Mila Mountain is the boundary between Lhasa and Nyingchi, with an altitude of 5020m. Crossing Mila Mountain Pass is Gongbu Jiangda County in Nyingchi. The northwest of Mila Mountain is the Lhasa River system, and the southeast is the Niyang River system. The climate on the Lhasa side is dry and cold, while the Nyingchi side is warm and humid with lush vegetation. It can be said that Mila Mountain is the boundary between the climate of Lhasa and Nyingchi, which has completely changed the landforms, vegetation and climate on both sides of the Yarlung Zangbo River Valley.

When I went to Tibet at the end of April 2018, the Mila Mountain Tunnel on the Lhasa-Nyingchi Highway had not yet been opened, so I crossed Mila Mountain along the G318 National Highway. The Mila Pass is 5,018 meters above sea level, and there is a viewing platform on the top of the mountain. Many self-driving travelers will stop here for a while and take photos. If you are a newcomer to Tibet like me, remember to bring an oxygen bottle when you reach this altitude! Otherwise, the altitude sickness and severe cold will make you lose interest in viewing the scenery, and even put your life in danger!
PS. When the weather is clear, the snow reflects sunlight very strongly, which can cause you to suffer from "snow blindness". If you want to stay for a long time, be sure to wear sunglasses! Please also manually lower the camera exposure value when taking pictures.
I went there in April 2016. Although the altitude is very high, the scenery is even more beautiful than the photos. It is worth recommending!
The scenery is nice, but it's unpleasant to encounter people asking for money
The altitude is 5013 meters, the highest place I have ever stood. The section from Linzhi to Lhasa.
We each bought a prayer flag and hung it up to pray for peace. Please bless us and have a safe journey!
The climate to the east of Mira Mountain is warm and humid, which is conducive to plant growth, so the vegetation is lush; the climate to the west of Mira Mountain is cold and dry, the vegetation is sparse, and the rocks are easily broken and fallen off.
Starting from Lhasa, I passed Mila Mountain and had my first severe altitude sickness. My temples were throbbing and painful, and I also saw the biggest and brightest stars. When I came back, the altitude sickness was not bad, but it was very cold. I took a photo in a hurry and rushed back to Lhasa
Mila Pass, the pass of Mila Mountain in Tibet, is located on the boundary between Lhasa City, Mezhugongka County and Gongbu Gyamda County in Nyingchi Prefecture. It is a resting place on the Lhasa-Nyingchi tourist route. Mila Pass is 5,013 meters above sea level. Standing at the pass, the mountain wind blows strongly. Under the blue sky and white clouds, colorful prayer flags flutter between the earth and the sky, connecting the earth and the sky, conveying the pious wishes of the Tibetans to the gods. The pass is covered with snow all year round, and there are relics of glacial activities in ancient times. The southern line of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway passes over Mila Pass and enters Gongbu Gyamda County in Nyingchi Prefecture.
The first scenic spot I passed on my way to Nyingchi was a bit high in altitude and very windy.
I passed by twice, but there were too many people and cars, so I had to leave in a hurry.
Mila Mountain is the last high mountain to Lhasa. When I went there this year, the highways on both sides had been built and workers were digging the Mila Mountain Tunnel. In a few years, there will be no need to cross the Mila Mountain Pass to reach Lhasa.
When we got closer, we found faint traces of snow on the top of the mountain. As we got closer, the whole mountain became wild and it was quite spectacular.
Near the Mila Mountain Pass, we saw the construction site of the Mila Mountain Tunnel, which was built by China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group. Luosang said that after the tunnel is opened, there will be no need to go through the Mila Mountain Pass, but we all said that this would also lose the fun of experiencing the highest pass on the Sichuan-Tibet Line.
Arriving at the commanding height of the pass, on the hillside beside the road, a Tibetan yak stone statue stands tall, as if to show people its strength and indomitable spirit. This statue, called "Snowland Boat", is the landmark of Mila Pass and the soul of Mila Mountain. Behind the statue, strings of red and green prayer flags rustle in the cold wind. It makes people think of the thousands of difficulties and obstacles that pilgrims have to go through to reach the place in their hearts!
This is actually a check-in bar for an altitude landmark. The view is still very broad, but the surrounding environment is very dirty and messy, and the impression is not very good!
