Tagong Grassland

The green grassland was full of purple wildflowers, and the sky was clear. Lying on the grassland, showering in the sunshine, all the troubles disappeared. When we stopped at Tagong Grassland, the two Tibetan girls in the photo ran over to greet us. In order to thank them for their enthusiasm, we quickly gave the two girls the eight-treasure porridge and chocolate we brought in the car. At that time, eight-treasure porridge was still very important to me. Because of stomachache, I couldn't eat dry rice on the road, and my staple food was eight-treasure porridge. I didn't expect that when we left, two girls blocked the front of the car and asked us to pay 100 yuan each. If we didn't pay, they wouldn't let us go, saying it was the cost of taking pictures, which really surprised us. After a positive education for them, each of them gave 20 yuan before letting us go. Spending money is a small matter, but I am still worried about them developing this bad habit since childhood. In fact, most of the Tibetans we met later were still simple and kind.

Kangding is the starting point of National Highway 318 from the western Sichuan plateau into the Tibetan area. Tagong Grassland is the closest pure pastoral grassland to Kangding. In the distance is the sacred Yala Mountain.



The Muya Golden Pagoda located on the Tagong Grassland was built in 1997 with funds donated by Dorje Tashi Living Buddha of Zhuqing Temple, one of the six major Buddhist temples of the Nyingma School (Red Sect). More than 100 kilograms of gold were used in its construction, and it shines particularly brightly under the sunlight.



Seven years ago, the area around the Jinta was still grass. But in recent years, the increasing number of vehicles and tourists has finally led to the "modernization" of the parking lot around the Muya Jinta. Since last year, the grass has been replaced by concrete, and it is difficult to capture the feeling of the past.

From Kangding, we traveled west along the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, crossed the Zheduo Mountain, and then went north after Xinduqiao to Tagong Town. The rivers, grasslands, forests, mountains, temples, Tibetan buildings and rich Tibetan customs along the route constitute the Tagong Grassland Scenic Area. We did not specifically visit the scenic area, but the scenery along the route was already very beautiful.

It was almost evening when we arrived at Tagong Grassland. The sky seemed particularly gloomy. The endless grassland without sunlight also seemed particularly quiet. As the weather was getting colder, we were in no mood to get off the bus to explore. We just took a few photos and continued on our way. It felt like we had wasted most of the day on the road.

We set out from Wuxuhai at 1 o'clock and passed through Tagong Grassland. We happened to encounter a sun shower. After a while, a huge double rainbow appeared in the sky. It felt that the rainbow on the grassland was more gorgeous than the one in the city, and the colors were more distinct. We continued walking forward and a dragon-like sunset appeared in the sky, proving that the road in western Sichuan can always give you surprises.

It is said that people who are obsessed with grasslands have unruly blood flowing in their hearts and their souls have a pair of free wings. There are many grasslands of different sizes encountered along the way, but Tagong Grassland is definitely the one that impressed me the most. As soon as I arrived at the parking lot at the entrance, I was attracted by the Muya Jin Pagoda. It is said that more than 100 kilograms of gold were used in its construction. Even in such rainy weather, it is still dazzling.

There is a vast natural beauty, a large number of grassland creatures, and we even encountered a large group of vultures. I have been to Tibet many times and have never encountered such a large group of wild vultures!

Tagong Grassland is located near Xinduqiao, less than an hour's drive away. It is a plateau grassland at an altitude of 3,730 meters. In my eyes, Tagong has four highlights, all of which are related to the Yala Snow Mountain next to the grassland:



1. The image is outstanding: the Yala Snow Mountain, which is memorable at a glance, and the snow-capped mountains next to it;

2. Muyajin Pagoda, which is often paired with Yala Snow Mountain;

3. Yala Snow Mountain and starry sky;

4. A grassland that is not too flat but has great three-dimensional vision.



The Yala Snow Mountain can be seen from the entire Tagong Grassland without any obstruction. Muyajin Pagoda is the most classic foreground for photographing grasslands and snow-capped mountains. From morning to night, the light is different and each has its own beauty. At sunset, you can see the Yala Snow Mountain shining in the golden mountain on the Tagong Grassland.

