Lulang Forest Sea is located on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, about 80km east of Bayi Town in Nyingchi Prefecture, at an altitude of about 3,700m. It is a typical narrow strip of plateau mountain meadow. The forest sea is composed of bushes and dense spruce and pine trees in the green mountains on both sides. The trees are mainly Cyclobalanopsis. In the middle of the forest sea is a neat meadow with winding streams. In addition, there are a large number of birds living here. From mid-April to early June every year, thousands of wild flowers bloom, and the clouds and mists in the mountains gather and disperse from time to time. The snow-capped mountains, forests, and countryside outline a quiet and beautiful "mountain residence picture".

Lulang is located north of the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon and east of Nyingchi City. Lulang means "where the gods live". There is a saying among the people that "when you arrive at Gongbu Lulang, you will forget your hometown". I came to Lulang in May 2018. Although it was about to enter summer, the temperature in the Lulang mountain area was still very low, and sporadic snowflakes were occasionally scattered on the primeval forest.
A forest in the sea of clouds and fog, it is known as "a place that makes people miss home". The whole scenic spot is picturesque, with snow-capped mountains standing in the surrounding area, lush forests in the valley, green mountains and rivers in the area, and huge primeval forests that are green all year round.
From Nyingchi to Gangxiang, there is a large continuous spruce forest, lush and green, with trunk diameters of more than 2 meters and tree heights of more than 80 meters, which is spectacular. Among them, the spruce forest in Gangxiang is the most famous. However, in winter, due to the tour group, the farthest we went this time was only Lulang. However, the Lulang forest is also quite unique.
After that, I basically took photos on the way there, so I didn’t stay for too long, all the way to Lulang Forest Sea. I saw the clouds lingering, gathering, and crowding on the mountain tops, gradually filling the valley. The forest sea with a radius of dozens of miles looked even more fairy-like against the backdrop of the clouds.
About 10 kilometers from Sejila Pass to Lulang Town, you will see the Lulang Forest Sea scenic spot on the roadside. To get to the viewing platform, you have to walk down the stairs for more than 100 meters. We took this photo behind a row of small houses on the roadside.
The Lulang Forest Sea is a series of hills planted with big trees, and it feels just so-so.
The beautiful Jiangnan style makes people linger in the beauty of Linzhi
We were stuck in traffic for nearly 2 hours while crossing the famous Lulang Forest Sea, but the snow falling from the sky made everyone cheer.
A large virgin forest, but we went there at a bad time, so it was not fully green yet. I recommend going there in summer.
It feels like a forest and snowy plains, it is really beautiful.
The overall scenery is very good, but the infrastructure is slightly weak.
The scenery is nice, Zhatang Lucuo in Lulang, it’s better to have a vacation if you have more time, just stop by and visit!
The rainy day is full of clouds and mist, which is more artistic than the sunny day.
Beautiful. I like this kind of scenery. ...
Lulang is a place that makes people miss home. It is about 80 kilometers away from Bayi Town. It only takes one and a half hours to get there by renting a pure electric "Linzhi Car".
The large forests are all extremely tall coniferous forests unique to high altitude areas.
The scenery in Linzhi is as beautiful as that in Jiangnan.
There are no more than 10 people in the whole scenic area, including the two of us. I don't know why there are so few people! The scenic area is actually very ordinary. For us who have just been in Daocheng for a few days, we really can't get interested! But the photos we took are okay!
After passing the Tongmai Pass, we arrived at Lulang. While waiting for the stone pot chicken, we went to play for a while.
Before coming here, I looked up some pictures of the forest and pastures. The dense plants, streams and grazing cows in the forest have earned it the nickname "Little Switzerland", so I was particularly looking forward to it. However, it was early autumn when I came, and the colors of the vegetation were not yet fully mature, plus it was a cloudy day, so I didn't manage to capture the lush and richly layered vegetation. But there were a few snowflakes falling, and standing in the woods I still felt like I was in a state of ecstasy. In front of the winding mountains, we are all so small and insignificant, and the trees here, even the small ones, live their entire lives just to add vitality.
