It is located on the best scenic line of Xinduqiao, Bamei, and Danba Beauty Valley, a photography paradise. It is about 5,820 meters above sea level. Yala Snow Mountain is one of the famous landmarks on the Ancient Tea Horse Road, and is also one of the four sacred mountains recorded in the historical book "King Gesar's Journey", known as the "Second Shambhala". The treasure cave on the mountain preserves the bows and armor left here by King Gesar during his expedition as treasures of the mountain, as well as the scriptures written by the Fifth Dalai Lama, Lobsang Gyatso, which are extremely precious.

The Yala Snow Mountain is blocked by clouds, and only the mountains covered with heavy snow can be seen. I met a father and son who came up the mountain to do horseback riding business on a snowy day. They were all villagers nearby. When they saw a car driving up, they rode horses. The child was about 12 or 13 years old. He took guests to ride horses with his father during the holidays to supplement the family income. Looking at the backs of the father and son, I suddenly felt very moved and had the urge to cry. When the weather is clear, you can clearly see the Yala Snow Mountain. In fact, it is difficult to say which one I like more? Probably because I know there is always a chance to arrive, so I don’t force it. After seeing the clear weather, the snowy day seems to have a feminine atmosphere and a dormant feeling, just waiting for the sun to appear, and the beauty will be shown to you.

Turn from S215 to Provincial Highway 303

At the junction of Kangding, Daofu and Danba counties

From Bamei to Danba, the road goes downhill before entering the canyon

It is the best observation point to overlook the Yala Snow Mountain

Its beauty, seen from afar, has already made my heart beat fast.

The hillside is covered with redwood and rhododendron bushes

Forming a wonderful natural painting

Yala Snow Mountain is located at the junction of Kangding, Daofu and Danba counties. It is one of the four sacred mountains in Tibet. In Tibetan, its full name is "Xiaxue Yala Gabo" (meaning Eastern White Yak Mountain), also known as "Second Shambhala". The so-called Shambhala is the place where the gods live, which is the ideal state in the minds of Tibetans.

The locals also call Yala Snow Mountain "Cannon Mountain". The shapes of Yala Snow Mountain vary depending on where you look at it: from Bamei, it looks like a crown; from Xinduqiao, it looks like a lotus.

The Yala Snow Mountain is 5,884 meters above sea level, with snow on the top all year round and clouds and mist lingering. I have passed by Tagong Temple several times, but only this time did I truly and clearly see the majestic appearance of the sacred mountain. It happened to be the best time, the sunset fell, the red clouds were like fire, and the sun shone on the golden mountain. It felt like being in the fairyland.

Along the northern Sichuan-Tibet route, drive from Danba to Bamei, passing through many beautiful or interesting attractions such as Donghe Valley, Yak Valley, Guoding Mountain, Huiyuan Temple and Reshuitang. The author believes that the best part of this section is that you can see the Yala Snow Mountain twice (Laughing Bee), the first time in Erdaoban and the second time in Tagong Grassland. Of course, the premise is that the weather is good enough.

When I saw the golden mountain in the sun shining on the Yala Snow Mountain, I, a child who had never seen the world, was still shocked.

At the entrance of the scenic area, there are several women dressed in local clothes collecting the so-called garbage fee, 10 yuan each. I rented a white horse to take pictures. She wanted 80 yuan, but I sold it to her for 50 yuan.

Located beside the S215 Provincial Road, the Muya Golden Pagoda is shining with golden light under the blue sky and white clouds, and the Yala Snow Mountain is majestic and cold under the sun, and the scenery is pleasing to the eye. There is a parking lot in front of the Muya Golden Pagoda, but the best place to take pictures of the snow mountain and the golden pagoda is to stand on the hillside beside the road. Local Tibetans stop you to collect money (10 yuan), and there are no public toilets nearby.

Sunrise seems to be the medium between heaven and earth, the holy land leading to the divine world. The sunlight gradually becomes stronger, and the dark mountains are covered with a layer of golden yarn, and the outlines become clearer. The most dreamy moment has arrived. There is a scene between the sky and the mountains, which is very similar to the description of the gods performing miracles on the earth in religious literature. It changes unpredictably for a long time. Between heaven and earth, I can't tell whether the fog in the mountains rises to the sky and becomes clouds, or the water vapor in the clouds falls to the ground and becomes rain. I can only feel that I am so small. Looking around, everything is so unreal. How can people in ancient times not imagine the fairyland of gods when they see this scene?

The shapes of the Yala Snow Mountain vary from different places: from Tagong, it looks like a lotus, from Bamei, it looks like a crown. If the weather is good, you can see several light green glaciers along the mountain, and a big waterfall on the cliff. From the west, Yala looks like a burning fire, and from the north, it looks like the virtuous Bamei woman.

