Sichuan Museum was built in 1941 and consists of three floors. It is the largest comprehensive museum in Southwest China.
The first floor is mainly devoted to the Sichuan Han Dynasty pottery and stone art exhibition, and most of the exhibits are rough and simple Han Dynasty stone carving art and pottery sculpture art.
The second floor is mainly composed of the Bashu Bronze Museum, Dafeng Hall (Zhang Daqian Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition Hall), the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Museum and the Porcelain Museum.
The third floor consists of the Light of Tibetan Buddhism, the Stone Carving Museum of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Temple, the Ancient Style and Elegant Arts and Crafts Museum, etc., most of which reflect the folk customs of Sichuan.
After you come out of the museum, you can visit the nearby Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Qingyang Palace, Wuhou Temple, and Jinli. They are very close and can be visited together.

Note: bring your ID card, you need to scan it at the door. Of course, the Sichuan Provincial Museum is not amazing. Highlights: Sanxingdui bronzes, priceless Zhang Daqian's painting of ladies, the mystery of Zhang Xianzhong's sunken silver in Jiangkou. There will be volunteer explanation service at 10 o'clock. It doesn't matter if you miss it, you can follow the official account and there will be audio explanations.
Whenever I go to a place, I will arrange the local museum into my itinerary. If you want to understand the local history and culture, then the museum is a must-go place. As soon as I entered the museum, I doubted whether it was a provincial museum or a municipal museum. I specifically asked the staff at the door, and the staff said it was a provincial museum. Well, I admit that after visiting the Shaanxi History Museum, other museums seem small.
First, I came to the Zhang Daqian Calligraphy and Painting Museum. I usually like to watch Chinese paintings and appreciate these artistic works. Bashu Bronze Museum. It seems that many museums have some bronzes on display, which is also a symbol of an era. Being excavated from the long-dusty soil, it not only allows people today to see that period of history, but also allows them to feel the stories of their era. When I was visiting the Sichuan Museum, I still doubted whether it was a provincial museum or a municipal museum. I caught another staff member and asked him, and the other party still answered me: Provincial Museum! Well, I had to admit it. It was the Shaanxi History Museum that shocked me so much that I was too suspicious of the Sichuan Museum. I really didn't dislike the Sichuan Museum, but I thought that a provincial museum should have many exhibition halls and cultural relics. It seems that there are not many things to see in the Sichuan Museum, and it is not really big inside. Having said that, I didn't take many photos, but it is still worth a visit.
There is a ginkgo forest at the entrance of Sichuan Museum. I picked up a lot of ginkgo leaves here and brought them back to Guangzhou to use as bookmarks.
Sichuan Museum is also free but not free of charge. You can enter the museum directly by swiping your ID card. In addition, the museum also has free volunteer guides to give regular explanations. The WeChat public account also has free explanations. I caught up with the explanation of the volunteer guide at the Bashu Bronze Museum. Listening to the explanations of the WeChat public account and the volunteer guide, I felt it was quite interesting, but because it was almost 16:00 and I didn’t even have lunch, I had to end this tour.
The Sichuan Museum does not look very majestic from the outside. The three-story building has 14 exhibition halls with different functions. Among them, there are 10 permanent exhibitions such as Tibetan Buddhism, Wanfo Temple stone carvings, Zhang Daqian's calligraphy and painting, and Han Dynasty pottery and stone art, and 4 temporary exhibition halls. It contains many rare treasures and is also a long epic of the entire Sichuan culture and history.
After visiting the Sichuan Museum, you can also choose to buy a cultural and creative product from the Cultural and Creative Museum at the entrance before leaving. There are still many products with Chengdu symbols, and it is also a good place to buy souvenirs.
1. You can get the automatic explanation through WeChat, and the manual explanation in the afternoon will be available after 14:00. 2. The paintings of Zhang Daqian, Shu brocade, ethnic minority exhibits and (replicas of) musicians and servants left a deep impression on me. 3. The exhibition is arranged according to the category of exhibits, and it feels that Sichuan or (ancient) Shu culture and history are not highlighted (Yingpan Mountain-Baodun-Sanxingdui-Shierqiao-Kai Ming Dynasty).