Although it is not well-known, it is really worth a visit! Full of pastoral style! Tickets are 80 yuan, and the sightseeing bus is 80 yuan. You can choose not to take the sightseeing bus, but it is really big inside, and it takes at least two or three hours to walk back and forth.
You can see Mount Nanga Bawa from the viewing platform here.
The mountains are covered with green pine trees, and white clouds are passing through them. The pine trees and the blue sky and white clouds complement each other, and the beauty is very similar to that of Jiangnan, but more transparent than that of Jiangnan.
When I saw Lulang Forest Sea, I really felt that this was where the gods lived, but I couldn't capture its beauty.
The sun shines through the clouds and into the valley, coating the forest with a layer of silver light. It is undoubtedly a fairyland!
When I went there, the weather was very bad and it was snowing, so I didn't see Mount Nanga Bawa.
"Lulang" means "Dragon King Valley" in Tibetan. It is the place where the Dragon King lives and it is also a place where "people don't want to go home". The area is full of green mountains and rivers. There are huge primeval forests that are green all year round and lush with trees, and rhododendrons all over the mountains.
When we arrived at the viewing platform of Lulang Forest Sea, there was heavy fog and a white sky in the distance. Lulang Forest Sea has now turned into Lulang Cloud Sea.
The forest shrouded in clouds and mist looks like a watercolor painting in the foreground and an ink painting in the background.
The damp and cold air was a bit biting, and there was a cold icy rain. There were not many angles to take photos from the observation deck. I set up the camera to take a time-lapse photo and then called it a day.
We continued walking for a while and came to another viewing platform of Lulang Forest Sea. The name of this platform is Pastoral Scenery. It is to see Lulang Town from a high place. However, the fields have been harvested at this time, revealing patches of yellow land. The dark clouds gathered on the top of the mountain are still thick. If it is a sunny day, this is such a beautiful place.
Wild flowers can no longer be seen in autumn, but flowers can be seen blooming everywhere in June, July and August. Tourists who want to see them need to seize the time. They can also experience horseback riding and archery.
It is October now, and Lulang has finally revealed the breath of autumn. The pines and fir trees nearby, the meadows a little further away, and the snow-capped mountains standing in the surroundings are all hidden in the clouds and mist.
There are pine and fir trees all over the mountains, small houses dotted among the green grass, and clear and winding streams running all the way, which is quite reminiscent of the European Black Forest.
If you haven't seen it with your own eyes, you would definitely think of it as a fairy tale in a child's dream.
If you continue walking upward, you will reach the Lulang Forest Scenic Area on the side of G318 (on the left). There is a parking lot at the entrance. The ticket price is 50 yuan, and students can get half the ticket. You should go in and take a look. You can also see Mount Nanga Bawa here. It's just that the pine trees in October are in this old green look. It's the worst when the plants are neither yellow nor green. Below is the vast primeval forest, which is the so-called sea of forests. In summer, the pines here are green and lush, which is much more pleasing to the eye!
Lulang Forest and Niyang River Scenic Area are both very good scenic spots, especially Lulang Scenic Area. We did not enter the scenic area, but looked at it across the water on the side of Road 318. The effect is no less than that in the scenic area. You can have a panoramic view of the whole scenic area, like a fairyland, which is really beautiful.
Well, Lulang Forest Sea is a forest, which may be related to the cloudy weather in the morning and the time we came to Linzhi. It is said that the scenery in the plateau area depends on the weather.
Early in the morning, we rushed to the Lulang Forest Viewing Platform. When we were at the foot of the mountain, it was covered with dark clouds. When we got to the top of the mountain, it was a sea of clouds, like a fairyland.
Playing, walking and taking photos in this paradise-like town makes me feel extremely happy.
When you come to Lulang, you must try Lulang Stone Pot Chicken. All ingredients are freshly picked and cooked, pure green and natural, pollution-free; the taste is delicious, the chicken is tender; but the seasoning is a little spicy.
Lulang is famous for its trees. It is a national forest reserve. The types of trees vary with the altitude. Most of the trees on the hillside are deciduous trees. In autumn, the whole mountain is covered with golden forests, which is very spectacular. At the top of the mountain, it gradually turns into a green coniferous forest. It is humid and rainy all year round, and the mountains are often shrouded in mist.