Yala Snow Mountain is a famous snow-capped mountain in the Kham region. The top of the mountain is covered with snow and shrouded in mist all year round. It is said that being able to see the snow-capped peak of Yala Snow Mountain is a great blessing for you.

When we looked at the Yala Snow Mountain from the Tagong Grassland, it was shaped like a lotus throne surrounded by petals.

I like snow-capped mountains very much. When I am in a bad mood, all my worries will suddenly disappear when I see them. October is the beginning of the dry season in the plateau. It is normal to have sunny days for a month. If you like to see snow-capped mountains, this season is a good choice. However, due to environmental changes in recent years, there is much less snow on the snow-capped mountains.

Although Yala Snow Mountain is one of the eight sacred mountains in Tibet, it may be the most approachable snow mountain in western Sichuan for ordinary tourists. Starting from Xinduqiao, go north along Provincial Highway 215. On the grasslands and winding mountain roads along the way, you can see the lotus-shaped Yala Snow Mountain from time to time, and Tagong Grassland may be the best viewing point on the way. However, if you want to get close to Yala, you undoubtedly need to hike. On Provincial Highway 215 between Bamei and Danba, there is a clear sign for "Yala Snow Mountain Scenic Area". Come in from the sign, drive until you can't drive anymore, abandon the car and walk, and you will soon reach the beautiful Yala Youcuo. This lake is almost untouched except for local lamas. The lake water is the clearest I have ever seen, and it is highly recommended. If you are in good physical condition, you can continue to Yala Hot Spring and Sister Sea, both of which can have a different experience.

By Li Zhonghai |

The four-wheel drive off-road vehicle drove to the end of the road, and the wild boars on the mountain were not afraid of people. After an hour's hike, we saw the holy lake under the snow-capped mountains, which was no less than the Five Color Lake in Aden. On the road, we met a survey team who were going to build a road for development.

After crossing the Gedaliangzi Pass, you enter the Yala Scenic Area. Not only can you appreciate the magnificence of the Yala Snow Mountain from a distance, but you can also enter Taizhan Valley and walk through the primeval forest to reach the glaciers and lakes at the foot of the Yala Snow Mountain.

Yala Snow Mountain, whose full Tibetan name is "Xaxue Yala Gabo", means the Eastern White Yak Mountain. It is one of the four sacred mountains in the Tibetan area of China.

Traveling along Taizhan Valley towards Yala Snow Mountain, we encountered a river bend on the way. The angle was just right for capturing the snow-capped mountains, forests and rivers in the scene.

At this moment, the sky is cloudless. Under the blue sky, the bright moonlight and the red-glowing Yala Snow Mountain complement each other, forming a beautiful picture.

When a row of snow-capped mountains appeared in front of me without any cover, I couldn't help but exclaimed, how could it be so beautiful? How could it be so spectacular? ? ? But the weather must be good to see the whole picture of the snow-capped mountains, so it's better to check the weather throughout the trip!

There are three viewing points:

1. Off-road vehicles can drive directly into the Yala Snow Mountain National Park on the national highway. The road is a dirt road with some craters.

2. The viewing platform near the national highway near Gedalliangzi, where you can see the snow-capped mountains

3. The hillside behind Muyajin Pagoda allows you to take photos of the pagoda under the snow-capped mountains

The shapes of the Yala Snow Mountain are different when viewed from different places: from Bamei, it looks like a crown, and from Xinduqiao, it looks like a lotus. I stayed at the viewing platform at the pass for half an hour and took a few photos of the distant view.

When you drive along China's Giant Panda Avenue, you can see that there is an observation deck on the road, but the name on the observation deck says Yala Snow Mountain, so it feels a bit different. There are many stalls on the observation deck, and the meat skewers seem to be 10 yuan for 4 skewers. It's so satisfying to eat.

One of the four sacred mountains in Tibet, the source of the Yala River. The peak of the Yala sacred mountain looks like a crown and can be recognized from a long distance. It was cloudy that day, so I didn’t take a photo of the Golden Mountain. I feel a little regretful.

I only stayed at Yala Mountain for one day, so I can't simply evaluate it. I will spend more time in the future, waiting at the foot of the mountain, circumambulating the mountain from different angles, and looking up at it in different weather conditions, so that I can have more experience. Tibetans have worshipped it as a sacred mountain for generations, so it must have amazing magic power.

By Bunto Takao |

In the distance is the towering Yala Snow Mountain, with peaks that are dark black and white because of the snow. Yala Snow Mountain is known as the "Holy Mountain" in Tibet. Although it is dozens of kilometers away from Tagong, the majesty of the sacred mountain cannot be desecrated. Standing at the entrance of Tagong and looking at the Yala Holy Mountain, I instantly understood why the ancients worshipped nature. Human beings are so small in front of the mighty power of nature, not just in terms of size, weight, quantity, etc. This contrast is completely overwhelming and unequal. Even if I look at the Yala Snow Mountain from a distance, I have an urge to prostrate myself on the ground. This is a completely involuntary feeling. Human beings reproduce and thrive on the earth, and the attachment imprinted in our hearts is too deep that when facing Mother Nature, this attachment will arise spontaneously and form a primitive worship. Therefore, the legend of the sacred mountain and holy water is passed down from generation to generation regardless of region or nationality.

