to see the glacier. If you go late, the fog will become thicker and thicker, and you may not be able to see the glacier!

Hailuogou has different beauty in each season. Autumn and winter are probably its most beautiful seasons.

It is very suitable for travel, especially in the winter off-season to see the snow and soak in hot springs!

The glaciers are not visible, but the snow-capped mountains are better in other places. The national forest park is OK, but it is not a special feature.

In late January, the weather is nice!

The sun shines on the Golden Mountain, the Wolf Totem, and the glacier is very disappointed. It is covered with mud, which is said to be to prevent the glacier from melting.

The quiet town of Moshi, the low-altitude glacier and snow-capped mountains, the real hot springs, the enjoyment of vacation, that's it

The ice waterfall is still very spectacular. The highest observation deck is at a high altitude, there are not many places to walk, and the cost of tickets, transportation and cable cars is also very high.

Hailuogou, located at the foot of Gongga Snow Mountain, is famous for its low-altitude glaciers (2,850 meters above sea level), especially the unique ice waterfall, which is 1,080 meters high and 1,100 meters wide at its widest point. It is the highest ice waterfall ever found in China. There are a large number of hot and cold mineral springs in the gully, so soaking in the hot springs in the glacier is also a local specialty.

Now the ticket can enter Hailuogou twice, but it must be a sunny day. It's a pity that the hot springs in Camp No. 2 have been destroyed.

Hailuogou is located in the plateau area. I went to the scenic area to soak in hot springs during the day, and I had a headache at night. I went there in November a few years ago. It was not very cold.

Camp No. 4 in Hailuogou is very beautiful. You can see the Gongga Snow Mountain. There are also food for sale on the mountain. It is highly recommended for those who want to see the snow mountain but don't want to be too tired.

Camp No. 3, No. 2, and No. 1 all have different styles, but we didn't go there. It should be more beautiful when we go there in summer.

With icefalls, glaciers, hot springs and primeval forests, Hailuogou in winter really looks like a fairy tale world of ice and snow.

Note: Cars are not allowed to drive up the mountain. You need to buy a scenic spot ticket + bus ticket.

We went to the black pine forest first, but there was heavy fog and we couldn't see the glacier. We were all disappointed, but we met a little squirrel on the way.

If it is sunny after snow in winter, you must take a walk on the forest trail in Hailuogou.

The last attraction of this trip, Hailuogou Forest Park, was the first to arrive, with the most expensive tickets and the longest queue. It was indeed the most disappointing attraction. The promised glacier was almost devoid of snow. In order to divert the flow, the people who went up first were forced to stay behind to walk. The people who entered the scenic area later actually arrived at the end before us. What a broken rule! I was furious! ! ! The worst attraction! ! ! I want to complain! ! ! Can you please take care of it? ! ! !

In fact, you should really go to Hailuogou in winter, soak in hot springs and see snow-capped mountains and glaciers. Gongga Mountain, the king of Shu Mountains, is no less beautiful than Daocheng Yading, and the winter scenery of Hailuogou is even better. Hailuogou in winter can be described as a magnificent beauty. The photos taken by the driver before are also magnificent enough. If I had known that I could come one day earlier, I should have booked an 8-day trip to go here.

Meet your dream in the ice and snow, it's freezing cold, but your heart is full

We took a sightseeing bus from the gully to the entrance of the National Forest Park, and then started hiking up the mountain through a primeval forest to the glacier cable car station. We encountered a few monkeys at the entrance of the park.

I bought a ticket early in the morning and took the shuttle bus to Hailuogou Scenic Area.

It takes about 40 minutes to reach the end. It is recommended that you do not get off the bus as there are several campsites along the way. After all, the most beautiful scenery is at the end. You can also go to some other places along the way after you have finished your visit.

If you feel that you can't finish playing in one day, you can apply for a second entry into the canyon. I personally think that one day is enough. We went there in the morning and left at three or four in the afternoon.

It took more than 40 minutes to take the bus to reach the destination, which is between Camp 3 and Camp 4. As soon as I got off the bus, I saw the King of Sichuan Mountains - Gongga Snow Mountain (the highest altitude is more than 7,000 meters) just emerging from the clouds. I was so excited that I almost jumped up.

After taking a lot of snaps, I looked at the sign carefully. It said that you can take a cable car to Camp No. 4 to see the snow-capped mountains and glacier waterfalls, or you can hike the glacier trail which is less than two kilometers long. We decided to climb the trail first and then take the cable car.

There are virgin forests on both sides of the trail, full of large trees of unknown origin.

We encountered squirrels many times along the way. They were not afraid of people at all, and many tourists fed them food.

