Tanghu Park

棠湖公园

Thousands of crabapple species are gathered in one garden, which can be regarded as the best crabapple in China. In the southwest of Shuangliu County, Chengdu, there is a verdant antique garden accompanied by the glittering lake light, which is particularly dazzling. This is Tanghu Park, which is known as the pearl of western Sichuan.
Tanghu Park was founded in 1986, at the beginning of the "Seventh Five-Year Plan". It was carefully designed and built after two years of construction using the old river channel and the unique bamboo forest courtyard in the rural areas of western Sichuan. This park has the natural scenery of Bashu mountains and rivers, beautiful scenery, and the characteristics of northern, southern and Lingnan gardens. ·The park covers an area of more than 200 acres, ranking first among all parks in Chengdu. The park has a profound historical and cultural heritage, condensing the aura of Shuangliu mountains and rivers, the essence of the region, and condensing the historical relics, cultural landscapes, beautiful rivers and mountains, and the style of the times on 1,070 square kilometers of land. The whole park is divided into eight major scenic spots, including "Green Willows and Lotuses in the Wind", "Qushang Picking Beauty", "Begonia Spring Dock", "Xunfeng Majestic", and "Across the Lake Smoke and Rain", with dozens of scenic spots such as "Yuliu Listening to the Waves", "Tanglin Spring Scenery", "Wenjin Watching Fish", "Wanxia Sunset", "Phoenix Whispering", "Golden Flower Night Moon", "Ancient Ferry Competition", "Zhudao Cool Breeze", and "Ancient Pagoda Sightseeing".
Buildings, terraces, pavilions, pavilions, corridors, ancestral halls, pavilions and towers of various shapes are scattered in the park, some are built by the lake, some are built by the canal, and some are built on the platform. Each has its own unique style. Fifteen bridges and corridors of various styles connect them into pieces and strings. Walking through them, it seems as if you have entered the long peach and willow embankment of West Lake, the garden pavilions of Suzhou, the rippling clear water of Dianchi Lake, and the winding Huaxi River. It is refreshing and like entering a fairyland, fully showing the collection-style pattern of multiple scenic spots in ancient Chinese royal gardens. The park is full of bamboo seas, beautiful forests, birds chirping at dawn and dusk, and flowers blooming all year round. In particular, the crabapple, which is "uniquely famous in Shu", is spread all over the park. It is famous for its many varieties and good flower quality. In particular, the iron-footed crabapple produced on the banks of Gufu River and Muma Hill is a unique one, recreating the beautiful scene of "tens of thousands of branches at the head of the Jin River" in the Tang Dynasty. The park got its name from this.
Over the past decade, Tanghu District Office has highlighted the public welfare, social and cultural tourism connotations, and successfully held the "21st Chengdu Lantern Festival", "Five Continents International Lantern Festival" and the annual Begonia Flower Festival, as well as the "Tanghu International Calligraphy Invitational Exhibition" and other cultural activities that are well-known at home and abroad. It is always crowded with domestic and foreign guests, and poets and writers frequently favor it, with an average of more than 500,000 visitors per year.

Tanghu Park is a landmark of Shuangliu District. It has a pavilion commemorating Jiang Wan and is also a good place to enjoy flowers. Now it is directly accessible by Metro Line 3.

Tanghu Park is hosting the Begonia Blossom Show. The park is relatively large and distinctive, with many beautiful views. There are also many people rowing boats, and many middle-aged and elderly people singing and dancing. They sing very well, adding a lot of cheerful atmosphere to the park. The key is that there are no tickets yet, so it is worth a visit.

Shuangliu's Tanghu Park is the best place to see crabapples, from February 28 to the end of March (a month). Tanghu Park is not far away, and you can walk there in 20 minutes. The area is not large, and most of the crabapples are stalked crabapples, and there are also Japanese crabapples, which were no longer visible when I went there.

Tanghu Park is located next to Tanghu Middle School in Shuangliu County. There are many crabapple flowers in the park, and there is also a large lake. This may be the origin of the name of Tanghu Park. The park does not require tickets. There are many green trees and beautiful environment. There are also many seats for tourists to rest. It feels good. It is a place for locals to do morning exercises and take a walk after dinner. It is also a place for the elderly to drink tea, chat and play cards during the day. Every February and March when the crabapple flowers are in full bloom is the best tourist viewing season. This should be a very good place to go out in spring.