Tagong Grassland, the birthplace of Instagram blockbusters. Tagong Grassland is located on the only way to go. Tickets are required, and the price is very low. To put it bluntly, it is an open alpine meadow, which is very suitable for taking pictures, so it is fenced off and made into a tourist attraction. But one thing is that if you come to Tagong Grassland, you have to pay attention to the growth cycle of the grass. The best season is from May to October. There is not much grass in other seasons, so it is necessary to go.

The charges, services and scenery are totally mismatched, it's just a piece of grassland.

After crossing the Yala Pass in the north, the terrain becomes flat and open. Tagong Grassland is a typical plateau grassland. If the weather is good, you can see the Yala Snow Mountain.

There are many people in Tagong Temple. The grassland scenery is pretty good, but the flowers on the grassland are not in bloom during the Dragon Boat Festival.

There is no entrance fee to the grassland on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in western Sichuan. It has blue sky and white clouds, continuous snow-capped mountains, vast sky and land, pleasant scenery, and the altitude is not very high.

I just went there on May Day, the sky was blue and the clouds were white. The grass was not green yet, there were a lot of people, and you could ride horses. You can take pictures of the Yala Snow Mountain here. In the evening, you can take pictures of the golden mountain in the sun. There are beef jerky and other kebabs for sale below. Very good.

Since we are a regular passenger vehicle of the New Sichuan-Tibet Transport Company, tourists often charter my bus to go to western Sichuan. The scenery in western Sichuan is unique and each has its own merits, which makes tourists from afar linger.

Tagong Grassland is located in Tagong Town, Kangding City, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is a plateau area with an altitude of 3,730 meters. It is the most famous grassland in Ganzi Prefecture. Tagong means "a place that Bodhisattva likes" in Tibetan. There are grasslands, snow-capped mountains, temples, and pagoda forests here. It is very vast.

I went there during the Spring Festival. The sky was blue and the clouds were white. There was no grassland. The grass was all yellow. There were not many people. You could ride horses. Adults were fine, but the children had some altitude sickness. We left in a hurry after playing for half an hour.

Tagong Grassland is 3,720 meters above sea level. It rises and falls gently under the sunshine, with lush grass and abundant wild flowers. The Yala Snow Mountain that can be photographed in Tagong Grassland becomes more and more beautiful the more you look at it! It is one of the surprises of the trip!

With the temples and prayer flags as a backdrop, Tagong Grassland looks vast and mysterious. On the green hills, people show off their various poses and take photos with the prayer flags as the background. The picture formed by the pagoda in the distance and the prayer flags on the mountain exudes a strong Buddhist atmosphere.

The grassland is quite large, and it is a good place for taking photos. There is dried yak beef jerky for sale on the edge of the grassland. I think it is delicious. You should buy the spicy one. It is a must-have for watching TV series at home. When your mouth is lonely, you can have two pieces to satisfy your craving! However, it is not only sold in Tagong Grassland, but also along the way. However, you have to choose carefully, the quality is still uneven!

Because we had just encountered a cold wave during the National Day holiday, it was cloudy all the way from Xinduqiao to Tagong. When we arrived at Tagong, there was a few drops of rain. The Tagong grassland without sunshine seemed lifeless.

The cattle, sheep, horses, tents and temples are intertwined, presenting a beautiful and charming scenery. Wandering in the sea of ​​flowers, you will feel like floating in the air!

You can also ride horses here, but we chose to climb up to the viewing platform on our own. Climbing up to the viewing platform, you can overlook a large golden grassland, with the Yala Snow Mountain opposite and the whistling wind. Isn't this the standard picture of a "blockbuster advertisement"? The picture is so beautiful.