I took photos of snow lotus with my mobile phone on the mountain. It is a rare sight.
This should be the largest mountain group we crossed before entering Tibet. The car kept going around the mountain until we reached the top.
The white clouds here are so thick, numerous and low that if you are not careful you might think the clouds are above your head. I wonder how heavy they are and whether they will press your head down.
The last high mountain before entering Lhasa. The Mila Tunnel is still under construction, so you have to climb the mountain. There are many people selling small things on the mountain.
The dividing line between Nyingchi and Lhasa is marked by several yaks covered with Hada at the pass.
At an altitude of 5013 meters, it is the highest pass in the area and the only place in the area with a bronze bull statue as a commemorative symbol. There are vendors selling prayer flags nearby. You can bring your own or buy prayer flags and hang them on the prayer flag poles on the pass to pray for peace.
Mila Mountain, the last mountain to climb on the way to Lhasa
It was very windy and cold, but we still had to take pictures!
Hurry up and get to this point, the tunnel will probably be closed after it is repaired.
Mila Mountain is the boundary pass between Lhasa and Nyingchi area, with an altitude of 5020m. Crossing Mila Pass is Gongbu Gyamda County in Nyingchi area.
Mila Mountain is not far from Songduo Township. It is only a few turns up the mountain, but it is very strenuous. The scenery at the pass is much better than that at Dongda Mountain, but it is very cold, and there are always tourists coming up to take pictures, making it noisy and crowded.
I've been there, but I was in a deep sleep and didn't feel anything.
It used to be the mountain with the highest pass on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway 318, but was recently surpassed by Dongda Mountain and ranked second. However, the height of the Yakou is 5013 meters, which is also amazing. Above 5000 meters is a forbidden area for humans, which is not much lower than the Everest Base Camp.
In some places on the road section from Gongbu Jiangda to Mila Mountain, the scenery is even more beautiful than on Sejila Mountain, where the sea and sky merge into one.
The symbol of Mila Mountain is the yak statue called "Snow Boat". When I passed by it, there were queues in front and behind. There was no place to go and no time to get off the car to take pictures. I could only take a quick picture in the car to say that I had been there.
If conditions permit, Mila Mountain, as an important geological watershed, is worth visiting and viewing. It is the boundary mountain between Lhasa and Nyingchi, and the natural boundary between the Niyang River Basin and the Lhasa River Basin. The towering Gangdise Mountains block most of the warm and humid air currents from the Indian Ocean, causing the warm and humid Nyingchi area and the cold and dry Lhasa area. Standing at the pass (5013 meters), you can clearly see the different vegetation and landforms on the two sides of Nyingchi and Lhasa. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to see it this time.
Besides the soldiers stationed on the road, there were only the public security traffic police on the top of the mountain. They directed our traffic one by one and watched us leave.
As a newbie who came to Tibet for the first time, when I stood at Mila Pass, I was stunned by the whistling wind and the spectacular scenery of the sky and earth in the distance. Of course, I was also frozen by the temperature on the top of the mountain. I stood fully armed next to the stone tablet at Mila Pass, took a tourist check-in photo, and hurried back to the car.
The last pass before entering Lhasa. After crossing this mountain, you can drive along the Lhasa River all the way into Lhasa.
There are many Tibetans selling Hada at the pass, so be careful to avoid getting entangled. When getting out of the car to take pictures, remember to lock the car door.
Walking into 318, climbing numerous high-altitude mountains, each of which has commemorative significance
It is 5013 meters above sea level and you will experience altitude sickness, but it is worth going because of the beautiful scenery... This is the boundary mountain on the east and west sides of the Yarlung Zangbo River Valley. It has important geographical significance. The climate west of Mila Mountain is dry and cold, while its east is warm and humid with lush vegetation.
Standing at the mountain pass at the boundary between Linzhi and Lhasa, the mountain wind blows strongly, which is extremely sour and refreshing.
When going to the toilet at Mila Pass, you have to go there. Men go to the left and women go to the right.
The first mountain pass on the way to Tibet, a holy place for taking photos.
When driving from Lhasa to Nyingchi, you will cross the Mila Pass. It rains at the foot of the mountain and snows at the pass. You will experience the four seasons on the way over the mountain.