Although the treasures and historical backgrounds in the museum are different, they all tell us the story of this hot land for thousands of years. Bashu culture has a long history since ancient times. I am familiar with it because of the impression of the Three Kingdoms. In fact, the complete historical data about it is far more than I know.
There are many exhibition halls in Sichuan Museum, and the most fascinating one should be Zhang Daqian's Gallery. Although I know nothing about calligraphy and painting, I still know a little about Zhang Daqian. He is the most legendary master of Chinese painting in the 20th century, as famous as Qi Baishi and Pu Xinyue, and there are many more names about him.
There are a large number of paintings by Zhang Daqian, especially the imitations of Dunhuang murals. Of the more than 200 murals he copied from Dunhuang, 183 are in the Sichuan Museum's collection.
In fact, for those who love calligraphy and painting, coming to the Sichuan Museum is definitely a rewarding experience. And for those of us who don’t know much, listening to stories about Zhang Daqian while walking is also an opportunity for us to gain knowledge.
Visiting the cultural relics in the exhibition hall, I can't help but feel the exquisite skills and labor wisdom of the ancients. Zhang Daqian is worthy of being a master. He not only has Buddha statues copied from Dunhuang murals, but also landscapes and flower-and-bird paintings with profound artistic conception. There are many primary and secondary school students in the exhibition hall as guides, who vividly introduce various collections and stories to us.
When I went there, I happened to come across the temporary "Jiangkou Sunken Silver" exhibition hall. It mainly displays gold ornaments, silver ornaments, silver ingots and copper coins. It feels magical to see the gold and silver treasures with your own eyes.
The museum has many places to relax. In addition to exhibits, there are also animated videos that allow people to understand history from multiple perspectives.
This is indeed the largest comprehensive museum in the southwest region. The exhibition area is divided into three floors. The entrance is actually on the second floor. According to people's habitual reaction, we started to visit from the first exhibition hall on the right-hand side, the Ceramics Hall. A big problem in visiting a museum is that if you don't listen to the explanation, you will just look at many things and don't understand them at all. Here, you can first follow the WeChat public account of the Sichuan Museum, which contains voice explanations of various exhibition halls, which is very practical. As soon as you enter the exhibition hall, you will see a wall full of pottery and porcelain, with the words "The Art of Mud and Fire" written on it. Looking down from the display cabinets of the exhibition hall one by one, you will find that the history of the development of Bashu ceramics condenses the development process of Chinese ceramics, and all of them show the natural and simple charm of Bashu ceramics. Although they are not as exquisite as official kiln porcelain, they reflect a strong atmosphere of life. There is a very gorgeous separate exhibition area inside, which displays the burial objects in the tomb of Zhu Yue, the grandson of Zhu Yuanzhang, the King of Shuzhuang, Zhu Yue. The glazed pottery figurines include civil and military generals, ceremonial welcoming guards, horses, etc., and the burial objects are very rich. It is said that the appearance of this exhibition hall is the restoration of the original tomb chamber, with exquisite decoration and is very beautiful. The second exhibition hall from the Ceramics Museum is the Bronze Museum, which displays a variety of bronze utensils, weapons and tools, with a wide variety and exquisite styles. The third exhibition hall is the Zhang Daqian Art Museum. The multi-functional hall on the left side of the entrance repeatedly plays the life story of Mr. Zhang Daqian. If you don’t know, you can watch it first and then visit the exhibition hall. Wanfo Temple, I heard about it for the first time. It is a temple buried underground. Now the exhibition hall displays ancient stone Buddha statues dug out of the ground. Most of these Buddha statues have only the body without the head, or only the Buddha head. There are also Tibetan Buddhist Cultural Relics Museum, Han Dynasty Pottery and Stone Art Exhibition Hall, Jiangkou Sunken Silver... Because I was very tired, I left a small part without visiting, so that I will want to come again next time, haha.