After challenging the glacier trail and preparing to take the cable car, a staff member in the scenic area told us not to waste the money. When we asked, we found out that it was all foggy and we couldn't see anything.

Bees, if you want to take the cable car to see the snow-capped mountains, you must catch the first bus in the morning and then the earliest cable car! ! ! The cable car will pass by the glacier that I walked in front of me at high altitude. I don’t know what magnificent scenery will be up there.

After deciding not to go to the cable car, the other two friends said they were a little tired and wanted to go out directly, so we parted ways and took a car to Camp 3. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to see a large exposed glacier in front of us. I was so excited to play in the water that my hands almost froze and I completely forgot that this was glacier water. Later I thought about whether I should put some in my Avene spray.

#Strategy Update#

The previous guide said that Camps 1 and 2 were hot springs, Camp 3 was a glacier, and Camp 4 was the top of the cable car for viewing the snow-capped mountains. Later, when we went there, we found that the hot springs in Camps 1 and 2 had been destroyed by the previous mudslide and were therefore temporarily closed.

Hailuogou Glacier Park is one of the few modern glaciers in the world that is located at low latitudes, low altitudes and is the most accessible. We also came here because of its reputation.

The ticket check for the scenic area will be stopped at 2:30 pm. It takes 70 minutes to get from the ticket check to the place where you start walking. Going up along the wooden plank road, there are not many people and the visibility is not high, so you are destined to not see any good scenery. The humidity is very heavy. Come to replenish water. There are slides here. It costs 100 per person one-way. If you are overweight, you will be charged 20%. You can also choose to take a cable car. The natural ecology here is well protected. There are many small squirrels. They are not afraid of people. They will slip over if there is food. They are smart. Although the journey is not far, it is really tiring to go up and down the plateau area without knowing how far the destination is. Walking along the wooden plank road, some people said that there is nothing to see, some said that they are almost there, and some said that it is still early. The mountains are high and the forests are dense, and there are ancient trees. To be honest, there are still many safety hazards in the geological problems here. To continue walking from an observation deck, you have to walk a steel staircase, and there is still mountain spring water dripping from your head.

The low visibility prevented us from appreciating its magnificence from afar, and the timing was not right, so we were unable to experience its uniqueness, which was a small pity.

Seeing the natural scenery requires specific weather conditions, it depends on fate

Hailuogou is a scenic spot that we regretted visiting. We went there for the glacier and Gagong Peak, but we didn't see either of them... After buying tickets at the entrance of the scenic spot, we went to the scenic bus station to take a bus. It took about 40 minutes to reach the first camp. The entire scenic bus station is divided into 4 camps, corresponding to 4 tourist attractions; the first 3 camps can be reached by scenic bus, and you can take the bus to any of the camps for free at Camps 1, 2, and 3. Camp 4 is also the best camp for viewing glaciers. You must take a cable car to go up. You can get off at Camp 2 and go to the cable car station to take it. There is an additional charge. When we were at the foot of the mountain, we heard that there was no glacier in September, so we didn't take the cable car to go deeper into the scenic spot, but visited Camp 2 along the steps of the scenic spot. You can only see a small snow peak at the top, you can't see the glacier, and there is no official introduction of the varied vegetation. Many vegetation are in the south! It feels like being cheated! The biggest highlight is that I encountered a group of monkeys who came up to grab food, especially plastic bags, so when going up the mountain, you must avoid carrying plastic bags, hahaha. The driver told me that in addition to the glaciers, the hot springs in Hailuogou are also famous. After listening to the general description and considering the experience of visiting the Hailuogou scenic area during the day, there was no surprise. We were also conservative about the hot springs. Regarding the time to visit Hailuogou, it is recommended that friends choose to go before June or in mid-to-late October when it is slightly colder. The glaciers at that time are really spectacular~

I went to Hailuogou on October 5th. It was very foggy in the mountains because it was drizzling during the National Day holiday. The attractions were Camp No. 3 and Camp No. 4 and the monkeys in the forest. I took the 7 o'clock shuttle bus from the scenic area into the mountain and took it to the dry river dam of Camp No. 3 (an hour, and walked to the end of the black pine forest. It was clear for half an hour at about 8 o'clock, and then it was covered by fog again, and then it was completely cloudy. It is recommended to take the earliest bus at 6 o'clock and wait for the scenery of the golden mountain in the sun or after the sky clears up at the end.

To enter the Hailuogou Scenic Area, you need to buy a ticket. The scenic area transportation bus has a time limit. Please inquire about the last bus time. The Hailuogou Glacier Cableway allows you to see the glacier tongue, the red stone beach (it is said to be a creature that only exists on the plateau, not a stone), and the large ice waterfall. It is recommended to ask a lady to explain. The lady can help take pictures and recommend the best viewing spots.