In 2004, I passed by this place at night during my trip to Daocheng Yading, but I didn’t see the Yala Snow Mountain.

In 2013, I went to Danba Jiaju Tibetan Village and visited Yak Valley Hot Springs. However, when we reached the Yala Snow Pass, it was foggy and snowy, so we couldn’t see it.

During the National Day in 2016, I finally saw it three times in one day. The scenery was different each time, and I saw it to my heart’s content.

Yala Youcuo One-Day Tour Guide

From Bamei, you can drive straight in from Taizhangou for about 10 kilometers. The road is not very good and it is easy to scrape the chassis. Go around the unfinished houses similar to tourist centers and continue driving until there is no road. Basically, the water is blocked. You need to walk through the broken wood and the river. Continue walking, follow the fork in the road, go uphill to the left, and follow a very wide and obvious road. After about 1-2 hours, you can reach the plain at the foot of the mountain. You can see a waterfall under the snow mountain. Below the waterfall is Youcuo Lake. You need to jump over or wade through several streams and follow a horse-drawn road to the bottom of the waterfall. You can see the lake in about half an hour.

I have been longing for the Yala Snow Mountain for a long time, because I have read many mysterious and beautiful descriptions of it. It is said to be one of the four sacred mountains in the Tibetan area of China, known as the "Second Shambhala", the patron saint of the Kham region, and means "Shede" in Tibetan, a sacred mountain representing sacrifice and dedication.

Driving along S303 and S215, from Danba Reshuitang, Daofu Bamei to Kangding Tagong, you can see Yala Snow Mountain from three sides during the 50-kilometer journey. From the north, it looks like a sitting Buddha, from the west, it looks like a crown, and from the south, it looks like a lotus throne.

Yala Snow Mountain, whose full Tibetan name is "Xaxue Yala Gabo" (meaning Eastern White Yak Mountain), is one of the four sacred mountains in China's Tibetan area. It is located at the junction of Kangding, Daofu and Danba counties in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with an altitude of 5,884 meters, facing the Molduo Sacred Mountain to its northwest. The top of the mountain is covered with snow all year round. It is a famous sacred mountain in the Kham area. The Yala River originates here. On the mountainside of the Yala Sacred Mountain, which is more than 4,000 meters high, there are two lakes less than 300 meters apart. Their water flows in the north-south direction and flows into the two sides of the ridge, forming a beautiful natural landscape.

In fact, we did not actually go to this snow mountain, but just looked at it from a distance, but it is a good route with easy and beautiful scenery. During the National Day holiday in 2012, we hiked the Yala Snow Mountain, a relatively unknown route. The weather was very bad throughout the long holiday. It was fine if there was no sun, but we were also hit by rain and snow, which continued to harass us day and night. The worst thing was the hailstorm at the Yala Pass, which was exposed to the elements. The hailstones as big as broad beans hit us, which was the most unforgettable hiking experience.

Yala Snow Mountain is located in Xiede Township, southeast of Daofu County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is 5,820 meters above sea level. It is the second highest peak in the Great Snow Mountain Range. It is far away from Gongga Mountain and is also one of the sacred mountains in the eyes of Tibetans. The starting point of the mountaineering is Zhonggu Village (3,002 meters above sea level). From the entrance of the village, you can see the whole picture of the snow mountain. The climb to Yala starts from Zhonggu Village. It is estimated that it will be around 3 or 4 pm when you set off to Dongpo Camp. Dongpo Camp is a very wide lawn with an altitude of 3,600 meters. Continue to camp in a place with water source. On a clear night, you can light a bonfire and have fun. As a result, the local camp was covered with dark clouds at night, and then it rained all night. Several tents were flooded, and the rain directly penetrated into the tents, and the sleeping bags were all wet.

The second day's hike was more physically demanding. It took 2 hours to cross the pass, and the whole day's hike was 8 hours. The highest altitude was about 4,300. The intensity of crossing the pass was quite high, and I was troubled by altitude sickness all the way. On the way, I passed the beautiful sister lake (Yari Acuo). After passing the sister lake, I was considered to have crossed the pass. I could see the green lake Yala Youcuo from afar, and then I encountered unforgettable hail, which was a sobering experience. After coming down the mountain, I camped next to the legendary Yala Youcuo. The green lake was indeed very beautiful, but it was a pity that the weather was not good, so I couldn't see the beauty of the sacred mountain by the lake.