My son likes to visit museums wherever he travels. This is a habit he has developed in recent years. Moreover, every museum in the Central Plains is worth seeing. Near Chengdu, the Sichuan Museum, Chengdu Museum, Jinsha Ruins, Sanxingdui Museum, etc. are worth a visit. Therefore, the museums in the Central Plains are really not to be missed.
Sichuan Museum was founded in 1941 and has a history of more than 70 years. It currently has more than 320,000 cultural relics in its collection, including more than 50,000 precious cultural relics. It is located in the Huanhuaxi Historical and Cultural Scenic Area in Chengdu.
Free tickets are available with valid ID (ID card).
The red line in the picture is the key point: Sichuan Museum is open at night on weekdays!!! However, it is not open at night due to the epidemic.
TIPS: 1. My route is to go to Qingyang Palace first, then to Du Fu Thatched Cottage, and finally to the museum. These three places are close to each other and can be reached by bike. The reason why the museum is arranged last is that it is also open at night, so you can visit it at night.
2. The ticket price for Qingyang Palace is 10 yuan, and the opening hours are 08:00-18:00. The distance between Qingyang Palace and the museum is about 600 to 700 meters, but I missed Qingyang Palace perfectly during my ride because there was a subway under construction near Qingyang Palace and the gate was blocked by the fence, so I had to look carefully to find Qingyang Palace surrounded by the construction site.
3. The entrance fee to Du Fu Thatched Cottage is RMB 50. The opening hours are 08:00-20:00 (from May 1st to October 31st, Monday to Sunday in summer), and the ticket sales stop at 19:00. 08:00-18:30 (from November 1st to April 30th of the following year, Monday to Sunday in winter); the ticket sales stop at 17:30)
Sichuan Museum was built in 1941. It is divided into three floors and is the largest comprehensive museum in the southwest region. The first floor is mainly devoted to the Sichuan Han Dynasty pottery and stone art exhibition, and most of the exhibits are rough and simple Han Dynasty stone carving art and pottery art. The second floor is mainly composed of the Bashu Bronze Museum, Dafeng Hall (Zhang Daqian Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition Hall), the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Museum and the Porcelain Museum. The third floor is composed of the Tibetan Buddha's Light, the Wanfo Temple Stone Carving Hall, the Ancient Style and Elegant Arts and Crafts Museum and other areas, most of which reflect the folk customs of Sichuan.
We arrived in Chengdu at noon and spent the afternoon at the Sichuan Provincial Museum. It was my first time visiting a museum and I felt that it was relatively small compared to some I had seen before. It is mainly an important place for collecting and exhibiting cultural relics from Sichuan Province. The most distinctive ones are the Bashu bronzes, Zhang Daqian's paintings and pottery sculptures.
It's quite big. If you look at each exhibition hall carefully, it may take more than four hours. You need an ID card to enter the hall. I didn't have enough time, so I only looked at it for an hour and a half. I spent more time in the bronze ware and the Wanfo Temple Stone Carving Hall, which was really worth it, especially the Wanfo Temple Stone Carving Hall. Those Buddha statues are lifelike. The bronze ware that has survived through time and space is also very interesting. I like the bowls and cups in the ceramics hall very much. They are really beautiful. Follow the WeChat public account of Sichuan Museum, which has voice explanations, but I don't know why, as soon as I enter each hall, the mobile phone signal is not good. It may be because of the mobile phone, because the people next to me can release it, so I basically wandered around blindly later.
The Sichuan Museum seems to be overwhelmed by the Du Fu Thatched Cottage and the Huanhuaxi Park behind it, and does not seem to be very famous, but as a museum in a province, it still has its own unique features. Let me give you a few simple tips:
1. The museum is 10 minutes away from Exit B of Caotang North Road Station on Metro Line 4. The best way to get there is to take bus No. 19, 35, 58, 82, 151, 165 or 170 and get off at Songxianqiao Station. After crossing the river, you will reach the north gate of the museum, which is the main entrance.