The feeling of happiness was overwhelming, and Lulang Forest Sea did not disappoint me. It is said that Lulang Forest Sea is known as the Little Switzerland of the East. I have never been to Switzerland, but it is not bad here. It feels like a sky realm~
Lulang Town was developed by Evergrande and is very beautiful. The natural scenery is also very good. I think it is worth coming here at any time.
Lulang Forest Lake is not far from Sejila Mountain. The ticket price is 15 yuan per person. Visitors can overlook the pine forest in the valley from the observation deck. To be honest, there is nothing much to see in Lulang Forest Lake. Visitors can overlook a large pine forest below the mountain from the distant mountain top. This kind of attraction is common to us travelers from the south.
The geographical significance of Lulang Forest Sea is far greater than its tourism significance.
It is said that the Lulang Forest Sea is full of clouds and majestic. It was a pity that I walked to the observation deck in the drizzle. I saw only a few huge pine trees. The Lulang Forest Sea was surrounded by clouds and it was white. I took a photo when I was here. I stood on the observation deck and saw the scenery that I couldn’t see behind me - the beautiful Lulang Forest Sea.
The wonder of Lulang Forest Sea, and I was lucky to see a rainbow. The sea of clouds and the rainbow are more beautiful than anything else. In order to see the rainbow, we got off the car and ran to the viewing platform. I forgot that we couldn't do strenuous exercise on the plateau, and I only thought about the beautiful scenery. The rainbow existed for a short time and disappeared in a short while. I was very satisfied to see two rainbows in one day.
There is a paid viewing platform in Lulang Forest Sea, but the forest sea is just as beautiful on the way down the mountain.
I originally thought it was a large scenic spot where I could be surrounded by a sea of forests. But after entering, I found that it was just a viewing platform. I climbed up and looked out over the vast sea of forests. I was a little disappointed. Fortunately, the sky was clear at that time and the view was excellent. I saw the blue sky and white clouds and the vast sea of forests. It was worth the trip!
We arrived at the Lulang Forest Viewing Platform at nine o'clock. The mornings in the rainy season are always foggy, and only Mount Namjagbarwa can be seen vaguely.
The area is densely packed with trees adapted to being grown in high altitude areas. There is one type of tree that aroused our curiosity. It looks like a pine tree, but the top of the tree is drooping as if it had been burned.
Lulang Forest Sea really reflects that the Nyingchi area is the Jiangnan of Tibet. The vegetation is so dense, a sea of green. Because it is autumn, the colors are very rich. The scenery of the Yin and Yang slopes is quite different, which is very suitable for taking pictures. The best time to visit Lulang Forest Sea is undoubtedly from July to mid-September every year. At this time, the forest is lush, the grass and trees are flourishing, and wild flowers are everywhere. Before July and after September, the plateau climate plus warm and humid air currents will make it damp and cold. There are some big rivers along the way, and the water is mint green, which is a great scenery along the way.
Lulang Forest Sea is all about climbing high and looking far... The viewing platform requires 21 tickets, and you have to walk a long way to get there. In fact, you can take pictures of the same scenery on the way to Zhaxigang Village on the left side of the tourist center. A regular check-in and photo-taking spot.
Around five in the afternoon, we arrived at the Lulang Forest Sea, an endless, neatly-lined forest, lush green, with white clouds and mist lingering in between, and the air was fresh and rich. At the beginning, it was still cloudy, with some clouds thick and some thin. When we were about to leave, the clouds suddenly cleared and a rainbow appeared from the forest, surrounded by clouds and mist that had not yet dispersed, and crossed to the other side of the mountain. At that moment, it was so beautiful that my heart flew up.
It may be due to the season. The forest in August is all green without much layering. It will be much better in autumn. The ticket is 30 yuan, and the elderly and teachers are 50% off. You need to show your ID card and teacher's card.
This month does not seem to be the best season to view Nyingchi. There are no flowers all over the mountains, and the air is cold and damp. The clouds may also be in a bad mood these days, and they are dark and gloomy.