Arriving at Tagong Grassland in the early morning, it was a great spot to take photos of the mountains, which exceeded my expectations.

It takes half an hour from Xinduqiao to reach Tagong Grassland. A garbage disposal fee of 10 yuan per person is charged. It takes more than 10 minutes to walk to the top of the mountain. If the weather is good, you can see the snow-capped mountains in the distance.

Maybe because I spent too much time in Hulunbuir, I was not surprised to see Tagong Grassland. I preferred Tagong Temple and the snow-capped mountains in the distance. Tagong Grassland is not large, and the ticket price is 10 yuan. There is a parking lot at the entrance and many local specialties are sold. The lamb kebabs tasted good (but they didn't smell fishy, ​​so I don't know if it was true or not) and there was homemade yogurt.

Tagong Grassland is a favorite place of Bodhisattva. Here you can see the Yala Snow Mountain from afar, and enjoy the golden mountain in the afterglow of the sunset at Muyajin Pagoda.

I came here on the fourth day of the National Day of 2018. There was a traffic jam in Zheduo Mountain in the first two days. Fortunately, I had a safe trip. I saw the reviews of Tagong Grassland on China-TravelNote and planned to stay here for only 20 minutes. As a result, the beauty here greatly exceeded my expectations. The clear sky after the snow showed an invincible beauty of Tagong Grassland. The sun shone on the grassland through the floating white clouds in the sky. The mottled light was intoxicating. The magnificence of Yala Snow Mountain in the near distance was unobstructed! The grassland, river, snow mountain and yaks in the distance merged into a quiet and peaceful picture. It was so beautiful!

The grassland is still very beautiful, but it is a little different from the grassland we understand. The sky is vast, the wilderness is boundless, the wind blows the grass low and you can see cattle and sheep. This poem is definitely not suitable here.

There are snow-capped mountains, grasslands, and temples, which are beautifully matched.

In summer and autumn, the grasslands are covered with blooming flowers, the waters are clear and flowing, and herds of cattle, sheep, horses, tents and temples are intertwined, presenting a beautiful and charming scenery.

Looking far away is the famous Tagong Temple, which is said to be the most famous temple in Yajiang. In the Kham region, it is often said that if you cannot go to Lhasa for pilgrimage, you can also gain the same merit by visiting Tagong Temple for pilgrimage.

There are prayer flags of various sizes scattered all over the grassland, and among them there is a towering prayer flag that is worth seeing.

When the weather is good, the cool autumn wind blows through the prayer flags, and the sound of the prayer flags fluttering on the grassland lasts for a long time. The whole prayer flag is like a triangular Mongolian tent. When you get inside the prayer flag, you feel as if there are countless rainbow prayer flags around you.

The prayer flags look small from a distance, but they are huge up close. Hundreds of people can fit inside.

Entering the prayer flags, it feels like an exhibition of flags from all over the world. The colorful prayer flags swaying above your head in the autumn wind make you feel like you have entered a rainbow palace.

There are some tourists on horseback in the distance. Compared with other scenic spots, Tagong Grassland seems particularly small, with less crowds and more spacious tranquility.

The wind is too strong on Tagong Grassland. If you are not a photography enthusiast, you will shiver and cannot stand it. Also, my mobile phone cannot capture the light.

Insert a sentence: Wearing a hat at this time is not only for sun protection, but also for wind protection. If the head is blown by the cold wind on the plateau, it will hurt a lot~

The grassland is a fusion of grasslands, snow-capped mountains and Muyajin Pagoda, the scenery is indeed sacred

We galloped on the Tagong grassland all the way, and especially when we met a group of tourists wearing Mongolian costumes taking photos halfway, I instantly felt that I was not in the plateau, but in Mongolia, haha. There are many grasslands fenced by Tibetans on the Tagong grassland. More than a dozen herdsmen gathered their horses together and started a business of riding horses for tourists. We found a good grassland to gallop on horseback together and share the prosperity of the world.