2. The museum is free but not ticket-free. 4,000 free tickets are issued every day (including 200 online tickets), so you must bring your ID card with you. Every Monday is still the museum's closing day. The opening hours are 09:00 to 21:00 in summer (stop taking tickets at 20:30) and 09:00 to 20:00 in winter (stop taking tickets at 19:30). This is also the latest museum I have ever seen;
3. The first floor of the museum includes the Sichuan Han Dynasty pottery and stone art exhibition and the multi-functional conference reception room. The second floor includes the Bashu bronze exhibition hall, the ceramic boutique exhibition hall, the calligraphy and painting hall, and the Zhang Daqian exhibition. The third floor includes the Tibetan Buddhist Cultural Relics Hall, the Wanfo Temple Stone Carving Hall, the Sichuan Ethnic Cultural Relics Exhibition, the Arts and Crafts Museum, and the Centennial Sichuan Hall. There are free explanations at 10:00 and 14:00 every day, and you can also scan the Sichuan Museum QR code for self-service explanation services;
4. The museum provides free storage and is equipped with free loan of baby strollers and wheelchairs to meet the needs of individual visitors. It also provides umbrella loan services to cope with the inconvenience caused by weather changes. It is really humane;
5. Finally, let’s talk about the museum’s treasures: a bronze jar with elephant-head ears and animal-face patterns from the Zhou Dynasty, a pottery storyteller from the Eastern Han Dynasty, a modern scroll painting of ladies holding a quilt by Zhang Daqian, a stone rhinoceros, etc.
I don’t know why, but the Chengdu Museum surpasses the Sichuan Museum in terms of both collections and quality of cultural relics.
A must-visit when visiting Chengdu! I wanted to come here after watching "National Treasure".
At that time, I went there because of a message on Weibo saying there was a terracotta warrior who looked like Ma Long in the museum, hahahaha.
Um... This is the first museum that has a comic exhibition among all the museums I've visited... The museum is not big, but Zhang Daqian's exhibitions are pretty good and worth a visit
As a provincial museum, I feel that the things here are not outstanding enough.
The exhibits are very rich and the cultural relics are well protected.
Coming from Du Fu Thatched Cottage, I saw that the museum was open, which was beyond my expectation.
The best place to learn about Sichuan is the Sichuan Museum. The museum is very large and has complete supporting facilities. There are boiled water and paper cups, but you should pay attention to environmental protection. Paper cups can be kept for multiple uses! The museum has three floors, each floor is very distinctive, especially the ethnic exhibition hall.
Free tickets with ID card
The museum is mainly divided into three floors
Many of Zhang Daqian's works are displayed here
The painting on the ticket was created by Zhang Daqian
Near Du Fu Thatched Cottage.
I highly recommend WeChat explanations. Just follow the official account. There are explanations available wherever you go. You must listen to the explanations when you go to the museum, otherwise you won’t understand anything... If you like these things, you will find them very interesting.
There is a giant Shu embroidery panda at the entrance of the Sichuan Museum of Arts and Crafts.
Every time I go to a place, I must visit a museum. I happened to come across the Cartier Collection Treasures Around the World exhibition. There is a beautiful story behind each priceless piece of jewelry. I also listened to a volunteer's explanation of bronze ware for free and enjoyed Zhang Daqian's painting exhibition.
A place with advanced facilities, but nothing special about the exhibits, except for Zhang Daqian's calligraphy and paintings
Located outside the first ring road of Chengdu West, it is adjacent to Huanhua Creek and Du Fu Thatched Cottage. Regular exhibitions include Zhang Daqian and Dunhuang, bronze ware, Tibetan Buddhism, Shu embroidery, etc.
It is located in a remote area. Compared with provincial museums in other provinces, Sichuan Museum is much inferior. It contains some painting galleries, bronze galleries, stone carving galleries, ceramic galleries, calligraphy and painting galleries, arts and crafts galleries, pottery and stone art galleries, etc. It is suitable for those who like to appreciate art. I am a person who is interested in history, culture and customs, so the National Culture Museum and Tibetan Buddhist Cultural Relics Museum are worth knowing.