There are large tracts of green forests here that are connected to the mountains. The trees are mainly vertical spruce and pine trees. The scenery is very fresh and beautiful. It is also a good place to take blockbuster photos. The Lulang Forest Sea covers a large area. If you are lucky, you can take a photo of Mount Namjagbarwa in the scenic area.
The highest forest in the world. Located in the deep mountains and old forests, due to the latitude and climate, it is a forest of clouds and fog, like a poem and a picture. There are artificially repaired meadows around it, as well as winding streams and wild flowers in full bloom. When you enter Lulang Forest Sea, you can drive freely. There are small wild flowers dotted on the meadows on both sides, and cattle and horses are running and grazing freely. The picture is so beautiful that it seems unreal.
The car drove up Demula Mountain, where you can see the whole view of Lulang Forest. We drove up along the mountain road. The road condition on the mountain is very poor, full of gullies, and it is impossible to climb without an off-road vehicle. The scenery on the top of the mountain is beautiful.
It was getting dark when we arrived, and the sky was covered with dark clouds, which greatly affected the view. We walked all the way from the parking spot to the observation deck, climbing up and down the slope. It was really tiring. We didn't even have the energy to take pictures. We hurriedly clocked in and got in the car.
Lulang Forest Sea was disappointing. The ticket price was 30 yuan. Of course, it was also because of the bad weather. When I went in, I saw a vast expanse of white. It was a sea of clouds.
Buy a ticket to enter the scenic area, walk a few steps to a viewing platform, and then it's over. It takes less than 10 minutes.
It’s unknown how old the trees here are. When walking through them, the trunks feel tall and dark, with a sense of mystery, which reminds people of the ancient dense forests in movies and novels. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take any pictures because I was sitting in the car and the pixel of my mobile phone was not good. You must experience this place in person!
Overlooking the entire forest from the observation deck, the clouds and mist are rising, just like a fairyland!
Many trees are hung with white Hada
Lulang Forest Sea is a rather unique place in Tibet. The whole plateau is mostly bare mountains, but here, the clouds are steaming, the atmosphere is majestic, and the scenery is beautiful. The snow-capped mountains and glaciers in the distance complement the primitive forests, villages, and rivers nearby. The whole of Nyingchi is called the Little Jiangnan of Tibet, and I think it is more vividly expressed in Lulang Forest Sea.
We can park at any place on the roadside to enjoy the scenery without having to buy tickets to enter the enclosed attractions.
We didn’t see Mount Namjagbarwa in the distance, but along the way there were seas of clouds, which are rarely seen in the mainland. The surging sea of clouds was right in front of us, and as we drove down from the mountains, the car shuttled through the sea of clouds.
The Lulang Forest Sea is a large tract of primeval forest with a single color and no sense of layering. The photo taken from the Sejila Pass looks very monotonous.
The Lulang Forest Sea turned into a sea of clouds that day, and you couldn't see anything. But when you were going down the mountain, you were still shocked by the scenery of Niyang! Photos can't capture that kind of beauty!
It was like being in a fairyland. I was so happy to see such a beautiful scenery in the morning that I dared to try this first high-altitude jump. Even my 60-year-old grandfather jumped up.
Why do I feel that there is no difference between this mountain and other mountains? Or the wild flowers on the roadside are more beautiful.
There are two viewing platforms on the way, where you can find a better angle to enjoy the beautiful scenery and feel the style of painting. If you come here in winter, you can call it a forest of snow.
It takes about two hours to drive from Nyingchi City. You can see Mount Namjagbarwa and the Niyang River from Lulang Forest Sea, but due to the weather, it was all foggy and you couldn't see anything! The scenery on the road is still very beautiful!
There are many strange plants here. Locals say that only natural pine trees have silk hanging on them! It's so beautiful! I can't describe it, and I can't take a picture of it! It would be even more perfect if it was a sunny day!
There are large forests along the mountains, with vertical spruce and pine trees as the main trees. Due to seasonal factors, some forests are covered with snow, and Mani piles left by predecessors can be seen everywhere.
It was drizzling all along the way, so that the Lulang Forest Sea was covered in clouds and fog. There was thick fog around the sign with "Namjagbarwa" written next to the viewing platform. It turned out that if the weather was good here, you could see Namjagbarwa from a distance, but at this time it was just a vast expanse of white, and not even the outline could be seen.