Generally speaking, it's OK. I drove here by myself and didn't go to the temple. The scenery is beautiful when the weather is good. The grassland is not big. If you haven't been to other grasslands, I suggest you drive there. I don't recommend it...

The Tagong grassland is fine from a distance, but it has rained a lot during this period, and the grass is wet, especially where there are horses, full of mud mixed with horse manure and hoof prints, so there is no reason to go in. Even the wild flowers on the grassland are not as beautiful as those on the roadside along the way.

In fact, the best thing is that it is right next to the road. As for the scenery, it depends on our mentality, the people we travel with, and the eyes with beautiful hairstyles.

After a quick trip, I felt that Tagong Grassland was not worth it! So I navigated back, and later found that Tagong Grassland had just begun, and the scenery behind was a hundred times more beautiful than that next to Tagong Temple! The horse riding field only costs 40 yuan per horse, and you can ride it as much as you want!

When we first saw the grassland, we were very disappointed: it was just a hillside covered with grass, and it cost 10 yuan! But as we drove forward, we found a different scenery ahead! The prayer corridor outside the grassland is where you can pray for peace.

It is different from the grassland I imagined before. There are slopes and bumps, and you have to climb for a while to reach the top. You can also choose to ride a horse, but 100 yuan is still a bit expensive!

The scent of green grass, the endless green, the undulating hillsides, the winding stream, the small flowers all over the mountains, the leisurely and comfortable grazing cattle... everything is so leisurely and beautiful. The whole scenery is very three-dimensional, and the colors are rendered extremely naturally and exquisitely, which is fascinating and intoxicating.

The nearest pure pastoral grassland to Kangding. Along the way, you can experience many plateau scenery, Tibetan buildings and rich Tibetan customs. There are herdsmen grazing on the grassland. A man will come over and ask if you want to ride a horse. It costs 50 yuan per round.

Looking out from the Tagong grassland, you can see the snow-capped Yala Mountains. I suddenly had the idea to go and have a look. I checked the navigation and it was about 45 kilometers away. So I just went. This is the fun of self-driving. Although it seems like you are driving aimlessly, you can often encounter surprises.

One cannot help but marvel at the wonders of nature here; looking ahead, the sky is covered with dark clouds, but turning around, the sky is clear and sunny.

Although it was a bit regrettable, the weather on the plateau is like this, changing at any time, every moment is new and unknown. Two months later, the Tagong Grassland will hold the annual Shuabazi event. At this time, the grassland is full of various Tibetan tents, folk horse racing activities and singing and dancing performances, which is very lively.

Although we came at the wrong season and the new grass has not grown yet, it is still quite touching to see this yellow expanse!

Tagong Grassland is very beautiful, with blue sky, green grassland, strong Tibetan customs, and the sacred Yala Snow Mountain in the distance. The entrance fee is 10 yuan, and the toilet fee is 1 yuan.

Tagong Grassland is about 40 minutes' drive from Xinduqiao. Now that the road has been repaired, it is very easy to drive there. It is an alpine grassland that stretches into the distance. Nearby is Tagong Township. Due to tourism, there are many places to eat and stay. Public services are still relatively average.

Between Bamei and Xinduqiao, just stop the passing bus on the roadside. There is a 10 yuan cleaning fee to enter the grassland, but you don't have to go in, you can still see the Yala Snow Mountain from the outer grassland.

It is a good choice to go there in early July, when you can ride horses and see wild flowers everywhere.

It is the only choice for tourists who come to western Sichuan to ride horses and gallop across the plateau grasslands. However, due to the cold weather, not many people go horseback riding, so the price is relatively cheap. For 20 yuan per person, you can ride on a horse for an hour. It is quite safe. Unlike the Hulunbuir grassland where you are left alone, in Tagong Tibetans will follow you the whole time to ensure your safety.