Entering the museum, you will see a circular hall with three floors. We are on the second floor of the museum when we enter the gate. Although it is called three floors, only the second and third floors are fully open to the public. The first floor is still under renovation. There are surprisingly few tourists in the museum, which may have a lot to do with the collections in the museum.
A provincial-level museum. Unfortunately, there are not many exhibits, but you can learn about Bashu culture.
The museum is not big, the doorplate is a self-proclaimed museum, but there are only three major museums: the National Palace Museum, the Taipei Palace Museum, and the Nanjing Museum. The audio guide makes visiting the museum an interesting thing and can kill a whole morning.
Sichuan Museum has collected a large number of paintings by Mr. Zhang Daqian, especially the copies of Dunhuang murals. Zhang Daqian copied more than 200 Dunhuang murals, and Sichuan Museum has collected 183 of them. Mr. Zhang Daqian had limited time in Dunhuang, and most of the copied paintings were unfinished. After he brought the copied paintings back to Sichuan, he folded and packed them in boxes and stored them in Zhaojue Temple, Shahe Village and other places. In 1963, Mr. Zhang Daqian's family officially donated the batch of cultural relics to Sichuan Museum, which has been collected ever since.
It's a bit small, so you can finish the tour quickly. No reservation is required, you can enter by swiping your ID card.
Sichuan Museum was not a planned stop. I just happened to see it on my way to Du Fu Thatched Cottage on my bike. It is right next to Du Fu Thatched Cottage.
I have always felt that museums best represent the history and culture of a place, so whenever I go to a place, I will go to a museum to walk around and experience it.
Sichuan Museum has five or six exhibition halls. The most impressive one is Zhang Daqian Art Museum.
There is also a Sichuan Embroidery Museum on the second floor. In today's highly developed industrialization, craftsmen should still be respected.
After looking at the clothes worn hundreds of years ago, I actually found them to be quite fashionable.
There are not many people in Sichuan Museum, and there are not many venues. This is the correct way to open a museum (compared with Shaanxi Province), but the problem is that the utensils, calligraphy and paintings in the museum all reflect the historical civilization of various dynasties. If you don’t understand and no one explains, it’s really laborious and boring to just go through them.
You can enter the Sichuan Museum for free just by registering your ID card. There are many real cultural relics in it, such as ceramics, bronzes, Zhang Daqian Art Museum, etc., which are worth a visit.
The must-see at Sichuan Museum is Zhang Daqian's paintings! I'll say it again! Sichuan Museum does not require tickets. You don't need to make an appointment during the off-season. You can just swipe your ID card. However, during the National Day holiday, I suggest you ask first.
As soon as you enter the museum, you will see the Zhang Daqian Art Museum, which contains many Dunhuang murals copied by Mr. Zhang Daqian.
It seems that the trip to Dunhuang had a great influence on Mr. Zhang Daqian! There is also a Tibetan Buddhism Museum, which I am also interested in. The museum has an embroidery museum with many embroidery works.
As someone who loves history and museums, I have been to the Hunan Museum and the Henan Museum, and this time I plan to visit the Sichuan Museum.
We planned to go there knowing it was going to rain, after all, it was indoors and wouldn't affect our shopping at other times, haha. We went there on the 23rd.
The museum has several floors, each of which is clearly marked. You can come at a certain time and there are volunteer tour guides. If you don’t want to hire a tour guide, there are also young volunteers who give lectures. Of course, you can scan the QR code to get voice explanations, which is very convenient.
My memory is not good, I don't remember the specific name of the museum, it is roughly divided into bronze ware, pottery, etc. There are many exhibits, many Internet celebrity exhibits, which have been included in "If National Treasures Could Talk". I can't remember whether there are national treasures. I highly recommend coming here to learn about the culture of the ancient Shu Kingdom.
The glass of the display cabinet is too dirty and the lighting is not good. I am quite surprised that Sichuan Museum is not as good as Chengdu Museum in terms of environment or management.