If you only go down to the observation deck, the ticket is 30, and if you go down to the village below, the ticket is more than 100 (we only went down to the observation deck).
Friendly reminder: There is a long winding mountain road from Nyingchi to Lulang Forest Sea, which is not easy to drive. In addition, local villagers often drive yaks on the winding mountain road. We don’t know where they are driving the yaks, so there are often traffic jams. It is best to drive with an experienced driver with a local license. It is amazing that he can squeeze through the herd of yaks. But you must pay attention to driving safety!
It's hard to describe in words! The greenery stretches as far as the eye can see!
Looking around, you will feel relaxed and happy
It is hard to believe that the sea of forest on the plateau is so stunning. The continuous sea of forest and the snow-capped mountains complement each other, creating an unforgettable scenery.
It includes two places: Lulang Forest Sea and Pastoral Scenery. The panoramic forest sea is actually quite beautiful and spectacular.
The second scenic spot of Lulang Forest Sea is the pastoral scenery. It is less than five minutes' drive from Lulang Forest Sea. You can see the pastoral scenery on the opposite side from a platform, which is also magical. In fact, it was cloudy and had just rained that day, but there was sunshine in that area.
There are two viewing platforms in Lulang Forest Sea, 7 kilometers apart, one for viewing snow-capped mountains and the other for viewing pastoral scenery.
Lulang means "Dragon King Valley" in Tibetan, "where the gods live". It is known as a "natural oxygen bar" and "biological gene bank". It is the area with the richest forest vegetation types in China and enjoys the reputation of Eastern Switzerland. This is a typical narrow strip of plateau mountain meadows, with green mountains on both sides composed of bushes and dense spruce and pine trees, and a grassland with winding streams in the middle. Wooden fences, wooden houses and farmers' and herdsmen's villages are scattered everywhere, and the clouds and mist in the mountains gather and disperse from time to time. The snow-capped mountains, forests and countryside outline a quiet and beautiful "mountain dwelling picture".
At the foot of the Lulang Forest is the Lulang Town, which imitates the scenery of Switzerland. Lulang is most beautiful in the summer when the grass and water are lush, with green grass, gurgling water, and Tibetan-style buildings dotted around. It makes people want to live in seclusion here!
The scenic area is very small. You can reach the farthest viewing platform after walking a few hundred meters. In fact, this scenic area is just a viewing platform on the side of the mountain, and then sells tickets. The ticket seems to be 60. Due to weather reasons, it is really difficult to take any photos. There is actually no need to buy this ticket. It includes the Linhai Viewing Platform and the Lulang Rural Scenery Viewing Platform further ahead. Even if you don't enter the viewing platform, you can still enjoy the scenery on the roadside. It is basically the same.
Going forward along 318, you will reach a viewing platform of Lulang rural scenery. In fact, the viewing platform is still under construction and you need to check your ticket. The ticket is the same as that of Lulang Forest Sea. The scenery is similar to what you see on the roadside.
We continued walking to a place similar to a small town. This side is the alpine meadow, which can be regarded as a pasture area. We also rented OFO bicycles on the roadside and rode along the path for a while. OFO's bicycle was really bad, one wheel hub was broken, one brake was locked, and it was barely usable.
Personally, I feel that this attraction is just average, nothing special. It may be because there are very few forests and grasslands in Tibet. It really cannot be called a scenic spot if it is placed in other places.
Picking chrysanthemums under the eastern fence, leisurely seeing the southern mountains. Snow-capped mountains and forests, clouds and colorful clouds, four seasons in one ridge, nine views in ten miles, and the picturesque Lulang Forest Sea fully embody this line of Tao Yuanming's poem. The endless snow-capped mountains, the endless pine waves and clouds, the endless rivers, the endless sounds of the rushing rivers, the birds singing and the fragrance of flowers, the passing of time, are like a fairyland on earth.
There is a poem to prove it: Snow-capped mountains surround the towering trees, and wild azaleas flow through the meadows and streams. From afar, the smoke-filled village looks like a painting, and suddenly the clouds and mist seem to make people look like immortals.