I put it off for half a year and went to check in again. I went there in April. The tunnel was under construction. The road conditions up the mountain were a nightmare. Dozens of kilometers were all muddy loess and gravel roads. But I saw a pilgrim who was walking three steps and nine turns in the yellow dust and crowded traffic. I was deeply impressed. Many people on the top of the mountain came down to take pictures and use the toilet... The altitude is also 5000+, and I have a much better impression of Dongda. However, the scenery over the pass is very different from the style I saw on the way before. This kind of one mountain and two views is so magical~ My mother who was traveling with me said that the scenery over the pass is the real Qinghai-Tibet Plateau~
The altitude is quite high, so those who are physically stronger should walk slowly.
On the way from Linzhi to Lhasa, the pass is 5018 meters above sea level. There are often hail and rain and snow on the top of the mountain, so you need to be careful on the way down the mountain. The beef soup and barley cakes at Dingri at the foot of the mountain are good and worth recommending.
The Mila Pass, which is over 5,000 meters above sea level, was unusually cold even in June. Coupled with the rain and snow that day, I suddenly felt that a thin down shawl was not enough.
Starting from Lhasa, you must cross the Mila Mountain with an altitude of 5,020 meters, which is the boundary mountain between Lhasa Mezhugongka County and Nyingchi Gongbujiangda County. Standing at the pass, the mountain wind blows strongly, and the colorful prayer flags flutter between the earth and the sky. At the highest point stands the symbol of Mila Mountain: three stone yak statues. The builders are actually people from Fujian, which is awesome. The pass is backed by the sun, cold, and has a strong wind.
Mila Pass, 5013 meters above sea level, has a great view, and many tourists stop here to take pictures. There is a toilet in the scenic area, 2 yuan per person. According to colleagues who have been there, the conditions are extremely simple.
I rode my bike through the Mila Mountain Pass. The yak statues at the pass were quite spectacular. Mila Mountain is the highest mountain on the 2,200-kilometer Sichuan-Tibet Highway, and the pass is over 5,000 meters above sea level. Before climbing Mila Mountain, I took a hot spring bath in the town at the foot of the mountain. To be honest, it was very refreshing. I don’t know if the hot springs in Songduo have special effects. I only remember that I got up very early that morning and started riding at 5 a.m. I walked in the dark for two hours before I reached the foot of the mountain. I was frozen like a dog. It was noon when I arrived at the Mila Mountain Pass. I didn’t have time to eat. I ran all the way down the mountain and arrived in Lhasa that night.
Mila Mountain is a 5,000-meter-high mountain and the last mountain on Highway 318 leading to Lhasa.
The scenery at the mountain pass is beautiful, and the statues of three big bulls are also magnificent.
This is the last high-altitude mountain before reaching Lhasa! In about a month! After the Linla Highway is fully opened, there may be fewer people going up the mountain! Local drivers will definitely take the Linla Highway! But it’s also good! At least the road conditions will be much better! Hiking friends can also reduce a lot of unnecessary dangers!
It feels OK. For the time being, the infrastructure is being improved. It's good to take a photo as a souvenir. The waves are a little high, so don't do strenuous exercise.
The pass is about to disappear, I hope hikers will go there as soon as possible.
The only snow-capped mountain on Route 318 where you can touch the snow with your hands in summer is quite spectacular.
There is no scenery to speak of, just because there is an altitude monument.
Actually, you don’t need to take photos of the stone tablet (there are many people), you can also take photos of this landmark cow (no need to queue)
A tunnel is being built at Mira Mountain, so friends who go there after October will not be able to reach the Mira Pass.
Mira Pass is much more beautiful after the snow
The Mira Pass under the cloudy sky looks like an ink painting, magnificently displayed before our eyes.
On the way from Lhasa to Nyingchi, you have to cross the 5,013-meter Mila Pass, which is covered with snow all year round and has picturesque scenery.
Mila Pass is a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset. Every time you go to the same place, you will see different scenery. This is also a place that can only be experienced in Tibet.
All the scenery is on these two cows, which is what most people pay attention to. But if you look at it from outside, you will feel a different feeling.