It was not yet 9 o'clock, so I was not allowed in. I thought I would have to queue up early like the Xi'an Museum, but there was no one there when I got there. I wondered if I had chosen the wrong place. After I went to the park next to it and came back, some people came in one after another, but many of the museum's works were fakes. In fact, the museum is quite large. I walked around for three hours, but there was no explanation and I could only look at it...
The ivory cabbage in the painting is made of ivory carved into the shape of a cabbage, which looks very realistic! And if you look closely, the insects on it are very lifelike.
It's OK, free, and there are many people watching, mainly some ancient artifacts and calligraphy and paintings from Sichuan
It was really funny. I squeezed out time to see the inlaid banquet (I was recommended by the national treasure if it could talk), but in the end, I only saw imitations... But after walking around, I still learned some history, but it was a pity that it was not the history of Sichuan... I walked through the ceramics museum, bronze museum, Zhang Daqian museum and Tibetan Buddhism museum, which took about an hour and a half. I also met a little tour guide. Are primary school students so good now?
Compared to the Chengdu Museum, the Sichuan Museum is slightly smaller. The collection is not displayed in a chronological order, but in categories such as bronzes, ceramics, Zhang Daqian's calligraphy and painting, and Shu embroidery folk culture. Due to my physical condition, I visited the bronze museum and learned about the bronze vessels and their unique features of Bashu, as well as the main uses of bronzes of different shapes. This was a knowledge-enhancing trip.
Opening hours: Closed on Mondays
Winter season: November 1 to April 30: 9:00-20:00
Summer season: May 1st to October 31st: 9:00-21:00
One of the fastest ways to get to know a city is to visit museums.
So I really like visiting museums.
Especially in the summer afternoon┓( ´∀` )┏
Very good, no tickets are needed, just an ID card is enough. You can learn about our historical relics.
When I arrived, I happened to see a calligraphy and painting exhibition. A provincial museum really reflects the basic culture and history of this region. If you come to Sichuan and don't visit a museum, you will just be sightseeing. It doesn't seem good to tell others about it, so you must come here.
It took two and a half hours! I like the National Culture Museum more. The Miao clothes are very beautiful. What's funny is that there are several children worshipping the Miao clothes, and they are very pious.
Museums are the best places to learn about the historical development of each city's civilization. The Sichuan Museum is worth visiting, it's free, and there are Zhang Daqian's art exhibition, ceramic exhibition, bronzes, shadow puppets, embroidery, jade, etc. There are not many exhibition halls, and my favorite is the Porcelain Hall.
Free admission with ID card. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday (not closed on Mondays when it is a national holiday)
Summer: 09:00 to 21:00 (ticket collection stops at 20:30) Winter: 09:00 to 20:00 (ticket collection stops at 19:30). Friendly reminder: Download the Sichuan Museum WeChat account on your mobile phone and follow it to listen to the explanations on your mobile phone. There are also free explanations by the tour guides in the museum. The Sichuan Museum has a ceramics museum and a bronze museum, Zhang Daqian Art Museum and Painting and Calligraphy Museum, Sichuan National Cultural Relics Museum and Arts and Crafts Museum, and many other exhibition halls and collections. I won’t introduce them here, but they are very worth visiting.
Friendly reminder: Nearby are: Walking towards Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Chuanxi Bazi Hotpot Restaurant Du Fu Thatched Cottage Direct Store (No. 43 Qinghua Road) is on the left side of the main gate of Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Steel Pipe Factory District 5 Xiaojun Liver Chuanchuanxiang Qinghua Road Store (No. 33 Qinghua Road, No. 6-8) is on the right side of the main gate of Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Xiaolongkan Hotpot Du Fu Thatched Cottage Store (No. 24 Qinghua Road, No. 33).
I suggest you go and have a look. There are calligraphy and paintings, paintings by Zhang Daqian, porcelain, bronzes, ethnic items, and Shu brocade. I personally think it's good to learn more about it. It's free and you can enter with your ID card. Closed on Mondays.
You don't need to exchange tickets, just swipe your ID card at the entrance of the exhibition hall. The Sichuan Museum is divided into three floors, and the second floor is the first floor. The first floor is mainly Han Dynasty stone carvings, the second floor is mainly calligraphy and painting ceramics, and the third floor is ethnic and Tibetan cultural relics.