It was dawn but I was awakened by the sound of rushing water. I opened the door and saw that the whole mountain forest was like a fairyland. It was so beautiful in the clouds and mist. I finally understood why people would give up the hotels with better accommodation conditions outside Hailuogou and stay in the hotels in the scenic area with relatively worse environment. Of course, the main purpose of going out to play is to see the beautiful scenery, so the standard of food and accommodation can be relatively relaxed. It’s a pity that it would be more beautiful if it was in the winter when it snowed.

Hailuogou is divided into four camps. The first three are mostly in the mountains and forests. If you are lucky, you can see two small snow-capped mountains, Jinshan and Yinshan. From Camp No. 3, take the cable car along the Hailuogou Glacier all the way to Camp No. 4. As soon as you get off the cable car, you can see the Hailuogou Icefall on the top of the glacier. If the weather is clear, it is directly above Gongga Snow Mountain, but in Tibet, you really don’t have to talk about ifs. The weather that day was really great, as if telling you that since you are here to visit the Hailuogou Glacier, don’t think about seeing anything else except it. It’s really covered up except for the glacier. Fortunately, I saw photos when I was making a guide online before. Gongga from this angle has almost no appreciation value for me, so there is really no regret. During the shooting, I happened to encounter an avalanche at the top of the icefall. Although it was so far away, it was still deafening and imposing.

When the bus drives into Camp No. 2, you feel like you are in an ice and snow world! It's so dreamy~ The bus terminal is Camp No. 3. To go to Camp No. 4, you must take a cable car. You need to buy a separate ticket for the cable car. The layers of clouds and mist are blown by the wind, revealing the looming Gongga Mountain. The sun shines through the gaps in the clouds, and the weather is fine above the clouds! When you are in the clouds, it is bright white, and you can only see the trees and the cable cars in front of you. The cable car slowly goes up, and when it passes through the clouds, the view is suddenly clear. You can see the snow-capped mountains standing quietly under the blue sky! Use his majesty to amaze you.

When you first enter Hailuogou, it feels like a primeval forest, blocking out the scorching sun.

When we got to the bottom of the ditch, we found that there was real ice underneath the soil. It was amazing. The glacier dispelled the heat and it was so cool.

As a low-altitude glacier, the ice is constantly melting and the plank road has been damaged by landslides.

If you have enough time in Hailuogou, you can find ice caves by climbing up, and the photos will be more beautiful.

The glaciers here did not leave a deep impression on me, but it is a great place to overlook Gongga Snow Mountain. The main peak of "King of Shu Mountains" is 7556 meters above sea level, holy and tall. Don't miss it on the way to Yading.

The ticket is 90 yuan, the senior citizen discount ticket is 60 yuan, and the round-trip ticket for the sightseeing bus is 70 yuan. We took the cable car up again, 140 round trip, which is super cost-effective. Think about those ordinary scenic spots, it costs two or three hundred to take a cable car. The cable car ticket for this attraction is worth it! The experience is very exciting. I am especially afraid that the cable car will fall down. After falling down, people and the cable car will be trapped and can't be found. Hahahahaha! After arriving at the glacier viewing platform, it was very shocking. In fact, the best place to watch the glacier should be here at the Erawan Shrine. The location is higher, the light is better, and the photography is more beautiful.

I feel it's nice here, it's worth coming. I didn't see Mount Gongga, but I saw glaciers, avalanches, and the primeval forest at an altitude of 3,800 meters (it's strange here, the altitude is about the same as Tagong grassland, but there are tall trees, Tagong has no trees), it's well protected. And the metal mesh road bridge for people to walk on the road is better, non-slip, even if there is snow, it's non-slip, there will be no water accumulation, and the installation bracket should cause less damage to the primeval forest, durable, this is good.

The glacier, behind the clouds is Muya Gongga, which is 7,556 meters above sea level and is revered as a sacred mountain by Tibetans. The ice slid down from Mount Gongga, and then as more ice slid down, it squeezed into Hailuogou, which has an altitude of 3,800 meters. It can be seen that there is a 3,800-meter-high Mount Gongga hidden behind the clouds. What a height that is, it's a pity that I didn't see it.

Hailuogou is good in every way, except that if you want to make a pack of instant noodles you bring with you, any store will charge you 10 yuan for water, except for the free hot water provided in the toilets, which is such a ridiculous location. The toilet is inside the house, and the place to make instant noodles is outside the house. Who can eat a bowl of instant noodles in front of the toilet door? !

