I work here every day, but I didn't expect there is such a famous church here⛪️. I went to take a look after get off work. There are statues of Jesus' disciples on the wall on the road. Just walk south along Xihuamen Street and you will arrive. It is really quiet. There are two people playing badminton at the door. I looked at its gate and the statue of the Virgin Mary🗿The church building is very beautiful and worth a visit. Next time I must go inside during the day to have a look

Chengdu Pinganqiao Catholic Church is the cathedral of the Chengdu Catholic Diocese and the first of all churches in the Chengdu Diocese. It is also known as the Pinganqiao Cathedral. It is located at No. 25 Xihuamen Street, Qingyang District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province (formerly No. 29 Pinganqiao Street). The church was built in the 22nd year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1896) and completed in the 30th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1904). In 2013, Pinganqiao Catholic Church was listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Ping'anqiao Catholic Church, such a quiet place in the bustling city of Chengdu.

Very quiet place. I like it very much. A must-visit in Chengdu

At first, I chose Ping'anqiao Catholic Church out of curiosity, but when I got there, I found that everything was not as beautiful as I imagined. Perhaps I had too high expectations for the picture of the church. The quaint facade gives people a feeling of a temple. If it weren't for the sign at the door with Jesus welcoming everyone, no one would know that this is a church. It is called a church, but most of the architectural elements inside are still Chinese-style buildings. Only the Western style inside, the cross inlaid on the outside, and the statue of Jesus make people feel the presence of Western elements.
The interior space of the church is very large. The huge crystal chandeliers and the surrounding European-style carvings make people feel as if they are in a native Western church.
In general, Ping'anqiao Catholic Church is a combination of Western churches and Chinese architecture, giving people the feeling of a Taoist temple outside and a church inside.

A small but interesting place that combines Chinese and Western elements, and not crowded.

Very quiet, although it is surrounded by a busy area with cars coming and going, but it is very quiet inside.
I quietly went into the church and sat inside for almost an hour, feeling very relaxed.
The afterglow of the setting sun shines through the stained glass windows, colorful and beautiful.
Although I am a Buddhist, I would like to see the mass here on weekends.
It's pretty good. It's worth riding so long to get here.
I hope I can have a chance to take a weekend off in the future.

A church that combines Chinese and Western styles, a quiet place deep in the bustling city

Finally, I followed the expert to visit here. It's actually near the activity area. I didn't know it. This is too unscientific. It's right next to the Municipal Housing Authority building. There are many delicious foods nearby. Let me tease you one by one.

I went there on purpose because I saw a friend's travelogue mentioning the Pinganqiao Catholic Church. It might have been closed due to road repairs. I took a photo at the entrance.

After demolition in recent years, the more than 10-meter-high archway of the Immaculate Conception Church has been fully displayed to the public for the first time since it was built in 1904. The simple and elegant architecture of the church has been renovated and looks more solemn and sacred under the light.
The corridors around are spacious and interconnected, with 108 nanmu columns that are magnificent. Three courtyard gardens divide the cathedral and the Church of the Immaculate Conception into formal corridors.

I have always liked the church, so I took two photos. I found a sign on the side saying that taking photos is not allowed. When I went there, I couldn't go inside.

Tianfu Square had nothing to attract me except its size. But the Pingan Bridge Cathedral, which I found after a lot of searching, was a pleasant surprise.

Over the past century, the church has been eroded by wars and wind and rain, but it still retains its original appearance. The courtyard is being renovated and looks solemn and sacred under the light.

I like to sit quietly in the church for a while, feeling the tranquility and peace, and the pious concentration.

The Chengdu Cathedral of the Catholic Diocese is a huge building complex that integrates Western architectural styles with Sichuan's local architectural styles. It can be said to be a combination of Chinese and Western styles.

When I went inside, I found it was quite big, but not many local people knew about it. I asked many people and walked a long way before I found it!
Ping'anqiao Cathedral is the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Chengdu, located at No. 29 Xihuamen Street. The church itself is not superior to other "national protection" level churches in China. The front facade adopts Roman-style semicircular arches and Corinthian columns. But the bishop's office is particularly wonderful. The bishop's office is a wooden structure, and the wood used is precious nanmu. The Chinese courtyard layout is a typical Sichuan residential style. This combination of Chinese and Western styles does not feel mixed and confused, but makes the two parts complement each other, worthy of the title of "national protection".