The Sichuan Museum exhibits porcelain from various periods in Sichuan and many cultural relics of Tibetan Buddhism. It is highly recommended to visit.
When you come to Sichuan Museum, you must see Zhang Daqian's paintings. Mr. Daqian copied the Dunhuang murals in full and lived in the Gobi Desert for several years, making a significant contribution to presenting the Dunhuang murals, a rare treasure, to the world. In addition, there are many fine works in the Bronze Museum and the Stone Carving Museum. I found that the elementary school students' weekend guides in Chengdu museums are a major feature. Almost every large museum has children's guides, and the explanations are detailed and worth listening to. Of course, we can't forget our versatile WeChat public account, which has detailed voice explanations and is very good.
I happened to meet the Sichuan Museum holding an activity, teaching children to copy things on the stone tablet, which was very fun. When visiting the exhibition hall, I happened to catch up with the volunteers giving explanations. Before that, my memory of Sichuan's history only stayed in the Three Kingdoms period, and I didn't know anything about the history before that. After the explanation, Bashu culture seemed to have vitality. A simple stone tablet contains rich culture and thoughts, which is very interesting. I have to admire the imagination of the ancients and feel the breadth of Chinese culture.
The first stop after arriving in Chengdu was to visit the Sichuan Museum. No reservation is required. Just swipe your ID card, pass the security check, and go in directly. There is a row of self-service lockers on the right side that can store packages for free, which is very convenient.
Next to Du Fu Thatched Cottage and Huhuaxi Park, you can visit three attractions at the same time. The museums include the Bronze Museum and Zhang Daqian Museum. I recommend the Zhang Daqian Museum. Many schools organize students to visit here during the summer vacation.
If only one day I could understand them all.
A hundred steps away from the west gate of Du Fu Thatched Cottage is the Sichuan Provincial Museum, which is a must-see for those who have recently fallen in love with exhibition halls. There are various special exhibitions in the exhibition hall, such as the Zhang Daqian Works Hall and the Tibetan Culture Exhibition Hall, which are very distinctive and worth seeing.
Provincial comprehensive museums, with the following features: Zhang Daqian Memorial Hall, Tibetan Cultural Relics Museum, Thousand Buddha Temple Stone Sculptures, etc.
You don't need to make an appointment to enter the museum. You can enter by swiping your ID card. If you don't bring your ID card, you can get a receipt at the door. Remember, you can't bring liquids in, so drink your drinks before entering. This point is recommended for 4 stars. You can learn some knowledge about Sichuan, such as shadow puppets, covered tea, Sichuan cuisine, etc. There are 5 floors in the museum, so we spent quite a long time, and the air conditioning is really cold, so you have to keep warm. We bought shadow puppet postcards inside, which are really good and special.
I went there early and there were not many people. I met a little tour guide, a 10-year-old boy, who was very cute. He took the initiative to explain most of the contents of the Bronze Museum to us. Not bad~
Ever since the crowded Shaanxi History Museum in Xi'an gave me a bad experience, I have been a little worried about going to museums. Fortunately, the Sichuan Museum has allowed me to find a comfortable environment for visiting museums. There are not many people, it is very quiet, and all kinds of public facilities are complete. The layout is similar to the Shanghai Museum, circular, with three floors, each floor has a place to rest, and there are even massage chairs, which is really humane! I stayed here for a long time. Sichuan Museum was founded in 1941 and is located in the Huanhuaxi Historical and Cultural Scenic Area of Chengdu. It is the largest comprehensive museum in the southwest region and a national first-class museum. It is divided into three floors. The first floor is mainly the Sichuan Han Dynasty pottery and stone art exhibition, and most of the exhibits are rough and simple Han Dynasty stone carving art and pottery art; the second floor is mainly composed of the Bashu Bronze Museum, Dafeng Hall (Zhang Daqian Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition Hall), China Calligraphy and Painting Boutique Museum and Porcelain Museum; the third floor is composed of the Light of Tibetan Buddha, Wanfo Temple Stone Carving Museum, Ancient Style and Elegant Arts and Crafts Museum and other areas, most of which reflect the folk customs of Sichuan. Tickets: Free, enter with ID card. Closed on Mondays.