Mira Mountain 5000M Mira Mountain, very interested
It's so cold, I don't have any altitude sickness~~
The highest mountain on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. It snows at the pass in summer.
5013m above sea level, endless snow-capped mountains
Mira Pass, 5013 meters above sea level. I met many cyclists here.
It's really beautiful! ! ! ! There was still snow when I went there in March, I was shocked
Mila Mountain is a sacred mountain in the eyes of Tibetans because of its height and magnificence. There are large and spectacular wind horse flags hanging on the mountain pass, and the ground is covered with scattered Longda paper printed with scriptures. Located in Gongbu Jiangda County, it is also the natural boundary between the marine monsoon climate in Linzhi, Tibet and the inland climate in Lhasa, Tibet.
5013 meters, the highest altitude I have ever reached in my life...
Mila Mountain Pass, the only and highest snow mountain that can be crossed between Lhasa and Nyingchi, is 5013 meters above sea level. When you reach the pass, whether you are riding or driving, you will stop briefly to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Different seasons have different scenery. The snow-capped mountains, the eagles with their wings spread, and the yaks standing still are witnesses of this last checkpoint to Lhasa!!!
Mila Mountain is located between Mezhugongka and Gongbujiangda, and is the boundary mountain between Lhasa River and Niyang River. It is 5,000 meters above sea level and is the only way for National Highway 318. However, once the Linla Expressway under construction is completed, Mila Mountain will be opened up. Although the journey is shortened by half, there will be no chance to pass through Mila Pass. Everything that must be passed has two sides.
Mila Pass is the highest pass on National Highway 318
This place gave me a big surprise. I saw different scenery on the way there and back. It was like a painting, very beautiful.
Mila Pass, 5013 meters above sea level, is a must-go place from Lhasa to Nyingchi. The mountain peaks are shrouded in clouds and mist. The yak stone statue at the pass is the landmark of Mila Pass and the soul of Mila Mountain. Next to the statue, strings of red and green prayer flags are blown by the wind, making a rustling sound, which makes people feel respect.
We drove along National Highway 318 for several hours and passed Mila Pass. We got off the car in the rain to have a look. Mila Pass is 5013 meters above sea level. I felt good. We took a photo in front of the three yak statues and then got back on the car to continue on our way.
The last hill that we need to climb when riding G318 is also the second mountain with an altitude of more than 5,000 meters in these 2,000 kilometers. We just took a photo and left. After all, our goal is the sea of stars. What the hell, it’s Lhasa. Haha, after passing this mountain, it’s basically downhill, and we will soon reach the long-awaited Lhasa.
Mila Pass, with an altitude of 5,013 meters, is the boundary pass between Lhasa and Nyingchi areas. Here the sky is bluer, the clouds are whiter, and the oxygen is thinner.
I passed Mila Pass twice. The first time was like a snowy apocalypse, but the second time was full of autumn colors. Both times, I felt the towering and majestic Mila Pass. I heard that this place will be abolished after the tunnel is completed. It is 5013 meters above sea level. This is the geographical junction of Linzhi and Lhasa. Due to the high altitude of Mila Mountain, there is an isolation effect. The scenery on the east and west sides of the pass is completely different. The east side is Linzhi with dense greenery, while the west side is dry and desolate, with a huge contrast. Mila Mountain is also a sacred mountain in the hearts of local Tibetans. There are huge prayer flags at the pass, with colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind and wind horses spinning in the wind. The scenery itself is also very good.
Mila Mountain, with an altitude of 5,013 meters, is the highest pass before the 318 Sichuan-Tibet Highway enters Lhasa.
The altitude is 5013 meters. It often snows. After crossing the mountain pass, you will reach the Jiangnan area of Tibet! There is also a very good yak beef vermicelli soup here.
The first stopping point from Lhasa to Nyingchi is Mila Pass, which is simply a resting point. However, the view from the pass is very nice. Various tour groups going to Nyingchi basically gather here. Looking at the surrounding snow-capped mountains from the pass, the scenery is endless. For us who have just arrived in Tibet, such scenery is still a little shocking. It takes a lot of patience to take photos with the signs or stone tablets here, because many tour groups basically have to wait in line for a long time. Finally, I would like to remind you that you must not sleep during the ride, especially when crossing the pass, because this will more easily induce altitude sickness.