Moreover, the Hailuogou Scenic Area is full of gurgling water, and the last thing it lacks is water! I think it is understandable that you charge 2 yuan for water. After all, it needs electricity to cook. If you charge 10 yuan, it is too expensive. Later, I carried the instant noodles I brought with me as they were, and I did not make instant noodles at the door of the toilet, which was ridiculed. I came out of the scenic area in the afternoon with an empty stomach. It was not that I could not afford the quick meal in the scenic area, but I was angry about the 10 yuan water fee.

It is very convenient to apply for a second entry into Hailuogou. The cable car can be processed in the finance office at the cable car boarding point.

Entrance tickets and bus tickets are handled at Camp No. 1 when going down the mountain.

And you only need to stamp and register, no fee is required, and you can pay when you enter the ditch again the next day.

Hailuogou has a famous natural hot spring. The biggest difference from the hot springs in Jiangsu and Zhejiang is that it is natural and it is at the foot of the snow-capped mountains. In the open-air hot spring, you can enjoy the wonders of snowflakes flying in the air, and see the snow-capped mountains and silver peaks standing around. This artistic conception must be extremely beautiful. The next morning, we entered Hailuogou. It snowed heavily at night. After the snow, it cleared up. It was as beautiful as a fairy tale world. The sea of ​​clouds in the distance cannot be fully reflected in the photos.

The snow-capped mountains I took at Camp 4! The weather was bad so I couldn't see the golden mountain in the sun, but the sun gradually came out and there were more and more snow-capped mountains. The highest scenic spot here is 3,900 meters above sea level. I still cherish my life, so I had to move slowly without an oxygen tank. It took me more than two hours to visit several scenic spots and take the cable car down. The cable car ticket price and bus ticket price are both round-trip, so there is no need to buy new tickets.

The last bus to Hailuogou leaves at 2:30 pm. The glacier landscape is worth experiencing. Don’t take the cable car. If you are tired, you can choose a slide, which takes you deep into the valley and touches the glacier.

After buying the ticket, I happily went into the mountain. Although the weather was not sunny, it was a special experience. I like the clouds hanging on the mountainside, because the beautiful scenery is hidden in the deep mountains. Fortunately, the development is relatively complete, and the bus can go up the mountain, but of course there are also very commercial battery cars for shuttle, which are all purchased one-way. So I spent a lot of money on the tickets. The trees are taller and the oxygen is good as you go in, but the altitude is also getting higher and higher, about 3,000 meters. There is still a way to get to the parking spot. You can choose a cable car and walk for 3 hours manually. It is all mountain roads. For the first time, I felt hypoxia, I couldn’t look out, and I couldn’t walk fast.

Time and energy are always limited, but my obsession with you has never changed; I thought that I could see your peerless heroic demeanor after traveling thousands of miles; but you were always so far away. I thought that I would not be able to meet you this time, and I set off on my way home with full of regrets; at the foot of the winding Zheduo Mountain, you suddenly appeared in a mysterious corner; you were so fascinating. I got a glimpse of you, and I was completely conquered by your charm and aura...

Because the scenic spot stops selling tickets at 2:30, you can only stay here and wait until the next day to enter the scenic spot. When staying, you must find a room with a view of the snow-capped mountains. If you are lucky, you can see the golden mountain in the sun if you get up early. In the afternoon, you can visit the ancient town of Moses at the foot of the scenic spot and visit the site of the Moses Conference. The scenic area is rich in vegetation, and you can see cute little squirrels from time to time. The air is fresh. I heard that there are hot springs in Camps 1 and 2, but the price of the room including the hot springs is ridiculously high, so I gave up.

If you want to see and touch the glacier yourself, don't take the cable car. Get off the cable car and walk directly down the glacier. You can't see or touch anything when you go up the cable car.

I went at the wrong time. The glacier was visible to the naked eye for a little longer, and the rocky land was barren. I suggest visiting in the right season.

It would be better if I could give it zero stars. It was very, very, very bad. I have never been on a tour worse than this. Half of the dishes in the group meal were rotten and the rice was several years old. That's not a big deal!

It takes a while to take the scenic bus to reach the starting point of the cableway. There is also a primeval forest attraction and a hot spring on the way. We got off the bus in the primeval forest and visited for a while. The cypress trees in it are all primitive, and hundreds of years old are common.

The black, stone-like things I saw from the cable car were glaciers. They greatly overturned the impression I had of glaciers, which I imagined to be crystal clear and majestic.

Only when standing on the glacier did we finally see the thick layer of ice. The ice was covered with black sand and stones, forming a black glacier. In addition, the Hailuogou Glacier is relatively flat, with a shallow slope, making it easy for sand and stones to accumulate.

Traveling in the off-season is really not a good idea.