If you have more time to travel in Chengdu, you should go and see it.
As long as time permits, I will still visit the museum. I don't necessarily know much, and I don't necessarily want to know why, but it is still necessary to experience it. Because a lot of gains are gained slowly and invisibly. Give it a try, it is definitely better than holding your phone and looking at your Moments every day!
I was lucky enough to see Zhang Daqian's imitation paintings of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. Shockingly, no matter how much someone offered to buy his imitation paintings, he would not sell them, and finally donated a large number of his imitation paintings to the Sichuan Museum.
I just went to the Three Gorges Museum. Compared with the two venues, the Three Gorges is very new and the content is very interesting. The Sichuan Museum is relatively primitive, but the highlight is the vivid explanation. The explanations of the two teachers are very good. Through the exhibits, we learned a lot of stories behind the exhibits. We benefited a lot, especially the tour guide who was still talking after 5 o'clock. There were many audiences and no one left. I listened very attentively when I heard that Zhang Daqian left his motherland for Taiwan. I couldn't help but burst into tears.
I didn't feel that there were any eye-catching antiques, but I was amazed by the modern porcelain sculptures. I really liked the fat Tathagata in it.
Be sure to come and listen to the lecture, the teacher's explanation is really very good (´▽`ʃƪ)
Maybe because I've been to the Shaanxi Museum, I was a little disappointed with the Sichuan Museum. Because there were no official guides or guides, the explanations on the official account and the fixed points in the museum were not emotional, and there were only a few child volunteers, so I couldn't understand the stories behind many of the collections. I had a quick look and felt a little regretful.
We went there on the first day we arrived in Chengdu. It was free and we got the ticket with our ID card. We went there during the Spring Festival, haha.
It is well worth a visit to learn about history and feel the past. There are self-guided tours in the museum, just scan them with WeChat.
There is a problem with the Sichuan Museum. That is, there are too few text introductions. Each cultural relic has a name and date written on it, but no function or story explained. I think this is not good. Is the museum just trying to make some money from the voice introduction fees?
If you meet young tour guides, you can follow them. I think they explain things better than some tour guides.
But they also memorized the tour guide script, so don't ask too many questions and embarrass them. It's really amazing, at least I can't do it.
You don't need a ticket to enter the Sichuan Museum, you can just swipe your ID card to get in. I strongly recommend it to friends who are visiting Chengdu. There are several museums inside. You can go to the service desk to scan the QR code for a voice guide, and you can connect to the museum's WIFI throughout the whole trip.
There are many more inside. I went there with the intention of participating in the cultural relics and understanding the culture. It took me quite a long time to visit, about 3 hours.
We were so lucky. We came on Saturday and met a great teacher. The teacher was in his fifties and was a volunteer. He explained the Zhang Daqian Art Museum to us in the morning and the Bronze Museum and the Pottery Museum in the afternoon. It took nearly 5 hours in total. I admire his professionalism and his excellent explanations. I have paid for many explanations at other attractions, but they are far worse than this teacher. Today I really felt that "listening to your words is better than reading ten years of books". It's not "one word", it's "one day's talk". 😱I was not so serious and interested in class ten years ago.
In the museum, we also saw cultural relics unearthed in Wanzhou. Since the present-day Wanzhou District of Chongqing City originally belonged to the Wanxian District of Sichuan Province, it was the gateway to eastern Sichuan and an important town in lower eastern Sichuan.
The bronze wares of Bashu are very different from those of the Central Plains, and are more imaginative, but not as exquisite as those of the Central Plains, which also shows that the cultural differences at that time were great. I really like the stone carvings of the pre-Qin and Han dynasties, which are simple in shape and have no affectation at all.
The Sichuan Museum mainly displays pottery, bronze, and a small amount of jade. I didn't see any treasures. 😂Have all the good things been presented to the capital?
